Adam Lambert Addresses “On With the Show” as “Want” Heads to iTunes

“Want,” the first single off a pre-Idol collection of songs sung by Adam Lambert titled On With the Show, will be available on iTunes starting tomorrow, June 23rd. On With The Show, which is due out later this summer — before Lambert’s official debut on 19 Recordings via RCA — features 11 tracks Lambert recorded during his three-year partnership with producer Malcolm Welsford and Wilshire Records, who will release the disc.

A press release boasts that eight of the 11 songs on On With The Show were co-written by Lambert, and that the album features “recent tracks” recorded “over the course of 2007/2008, right before Lambert’s meteoric rise to prominence.” However, in a statement Lambert issued this weekend after “Want” hit the Internet, the Idol runner-up was quick to explain that — despite Wilshire’s claims — some of the recordings date back four years ago, and the songs don’t feature his songwriting.

“Back in 2005, when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio,” Lambert said in the statement. “The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on. I’m thrilled to be working with some of today’s hottest songwriters and producers and can’t wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like.” As Rock Daily reported last week, Lambert has already drafted Lady Gaga producer RedOne to contribute tracks to his official debut album.

(Check out photos from our Lambert cover shoot.)

On With The Show and his fall debut disc might not be the only Glambert-related releases on the horizon: According to the Wilshire press release, the indie label has “two albums’ worth of material [Lambert] recorded.” According to MTV, neither Lambert nor Idol’s 19 Recordings are expected to take any legal action to prevent On With The Show’s release. As for what fans can expect from Lambert’s real debut, “My album is gonna be siiiiiiiiick,” Lambert said on his new Twitter account.

POOR ADAM ..EVERYONE WANTS TO CAPITALIZE ON HIM!! I HOPE THIS DOESNT HURT HIS REAL ALBUM IN THE FALL!! IT WONT KEEP ME FROM LOVING HIM AS USUAL BUT I AM AN ADAM OBSESSED FAN AND I WILL SUPPORT ANYTHING HE DOES :) I HOPE IT DOESNT TURN OFF JUST THE RANDOM ADAM MUSIC LISTENER!!

Nicole | 6/22/2009, 1:16 pm EST

Add to that the fact that there was a song with exactly the same lyrics up on their website – with a different title and being sung by someone else – and that they took it down when people caught on, they’re lying outta their a$$. These are all cover songs Adam did and they’re just trying to cash in.

NOBODY SPEND A CENT ON ANY OF THESE SONGS!

Don | 6/22/2009, 1:21 pm EST

Sounds like 19/Sony is trying to rip off the producers. For heavens sake Sony, let Adam release his own songs not covers like all your other Idols. We love Adam and will buy his first album, not 19/Sonys.

Glamazon | 6/22/2009, 1:22 pm EST

If Adam will make money from the sale of this album I’ll support it and if not I won’t. I feel his frustration that he’s working hard on his new album and these people are trying to steal some of his thunder. Adam is amazing in no matter what style he touches: rock, pop, disco, broadway etc. It doesn’t matter beacuse it’s Adam and his fans support him!!! Go Adam!!!

Audrey | 6/22/2009, 1:43 pm EST

I love Adam and will buy anything with his beautiful voice. He is so amazing.

Joanna | 6/22/2009, 1:50 pm EST

I LOVE ADAM AND I’M HIS #1 FAN. I’M OBSESSED WITH HIM. HE IS EVERY WHERE HE IS ON MY WALLS, MY PHONE, MT IPOD, I MADE A SHIRT, AND HE IS ON MY BED (I MADE THAT ALSO), i MADE A CD OF HIM, ALL I TALK ABOUT IS HIM. I LOVE HIM. GUY OR NOT HE IS STILL SO VERY HOTT. I WILL SUPPORT HIM WITH EVERYTHING THAT HE WILL GO THROUGH. I LOVE ADAM SO MUCH THAT IM HERE FOR HIM.

LOVE,
JOANNA

PS: IF ADAM READS THIS I HOPE THAT ONE DAY I WILL MEET YOU AND GET T HANG OU WITH YOU. WELL SEE YOU AT THE AMERICAN IDOL TOUR. BY LOVE YOU

Dee | 6/22/2009, 1:50 pm EST

Do not buy this stuff. Wilshire/HiFi are leeches out to make a quick buck and take advantage of Adam. This is just crappy demo material sung by a beautiful, pure voice and a great talent.

Adam’s real music will be coming out in the fall. I’ll wait for the real deal!!

Barbara | 6/22/2009, 1:56 pm EST

I will buy anything Adam puts out that he reaps a profit from. One of the comments from Hi-Fi said that ‘Adam would share in any financial success.” i am waiting for another comment from Adam before I buy the Album. I was hoping RCA would buy the tracks from Hi-Fi, but if they don’t, I will buy it–unless Adam says “I’d prefer you not.” Adam is so talented and varied, and i’m sure, while the Hi-Fi tracks are probably cheaply produced, that Adam’s voice will be great, and one of the things I like about him is that he can sing all types of music. I do think it’s sorry for Hi-Fi to come out with this before the RCA debut. Obviously , they decided now was the time to jump on the Adam bandwagon. Oddly enough, some of Kris’ fans, who don’t usually like Adam’s style, like “want,” and I like it too, though I prefer his bigger, more dramatic sounds. I don’t want there to be an Adam album out there that doesn’t sell.

Taylor | 6/22/2009, 1:57 pm EST

I certainly will NOT support this work…IF THESE PEOPLE WOULD NOT PRODUCE ADAM’S WORK INITIALLY, THEY DON’T DESERVE TO REAP BENEFITS POST IDOL. AI made Adam famous…he was struggling prior and these other people didn’t see Adam’s potential then, so why should they benefit now? It makes me angry that they caused Adam to struggle without cause. Idiots!!!

Taylor | 6/22/2009, 1:58 pm EST

pixie | 6/22/2009, 2:13 pm EST

it will be extemely difficult for me to not add these songs to my adam collection. i just love hearing his voice, but my conviction to support any artist and not the recording companies will hold me back. i will not give them my money unless adam approves the release and makes money from the sales.

Donai | 6/22/2009, 2:21 pm EST

Dang! The song has a hook. It is awesome Adam no matter how you look at it. I will buy it if Adam sends out a statement about it. Otherwise, I will just listen to you tube. My mom is also in love with the song. Dang-HiFi Millions would buy this if Adam gets the profits. Otherwise, they won’t.

SCat | 6/22/2009, 2:23 pm EST

ok one person should buy this album and put it on limewire or a free download site so we can all get it for free if none of the $$$ is going to Adam

Tracy | 6/22/2009, 2:35 pm EST

I will wait for Adam’s “approval” before I spend a dime!

Anonymous | 6/22/2009, 2:44 pm EST

Maybe we should buy it anyway, because if it did badly in the charts it would not look good for Adam. It will reflect on him personally. people will forget who brought it out, it will have his name on it. It would be better for him if it did well in the charts irregardless who gets the money.

Jane | 6/22/2009, 2:58 pm EST

Don – this stuff isn’t Adam’s. He layed down these tracks for other people, not because he wanted them out there as “his”. Adam wants his debut album to be with 19/RCA. Hi-Fi said Adam would share in the success, not the financial success. Granted Adam can sing anything and sound great, but they are stealing his thunder and putting him out there in a way he hasn’t chosen. If they don’t want to hurt him, they would wait till after his debut album in the fall. Keep telling it like it is Rolling Stone – we love you and Adam Rocks!!! Totally!!

Eileen | 6/22/2009, 2:59 pm EST

I’m not sure what to do about this. To me, Adam is the most amazing singer/performer in the world right now. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him sing “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the AI audition and I have been hooked and obsessed with him ever since.

I really want to buy this album to support him, as long as he gets some of the profits, so I will “stay tuned.” I’m sure his new album, slated for fall, will be a killer and I can’t wait for that!

Also, another gorgeous photo of him at the top of this article. What is it about this man that has me weak in the knees and totally riveted?! I am beside myself with adoration and lust!!!

SK | 6/22/2009, 3:12 pm EST

I won’t be buying the Hi Fi releases as they were not willing to “bank” on Adam until now. I love all of Adam’s vocals, pre- and post-Idol, but will not enable Hi Fi’s “free ride”. Adam, can’t wait for your new album on RCA in the fall!

Pro Adam | 6/22/2009, 3:12 pm EST

Don’t spend your money on this. Download it for free. Adam is more important and we want to support him and only him.

Terrie D. | 6/22/2009, 3:14 pm EST

I, for one, will wait until Adam’s OFFICIAL RCA ALBUM has been released & charted before purchasing this DEMO album WHEN & ONLY WHEN ADAM HIMSELF gives the GO AHEAD. Till then I’ll keep checking out youtube for any updates.

mom_shell | 6/22/2009, 3:42 pm EST

as much as I want everything Adam sings I am not buying this album, I’m sitting tigh waiting for his debut album. this ppl are just cashing in without any ethic

KGlambert | 6/22/2009, 3:50 pm EST

*** DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON HI-FI’S RELEASE OF “WANT.” THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LEECHES. SPEND YOUR $$ ON ADAM’S DEBUT ALBUM DUE THIS FALL ***

Beth | 6/22/2009, 4:12 pm EST

I will buy this record..Anything that has Adam’s songs..I will support it and it will prove that we love Adam no matter what.

Ma Berry | 6/22/2009, 4:15 pm EST

Yes, I love anything Adam sings but as he says above – My album will be siiick. I will wait for Adam’s real album..his dream album that will be coming out in the fall.

Sarah | 6/22/2009, 4:31 pm EST

It is so annoying, so upsetting and so unfair to Adam and to his fans.
I WON’T BUY “THE On With the Show” CD. I am waiting only for the official album. And I’m doing so no just because I think “want” is a bad song (ADAM’s vocals are amazing as usual, and the melody is quite nice, it’s just that the arrangement of the song is LOUSY), but because I love Adam and I know that the official album will be awesome.
DON’T BUY THE NON-OFFICIAL ALBUM, JUST DON’T BUY IT!!!!!

Anonymous | 6/22/2009, 5:13 pm EST

Adam Lambert loves the cock.

susan moyer | 6/22/2009, 6:09 pm EST

I’ll be waiting for the RCA recording, and I hope everyone else will do the same.

If people want to buy this unauthorized CD, perhaps they would consider waiting until after Adam’s official recording has been released this fall. He has made it pretty clear how he feels about this situation. I for one will respect those feelings. He deserves to have his wishes respected.

Sadie | 6/22/2009, 6:34 pm EST

Not touching this release with a ten foot pole.

JK | 6/22/2009, 6:47 pm EST

The vocals are beautiful (as usual), but I won’t be buying it unless Adam Lambert endorses it.

If HiFi does own all the rights to these songs, then they can obviously do whatever they want with them, including releasing them. However, it’s another thing to claim that these are co-written, stylistically representative and fully endorsed songs if they are just songs Adam sang as a session singer (and probably only received a fixed fee for).

As pointed out by other posters, it’s identical to another song called December released by HiFi (which has since been pulled from their website), reducing their credibility further.

Anonymous | 6/22/2009, 8:03 pm EST

christina | 6/22/2009, 8:06 pm EST

i’m so upset about this =( poor adam

Mia | 6/22/2009, 8:20 pm EST

PLEASE DON’T BUY THE NON-OFFICIAL ALBUM.

Sophia | 6/22/2009, 8:30 pm EST

Adam, your fans support you. We understand what’s going on here. We know what your real debut album is and anxiously await it!

Bobbie | 6/22/2009, 8:32 pm EST

We need an official statement from Adam telling us what to do!!

Free Downloads = Stealing | 6/22/2009, 8:34 pm EST

Downloading for “free” is stealing. No matter what you think of the company releasing Adam’s prior-Idol work, you are stealing if you download it for free. If you want to make a statement, then don’t download it at all. Otherwise, buy it.

Anonymous | 6/22/2009, 8:34 pm EST

Hi Fi claims in another article that Adam will benefit financially from the sale of this album. However, Adam leaves us wondering what he would have us do. All he is saying is that the debut album in the fall will be “slick” indicating that it will be much better than what HiFi is releasing and explains the music he did in the past wasn’t intended to be released as such, but he doesnt say dont buy it or that he does not endorse it. I am already attached to “Want” the single on the HiFi web site, but will he include it in the real debut album? Because I want to have it and want to hear what else HiFi has to offer of Adam’s right now.

Free Downloads = Stealing | 6/22/2009, 8:35 pm EST

Anonymous | 6/22/2009, 8:37 pm EST

Who said anything about downloading for free? “Want” goes on sale tomorrow on I-Tunes.

leileea | 6/22/2009, 8:38 pm EST

I heard the song “want”.. it still is lovely to hear because it is Adam…anything just to hear his voice.

vivi | 6/22/2009, 8:45 pm EST

I love you Adam!! I’m sorry but it was to tempting and I bough it. Your voice is so beautiful to let it pass by

dan harold vicente | 6/22/2009, 9:03 pm EST

actually with the release of this single it made adam a possible grammy nominee for best new artist next year.

Kirsten | 6/22/2009, 9:05 pm EST

Don’t kid yourself. Anyone who buys this so-called single or album from HiFi is participating in their exploitation of Adam Lambert. HiFi are lying about everything, as the evidence continues to show. Adam will get no money from any sales.

If you are a true fan, wait to buy Adam’s REAL music – it’s gonna be worth the wait!

Josy | 6/22/2009, 9:13 pm EST

I bought some Rolling Stone magazines and mailed them in country where it is not available, for free in exchange of charity donations in the people country! I bought everything Adam on iTunes but I will not pay a dime for HI-FI. Adam was not good enought for them to sign him before and they paid him by the hour! Adam is too good for them now. I will by dozens and plus copies of Adam RCA CD and will mail them for free to people that cannot afford it, but HI-FI will not ever get a dime from me, unless Adam says that it is OK to buy from HI-FI!

Cat | 6/22/2009, 9:13 pm EST

People will love both Albums. They’re just different. Buy them both and enjoy Adam, old and new.

Nicki | 6/22/2009, 9:35 pm EST

Umm….folks? I know that Adam doesn’t seem to pleased with the release of “Want” and I’ve heard people not liking it, but am I the only one who actually thought it was pretty good? I mean, I know it’s not the kind of music he’s making now, but just hearing his voice on the track was awesome – if he sounds half this good on his real debut CD – I’m totally jacked up about his first album. Can’t wait! LUV his voice on pretty much any kind of music.

Kittycomere | 6/22/2009, 10:14 pm EST

it’s catchy song, I’m Jonesin’ for anything Lambert, so I’ll buy it, no matter what!
the boy is addicting, and I need my fix, sorry everyone!

mon | 6/22/2009, 10:20 pm EST

Adam has not endorsed the album from HIFI recordings and obviously, we can see that he didn’t like this old music. So, I will wait patiently for the real “debut album” released by RCA this fall.

kels | 6/22/2009, 11:43 pm EST

I don’t care if it is endorsed or not – I am buying every album that has Adam’s voice on it the day it comes out – the more the better!

Mandy | 6/23/2009, 12:26 am EST

The release of these songs is happening whether Adam & his fans like it or not. IF THEY BOMB, IT WILL REFLECT BADLY ON ADAM AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE HE’S NOT “MARKETABLE”!!!! Poor sales could derail his career. That’s why he’s so upset about it! It’s a lose/lose situation for him. For that reason, I’m buying “Want” on ITunes & the album “On With The Show” when it comes out. If the song/album are successful, it will PROVE that Adam is music GOLD, even when the material isn’t!!!!

LuvAdam476 | 6/23/2009, 1:54 am EST

I like the song “Want” but will not buy any albums or songs not endorsed by Adam. He already said they were not HIS songs, but were written by someone else. He just needed money and lent his vocals. These songs are not Adam pre Idol songs, they are songs written by others but Adam sings them. This company is just trying to cash in on Adam’s fame, otherwise they would have sold this album long ago. Adam is marketable, but make him marketable on HIS terms. He refers to HIS DEBUT ALBUM IN THE FALL

ADAM ROCKS MY WORLD (ROCK & SEX GOD)!!! ADAM IS PURE PERFECTION!!!

LuvAdam476 | 6/23/2009, 2:10 am EST

Sorry about the double post. Hit wrong key by mistake. But since I’m posting again.

Don’t encourage this lying company who is now trying to cash in on Adams’ fame. Why didn’t they give him a recording contract back then huh? Come on people. Wait for his REAL DEBUT ALBUM IN THE FALL.
Show Adam the respect he is due and so deserves.
ADAM ROCKS MY WORLD(ROCK & SEX GOD)!!! ADAM IS PURE PERFECTION!!!

CC7 | 6/23/2009, 3:54 am EST

People, of course Adam will see financial benefits from the sales of this album! It’s only that the contractual conditions might not be the best, but especially if he wrote some of the songs, he’s also entitle to royalties from the sales. So what’s the big deal? I guess he would have liked his first album to be his first in the market, but I don’t think this will hurt him. People are desperate waiting for something new from him. I think it can be a good thing.

Legal Eagle | 6/23/2009, 4:07 am EST

This is a legal issue. Adam must have signed some sort of contact with HiFi Records. They have the the rights to his recordings with them, and the contract stipulates that he cannot say, sign or imply any negative statements about his contract with them. Strictly legalise. Adam was just a poor guy bein taken advantage of. DO NOT BUY this music. Wait for Adam’s CD.

Janet | 6/23/2009, 4:24 am EST

I’m buying the “Want” single now and the album when it comes out, too. I think Adam’s voice sounds beautiful (as always) and it’s worth purchasing. I think he’s making a fatal career mistake by discouraging people from buying this. When it tanks he’s going to look like a failure and a loser who can’t sell records. He lost American Idol so people doubt his popularity already. He doesn’t have a lot of wiggle room and when this stuff sells poorly and those poor sales figures get plastered all over the media that could be the end of his career. I’m buying it to save him!

Millie | 6/23/2009, 4:56 am EST

Poor Adam! After the gay kissing issue, come the Clay issue,The diva issue, the crazy paparazi and this issue. Adam must have terrible headache! If Adam not happy about this “Want” then I don’t want it as well unless Adam himself say “please buy my “Want” then I grab it in a second! Otherwise, sorry no thank you.

Legal Eagle | 6/23/2009, 5:16 am EST

Duh! Has Adam said anywhere that he is happy about the release of the HiFi music? Has he said that buying the HiFi recordings will help him financially? Has he said to buy them? Has he said they will help his career?as he said he is proud of them?as he said he wants his fans to buy them? Has he said to rush out and buy them? Has he said that he wants his fans to support him by buying the HiFi recordings? Has he said that HiFi’s recordings represent what he wants to be known for musically? Has he outright told us he wants us to support this music? Get a clue, fans. If this is what Adam wants, he would be promoting it and telling us to buy it.. WAIT FOR HIS CD!!!

anja | 6/23/2009, 6:33 am EST

I think John Hecker is making a desperate move with utter disregard for the artist. Shame on him. Why did he bother to start an indie label in the first place?

Kay | 6/23/2009, 6:40 am EST

Buy it if you like it.

BUT don’t be fooled into thinking that it will help him because:
(a) He probably won’t receive any money from it
(b) It may confuse average listeners as to what sort of music he wants to make and may affect his real album sales later on if they don’t like it
(c) Just buying something so it’ll chart may just make his real label think they can spend less on getting good producers, writers, promotion etc if they think fans will buy anything anyway

We want him to have longevity, attract new fans, be respected as an artist with his own musical identity, and make new and exciting music that will be remembered forever

Not just to be known as a phenomenal singer who can sing anything (which everyone knows already).

rwsetter | 6/23/2009, 7:15 am EST

I did listen to “Want”. I would like to buy it. It’s great to hear his voice again. I can’t believe how much I miss it. But I feel like we are all being extorted by this recording company. I’m back and forth as somehow I wonder if poor sales will affect how he is perceived by the industry. I think it may be important for us to buy the release to show we are anxiously awaiting the newer stuff. I haven’t bought it yet but may not be able to hold off:) It is great to hear him.

kittybaroque | 6/23/2009, 7:27 am EST

Adam is gonna ROCK IT!!!

Bad Karma always bites in the A**, let Karma do its job in its own sweet time..greedy disrespectful record peeps……

Randy | 6/23/2009, 7:58 am EST

Adam and some of his fans need to chill. RELAX! Music Critics like it! One says “His performance on “Want” proves he could sing the phone book.” Critic calls it
“a variation on a John Lennon piano love ballad” and says Adam “sings the hell out of it”. IMO Adam freaked because it’s old stuff and he was scared people wouldn’t like it plus it doesn’t fit his new “Electro-Glam Rocker” image. Truth is, he sounds good on it and people are going to buy it. So deal!

glambert | 6/23/2009, 8:31 am EST

IM SO GONNA BUY BOTH ALBUMS!
ADAM CAN SING ANYTHING!
let’s get him 2 no1 albums guys!

penneylambertlover | 6/23/2009, 8:49 am EST

Sorry, I have to buy his album even if it helps this selfish company. I love Adams voice and I cannot get enough of it. I play his American idol cd in the car non-stop. Even if Adam does not benefit financially it will show the world how many fans he has and how much we love him.

adam's eve | 6/23/2009, 9:36 am EST

SERIOSLY, we shld buy the album and NOT LET IT TANK! cos the media would have a field day with that, and it’ll not be sucha positive thing…
GO BUY!

No Go | 6/23/2009, 9:40 am EST

I’m guessing that if Adam says he didn’t do any writing on the tracks, and was just a studio artist working for some cash, that he will NOT see any money from the sales of this fake “debut” album. It was probably a one-time paycheck, and now these H’wood jerks are looking to cash in big-time. I don’t believe he’ll get a dime. I also don’t think that low sales of this album would perceive how people see Adam’s marketability and/or popularity. Anyone in the industry will know that a lot of fans are going to boycott because they don’t want to line these scumbag producers’ pockets. Welcome to L.A., people. Where everyone screws everyone. Adam was just trying to pay his rent. And if the tracks are any good, that’s just a testament to his brilliance as an artist. But don’t make these jerks rich. They’re being unethical.

passer_by | 6/23/2009, 9:49 am EST

HEY ITS UP FOR PURCHASE ON ITUNES NOW! go get it! want is an awesome track!

schizoidglambert | 6/23/2009, 10:32 am EST

WOW THIS IS CONFUSING…I DON’T WANT “ON WITH THE SHOW” TO TANK CUZ IT WUDN’T REFLECT WELL ON ADAM, AND WE ALL KNOW HOW KIND THE MEDIA IS!…BUT THEN I DON’T WANT TO SUPPORT Hi-fI’S TACTICS AS THEY’RE JUST TRYING TO CASH IN ON ADAM’S FAME WHEREAS THEY WERE TOO SHORT-SIGHTED TO SIGN HIM UP B4, ITS VERY LOW OF THEM TO RELEASE THIS B4 HIS REAL DEBUT ALBUM…ADAM IS OBVIOUSLY NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS AS HIS OWN STYLE OF MUSIC IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT, I’LL JUST SAY AS A FAN ADAM WE ALL KNOW UR TYPE OF MUSIC AND WILL FULLY SUPPORT IT!!!

AdoringAdam | 6/23/2009, 11:16 am EST

It is disturbing that HI/FI chooses to push Adam’s old recordings now. But let’s face it, it is all about the money. My daughter worked in the music recording business in LA for years and said it is very cutthroat. Most record companies take huge profits long before the artist sees any real money from their albums. I don’t know what kind of a deal Adam has or had with HI/FI Recordings but I know Adam’s fans are very protective of him at this stage in his career. Let’s hope for the best, and try to be positive. I don’t know if boycotting his previous recordings is a good idea. His voice is beautiful on his recording of WANT. I am sure a lot of people who weren’t fans of Adam before will like this song.
I would buy both of Adam’s albums because I haven’t liked the current music over the last 20 years. ADAM is the ONE now! I support him all the way.

ann | 6/23/2009, 1:41 pm EST

Hi/FI Records should have just stated Pre-Idol Adam Lambert the Lost Album…and not lied…it’s obvious they are lying..I just don’t like how they said this was his NEW album and tried to basically steal his thunder for his REAL NEW RELEASE this fall… I think Adam’s real music is
according to ASCAP this list has the song Adam co-wrote
1. CRAWL THRU FIRE
(Title Code: 333655791)
2. I GOT THIS
(Title Code: 393433131)
3. KISS AND TELL
(Title Code: 410827397)
4. POP GOES THE CAMERA
(Title Code: 462661996)
5. SACRIFICE
(Title Code: 495998571)
Crap happens… worst things have happened to artists…parasites they are…capitalizing off Adam success! He took ALL the risks they have done nothing to promote this artist…absolutely NOTHING!

I am waiting for the OFFICIAL ADAM LAMBERT album due out this FALL!
There’s nothing like the real thing baby! It’s worth the wait!

Trina | 6/23/2009, 5:06 pm EST

I am waiting on Adam to say my new single and album is out…It is a shame how these low lifes in Hollywood can sell stuff that a struggling artist is doing and sell it..Adam can sing anything why didn’t they release it before he got famous on idol…creeps….

I don’t think anything can hurt Adam if his fans stay true to him as a artist. He seems to be in the middle of this and not really saying what he would like to because of whatever. I have never been a crazy mad fan in all my years but It is almost like Adam is family. We support, love, and protect family. I think Adam’s debut album in the fall will be Siiick as he said because his heart and soul are in it. But the other music shows his struggle and need to survive. I love to hear his voice. Idol Show is around the corner. I will be there. About the preidol stuff I am confussed but still curious sooooo I will wait and read and see.

Buy It Don't Be Stupid | 6/23/2009, 6:20 pm EST

Buy the hell out of it. Don’t be a bunch of babies, it’s all about marketability and having a following. Who cares if they are scum, the point is it’s at 60 on the Pop Chart and needs to go as high as possible, proving that Adam CAN sing the phone book and his fans still love him. BUY IT and put a smile on his face.

Whit4Adam | 6/23/2009, 7:10 pm EST

Couldn’t help myself. I ended up buying it. Adam’s voice is outstanding. My daughter heard it wanted to buy it too. I wouldn’t let her….I do have limits.

Wanda | 6/23/2009, 7:15 pm EST

OMG! He sounds beautiful. He can sing a phonebook! But, until he endorses and promotes it, I can’t buy it. Dang it…is it fall yet?

EUGENE | 6/23/2009, 10:22 pm EST

FOR GOD SAKE PEOPLE IT IS ADAM LAMBERT AND HE SOUNDS GREAT,BUY IT TO SHOW PEOPLE WE SUPPORT ADAM AT EVERY STAGE,EVEN A EARLY EFFORT!!HE WILL BE JUDGED ON THESE SALES NO MATTER WHAT,SO PEOPLE DOWN LOAD THE SINGLE NOW AND BUY THE CD WHEN IT COMES OUT,RELAX ADAM YOU ARE STAR AND YOU SOUND WONDERFUL ON THE RECORD!!I PREDICT WANT WILL BE A HIT BECAUSE THIS PRE-IDOL RELEASE IS VERY GOOD!!!!!BUY,BUY,BUY,!!!!!!!!! !!!

prgemgirl | 6/23/2009, 10:37 pm EST

I LOVE “WANT”!!! I can’t help it…so sorry Adam, but i’m buying this CD. I hope those HIFi people give you a rightful share of the CD’s sales cos people will be buying it just to hear YOUR awesome voice. Based on “Want” alone, i hope the songs in the CD contain the sweet and passionate music of the “Mad World” genre that a lot of your fans love. We’re sooo torn, but we’re taking whatever Adam music we can get for now!!!!

carlyNYC | 6/23/2009, 10:41 pm EST

so we all agree this is a tough call. i originally disliked the cheesy song, but after several listens and weeks of lambert withdrawl i now find that i want to listen . . . so moved it on to my desktop on sunday. my husband, who for many years was in the music biz in LA (and before that with RS) is now in Cannes at yet another entertainment biz convention. i wanted to ask him about the legalities/issues surrounding this kind of thing so mentioned the single last night. today he told me he was sitting outside at the Carleton (a very popular location) and heard an unmistakable lambert song wafting from someone else’s computer. so he downloaded it from EW and a bunch of entertainment types got to talking about it. bad/good news about this old/new single — they all liked it! other news, well opinion is doesn’t matter hm money adam might see from this particular release, it is still important for his career — particularly for those millions of people who did not watch idol/r not following him. it is THEIR first take on him and his appeal — like it or not. he is also prob bound contractually by both hifi and 19e/rca as to what he can and cannot say. it’s obvious — he has made only one official statement and that’s it. so now i’m wondering: since i am listening to it anyway, maybe i should support it by buying it. for me, btw, as i’m sure for every other adam fan, buying this will in NO way interfere with purchasing his REAL and sure to be totally awesome fall release.

regina | 6/23/2009, 10:46 pm EST

do not boycott the song people!
its ADAM we’re boycotting if we choose not to buy the song!
dont u want a headline that says that his fans are supportive of him rather that one that asks why his fans are not buying his songs?
GO AND BUY IT ON ITUNES and get it to the top 10!

RecordPRChick | 6/23/2009, 11:13 pm EST

I work at a record label in Nashville. In this business, it’s a numbers game and it is not good to have anything with Adam’s name/voice attached to it flop! I would much prefer headlines about the fact that he’s so talented and popular that even an old demo session is topping the charts! The thinking by record executives and others (ad agencies, movie/tv producers, etc.) will be “If he can sell this, he can sell anything” and that could lead to opportunities (endorsements, his music being used in movies/tv shows, magazine covers, etc.) The fact is, no matter when it was recorded or how Adam feels about it’s release, it IS his VOICE! If it has rotten sales it could cause people to question his marketablility and make Adam look a mediocre failure. Will poor sales hurt HiFi? Sure. But will it hurt Adam, too? Possibly! Is that something this fan wants to risk? No. I’m buying the single and the album when it comes out.

Sarah | 6/23/2009, 11:31 pm EST

@EUGENE – But that’s the thing: SUPPORT ADAM BY NOT BUYING “WANT” iTune!

USE COMMON SENSE IT'S BUSINESS | 6/24/2009, 12:07 am EST

Adam never said don’t buy it. He wouldn’t say that and can’t speak freely one way or the other. Ask yourselves WHAT artist doesn’t want their name to be associated with good sales. Do you seriously think Adam’s going to think “oh that’s cool nobody bought something I worked on”…. A huge number of sales only boosts his cred. The horse is out of the barn. BUY THE HELL OUT OF THIS. who cares if scumbag label jerks profit. Adam will profit all the more in proving his following even for this little studio demo that he put a piece of himself into. Support Adam’s efforts albeit misrepresented and PUSH IT UP ON THE CHARTS. Use a business mentality not a teenage girl “I’ll show you”..BUY IT unless you want Adam to be called a “flop”, “cheezy”, “lame” etc. already.

tatubaby | 6/24/2009, 3:46 am EST

OK! Here is what we should do. Wait for ADAM’S RCA album & buy it First & then if we still WANT the other album, buy it TOO. I am sure that the two albums will be NOTHING alike except for ADAM’S VOICE. So therefore, we’ll have two distictive albums by the ONE AND ONLY ADAM LAMBERT.

One UK Fan | 6/24/2009, 4:52 am EST

Mmmm this is a difficult choice. We all in Europe is desparate to have his AI season performance which is not avairavle in UK. Now this black sheep of ‘Want’ coming out and hit our weakest part – out longing to hear Adam’s voice…
It’s like a black mail to his fans.
Adam can even make No Boundaries sound good, so anything he sang will be worth having.
If this cheap black market CD hit the chart this will prove Adam’s popularity and even more his real CD will be anticipated.
There are always people who will try to cash in and bet his contract with E19 makes sure that they profit before Adam will.
So let buy the Want and show the world we love and support everthing ADAM!!!!!!

Cile | 6/24/2009, 5:21 am EST

ADAM FANS…WAKE UP!!! Adam has to distance himself and act “outraged” about this material being released because he just signed with RCA and this is being released on a competiting label! No way could he support it or encourage people to buy it. It’s business and publicly he has to be “loyal” to his official label! But it’s going to make him look really bad and be a huge embarassment for him if this music doesn’t sell. Trust me “Adam Lambert Single Sells Poorly” will be next week’s headline! Fans are potentially killing his career by boycotting this. IMO poor sales could even make RCA “question” how willing fans will be to buy his “official album” once it comes out. I don’t see how anyone can rationalize that terrible sales of a song that he IS singing is a good thing for Adam or his career.Adam’s fans need to get over their anger (which is justified and understandable but not productive) and buy this! If even a poorly produced Adam song does well, that sends a clear message that his well-produced, well-promoted album will be off the charts! Get it? Get it.

Vanessa | 6/24/2009, 5:32 am EST

“Want” is already charting on ITunes. It’s #46 on the Pop Singles Top 100 list. Ahead of Kris Allen’s “Heartless” which is #47.

Hillary | 6/24/2009, 5:48 am EST

Adam is “officially” signed by RCA. He is unable to endorse anything released by any label that is not RCA.
“Want” which does have Adam’s voice and name attached to it, is not selling well. It is at #162 on ITunes. This classifies it as a “flop”.
In other words, the first Adam Lambert music released since American Idol wrapped up is tanking.
Like it or not, no matter what the reason is for that, that’s how it’s going to be viewed by the general public and some in the media.

regina | 6/24/2009, 7:13 am EST

BUY IT COS WE’RE SUPPORTING ADAM IF WE DO!its at number 46 on the itunes pop charts- lets get it to the top 30 shall we?
AND LEtS SHOW ADAM THAT WE ARE BEHIND HIM THRUOUT!

One UK Fan | 6/24/2009, 9:49 am EST

I totally agree with pro-WANT opinions. At this moment, like it or not Adam is a center of media attention and being treated far more than AI runner-up. If anything bears his name flopped, they will be all over Adam to discredit his talent and his future. I will see if I can buy the song in UK or not tonight. If his fans outside of US can not get the hand on this single, it is all up to your US fans.
AMEICA, don’t make same mistake again (AI voting result) Please don’t let Adam’s name down to the gutter and feed to Media bloodsuckers.

Loving Lambert | 6/24/2009, 10:30 am EST

No matter what he sings, I’m listening. Those scoundrels at HiFi are out to make a buck without any concerns except greed. I bought ‘Want’ so I can listen to his beautiful voice as well as make sure that low sales of anything ‘Adam’ doesn’t reflect badly on him. Can’t wait for his debut album!!!!

Dunsa | 6/24/2009, 10:55 am EST

This “Want” song is so freaking amazing with Adam’s beautiful voice. AMAZING! Anything with Adam’s voice on it is worth the buy!!! I only hope Hifi will compensate him wisely for doing this!

MarCanadaForAdam | 6/24/2009, 1:03 pm EST

Adam’s the apple of his fans’ eyes! We love him and his music, and feel horrible he is in this position. We don’t want non-sales of the album to reflect on his resume: the uneducated won’t know he’s not authorizing this. Such a quandary! I won’t buy Want but will listen to it only! I love Adam’s voice and we are hungry for his material!

AdoringAdam | 6/24/2009, 1:27 pm EST

I just read that Adam will be paid a lot for his pre-Idol songs.
Anyway, I don’t see anything wrong with paying 99 cents to download WANT on ITUNES. It’s beautiful and it’s ADAM! Let’s support him and make sure WANT moves up on the music charts.

PUSH ADAM TO THE TOP REGARDLES | 6/24/2009, 4:07 pm EST

Hillary said “is not selling well. It is at #162 on ITunes. This classifies it as a “flop”.”

NO Hillary you have to look at the POP chart not the overall chart, and on the POP chart it is Number 45.

BUY THE DAMN SINGLE AND PUSH ADAM LAMBERT TO THE TOP WHERE HE NEEDS TO BE don’t embarrass him by acting like a bunch of babies about the stupid label. Seriously, you think Adam want’s it to flop with his name on it? GROW UP PEOPLE.

PUSH ADAM TO THE TOP REGARDLES | 6/24/2009, 4:10 pm EST

Furthermore, if “Want” gets to the top of the charts, press will report on it and why and what a shock it is…and everyone will then be fully informed about the circumstances and why the song is “a bit low key”.

ann | 6/24/2009, 8:34 pm EST

Hi/Fi is feeding the media all these statements for the free publicity…they have not spent any money in promoting ADAM or the image he created for himself.

They sent a false message to Perez Hilton it was NEW Album release! World Premiere! Due to demand it will be released this summer!

Viral marketing… they used the biggest gossip columnist to spread their little story!

Now every few hours Hi/FI sends another statement for Hacker to keep getting free publicity.

NOT BUYING IT! Waiting impatiently in the ATL for the real album!

AussieFan(the real one) | 6/24/2009, 10:57 pm EST

Ok Hifi if you insist these are all penned by Adam, then release the names of the rest of the songs on the album now….dare ya!

atruefan | 6/25/2009, 12:45 am EST

can totally tell the trolls on here – they are saying to buy Want and that they already bought it – ummyou guys are soooo stupid cuz you are using the same names over at adamofficial – and copying and pasting your posts all over the place…the majority of us want to support adam and will not buy music that isn’t his. You guys are scum you know that?? These are trolls people…there are about 50 newbies over at adamofficial dot com – and while the majority of us are against buying this – these “newbies” are posting paragraphs of the same stuff telling us to buy it – they sound like robots..and the stuff they wrote here is just cut and pasted from over there. Go over to Adamofficial – we even have a thread on it…so all these proWant threads aren’t really adam fans…they are hifi people posing so we will buy Want to give them money – they don’t care about adam at all – don’t believe me? Well go check out other articles..go to mtv website..same names and same people posting – what are the chances all the same people are posting at the same places at the same time using the exact same words….HIFI you are SHADY …how stupid of you – think we true fans wouldn’t notice? We are obsessed with Adam and it’s almost disturbing I admit…we know what you are doing!!!

FlaAdamFan | 6/25/2009, 6:35 pm EST

Well, I consider myself a loyal Adam fan, although I am not a card carrying member of any of the official groups. (That’s not a slam – I love that he has fan groups – it’s just not my way.) Likewise, I’m not a troll for some record company.

I am also disappointed with what HiFi is doing, and the position it puts everyone in. However, after considering everything – I bought “Want” on iTunes. First, it’s Adam; he’s amazing; I had to have it. Secondly, I cannot justify letting any song of his tank. I would love to see this basement track do very well on iTunes. How can that be bad?

I think his fans are truly wanting to do what’s best for him. However, I don’t believe boycotting the song on principle is necessarily best. I, for one, want to see anything he touches turn to gold.

erw | 6/27/2009, 6:29 pm EST

I am crazy in love with Adam, he just has the ‘it’ factor. I’m having withdrawals…need to hear him sing!

Adam Addict | 6/27/2009, 8:15 pm EST

I’m completely torn between these two options. I love “Want” soooo, so much (it’s my second-favourite song, second only to another of his songs, lol), but I don’t want to buy the HiFi album if Adam doesn’t want us to support it. I think I’m deciding to go along with supporting it. I mean, people who don’t know about all this mess would think that Adam has failed. I dunno. I’m completely torn between the two options.

You're lousy private eyes | 6/28/2009, 3:35 pm EST

You dopes. We are not record label trolls we are grown ups who realize that it’s the ultimate compliment that anything associated with Adam succeed as much as possible. Use your pea brains. Ya think he’d say “I’m so flattered that even my unauthorized work was so well received by my fans” or ya think he wants his name plastered all over the internet “Lamberts first release fails miserably”.

Idiots. That’s the problem with 13 year olds mouthing of like adults. BUT THE STUPID RELEASE IF YOU WANT ADAM’S NAME TO HIT THE PRESS IN A POSITIVE WAY NO MATTER WHAT.

This isn’t high school where you’re little petty disagreements count. This is real life.

Of couse he said “I can’t say”…he’s stuck in the middle and under contract for real with 19 so of course he can’t say a thing about the scum bags at WiFi but use common sense.

AdamisAWESOME! | 6/29/2009, 11:37 am EST

I have to agree that HiFi has a person or team of people doing damage control and trying to convince Adam fans that it is in Adam’s best interest to purchase “his” music. Adam is not happy they are putting out this music because it is NOT truly HIS music, and as a true Adam fan, I am then not happy either. I will wait for the REAL music from Adam this fall. It will be challenging to wait, but at 51 years, I learned the best things in life are worth waiting for!!!!!

me | 6/29/2009, 12:31 pm EST

if we do not buy his album, as fans it will reflect so badly on him. do we need headlines like “adam’s debut- tanked!”???
i dont think so!

Adam's leading lady | 7/13/2009, 10:18 pm EST

ANY ONE WHO WANTS ADAM’S SONG “WANT” GO TO airmp3.net IT’S A FREE SITE AND YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE SONG WITHOUT REWARDING HIFI!

idea girl consulting | 7/22/2009, 12:16 pm EST

I read in another article that Hi Fi Recordings are telling people that Adam Lambert stands to make more money from these record sales then from his other label/contract?

Do we know this for sure, or are they just saying that so people will buy their stuff?
