Adam Lambert’s Early Recordings Unearthed for New Album

If you heard the “new” single from current Rolling Stone cover boy Adam Lambert and felt it didn’t quite capture the bold showman who rose to fame
on American Idol, there’s a pretty good reason.

While the freshly leaked track “Want” is indeed the first single from an upcoming Lambert album titled “On With the Show,” the song — and the rest of the collection — has actually been around for a while. The material was recorded back in 2007 and 2008, before Lambert auditioned for Season Eight of American Idol (check out photos of Lambert’s Idol run here). The then aspiring Lambert recorded the material with producer Mark Endert, who has mixed recordings for The Fray, Madonna, Maroon 5 and Rihanna. That material is now being packaged for release this summer by HiFi Recordings and Wilshire Records.

The single caused rumblings in Lambert-ville when it surfaced Friday on Perez Hilton’s Website, which touted it as the Idol star’s first single. Hilton later clarified that the “new” track was actually an old recording.

As for Lambert’s post-Idol material, he’s working with Lady Gaga producer RedOne, who says “I want to go rock — David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get.” The “Poker Face” hitmaker also said, “It has to be rock, but with an interesting dance angle to it.”

Lambert himself told RS, “I want to do something that has theatricality, a nod to the glam rockers that I love, but is also contemporary.”

Nope. Not buying it, Rolling Stone.
Still not a musician. Just a flashy contestant on a canned karaoke game show.

Tracy | 6/19/2009, 6:30 pm EST

Will Adam get any money from this? Sounds like a company capitalizing on his new fame to me. Will it affect his eligibility for Grammys?

Schultz | 6/19/2009, 6:38 pm EST

Is it me, or is this guy already over-exposed? He’s not the first gay singer in the world and certainly is not the best (ahem… Freddy, Elton, et.al.).

Be gone foul Idol spawn!

Mark In Seattle | 6/19/2009, 6:41 pm EST

Wow, the song needs work but Adam is fantastic as usual. Buy the album? Hell yeah! This is great news for us fans. Let’s hope it is for Adam too, that he gets his fair cut of any profits made.

elw | 6/19/2009, 6:45 pm EST

Anyone know if this is even leagal w/o Adam’s approval?

adamlover | 6/19/2009, 6:52 pm EST

Uhm do they have his approval to even release this album?
if not, i think Adam should sue the record label.
It seems to me that they are just in it for the money.

Shirley | 6/19/2009, 6:52 pm EST

If Adam is not being paid for the CD sales, I will not buy the CD. And I really hope it will not overshadow Adam’s real album! I think that this release is really bad. It will give people the wrong impression of Adam. The song that is being leaked is totally different than what people imagine Adam to sing. I hope this will not impact Adam’s real career.

Adam Addict/Attorney | 6/19/2009, 6:58 pm EST

Adam! Make sure your attorneys are onto this. You can get an injunction if it isn’t kosher and you should do that. Even if it’s just to make sure you get what is due to you. Get your attorneys on this one, it doesn’t pass the smell test.

wenhk | 6/19/2009, 7:11 pm EST

Will this affect Adam’s current album and make 19 unhappy with an early release of old stuff. I would rather not buy this album but wait for his true debut one.

Shar | 6/19/2009, 7:11 pm EST

This sounds really fishy to me. Sounds like the people behind this are just trying to make a quick buck off of Adam and they deffinately would not have released it if Adam hadn’t become famous. I doubt that Adam wants this to be released since his working on a new album and these are just old demos. Has Adam even given them approval to release this? I just hope this doesn’t hurt him in some way. I’m kinda nervous for him now.

Shay | 6/19/2009, 7:25 pm EST

I love Adam’s voice and his song called “Want” !!!! What a Beautiful Performer Adam is. I just adore him. Anything he sings becomes Special and Amazing !

Mira | 6/19/2009, 7:34 pm EST

Someone needs to explain this, are these people allowed to release this album by Adam???? I don’t think so. RCS needs to do something. But you know, the song really isn’t bad. I just hate if people are gonna think it’s his first single. This is so NOT how his new album is gonna sound like. I’m just wondering if Adam knows about this, that they are releasing this, and if Adam himself will be making any money out of it if he co wrote some things?? Does anyone know??

dlt | 6/19/2009, 7:38 pm EST

Sell Lambert/product while he’s/it’s hot. It’s all about exposure, dude. The money will come later.

Lambert won’t get the money; the clowns/clown making the promises will. And that’ll be too bad, because Lambert’s no artist

sammy | 6/19/2009, 7:42 pm EST

schulz why don’t you be gone! Adam is the newst artist on the block that’s all, much like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga.

I really like the song, it’s very pretty and his voice is amazing as usual.

ugh, you’re obviously one of the music snobs who thinks to be a “real musician” you have to be hooked on heroin and/or drunk off your ass 24/7 and truly suffering. What BS. Adam is as much of a musician as any other artist and he’s sure a better singer than most.

Dani | 6/19/2009, 7:48 pm EST

Sorry. He sings it, I’ll buy it. I think it will be helpful to him in the long run. It will give everyone an idea of how much his voice and his image can sell, whatever the circumstances. Besides, popular music, whatever its genre, is not oozing geniality these days. I don’t think the new recording company will allow him to write poetry and the likes. He will have to be a commercial, marketable artist, and unfortunately, we all know that means catchy songs with easy to understand lyrics. Anyway, his voice will shine through all of that. And I repeat: I don’t care what he sings, I will love it. His voice compels me to do so. I don’t really like half of the songs he performed on American Idol, and still, I have them all, because I loved them sung by him.

cacatua | 6/19/2009, 7:50 pm EST

Everyone has to begin somewhere. As an artist who has learned to use different mediums, you have to learn to work with the materials at hand. Even if you have a mastery of another medium, you have to learn to translate that into a new one. You don’t necessarily want your early attempts trotted out to sell – especially when you have learned a lot since then and are quite a bit farther down the road toward producing something respectable that lives up to your own expectations. Nobody, not even Freddie Mercury, comes out of the box as a master of their art.

Mimi | 6/19/2009, 7:54 pm EST

As a fan, I feel so protective of Adam. It seems like the whatever company is trying to make quick money form Adam. His voice is beautiful in this song. But I won’t buy it. I’m going to wait for his REAL single and album from RCA. And yes, Adam, please get an attorney.

Anonymous | 6/19/2009, 7:59 pm EST

love him

Barbara | 6/19/2009, 8:07 pm EST

I liked the song, and Adam’s voice is amazing, as usual. I’ll buy it if and when I hear that Adam and 19 approves of its release. I don’t want it to hurt Adam’s RCA release in any way. Most of the idols, though , including kris, have old albums floating around. The timing of the release of this one, though, is suspect.

pleazurs | 6/19/2009, 8:08 pm EST

I find it hard to believe this is legal, but what do I know? It just pisses me off that Adam may not get any $$ from it! Freakin Freaks! $$ thats all theyre worried about!

Thelma | 6/19/2009, 8:17 pm EST

I hope this company can be stopped.
Somebody is trying hard to derail Adam’s career, and I won’ buy this record. I love his voice, but the whole thing is cheaply done, and I hope somebody can stop them. Why are people such haters, and they know darn well they are not trying to help his career. Did they even contact Adam and his record company,RCA.
Stop already!

Lisa | 6/19/2009, 8:24 pm EST

Well, we all know that a 27 year old performer will have a past – and that Adam went on Idol precisely to give a boost to a musical career that seemed to be stuck, regardless of his amazing voice and talent. This is just a piece of that past, being issued to make some money for a label that didn’t care enough about him then to appreciate what they had! Remember Adam’s comment on an interview about people coming out of his past, and his eye roll and “Oh, NOW you want to be my friend!” comment? This is more of that, but on a commercial level. If these guys had any decency, they would wait to release it until his “real” first album comes out. But I don’t expect that.

anne | 6/19/2009, 8:25 pm EST

I still love Adam. Geez people. Wait for his album before you say anything. Adam went american idol for the platform, which means he needed the connection to work with better people. What does this mean?? – the people he worked with before are not good.

Give the guy a break! This is his chance to soar.

As for “ugh” – if AI is a “canned karaoke game show” why bother making a comment. Seems that you are interested too. LOL!

francis | 6/19/2009, 8:30 pm EST

Perez Hilton is the smuck! Always hitting out on Adam. Me thinks he really likes Adam in a different way and can’t take rejections.

Diane | 6/19/2009, 8:35 pm EST

I liked it. Would like it even better, if I could see him sing it. Whatever it is or wherever it came from, I think once it is out, it will be a sell out. Go Adam

Diane | 6/19/2009, 8:38 pm EST

To Shar:

I wouldn’t be nervous for Adam. This song only shows that Adam can sing all types of songs and I am sure once he gets going, as he said, the album he is putting out will be a variety of music. I don’t think this song will hurt him. I liked it

gb | 6/19/2009, 8:41 pm EST

I’ll wait for the official first album from Adam. Sounds like someone is trying to make a buck on him here, and we won’t get the sound that Adam/RedOne are in the process of creating.

Prarie | 6/19/2009, 8:52 pm EST

Unless we know the specifics of his contract with these people, no legitimate comment can be made. I’m sure Mr. Lambert and RCA have their attorneys examining their options. It just goes to show you that anyone in this country will do anything for the almighty dollar. It’s apparently not just about the music. The cut I heard wasn’t good because of the song. It was simplistic, horrible lyrics and poorly produced. But, and a big BUT, Adam’s voice shines through despite everything. Adam’s cultlike popularity is a result of his vocals. Looks, presentation and flash are nothing without the pipes to back it up. Karaoke, I think not!!

ELW | 6/19/2009, 9:05 pm EST

Well, if that album has songs like Pop Goes the Camera, Kiss and Tell, I Just Love You, Crawl Through Fire and other tunes he has done that I found on the internet I will be tempted because I love those tunes and would like a higher sound quality than the internet.

A Best of Adam – Pre American Idol would be fine with me IF, it has Adam’s full knowledge and consent and not conflict with 19/RCA deal! Adam should get some royalties from anything he sings should they become public and receive revenue.

iloveadam | 6/19/2009, 9:08 pm EST

I saw the news on google and panicked. Just feeling so protective of Adam. He is so in the media – everything he does or do is so out there. Why can’t they just leave him alone.

To Prarie – thanks for reinforcing that Adam’s voice resonated on this song that everybody is talking about.

Can we all twitter him assurances that we still love him and will always support him?

ping-ling | 6/19/2009, 9:27 pm EST

Can RCA block this song,i dont want people take advantage of adam

Mary | 6/19/2009, 9:29 pm EST

Anything Adam sings I will buy. It has a nice tone, and different from the show, so its all good!! Just love his voice, but even more would like to see him sing it. Gotta have that visual.

Well I'll be...... | 6/19/2009, 9:30 pm EST

Is anyone really surprised by this. Next thing you know some woman is going to claim that Adam is the father of her baby. People are so eager to get rich off of the success of others. I will wait until the fall for Adam’s official album to come out. I also think the “gay wanna be” Perez needs to find a new career. You have to know something to be able to report something.

shelby | 6/19/2009, 9:36 pm EST

If Adam approves the release of this and it is what he wants, then yeah, I would buy it. It’s already stuck in my head, his voice, amazing as usual!

Alyssa | 6/19/2009, 9:40 pm EST

Why are people f*ing with the best thing that’s happened to the music scene in yrs????

oh ya…greed. What ruined it in the first place.

dlt | 6/19/2009, 9:49 pm EST

Nations have always gathered under a canopy of tin, not a canopy of steel. Anyone who uses something like AI as “a platform” is no artist. Before commercial art there was art, work at least vaguely envisioned by the artist, not outside-influenced, work-for-hire, a collaboration w/ commerce. People are taught to be more interested in quantity, money, not quality, soul

AdoringAdam | 6/19/2009, 9:58 pm EST

Some people will do anything for a buck.

Adam’s fans will stand by him no matter what. We are the CHAMPIONS!

dan4adam526 | 6/19/2009, 9:58 pm EST

adam should get some royalty from the label that would release the album.. omg everyone were kinda riding to the popularity of adam they try to earn some bucks out of it, hopefully this album will sell 10x platinum

Micheko | 6/19/2009, 10:01 pm EST

some ppl need to grow up and listen to music. I bet you are the ones that Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers exist.

Cindy | 6/19/2009, 10:01 pm EST

Adam’s voice is so beautiful. The lyrics are simple but true.

adamatic | 6/19/2009, 10:03 pm EST

I live in St. Louis and have searched and searched for the Magazine!!! Where is it??? All I find is the cover with Lady Ga Ga, the new issue isn’t to found—WHY?? When will it be here? Did they have to print more?? I’m desperate–please help.

mkk | 6/19/2009, 10:15 pm EST

Adam’s voice sounds awesome on the
song. However, if it’s going to hurt him in anyway, I won’t buy it.
I like when he sings ballads as well as rock. He can sing anything and it sounds like heaven to me.

ehh | 6/19/2009, 10:18 pm EST

The song has beautiful vocals…not so great lyrics! I love his voice, but this is not HIM. I like the rock stuff better. I am way more excited for his fall album with 19! Adam is the man! I loved him on idol and i continue to be impressed by the way he handles the hungry media!

Cheryl | 6/19/2009, 10:36 pm EST

19/RCA…trusting you to shut this down. Disgusting that this label is riding on Adam’s success from AI and afterwards.

I think Adam’s vocals are amazing, but no way would I purchase music from a label trying to use Adam in this underhanded way.

Counting on you 19/RCA…don’t let us down.

wtdp | 6/19/2009, 10:53 pm EST

Bring out the big guns 19/RCA, and shut this down! Adam deserves to bring out his own music at the level he is at now. And who cares if he gets paid for it? We’re talking about his career here. He will pay a lot more in the long run than these little creeps will give him. Sickening.

smokeyvera | 6/20/2009, 12:41 am EST

Adam has already released a statement. He was paid in 2005 to just sing some songs in a studio. These are not his songs, only his voice. He derives nothing from this and it is all highly unethical. The CEO is telling some very tall tales.

Candy | 6/20/2009, 12:54 am EST

This is unethical! I can’t believe they are trying to cash in on Adam’s success. I won’t be buying this album because Adam will not be paid a cent for this.

If you are a true Adam fan, don’t buy this album. It will not help Adam. Just wait for Adam’s real album to come out in stores this fall.

Stella | 6/20/2009, 1:20 am EST

this thing stinks. First of all, “Want” was recorded last year by another artist (Dublyn someone??) so it’s hardly an original song for an original album, which seems to support Adam’s thing that he was just doing a bunch of demos for this company.
There’s also the weird thing the guy said about Adam looking over the recordings right before the finale? Huh? Adam had the time before the Idol finale to do all that?
Whole thing stinks.

sammii | 6/20/2009, 4:22 am EST

Geez i hate you ppl that are bashing Adam. He’s a great singer, with a hell of ALOT of talent. I’d like to see yu do HALF as good as him. As long as this has some sort of benefit to adam, i’ll buy it.

Linda | 6/20/2009, 4:26 am EST

Based on Adam’s statement, it appears he was hired to sing some songs in the studio for someone. I imagine that (1) they paid him for his time at an agreed-upon rate and (2) there was a contract in place that gave them ownership of the material. His voice is amazing (as usual) in this song – but, in my opinion, the song itself is very repetitive and the lyrics are BORING. His voice makes it. And now, due to his popularity, they’re going to probably be able to legally make money off of Adam. I imagine that he will not make any money off of this at all – because I would guess he already agreed years ago to be paid for his time and sign away any and all future rights.

So buy it or don’t …. I don’t think Adam will profit in any way from it. To me, it’s a shame that the song wasn’t a better song – because his voice is so gorgeous.

This whole thing is no different than someone modeling and being paid for their time and then later becoming a famous actress and the modeling agency or photographer releasing the photos and making a profit.

Anonymous | 6/20/2009, 7:06 am EST

No wonder our country is in so much financial trouble.. too many greedy people who will do anything to make maoney. Just look at how greedy this Indie record company is. They take old demos that Adam Lambert made as a studio hand, Brush them off and try to sell them as authentic ,artistic cds. They were probably intended for other recording stars who were already famous. They were never intended for Adam’s release until he became famous. Please let’s not buy these old cds..wait for the real deal to come out in the fall by RCA. Poor Adam all the rats are trying to get rich off his fame.

regina | 6/20/2009, 7:11 am EST

“want” is a great track, to be sure. but these ppl are just cashin in on adam’s success and its saddenin to see this happening!
but hey, if adam gets a cut from the album sales, i’ll get the album

Susie | 6/20/2009, 7:14 am EST

Nope. Not buying it. What HiFi recordings is doing is unethical and Adam does not support it. They’re just trying to ride his coattails. I mean, come on, it’s so obvious. Funny how they did not promote him before.

Shame on you, HiFi.

lizzie | 6/20/2009, 8:06 am EST

other idols have prior albums out – poor Kris says he is embarrassed by his “Brand New Shoes” effort from two years ago. all the fuss is because it is Adam – no one cares about the others, or is even bothered to listen to them.

regg | 6/20/2009, 8:28 am EST

on one hand, i love the song
BUT i dont support the company’s behaviour, so i dont know if i should buy the album when its released.
cos on one hand buyin the album would give adam yet another successful showing, but then its also allowin tat record company to profit

glambert | 6/20/2009, 8:30 am EST

i think we should still buy the album and make it top the charts- just to show that we will support adam come what may!

dlt | 6/20/2009, 8:54 am EST

Wait for the new RCA album to come out, then you’ll really be discouraged. “Half as good as Adam,” as in kissing butt

kynka | 6/20/2009, 9:10 am EST

Lambert’s voice is what matters – it is his signature – He will be OK because he is a natural TALENT – Not some made up studio recording star! I’m an old Beatles fan from the 60’s and this excitement about Lambert reminds of those good old days when singers made it because of their hard work and talent and not because of businessmen telling us what we want. As long as he stays true to himself and is happy – that’s what’s important. I can listen to Adam’s voice all day – doesn’t matter what the song is -Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!

dlt | 6/20/2009, 10:40 am EST

The excitement over Lambooh reminds me of when the Pet Rock first came out.

The Beatles weren’t just singers Hell, as solo singers, like Bob Dylan, some would say they weren’t so hot. But they had George Martin’s (largely classical music-inspired) arrangements. And, after they were introduced to Dylan, literary and mysterious lyrics

vicax | 6/20/2009, 10:41 am EST

Obviously everyone agrees here on one thing : This is some lame cash-in for HiFi. No matter how lame the song is or repetitive, Adam’s voice is obviously the best. His vocals and everything is so sweet. HiFi should be ashamed. If I’m not wrong, HiFi already had a bad image, right? I don’t know. I support Adam all the way.

dlt | 6/20/2009, 10:42 am EST

–singers. Hell–

Janice Kucera | 6/20/2009, 10:43 am EST

I too was signed with a label to do an album but I opted for a percentage of the take but got ripped off anyway because it ended up on a black market list and I was in the top ten over in France (I was above Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Prince), but I had no control over how many copies were sold and couldn’t afford a lawyer — actually wouldn’t trust him either! LOL

I think it would be best for Adam to strike first, get a top seller out there right now while he’s hot just off The Rolling Stone, ( maybe 19/RCA can strike a grandfather clause and pay off the origional owners that paid Adam, giving him his rights to the royalties),. I’m afraid Fall will be a little too late. By the way I love “Kiss and Tell” too. Bye bye for now…Janice K

tij | 6/20/2009, 11:17 am EST

I AM BUYING IT because I love the voice of Adam. The single WANT is FANTASTIC and should be on the radio. Even if Adam does not make MONEY off of it, it is a form of CONTINUITY MARKETING so people do not forget about him during the dead period where he is not singing on TV or the radio. His voice needs to be on the radio and I will look at it as a VOICE commercial or reminder for the FALL album. SO EVERY ADAM LAMBERT fan should buy this album as part of the radio marketing for Adam Lambert. I don’t care about Hi-Fi or Wilshire. I don’t care about the money but Adam needs to be on the radio TODAY! When an opportunity presents, take it all NOW, don’t throw it all away. Because this opportunity may not come later. Bring it on while it is HOT because that’s sizzle will die someday.

Selu | 6/20/2009, 11:36 am EST

Not one penny from me to these rats in the music industry who could care less about Adam’s music career. They only see $$$ for themselves. If they think the music is so HOT, why didn’t they release it back in 2005 and promote Mr. Lambert as an artist back then?!?! And, they’re releasing it now because they want to give us, the fans, great music? Yeah, right. What BS!

susanforadam | 6/20/2009, 11:38 am EST

Darling Adam. So hot he melts wax. Of course there’s gonna be story after story about the boy. He’s gonna be HUGE! Bring on the microscopes and the early musings. One heck of a drama as usual!

Kia | 6/20/2009, 12:08 pm EST

Well, I haven’t heard the new music, but personally I’m more interested in what Adam will be releaseing this fall. I cannot wait for his REAL album to be released.

Adam, you rock man. Major props.

Kia | 6/20/2009, 12:11 pm EST

Whoa DLT…so someone who supposedly cannot STAND Adam, you sure are spending a lot of time reposting hateful and albiet ignorant comments on someone you don’t even know. Jealous much??

MUSIC | 6/20/2009, 12:20 pm EST

ADAM RELEASED AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT YESTERDAY:

“Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio. The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on. I’m thrilled to be working with some of today’s hottest songwriters and producers and can’t wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like.”

These guys are d-ouchebags for trying to cash in on his old recordings. FAIL.

Cazana | 6/20/2009, 1:00 pm EST

HiFi recorded some demos (see: NOT HIS MUSIC) to shop around to other artists. He was a hired hand, not an artist. It’s only now that Adam is popular that they’re trying to make money off of having his voice on demos.

Bottom line is, Adam does NOT support the release of this album, so his fans shouldn’t either.

WTF? @TIJ | 6/20/2009, 1:02 pm EST

TIJ, with all due respect, are you mad? Adam did not want them to do this nor does he like the music so how are you in any way helping him? These self important tools are trying to make money from some half-assed demos just ahead of Adam’s debut. It sucks for him. The d.ouchebags couldn’t be even be a.ssed to finish the recording back in ‘05 yet now they think it deserves an audience and they’re “helping Adam”? PLEASE! I want what Hecker’s on.

JUST SAY NO.

Depeche, 25 | 6/20/2009, 1:11 pm EST

MARILYN MANSON, THE STONES, SLASH, JULES and a ton of other celebrities and musicians are Adam fans.

carlyNYC | 6/20/2009, 1:44 pm EST

RS, someone needs to get this straight, at least vis a vis the dates. adam says was 2005, and def not HIS music/producers etc. so really then it’s just like AI, “no boundaries”: incredibly talented guy singing someone else’s boring song. please if u r going to post about it give us some real information bec all kinds of stuff is circulating. some even appear to be trying to scandalize/ sensationalize this (ryan seacrest — really lame, guy. and i used to like u. . .)

dlt | 6/20/2009, 2:36 pm EST

Jealous? Nah. I got it better than Adam and his fellow buttkissers. I got it better than Simon Cowell and his pretentious, dull associates/competitors. I’m poor and free

dlt | 6/20/2009, 2:59 pm EST

Anonymous | 6/20/2009, 3:00 pm EST

If Adam really sang the songs in the album, I’d buy it.

Muffin | 6/20/2009, 3:34 pm EST

Don’t support this album. It is not what Adam is about and it’s not the album that he wants to do. Wait for the album in the fall and let Adam enter the music world as the singer that he wants to be.

Muffin | 6/20/2009, 3:35 pm EST

Don’t support this album. It is not what Adam is about and it’s not the album that he wants to do. Wait for the album in the fall and let Adam enter the music world as the singer that he wants to be.

Jee | 6/20/2009, 3:46 pm EST

Adam does not endorse this album. So if you are a true fan, please do not buy this album. HI FI is releasing this album against Adam’s will.

Let me repeat myself: Adam does not want this album to be released and does not endorse this album! Do not buy the album because Adam will not receive any money from the sales.

Andrea | 6/20/2009, 4:29 pm EST

On her AI blog, MJ called this so called album “a bunch of garbage demos.” These people are misleading the public about the so-called record, and their press release was disingenuous at best. Opportunistic trash!!! They won’t see a dime of my money, and I will not buy the record just because I want Adam to be in the public eye, as someone here said. Adam is on the brink of superstardom, and he doesnt need people buying this product to “prove” he is really good. Adam and his company will do the right promotion and put out a quality product that will be very successful.

Kittycomere | 6/20/2009, 5:22 pm EST

It’s definitely Adam’s, so hungry for anything Adam, I’ll buy it. I’ll buy anything Adam I can get my hands on. Listen to the song a couple of times, and true to Adam, every time he sings it’s addictive!

Anonymous | 6/20/2009, 7:27 pm EST

Will Adam Lambert get any of the proceeds of this Album???? I think he should as he is the artist, that is the only way I’d buy it!!!

SK | 6/20/2009, 8:02 pm EST

RS – I like the title of the article and the tone. I will not be buying HiFi’s release. Adam is just too darned excited about his upcoming release with 19/RCA and I’m more than willing to wait for that.

MIKE | 6/20/2009, 9:13 pm EST

They should have released Kiss and Tell instead! However, I will support Adam’s statement, unless Kiss and Tell is supposed to be released! I am just manic with that song!

Sabrina | 6/20/2009, 11:29 pm EST

I definitely would’ve bought this album because I love that song “Want” but if Adam does not approve its release than I’ll support him.

Mari | 6/21/2009, 12:00 am EST

wow everyone is trying to make money over adam!! poor glambert!

MB | 6/21/2009, 1:11 am EST

Per Adam’s statement, this work was done in 2005, not in 2007 or 2008 per HiFi. Adam was hired as a session singer to lend his voice to some tracks, demos if you will, written by other people. The song “Want” was previously recorded and released by another HiFi artist and the song was called December (instead of Want). HiFi/Wilshire are such sharks!!!!

guest | 6/21/2009, 1:14 am EST

Adam will not be promoting this, will not be making any videos, nothing…..If Adam doesn’t endorse it, I am not buying…..I will wait for his real debut album with RCA….

[On her AI blog, MJ called this so called album “a bunch of garbage demos.”] Has MJ heard ALL the demos to make a determination that they are all garbage? Or does she usually call ALL demos garbage? Adam says these demos are not representative of where he wants his music to be right now but I highly doubt that these recordings are all garbage. I will not buy any of it because I will not support this a*hole creep HiFi CEO John Hecker, but I’m sure Adam’s voice rises above the less then stellar production. :)

DayHeit | 6/21/2009, 11:18 am EST

I found Adam’sissue of RS at WALGREEN’S! Had given up looking for it – no one would think to look there, I guess. There was only one left and it was behind some other mags. Check it out!! Maybe you’ll get lucky

passerby_glambert | 6/21/2009, 12:55 pm EST

WE SHOULD BUY THE ALBUM cos adam will get a share of the sales! its confirmed.
OH AND “want” is a perfect song, so i dont see why we should not get the album!
LET’s help adam get 2 No1 records in a year!!!

brii!:) | 6/21/2009, 1:39 pm EST

Im buying it! I mean adam’s really talented, and i’ve already heard “want” and its acutally really good!:) soo its going on my ipod. And for those who dont like him. who gives a shit! i mean no-body asked for your 2 fuckin cents. The album is for his fans. Not you dumbassssess who dont like himm!

border49er | 6/21/2009, 1:51 pm EST

The RS issues still hasn’t hit Vancouver, BC. I went to Washington and picked up a dozen. I still have a couple left if anyone is having a hard time getting it. I loved promoting Adam’s talent any way I can. Good news – I’m not gouging for making a profit on this – selling at cost + tax + import fees (if you are in Canada)…for more info – leave a post here and a way for me to contact you. Rave! Entertainment, Vancouver.

[On her AI blog, MJ called this so called album “a bunch of garbage demos.”] I agree with VirgosVenus, this is just MJ’s opinion about something that she hasn’t hear, and she unfortunely sometimes states her opinion as if it’s a fact. And she is wrong on at least one point, these were recorded in a studio session where Adam was hired as a studio signer, not recorded as an Adam Lambert demo. The other 11 songs may be garbage, but may not be. I’ll reserve judgement until I hear it. However, I think that Adam fans should pressure HiFi Recordings and Wilshire Records to both be clear about the history of these recordings and, more importantly, give Adam a percentage of any proceeds.

Kadydid | 6/21/2009, 6:50 pm EST

Adam , I have faith that change is coming for you, you will one day be called the King and Elvis will no longer be the king,
he was good, but your singing tops his,
my family and I love you and have every song of yours from itune,
xo

Ursie | 6/21/2009, 8:53 pm EST

Thought with your cover that you supported Adam Lambert.

Check out Adam Lambert’s own statement about this rip off: “The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on.”

“Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio.”

He continues: “I’m thrilled to be working with some of today’s hottest songwriters and producers and can’t wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like.”

Wanda | 6/21/2009, 9:11 pm EST

Love the song because it is ADAM! Gosh, I am going to be soooooo tempted to buy it. I will have to refrain if Adam is not getting of the cut or if it will hurt him.

Adam Addict | 6/21/2009, 9:24 pm EST

If Adam does not approve of the release and makes nothing from it, perhaps we shouldn’t give our money to HIFI that has NO INTEGRITY. Support ADAM! Adam, let us know what you want your fans to do. We will listen to you, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Glambert-Lambskank-Heidi | 6/22/2009, 12:59 am EST

Seriously, Adam says he recorded these in 2005, not 2006/7. Furthermore, he was just a studio session singer, making demos, so that hifi could shop the song around to other singers. In fact, “Want” was then recorded by a different singer, under the title “December” – and was even up on hifi’s website by this other singer, for more than 24 hours after they posted Adam’s demo version. Yeesh.

dlt | 6/22/2009, 7:59 am EST

Banality sells–at least for a little while

Gem | 6/22/2009, 1:44 pm EST

This is a god damn joke! Of course 19/RCA won’t do anything, like they will wanna fork out the cash trying to purchase the rights of these tracks and Adam isn’t in a position to take on a record label, albeit a small one by himself. I encourage fans not to buy this bootleg album when it’s released, but to illegally download it via sendspace or limewire etc… You can then get some ‘new’ old tracks to listen to to tide you over until the real album comes out but you won’t lining Hi Fi’s pockets as those greedy assholes don’t deserve a penny!!! I will happily provide this album to anyone who wants it, I’ll upload it to Ripway and post the link on the AdamOfficial site then you can download to your hearts content.

dlt | 6/22/2009, 4:27 pm EST

Kiss is jammin at Wal-Mart. It’s about time

Jack | 6/23/2009, 2:23 am EST

My God, I’m sick of this Adam guy already.

Can we enjoy Dylan, Springsteen, and Petty While they’re still alive and performing? Please? Instead of another American Idol product that will have his two years of fame, we should enjoy these legendary songwriters at their most mature level.

Maria | 6/23/2009, 2:46 am EST

I don’t think Adam fans should buy this since it’s a totally exploitative thrown together bunch of unsupported by Adam early work of which he is NOT getting a penny…

Jamesen | 6/23/2009, 2:46 am EST

An open letter to John Hector;
You should have held onto those tracks until after Adam Lambert had an opportunity to establish himself. The “Undiscovered” or “Lost Sessions” materializing after he becomes an Iconic figure would have been a welcomed gift (even if the tracks sucked) because he would have already defined who he is as an artist. Now, you are potentially undermining his credibility, which is hard enough to establish after being on a show like Idol. Why cook the goose that’s laying the golden eggs? There is no way for you and your company to come out of this looking anything less than sleazy. I’ll listen to the bootleg tracks and save my cash for the REAL THING!

Bruce k | 6/23/2009, 1:02 pm EST

HiFi/Wilshire very sleazy indeed. Not Adam’s style at all. I looked in the 3 main registries for song writers and there is not one mention of him writing any of these songs only Crawl Thur Fire, pop goes the camera and a couple of others that are already out there. They are trying to capitalize on his recent fame. Shame on them. However, this song does prove that Adam can sing the hell out of any song.

AussieFan(the real one) | 6/23/2009, 11:54 pm EST

Geez Adam your autobiography is gonna be good reading…down the track.

Alison | 6/24/2009, 1:39 am EST

You might want to post Adam’s entire statement on this matter in your actual “article.” The entire thing is misleading. This isn’t a song/album endorsed by Adam at all, and according to Adam, this song was a demo track from back in 2005. It’s a lousy cash-in and fans aren’t buying. Don’t give credence to this company’s press releases (that keep changing and contradicting themselves).

wtdp | 6/24/2009, 1:43 am EST

HiFi is sounding a little scared now, I guess they didn’t expect so much bad publicity. Adam’s fans are a force to be reckoned with, you sleazeballs. Back off!

Pat | 6/24/2009, 12:57 pm EST

First of all Adam may have signed something so that he cannot actually come straight out and say “Don’t buy it” He says it doesn’t represent what he wants us fans to hear so we should respect that. Heck we read between the lines on everything else that comes out so WHY are we not understanding what he is trying to tell us this time?? Also, someone here has posted a download link, on Adamofficial.com so IF you absolutely have to have these songs (and Adam we understand they are not up to your standards BUT they are still you and we love any and everything YOU do LOL)..get it for free and don’t put any $ into these moneygrubber’s pockets.

Anna | 6/24/2009, 2:37 pm EST

To all the negative music snobs posting here: Miley Cyrus and Jonas Bros aren’t getting praise from Brian May, Marilyn Manson, Slash, Smokey Robison, Katy Perry, etc. ADAM IS. This guy is an electrifying performer with an incredible voice, and much of the attention and love he’s getting is in spite of Idol, not because of it. I’m sorry the joy and excitement he’s generating bothers you, but you’d better get used to it because this is just the beginning. Adam is going to be huge.

To the fans: don’t buy WANT. Adam doesn’t support this music and HiFi is clearly misrepresenting his involvement. Adam was a hired voice for a demo. That’s all.

DD | 6/25/2009, 6:07 am EST

This is a shallow, cynical, dollar driven move by HiFi which should backfire majorly in their faces. I only hope that other fans of Adam Lambert don’t buy into the hype and support this scam.

Sheila | 6/25/2009, 12:08 pm EST

Adam! Keep singing songs like “Want”!! Not that I didn’t enjoy your songs on the show, but this type of singing appeals to me more. Or as Randy would say … “For me …” I think you are a fabulous singer and we are really lucky to have your voice bless us. Good luck on what will be a grand career :-)

NickiJaneAustralia | 6/26/2009, 5:38 pm EST

Weeks ago I said, “there was Elvis, then Micheal now Adam” ironically our Adam was the last cover of rolling stones and Micheal will undoubtedly be the next> Okay Adam (your the same age as my daughter) time to take your throne, Like everyone the loss of Micheal reduces me (and my daughter) to tears. So Adam baby, dont let the industry break you,we dont want to lose you to the demands of your greatness, stay safe. The King is dead, Long live the King. Im sure where ever he is MJ is proud of you.

euguene | 6/30/2009, 12:29 pm EST

New or old, who really cares, I want to hear it! When is the album going to be out? This summer? Sweet! I heard the single “Want” on Perez, it’s pretty good!

Kendra | 7/5/2009, 11:39 am EST
