The Airborne Toxic Event: Acoustic Set Live at Rolling Stone

6/15/09, 2:37 pm EST

Rolling Stone Breaking band the Airborne Toxic Event have a new single in heavy rotation and a world tour on the horizon — but before they took off, the post-punk five-piece popped by the RS offices to perform an acoustic set in our studios. Singer-guitarist Mikel Jollett, guitarist Steven Chen, bassist Noah Harmon, violinist Anna Bulbrook and drummer Daren Taylor played a beautiful, stripped-down version of their self-titled debut’s breakthrough tune “Sometime Around Midnight” (click above to watch), their latest single “Wishing Well,” and even debuted a song “that has not been recorded, anywhere” called “A Letter to Georgia.” Check out the second two songs and the band’s upcoming tour itinerary after the jump.

The Best Band To Come Out of 08., Ignorant Basterd In The Bottom,. You Have To Be Subdued By The Lyrics, Not Just The Mainstream Idiotic Music That You Hear/.,

This band isn’t even that good…they only had one good song on their album in 2008 and that was ‘Sometime around midnight’….apart from the the rest of the album was lame

Pitchfork said they stink, so they must stink.

Or…I could listen to the music and formulate my own opinion.

Frankly, TATE have created a catchy, not earth-shattering, but overall solid pop album. There could be about four hit singles on the album. One down, three to go.

This is an up and coming band. reminds me a little of the Smashing pumpkinns mixed with the guitar playing of Flock Of Seagulls and a pinch of Silversun Pickups too. Songs paint a good lyrical picture and great licks. Love the violins! Those who think they suck…would not know music if it kicked them in the ass.

Hands down one of the best albums I have heard in a LONG time. These guys will be huge and they deserve to be.

I take back what i said. This band is brilliant. They make everything fell better. I love them in every way a person could love a band. The lyrics are great and the band has a charm that i haven’t seen before. Thanks for the great music Mikel, Anna, Daren, Noah, and Steven

Wonderful stuff from a band that has it would seem boundless talent. Lyrics full of power and emotion.
