Linkin Park Debut “Transformers” Video for “New Divide”

Linkin Park debuted the new video for their song “New Divide,” the theme for the upcoming summer blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, on MySpace today. Like the film itself, the video grabs every digital trick in the book and gives fans a look at some footage from the hotly anticipated film. The video even uses that special effect Kanye West borrowed from Chairlift, who Rock Daily saw at Bonnaroo last night. Linkin Park will also reportedly help score the film.

The Transformers soundtrack hits stores June 23rd and features Green Day, Taking Back Sunday, Nickelback and many more. But the clear highlight is Cheap Trick’s version of the “Transformers Theme” — quite a feat considering the song has the lyrics “Transformers, more than meets the eye/Transformers, robots in disguise.” Get a listen over at YouTube.

Took me a few listens to appreciate Cheap Trick’s version of the Transformers Theme. Has a real 80s sound to me. Robin Zander sings with such sincerity he sounds like he believes robots in the sky are for real.

Not a bad song, not bad music video. I think the more I listen to it the more I like it. I do hope they come up with something MUCH BETTER than this song for the new album.
