I can see where Gene Simmons is coming from: “I’ve worked my butt off all my life to get where I am. This kid was on a show for a couple of weeks and he’s at star status. This is BS.”

But he also sounds like a bitter, old, veteran rock star. He paved the way and broke down barriers so there could be an American Idol, which may not seem like a tremendous feat but a lot of people enjoy it.

Yes, it was an amazing opportunity for Adam too, but he would have done just fine on his own that night.

First of all, about the Gene Simmons thing: Gene is just upset that he is getting older and there’s a new kid in town. Yes, KISS is legend, but he is threatened (as well he should be) by the phenomenon that IS Adam Lambert! KISS will always be remembered: but so will Adam. Get over yourself, Gene! You should have been honored to be able to perform with the hottest young thing to hit the entire entertainment industry in…EVER? And as far as his sexuality, I don’t ever recall ADAM being the one to make a big deal. It was the MEDIA who was hounding him. Yes, you are right, no one in America really cares. We love and accept him already. But if he is comfortable answering the questions, then GOOD FOR HIM! There is no reason he should have to deny, or be shamed for, who he is. Media has a way of causing trouble for any relationship, whether it be marriage, friendship, even family. I hope they don’t succeed with this one, because I think America needs this right now. Maybe Adam was a little too candid on this issue, because the press will blow it up, but he is completely open and honest, which is utterly refreshing. And I am SO proud of the way Kris is handling it, so long as he doesn’t allow the media to put a wedge between his friendship with Adam. These two are completely inspiring, and it makes me believe in humanity again to see this kind of love, humility, and acceptance in a world that can be so narrow-minded and ugly. You now runaround with two other guys wearing Peter and Ace’s makeup and clothes. That is disgraceful as they worked just as hard as you two. Any chance you get, you mention Peter’s age of 63 of why he is not with you. You will be that age too old man and by the way, he looks better than you.
Adam brought some relevance to Kiss again, even though it was only for 6 or 7 minutes.

Adam showed a lot of respect for all of the mentors and artists that appeared on the show. He’s not even a Kiss fan, but said it was an honor to sing with Kiss and he had a blast doing it. Kiss’ stardom is in the past and Simmons should realize that the rock elders have to make room for new talent. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Smokey Robinson, Slash and Queen were all in awe of Adam’s talent. U2 and Led Zeppelin members gave permission for their songs to be sung by Adam- a first for those bands because of his one of a kind talent. Slash agreed to be a mentor specifically to work with Adam. Smokey gave him a standing “O”. Those are all “governors” of rock. And, frankly, Kiss was never on the level of any of those artists anyway. Let’s not even talk about who can sing better, Gene! Adam shows reverence for all of the stars that came before him. At least the “little puppy” has some class.

KISS probably sold more of the KISS + AL single in one week than they did any of their singles in their lifetime. The KISS + AL is the biggest selling MV for KISS today. Thanks to AL. Kiss has become a household name once again with this new generation of people.

Kiss was never more than a mediocre band that only got as far as they did because they had a gimmick, and just about any rock critic worth his salt will attest to that. Adam, however, has genuine talent: His voice has more range, power, control and versatility than any other contemporary recording artist.

Awww… c’mon people! Kiss had some great songs – Beth, Christine 16, Dr. Love, I wanna Rock n Roll all Night! Although I wouldn’t call them exactly melodic, they rocked! And Gene is entitled to his opinion. But I think he is wrong in saying Adam Lambert does not have a rocker’s voice. We use to watch (USE TO) Simmons ‘reality’ show and always liked KISS, but Simmons came off as a bitter old has-been with his remarks about Adam. I don’t think Simmons realized the millions of Adam fans that are more than a little sensitive when it comes to remarks about Adam and his awesome talent. Too bad Simmons didn’t take the high road and give Adam his due for blowing the top off the place at the AI finale!

P/S…DEE’s comment makes perfect sense…Gene Simmons & Kiss’ time has been up and over for decades. When I was in grade school in the 70’s, I avoided that band like the plague…there were much better bands around. Flash forward to the present…I just bought my very first ever Kiss recording[Best Of Kiss]this May ‘09 and am extremely disappointed as it’s “much-a-do about NOTHING!”. The only good stuff there is by Peter Criss, and he’s no longer in the band. I shoulda stuck to my initial impression and passed up the Kiss Cd…they’re ancient, boring. Grand Funk was labeled “big white trash noise” during that era, and that band is much better than Kiss!

Ugh, I was in college when KISS was king and I can tell you now, back then EVERYONE pretty much thought they were a circus act, kind of cheesy. Sort of like Sammy Davis Jr. singing “Candy Man,” only the rock ‘n’ roll version. In other words, they were embarassing. At least I always thought so… until I saw them fronted by Adam Lambert on the finale of AI. He KILLED that performance. So Gene, you should be GLAD that Adam the “puppy” came along and gave your sorry old hits a boost on itunes. Now he’ll go on to be a superstar, not to mention one with grace and class, while you fade back into obscurity. Oh and dude, it’s the 21st century. Go get some Frizz-Ease.

KISS is as irrelevant today as they’ve been 15 years ago already. Honestly, who here under 45 would be caught dead at a KISS concert? Without the makeup they’d have been gone a long time ago because, really, who wants to stare at that loser Gene Simmons’ ugly mug and balding head? The only good thing about their AI performance was Adam’s presence and vocals. KISS should be thanking Adam for putting their names in the news.
