Jonas Brothers Scale Pianos, Deliver the Hits at New York Club

Yesterday morning the Jonas Brothers caused a mini-panic by announcing a free surprise show at New York’s Irving Plaza. By 4 p.m., when fans were permitted to line up outside the venue — after school hours, by design — the scene was hectic and the excited squeals audible. The band, in town to promote their upcoming Lines, Vines and Trying Times with Good Morning America and Late Show With David Letterman appearances, dashed into the building just before showtime and treated the crowd (mostly young, mostly shrieking females) to a full set featuring new tunes “Paranoid,” “Poison Ivy” and standout “Much Better,” as well as hits like “Lovebug” and “Be Be Good.”

Kevin Jonas climbed on the baby grand for a guitar solo, and Nick revealed the first time they ever played the club he scaled a column of speakers. Of course, he was just 13 then. “We’re all getting older” he murmured while seated at the piano, playing mash-up of “Black Keys” and “A Little Bit Longer.”

The trio were eager to talk about how their sound and their live show have evolved backstage while running through practice sessions for their World Tour 2009. Check out Rolling Stone’s sneak peek — a first look at the new stage, video and a chat with the band — in our Jonas Brothers tour rehearsal package. “We really tried to step it up this time,” Kevin told us. “You might have to come more than once to see it all because you might not catch it all.”

please kidz save your parents money & avoid this crap, catch up on your homework, read a book, write a poem, help the elderly, just do not support this shit- it’s insane to the membrane, can you all dig wut Harvey “The Man”, is sayin to a all.
Jonas Bros, will fade out in the net few months anyway, now go do your homework, & get lost!!!

Worst f***ing “band” ever, true sellout music which no one but little girls like, I’m sorry but this is pure s**t….Is this supposed to be a rockband? supported by disney, playing exatly the same blink-182 rip-off music over and over…..bands like the Beatles and Who and artists like Hendrix are true musicians, this is just commercial crap

truerocker | 6/14/2009, 5:54 pm EST

Worst “band” ever, just commercial crap…listen to real rock instead like Led Zeppelin, The Who, AC/DC, Stones, Beatles

Cj | 6/15/2009, 8:50 am EST

So true, and if that’s not enough, check out The Minutemen, Toxic Reasons, Judas Priest, Black Flag, April Wine, Helloween, The Cult, Circle Jerks, and the Plasmatics!

Anonymous | 6/15/2009, 12:33 pm EST

girls you don’t have a chance. Adam Lambert is 1st in line for these guys. Don’t waste your time!

Besides, musically THEY SUCK.

Is their 15 minutes up yet? | 6/15/2009, 5:52 pm EST

Seriously? As soon as their fans graduate from middle school they will fall into the laughable genre of New Kids on the Block, N’Sync, Leif Garrett, and all the corporate made bubblegum crap that has ever been created.

I hope they are investing their money wisely.

Portal2009 | 6/15/2009, 6:38 pm EST

They’re shocking on YouTube 2009 performances, the lead singer looks like a Euro version of Prince, who was considered very good looking and had a wild female following especially after his movie Purple Rain. As far as writing them off once they reach puberty, FUNNY, they are typical of ANY age band, and young musicians appeal to their counterparts in high school and college, and that IS where the money is G, album catalogs are very hard to come by in the fast in and fast out fast food label production known as new music, and they’re at the top, look at ticket and CD sales for 2009.

Portal2009 | 6/15/2009, 6:44 pm EST

Wow, have to add one more comment, they have a shelf life of about 6 years, as high school turns into college age, and as long as they keep their young looks, believe it or not will stay at or near the top for abouta half decade. I believe people should lighten up, that’s way better than most. No sense in comparing them to the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and then Alternative in the 90’s, Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails made it in before record clubs like Real Rhapsody took everyond’s CD dollar, so landing their label’s support with touring and management is also very impressive. We like them and so do our girlfriends, new is good.

Sue | 6/17/2009, 8:49 pm EST

These kids are the best thing that has happened to music in a long time. They are a great bunch of kids and they are very talented. They deserve every ounce of credit they get. So what if it is over in a few years, They have what it takes to exceed beyond that but you never know.

Anonymous | 6/17/2009, 8:54 pm EST

I am a mother of a Jonas Brother fan and I love them just as much as she does. Their music is great and I don’t have to worry about the lyrics or anything being suggestive to these young girls. Just listen to your music and leave them alone. We don’t need to hear all your crap thoughts!
