  • Lawyers for T.I. — who was sentenced in March to a 366-day prison term after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges — have filed an appeal requesting that the rapper be allowed to remain free as he attempts to secure a transfer to a minimum security facility closer to his Atlanta home. T.I. is scheduled to turn himself in on Tuesday to officials at the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in Arkansas, to begin serving his term. A judge decided to ship the rapper to Arkansas based on a pre-sentencing report characterizing him as having a “serious history of violence.” The appeal contends that prison officials miscalculated T.I.’s criminal past.

  • Trent Reznor is offering the fans the chance of a lifetime on Nine Inch Nails‘ summer tour with Jane’s Addiction, so that another fan can get a second chance at life. In a letter posted to the Nine Inch Nails site, Reznor has issued a call for donations to aid Eric De La Cruz, a Nevada NIN fan who needs a heart transplant. Pay $1,000, and you’ll get to hang with both bands before the show, watch them sound check and watch the concert from the side of the stage. A mere $300 gets you in for sound check and “a handshaking/hug session.”

Got to say it: Trent Reznor is kinda the shit

More than kinda. Dude is basically going out of his way to save a life here. Major props.

Got my NIN tickets. Best wishes for Eric.

People have a tendency to complain about Trent being a dick, but honestly, how could someone who’s saving a fan’s life (with a great plan, might I add) be a dick. Wish I could go.

best wishes to the fan

I’ll pay Trent $1,000.00 to go the eff away for a little while. I like Trent and NIN but good god do I miss the days when he only came around every five years.

Webster’s Dictionary definition of Overexposure: Trent Reznor.

At least he’s doing something cool with this. It’s a shame this couldn’t be the only time he’s been in the news the last month (I swear, there’s a story from him every single day lately).

What about The Stooges??????????

Showmar | 5/23/2009, 4:49 pm EST

I love how a story about Reznor doing all he can to help save someone’s life and the online music community coming together gets a paragraph on a page shared by two other stories, while no-talent hacks on the modern “Searching for the Stars” gets top billing and constant webtime. It is a very sad state of affairs. Thank you Trent for keeping my faith

This effort raised $640K in approx. 4 days for Eric De La Cruz. Wow! What he’s offering for the money is a dream come true for fans – but the fact that 100% of the money raised is going to Eric to help fund his heart transplant is amazing.

Jeff: Why dont you go away for a while. IF you dont want to hear about TR, dont read stories about him!

Went to the show, saw the sound check and met Trent and the band (and had dinner). Talked to Perry Farrell’s wife Etty and Eric Avery backstage. Had a Navarro sighting and “howya doing?” Said “hey” to Perkins. Saw the show from the stage, met Tom Morello. And did it all with my son and a couple of good friends.

Everyone was super cool; Trent was extremely gracious and generous – anyone who thinks this guy is a dick needs to think again. Don’t tell me you have never been a dick in our life… his guy was asked to help and he has in such a huge way he has no more room back stage for the rest of his shows. Over $800K in donations so far.

Pretty amazing for a dick wouldn’t you say?

Trent, you rock!!

Trent Reznor /NIN (as well as JA) are wonderful & I’m so grateful that they are helping so very much… Love, respect & prayers going out to Eric!!! As well as to TR & Q, NIN & JA :) You’re amazing!

PS: I just feel grateful, am a fan & feel the gratitude (even if it’s not me being helped) Loving life & music! :)

I participated in this experience at the $300 level yesterday in Charlotte. It was the most rewarding thing imaginable. I met my idol and helped possibly save a life.

Trent was the nicest guy too and gives good hug.
