What’s Next For “American Idol” Finalist Adam Lambert?

On Wednesday night’s Idol finale, after nearly 100 million votes and two hours of star-studded filler, the American Idol audience’s collective jaw dropped as flamboyant front-runner Adam Lambert took home the silver, and low-key Kris Allen, considered a talented vocalist and arranger but a long shot for the win from the start, finished in first. But, as former Idol runner-ups Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson have shown, oftentimes winning the crown isn’t everything. In fact, sometimes it’s better not to win.

Adam’s unexpected loss begs the obvious question: What’s Lambert’s next move? (Check out photos of Lambert in his leather-and-spandex glory — and how American Idol’s past stars have fared in their post-show careers.)

After the finale, Lambert spoke about his plans with MTV News. “My dream now is to make a really dope record, to do something new, push the boundaries a little bit, push people’s buttons, open people’s minds up a little bit,” he said. “I know that we’re gonna start working on some music right away, and that’s what I can’t wait to do — to collaborate, to write, to co-write and create visuals that go along with the music.”

Here are some of Lambert’s other options as he rides his Idol momentum to his next project:

Fill the vacant frontman spot in Queen

Over the weekend, RollingStone.com’s readers suggested Lambert would be the perfect candidate for Queen’s suddenly open job. Lambert did just that on last night’s finale, performing “We Are the Champions” with Brian May and Co. during what may have been a de facto audition. But Michael Slezak, Entertainment Weekly’s Idol writer, points to Chris Daughtry, who was courted by Fuel following his Idol dismissal four seasons ago, and says Lambert should take his own path. “The powers that be at 19 Entertainment and the labels that get first dibs on him are going to want to see him establish himself as a current, relevant recording artist, not a replacement on a reunion tour,” he says.

Take on the task of reviving glitter rock

Lambert has already earned the title “glam-rock sex god” from our own Rob Sheffield, and Slezack thinks Adam is likely to embrace the sort of fist-pumping spandex-wrapped sound that grunge killed off in the early 1990s — the kind of music Constantine Maroulis currently sings in Broadway’s Rock of Ages. “There’s a lot of good vibes towards glam rock music from a certain segment of, say, 25- to 45-year-olds, who dig that sound and wouldn’t mind hearing it return to the radio,” Slezack says. “I think he has more in common with Cinderella and Winger and Mötley Crüe than Daughtry or Nickelback. He has more of a hair-metal vibe to his voice than he does with anything that’s happening in current rock radio.” MTV News Idol expert Jim Cantiello agrees: “I think the smartest thing for him to do is get into the studio and put out a crazy, funky glam rock album that we haven’t heard in decades, and go all out with it,” Cantiello says. “I think it would be cool if he put out a record that sounded like Brian Eno could have put it out.”

Go Gaga

MJ Santilli, founder of the popular Idol blog MJsBigBlog.com, says Adam could make a strong pure dance record, but Idol would more likely “want a record that’s a big hit, something that can compete with the Lady Gagas and the Katy Perrys and the Pinks of the world.” Cantiello thinks “Poker Face” should lead the way: “He needs to get on the Lady Gaga train, because he is the male Lady Gaga.”

Belt on Broadway

With a history in theater (he was now famously a star in Wicked), it would be easy for the smooth-moving Lambert to slip onto the Great White Way. “I hope he gets into a studio real quick and puts out an album. If that doesn’t work out for him, I think he’ll be on Broadway in no time, and his fans will flock to that,” Cantiello says. “And I’m sure people on Broadway are going to tailor musicals around him.” Plus, there’s a fresh slate of rock-oriented musicals on the way with Bono and the Edge’s Spider-Man project and Green Day’s American Idiot show.

Tell us what you think — is Lambert Vegas-bound as the next Danny Gans, or will he capitalize on his moment with Slash during rock week and audition for Velvet Revolver? Share your thoughts in the comments.

I think he should definitely put out a muse type of record. A more of a modern rock glammed up Adam Style.

Elena | 5/21/2009, 10:58 am EST

Adam is the man, what ever he does today on he will make it double triple platium or more… I was thinkign the same thing when it was rock week, be the lead singer of velvet Revolver, He has the vocals like axl or even more so then axl. Which I loved axl’s voice… But Adam is the next one… I cant wait for his CD to come out and I will be going to a concert of his in the near future…

Ana | 5/21/2009, 10:59 am EST

I think Adam will be a total success, even more than Kriss who took the title.

Sarah Davis | 5/21/2009, 10:59 am EST

Adam needs to make a glam rock album, mixed with a little bit of soul. I predict his record will smoke even Chris Daughtry’s.

Sharon Wetzel | 5/21/2009, 11:00 am EST

I am still in shock that Adam didn’t win this “hands down”. He was “PERFECT” in every way.

dainaskid | 5/21/2009, 11:00 am EST

no broadway. he should go out there and rock the world with his unique music. push the bounderies!

Katraala | 5/21/2009, 11:02 am EST

He should definetly go for glam-rock, put on his sexy outfits, stick out his tounge and mesmerize all we 30-something ladies out there. And everybody else of course. :)

Trudi | 5/21/2009, 11:02 am EST

Adam had stated before that he wanted to back off the a little on the broadway scene. He also stated he wanted to do some “pop” music. I think and hope he makes an album right away, in whatever style he wants! Like it or not, I will buy and support him all the way!! GO ADAM!!

jeannie reed | 5/21/2009, 11:04 am EST

Kris may have been”considered a talented vocalist” — but by whom exactly??? The guy has no range, no real tone, no nothing. Idol last night was a joke.
Seriously, though, Adam has made it, deservedly, to the headlines and will stay there, thanks to Idol.
Which means only that Cowell has it right and America has it wrong (again).

Nicky82 | 5/21/2009, 11:04 am EST

he could do the queen thing for a few performances, just to satisfy the hunger he raised with the finale last night. That was great wasn’t it. But then he should definitely get into the studio and do his own thing. he has the potential to turn the direction of popular music. Glam rock never died, it just went underground and he is just the impetus to bring it back up to the surface and into the stratosphere. Go Adam Lambert!

susan edmunds | 5/21/2009, 11:04 am EST

I definitely hope he doesn’t hook up with a reunion tour. He could do and appearance with an established band but it would be important for him to do new music, not their old stuff because he needs to establish future longevity by laying a foundation now based on who he is as an artist or he will get swallowed up in the sounds of the past.

lisa desa | 5/21/2009, 11:06 am EST

i was dying to hear him sing queen
all season, i would love to see him do a queen tour and make his own record, with brian may. it is the perfect venue for all of his talent and adam is the only one alive that could fill freddie’s shoes and still be original. maybe with queen he could teach mainstreamers to appreciate pure genius and immaculate vocals. i don’t see it as adam not taking his own path at all. he can make records and carve out his own niche as well.

Freddie Murkury | 5/21/2009, 11:08 am EST

I think if Adam’s soul was glam rock he would have had a band since he was 16. He seems more of a broadway type of entertainer.
with the clout he’s achieved, all doors are open!

Ma Berry | 5/21/2009, 11:08 am EST

Adam can ROCK the HOUSE like he has done all season and especially last night. WOW! Mix in the soul with the rock like Change. Whatever he does I hope he does it his way. I will buy anything this guy does. He is absolutely fantastic.

austinmidwife | 5/21/2009, 11:08 am EST

Whatever Adam does, I’m there. I pray he comes to Texas to perform, because I cannot wait to see him. I hope he does his own thing, because he has it all going on. It is almost better that he didn’t win. Now he can avoid that odious song Kara wrote and get down to the business of being Adam Lambert, our new Rock God. Never seen anyone like him on AI and we probably never will again.

Lee | 5/21/2009, 11:10 am EST

Whatever he does, I want a BIG picture of him along with the CD. He’ll be great at anything he does. Was disappointed at Kris’s win, but beginning to think Lambert will do better this way. Rock on, babe.

adamaddict | 5/21/2009, 11:10 am EST

definitely go with the rock sound.he will make it with whatever he chooses to do. HEY Adam there are alot of doors waiting to be opened by you. You go and open them all. GOOD LUCK

Carol | 5/21/2009, 11:10 am EST

I think he should do his own album but I would love to see him be the lead singer for Queen too.

Zelda Virgin | 5/21/2009, 11:12 am EST

Adam can do anything. He’s destined to be a mega-star, the 21st century Elvis. I don’t care what he puts out, I’ll be buying it. And as for demographics, I’m 55, so go figure.

Sally Jo | 5/21/2009, 11:13 am EST

I hope Adam does a litle of everything. That’s what I love about him – his ability to be versatile and amazing at each thing. It was great hearing and watching him do all the different types of songs he did on Idol. He’s the best entertainer to come along for a long time, in my opinion. Can’t wait for his first CD!

Gaias Child | 5/21/2009, 11:13 am EST

The boy will be bigger than Elvis. There’s no hurry. I think if he wants to tour with Queen he will. If he wants contracts, he’ll have his choice. There’s never been anything like him on Idol. And he can do movies. He can do Broadway. Whatever he does, likely he can attract three generations at once, even mine, the creaky ole grandmas who still think Kiss is appalling.

Teal | 5/21/2009, 11:14 am EST

I loved Adam from the moment I heard him sing. He totally captivated me everytime he performed. He is a modern day Elvis (with a few minor differences, lol). He was so much better than Kris!! I couldn’t believe he lost. I was so mad I almost threw the remote at the tv and promised to never watch American Idol again. But, I do think he should put out his own music and maybe even try to do a movie. That would be awesome!! I know I would pay for an album or go see a movie with him in it any day!

Deb | 5/21/2009, 11:18 am EST

While Adam would make a great singer in Queen or Velvet Revolver, I would love to see him do his own album. Adam is truly unique. He brings back something to music that’s been missing for so long. That’s part of his charisma. We love to see what he’s going to do next. I haven’t been this excited about music in ages.

Marilyn | 5/21/2009, 11:20 am EST

Adam is so versatile; I wouldn’t limit him just to put out glam rock album. His first album should be a mix of everything, glam rock, pop, ballads, R&B, eastern and even classical/opera music with a twist. He should also consider good movie roles and do Broadway as well; he should never forget his roots. He’s so talented that it wouldn’t do any justice if he limits himself to one area. God bless Adam.

RoRo | 5/21/2009, 11:21 am EST

Well, first of all, Velvet Revolver would have to be receptive of the idea, and I’m not so sure that would be a good type of music for Adam. He sounded really great on Whole lotta love, but that’s not the type of music they usually play, is it?

alwaysright58 | 5/21/2009, 11:21 am EST

Adam will NOT be handcuffed by the FOX rupert murdock chains — He will be able to do MORE now!

isla | 5/21/2009, 11:22 am EST

Broadway is over for Adam. Iconic singer now.

Molly | 5/21/2009, 11:22 am EST

Not an Adam fan as he acted like he was better than everyone else. Was rooting for Kris or Danny to win as they don’t have giant egos and seem down to earth. So happy Kris won. Love his singing style.

Sarah Woodall | 5/21/2009, 11:23 am EST

Adam should definitely get to work on his own album. He has amazing talent and was by far the best talent on AI. Whatever he makes will bring in more success in the long run than anything AI puts out with it’s current, forgettable winner. I can’t wait for his album, and I know plenty of people in the 20-55 age group that agree with me.

Kara Patton | 5/21/2009, 11:24 am EST

Whatever he does, you bet I’ll purchase, download, and play it loud! I’m thrilled about music again thanks to Adam. His passion and ability to channel rock-n-roll legends makes him the hottest thing to happen to the industry in years. I haven’t bought an album since 2004, but I purchased every song he sang on itunes! Can’t wait to see him live!

Moi | 5/21/2009, 11:25 am EST

It brings tears to my eyes… once again my fellow Americans opt for white bread: “attractive in a bland sort of way, adequate, banal, uninspiring, boring, and flavorless” over true talent. What is with this country, anyway? Whatever… I think we will be enjoying Adam for many years to come. Kris should hop into a boy band so everything doesn’t rest on his shoulders alone.

eX1 | 5/21/2009, 11:25 am EST

Being a Musician myself ( not a singer ) LOL .. I agree with all of the above said….. Adam now is FREE to be ADAM and can do exactly what he wants to do. He has so much going for him I cannot wait to hear what he as an Artist puts together.
I hope he does not choose to be a fill in for an already established Super Group even though it would not be such a Bad thing …. Adam I believe is one of those Artists that has something that will surprise us all and give us something Fresh to listen to. One example is ” RING of FIRE ” What he did with that just Blew me away and it is one of My Favorites that I Downloaded from iTunes.
Yep ….. Not winning the Title at A I just may just be a Blessing in Disguise :-)

isla | 5/21/2009, 11:27 am EST

He can and will do everything, I think, just as he did on the show. Whatever he sings is crazy good. A fearless performer. And the big guns are behind him all the way, from Slash to Kiss to Fergie to Smokey… He has cast a pretty big shadow over the winner and over the show itself really. He out-idolled Idol.

Cookiebr7 | 5/21/2009, 11:28 am EST

Adam is the real winner of American Idol. I hope he puts out a great record and makes people think! He should do whatever he wants after establishing himself as an independent artist.I would love to see him in acting, modeling, and with his own line of accessories, clothing, and even guyliner. People will go nuts for it. The guy has MEGA STAR written all over him!

kels | 5/21/2009, 11:28 am EST

Losing Idol was the best possible thing for Adam – now he doesn’t have to be neutered by Kara’s lame cliche-addled song for the tour and his first single. Imagine that schmaltzfest moth-balling what I hope will be a spectacular debut album. Adam is a superstar. Easily this generation’s Elvis, Mariah, Bono and Yorke all rolled into one.

michelle | 5/21/2009, 11:30 am EST

Adam can do anything and it will turn to gold. He IS the music when he takes on a song. I hope he has a variety of sounds on his cd because he has a very nuanced voice that really conveys the meaning of everything he sings. I do love the big voice, Queen, etc. but he has the potential to create “his own thing” as he said of Michael Jackson. He is a once in a lifetime talent and it would be a shame to get pidgeon holed as a hard rock or glam rock only artist when he has so much more to offer. Nobody’s voice, in any genre, can touch his.

mimiindiana | 5/21/2009, 11:30 am EST

adam has what several generations have been missing….star quality.I’m 62 and you can bet I’ll be buying and downloading his work….If you’re edgy, inventive, eyebrow raising, then you can be an icon…elvis, cher, gene simmons…all have superstar quality….michael jackson….they all knew how to work it

ChristineD | 5/21/2009, 11:33 am EST

I think Adam will use his versatility and do a little bit of everything musically – glam rock albums, big time concert tours, AND Broadway. But I think history will reflect his role as a culture-shifter. His style is edgy, risky and firmly rooted in the flashiness of glam rock. BUT his personality and attitude are anything but flashy and superficial. What a breath of fresh air this humble, positive classy guy is! Just from the few statements we have heard from him, off “Idol script”, he proves that he is a thinker and a feeler. A recurring theme for him is “if you are someone who doesn’t ‘fit in’, you are still a worthy person”. I think this (combined with his killer vocal abilities) has made him so popular. Everyone wants to feel good about themselves and Adam has a way of making you want to be nicer to yourself and everyone around you. Corny or not, it’s true.

MEarnshaw | 5/21/2009, 11:33 am EST

I think anything Adam Lambert decides to do will be awesome. He was the reason that kept me watching Idol with enthusiasm this season. I couldn’t wait to hear what he had to sing from week to week. In fact, I even enjoyed listening to songs I would never have listened to in the past. He has such a soothing voice. I wish he would hurry up and put out an album so that I can run to the store to purchase it. He has such an incredible presence and demeanor. He is truly a one-of-a-kind artist. I was truly bummed when he didn’t win. But no matter, America will shortly see how wrong they were.

IdolFan | 5/21/2009, 11:34 am EST

I see Maybelline commercials in his future.

Jeanne | 5/21/2009, 11:36 am EST

Can’t wait for Adam’s first album… it should be a mix of all types of music, he is so good at re-inventing the old and the new… He will have a much better career doing his own thing now… I just hope he has a great agent who allows him to be ADAM !!!

ronzo | 5/21/2009, 11:38 am EST

Kris is a nice guy but in 2 years, the only thing that he’ll be known for is the guy who beat Adam Lambert on American Idol. Lambert will, I suspect rise to iconic levels over the next ten years and transcend American Idol in ways they never expected.

Keegan | 5/21/2009, 11:44 am EST

I can’t wait until Adam releases his music. I’ve already bought his songs that he performed on Idol on iTunes.

Carolyn | 5/21/2009, 11:44 am EST

People who think Adam acted better than everyone else didn’t watch all of the shows since he was VERY humble for someone that has such HUGE talent. At first I was disappointed that main stream America played it safe- but then I realized that everyone on here is right- Adam can take the ball and run with it- right to the top! I will be there to buy everyone of his CDs and then some!

red | 5/21/2009, 11:44 am EST

I think that Adam is, by far, the more talented, entertaining singer. I really enjoy his style of singing. Kris is a fine singer, but is not exciting.

Adam will go far, I’m sure. I look forward to buying any album he produces. He has an excellent future ahead of him.

Teresa | 5/21/2009, 11:45 am EST

I think Adam deserved to lose. He can sing, but mainly he just screams and I personally find him pretty annoying, not only is he weird to look at with his guyliner and funky hairdo, he is just plain strange.

chickc | 5/21/2009, 11:46 am EST

Forget Queen because he will always be seen as the guy trying to replace Mercury (in a very old bad). Forget Gaga…its silly music for one hit wonders. Forget Broadway (for now), he’s been there and done that and that would just show defeat. Don’t try and reinvent glitter rock. All these things are stereotypical, pigeon- holed areas.

Hire a great producer who will put a killer band behind him and just call it “ADAM”. Then do a series of rock ballads and a couple of killer hard rock tunes. However they come out, they will be signature Adam Lambert and don’t label them anything. The press will do that for him.

dude | 5/21/2009, 11:49 am EST

in response to the headline: Nothing.

Linda T. | 5/21/2009, 11:50 am EST

I am still not over the shock that Adam didn’t win. I just can’t believe it. He was the reason I watch AI this year. He is so very talented and so entertaining. I would buy any his record in a heart beat and I would go see him in concerts! Can’t wait! Someone should demand what the margin of the vote is between the two of them. I voted all night and kept getting busy signals. I finally stop after 11:00 pm and go to sleep. I was sure he’s the winner giving the fact that I couldn’t even get through on the phone line!!! It’s just so wrong. Don’t ever change Adam. So many people out there love what you do. You will have a bright future again of you. No doubt about it!

Karin | 5/21/2009, 12:00 pm EST

I think he should do a Rock album, not become the Freddy Mercury replacement, maybe do some guest tours with both Queen and Kiss that would be great!
When he stepped in front of Kiss last night it was like he just stepped into his element, but to be honest with his voice he could do anything from Country to heavy metal and I’d buy it.
I haven’t been this excited about a new voice in 25 years, hes amazing.

Dee | 5/21/2009, 12:01 pm EST

Adam can sing anything. His talent is rare. Unlike most of the IDOL contestants who shine when the song fits them perfectly, Adam can make any song shine. I think leaving him to express himself vocally will yield an amazing result. I also hopes he takes time to do some live performances. He’s a natural entertainer and so much fun to watch. I’ll buy anything that he records.

O. | 5/21/2009, 12:05 pm EST

Adam didn’t appear to be upset about loosing. He had an immediate big smile upon hearing the results. I was dismayed, but relieved that he doesn’t have to sing that awful “Idol” song although I bet Kara would have preferred Adam to record it over Kris. Kris seems like a real nice guy and I wish him the best. Adam on the other hand is electrifying. I love the whole glam rock having been raised on Bowie, NY Dolls, Mott the Hoople, Lou Reed, etc, etc. I agree with others that Adam has the talent to become a legend (yes, maybe even another Elvis). I can’t remember the last time I was so captivated by a performer. It would have been a nice touch to the year 2009 to have had Adam crowned as Idol, if in fact he is gay or bi; our first African American president, the first gay Idol – not that you can compare the two but to me it would be another indicator of progress towards acceptance and tolerance. That’s my 2 cents.

adamsgpfan | 5/21/2009, 12:06 pm EST

Responding to the headline, Adam will have our support for anything he does. Many fans are waiting for him to release his own records.

I agree with ex1, Adam’s version of the “Ring of Fire” is also one of my favorites. Adam is superb!

Lord Adam is our Idol!

RoRo | 5/21/2009, 12:07 pm EST

Well, first of all, Velvet Revolver would have to be receptive of the idea, and I’m not so sure that would be a good type of music for Adam. He sounded really great on Whole lotta love, but that’s not the type of music they usually play, is it? Now, Queen, on the other hand – I can see that. Wish him the very best, whatever. Would love to see him land in a top name band or something highly successful.

AnnieJay | 5/21/2009, 12:08 pm EST

Adam! What more can be said? The new Elvis, Freddie Mercury. America you got it wrong. Adam is the best singer/performer to come along in decades.

LIVE LIFE | 5/21/2009, 12:08 pm EST

ADAM ROCKED A.I. LAST NIGHT. HE LOOKED AND SANG AS IF HE WAS ONE OF THE HEADLINER GUEST STARS. HE OUTPERFORMED KRIS EACH WEEK.. ALL OF YOU THAT FEEL YOU ARE NOT A GREAT SINGER ,TRY OUT FOR A.I. ANYWAY. IT IS A PERSONALITY CONTEST ,NOT A SINGING CONTEST.

Susan L | 5/21/2009, 12:10 pm EST

I can’t wait to see/hear what Adam chooses to do. Any genre is open to him, because it appears that he can do it all…exceptionally well. He has turned me on to music I haven’t been listening to. I am going to miss seeing him every week so much. love, love, love what he did all season…love, love, love what he was doing in the past on his own…I am sure I will love, love, love what he chooses to do in the future. Best of luck to you Adam!

floyd | 5/21/2009, 12:11 pm EST

Adam is, by far, the most talented artist to have ever graced the “Idol” stage. I have been a jazz musician my whole life and can honestly say that Adam can cover the whole spectrum of music
from rock to jazz and from Broadway to Nashville.

LadyMercury | 5/21/2009, 12:11 pm EST

Lesa Desa, I totally agre with you. I said from the first moment I heard Adam that he should front for Queen. We all know that no one can replace Freddie, but Adam would definitely be a tribute to him and do his songs justice…unlike Paul Rogers. I was sooo excited when I saw Queen enter the stage with him. Been waiting all season to hear Adam sing Queen. I’m a 60 yr. old grandmother, and I’m totally a Queen fan, but Adam is fantastic.

No matter what he decides to do, he will be a mega star. Kris needed the AI venue to make it, and after a year or so, he will probably disappear into obscurity. We’ll be seeing a lot of Adam for years to come.

O. | 5/21/2009, 12:12 pm EST

Just wanted to add that I think chickc’s idea about putting a band together called “ADAM” is fabulous!! And I can’t get the cash out of my wallet fast enough for an Adam cd!

carrie | 5/21/2009, 12:14 pm EST

Adam can do anything and we will buy it. My husband and I were heart broken last nite but we know he will be around. Can’t wait for his album and concert. I have never been passionate about music, but Adam did it for me. So, it doesn’t matter what he chooses to do next, we will be a fan for sure.

LisaH | 5/21/2009, 12:14 pm EST

Not Broadway (people who say he should go back to musical theater drive me CRAZY)! No to Queen! We want Adam to be Adam the individual. He needs to put out his own albums and NOT be tied to one genre. He can showcase his unique talents any way that he chooses — surprise us, Adam, like you always have. The accompanying music videos and concerts will blow us away! I for one, can’t wait. What he does will totally eclipse what he did on Idol.

Lady Jayne | 5/21/2009, 12:16 pm EST

The outcome of AI last night was incredibly predicable. Simon Cowell backtracted on his call, which was originally Adam, based on what? Totally and completely coerced. Lucky, lucky Adam! A star is born!

LYoung | 5/21/2009, 12:18 pm EST

I haven’t been this disappointed in an American Idol winner since that gray-haired what’s-his-name took the title a few years back. Taylor WHO? Perhaps the writer is correct – maybe it’s better NOT to win. I also tried to vote during the 4 available voting hours and received a busy signal for Adam (on all 3 lines) every single time. I thought he had it won. Would love to see that margin as well. Best of luck Adam – not that you’ll need it with that much talent.

Izzy | 5/21/2009, 12:20 pm EST

Last night was a shock. But he doesn’t need to be the American Idol to prove that he can sing. He can rock the house with or w/o the title. No matter what he does, he’ll be a big success…and I can’t wait!!!

utahmom | 5/21/2009, 12:27 pm EST

My 10 year old daughter and her friends were extremely upset Adam didn’t win. ADAM they are your future customers and they LOVE and play over and over FEELING GOOD, TRACKS OF MY TEARS, MAD WORLD, IF I CAN’T HAVE YOU,A CHANGE IS GONNA COME and yes-RING OF FIRE. umm they don’t like the hard rock songs (not sure why) and they hated the KISS song. Adam may have missed the “TWEEN” market but he captured the kids hearts coming up behind them. His handlers should pay attention to this age group.

Lady Jayne | 5/21/2009, 12:27 pm EST

The outcome of AI last night was incredibly predicable. Simon Cowell backtracted on his call, which was originally Adam, based on what? Totally and completely coerced. Lucky, lucky Adam! A star is born no matter which direction he chooses to go!

Cheryl | 5/21/2009, 12:27 pm EST

I think you IDIOTS that are looking at a MUSIC COMPETITION need to understand that it is a search for TALENT!! IF you are not interested in that then dont want the god damn show!!!

I am so sick of this nonsense! And the nerve of you fools that post that he is NOT TALENTED should be ashamed. You do not have to like him to admit that he is clearly better than the rest!

No wonder this country is the way it is. Morons like you continue can not think outside the box! Mindless IDIOTS!!

Anonymous | 5/21/2009, 12:29 pm EST

The outcome of AI last night was incredibly predicable. Simon Cowell backtracted on his call, which was originally Adam, based on what? Totally and completely coerced. Lucky, lucky Adam! A star is born no matter which direction he chooses to go!

lc | 5/21/2009, 12:29 pm EST

Hell, he could do GlamRock on Monday and Tuesdays, sing with Brian Weds, Thursdays, and Fridays, then do the Great White Way (Broadway) on the weekends! He can do just about anything he desires!

pleazurs | 5/21/2009, 12:33 pm EST

Adam was completely robbed of the idol win, but now he will be a little more free, after his year contract. Adam doesnt need a band to be a star. He alone will be a phenomenon, something we havent seen in a while.

adele | 5/21/2009, 12:34 pm EST

As soon as Gokey was out I knew Adam would not win. Now I am so glad he did not. He needs to be kept out of the corporate clutches of the Idol folk, who would want to rework his look and mainstream him. He was a winner from day 1, and a WORLD class star. I am 69 and can’t wait to paint my nails black and follow him!!! He is the answer to the blanding of America. He needs to be out there on the edge where he belongs, and we all need to be there with him!!

larkwoodgirl | 5/21/2009, 12:42 pm EST

I think Adam is so versatile that he can do whatever he wants. He rocked with Queen last night. He was also great with A Change Gonna Come. He is also a fantastic pop singer. Whatever he does, it will be interesting and I will definitely buy it.

heartbreak | 5/21/2009, 12:46 pm EST

OK i called and called for Adam and only got to vote a few times in the 3 hours of busy signals. Then I read on Kris blog group that you need to text because it is counted EVERY TIME. Adam fans were all calling and Kris fans were texting…so thats how Adam lost….meanwhile my phone shows hundreds of calls with BUSY SIGNALS!

PhDude | 5/21/2009, 12:47 pm EST

Adam is AMAZING! He will be a huge star whatever he does. I will be first in line to buy his concert tickets and download his tunes.

Linda | 5/21/2009, 12:47 pm EST

Adam will soar and it will be more like Kris who?

CC Scott | 5/21/2009, 12:51 pm EST

Adam’s destiny is now completely in his hands. After all the voting which was out of his control, he is now free of all of that and can chart his own course. It saddens me to think that he may have lost due to his look, lifestyle, or some other outward sign people may have taken into consideration. All you had to do was close your eyes and listen. The boy’s got pipes! Even if you didn’t like the song the talent is undeniable. Once you truely listened then all you had to do was take a look at him, a good look at him. He is passionate about his craft, perfect in every aspect of his performance, and posesses a genuine humility of sheer happines for others. He is an incredible role model.

Lisa | 5/21/2009, 12:54 pm EST

Whatever Adam does, I’ll want a front row seat! I believe he has the ability to go down in music history with his iconic presence and insane talent. The fact that he didn’t win makes the American Idol process seem ridiculous. He is a class act.

GG | 5/21/2009, 12:57 pm EST

Whatever this kid wants to do….that’s what he’ll be able to do…because quite simply put, he can do anything. He’s so talented. And not being the winner doesn’t always mean that a person is a loser….especially whenn it comes to AI.

NBall | 5/21/2009, 12:57 pm EST

Definitely stunned, thats for sure.
But Adam is not the type to quit! I agree, push the boundries, but I would LOVE to see him appear as a guest vampire on TWILIGHT!!! There’s something so seductive about him, it’s almost haunting! He could also record an opener song for the hot new flick!!

grakky | 5/21/2009, 1:02 pm EST

I don’t buy anyone’s CD’s at all mainly because there might be 1-2 songs on there and the rest I can’t stand BUT, I’ll be buying anything Adam releases without hearing a single note first.

Kitty | 5/21/2009, 1:02 pm EST

My head is stil spinning! What the ‘Hell’ happened last night? Adam was obviously (to us all) going to be the Winner. A Perfect package that should be in Las Vegas, but when I tried to call to vote for him on his 3 lines they were ALL busy right up until at least 11p.m.. I thought it strange & switched over to try Kris’ numbers…they also were Full, so how did anybody get on? I read that when somebody dialed Adam’s number, the confirmation said
“Thankyou for voting for contestant #2″….” Hello!!” Something was definitely NOT RIGHT!!

Patrice | 5/21/2009, 1:07 pm EST

Teresa:
Go back to hicksville where you belong and leave the rest of us alone. This is an article about Adam and his talent. We don’t need your shallow assessments about things that don’t matter. Adam’s “shrieks” as you call it, is indicative of his incredible range, and if you had looked beyond your aversion to his glam persona and listened to all of his music, you’d realize he can do anything. Unlike the admitted nice guy Kris, who has one genre, one way of doing things (like ALL the Idol winners). As for Adam, I have never bought any download from AI until him (I bought every one); have never gone to see an Idol Tour, will for this one season only and to see Adam, and will buy and pay to see him wherever he goes and whatever he does. Period. What does that say? Watch Adam go into the stratosphere, and Kris, even though I wish him well, will do moderately well, at best.

Norman | 5/21/2009, 1:07 pm EST

Until he takes it down a notch, I would think a lot of folks out there could care less what Adam does next. And those who do will likely tire of the manic excessiveness before long. He will come and go and fast as you can shake a stick. He’s just another Lady Gaga.

SunStudio | 5/21/2009, 1:09 pm EST

Adam’s career will just begin now. The American Idol title means nothing and he is under no contract now. I truly CANNOT believe he lost to Kris Allen. I can;t wait to see who picks up Adam or what he will do, he is already a superstar. It’s just pure travesty this happened, but in a way it’s better for him. A change is going to come for sure, he will rock the world without a meaningless contract from AI. I think they made a huge mistake. Alot of fans won’t tune into future seasons of Idol.

Patrice | 5/21/2009, 1:10 pm EST

I agree with the commenter – I voted all 4 hours (also the first time I’ve ever voted on AI was this season) and got almost constant busy signals. I don’t have AT&T so can’t text. They need to limit the amount of times you can vote – otherwise, this show is a joke. I will never watch the drivel again. But at least I am glad I watched this year and found Adam (and secondarily, Allison).

Patrice | 5/21/2009, 1:12 pm EST

Norman, search adam on You Tube or listen to his studio recordings. The man can do anything. As for being gone quickly, I think it is Kris or any of the others you are talking about. I’ll be thinking of you and others like you when I am laughing at all the awards Adam wins over the coming years and the megastar in the making.

Clarkson | 5/21/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Norman,

You are stupid. Go listen to one of Kris’s performances maybe it will help you sleep and clear your head cause it is so boring. As boring as the comments you are making about Adam. Sit back and watch Adam take on the world now. I don’t think people will tire of that Norman.

coco83 | 5/21/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Norman thats is so stupid get with the times adam will be a big hit he’s just what the rock world needs

kit-kat | 5/21/2009, 1:24 pm EST

I don’t care what Adam does. If he fronts Queen, I will see it (I love Queen and was waiting for him to do Queen all season). No one can replace Freddie Mercury (NO ONE) but Adam would sound amazing! If he does Broadway, I will travel from Philly to NY to see it (and eat at Carmine’s!). Whenever he releases his album I will buy it.

He is amazing and should have won! But congrats to Kris, it was an amazing ride to the end.

Olga | 5/21/2009, 1:26 pm EST

chickc – I totally agree with you!!

Olga | 5/21/2009, 1:29 pm EST

Adam is unique and he doesn’t need to take anyone’s path. He has his own path infront of him and it is great! I’ll buy everything he produces!

Lucy | 5/21/2009, 1:32 pm EST

Norman, your comment was unbelievably stupid. Adam is talented and innovative and he came to stay! You’re just one of those narrow mined people that hate anything that’s different.

Lucy | 5/21/2009, 1:38 pm EST

I wanna see Adan on RollingStone magazine’s cover!!!!

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 1:38 pm EST

I am sad that American Idol is over and that I dont have my Tuesdays with Adam Lambert anymore but I am also excited for him and I know he will do GREAT! It was plain common sense that Adam should have won even Kris knew that. I wont be watching anymore American Idols because they just “fixed” to me.

Josie | 5/21/2009, 1:39 pm EST

Whatever ADAM does will be the BOMB! He may not have won but he’ll prove to America and the world that HE’s a much better IDOL than what’s his name!!!

Josie | 5/21/2009, 1:44 pm EST

Norman, obviously you do not know TALENT when you see one. ADAM is one of not the BEST talent I have seen in AI. Go ADAM! Go ADAM! Go ADAM!!!! Watch ADAM win the GRAMMY and all of that! Huh!!!

why why why | 5/21/2009, 1:50 pm EST

why do people still watch this show???

melanie from CANADA | 5/21/2009, 1:54 pm EST

Adam is the best I can`t not beleave how the American peoples got it that wrong is this because hi is different. SAD SAD kris was not half that good. I am still thinking it a mistake…….ADAM you ROCK. Peace

kurt | 5/21/2009, 1:55 pm EST

can anyone tell me what was the name of the song adam sang in the final please?

jeff | 5/21/2009, 1:55 pm EST

was dissapointed adam didn t win but will buy his cd 59 year old still loves good music person so bring it on adam my wallets waiting to buy

krista | 5/21/2009, 1:58 pm EST

adam lambert is a really good singer and that I think that adam is awesome and that he should of won the show because he just belts it out. adam will be making a cd for himself and it will be a good cd, so good luck adam, i love you.

rachel | 5/21/2009, 2:05 pm EST

Adam is like this rock hard guy, the way he dresses just shows it, he has talent,he is always smiling, and he has carisma.when he gets on stage, thats it for him,im glad that he came this far for the american idol show.

joanne | 5/21/2009, 2:08 pm EST

I have never bought an American Idol CD, but I can’t wait till Adam makes one, I will be the first in line to buy it. He is the best artist to walk across American Idol stage. Considering how Daughtry and Hudson made out, I think its probably better to get 2nd place, more options are opened to you

mojo | 5/21/2009, 2:12 pm EST

Molly, I don’t know what show you were watching, but one of the appealing things about Adam was the
fact that he was very humble and I never felt he gave off the vibe of being better than anyone. He was genuinely happy for each and every one of his fellow contestants. He took his loss with grace and showed true happiness for Kris.

I totally feel he was cheated out of the #1 spot. He is a true talent and I am a 67 year old grandmother who has watched the show from the very beginning. My friends, co-workers and whole family was voted for Adam.

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 2:13 pm EST

I think Adam should do some kind of show, watching him perform is part of his great appeal. I will desperately miss seeing him every week. I am seriously having withdrawals as I write this. The TWEENS are responsible for his second place finish. Texting their little fingers off for the “cute” guy from Arkansas. Ridiculous that Kris of all people won. Adam has more talent in his little pinkie than Kris will ever have. FOR SHAME AMERICANS WHO DID NOT vote for Adam. He is my idol, I don’t ever plan on watching that show again. From this point forward if they don’t put a limit on how many votes can be placed from one phone line we will never have a great idol winner again. ADAM RULES!!!

Anonymous | 5/21/2009, 2:23 pm EST

Adam IS the winner. He’s way too cool to forever have the corny “American Idol” title linked to his name. I’m thankful this contest brought his talent and charisma into the public eye…I feel sure he will not be lacking offers!

Tracy | 5/21/2009, 2:23 pm EST

Adam IS the winner. He’s way too cool to forever have the corny “American Idol” title linked to his name. I’m thankful this contest brought his talent and charisma into the public eye…I feel sure he will not be lacking offers!

By the way | 5/21/2009, 2:29 pm EST

Of course the “Idol song” is horrible, but go to iTunes and download Adam’s version. All Adam fans need to unite and make his download of that song more popular than Kris’. Actually, if you listen to Adam’s version he makes the song his own. Listen to the sample of Kris’ version, the song is too big for him. He is flat in the chorus – yuk!

JP | 5/21/2009, 2:29 pm EST

Muse is already the Queen of the 21st century …

as good as Brian May is, Queen needs to hang it up. They shouldn’t have toured with Paul Rodgers and they shouldn’t tour with Adam.

haha. | 5/21/2009, 2:32 pm EST

No, he is NOT the winner. America chose. Adam loses. Get over it.

barbara | 5/21/2009, 2:32 pm EST

What a travesty that Adam did NOT win. But I must say that he very well may be better off since now HE can choose his own career path and with the massive talent and love for his craft that he possesses he WILL rock the world of music…no doubt about it. Winning IDOL may have really stymed the breath of this kid’s talents. I can’t wait to hear what he does next. The world is his oyster! Reach for the stars Adam! You are one of the truly bright ones!!

Constituent | 5/21/2009, 2:34 pm EST

It is simple for me to “digest” AI Season 8 results:

1. Kris and Adam each won the same car. (They both won)
2. Kris and Adam received an equal amount of incredible publicity, here in North America, and in all other locations on this planet that this show is broadcast. (They both won)
3. Kris received the AI contract which puts his musical career in a place that would have been very difficult, perhaps impossible for him to achieve on his own. (Kris won)
4. Adam got the freedom to pursue any musical direction he desires. Essentially, Adam is now a “free agent,” which is clearly the best thing for his musical career. (Adam won)

To summarize, they both won. You hear the judges say all season, “It is all about song choice.” Now, for both Kris and Adam, “It is all about song choice” again, but this time the consequences of their choices will result in career direction and financial stability.

Post Idol thought | 5/21/2009, 2:34 pm EST

Of course when Adam releases his first CD it will be a worldwide sensation. I will buy immediately.

But, what if “A Star is Born” was re-written to feature a younger rock star instead of an aging one. It could star Adam – he would rock. I’m in line to buy tickets already.

kolsdajfsdho | 5/21/2009, 2:37 pm EST

oh ew. if adam gets into queen i will stop listening to them. like adam isnt that great, neither was kris. but im extremely happy that kris won. you people only voted for him kuz you thought he was hot. next time actually listen, its a vocal contest not looks

Come on Ford | 5/21/2009, 2:40 pm EST

Oh, and what’s up with giving rock stars Ford Fusions? They should have gotten Mustang convertibles – Holla!

Jan | 5/21/2009, 2:42 pm EST

I am an over 60 female and have been absolutly captivated by Adam. I grew up with all of the greats. Adam did remind me of my first crush Elvis. I am surprised that no one has comented on how you could barely make out some of the words to the songs that Kris sang. It almost sounded like he had a mouth full of marshmallows. I will be buying anything Adam does

Gigi | 5/21/2009, 2:48 pm EST

Adam is a rocker, pure and simple. I’ll go see him any time in concert and will buy his album/cd’s when they drop. Could not take my eyes off him, and love his voice and creativity. Rock on Adam!

Gigi | 5/21/2009, 2:52 pm EST

kolsdajfsdho: It was in fact a “singing” contest and not vote for the safe, cute country boy who was not even close to being half the singer or performer Adam is. All of Arkansas voted for Kris. Let’s see who sells out more concerts and c.d.’s – my money is on Adam!

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 2:56 pm EST

KOLSDJFSDHO (whatever that means) You are a complete idiot to think any of us voted for Adam based on looks. Have you not noticed the 60+ women on this site. I am 43, and personally think Kris is better looking. APPARENTLY YOU ARE HARD OF HEARING IF YOU THINK ADAM IS NOT THAT GOOD. At the very least tone deaf. Give me a break. Like I said Adam has more talent in his little pinkie than Kris will ever have. ADAM ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! You need to go to a site that is talking about Kris if you think he is so good and leave those of us who know who the real idol is alone!

stthompson | 5/21/2009, 3:01 pm EST

FIrst thing is first, the idiot that said Muse is the next Queen should be hit by a car. Yes Adam can try to become the male Lady Gaga and be famous for what, the next 5 years. If he really wants t make his mark on the music industry he should join up with Brian and Roger. Few artist have the ability to tackle Freddie Mercury vocals. Throw a curve ball into the music industry. Do something tha will make you famous for decades not just for the current musical trend

Emeraldeyes | 5/21/2009, 3:05 pm EST

Adam needs to bring back the glam rock scene. I’m 20, me and all of my friends love the 70s-80s because that’s what we grew up listening to with our parents. We’d love to have an artist like that to claim as our own.

Toronto, Canada | 5/21/2009, 3:10 pm EST

Kris won the battle, but ultimately Adam will win the war. Doesn’t really matter what side of the fence you sit on, it is so obvious who the better entertainer and singer is. Obviously Americans aren’t as opened minded as they pretend to be. You all know why Kris won – he’s vanilla through and through and that’s what America identifies with. God forbid you think outside of the box!

Adam Lambert LOVE | 5/21/2009, 3:11 pm EST

He Should bring back Glam Rock

vj | 5/21/2009, 3:15 pm EST

Although I LOVED Adam singing with Queen last night – and he totally rocked – poor Kris couldn’t hold Adam’s sequined jock strap, I don’t think he should saddle up with them. Sure, maybe at an award ceremony or for some special event, but they are too old for Adam. He needs his own gig. All of the rockers are 50+. Give us a new rock god that is in his prime – ADAM! Of course from what I’ve read, Adam wants to make a “fusion” type album, something will a lot of different sounds. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the musical genius gives us.

AdamFanInChina | 5/21/2009, 3:19 pm EST

The first time I saw the video for “Poker Face”, I thought, “Wow, I hope Adam Lambert makes male equivalents of music videos like this after American Idol.” If not in terms of music style, he should definitely become the male Gaga in terms of visuals and attitude.

Becca | 5/21/2009, 3:23 pm EST

I really would buy songs from nearly all of the top 13 this season. Maybe 2 or 3 that I wouldn’t pay to hear but still. I’ve missed the last few seasons but there was so much talent this year. It’ll be hard to top. I think Adam is a once in a lifetime kind of entertainer and artist. I’ll be watching for anything he’ll be doing in the future. Too bad it wasn’t Allison and Adam at the end. But Chris would have been 3rd after them for me. I look forward to hearing more from Chris also but my pick was Adam, then Allison, then Chris. I hope Adam stays big for decades to come!

Tess | 5/21/2009, 3:23 pm EST

I would Loooovvve to see Adam on the cover of Rolling Stone…..He is amazing!!!! The best thing that has happened to him is NOT winning AI. Adam…We love you and will buy hundreds of your CD’s……..

Annie | 5/21/2009, 3:24 pm EST

ADAM YOU ROCK MY WORLD

Swingline | 5/21/2009, 3:25 pm EST

Only thing that will work with this guy is glam rock. Could give a shit if he can sing the entire spectrum, the question is how many demographics outside of Idol’s bubblegum umbrella could he really influence?

And unless you’re Bowie or Lou Reed (HE’S NOT), the glam window is a short one. Ask Bret Michaels how many years he was out of the game until reality TV revived his career.

The only time glam rock seems to be relevant historically is when rock music has taken a turn for the worst. Best advice is to get it while it’s good cause that window WILL shut.

Annie | 5/21/2009, 3:26 pm EST

When will get to see Adam’s face on the cover of Rolling Stone??????

Catherine | 5/21/2009, 3:27 pm EST

I’m almost 47, have seen a lot of great bands come and go from several decades, but I believe Adam was not only the deserving winner but the better singer, musician, “Idol” potential. Also, I hope he never loses his apparent down-to-earth kindness and sense of fun and the unexpected. He truly seemed as happy for Kris as Kris seemed stunned to be winning.

It would have been fun if the judges had reserved their “stay” credit for the last night and nixed the American vote. But, as this article points out, it ultimately doesn’t matter. Adam is edgier, gutsier and will likely have a long and interesting career ahead of him. I’ve already forgotten Kris’ last name.

In the end, Adam was probably more than mainstream America could handle. It was also interesting that Seacrest didn’t announce how many votes Kris won by…or maybe they just never do that. I haven’t noticed.

Great all around finale, too. Although why didn’t Rod Stewart sing with anyone else? And I’m not fond of KISS at all. “Maggie May” would have been a great platform for the third place guy.

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 3:28 pm EST

Toronto Canada,

I am highly offended that you would come onto a site where the majority of us love ADAM and insult Americans in such a way. If you read the blogs on here we are the ones IN AMERICA thinking outside the box. We did not vote for Kris. By the way of the 100 million votes Kris supposedly got 38 million of them were from the state he lives in. Nix that and Adam WON!!! I love vanilla ice cream, but not Kris. Adam is the best thing to come along in years and you are right about one thing, ADAM WILL BE THE WINNER WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE.

kalfromcal | 5/21/2009, 3:32 pm EST

I am a 65 year old grandmother and lifelong lover of many kinds of music. I voted for Adam because he has a great range of intensity, sensitivity, nuance, ferocity, sensuality, humility (yes, humility), adventurousness, passion, control and stage presence. He works hard at his craft and brings something new to every song. His musical and emotional intuition is incredible. The other top guys were nice little singers with nice little voices (and a huge Christian voting pool no longer divided between Gokey and Kris). I wish Adam great success, and am grateful that through all the irritating hyperproduction of American Idol, I was able to experience Adam’s incredible talent, and feel goose bumps like I did when first hearing Elvis and The Beatles. He is GREAT.

Abigail Batton | 5/21/2009, 3:36 pm EST

Change is Gonna Come…It will just take longer than we had hoped.

Kacey | 5/21/2009, 3:39 pm EST

The show lost credibility with the way it ended (i.e., Gokey and Allison eliminated over Kris and Kris winning over Lambert), but something tells me that it could have hurt Lambert to win. I wanted him to win because he is amazing and can do ANYTHING, but I think he may be better off the way it ended. I will miss seeing his performances every week, and hope that he does TV (Grammys?Oscars?) and Broadway as well as records.

A HUGE ADAM FAN!!!!!!! | 5/21/2009, 3:39 pm EST

Adam, I was devastated that you didn’t win. I hit the internet instantly to find out what the hell happened. The reports about the rigged voting is disgusting and a shocking reflection on Americans. You are a rock GOD. We worship you in South Africa. Come and do a concert soon, you will sell out in one hour. Please make dvd’s with all your CD’s, we can’t bear not being able to watch you anymore. Thank God for Youtube, we have downloaded all your videos already. You are a legend. Elvis, Freddie, and Adam.

queenrosered | 5/21/2009, 3:41 pm EST

I think if Queen approached him to be frontman, as well as to write and record some new material, that would be awesome!!I also believe that people need to stop trying to stick him on Broadway. If he wanted that, he’d have moved to New York instead of knocking his brains out in LA for so long. He wants to be a ROCK GOD, and by God, so he IS!Or he could be the new lead for Velvet Revolver, naturally. My husband has been a professional rocker for years (retired now) and believes as I do.Adam has a rare talent, a once-in-a-generation “gift” and he simply needs to choose wisely at this point…the world is his Oyster!P.S. He could re-invent Black Sabbath if he wanted to! The only other singer I can compare him best to is Ted Neeley, the original “Jesus” from Jesus Christ Superstar. He still rocks those big notes to this day and he is 65!Or Ronnie James Dio, from Black Sabbath after Ozzy burned out. He could also do a bio movie about Freddie Mercury. Adam has a long and prosperous career ahead, regardless.

Gerryin NJ | 5/21/2009, 3:52 pm EST

I keep reading these comments about Adam always ’screaming’ and getting tired of hearing those high notes. Have these people never been to an opera? People go REPEATEDLY to the same opera to hear the tenor lead (and the soprano) soar and hit those impossibly high notes. Every famous tenor aria has the tenor sailing into the stratosphere with those delicious high notes.

SDgal | 5/21/2009, 3:53 pm EST

ADAM IS CHANELLING FREDDIE! Queen would be nuts not to sign him today. Best thing that could have happened to Adam was to be the runner-up so he can break out and be a big star instead of a teenie-bopper one-hit-wonder like Chris will be. YOU ARE THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, ADAM! Rock on!

Get a life! | 5/21/2009, 4:01 pm EST

Time to start the healing process to just “get over it”, and start planning your pity party.
Kris did not win because of “Bigots and Haters”. Kris won because the majority of America liked Kris more. Period.
They thought he sang well and relied on his musical talents of playing the guitar and piano, instead of Adam relying on playing the audience.
No conspiracy, no cheating, Kris won “Fair and Square.”

JakartaAT | 5/21/2009, 4:07 pm EST

WTF!! I got bored of the everyday Joe AI has produced over the years until Adam came along. Now I won’t watch AI again.

Rockerchick | 5/21/2009, 4:11 pm EST

Adam Lambert is ABSOLUTELY the greatest rock singer/performer in the world today – bar none! Frankly, he is a far superior singer and showman than many of the legends or r&r who precede him, with all due love & respect to the greats of the past. His passion, joy and focus gives me goosebumps. Adam is a rare extraordinary perfomer, and exactly what the world of r&r needs badly in this day of plastic, well-connected fakes.

Merle | 5/21/2009, 4:12 pm EST

Adam will be a super star no matter what. No one will care if he won AmericanIdol in 2009. So let’s be kind. Kris will do okay. There is room for everyone in the music world, but I am sure Adam will shake it up big time. I haven’t been this excited since I saw Elvis in person many years ago. I hope Adam does concerts after the AI tour is over.
And I do think AI is in trouble next year.

queenrosered | 5/21/2009, 4:22 pm EST

Teresa?? You need to get your head OUT of your butt and go over to a Kris Allen site, because you very OBVIOUSLY don’t know s**t from shinola! There was nothing “annoying” about Adam and everything fascinating! He can sing circles around Kris in his sleep for God’s sake! A year from now, people will be talking about “what’s-his-face that beat Adam Lambert” on AI, while Adam will be doing extraordinarilly wonderous things, entertaining things, award-winning things. Now go take your no-imagination ass to the fridge and make a “Kris” sandwich (white bread and mayo)LOL! ROCK ON ADAM!!

Anonymous | 5/21/2009, 4:22 pm EST

Adam is not half as good as you people think he is.

And Kris is not nearly as bad as you are making him out to be.

Proteus | 5/21/2009, 4:24 pm EST

The quotes in the RS article by all those people in “the biz” tell you all there is to know about what’s wrong with today’s music “scene.” What was cool about glam–back in the days of the NY Dolls, and Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust days–was that it was new and only for a while and everyone knew it. Queen was cool for the same reason. It featured another enormously charismatic singer with a once-in-a-generation voice (OMG now 40 years ago!) backed up by genuine musicians with godlike talent and actual musical training. They produced a unique sound and style–and put on live shows that people bragged about attending for years afterward. Much as i hated the 80s spandex and big hair metal, it at least grew organically out of a (dying) music scene in which a few bands were still pushing the envelope to find something uniquely their own.

But what are the guys in the “biz” advising Adam to do? Resurrect one dated era or another–or give a last shot in the arm to an act that hasn’t been relevant in years. They are, in short, telling him to conform himself to a well-worn niche so some unimaginative MBAs in an LA office building know which colors to use on the generic album art and how to tell whether or not their “product” is doing well or poorly against other acts of the SAME kind.

Pathetic. And effin lazy. If Adam really is a star, he’s going to take all that charisma, vocal power, and fun-to-watch showmanship he displayed week after week on AI and do something that only he can do. He’s not going to revive glam (been there, over that); he’s not going to front acts who look pudgy and tired next to his youthful beauty and energy; he’s not going to copy a modern act that’s one-and-only big cd happens to top be atop the scantron chart this month. If he’s really a star, he’s going to transcend genres and current practices in the biz and use all that crazy talent he’s got to carve his own niche.

And he’s already got a nice start going in that direction. Adam effortlessly transcended AI’s corny reality t.v. formula. You know the one: find some not-utterly-deplorable “talents” who have at least a little “material” the producers can mine for cheap sentiment (or cheap “American values” statements) and cram an hour’s worth of actual drama and excitement out for 15 weeks, only to finish hand the “big” moment over to a bunch of obsessive jittery tweens who can vote as often as mommy and daddy will let them burn up cell phone minutes.

Adam used this brain-cell-killing formula as a platform to bring something interesting and truly his own each week (think about how he handled country night!). He didn’t sing down to the incredibly low expectations AI’s producers have for their audience and contestants; he attempted something memorable and uniquely Adam each week.

Let’s hope he looks in the mirror instead of the irrecoverable past for direction.

midgiemarie | 5/21/2009, 4:26 pm EST

I’m still in shock that Adam didn’t win with all his talent and those Elvis and Kirk Russell’s good looks. I will miss not seeing him on AI. I am 59 and I will buy his CD and would love to see him in Concert. I have a picture from the Columbus OH daily news that I cut out and have it in my office at work. :) If he would open for Rascal Flatts I would have the best of both worlds.

La | 5/21/2009, 4:32 pm EST

Sanela | 5/21/2009, 4:33 pm EST

Adam, you misical genius and you sexy bist!!!! I want every inch of your love – or every note of your music!

Whatever you decide to do with your career, you will have me on your side! I will be a fan forever….

La | 5/21/2009, 4:37 pm EST

Congrats Adam….you did exactley what you needed to do. You got your name out world wide!! Get ready for the ride of you life! Poor Kris doesn’t know what is about to hit him. He will probably be divorced in 2 years…LOL

Patrick | 5/21/2009, 4:43 pm EST

Adam Lambert could be cast as the lead in the biopic, “Street Creature: The Jobriath Story”

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 4:44 pm EST

Hey smart mouth “GET A LIFE” person go somewhere else to Adam bash, we obviously don’t care what you have to say. Kris seems like a nice “boy”, but ADAM IS THE MAN and ROCKS and should not even be spoken in the same sentence or context as anyone else that has ever been on American Idol, especially Kris. What did he win anyway a stupid trophy and the adoration of a bunch of teenagers, big deal. Adam won over the WORLD!!!!!

LPAT | 5/21/2009, 4:44 pm EST

I am really pleased to see all of the support for Adam (and pleasantly surprised by all of the 60+ year old fans). I can’t think of a singer/entertainer that I have ever been more excited about (almost to the point of being obsessed). Adam definitely deserves the title because he was far better than anyone else in the competition but yet he may be better off. I am a bit disappointed that I bought Idol concert tix. I was sure Adam would be the headliner of that show. Oh well, I am ready to buy his first CD and a see his live concert. You Rock Adam!!!!!!

Lisak | 5/21/2009, 4:47 pm EST

Adam is awesome! I’m sure he’ll have a long and fabulous and surprising career and I can’t wait to buy all his records and go to his concerts.

Let’s take a page from Adam’s book of graciousness and accept that people voted for Kris because Kris did a great job .. I don’t personally think he was anywhere near the same stratosphere as Adam but tastes differ.

Meanwhile, Adam doesn’t have to spend the next year singing that terrible AI song .. he’s got a new car … he got to sing with KISS in an amazing outfit! And, most importantly, he’ll get a recording contract with a company with a marketing machine behind it and so have a shot and his real dream.

Me | 5/21/2009, 4:50 pm EST

Anyone that thinks Adam is not half as good as everyone thinks he is, is an idiot!

oldbuthip | 5/21/2009, 4:57 pm EST

How can a state with a population that barely tops 3 million cast 38 million votes? Does that mean every man, woman and child in Arkansas cast 13 votes each? Including little babies and toddlers who can’t walk, talk or type to text, and 95 year old grannies in nursing homes, and every person of every age in every household in the entire state? Hell, it ain’t even Denmark, but something sure smells rotten. And that something is the AI voting system, which allows thousands of votes to be registered from a single phone/cell number, isp, etc., and cares more about being able to trumpet on air that there were “100 million votes called in” (total viewership was estimated at just over 28 million), rather than who the actual winner was. Seriously, any credibility that American Idol REGAINED this season as a viable talent competition, thanks to Mr. Lambert’s presence on the show, has been totally LOST because of the ludicrous voting debacle. My consolation in all of this is the knowledge that, years from now, when Kris Allen is just a faded footnote in the pantheon of unremarkable Idol “winners”, I will still be able to purchase Adam’s latest platinum-selling release and tickets to see him live in concert.

That being said, I was not altogether surprised by the outcome. I predicted the least talented contestant would win (it’s practically an Idol tradition), and I was right. Despite having the clearly greater ability, Adam is too out there for the average, white-bread Idol viewer, especially those in the bible belt. In these uncertain times, the last thing they want is an artist who challenges their established notions of what an American Idol winner should be, which is to say, safe, non-threatening, predictable and, apparently, nasally tone-deaf as well. Still, it amazes me how people will, when given the choice, order pork & beans and beer from the menu, when they could have had lobster and champagne.

The Rodentman | 5/21/2009, 4:59 pm EST

I didn’t know (s)he was a male until heard that 2 “men” were in the finals.

Patrick | 5/21/2009, 5:00 pm EST

Those of you who think Adam was robbed should take the time to research the iTunes sales of Idol tracks. Kris won easily because more people want to hear him than Adam.

End of story.

(Still think a Jobriath bio-pic is overdue…)

Annie | 5/21/2009, 5:06 pm EST

That’s bull – Adam had the #1 download since Tracks of my Tears and continued all the way through the season. Unfortunately for Adam but fortunately for us there were millions of you tube videos of his performances that people copied for themselves. Free is always better for a lot of people. Anyway, get your stats right. Also, notice Kris’ downloads are towards the end of the season! None of his songs from the beginning of the season even received a mention – In fact, what songs did he sing in the beginning the season…can’t remember but have been DULL AND BORING LIKE HIS VOTERS

oldbuthip | 5/21/2009, 5:09 pm EST

Yeah, Rodentman, I was confused by Kris that way too. How could someone so cuddly cute, squishy soft and light of voice POSSIBLY be male? >.>

Lara bailey | 5/21/2009, 5:09 pm EST

Im a las vegas native and was very offended at the danny gans jab you did at the end of the article! First of all danny does impersinations and sometimes sings. Adam is a rocker! Wtf rolling stone?! DANNY GANS JUST DIED A COUPLE WEEKS AGO! SHOW SOME RESPECT! ASSHOLES!

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 5:12 pm EST

Patrick you are dead wrong. Adam has been the number one Itunes seller all season. Were you reading some crap in a paper from Arkansas or something? GET REAL!!!

Jeff | 5/21/2009, 5:19 pm EST

Three bands that are looking for singers are Queen, Zeppelin, and VR. Rather than VR though, Slash, Izzy and Duff and Matt wrote an album they call the best GnR album ever when they were forming VR, that wasnt done b/c they didn’t have the right singer-so maybe they could have him be a session vocalis on the album and do it as a one-off record.

Based on his performance w/ Queen last night, Brian May looked like he was about to sign him up right after they finsished, and according to an interview, already has an offer from them to join.

I think Jimmy page has given up on finding a singer to front Zeppelin but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t colaborate on a few songs on a Adam solo album.

Speaking of solo albums, Slash is putting together one full of various rock singers, and having lambert lay down a song would seem a good idea and fit the theme of the record. And as Slash always appears on others, maybe colloborate on a a few songs on a Lambert’s solo album.

One things for certain, he’ll have alot of options to sort thru while doing that summer AI tour.

Jacyash | 5/21/2009, 5:20 pm EST

Adam is THE winner! Like he said, doesn’t matter about tonight it’s tomorrow that counts. We WILL be seeing him for a long time and asking, Kris who? Adam strategically played this game and won hands down.

Patrick | 5/21/2009, 5:21 pm EST

Hmmmmm….

Kris has 3 tracks in the Top 10, Adam has only 1 in the Top 10.

Oh, yeah…..clearly I am wrong.

Patrick | 5/21/2009, 5:23 pm EST

There is no chance….ZERO!!!….that either will join an existing band.

Write it down!

Barbara, I don’t think my source is in Arkansas….unless they started publishing Rolling Stone there!

(DOH!)

Persona | 5/21/2009, 5:32 pm EST

It is no surprise Simon Cowell is leaving AI after this recent voting debacle which upset the clear winner for a less talented underdog. Simon knows that no one can compete with the statistically greater numbers in the present voting scheme than all of the twink loving tenny-bopper pre-adolescent females twitching in vote after vote in their texting. Also, many of the more legit voters who are anti-gay or “pro-christian values” voted with their fears, even if Adam did really excite and entertain them more than the other “safe, less morally threatening choice (Kris)”. In retrospect, it will turn out that Adam really lucked out by losing because he will not be locked-in to the CK19 AI contract and hitched to Simon Fuller’s post. Instead, Adam will be free to creatively invent and re-invent his image and sound and follow his dreams with someone like Clive Davis to guide and protect him. Did anyone actually see Clive in the telecast last night? Of course not, because Clive has been the beneficiary of all of the excellent Idol cast-offs, cherry picking the ones he wants to produce and promote and Simon Fuller is frustrated with seeing him make all the real money from the show’s effort. The world ends up being the the real winner here with people like Adam moving on to the big time without any immediate contractual limitations. After the Idol tour wraps, which Adam is contractually obligated to perform” along with the others, he is free as a bird to do what everyone hopes for and expects from his great talent!

Patrick | 5/21/2009, 5:41 pm EST

By the way, at no time have I suggested Adam is not talented or cannot sing. He has been doing musical theater since he was 10! Of COURSE he can sing.

America voted, Kris IS your American Idol, life goes on…and we still don’t have world peace, or know where Bin Laden is.

(But, Hollywood, come on….can’t you just see Adam reprising those Jobriath billboards and bus signs?)

dee | 5/21/2009, 5:45 pm EST

i think this 100 million votes thing was total bs. if ai wants to remain the number 1 viewed shows as they claim, they better get some things straight and stop pissing fans off or they’ll be fading just like some of their so called winners. adam lambert will be an icon like paula predicted. there was no competition adam lambert is a winner!

Barbara | 5/21/2009, 5:54 pm EST

Patrick I would love to see Adam on a billboard, it would be great!

steph | 5/21/2009, 5:55 pm EST

Adam has and is the whole package! Voice, looks, personality. I would love for Adam to record an Elvis song, because if anyone could do him proud, it would be Adam. Adam is amazingly talented. A true asset to the music industry!

oldbuthip | 5/21/2009, 6:02 pm EST

Persona, where did you get your information about Simon leaving? Is it a done deal? If it isn’t he should consider it. AI has lost all cred as a vehicle to find real talent. Year after year, they anoint cookie cutter hacks, (who fade into obscurity faster than they can put out a second cd), by allowing serial-texting pre-pubescent girls to determine the winner, by exploiting a seriously flawed voting system and registering thousands of votes per single phone/isp. As Simon is the only legitimate judge on the panel, who offers honest critiques to the contestants regarding their talent or lack thereof, his own credibility will suffer if he continues allowing his name to be associated with such a sham of a competition.

Kris is not bad and if there is an eve I want to mellow out with a John Sebastian or Richy Havens type of tune I truly would listen to him “that is if he can do what he does best and not be forced to be a teen pop artist” ..
But Adam has a quality an air about that is soo unique ..
Glam-Rock is a label the Media gave him, because there is no current label to describe him.
I am most excited to see what he will forge and create .. A new word/description that will describe the future direction Rock will take on under Adams for front leadership .. He is relevant attracting fans from the Anime and Twilight crowds as well as old time Rockers of all genders/labels .. I believe Adam will be the driving force that will unite a Multi-Generational fan base who are sick of being fed pablum .. And, perhaps be cutting edge that can clear a new path that will keep real Rock alive and well ..
ADAM DO WHAT U DO BEST !!

.. Just someone who has lived long enough to see the writing on the wall ..

NO reunion tours; collaboration would be cool with some of the older rockers.
NO Lady Gaga-we’d all gag, gag!

I’m certain Adam has a good idea of what he wants to do. He justs needs the right team to support him. He’s creative and wants to push the envelope. We already know he can do pop, rock and ballads. However. to be a long term, popular singer/entertainer, I feel he needs to use his lower register more often. His voice is BEAUTIFUL. Adam does NOt need to hit the highest note every other song to get noticed or be appreciated. That turned more people off than his supposed “gayness.”
I hope the PTB understand and beieve what I have written!
Remember what they did to BO Bice?

Nina | 5/21/2009, 6:23 pm EST

Jimmy Page should hire Lambert to play “Robert Plant” in a blonde wig for a Zep tour. Led Zep featuring Adam Lambert as “Robert Plant”! Musical theatre at its finest! Lambert is an actor and can outplant old man Plant easily, they will make millions, and Page can stop begging Robert Plant to tour.

Old Lady | 5/21/2009, 6:54 pm EST

I am 77 years old and I LOVE Adam Lambert. He’s the only reason that I watched American Idol this season. He is so very, very talented and I know he will have a very successful career.

boy with the thorn in his side | 5/21/2009, 6:56 pm EST

I didnt pay attention to idol because its shit but i check out the finale to see who America will washup in 2 years but the Lambert kid owns Kris and is somthing special and if does a solo record will be a queen david bowie my chemical romance cure morrisey type guy. But i think he’ll be the singer for Queen
Queen 2009 lineup
Adam Lambert:Vocals
Brian May:Guitar/Vocals
Roger Taylor:Drums/Vocals
An Unretired John Deacon:Bass/Vocals
and Spike Edney:Keyboard/Piano

Lori | 5/21/2009, 6:58 pm EST

While the idea of joining Queen at first made me smile since he fits so well, I really don’t want him to be a part of an old band. I want to see Adam do his OWN thing. I’d love to see a glammed up rock album, that is totally Adam style. That, of course, is why we all fell in love with his singing. OK, some of us ladies love his looks too, and we don’t care what his “preference” is, we love to look. But, mostly we LOVE to listen! I can’t wait to hear his first CD!

JustDave | 5/21/2009, 7:03 pm EST

Broadway. Only. He’ll live there for years…

J* | 5/21/2009, 7:04 pm EST

I just want to start by saying I LOVE ADAM! He was amazing and he should have won! I cant believe he didnt! Oh well we all know he will be the best and kris will just turn out to be another taylor hicks..(nobody) and what was up with kris’s mouth every time he would sing am i the only one who noticed he looked like a dumba** lol

HollywoodRo | 5/21/2009, 7:05 pm EST

Adam has that “special something” and a voice that we have all longed to hear for years – since many of the great artists and bands of the 70’s and 80’s. I certainly think he will become an icon of his own. Though I think it would be neat if he collaborated with musicians from the past, for now, I think he needs to create his own nitch first so he doesn’t become somewhat of a replacement for a band from the past that we already love and appreciate for what they’ve already treated us to. Adam is memorable, cool and his vocals are unbelievable! I am excited to see what he does and will be purchasing his album when it comes out. I truly believe, he will be right up there with Bowie,Freddie Mercury,Axl Rose,Robert Plant,Prince,Elvis and more! He truly is the voice we’ve all longed to hear for some time. I look forward to hearing and seeing what he does. How cool was that…getting to perform with KISS and Queen? Kris, in my opinion was filler on the stage and is the guy we’ll forget. GO ADAM!!!

HollywoodRo | 5/21/2009, 7:13 pm EST

I forgot to mention…my parents are in their 70’s, and they only watched American Idol because of Adam – they were never interested in it before. They both said, “He has something special about him that you can’t put your finger on…his voice is unbelievable.” My boyfriends mom is in her 60’s and she too was blown away by Adam’s vocal ability. We actually saw him doing, “Wicked” at the Pantages in Hollywood back in October. My parents made fun of me for years wearing my large platform boots and shoes…now, they are open minded about it thanks to Adam. On another note, I think 17yr old Allison is pretty cool too. It’s been years that we’ve heard a cool, rocker, raspy voice out of a gal. I hope she makes it too!

BOB QUINN | 5/21/2009, 7:19 pm EST

ADAM WILL DO WHATEVER THE HELL HE WANTS TO DO AND IT WILL BE
“ALL GOOD”

Kinch | 5/21/2009, 7:19 pm EST

For those who keep saying that America voted for Kris, you seem to be confusing “America” with “American Idol viewers.” Most adults, and especially those who like rock, wouldn’t be caught dead watching Idol. The fact that Adam did not win Idol means absolutely nothing to those who count. It was an opportunity for him to showcase his talent and be “discovered” which he certainly has been. I wish Kris all the best because he seems like a really nice guy, but Adam is the one who will be a star.

KISS-d Queen | 5/21/2009, 7:28 pm EST

The thought of Queen, Zeppelin, GnR/VR, KISS, or Aerosmith collaborations and retro shows here and there would be cool, but Adam is too much a creative force to stay stuck in time, and will go forward sparkling of the greats that came before, to blend with something new and delicious.

Patrick you are wrong…this is a copy and paste from UPDATED Rolling Stone website…

UPDATE: Since this story’s publish, the charts have fluctuated significantly, putting Lambert in the lead in terms of songs in the Top 10.

A rep for 19 Entertainment has provided Rolling Stone with the latest iTunes stats, updated at 5 p.m. EST, which put Lambert in the lead with 11 singles in the Top 100 Songs chart while Allen has seven. Lambert also dominates Idol’s hold on iTunes’ music video charts with 13 of his performances on the list to Allen’s nine. However, Allen holds two of Idol’s four spots on the Top 10 Albums list with his iTunes season pass and his “Complete My Album Season Pass” while Lambert’s “Complete My Album Season Pass” and David Cook’s debut album hold the other two.

Raepat | 5/21/2009, 7:44 pm EST

stlouis1gal | 5/21/2009, 7:53 pm EST

First of all, love Adam!! On Tue, I spent from 9 – 1am trying to vote with a good cell phone, in fact 2 phones,we were only able to log 223 votes the entire time. Last week loged over 500 votes in 2 hrs. The lines were busy all the time, I tried all 3 lines at various times. So, I probably tried to vote at least 2500 times & logged only 223. I wonder how many others had the same problem???

43, never watched idol till RS mentioned Adam’s version of Whole Lotta Love. It was good. I watched the finale and was thrilled to see Kiss, Santana and Queen. I’d love to see someone good work with Slash–hm maybe Adam.

I cant believe it | 5/21/2009, 8:08 pm EST

Adam Lambert is the best singer ive ever heard. I nearly cried when i heard he didnt win. The only reason kris allen won was because it was just a big old popularity contest not a singing contest. My heart hurts for Adam,I feel like somebody ripped my heart out and stepped on it. If thats how i feel i cant even begin to imagine how he feels. Everyone knew that Adam was going to win,he was just a pure angel on stage. It comes so effortless to him and as the judges put it “You can hit notes i didnt even know existed and you hit them perfectly.” Adam was always Simons favourite from the beginning. Simon the “hard to please judge” gave Adam a standing ovation on his first time singing mad world. I laughed at how much better Adam’s preformance was with the famous band K.I.S.S than with kris’s preformance with someone i forget the name of. Adam had such style, his hair was the best hair ive ever seem. As one of the competitors on idol Allison put it “Adam’s hair rocks!” which is so very true! In conclusion Adam could do what ever he puts his mind to weather it be an amazing record or preforming on brodway he will be a million times better than kris and will go further in his career than Kris.

Cherie | 5/21/2009, 8:08 pm EST

I believe that Adam can do whatever he chooses and do it well. He said that he is a “great collaberator” when it comes to writing and performing so let’s give him the time to come up with that. His current obligations with the top 13 and touring come first I am afraid and then he will get into the studio and create! I am an AI fan but this is the first year I would LOVE to see the 13 live but only to see him-he is amazing!I wish him the best-and I would LOVE to be the first Adam lambert Fan Club president in LA!

The big wigs/wig–Rupert Murdoch?–behind American Idol can advertise all over the place, hynotize many people. When Kris Allen slid in Adam Lambert’s peanut butter vomit: the highlight of last night’s show.

pebbles | 5/21/2009, 8:43 pm EST

I’m already missing Adam’s live performances every week. Yeah, I voted for 4 hours… got thru a handful of times…constantly busy…the voting is rigged…the majority of votes for the other guy was coming from Tweens via thousands of text messages each. There are thousands of ’singers’ like Kris…nice guy, but nothing special….I see a very short term midely successful stint for Kris… really, how does 100s or 1000s of votes from one person translate into a long term career… it’s the # of unique votes and the fact that Adam attracted world-wide attention…Adam is a natural…he makes it look so easy and flawless.

Adam is such an amazing performer…just mesmerizing…not only his vocals are stellar, but it’s also the visuals of his performances…a picture is being painted everytime he performs.

Adam and his newly found fans are the true winners. Congrats, Adam… you are so multi-talented. I’m in need of a CD from Adam asap and a DVD of anything Adam.

P.S. All top 13 AI contestants are contractually obligated to 19E for 3 months after the finale. It’s up to 19E if they want to extend the contract. Until then, nobody can negotiate/talk with anybody else. Most likely 19E will sign Adam. Otherwise, others will be tripping over each other to get to Adam.

becky | 5/21/2009, 8:44 pm EST

Who Cares for his Dinner Theatre antics? He is a one trick pony.

canfan | 5/21/2009, 8:54 pm EST

Proteus…… BANG ON!!!! Adam….stay true to Adam, that’s why we love you!!!!

ManhattanSony | 5/21/2009, 8:56 pm EST

I believe Mr. Lambert will make out better not having this title on AI. Whatever he does he has tons of followers who will support him and will watch him tour. He left an impression on America and people will not forget that. Kris seems like a nice kid but vocally should not even have been in the bottom two. There has been a million artists like Kris, none like Adam. Good luck to both of them. I think personally Lambert is going outshine them all very, very soon.

eleven&adamfever | 5/21/2009, 9:02 pm EST

its true i have the adam-fever…. and i’m hardly 11. He is soooo hot, i’ve loved him since he first waled into that audition room. I cried when Ryan said “Kris Allen” i fell asleep that night with tears in my eyes listening 2 Tracks of My Tears next 2 my adam poster after crying for 2 hours straight. Wow this is pretty good if i showed this 2 my teacher i’d get an A+. In my book adam gets a A+++++++++++++++++++++++.
Me? I think he should 1st make an awesome and original album that i can buy with my brother’s itunes card and listen 2 repeatedly then become a vampire. As in join the twilight team 4 Eclipse. He’d b a perfect vampire. Then work on some more kick-butt albums and singles.
But anyways adam u can b sure that will b the very 1st 2 buy ur debut album!
I LUV U! i’ll b watching and waiting 2 hear from u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but don’t feel bad, if it means anything 2 u ur r this elementary students idol!
I LUV U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double OH Blonde | 5/21/2009, 9:04 pm EST

Don’t buy Adam’s tunes until they’re released by any option other than American Idol Inc…..

I’d love to see/hear Adam do a Queen show with Brian May, AND absolutely anything and everything else Adam ever does. Something original with Pete Townsend; with David Bowie, with Peter Gabriel, with Jimmy Page…

Please don’t lump into “hair” band-land. He belongs with only the legends…

D | 5/21/2009, 9:07 pm EST

There hasn’t been a musician like Lambert in 25 years! I am disappointed in AI and will probably not watch it in the future as it has now become a fake reality show. There is nothing Kris Allen can do that will be new, hot, exiting, etc. Same ol’ same ‘ol – different day. Whatever…..

Sharon in NY | 5/21/2009, 9:14 pm EST

One trick pony, are you nuts. I cant wait for Adam to release an album. He should have won AI by a land slide. There is NO ONE like Adam and I look forward to seeing what he does next.

kitty | 5/21/2009, 9:25 pm EST

Wont be watching AI any more! This has been totally unfair !!! What is wrong with the Americans???? (from Japan)

VistaLady | 5/21/2009, 9:30 pm EST

I didn’t know how much I liked Glam-rock until Adam came to AI. And his versions of so many music favorites was why I returned to watching AI after so many previously disappointing years. Adam brought the show to a whole new wonderful level, and by doing so he raised the bar of competition. AI can only hope that its future can continue to bring the level of creativity and courage that drew in the audience as Adam brought this season. I look forward to enjoying his work, and I’m grateful that his AI appearances brought Glam-rock to mainstream entertainment media.

Chrissy | 5/21/2009, 9:31 pm EST

The great thing about Adam is that he has ALL these options-he can do just about anything, except maybe country and Christian rock, haha. Seriously, his voice is fantastic!

Starfire | 5/21/2009, 9:33 pm EST

Adam is NOT a one-trick pony. He is better off not winning the title because he can now go forth and be Adam at his best. No rules to follow. He won’t have to be conservative and take orders on how to sing. He has an awesome talent and I can’t wait to see him shine!

I will be waiting impatiently for his first album. I can’t wait to hear what he comes out with. That’s one of the things I love about Adam. He is so versatile, you never know what he might perform. And the “dinner theatrics” also make him stand out as a unique performer worthy of my loyalty.

Kris is a talented artist as well and I am not upset that he won the title. It will keep him from going into obsurity too quickly and maybe he will actually deliver a great album. But Adam is in a different league. I don’t think we have to worry about Adam being influenced in any way to do something he doesn’t want to do. He is his own person and with his talent, he will go far no matter what he does after Idol.

Texas Mom for Adam | 5/21/2009, 9:35 pm EST

My family and I are missing seeing and hearing Adam sing. We can’t wait until his album comes out. We hope he gets a great contract.

Texas Mom for Adam | 5/21/2009, 9:37 pm EST

I agree with Starfire. I love that name, by the way. My whole family, ages 14-53, love Adam.

OwlProwl | 5/21/2009, 9:46 pm EST

America turned its back on a true star tonight. But in the hearts of those who recognize incredible talent, he lives on. Adam, the title should have been yours and everyone deep inside knows it. You are amazing and will go further than you can possibly imagine. America did not vote for the most talented tonight. America voted for the underdog, the uncomplicated guy in need of a boost. Keep being yourself kid. You are beautiful, unique and you have been given this special gift which is your voice. We, your fans, will be waiting anxiously for your recordings and most certainly your concerts! Your spirit shined this evening as it has from the first day your fans heard you sing your heart out. Adam Lambert, You are the true American Idol and even Kris Allen knows it and I for one appreciate his sincerity in acknowledging this. Your fans await the amazing career that you earned and deserve. THE REAL AMERICAN IDOL, ADAM LAMBERT!
PS My 8 year old daughter was watching AI last night in hopes of seeing the great finale with you singing as the star you are. When you name was:” Mommy, I don’t understand…..
Her name is Lorelei and yes, you have fans of all ages Adam. Good luck in your bright future. Love, from all of your fans.

Russ Martin | 5/21/2009, 10:07 pm EST

American Idol is the loser, not Adam. They must have cringed when Kris came in first. They had the big horse in the starting gate all ready to go. Now what do they have? A second rate singer without much of a future. Adam can make his own terms with any music producer in the world. Adam is the winner and is free to pursue anything without being tied to Idol. It was a blessing in disguise for Adam. He is now world famous.

Sober Blues | 5/21/2009, 10:14 pm EST

Adam Lambert + Rick Rubin = Multiplatinum, Grammy-winning success.

Get Brian May or Jimmy Page to do some guitar on a couple of tracks, and you’ll make the competition cry like a baby.

azauntie | 5/21/2009, 10:22 pm EST

I was very disappointed last night, but have to agree with Pebbles comment that 100s or 1000s of votes from one person will not translate into a long term career. I have never watched AI until this season after I stumbled upon Adam’s performance of Mad World when it carried over into the time slot for Fringe. I was hooked. With his amazing voice, his creativity and his dramatic flair, Adam has attracted fans from all walks of life and from all over the world. Adam’s songs were the first songs I ever purchased from I-Tunes, and I will continue to “vote for Adam” with my pocket book. I would love to see some summary of the purchases made of the various contenstants music. I am confident that Adam far outsold every other contestent.

I wish Adam all the best and cannot wait to see where Adam’s music and theatrical career will lead him next. Wherever it is, I will be there, ready to buy. He is an amazing talent.

I hope there’s nothing “next” for Adam Lambert. I’m sick and fed up with him. Enough already.

Blondie | 5/21/2009, 10:25 pm EST

Becky – What planet are you on seriously. If anyone is a one trick pony it’s Kris!! I like both of them, but Adam is much more talented than Kris and will last a lot longer in my opinion. I have not heard a voice like Adam’s ever I don’t think.

In a way I’m glad he didn’t win either as he can go and do his own thing now.

AdamFanNo.1 | 5/21/2009, 10:34 pm EST

What about singing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody or Michael Jackson’s Scream?

I love screaming Adam! He’s so funny to hear.

TheCoz | 5/21/2009, 10:34 pm EST

I’m calling it right now…Adam Lambert becomes the new lead singer of Velvet Revolver. Slash was a mentor this season and seemed to love Adam’s singing. Plus he can hit Axl’s high notes, so they could break out some G n’R songs during the set. It’s a win-win scenario for Adam and the band.

Elle | 5/21/2009, 10:37 pm EST

I’ve been Adam’s fan since Top 18.

While collecting Adam’s songs last night in my PC and played them loud….

I LOST INTEREST.

I STILL PREFER THE ORIGINAL QUEEN.

Sorry, Adam. There must be some limits to everything.

BernadineS-AussieFan | 5/21/2009, 10:40 pm EST

I’m no longer sad that Adam didn’t take out the number 1 spot, to me he is number 1. What an entertainer, what a singer, he can also dance and act. Now that is talent.
I also think he’d be fabulous in a TV show, but also he has such a fab way at presenting himself and is truly confident in front of a camera. Not to mention his wonderful speaking voice no doubt because of his theatrical experience. He could get any number of guest hosting spots for music industry nights.
Go Adam and bring on the CD’s real soon.

Chris | 5/21/2009, 10:56 pm EST

I would not worry too much, after all I heard that Kris Allen will be sent to Malaysia in 2010 to promote the next season of American Idol and Taylor “William Hung of American Idol” Hicks will no longer be sent to Malaysia, he will be sent to Fiji to promote American Idol… so I say everything works out well (Taylor Hicks was sent to Malaysia promote American Idol in 2008/2009). Singapore got the better Singer Fantasia Barrino, we got Taylor “William Hung” of American Idol” Hicks, but from news report we are getting Kris Allen next year, good news for us eh !

ALYESKA2 | 5/21/2009, 10:59 pm EST

A letter to Kris Allen:
Dear Kris, you are cute and sweet and can sing a tune or two pretty well but deep down inside your heart you know that you did not win or deserve the trophy or title. You even said yourself when it was announced that you had won, the first thing out of your mouth was that Adam was the one that deserved it. So, dear Kris go back and watch the video’s of Mad World, Born to be wild, Tracks of my Tears, If I Can’t Have you, (like I have done) and all the rest of Adam’s preformances and than try to tell me or the rest of the world that you are a better singer, preformer, have more talent or stage presence. It might not bother Adam much that he lost, he knows who he is and knows his limits, and you do not! It may not bother him but it hurt his fans deeply. When you are alone with your thoughts, in your heart, you KNOW you where not better than him and you did not beat him fair and square. How soon before you will be just a memory of an Idol upset… Kris Whatshisname? Long live Adam Lambert, his gift and his honor of being true to himself. Can you say the same? I think not, good luck, sleep tight!…and you call yourself his friend?

Bob | 5/21/2009, 11:12 pm EST

What is America thinking about?! You got this wrong big time. The real winner will be known when the CD’s sales are totalled. I am pretty sure Kris will be forgotten about by the weekend. I believe Kris will be the fastest forgotten about idol winner ever.

kevinV | 5/21/2009, 11:13 pm EST

ok umm why would you write a letter to kris if hes not even gonna read it?

ALYESKA2 | 5/21/2009, 11:15 pm EST

A letter to Adam:
Dear Adam, congratulations on dodging the bullet that could tie you down into the bog of A.I. Yes, it was great exposure for you and you had said that you wanted people to get to know you, well I think you have made quite a lasting impression so far, well done. Your talent and style go hand in hand with your humor, grace and demenor, always the gentleman on and off the stage.
You have learned a trick most artists forget about and that is the ability to walk on quicksand, upon that thin layer called Fame, tread light dear friend and avoid those that would profit by sucking you under. You need not walk in someone elses worn out shoes, walk tall in your own on the new path that you have carved for yourself these past few months. Your fans will support you, we all love you and bless you for the change that will curtainly come. Your are brilliant!

World Fan | 5/21/2009, 11:39 pm EST

The World is shouting out this NONSENSE RESULTS SHOW.    Too bad that Kris will now be known as the “the Guy Next Door that should not have won”!    What a pressure on Kris.   As for Adam :

1)   He need not have to record that awful song by Kara, which might affect his album sales.

2)  He is not tied down to a LONG contract and being so smart, he can manipulate his career better.   It might be a blessing in disguise too.

40% of votes came from his hometown. He wants to be Arkansas Idol?

JustAThought | 5/21/2009, 11:50 pm EST

I don’t understand why everyone has to be so hateful. Its one thing to be pissed off, its another thing to be disrespectful towards two artists who didn’t do anything but sing each week. Why must we tear someone down to make our personal favorite seem even better? And we can all have opinions, but can’t we all just be respectful and not so damn rude?

Lynn | 5/21/2009, 11:52 pm EST

It does not matter coming in first or second. This year, both cars are the same. Kris will fill churches and Adam will fill stadiums and CD shops. Why have a 2nd Jason Mraz?

Christina and Jason | 5/22/2009, 12:31 am EST

Well I got to say there are a lot of demented people on here leaving messages to Kris as if he stole the win from Adam. We the majority of the voters voted him to win, get that through your head! you’re a bunch of sore losers!

Shala | 5/22/2009, 12:39 am EST

I am so glad to see so many Adam fans have voiced their opinions here through the Rolling Stone. I googled Adam Lambert and it took me right to Rolling Stone. This is where all Adam’s true fans are and this is what really matters. Rolling Stone has been around for decades and featured some of the greatest music artists ever. This is definitely where we will see Adam on the front page and will read about his successes. He is the real deal and I agree with many others who say he is the modern day “Elvis” and the new “Rock God”. Can’t wait to see him rise to the top of music charts and look forward to buying his CD. We will see him in movies as well I’m sure. I have watched AI since the beginning and now believe it’s rigged. Let’s face it, Adam is the best they ever had on the show and he will surpass any idol winner they’ve ever had. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride. LOVE YA ADAM LAMBERT!!

bobby g ji | 5/22/2009, 12:54 am EST

I think Slash was auditioning Adam for a new sound for the record is is making and wouldn’t be surprised to see Adam on it, even Adam and Allison as well – I’d like that! Slash almost said as much in the interview. “I don’t usually do this but I heard some interesting voices this year.” Then he did it with his band on his turf!

iLly | 5/22/2009, 1:05 am EST

I want beer. Lambert is the new Kurt Cobain, the new Bono, the new talented, troubled guy, the new icon, the new sensation.

Abbie | 5/22/2009, 1:09 am EST

Adam….You are truly an amazing artist. I will be following your career and cannot wait to buy your CD…and see your face on the cover of this magazine!!!!! Congrats to Kris also……..

adam seems to have soo many fans but he didn’t get more votes than kris – i think it might be his fans were too busy gawking at his pictures and videos on the net that they forgot to vote for him? hahaha. or he has more fans outside america who can’t vote? or maybe kris’ fans are not just as vocal as adam’s. or maybe danny and allison’s fans were on kris side too. just wondering. anyway, i’m with adam no matter what! GO ADAM!!!

JJ | 5/22/2009, 1:29 am EST

I’m for Adam!!! Period.

You will have a Beginning of The NEW STAR who Just has been Discovered by the WORLD …. :-)
He will be The ARTIST to FOLLOW in the Years ahead ….. Go for it ADAM !!!! You have the STUFF it takes to be HUGE !!!!

maybe for a few months..he can front queen..he did a great job last night!! but not a permanent frontman!! it’s better he’ll do his his own records soon after..

bluebeard | 5/22/2009, 1:47 am EST

Now let me get this straight because someone has an awesome technical voice and is a master of stagecraft that means I have to like or enjoy his performance and vote for him…even if he sings and presents himself in a style I do not enjoy. So next year if a fantasticaly gifted classicaly trained opera singer with a mastery of stagecraft that could blow even Adam off stage appears on AI I can count on all you Adam fans to vote for them….even if you are not a fan of his operatic stylings and posturings. Ok..just want to make sure we are all on board with that.

HANZIUR | 5/22/2009, 2:11 am EST

Discrimination is still and always in America…(well, not all Americans).

HANZIUR | 5/22/2009, 2:27 am EST

To those Idiots who thinks that we liked ADAM because of his looks?

WE, THE WORLD, admire Adam because of HIS TALENT!!! The WORLD KNEW ADAM IS A GAY, THE WORLD searched and been searching about Adam’s photos kissing another man, and etc etc etc… Nothing CHANGED, We still love Adam and love him more, it’s because of WHO HE IS, the “once in a generation talented human being” who touched our hearts through his AMAZING voice that NOT ALL known artist can do… its “once in the blue moon” and Adam only did it.

Patrick | 5/22/2009, 2:44 am EST

I still say he is a shoe-in to play Jobriath in a film or musical.

oldbuthip | 5/22/2009, 2:47 am EST

Oooo Bluebeard, you can count on me!!! To vote for a classically trained opera singer that is. I adore Adam Lambert, but if I absolutely HAD to choose between him and listening to Inva Mulla performing Il Dolce Suono from Lucia Di Lamermoor (or even Diva Dance from The Fifth Element), I would go for the opera. If such an event were to EVER occur on Idol (as if), and the viewers didn’t immediately run for their remotes, I would be astonished, and THEY would gain an entirely new perspective on what a truly sublime artist sounds like.

Paula | 5/22/2009, 3:19 am EST

It certainly is a “Mad World” when tSeason 8’s ONLY diverse, exciting, multi-dimensional and exceptionally talented performer doesn’t win by a land-slide…But, that having been said, it is proabably better for Adam’s career that he came in second. No more AI for me (and many of us who had already written off the show until Adam came along) and, if we didn’t have itunes Adam withdrawal would be unbearable. Can’t wait for his first record….

cliff | 5/22/2009, 3:33 am EST

Everyone knows that Adam is going to have a huge future and AI helped him open a few more doors….So the votes went to the underdog because he is going to need even more support from AI to get a jump start of his career…without the win, Kris wouldnt have the legs to make a success of his singing career, he’ll get more vocal lessons and have a few more songs written for him to make an album and he might get to do a 2nd, but Adam is going all the way and everyone knows it, luckily he’ll be doing it without AI’s hands in his pockets

jada | 5/22/2009, 3:39 am EST

i am a grandmother, and loves the voice of adam lambert!!!!! grew up listening to ac/dc, guns/roses, queen, led zep, aerosmith, kiss, bon jovi, journey and now i am ready for adam lambert!!!!!!!!!

Fin83 | 5/22/2009, 4:51 am EST

There’s enough hate in the world. Most anyone (guys or girls) who appreciates Adam’s talent is simply focusing on that, which is the way it should be ..and is.
There is so much angry people who say that he screams and so on… Why these people write about him if they hate him so much???

Adam is amazing person and you gonna love or hate him, that`s the way it is… Most of the people comparing , that he`s new freddie or new “kiss” no he`s Adam Lambert!
I love theatrical Adam, I love all the high notes and so called pitchy…
And we live on year 2009 not 1970!
What he will do, we`ll see but i am sure that some day i will come to USA to Adam`s concert:) And i live in Finland!
And i really believe that he`s will be a star on the 20th century!
(sorry for my english)
GOOD LUCK ADAM!

OwlProwl | 5/22/2009, 6:46 am EST

In answer to the individual who asked if any Adam fans would vote for an Opera type style contestant next season just because of his stage presence: Yes, I would. I am a classical pianist and am a member of the Florida Opera. You bet I would vote for anyone with an amazing voice and stage presence! See you at the Opera and yes, see you at Adam’s first concert !!!!!
PS You don’t have to be attached to any particular style of music to appreciate true talent

Adamislikeomg | 5/22/2009, 6:49 am EST

Don’t feel too bad for Adam, I hear he is now going to be playing Liza Minelli’s role in the remake of Caberet. Likeomg

lisa | 5/22/2009, 7:02 am EST

wtf.can not believe it. adam should have won, hes the best american idol has EVER had, and i dont even like that style of music but his voice was captivating. whats wrong with america? im sorry but chris coulnt sing for shit

janeygotagun | 5/22/2009, 7:10 am EST

The perfect debut album for Adam is an album of collaborations with like minded artists, mostly in the rock genre but with a few ballads thrown in. Get him with Slash, Brian May, KISS, MCR and goddamn, get Smokey Robinson to write a new song for him. A duet with Beyonce would be killer. And, whoever suggested Rick Rubin as producer – yes! Fantastic idea!

dlt | 5/22/2009, 7:13 am EST

I heard Adam’s gonna do a show w/ Crosby, Stills, Nash. And Costello

Ray - South Africa | 5/22/2009, 7:24 am EST

Hi

I’ve been watching the show here in SA and think Adam was the best thing AI ever saw!!! I wish could’ve from South Africa as Adam is the true Idol.I am still getting over how Kris managed to win????? I can’t even remember anything he sang the whole season – he just doesn’t stand out. But either way Adam is going to be GREAT & a ROCK LEGEND!!!!!!

zeezuma | 5/22/2009, 8:22 am EST

“Establish himself as a current, relevant recording artist” ? What a way to start if Queen or Velvet Revolver come a callin’… Not a “bad” start for someone who was a nobody a few months ago…

Donne' (SouthAfrica) | 5/22/2009, 8:25 am EST

You hit the nail on the head Cliff – I had thought about that prior to the finale – Adam does not need the title of AI – he is a legendary superstar.
And OMG when he sang with Kiss – wow – Adam will be fabu-facking-tastic no matter what he does.
He is an ICON. He must just continue to be who we have grown to love and not conform to the stereotypical BS he would have had to perform like that ‘no boundries’ song…see, it’s better he did not win – he would not have been able to be his TRUE self. Adam Rocks!
I cannot wait for his CD to hit the shelves, and better still, his DVD!

ajc | 5/22/2009, 8:52 am EST

The highlight for me was how much fun both of them were having during the finale (Adam could barely sing through that grin, and I think he was the only thing at the end keeping Kris from passing out from shock) and how much they both clearly like each other. It’s just American Idol. They’re both gonna be fine, make albums, do whatever they do. I love Adam’s voice and will totally buy his album, and I’m going to miss his performances now the shows over, but Kris is so sweet; being bitter at him seems like trying to drown puppies.

magscredit | 5/22/2009, 9:02 am EST

Adam was the best of the show. It’s obvious. His career will continue while Kris, who seems like a nice kid will make a cd or 2 and probably be history on the Idol show.
This isn’t the first time the voting has gone Bizarro. Constantine was shafted, and Melinda Doolittle was heads and shoulders above anyone in her group.
What Idol will never admit is that of their 100 million votes, probably 70 million were made by 7 million 10-12 year old girls punching their new phones a hundred times for their cutie pie Kris.
If they want realistic results, they need to revamp the voting process.

Tasha | 5/22/2009, 9:06 am EST

Adam is my legend, I am a fan for life and will buy anything and everything that comes from him. He rocked my world during the past couple of months – and that’s while being sort of restricted …well because it is a “family oriented” show. I can’t wait for him to go at it full force. As to joining Qeen, my first thought was – wow! such a cool recognition of his talent; but on a second thought – he definitely should do his own thing. He is big enough .. no, he is HUGE to be a tremendous success of his own. Cannot wait for more from Adam. GO ADAM!!!!!!!

Vada | 5/22/2009, 9:15 am EST

I find it humorous, that Adam fans keep bashing Kris’ younger fans.

Sponsors want the young fans. That is why they line up to sponsor tours by Kelly Clarkson, Britney, or Miley.

Idol’s ratings among younger viewers were the worst ever. Maybe it is because those middle aged judges, love to beat down anyone who could actually sell to those younger fans.

Go to any Adam board, and it is dominated by middle aged to senior citizen women.

That is not likely to make McDonald drool on their Big Macs.

YC (Australia) | 5/22/2009, 9:25 am EST

Quite frankly, I think the panel picked the winner right from the beginning – Kris -Looks O.K., sings like all the previous winners, will appeal to the teens, nice clean cut image…..but along came ADAM. Adam who was just so superior in every thing he did. His vocals were amazing, his performances were amazing and his looks…well just absolutely gorgeous! Well, what were they going to do now! He’s too good but doesn’t fit into the AI mould. Note they pushed him into the ‘rocker’ mould and yes he sure could rock but Adam can sing any genre and make it better than the original. Well guess what….Rockers don’t win American Idol. Look at Bo Bice. He was the best during that season but didn’t win. I never watched AI again until my son suggested I watch it after he saw Adam and then I was also hooked on Adam. Adam appeals to all generations and especially my generation (Baby Boomer.) The pop music of today does not appeal to us. It’s boring, it’s sounds all the same, the singers sound all the same. I don’t buy their Cd’s. At last there is someone who can change all this – ADAM LAMBERT. The ‘grannies’ have Andre Rieu and at last we have ADAM.

Adam definitely deserved to have the title of American Idol and I don’t know how the panel can live with themselves as they know he was the best. They said it so many times.

I don’t care what Adam sings in the future as I know I will love it. It would be great if he could make a CD of all the songs he sang on AI to begin with. And finally, please, please come to Australia so that my 18 yr old son and I can see you in a live concert. Love you Adam.

I am 44 and I’ve been waiting for a singer/entertainer like this for a long time. How refreshing to have pure talent and not some fabricated bubble-gum popping tart.

I can’t wait to see Adam on the cover of Rolling Stone. After all, you haven’t really made it until you have the cover under your belt. Let’s hurry up and get him on the cover…it will sell zillions of magazines!

Rock in a sock | 5/22/2009, 10:24 am EST

I am 98 years old and a great grandmother. I have been waiting my whole life for a man who gives me the tingles the way Bascom Lamar Lunsford did oh so long ago. Adam gets me moist as freshly backed pound cake. I would gum him.

Annie | 5/22/2009, 10:25 am EST

Adam is now a World’s Idol according to all the international blogs I see out there. What bothered me most is the media touting Kris Allen as the “underdog” where really it was Adam and I think Simon realized this. Adam had huge obstacles to overcome the whole season, from homophobia to the hyping from the judges and he powered through to the finals just on sheer, blazing talent, a degree of class in his demeanor and a maturity in handling the media that impressed me no end. I really think Simon and AI did not know how to handle a massive talent like Adam’s on this show. He was so far above the other contestants and had never dealt with someone so poised for International Mega stardom and they made mistakes. However, Adam certainly isn’t looking back and neither should we his fans. What we can do is support him and the best way is to download his ITunes and purchase his music, attend his concerts. We need to put our money where our mouths are and show the world we are not that dumb. I know I have and I listen to and watch this wonderful talent all the time. I think Kris is a great guy and singer but this was the Adam Lambert season and everyone knows it.

Roger Kolbu, Norway | 5/22/2009, 10:28 am EST

When Danny went out as #3, it was quite obvious that Kris would get most of “his” votes, as his music style is far more similar to Danny’s than Adam’s is.

That said, I (unusually enough) liked Adam and Kris almost equally – they are both superb artists! But Adam I’m sure we will see and hear a lot from in the time to come!

Vada | 5/22/2009, 10:30 am EST

Queen and Velvet Revolver are current? Obviously that is someone who hasn’t heard any rock in a while.

Queen was 20 to 30 years ago, and Velvet Revolver’s last (in more ways than one)bombed, tanked, crashed and burned.

Dunsa | 5/22/2009, 10:34 am EST

Listen up you people who are compelled to write nothing but negative comments on ADAM!

If you go to the American Idol website you will see that ADAM has fans all over the “entire world”! People from all 7 continents adore ADAM!! So, ask yourselves, doesn’t that say something??? Are you saying the entire world is deaf?

ADAM is soaring higher and higher each day to super stardom and he is going to be simply put by Pauls “Iconic”. Those who love ADAM will be helping him fulfil his dreams every step of the way!!!

Unfortunately, Adam did not win the Idol crown but his immense talent has won the hearts of millions on this planet!! It’s this special place in hearts that will make ADAM go a very, very, long way!

If you don’t appreciate ADAM’s uniqueness just back off!

Signed on behalf of all those who are GLAMBERTS!!!

Smitt E Smitty | 5/22/2009, 10:42 am EST

Man, I would love it if Adam did a full-out glam rock record like Bowie or Eno did in the 70’s.
He would own the air/satellite waves. The time has come.

Starrlight | 5/22/2009, 10:57 am EST

Whatever he does, I’m buying it =)

Amanda | 5/22/2009, 11:03 am EST

I would LOVE it if he did glam rock, please no GaGa Adam. I think he could do his own album and at the same time maybe to a couple of shows w/ Queen – that would be awesome. He doesn’t have to be their lead singer forever, just for a few times and kind of get his name out there in the world.

But Adam, please do glam rock or Rock and dress exactly as crazy cool as you want! I will come to your concerts and I will buy your music!

babo | 5/22/2009, 11:04 am EST

Adam, of course, was the strongest contestant. He owned each song he sang and made you feel it. Kris has a nice voice, but I felt he was just singing.
As far as the voting goes, Christian, anti-gay bias?

Ma Berry | 5/22/2009, 11:10 am EST

I listened to Adam’s post finale interviews and there is one thing we should all listen to. Adam and Kris respect each others music and both found common ground to support each other through out this whole competition. We have to respect Adam – he wants us to be open to all types of music and let’s drop the disrespect and hate on both sides. That is the best way to support Adam. Also if we didn’t have American Idol who knows when Adam might have been discovered? Adam was outstanding and I will support him all the way. He should do his own thing and create new music and stretch our experience. He is absolutely a STAR and he has and will add great things to our music world.

Dee Dee | 5/22/2009, 11:14 am EST

I think it is so sad that Adam didn’t win the title, but as they say maybe he will be way better off. I absolutely love his singing. Never in my mind has there been someone that had the whole package: fabulous singer, charisma, charm, gorgeous, sex-appeal, presence on stage, etc. and most gorgeous deep eyes, and pure electricity as what the king ‘ELVIS’ must have stirred up in people. I know he will do something great I hope, I will definately be buying it!! I am a rock lover, and I hope he goes that way. Congrats Adam!!!

dpropst | 5/22/2009, 11:30 am EST

lets Draft Adam for Queen

DIANE IN CANADA | 5/22/2009, 11:37 am EST

I was devastated when Adam Lambert didn’t win the American Idol. Trust me, I will not be watching any future shows!!!

Adam is a rare, talented artist and I hope he produces a great record. Adam is multi-talented and can sing any kind of music and not just rock or opera.

I think he lost due to the Christian’s banning together probably at the instigation of Allen’s church – no doubt they sent emails to various congregations.

Allen seems like a nice guy but definitely, definitely is not as talented as Adam Lambert!!!

MM | 5/22/2009, 11:53 am EST

As a buyer in the music industry for years, I have met my share of new (and established) artists and have been to more concerts than I can remember. Adam Lambert is the reason I turned on the TV at all this season. Adam is a class all by himself and in my opinion untouchable. Adam, thank you for lighting up my life!

NJ Tunesmith | 5/22/2009, 11:58 am EST

I see him doing Vegas for decades.
As for Christian anti-gay bias, I never heard a peep about Kris being Christian & I don’t think anybody gives a damn whether Adam’s gay or not. I think Adam is a great performer, Kris a fine musician, who in the final weeks showed his potential to grow into making music into his 80s & that’s what won people over. And finally: Go, Allison!

Anne Marie | 5/22/2009, 12:08 pm EST

Can you say VEGAS boys and girls?
Adam has Vegas written all over him, even at this stage. He is the star that comes along once in 50 years—Elvis being the last.
GO ADAM!!!!!!!

Will buy anything he does | 5/22/2009, 12:10 pm EST

I’m a 54 year old grandmother and loved every one of Adam’s performances. I will buy and/or go see anything that he does and wish him a wonderful future in the world of music….

Artemesiablack | 5/22/2009, 12:28 pm EST

Adam is brilliant as a performer, he has so much charisma and Idol needs to understand there there were a whole buncha Adam fans who didnt vote… he WILL sell out shows, he could pretty much do anything he wants and all the cool kids will go see him perform… dont think he should lock himself into an already established band who’s lost their singer… i think he should do his own thing… he’s got the ideas, he’s got the enthusiasm… he can defer to fronting queen later if it doesnt work out for him… but I love that whole glam rock sex god thing… about time there was glamour back with boys! really tired of the bearded singer songwriter tortured artist thing… we need sex and glam!!!!!

Yani | 5/22/2009, 12:32 pm EST

He said himself his album would be like his performances, a mixture of sorts, which is why he drew such a wide spectrum of audiences. He should have a few collaborations with big names, like PINK did with Steven Tylor for “MISERY”, but not be a frontman for an already established group like Queen and run the risk of being pegged as a wannabe. Mind you, a quick world tour “Adam Lambert with Queen” would be great to showcase him to those who haven’t heard him yet.

Whatever | 5/22/2009, 12:43 pm EST

Come on losers, stop with the Christian, Anti-Gay crap. How many gay artists are hugely popular and sell tons of records and EVERYONE knows they’re gay. Just stop it. It just sounds like sour grapes that your guy didn’t win.

American Idol is a POPULARITY contest. Will people buy their music or not? The voting on the show isn’t any different than what consumers will do when they hit i-tunes or their local stores.

Adam Lambert is a hell of a singer and if he didn’t win on Idol it’s because more people liked Kris Allen. Stop with the conspiracy crap. Show your support of the guy, gay or not, by buying his music once it’s available and quit bitching that not enough of his “fans” voted for him.

wisewoman | 5/22/2009, 12:45 pm EST

I’m with Rob on the glam rock idea. Let Adam bring his own brand of glam rock into this century.

moe | 5/22/2009, 12:53 pm EST

this season’s shocker has confirmed that talent is not the deciding factor. never, in my opinion, has there been such an overwhelming difference in the finalists’s ability. adam lambert was unquestionably the most talented and was the most deserving of the AI award. perhaps the judges should be responsible for choosing the Idol winner.

Lila | 5/22/2009, 1:00 pm EST

Adam the glam rock is the way. He wants to push buttons and get people thinking. I know he can do that, look he did that in AI. Cant wait to see u in concert.

Let's Vote! | 5/22/2009, 1:01 pm EST

The judges on AI try to influence the vote every time someone performs by critiquing them; some positive and some not. If the judges chose the winner it wouldn’t really be American Idol then would it?

Diane | 5/22/2009, 1:05 pm EST

Adam was the clear winner of American Idol. The fact that he didn’t win the title means little. Kris has the title but Adam is the star. I like Kris. He appears to be a really nice guy but he simply does not have the presence that Adam has in an abundance.

Purple | 5/22/2009, 1:05 pm EST

Luv him, he knows exactly what to do. I think he is happy not winning as now he can do what he wants. If you listen to the studio versions of all his performances they toned it down so much that it was just not our glam hot rocker!

Yaseen adams
 S. A | 5/22/2009, 1:12 pm EST

Adam rocks,
Kriss needs 2 smoke rocks bcz he wont make it as…. big as adam!!

So Important | 5/22/2009, 1:13 pm EST

What comes next in the careers of both of the finalists will be critical. If they hook up with producers of the style of crap that they were forced to sing for their finale, they are doomed. As the judges pointed out on every show, song choice is so important and if that last song was all they had to showcase themselves they’d be thrown out like yesterday’s newspaper.

Adam needs a good rock producer, glam or not, and go with it. He’s a great singer with a lot of positive PR and if he even releases a marginal record, it’ll sell well.

Come ON! | 5/22/2009, 1:29 pm EST

Come on losers, stop with the Christian, Anti-Gay crap. How many gay artists are hugely popular and sell tons of records and EVERYONE knows they’re gay. Just stop it. It just sounds like sour grapes that your guy didn’t win.

Roxan | 5/22/2009, 1:32 pm EST

Adam is like cream, it will always rise to the top. It is a shame he didn’t win since he is far better than any other person on IA since it began. I can’t wait till his first CD comes out.
Good luck Adam.

KISS ME | 5/22/2009, 1:35 pm EST

I thought it was cool that Adam sang with some old rockers like KISS. That kind of music suits him perfectly and would sell instantly. There are tons of music fans dying to get away from the hip-hop and rap crap dominating the music scene today. Rock out Adam!

Alizal | 5/22/2009, 1:40 pm EST

Whatever Adam decides to do . i dont care cause i will buy anything … I am Kinda glad he didnt win because now he can do his own thing and doesnt have to be with AI for a whole year and do whatever they say .. and i bet he is happy 2 ! :)

Adam Lambert is the american idol in my eyes ! (From Malaysia)

The Bunny | 5/22/2009, 2:49 pm EST

Simon Cowell said ” we are looking for an Internatonal superstar–and I think we have found it!!” He was talking to Adam Lambert. Adam is the most talented versatile totally gifted performer the likes of Idol has never seen before and probably won’t again. ADAM LAMBERT CAN SING WITH QUEEN OR KISS OR??BUT HE WILL ALSO SING WITH CELINE AND BOCCELI–now thats what i can talanted and that is what I call a STAR… Kris is a sweet guy nad musiclly talented…Vocally there is absolutely NO CONTEST. i HOEP aDAM DOESN’T EBCOME A FRONT MAN FRO SOME BAND (NOT EVEN qUEEN)..

The Bunny | 5/22/2009, 2:55 pm EST

I hope Adam doesn’t become a front man for any group–even Queen although a guest shot would be fun…I would tell Adam to pursue a SOLO CAREER…Adam the world is your Oyster and we are waiting impatiently for you to SOAR…
Absoutely Love him

Grannies Love Adam | 5/22/2009, 4:03 pm EST

Hey, I’m a Granny and I would definitely buy Adam, and have downloaded every song! Not enjoyed a performer this much since Elvis and Mick Jagger! Adam shows younger people how great the original rock and roll was and because of it he will be a superstar!

AdamLambertWindy | 5/22/2009, 4:08 pm EST

The Bunny,

I agree with you hun, really he able to make a solow Career and he will be…He’s so genious and he have so huge amazing, powerfull, sotfy and Tender voice…so he have all the talent he need and we love himmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. lolll

AdamLambertWindy | 5/22/2009, 4:16 pm EST

If Adam makes what he really wants and he tell to all medias, he want to make his first record like he make his own songs each weeks in American Idol, so he tell, a couple Rock songs, a couple Pop songs, a couple Disco Songs and he really want mix his first Album same he change each weeks in American Idol, so its a good Idea because he makes all the songs for all the persons likes , for the fan’s peoples who likes Rock songs, for all the fan’s who loves more Pop songs, and for all the peoples who like all his déferents songs by him…So for his first CD I think it will be a formula winners choice…he tells , never make that so why not? So I think its intelligency are for looking all the Fan’S peoples who love that. Im the one who I will intersted by his ideas, because he cant sing anything he wants, and it will be great …

ELAINE | 5/22/2009, 4:31 pm EST

I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I HAVE WATCHED HIM FROM THE START AND I AM A GRAMMA BUT I WAS AN OPERA SINGER AND MY GIRLFRIEND WAS ON BROADWAY THIS YOUNG MAN IS A GREAT——–TALENT ! WHAT A VOICE FANTASTIC. SO I’M NOT EVEN FEELING BAD ( ALTHOUGH I WAS UPSET BECAUSE MEDIOCRITY WON TALENT LOST.) HE WILL GO FAR ANYWAY. AND I FOR ONE WANT TO BUY HIS C D WHEN IT COMES OUT . GO ADAM ! YOUR GREAT

thelambertcougar | 5/22/2009, 4:40 pm EST

All the testimonies here speak for themselves. This young man has tore the top off of the music industry, not just in the USA, but around the world. Who was the last person that YOU can think of that had such an impact on entertainment??? Elvis, of course. We have an ICON on our hands and he is in control of his OWN destiny. He is going to leave his mark on the music business like nobody else in decades. I am so thrilled that we get to be a part of this, even if it is just to see him grow into an idol of all people. EVERYBODY wants to touch this golden boy. Take that last statement any way you want to…lol….from the cougar

GM | 5/22/2009, 4:52 pm EST

WELL……….IT DOESN’T REALLY MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN ADAM’S CAREER IF HE WON OR NOT – HE’S ALREADY THERE!!

KC | 5/22/2009, 6:15 pm EST

I don’t care what he does as long as he does it soon!! I miss him already!!!

claire | 5/22/2009, 6:51 pm EST

I love Adam! As I think about it, Adam not winning is going to be in his favour. I think because of the shock of his not winning, this will even make him more interesting to watch, if that is even possible. Someone mentioned “mediocre” talent re: Chris – absolutely…a dime a dozen. I feel sorry for Chris…he now has to try to outshine Adam as this years Idol…he’ll never be able to do it…and his career will be short lived. America, wise up…grow up!! The one who deserved it didn’t get it, but life isn’t fair. Yea Adam!!! TALENT TO THE END!!!

RocknGrrrl | 5/22/2009, 7:16 pm EST

As a lifelong rock fan, I’m truly hoping that he will put out a hard rocking CD his first time because, lets face it, the world needs a new Rock God again, its been too long!

I always refused to watch American Idol before, until Adam grabbed me by the heart and pulled me in from the Final 13 on! I still well up with tears whenever I hear him singing Mad World. Now that I’ve recovered from the shock of having my worst fears confirmed when Adam came in second (and believe me it was a serious 2 day depression!), I’m glad he didn’t win and be stuck with that horrid Idol winner’s song. At least he’ll have a little more freedom to just be Adam. This man has been given talent from the Heavens that is so rare. Whatever Adam does in the future will be greeted with open arms and he will be a MEGASTAR.

I downloaded the compillation of Adam’s Idol performances from Itunes and his studio versions of his performances are even better than the original performances and I’ve been playing them constantly. His version of Ring of Fire didn’t go over as well as some of his other performances, but hearing the studio version wow! He is a genius – its remarkable and I’m sure Johnny Cash is looking down from heaven with a huge smile on his face.

Please, no Lady GooGoo or Gaa Gaa whatever her name is stuff, ugh! Adam is so much better than that!Leave the new singer of a reunion band to that sissy of a winner Kris Allen cuz in a year no one will remember him otherwise!

Rock on Adam!!!

adam | 5/22/2009, 8:37 pm EST

you people! kis was a better artist and he’ll sell more albums. that’s what the votes are for! if adam can sell 30 million albu,s, kris has sold 70 million.

Soliloquy | 5/22/2009, 9:51 pm EST

I am 15 am so excited that Adam wants to go into the music making buisness(see he has young fans too!). Even though I voted and supported him the entire season, I now think that it’s a good thing he diddnt win. He was WAY too good for that show, and who would want to be stuck singing the “No Boundries” fiasco for an entire year…bleh! Adam rocked the show and got the noteriety he needed to become huge. As other people have said AI season 8 was the “Adam Lambert” season, and he will continue to be great. Have you all noticed that whenever they post a commercial for the Idol tour it always has Kris AND Adam? That says something people! Kris is a nice guy, but he’s a dime a dosen and is very lucky that he won because if not, he would of faded into the darkness. In the future, while Adam is rocking America and the world, Kris will slowly fade into the background. In fact, I give Kris 8 months, if that. Adam won the hearts of so many Americans. So who cares if he’s gay or not a big christian? Let him go out there and change america’s music for the better. GO ADAM GO!

Randi | 5/22/2009, 10:02 pm EST

My heart broke in a million pieces when adam didnt win. It’s not the trophy, it’s not the title..it’s that he deserved to be king in that moment..if talent is the determinant, that is

he morphed ring of fire and mad world into gold. That’s the thing about adam..whatever he touches he turns into an amazing piece of art..that’s the point..that’s why the guy should have won..i’ll be first on line to buy whatever you put out there buddy..

YC (Australia) | 5/22/2009, 11:02 pm EST

Well, another day has passed and I am still upset & angry that Adam did not win the title that he so
deserved. You would think that
talent would win over prejudice but apparently not in America. Not only do I admire Adam for his immense talents but I also admire him for his graciousness and staying true to himself. You can see that he has such good values and that he is a very caring person. He holds himself with great dignity. He is ambitious & innovative. He treats people with respect & kindness. He is a great ‘role model’ for my eighteen year old son.

I will miss seeing Adam as he was the highlight of my week. Please ADAM release a CD/DVD – A.S.A.P

MommyOf2 | 5/22/2009, 11:03 pm EST

I’m going to buy Adam’s cd when it comes out. Adam’s voice is amazing. He should have won. I agree with u randi.

gwebb | 5/22/2009, 11:04 pm EST

Adam’s studio version of no boundaries is by far better then Kris’ version!

D | 5/22/2009, 11:45 pm EST

Kris has talent at singing perfectly in tune and whatnot, but his voice is not at all distinctive. Adam sings with way more emotion, and stands out from other singers on the scene. As for singing with Velvet Revolver, I think he could do well with them, but not as well as a heavier rock singer, he’s too glam for VR.

Brenda | 5/22/2009, 11:49 pm EST

Adam is A REBEL…. a person who resists authority, control, or convention.
rebellious, defiant, disobedient, insubordinate, subversive, resistant, recalcitrant; nonconformist, maverick, iconoclastic; archaic contumacious. antonym compliant, conformist.
THIS is why we love Adam…Always be different Adam
As or Kris Whathisname the last two words are who you are (compliant, conformist) Fox loves those who will NOT rock the boat.
Can’t wait to see you in oncert and please sing “UNDER PRESURE”

D | 5/22/2009, 11:49 pm EST

Actually I just realized a flaw with American Idol. With all the ppl voting without any musical background, it’s bound to produce not the best singer, but the most commercial singer. That’s why Adam lost.

I’m a 54-year-old female from Canada. I looked forward each week to seeing/hearing what Adam would do. For me, he made the show and took us from the every day humdrum of hearing artists in their comfort zone to a feast for our eyes and ears. I love the glam rock era, and I also love contemporary rock. I’m not some “old lady” stuck in the past. It is the past that has brought us to where we are musically today and I’m glad I was around to experience some of those great artists. I like everything from Queen and Bowie to Green Day, Metallica, etc.
Adam was a breath of fresh air to American Idol and I can hardly wait to hear his album. Like Adam said, he’s going to mix it up..I like that idea. I don’t always want to listen to the same type of music. I appreciate good vocals and artistry and when I go to see a performer I want to have a visual experience as well as an audio experience. With Adam we will get that..his charisma and magnetism is compelling. He is such a polite person too, very likeable. He often made sure the band and backup singers got recognition after his performances. I couldn’t care less if he is gay or bi…it makes absolutely no difference to his talent and besides..that is a very personal thing..it’s nobody’s business. In fact, I think the “mystery” around him makes him that much more intriguing. I was so proud to see him sing with Kiss and Queen. He deserved every second of it.
I have seen many of his photos and video performances from his previous shows…and what people have to remember is that Adam is a performer, an entertainer, and the costumes, makeup, mascara and glam is part of his artistry. He is the total package.
I saw the look on his face when both he and Kris were waiting on the results in the finale, and I think Adam wanted to win, he said in an interview that he wanted to win so that he could be an example, but in hindsight, I think both Adam and his fans know that Adam didn’t need that AI title to declare him a winner…he had already won over many many fans by that point and now he has more freedom.
I am driving 7 hours each way to see Adam in cocnert in Canada and he will be worth every penny that it costs me, and every mile that I drive, to see him. I can hardly wait for Adam to do his own concert/show. It will likley be in the U.S. and yes..I’ll drive there too. I hope he glams it up..changes it up..just like on AI. Give us a little bit of everything Adam, and “A Whole Lotta Love” because your fans love you.
Did I mention I’m an Adam Lambert fan?

Missy | 5/23/2009, 12:05 am EST

Sorry for the typo..I meant to write “I am driving 7 hours each way to see Adam in concert”.

Hansz | 5/23/2009, 4:44 am EST

He can do it with any style or genre, or even better he can combine everything together in his album. HE IS STILL THE BEST NO MATTER WHAT

mtgkid_4laplace | 5/23/2009, 5:24 am EST

ADAM 4EVER AND EVER! I watched all 8 seasons of AI and this is the worst final performance. When Adam sang “No Boundaries”, it was way x 10 better than Kris. Kris’s version is not fit for singing the winning song. It should have been Adam who sang it. WHAT’S WRONG WITH AMERICA?

Happyface | 5/23/2009, 7:53 am EST

I was thrilled when they didn’t call Adam’s name as the 2009 winner of AI and I’ll tell you why… Everyone new he was the winner from the gate there was simply no competitiion for him, he was the most talented, picked up the most fans even Simon knew it from the onset and had no problem letting us know, but just think about it, if he would have won he would have been tied to that same two year contact that the winner gets locked into and we and the world would have had to wait just that much longer to get our hands on his cd, this way he’s a free agent and can own the rights to his own music and go into the industry wherever he chooses, and quite frankly I would have rather seen the guy whose wife died(R.I.P.) who wears the glases win he’s much more talented then the one that was given the win… The title og (Rock God) that was given to him is certainly befitten… He’s is the next generation rebirth of Elvis, long live the King!!

OldChick | 5/23/2009, 9:40 am EST

I bought an ipod and started an itunes account just to buy all of Adam’s songs from American Idol. Can’t stop listening, can’t wait to see what he does next.

ex1 | 5/23/2009, 11:16 am EST

Adam Fans ….. I have read a lot of News about Adam since his Loss at A I ….. and guess what.
He is very Happy and has gotten exactly what he was hoping for. Recognition and the Launching of his Music Career. Yes he is much better off being the Runner Up because he now can do exactly what he wants. Adam has some Fresh Idea’s on his mind and I believe we will all be Blown Away by what he comes up with. Yes…. I now think it is a Blessing Adam came in second. We will hear what this Guy really wants us to hear :-) PS
Been Playing Adams Album everyday in My Truck for days and I just do not get tired of listening to this Guy Sing. Also picked up the Bonus Track I found on iTunes called ……….
” ARE YOU LISTENING ” from The Ten Commandments Show he was in as Joshua.
Incredible Song and yep ….. It’s our Adam :-)

Miguel Mazzetti | 5/23/2009, 11:23 am EST

Welcome to the show Adam…

Melybolar | 5/23/2009, 11:43 am EST

ADAM LAMBERT ROCKS…HE’S THE BEST

JT Rock Fan | 5/23/2009, 4:28 pm EST

An Idol should not only be good in singing but inspiring in life…Kris may be a good singer but wheather he wins or not ADAM IS A WORLD IDOL, he inspires people to change, to live and enjoy life, he makes those who watch him happy…if that is NOT IDOL I DON’T WHAT IS…
ADAM, I LOVE YOU ALWAYS!!!!
I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU PERFORM LIVE IN DALLAS.

sioux | 5/23/2009, 6:42 pm EST

At first I was devastated – but then realized that Adam is now FREE. He just has to do the stupid summer tour and that’s it. He will not be locked in by AI’s stupid contract and he will fly. Can’t wait to see what he does. He is smart and savvy enough (it seems) to make the right choices. We just get to wait and watch. Maybe this was meant to be. He didn’t seem too upset.

EKE | 5/23/2009, 8:13 pm EST

I would LOVE to see a glam rock genre album. I agree with critique that a glam rock/dance album would fill a void in the American music world that it is time for and based on the response Adam has received I think it is something that would be well received both from the market and the critics. Find a smart, fresh producer, collaborate with quality writers, and most important bring back the great arena shows we haven’t had in forever. After all that cash the checks and keep being a good guy.

Nookers | 5/23/2009, 9:56 pm EST

Funny how many old fans Adam has. Probably due to the fact that our generation hails from a time when Rock was everything. If Adam glams if up that’s kewl, if he classics up, kewl, and if he re-invents kewler still. I think he can do anything and everything and posses the ability to be one of the greatest rockstars of all time.
Take front as a replacement to Freddie Mercury? Nah, why be a replacement for a great musician when you can create your own fame of equal note?
As for winning AI, being 7th and 8th didn’t hurt either Kelly Pickler or Bucky Covington both of them with sophomore albums. That too was a good season for AI, but this last season was the best ever. There’s quite a few that I will buy music from. Winning Idol is not always the kiss of death either as it was for Clay and Taylor. Carrie (Entertainer of the year winner) and Kelly have taken it to the heights.
Faith Hill’s thoughts that idol contestants haven’t paid enough dues is being proven faulty as you can see by the stagework and club appearances and previous music albums these contestants have put in prior to competing on AI.
I can’t wait to see what Adam does and Kris and the others as well. It’s all about the music!!

Granule | 5/24/2009, 12:47 am EST

Wow! How wonderful now that Cher is getting into Vegas again, she has this great Cher imitator on TV to boost her ticket sales. Adam is a great Cher, as a singer on his own not so good. BTW How about the guy who could sing and who won?

Museme | 5/24/2009, 11:55 am EST

Although my lifestyle is similar to Kris’s………..the passionate ride that Adams creativity and voice took us on, was sheer magic. I was devistated when he did not win……..but in the end it might be the best thing for Adam. I, for one, hope that his album crosses the genres to embrace his musical versatility and he, in doing that, create his own path. He needn’t be caught like the others; repeating the same style/music/sound over and over for years ……….because that just shows the usual musician’s complete lack of imagination…… and a fear of risk…….. We loved him for his genius…….and that is what will sell………… Adam you are too good for Queen!

janet | 5/24/2009, 12:54 pm EST

Adam has raised the bar so high and it will be many seasons down the line before someone with that “perfection” emerges – hopefully the show will sustain & not impact the viewership….

Baggem | 5/24/2009, 1:48 pm EST

I’ll be short and sweet.
LOVE. HIM.

ex1 | 5/24/2009, 6:37 pm EST

Been Playing all of Adams songs I downloaded from iTunes and I must say I can’t hear them enough ….. Now that we won’t see him anymore on A I …. this is the next best thing until his First Album is Released It has been a real long time since an Artist has gotten me this excited to listen…. Like Randy Jackson said …. Adam ” Could sing the Phone Book and it would sound Great! “

LeChatz8 | 5/24/2009, 9:36 pm EST

I am from the Philippines and i been a fan of Adam Lambert. I was so hreartbroken, sad and in silent anguish when he lost to Kris Allen. I cant accept the fact that adam would lost to an ordinary singer like Kris Allen.

Nevertheless, i will still support my Idol. He made me so happy here everytime i see him perform in that stage. I also downloaded all his videos at You Tube in my personal website where i can watch them always.

From our country, i wish to say this to Adam Lambert. ” You are not just an American Idol but an International Idol.” God bless you my friend.

Japanka- Iloilo City, Philippines.

LeChatz8 | 5/24/2009, 9:42 pm EST

I cant wait to see Adam Lambert record his own album and definitely, i will buy copies of his CD.
I am now hooked to Adam Lambert, same thing i was a great fan of Westlife, Blue, Boyzone and other british boy bands.

And with his great vocal skill, I guess Adam can out sing Duncan James of Blue…. He has a fantastic vocal range too. I wish Adam Lambert will record one of Blue’s hit song ” Breathe Easy” and that would be fun listening to his own version.

Tom | 5/25/2009, 12:04 am EST

I’m going to an American Idol concert for the first time for one reason and that is to see Adam Lambert. Not sure how I’m going to sit through the rest of them but I keep telling myself it’s worth it to see this dude perform live.

Kimberly | 5/25/2009, 12:07 am EST

Adam is the new Elvis and like Elvis, he will do it all. I expect him to be a great recording artist, amazing live performer selling out stadiums around the world and an actor performing either on Broadway or in movies. Adam Lambert is the next ICON…He is this generation’s Elvis.

ex1 | 5/25/2009, 12:19 am EST

To….. ADAM LAMBERT
I am sure you know you have a Gift and can sing anything …. All Genres …. Right ? …. Now if you really want to do something that has not been done before ….. How about doing just that. Do an Album at a time of ALL GENRES in the many years you have to complete this task. But do it your way ………. I believe you will sell more Albums than Any Artist Ever…… :-) The real Cool thing will be the Role Playing. If you work the different genre you will be able to Play the Part also …. Does not sound boring to me :-)
Hmmmmm Yes I believe we will be seeing you in Movies as well :-) Go for it Adam and don’t ever stop …… Just a thought from a 62 year old Artist / Musician who believes you have something more to offer than most of what I’ve seen through these past several years …… from just a guy who wishes only the Best for You and your Awesome Family and Friends.
PS ……….. I am still BLOWN AWAY by your Version of ” RING of FIRE ” Woooo Hooooooo
And then again I am Blown Away by the rest of your songs I DOWNLOADED from iTUNES :-)

Just a Thought ……. from Another one of your Fans …….

Jim aka eX1

Kartrine | 5/25/2009, 12:39 am EST

I rather feel silly, but as a 71 year old Canadian female, I will miss seeing Adam every Tuesday and Wednesday. LOL
I love Adams unpredictability. There was always something new and exciting, unlike Kris.
I am not knocking Kris, he seems to be a very nice fellow, but I found him rather boring.

Cassie | 5/25/2009, 2:23 am EST

There’s no way to fix what happened with American Idol. So if you love Adam what you can do for him now is to support him. Sign up for his official fan site adamofficial
and buy his songs and videos on ITunes including “No Boundaries”. We can’t give him the AI crown/title but we can make him the most successful Idol loser in history!

Brenda | 5/25/2009, 3:11 am EST

YES! Thank goodness Adam did not win AI and be under the thumb of that obnoxious Englishman. Adam is the consummate REBEL. He can manage himself very well. Adam got the exposure he needed and it’s only UP from now on.
I am so looking forward to buying your amazing CD and seeing you in concert, Adam.
Please sing “UNDER PRESSURE” and maybe even record it on an album.

LeChatz8 | 5/25/2009, 7:13 am EST

I wish David Foster will take Adam Lambert under his wings and make a DUET with our own Pilipina singing sensation Charice Pempengco who appeared several times at Oprah Winfrey Show and has a song in David Foster’s album.
It would be awesome if Adam Lambert and Charice Pempengco who is only 17, who can sing high notes also like Celine Dion and they will really rock the world with their wonderful vocals.

Devis | 5/25/2009, 9:07 am EST

I think I’ll agree with MjSantili. The GaGa way. He is undeniably good and commercial as the male Lady GaGa.I do know that he probably should take the risk and make a change in the punk rock and try bring back the glam-rock culture but as for now; to reach the vast music lovers GaGa style would be appropriate. Daring personality, eccentric performances and over-the-wall wardrobe choices would compliment him and allow him to break the charts. I wish though that he would come out with an album with a wider genre as he is GIFTED and is capable of singing in most genres. Anyhow, I am excited for Adam. Can’t wait to grab my hands on his albums and watch his world tours. Rock on Adam! He’s the star! -MalaysianFan

Kate | 5/25/2009, 9:11 am EST

I think there are a lot of Adam fans that do not want to see him on that god awful AI tour.

Hopefully, he will get his own tour and I will buy a ticket!

Adam, do everything you want and more because you really are so talented! Go for it.

Lena | 5/25/2009, 12:28 pm EST

I think he should do everything he wants – live it to the fullest. He has enormous talent and the charisma and ambition to make things happen. I’ll eagerly buy and go see anything he’s part of!!!

sidewalkstory | 5/25/2009, 1:14 pm EST

To “come on” in regards to his post that voting will equal sales. This is not true! The people outside of the US were not eligible to vote. They will make Adam an international star when it comes to record sales.

Brenda | 5/25/2009, 2:53 pm EST

All Adam fans should boycott the AI tour…I for one am eagerly awaiting The Adam Lambert REBELLION Show…guest acts include MCR, Queen, and The Used!!!!!!!

CARRIE | 5/25/2009, 5:15 pm EST

I will go anywhere to see Adam, even the stinky AI tour. I think he will come out with an amazing CD, I think music is what he wants to do. He has already done broadway!

Adam alone | 5/25/2009, 5:28 pm EST

While “Ring of Fire” wasn’t exactly in the vein of Johnny Cash, Adams style is such that he needs a stand alone version of anything he does.
I am an old gal from the southwest and grew up on country and western back when it and early rock and roll had the same cords – I know ancient – I just want to go on record as saying I LOVE absolutely love what Adam did with that song!

mona | 5/25/2009, 6:03 pm EST

Adam, you raised the bar so high that from the onset you were in a league of your own! Of course the judges praised you to the heavens what else could they say, you were the BEST!!! All your songs were wonderful, Ring of Fire was so awesome! You will be a super star! Can’t wait!

Japanka- Philippines | 5/25/2009, 7:53 pm EST

I am always excited to read the latest news about Adam Lambert- Post AI.
So far, all the news and the reviews are better and he is now recognized worldwide. Thats a good start for this wonderful and handsome guy whose smoldering eys, looked every inch like a young Kurt Russell and Elvis Presley.

Go for the world, adam lambert cuz you are ICONIC and ROCK GOD.

flove his music | 5/26/2009, 2:22 am EST

Don’t like Idol, wouldn’t go near an AI tour, but would spend an obscene amount of money to see Adam once he has his own tour. Of course Adam should do his own thing, but I’d love for him to do a few concerts with Queen. Never thought anyone else could stand beside Brian May until now – would flove to see Adam sing with them a few times & buy the concert DVD.
And he’s not a male Lady GaGa. He’s so much better than that (imo, apologies to her fans) …but he’s so much better than that!!

ann | 5/26/2009, 2:59 am EST

With Adam, I think it’s an “If you Sing It, They Will Come” sort of thing. I’m loving everything from his rock (Whole Lotta Love, Slow Ride) to his slow vibe (Beth, I Just Love You) to his pop/funk Kiss & Tell, and even Is Anybody Listening? (on iTunes), etc, etc, etc.
What sort of album should he make? Probably whatever the heck he wants, or what he said he wanted to make – an eclectic mix. Just tell me 2 things: when it’s on iTunes & when he’s in concert (by himself, not w/Idol).

Melody - Australia | 5/26/2009, 6:33 am EST

Didn’t miss one show of Idol from the minute Adam auditioned. I picked him, from his first performance, as making it all the way. Couldn’t agree more – it’s lucky he didn’t win. He’s have to punch out mediocre crap to please AI. Now he’s free to do whatever he wants – which I hope is a belting glam rock high end album (Man, he could sing the alphabet and I’d buy it). The odd smash hit on broadway wouldn’t hurt either. Whatever he does will be brilliant!

marg | 5/26/2009, 1:26 pm EST

Agree completely with “Flove his music”… would love to sit in a seat at a Queen (or Kiss or Slash) concert with Adam joining them for the night and then buy the concert DVD…that would be amazing!!! also Lady GaGa doesn’t even come close to the same league that Adam is in….Adam, rock on

Karen | 5/26/2009, 4:43 pm EST

I am here to say first of all it’s so unfair he did not get the American Idol title. The voting on American Idol is screwed up. You should not be able to vote as much as you want. You should only be able to vote once or even better start charging for those votes. And I think Adam would have won if the voting was fair.

Peggy | 5/26/2009, 5:14 pm EST

I hope he doesn’t join Queen. And fortunately he came in 2nd so now he CAN do what he wants. (I realized this after I let my tears try from him losing out to Kris). Adam is going to come up with his own style, his own music, his own “Adam Lambert.” Fresh, New and ROCKIN!

POP or Rock | 5/26/2009, 5:18 pm EST

Educated music lovers got an eyefull of POP music last week on Eurovision. I find it facinating all the world (at least in Europe) sings in English yet we ignore the talent. I think Adam should take a cue from Kelly and Carrie and develop his POP side. His version of Zeppellin really got to me, so I know he can sing almost everything.
Note that despite all the contrary evidence, inked up performers do not win American Idol. I think Adam can be Adama and sell tons. But do not blame AI viewers who after all vote thier preference. It makes sense that the biggest vote getters, Carrie and Kelly with Sparks not far behind have found fame and fortune.

Natalie | 5/26/2009, 5:41 pm EST

Omg every1 talkin about the AI tour is making me really depressed. I am desperate 2 go but I am only 16 andI live in Britain. I am gutted Adam would have been amazing 2 c. He was the reason I was obsessed with AI this year. I literally wouldnt get over excited when he was performing and Ii would get goosebumps. Kris had a unique quality to his voice but Adam had that times a hundred plus he had an incredible vocal range. To call Adam a male Lady GAGA is an insult. Lady GaGA is terrible, she cant sing and her songs are nothing special and irritating. Adam is class!!!!! I really hope he becomes famous in the UK as well as the USA because I would rush out and buy his album and I would be first in line to get a ticket to his show. The best rock band are from the 80’s and around that period and they have been lost with the new grunge an heavy metal bands like Slipknot and the Punk bands like Greenday. He will bring back the best rock period and I love him for bringing that to the show. I think with his Ring of Fire performance, it is mainly the people who love the original hate his version and the people who dont really like the original will love his version. Because I agree with him that the lyrics are awesome but the song I dont really like so much with Johnny Cash singing it. But Adams version as sexy and encaptivating and I couldnt take my eyes off of him. He sang it so well and why is indulgent as bad thing???? And as for the way he was dressed I think the eye liner and the rock outfits are so sexy and so cool. He makes me feel like it is alright to stray from being the typical Mariah Carey type singer wannabe and that you can stop trying to live up to someone else and try to make your own unique sound. There was a time when Mariah Careya nd the other diva singers werent around. Adam is unique and and a n amazing vocalist who can show so much emotion in a perforamance and cn also belt out rock songs. He is one of my fave singers of all time right now and I was shocked that he didnt win and I am gutted for him. I hope it is a good thing and I hope that it wasnt just because he is gay. That would be disappointing.

RDean | 5/26/2009, 7:03 pm EST

Take it down a notch? You like with “Tracks of my Tears”? Like that?

Because he guy has an amazing instrument, there is simply no reason why he shouldn’t use it fully.

Adam didn’t “scream out” every song, but sang every style with originally and conviction. Even “Ring of Fire”.

My personal favorite was Allison, but the entire “take it down a notch” is so far off base. When you have incredible talent, you must hide it? Tell Patti La Belle that and see what she says. Tell Michael Bolton. Tell Whitney Houston. Go tell that to Jennifer Hudson. Each and every one blessed with powerful pipes

Anonymous | 5/26/2009, 7:48 pm EST

To suggest that Adam Lambert could become something of the act of Lady Gaga is the biggset low-balling insult there is. Lady GaGa is some stupid chic dressed up in a bubble outfit, on a stage, chirping the most awful noise I’ve ever heard. Adam actually has some talent, so let’s at least respect the guy for that. Frontman for Queen, that’s also an insult because the only true frontman for Queen was Freddy Mercury and no one else can touch him. That band should leave a good legacy alone, and move on in life. To suggest that Adam could singlehandedly bring back glam rock, that might be a tall order; but that is definately up Adam’s alley. Stick with the individual artist route or sing for a band like Velvet Revolver, something of that nature is more Adam than anything like Lady GaGa, or something else insulting like that!

Caitie | 5/26/2009, 9:16 pm EST

Wow, what a great article and what great comments. Adam sure inspires love and admiration from his fans. That is so cool. I wish you all the best Adam. I don’t care what kind of CD you do. I’m buying it!!!!

Adam will be Adam, thank goodness, not an imitation of someone else. there is a definition in the dictionary of “lambert”=a unit of brightness…” bright enough to light up my world.

ryan | 5/26/2009, 10:06 pm EST

Adam should defintely go in the lady gaga direction. she does everything others wont dare to do, and i think thats the direction music is going in towards the future.

Songwriter4adam | 5/27/2009, 4:12 am EST

I would love to see Adam continue to do amazing and fun covers as one of his albums. Hey, I had stopped listening to radio as I was so sick of listening to the same songs and renditions over and over again. But I adored Adam’s covers of “Whole Lotta Love” and “Black and White” and so on. it would be so fun to hear him do a “Adam Lambert: Cover Boy” album.

Regarding his original material, God forbid the “No Boundaries” type crap/pop writers force their way in. I frickin’ hate all these pop songs where you couldn’t hum a bar if it saved your life.

I’d like to see a mix of rock and pop with uptempo and ballads all focusing on the drama – yeah, songs with memorable beginnings, middles and ends that wouldn’t sound like all the generic pablum crap out there now.

LOVE YOU ADAM!

storm | 5/27/2009, 8:28 pm EST

with the scandal leaked that at&t rigged text voting that made kris allen won the AI title, its still my opinion, adam lambert is clearly the american idol winner.

This really suck! AI should investigate this further and not just issue press release that kris allen is definitely the winner. this is a horrible statement.

anyway, in the eyes of the world, its adam lambert who is the winner and he deserve the title as american idol.

alida | 5/29/2009, 5:14 am EST

AT&T is corrupt... | 5/29/2009, 11:12 am EST

Wouldn’t be the first time that AT&T fudged numbers to help someone win… The so-called 1 millionth U-Verse customer that won in Arlington, TX is best friends with a marketing executive in AT&T U-Verse marketing department. Not hard to put two-and-two together. The winner admitted that AT&T told him he was not the 1 milliointh winner. The video can be seen on You Tube.

Dreamer | 5/29/2009, 3:42 pm EST

I’m flying across the country just to see Adam on the AI tour! My fantasy is that the rest of the contestants get food poisoning that day so that the concert is ALL ADAM ALL NIGHT!!!

julzzy | 5/29/2009, 5:55 pm EST

on what planet are Cinderella and Winger glam rock? you youngsters should check your music history. There have been epic belters in every decade of rock, but please don’t lump them together.
The thought of Adam Lambert doing hair metal in a hair metal-ly way is sooooo unappealing.

Though Mr. Lambert’s various sounds harken back to the more subtle (unusual adjective to use I know) and challenging actual glam rock of the 70’s , I would hope , pray , and joyfully anticipate his 21’st century take on the whole thing.

DrGiggles007 | 5/29/2009, 8:05 pm EST

Adam is the best thing to happen to music in a long time. I will see him on the AI tour in a few weeks. I can’t wait for his album and tour.

Dunsa | 5/30/2009, 9:46 am EST

ADAM HAS WON THE “HEARTS” OF THE FANS AROUND AMERICA AND THE ALL AROUND THE WORLD WORLD AND KRIS HAS WON THE “VOTES” SO WHY DON’T YOU PEOPLE JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELVES AND TELL US WHO DESERVED TO WIN??? BUT HONESTLY, IT DOES NOT MATTER ANYMORE!!!! I LOVE KRIS TOO BUT I LOVE ADAM MORE!!!!

Carrie | 5/30/2009, 3:06 pm EST

I hope he does a multitude of things! He is PURE TALENT and whether that is recording an album, staring in a movie, etc. the world is his oyster!!!!
I LOVE ADAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KLS in Bangkok | 5/30/2009, 7:06 pm EST

Adam, true professional who will surely emerge from this contest a winner with or without the title. Looking forward to what he will do. Adam with Queen, And Kiss were my favorite performances, would love to hear more.

AdamRocks | 5/31/2009, 12:39 am EST

As someone who listens to everything, ADAM is unique, daring, talented, great voice, great persona, great looks, did I say DARING? honest, doesn’t play games, is who he is, funny, THE WHOLE PACKAGE. Adam can DO ANYTHING and WILL SUCCEED. CANNOT WAIT TO BUY ROLLING STONE MAG WITH HIM ON COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He deserves it! AI and Kris are history, Adam was right — he used it as a jumping board, to get the exposure he needed in this competitive business. He is going to be an ICON!!!! He should change his name to just ADAM, just like MADONNA. Should just be ADAM. Everyone knows who we mean!!!

Hello Adam,

Loved your voice, your entire feeling you poured into your craft. You made us cry and weep through entire songs and pulled us up outta the abyss. In fact, you even got me through my awful MRI test! I hummed the Mad World tune remembering the soul you put into it and the whole miserable afternoon melted away and just the memory of you loving your art transported me out of the awful reality of the banging of the MRI machine. God bless you, your God given talent and may He keep you safe and out of anything that may harm you so we can enjoy for one more time your beautiful voice. I will buy anything you put out there Adam. You put your time in and we can all tell you worked very hard to get where you are. Don’t ever give in or up. We will all support you!!

Michigan Fan

Adam was the winner no matter what the vote was! His exceptional performances gave me goose bumps and I know he’ll go on to be a star. I am a 55 year old fan on Vancouver Island, B.C. and can hardly wait for a CD! Adam has a presence about him and personality that makes me think he will be able to handle the stardom and we will be hearing him for many years to come! He is REAL – I think you’re the best Adam!!!!!

my 78 yr old mother is absolutely ’smitten’ with Adam. she downloaded all of his songs from itunes and is constantly listening to it. she loves “whole lotta love” and says what difference does it make WHAT he does behind closed doors? or with whom he does it. He is a natural on the stage. He is an excellent singer, the BEST she has EVER heard and an awesome performer/entertainer.And i totally agree with her. Go ADAM!!

i love adam!!! | 6/3/2009, 5:43 pm EST

I want to see Adam do his own thing. I think that’s what he does best…. being what and who he is. Let me just say this. I’ve tried to make since of what is so special about Adam’s voice. I can’t pin point it but the best way I can say it is… when his performs, his voice enters at ‘ear level’. Then he hits those notes that enter not though ones ears, but above that, through ones temples, if that is possible. He casts you into this euphoria. And it is such a ‘high’. It’s amazing! Than there’s that wonderful character he displays, his warm beautiful smile and his gorgeous eyes (made up with eyeliner or not). He’s definitely a stand out artist that needs to be out there on his own, not with another band.

as a 52 year old woman, i remember when music was good. i loved marc bolan, the father of glam rock and adam has that vibe about him. i told a friend that when i listen to adam sing i feel like i just had sex and that’s what good music should make you feel, an orgasm of the mind. adam lambert is incredible and he is everything that music should be. it should make you feel a little uncomfortable and exhilerated like a roller coaster ride.

Adam’s biography on Wilkipeda was corrected and they deleted the part that he is jewish. He is JEWISH and now his biography is incomplete. Freud,Einstein,Marx,Spinoza,Ch aplin,Streisand,Zac Ephron,Levi Strauss,Woody Allen,Billy Joel, etc, etc, etc.THEY ARE ALL JEWISH

I think and I hope, Adam focuses on his very-promising music career.

Has anyone heard the music of Hana Pestle?? NO?? Go to youtube and list to her song “Need”. She and Adam would make wonderful music together just once. He’s the most talented performner/artist/actor I’ve seen in years – I’m 62. My husband, who doesn’t watch Idol, watched him during the whole top 13 to the finale and has him on his favorites. He’s AWESOME. I wish they would make a DVD of all his performances – everyone would buy them and they would all make a fortune. He did’t win AI, but he’s the winner all the same.

Can’t wait for the new issue with Adam on the cover!!! HURRY!!! :)

FMBROWN | 6/9/2009, 12:21 pm EST

Adam won, no question about it. Regardless of what AI said. I truly will not watch next season. Adam just like every other Idol that should have one in other seasons,i.e. Jennifer, Clay, Chris will have GREAT success!!

Verehrerin | 6/9/2009, 3:42 pm EST

He should NOT sound like Eno but DEFINITELY DO A DUET WITH PINK!!!!!

PLEASE, ADAM!!

DUET WITH PINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

skyprincess | 6/9/2009, 6:22 pm EST

Adam will, and should, do next, what Adam wants to do!! He’s courageously and brilliantly taken his career into his own hands with his Idol run and whatever he dishes out we will gobble up!! Just hurry Adam!! We’re starving for real talent out here!

Flee | 6/10/2009, 11:22 am EST

Adam has said that he does not want to be genre typecast, that he likes all sorts of musical styles and would like his album to reflect that. He wants his music to be fun, danceable etc..

Try to listen to ‘Pop Goes the Camera’, a real techno rock dance tune! I have tried to research the actual author of the song, and it just says “by Adam Lambert”, try to view the lyrical version on youtube where the words definitely do tell the story – what happens when one becomes famous… a little deja vu methinks??

Kara | 6/16/2009, 8:15 pm EST

I think they should stop trying to tell him what he should do and just let him do what he wants. That’s when the best music comes out of an artist. It seems like they’re trying to push him and not just let him be free about it. If his album turns out sucky, than it’s not like he’s never going to make a new one, but I’m sure it won’t. I think Adam has a good feel for music and his vision.
Just let him be himself. Geez.

simon fuller know exactly what to do with this beautiful talented man. we got a glimpse of him in the studio on 20/20 and i was so hot over it. He is in the right hands now. Fuller be him on
“A CHANGE IS GONNA COME”
Best song other than “One”
both hot hot hot.
Go adam your in great hands baby.

wasn't Fuller was all Lambert | 6/29/2009, 12:32 am EST

simon fuller had nothing to do with Adam Lambert and Change is Gonna Come…he did HIS OWN VERSION at Zodiac way back in 2004 or so – it’s on utube. A magnificent awesome original original original performance. He just toned it down and recreated it for AI. The “Simon Fuller” part was bull IMO. It was ALL ADAM LAMBERT, as usual. Driving his own genius. He just didn’t know about Arkansas and AT^T’s strong hold there. They have many large businesses in Arkansas like WALMART and therefore maintain a large enough sales force to blanket the state with (as was admitted) free phones. And what about this “free texting” deal? How many Adam Lambert fans got one ounce of HELP (meaning cheating( from ATT or AI.

Kris is a sweet guy and we’re happy they have such a bromance going…but business is business and this was dirty. Meanwhile, Adam’s positive attitude will prevail.
