Blink-182 Bring “All The Small Things” to “Leno”

5/20/09, 10:11 am EST

Blink-182 were back on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night for their second of two comeback performances. A night after Mark Hoppus took the lead on Take Off Your Pants and Jacket’s “The Rock Show,” it was time for Tom DeLonge to shine on Enema of the State’s “All The Small Things.” The performance revealed how much DeLonge’s voice has changed since the band first released the song nearly a decade ago, as the guitarist broke out his Angels & Airwaves-style stately yelp. And you’ll probably never see Blink and football player/analyst Terry Bradshaw share the same stage again.

(Take a look back at Blink’s own Rock Show: their entire career, in photos.)

The punk trio embark on their reunion jaunt — with Fall Out Boy or Weezer opening up, depending on the gig — on July 24th at Las Vegas’ the Joint. From there, the band hits Canada, the Northeast, the Midwest, the Pacific Northwest and places in-between before returning to California for five shows throughout the Golden State. The tour wraps up October 3rd in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Check out all Blink’s tour dates here.

Blink-182 made their first reunion appearance last week with a surprise performance at a T-Mobile Sidekick launch party in Los Angeles, where the band performed a trio of hits: “The Rock Show,” “Dammit” and “Feeling This. “To be honest, it was one of the best nights of my life,” Hoppus wrote on his blog after the show. “Thanks to Travis and Tom. You are my brothers, and it feels amazing to share the stage with you once again.”

(Check out photos of Hoppus, DeLonge and Barker as Blink return to the stage.)

tom sounds sick. and not in a good way.

TheCoz | 5/20/2009, 1:32 pm EST

Weezer are opening for these guys? Good God almighty. At least Rivers can sing, Tom sounds like he’s having an “emorgasm”. The band had better practice some more. They are not sounding tight at all.

B | 5/20/2009, 2:26 pm EST

Wow, Tom DeLonge sounds AWFUL. At the very least this was a catchy song for teenagers back in the day, now it sounds like a cat dying. This is a joke, right?

somebody | 5/20/2009, 3:18 pm EST

Why wants Tom to lead Blink into an emo scene?

Dophalis | 5/20/2009, 3:20 pm EST

Tom needs to get out of Angels & Airwaves mode immediately. That band sucked. His singing style in that band sounds HORRIBLE. Please sing normal and actually try. No one is going to buy into this reunion if it is way half ass like these performances TOM.

Disappointed | 5/20/2009, 3:27 pm EST

Tom sounds just awful. My band in 7th grade sounded better. This is Blink-182, not Angels and Airwaves. STOP RUINING EVERYTHING!

chrie | 5/20/2009, 5:36 pm EST

wow tom’s voice has changed immensely!

Peter Brady | 5/20/2009, 5:47 pm EST

When it’s time to change you’ve got to re-arrange…

Tom DeOld | 5/20/2009, 8:53 pm EST

Damn-Tom has aged in dog years since their heyday. Travis and Mark still look about the same.

a | 5/20/2009, 9:27 pm EST

WTF!!!

cwebb | 5/20/2009, 9:36 pm EST

wow, tom was horrible. this isn’t blink airwaves or angels and airwaves. if he wants to go back to his band he should, cause last night, he basically ruined the band’s reputation. if he dosen’t wanna do it, i’m sure travis and mark could make a living with +44. they did great, tom just plain out BLEW.

luke | 5/20/2009, 10:04 pm EST

laaaaaaame.
he better work on his singing or get the hell off stage.
sounds like he hasn’t opened his mouth in five years

thecatsass | 5/20/2009, 10:33 pm EST

CRAP!!

Digital | 5/20/2009, 10:38 pm EST

While I like most of Blink 182’s catalog,I would much rather prefer another A&A album. I listen to enough bare bones groups, and the epic space adventure sound of A&A is fun in my opinion. There is absolutely no fucking way anyone could convince that +44 was better, or even cloe to being as good as A&A. After the rather long hiatus it is going to take some time for them to regain their comfort, and composure with each other.

miggy | 5/20/2009, 11:19 pm EST

all u guys souyd graet cant wait for th new album

blink 182 | 5/21/2009, 9:37 am EST

never know 4 being a talented live band…just drink more booze and enjoy the scene! will be a great show!

AVA= Biggest Letdown Ever | 5/21/2009, 12:09 pm EST

After Tom hyped up the crap out of the first AVA album in 2006, only for the public to find out that it was a fake sounding, digitized, unoriginal, U2 wannabe pile of junk, I stopped listening to anything that guy said. I got my hopes up that this reunion could work, but now I realize that Tom is just a lazy douche that wants to re-inflate his bank account with a band that people actually like. PS: +44 is and will always be better than pretentious Angels & Airwaves.

sonyD | 5/21/2009, 2:00 pm EST

i love blink but dam this is the worst thing i have ever seen. mark and travis did great. however tom ruined the performance with those vocals man its the worst thing i have ever heard. what a let down…

julie | 5/21/2009, 6:00 pm EST

tom was always my favorite and im disappointed..i hope he was sick

Steve | 5/22/2009, 12:25 am EST

travis just got in a plane crash not to long ago and hes better than both of them…still going to see them in hershey

Shannon | 5/22/2009, 8:12 am EST

Tom really is going to ruin blink if he keeps singing like that. I mean I absolutely love Blink and I was so excited to hear them on Leno, but seriously, it’s not angels and airwaves, ITS BLINK! Please keep singing it the way we all love it and don’t change it!

Shannon | 5/22/2009, 8:14 am EST

OMG and what if he’s singing like that on the new blink cd? : (

Shonen | 5/22/2009, 2:50 pm EST

its just a reunion afterall guys.. but yea.. Tom lost his vocal, I think I saw another Tom here.. LoL

jimmy d | 5/22/2009, 8:11 pm EST

tom’s trying to sing to much and he needs to break out the triple rectifier, cause i wasn’t feeling the vox amps too much.

steve | 5/23/2009, 5:30 am EST

get back to angels and airwaves there much beter then blink 182,

terry | 5/23/2009, 5:32 am EST

Romanov | 5/23/2009, 12:09 pm EST

Music the Blink-182 to be cool!To exist A Tour’s where necessary to be healthy of horse. But band’s punk rock it hard’s people’s?.Romanov.

Chris | 5/25/2009, 8:19 pm EST

I dont care what you say. I thought toms voice wasnt that bad. It sounded mature but not horrible. Also, his guitar playing has gotten better. He only dropped a few notes instead of his usual 3/4 of a song dropped notes. Hes improved as a musician. Grow up and live with it

i dont care what anyone says they are still blink 182 and im happy they are together again. it was a great performance.

BRADSFG | 5/27/2009, 2:54 am EST

Didn’t Tom say in interviews that he was obessesed with The Police and Pink Floyd and shit after Blink 182 broke up? Because if you ask me, he’s trying sing like Sting… that’s definitely not his natural voice. Tom just be yourself man

BRADSFG | 5/27/2009, 2:58 am EST

Man, just listened to it again. It’s sounds like he’s trying to mimick The Police and The Cure… it’s so annoying

adison | 5/28/2009, 12:53 pm EST

tom started singing like that at the start of blinks last album. i saw them right before they broke up on their tour with no doubt and he sounded exactly like that. i hope to god its different when i see them this summer but i doubt it will be as he obviously didnt get the hint 5 years ago.

John "Neo_182" Cauvier | 6/10/2009, 2:09 pm EST

Yeah. That was. Horrible.

Fucking hope they filter out that crap from the upcoming album.

boxcar&airwaves182 | 6/18/2009, 9:15 pm EST

stop bashing Tom’s singing, its actually unique…yeah, his voice was better in blink and Box Car, but in AvA it changed and this is it now, im kinda hoping it goes back, but there are some really cool points in his performances, and you cant deny that. his guitar playing kicks more ass than ever, and in AvA the vocals suited the style, and he wrote some of the most amazing lyrics in that band. (thats why +44 is nowhere near as good, Mark’s a good lyricist, but not even close to Tom) you ppl are way too over-opinionated and totally bashing blink. blink has been and will always be my favorite band of all time, and it is NOT just a reunion. it’s a continuation of the band, as stated by Mark in an Alternative Press interview, they say they plan on continuing +44 and AvA, but im hoping blink stays permanent…anyways, screw u guys, Tom does sound pretty good, but not as good as he used to.
