I think it’s a big deal, and being in the military my job along with all the other soliders IS to try to stop senseless killings in africa, iraq,afghanistan,iran.I’m a medic so I’ve seen a handful of my good friends AND people I don’t know killed over sea’s. By gun shot, AED’s, missles, and all the other creative ways people kill other people in war. And my heart went out to ALL of them. American or not. I also lost my best friend in a car crash ( a drunk driver crashed into her car head on) and had to go to my little sisters funeral after she was mugged and stabbed to death. We didn’t live in the greatest neighborhood, but she was an “a” “b” student who hung out with the student council president and the cross country team. (and, I’m 100% positive Dolla didn’t mug my sister…sooo.)

Quite frankly, I know ALOT of people who give a crap and think these killings are a big deal. And when it comes to someone who the media knows and it gets this sort of publicity, it brings awareness to these killings. It doesn’t matter that he’s famous, what he rapped about, or who he kicked it with. What matter’s is people’s awareness to the situation.

As for the comment about, why aren’t we pouring our hearts out to the kids murdered and the 645 people being killed in La everyday…how do you know these people aren’t feeling for them? How do you know if they aren’t donating money to help kids in Africa or if they have a brother,father or sister that fought in Iraqi Freedom? They may be “promoting” their feelings on this guys murder…but you need to do your research before you start judging people you don’t know and “promoting” crap of your own that makes you look sort of like an ignorant dick head. Sometimes, when playing pairs, we would wear cashmere sweaters of red vs. blue to simulate & pay homage to the age-old rivalry of ‘bloodies’ vs. ‘cripies’. We would pass each other in our golf carts & gently toss the club hats at each other to simulate ‘drive-past shootings’. In fact, I have come to view our golf pairings as a sort of allegory, if you will, for the fraternal bonds developed through mutual membership in a street gang, or ‘posse’, as I believe they are referred to. Ahhh, the whimsicalities of urban life. Will they never cease?

Do rappers still want to project the “I’m a gangsta” image? Cause there’s NOTHING cool about it. It’s not cool to get shot 9 times. And there’s a difference between telling your life story as is and glamorizing the dark parts of it to make the kids think you’re cool. Look at Biggie Smalls and Tupac. Look where they are now. Why don’t rappers take a cue from T.I. and leave the “hustla” life behind and make living a clean life and being a law-abiding citizen a cool thing?
