Eminem Reveals Rehab Confidant Was Elton John, “Relapse” Bonus

Eminem has launched his Relapse pre-order page with a bonus: anyone who buys his new four-star album from the official Relapse site gets a copy of the grisly “3 A.M.” video now. Plus, for some added incentive, “I’m giving away an extra free song with my album if you buy the Relapse CD. I’m still on the run, my darling,” Eminem said on his Twitter page. However, the preorder page says that he album comes with “2 bonus song downloads,” so Em is wrong in a good way. There’s also a Limited Edition Deluxe version on the album, which features the CD, 12” vinyl, all the downloads, plus an autographed print and a collectible Relapse pill bottle.

In other Eminem news, the rapper’s 1996 debut Infinite is being offered a free download via 50 Cent’s ThisIs50 website right now, MTV reports. The album was originally limited to just vinyl and cassette, but has been heavily bootlegged over the past decade. “I recorded Infinite in 1995, my first album,” Eminem said in his autobiography The Way I Am. “It sold maybe 70 copies and didn’t get great feedback. A lot of people said it sounded like Nas, and he was a heavy influence at the time. But I had an album out, and I could say that.”

Eminem also spoke to Detroit’s Metro Times about how his former “Stan” duet partner Elton John helped him recover from his pill addiction. “I talk to Elton a lot. We became friends and I talk to him about things, career wise. And he had a substance abuse problem in the past,” Em said. “He’s somebody who’s in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be. He understands like the pressure and any other reasons that you wanna come up with for doing drugs, you know. Me and him have had similar lives and stuff. So I reached out to him and told him, ‘Look, I’m going through a problem and I need your advice.’ ”

Have you seen the latest promo idea they’re doing for Eminem?
In Covent Garden, London on Monday 18th May they’re setting up a ‘Relapse Centre’ where you can go and listen to the new album in an hospital themed environment. With stuff like Eminem lookalikes, nurses handing out fake blood test tubes and surgeons giving head and shoulder massages.
It’s on 8am-8pm
Check it out!

Rich CT | 5/14/2009, 9:41 am EST

This guy is totally talentless.

To Rich(but not Eminem rich)CT | 5/14/2009, 10:15 am EST

Talentless? Come up with a 3 1/2 minute rap song then. I’ll bet it sounds like shit.

same ol-same ol | 5/14/2009, 10:17 am EST

the new songs sound exactly like everything else he has put out. He was original and fresh at first, but now it’s just played out. He’s still infinitely better than 50 Cent.

Wait | 5/14/2009, 11:48 am EST

So does anyone know what the 2 bonus songs are?

Matt B | 5/14/2009, 12:31 pm EST

“…you can download a top-quality version of the LP now.”

I followed the link and the only immediate digital content offer currently available is “All pre-orders from Eminem.com include an immediate digital download of an iPod compatible “3 a.m.” video. Remaining digital content will be made available to purchasers when Relapse is released on May 1.”

Am I missing something?

MB | 5/14/2009, 1:12 pm EST

Who cares about Eminem

Harold | 5/14/2009, 1:46 pm EST

So I’m no Eminem fan, but the early stuff in the free download is pretty cool!

tru-dude | 5/14/2009, 2:55 pm EST

this album is the best, ‘infinite’ is still the best em song ever.

Schultz | 5/14/2009, 3:41 pm EST

Every picture I see of this ass makes me wanna punch him in the face! Whatta dick!

Stop and think | 5/14/2009, 4:01 pm EST

People are always so quick to rail on Eminem. They need to separate their distaste for the controversy he always conjures up from the actual quality of his music. It’s not easy writing a rap song that is deeply personal. Nor is it easy to rise to prominence in spite of everyone’s (and especially the black rap community’s) skepticism. Public Enemy and Dr. Dre certainly have been an influence on Kongcrete. And their respect is not easy to earn.

frog leg | 5/14/2009, 4:34 pm EST

i could care less about crap…i mean rap but ive always thought eminem was pretty unique simply cuz he doesnt just corner himself with songs about making money, partys and whores like most rappers do. he actually talks about his personal life which is something most rappers dont do.

skittles | 5/14/2009, 5:21 pm EST

Stop and think—-he comunicates the poetry of hate. I’d say we really have neough of that going around without m&M’s 2 cents worth. Doesn’t take much to spread hate. he needs to heal up and move on. Plus, seeing him flip the bird is a worn out and trite image. He has used his 15 minutes.

Mike | 5/14/2009, 6:06 pm EST

“nurses handing out fake blood test tubes and surgeons giving head and shoulder massages.”

surgeons giving head…. hahahaha

huh | 5/14/2009, 10:36 pm EST

what a punk get a real job loser

huh | 5/14/2009, 10:37 pm EST

back to michigan loser

Mike | 5/15/2009, 12:25 am EST

Haha Rich CT, are you serious? You may not like him because you don’t like rap, you may not like his obscene lyrics, and you may not like his antics as a public figure, but he’s very talented. I don’t even like rap and I acknowledge that he’s one of the most talented lyricists since the early 1990s, both in rhymes and in depth of his material.

dude | 5/15/2009, 12:56 am EST

You could photo-shop Andy Dick’s head to that picture and it would look the same.

God | 5/15/2009, 1:30 am EST

Eminem looks like a forty something lesbian now, thanks to his drug addiction. He also permanently destroyed his brain and his music sucks now.

Ryan | 5/15/2009, 3:55 am EST

Eminems songs are like coasters, his CD is like a giant theme park of manic craziness. Anyone who thinks Eminems played… man, wtf is in your playlist? I guarantee nothing stands to the realness that is Mr. Marshal Mathers

emo | 5/15/2009, 8:05 am EST

hahaha he does look like andy dick now but that is neither here nor there. What about his music?

azio | 5/15/2009, 8:38 am EST

go ahead and hate eminem that’s fine with him but if he sucks so bad and is talent-less how does he sell like 10 million records every time he drops an album …screw platinum he goes DIAMOND ….but he sucks

weegie | 5/15/2009, 12:50 pm EST

Hateful little twerp…and why does a 5′ 7″, 140 pound dweeb always pose in idiotic gangsta style ?

dlt | 5/15/2009, 2:25 pm EST

Eminem needs a hair weave, perhaps. I think Elton John got Axl Rose hooked up w/ one

andrew | 5/15/2009, 3:45 pm EST

3am is actually a terrible track. He has alright songs. I don’t think that 3am was a good choice for a single, besides that fact that it brings the shock factor that people in this sick world respond to.

panache | 5/15/2009, 6:53 pm EST

love or hate ….you people have time !!

eminem #1 | 5/15/2009, 11:21 pm EST

he’s danm talented! im not feelin sum of da tracks on relapse but the lyrics are flawless! give da guy break duudes!

Black Hole Sun | 5/16/2009, 12:07 pm EST

Granted, I’m not a fan of his latest singles (We Made You, 3AM) but to say he’s untalented is going a bit far. He’s proven that he is the farthest thing from untalented. Unlike 98% of today’s rappers, he doesn’t talk about how much money, cars, women and jewelry he has. He talks about real stuff that people can relate to, his imperfect personal life, his unideal childhood and the downsides of success. Even when he’s not serious, he still manages to avoid going the same route from other rappers. How many rappers do you know use thought-provoking comedy in their music? Kanye West certainly would not be creative enough to do so, no matter how much he believes he’s the greatest thing to happen to music. And Em doesn’t pretend to be from the streets, he IS from the streets. There’s no Vanilla Ice pretentiousness. He doesn’t lie about having a criminal record to make himself seem “gangsta”, either (I’m talking to you, Rick Ross and Akon). Another thing that bothers me is that a lot of people forget Lose Yourself was the first rap song to win an Oscar (and rightfully so), instead they give Three 6 Mafia (It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp) that credit. Well where are they now?

HisPrinceMichael | 5/16/2009, 6:38 pm EST

Riiiiiight-riiiiight.
Bottom-line? Lil Em, Dre-dre,
and the forty-seven others it
takes for them to make their

Johnny from Trenton | 5/16/2009, 7:19 pm EST

Oh, he’s got anger, huh, well so do I mother fucker, he’s got anger, let him go play a game of tennis in hs nice white outfit &cool off, or better yet, spend a day at Trenton State Prison!!

HisPrinceMichael | 5/16/2009, 7:41 pm EST

Riiiiight-riiiight.

Dave | 5/17/2009, 9:36 am EST

I just watched “3 AM” What a piece of crap. A Horror movie, with a druggie as the star cutting people up- lovely role model for teenagers, whose brothers, fathers and and friends are dying for real in Iraq and Afghanistan. This shit deserves to played at 3:00 AM, or not at all.

Christina | 5/17/2009, 1:39 pm EST

Some of you guys aare really dumb. Go get a real job? What the fuck? Your stupid fucking ass must not realize a “real job” doesn’t pay like being a rapper who sells thousands upon thousands of CDS. Much more then your shitty job at Staples.

Johnny | 5/17/2009, 3:36 pm EST

hey you fuckin morons, y’all need to read mycomments below, about Marshall, he’s just suckin the money out of your wallets, so let’s put a stop to it right now. He is a little fuckin worthless Gangsta.
I’m talkin to you Eminem, I’m told that you read this Blog, so read this . . . “Go fuck yourself, you worthless piece of crap”. This society has enough problems, without your contrived anger & hate.
Your therapist is calling so get the fuck out of here now motherfucker!

weegie | 5/17/2009, 6:58 pm EST

More annoying than his fake black accent is his fake black BROOKLYN accent ! WTF ? You’re a scrawny white kid from lower middle class white Detroit and you speak with a black Brooklyn accent ala RUN DMC…………fake fake fake fake fake…..a white rapper, um hmmmmmmmmmm…..

paddy | 5/17/2009, 7:02 pm EST

Johnny you are a meat head. That is all.

weegie | 5/17/2009, 7:04 pm EST

And oh, everyone commenting on his great “talent”, please…he TALKS at a rapid pace into a microphone ! Hellloooooooo…doesn’t sing..doesn’t play an instrument..the hype placed on him and knuckleheads like Kanye is ridiculous, remember when musicians were admired for years of practicing their instruments ? Or working on their singing voice ? Picking up a mic and TALKING isn’t the most stunning ability, c’mon. And the “lyrics”, pffftt….shalllow boasting, threats, more boasting, the ladies love me, blah blah blah. A real singer would never get away with this stuff, the arrogance ! They’d be boo’d off the stage. Why do rappers get a break on mouthing this brain dead annoying posing ?

haha | 5/18/2009, 8:37 am EST

Look at all the haters! THAT is how you know Em is back… when people are talking shit, he’s doing his job… haha, losers.

RELAPSE TOMORROW! The King is Back!

SuBee | 5/18/2009, 12:24 pm EST

I’ve listened to his whole album and I gotta say hand’s down it’s going to be the best album for 3 years straight unless he comes out with another one within those 3 years. Relapse is distorted, inhuman, mind-bogling, just plain sick. But at the same time it’s very detailed, vivid, and imaginative. When listening to the album it makes me feel a bit under the influence of some type of psychodelic drug. I have to give this song an 8 but the album overall is a 10. When it drops everyone has to buy it cause it is what I call a classic.

Drew | 5/19/2009, 7:17 pm EST

eminem is one of the best rappers of all time people saying that singers are more talented when they have there voice enhanced. you kidding me, he’s a lyrcist, producer, actor and has his own music label and clothing line.

Anonymous | 5/20/2009, 5:29 pm EST

The sad part is rap music and creative lyrics have taken such a dive the industry needed a cd like this to help bring music back. This flashy little make up a dance to sell a cd and make up funny words to make a song popular only encourages ignorance in the streets now anyone with half a brain wouldn’t cut people up and kid nap people which is way this cd is so great it tells a story. so go listen to your talentless lil wayne, and nelly or whoever the hell you think is the newest thug in the street with the hottest videos and dancers in the backround or start listening to real music.

kris f | 5/24/2009, 3:01 pm EST

marshall i just want to say “thank u”. u truly are somethin special n there arent enough ppl around this small world that appreciate the level u are at. for all u haters out there, n for all u jokers who dont rly listen to music closely n study the lyrics, the delivery, n the beats, this guy is an absolute genius; a master of rhythm, assonance, alliteration, and all the rest of the literary devices he utilizes. relapse is incredible, and im rly lookin forward to relapse 2.

davetfour | 5/25/2009, 1:19 am EST

i like beautiful it’s hot. I got to give it up to DR Dre’s beat they are tight.

Me | 5/26/2009, 11:21 pm EST

This is to Dave. Just wanted to say that I grew up listening to Eminem as a teenager. I joined the Air Force at 19 and will be going to Afghanistan in 3 months. Mature people can take responsibility for their own actions. And at least now I have a new album to listen to while I’m in Afghanistan.

Tiara | 5/31/2009, 7:13 pm EST

Oh wow. I can’t believe all of the negative s**t on this site! I agree with everyone else who has written in to say—If you don’t like Eminem or his work, don’t listen! Don’t comment. Don’t get upset. Aren’t there more important venues for you to exercise your freedom of speech?
Come on!!!!

Dan | 8/31/2009, 11:22 am EST

Eminem is cool…for a rapper.
