As you might have heard by now, Wilco’s new album Wilco (The Album) leaked last night. Understanding that fans may be tempted to listen to the Chicago band’s follow-up to Sky Blue Sky before its June 30th release date, Wilco are giving fans a (legal) alternative to downloading the album. Starting today, Wilco: The Album is streaming on Wilco’s official Website with a choice of either low or high quality for “Wilco: The Stream” as the band is jokingly calling it.

Rock Daily recently spoke to Wilco’s Glenn Kotche about the band’s new LP. Talking about the song “Wilco (The Song),” Kotche described the track as “a great, upbeat song professing our love for our fans.” One of the album’s centerpieces is the track “Bull Black Nova,” a song that seamlessly combines Television’s Marquee Moon with the band’s own A Ghost Is Born krautrock-inspired epic “Spiders (Kidsmoke).” “That one’s a really intense, powerful song,” Kotche said of “Nova.” “It’s got a static groove that’s really insistent. There’s a lot of great guitar moments on that song.” And now you can hear it for yourself, plus the band’s collaboration with Feist on “You and I,” over at the Wilco site now.

Wilco the band will take Wilco (The Album) on the road this summer, highlighted with performances at both Bonnaroo and the 10,000 Lakes Festival. The band will also play some minor league ballparks like Brooklyn’s Keyspan Park. Kotche also promised that the band will dig deep into their own catalog for the summer shows, constantly changing up set lists for each concert.

It’s a great, solid Wilco record. Excellent. I just wish they would’ve given Nels Cline a little bit more spotlight with the guitar solos like Sky Blue Sky. Oh well, I’m not complaining. Fantastic music.
