We here at Rock Daily have always wondered, “What it would be like to be married to rapper DMX?” Evidently, it’s a marriage worthy of its own segment on an E! show, as Rapper Wives: True Hollywood Story will air tonight, May 13th at 10 p.m. ET/PT, on the entertainment channel. In our exclusive clip from the episode, DMX’s wife Tashera Simmons talks about how fortune at first was “like a dream,” but ultimately it was the fame that drove her husband into a downward spiral. DMX is currently incarcerated in an Arizona prison on a whole litany of charges, and recently made a bad situation worse by attacking a detention officer while behind bars.

“People tend to lean on things like drugs and alcohol,” Tashera says on THS. “In X’s case, he already had a lot of demons that he was fighting before, and when he became on top the world, things got worse.” What’s really surprising is that DMX’s wife calls him “X” instead of his real name, “Earl.” The special will also feature conversations with the wives of Mos Def, Paul Wall and Luther Campbell.
