Weekend Rock List: Star Songs

5/8/09, 4:56 pm EST

All the chatter about the hot new Star Trek movie got us thinking about how often “stars” of all kinds come up in songs. David Bowie could probably fill a Rock List by himself, but we figured we’d branch out a bit. Hit us with your suggestions in the comments and we’ll tally up a list on Monday. Here’s a few to get you going:

• “Star Man” – David Bowie
• “Lucky Star” – Madonna
• “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” – Oasis
• “California Stars” – Billy Bragg and Wilco
• “Rock Star” – Hole

There’s that one Alt-Rock song called “Stars” from the mid-90s. The name of the band escapes me. It was just recently on a Cadilac commercial for like a year.

Anyone know who I’m talking about?

That song was played a lot back then…

S.O. | 5/8/2009, 6:43 pm EST

The main lyric of that “Stars” song goes…

“She thinks she missed the train to mars, she’s out back counting Stars!”

TheCoz | 5/8/2009, 6:53 pm EST
