David Letterman nabbed U2 for a week-long residency on his show in March, and now Jimmy Kimmel’s getting one of rap’s biggest and most reclusive stars to hype up his late-night program. Nine-time Grammy winner Eminem, who releases his new LP, Relapse, on May 19th, will be performing (albeit in pre-taped fashion) on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on May 15th. According to a press release, the rapper will be debuting new material from the album, his first in four years. The following week, Eminem will be back for two more appearances, booked for May 19th and May 22nd, when Em will perform two tracks live from Detroit.

In related news, more information is surfacing regarding some of the special guest appearances we might expect on Em’s new one. According to NME, one of the more unusual guest spots comes from Dominic West, the actor best known for his role as sullen detective Jimmy McNulty in HBO’s defunct cop drama The Wire.

West appears in the album’s opening skit, called “Dr. West,” as a doctor who discharges Eminem from a rehabilitation clinic. Of course, West’s medicine man tries to facilitate the rapper’s relapse, by advising him to “take a drink” to “take the edge off” if he finds himself tempted by booze outside of recovery.

On Thursday, Sirius XM announced that it would be airing a three-hour with Eminem called “Shade 45 Presents…Eminem: The Prelapse Special.” It will air May 15th at 8:00 p.m. on Sirius channel Shade 45, and, according to a press release, Em will take listeners on a guided tour through the making of his album, and will give a track-by-track analysis of the record.

The album leaked yesterday, so it may be dropping earlier than May 19, now.

Oh, and it is INSANE!!! Shady is definitely back, showing exactly why he’s the best in the rap game.

Only complaint: Not a whole lot of depth on the album, which is relinquished in favor of raw technique… Perhaps “Relapse 2″ later this year will fix that?

Nesk | 5/8/2009, 11:09 am EST

Fortunately it already leaked. For me, i mean. I couldnt wait for it to come out and sure enough yesterday it did. This album is the illest album in ages. This album will no disappoint by far.

Relapse 2? idk i still need to finish soaking in this one.

TheCoz | 5/8/2009, 12:28 pm EST

I hope that whomever leaked Em’s new album enjoys spending the next few years in court. When the fuck are kids going to learn that these are copywrited songs? Dr. Dre don’t play that!

emfan01 | 5/8/2009, 12:40 pm EST

no depth how about beautiful for one?

Unfortunately the album leaked yesterday. I must say that the album is impressive! It exceeded my expectations and many other people’s expectations! It is almost at the level of The Marshall Mathers LP! Please make sure to support Eminem and buy his album when it comes out!

The album is a mixture between Marshal Mathers LP and the Eminem Show. I didnt think Eminem had in him anymore to put out this kind of quality of music but the album blows you away. This may actually save rap music for the time being.

Discogarito | 5/8/2009, 2:24 pm EST

I kinda like the new album and i usually hate rap. Bagpipes from Baghdad is tasty.

Wow | 5/8/2009, 6:52 pm EST

Eminem completely blew me away by his new album, yes I listened to the leaked version. Eminem is back and has got his anger back. Special shout out to Underground/Ken Kaniff he is so angry on that song. I’m in fact going to buy 2 of the albums one for me and my friend.

DRDREsmom | 5/9/2009, 4:20 pm EST

John Johnson | 5/9/2009, 10:03 pm EST

yeah, h’s “shady” alright, do you want this little creep to date your sister!?
we don’t need him or his anger, I’m a Born Again Christian, so now i know better, about life, the good, the bad , & the ugly. This little creep is ugly, and a bad person, and if you don’t like it, then you can kiss my big Black Ass!!!!, now get the hell out of here, you woul be Gangstas”, move!

Someone rightly | 5/9/2009, 11:24 pm EST

I don’t know if the album will be great. I haven’t heard it so I can’t say. But I also read some posts where they said that so far the Eminem album has been awesome. FAR FROM IT. Crack a Bottle is the only legit track among those released. 3am came and went without doing anything. We Made You while an OK video was a lame parody track which I’ve seen Eminem just can’t make anymore. First ‘The Real SLim Shady’ was great, then ‘Without Me’ was good, ‘Just Lose It’ was more towards lame and now this is meh…. So if the same people are saying that they heard this album and it was great too then I don’t know what to believe.

JJL16 | 5/10/2009, 3:02 am EST

Relapse is freaking great. I’m definitely going to buy the cd when it comes out. I can’t wait for Relapse 2

Marshall is a bad person, I do not like his music. He is a Gangasta like Lil Wayne, please spend your hard earned money on somehing else -Barth

WTF | 5/10/2009, 4:04 pm EST

Why buy a CD when you got Limewire?

Colin | 5/10/2009, 5:36 pm EST

y’all really do need to grow up, though, and buy the albums. If you worked your ass off at your job – whatever job you’ve got – and all of a sudden at the end of the year found out you were only gonna get half your paycheck, you’d be pissed. Whether or not you fully buy into capitalism, payment for producing your work/material/etc. is what keeps people motivated – that and all the internal motivations, of course.

Please just be less ignorant or selfish. If Slim put out a really great record, reward him for it. Don’t steal it from him. Think about that. Give him props if he deserves it. Pay him.

Peace Brother Jerome | 5/10/2009, 11:10 pm EST

Yoooo Colin (Blogger below) are you high or something?
you want me to pay that freakin Gangsta for the crap he puts out, and corrupting our youth, you are fucked up man!

Shannon | 5/11/2009, 10:43 am EST

The album is great and Eminem is coming back to take the crown. Anyone who likes rap at all will love it. This is way better than Encore and more along the lines of Marshal Mathers LP.

B. SP | 5/11/2009, 11:39 am EST

Wow. Downloaded it. Love it. Buying it the day it drops to show support.

Anonymous | 5/11/2009, 12:48 pm EST

Lewie Abbolafia Hindright | 5/11/2009, 10:31 pm EST

YooHooBoy | 5/12/2009, 4:48 pm EST

I downloaded but buying the CD for sure. Beautiful is a tough song to listen to.. Dont ever put the mic down, EVER!

I like the change up in flows. Some are good some arent but he sticks to them regardless.

Eminem blew me away with 1:31 on underground.. Nice word play.

YooHooBoy | 5/12/2009, 4:57 pm EST

Lewie – You diss eminem for negativity but then you post “insert your garbage here”? Kind of a hypocrite.

Glad you dont like it, but to come to one of his articles to rant is borderline insane.

Ill pick up 2 copies to make up for the lack of yours. Problem solved.

JkgStl | 5/13/2009, 10:54 pm EST

Em’s new album is great. Can’t wait to buy it on CD once it comes out. Will definitely be a fixture in my in dash changer. Definitely download it now, but if you do, make sure you buy the cd or pay for a digital copy once it’s available.

bayareanative56 | 5/14/2009, 1:21 pm EST

JohnJohnson- If you are a born again christian as you say, you have proven to me to be a simple-minded, weak person. Anyone that needs a fictitious dream, which is essentially all “god” is, cannot think for themselves or is too weak to be a good person, just for the sake of being a good person, without some lame-ass, made-up delusion that you will be rewarded for your good duties. Bullshit! Religion is SOOO 20th century!

ant 718 | 5/17/2009, 1:29 pm EST

No one can F with Eminem…He’s the illest rapper alive.Wordplay is insane..stop hating cause you dont understand what he’s saying..his rhymes are too complex for you haters.

anonymous | 6/30/2009, 11:35 am EST
