“The Beatles: Rock Band” Reveals Vintage Guitars, Opens Pre-Order

The makers of The Beatles: Rock Band have revealed the two vintage replica guitars that will be available for purchase when the game hits stores September 9th, 2009: John Lennon’s Rickenbacker 325 and George Harrison’s Gretsch Duo Jet. According to an official press release, the plastic six-strings will be available as “standalone music peripheral controllers,” meaning they won’t be included as part of the Special Edition package that features the vintage bass, drums and microphone. The guitars will carry a price tag of $99. A press release didn’t specify whether that price was for one guitar or both; if it is indeed the cost of one guitar, the price is approximately $30 more than a standard Rock Band guitar.

As Rock Daily previously reported, Paul McCartney’s Höfner bass and Ringo Starr’s Ludwig-branded drums will be replicated for the game. And according to video game blog Kotaku, there might be even more hardware: In an effort to recapture the band’s timeless harmonies, the game will reportedly feature the ability to hook up three microphones at one time to sing together. The news came from an “official description” that was sent to the site that read “The Beatles: Rock Band is the music game experience that allows players to follow the legendary career of The Beatles from Liverpool, to Shea Stadium to Abbey Road. Featuring the ability to play drums, lead guitar, bass guitar or sing three-part harmony with up to three microphones.” This would be the first time any of the Rock Band or Guitar Hero games allowed for dual vocalists, let alone a trio of singers.

In other The Beatles: Rock Band news, starting today, May 5th, the game is available for pre-order at select stores. After the pre-order purchase is made, gamers will receive a code that provides access to an otherwise-unavailable TB:RB Website that offers breaking news, exclusive content and more. September 9th promises to be a huge and costly day for Beatles fans as the Fab Four’s entire remastered discography will also be released on that day.

I dont think itll be as easy as you think. The beatles were an all around band they could sing and play. Ringo plays some mad drums at times. Pauls bass lines are crazy. Trying to sing like John in his later years with the beatles is impossible. And georges later guitar stuff was amazing.

Ok. To the people who think Beatle songs are easy to play obviously dont play a real instrument. Beatle songs are maybe the most challenging songs to cover of all time! Of course to some, hard songs to play means loud and fast. Dont get me wrong, I love Pearl Jam Metallica etc…but to say Beatle songs are easy is a joke. Instead of wasting your time with a video game pick up a real instrument and then your tune will change guarantee.

I like how there are people talking about how we shouldnt spent because we are in a recession. If anything, the way to fix it is to SPEND MORE, so the economy will become stable again.

The guitars look sweet, if i had a credit card, i would go for them in an instant. I like the premium drum set i got recently, although they could have built it tougher…

First I’m not a big Beatles fan but as a music lover I know that 90% of all songs made today use samples from Beatles songs. Second this game isn’t about how hard its going to be, its about playing with a group of people to have “FUN”.
