Starting with their May 15th show in West Palm Beach, Florida, Coldplay will give all fans that attend a gig on their North American Viva la Vida summer tour a free live album, the band revealed on its Website. Fans who aren’t holding tickets to any of those performances can get the nine-song collection, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, as a free download on the band’s official Website starting May 15th. Physical copies of the album will only be available at Coldplay’s concerts, however. The live album culls performances from several cities during the band’s last year of touring and will be available only during its summer tour, which runs until August 9th.

“Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans — the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen,” Coldplay said in a statement. Over half of LeftRightLeftRightLeft’s track list draws from the both the band’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends and their recent Prospekt’s March EP. The collection is rounded out by their X&Y hits “Fix You” and “The Hardest Part’ plus A Rush of Blood to the Head’s “Clocks.”

As Rock Daily previously reported, Coldplay are among the headliners locked in for this year’s All Points Festival. Outside of the Joe Satriani lawsuit, things have been pretty quiet on the Coldplay front, even though the band reportedly reconvened with Viva producer Brian Eno recently to work on some new material.

LeftRightLeftRightLeft track list:

1. Glass of Water
2. 42
3. Clocks
4. Strawberry Swing
5. The Hardest Part/Postcards From Far Away
6. Viva La Vida
7. Death Will Never Conquer
8. Fix You
9. Death And All His Friends

Yo Jerry, you could be the biggest moron to ever live. Coldplay is bigger and better than any fool named joe satriani… suck one

Coldplaygoaway | 5/1/2009, 1:58 pm EST

Coldplay? Seriously? They need to go away. No one is impressed with Chris Martin writing on his hand and flailing around like a dying fish.

They suck. Period.

Courtney. Your comment says all I need to know about your knowledge of music. Now go listen to your Miley cd’s

I really loved their first album Parachutes…

The 2nd album was half decent, and half-shit.

Their 3rd album X&Y, was pure shit, except for a decent song or two.

And Viva La Vida is overrated, overcooked drivel.

I wish they’d return to their Parachutes roots.

Tex101 | 5/1/2009, 5:57 pm EST

Coldplay have certainly earned everything they have set out for. They are on a roll. Their grammy performance was tight- very professional. I’m looking forward to hear new material. X&Y and Vida are their champion albums. Rock on.

u2 made a comment that if they play it right 2010 will be their’s. but so far i only see coldplay still ‘ruling’ 2010 like they did 2009- by making very smart/calculated marketing decisions with their music and with respect for their fans.

sorry- meant 2008 and 2009!

Viva la Coldplay | 5/2/2009, 12:55 am EST

all you sad people who think coldplay are crap should go line up for jonas brothers tickets! Coldplay are awesome!!!

Pam | 5/2/2009, 5:34 am EST

Viva la Vida is a great record with some powerful straightforward tunes. I also love those ambient sounds that clearly reveal Brian Eno´s influence. It´s very generous of Coldplay to give free live CDs to fans who attend their gigs. It´s even more generous that even people who can´t go to a concert can have a free download from the band´s website. I´ve never heard of any other band who gives such a thank you to fans.

Greg | 5/2/2009, 8:49 am EST

I’ve never understood all the Coldplay bashing I’ve read on this site over the years. I suspect it comes from indie snobs who assume that if anything sells it can’t be any good. I love a lot of indie music and I also think Coldplay are a great band. As for U2 thinking this is their year, I have a couple of comments. You’ve got to put out more than one CD over a five year period, and, if you do take five years, the results need to be better than No Line On The Horizon, which is among the two or three weakest Cd’s in their catalogue.

iLly | 5/2/2009, 12:52 pm EST

Hey Pam, actually NIN gave us a free studio album (The Slip), an outstanding free iPhone/iPod touch application, a portion of the instrumental album (Ghosts), etc.

Tom | 5/2/2009, 1:29 pm EST

Hey Pam, did you forget about Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” album too? That was “name your own price” on their website. Name your own price = basically free

iLly: you forgot about the free HD live footage and the free multitracks for us to remix the songs ;)

This will make them even more popular. They are growing. But i prefer them, being a rock band rather than having pop tunes.

Speaking of Joe Satriani…. When Joe hears about this cd/ticket giveaway, I can totally see him trying to sue to get a piece of their concert revenue, since Viva La Vida is on the tracklist.

wisdkstarz | 5/3/2009, 2:46 am EST

Really? you think they would put Viva La Vida on another cd if they really thought Joe Satriani had a case against them? really? Clearly they are not worried and I am sure their lawyers all said go for it he ’s got no shot…..

coldfart | 5/3/2009, 3:12 am EST

coldbarf, coldpuke, coldturd, coldburp, coldpuss, coldsnot,,,,,we could go on and on.

I don’t think Joe has much of a shot… but just saying, he may TRY.

Anonymous | 5/3/2009, 11:29 pm EST

nice one coldplay. everyone loves a freebie!

Coldplay are great! I saw them when they were in Australia and I was worried that I’d miss out on the free album — but, of course, Coldplay are too generous to forget about their non-American fans. Cannot wait until May 15th!

Prism Prison | 5/4/2009, 12:15 pm EST

“You know how I know you’re gay? You like Coldplay.” – LOL

But seriously, I found Trent Reznors marketing approach for the “The Slip” to be much more beneficial not just for the fans but for Reznor’s indefatigable compassion and genius as an artist which, from a business standpoint, was assuredly much more of a sacrifice than Coldplay passing out the cost effective party favors at their shows.
Coldplay needs to go cold-turkey.

namesmith 2 | 5/4/2009, 12:31 pm EST

hey coldfart, you´ve found so many names for this band, you´re the true namesmith! Very creative I have to say. And you´ve made the right decision to use one of your awesome ideas for yourself.

auggie | 5/4/2009, 12:45 pm EST

Thanks but no thanks

Kevin | 5/4/2009, 4:33 pm EST

‘you know how I know you’re gay? you like Coldplay!’ Wow! You are the VERY first person to ever say that! It’s hilarious when people who don’t like Coldplay say that joke and think they made it up or something.
Honestly, Coldplay is one of the best bands around today. They really do deserve every award. They listen to the fans and make music with feeling.
But apparently, you’re not cool unless you rag on them. ‘You know how I know you’re cool? You hate Coldplay!’

Danny | 5/4/2009, 5:36 pm EST

coldplay is overrated, is still like them though

Coldplay is the best band around; not only for their deep lyrics and great tunes, but for the commitment of the guys to put everything they have into each performance. I admire their support of free trade, war child, and other worthy causes. Chris Martin is an incredible person and his music, wit and giving nature proves it. Sit down, all of you who are not fans, and really, I mean really listen to what they are saying. I am sure you will find something that reaches you because that is what Coldplay’s music does. It connects.

i love coldplay

don’t care about the plagiarism accusation. mainly because viva la vida and clocks is the most irritating song for me.

violet hill and lovers in japan is awesome though.
