  • BeyoncĂ©’s thriller Obsessed crushed the competition at movie theaters this weekend, raking in $28.5 million. According to EW, Obsessed more than doubled the receipts from the week’s Number Two film, 17 Again. Peter Travers, who live-Twittered about seeing the “awful” Obsessed, asked after the box office totals came in, “Are bad movies the new heroin?”
  • Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has been asked to mentor the remaining American Idol contestants for the upcoming Rock Week, he revealed on his Twitter this weekend. The casting has us thinking: Is Adam Lambert the perfect fit to fill Velvet Revolver’s vacant singer spot?
  • Def Leppard will play at this year’s CMT Music Awards on June 16th. The rockers are nominated for their Crossroads performance of “Photograph” with Taylor Swift, Blabbermouth writes. Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts and Swift will also perform.
  • DMX has booked time in Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, AllHipHop reports. The rapper was recently sentenced to a 90 days in prison due to drug charges. However, a recent violation during his sentence might prevent DMX from being released into Dr. Drew’s custody. UPDATE: DMX’s rep is denying that the rapper will participate in Celebrity Rehab, saying the reports that DMX will appear on the VH1 reality show was “false,” AllHipHop writes.

I can understand why Def Leppard and Slash want to be “relevant” to children and suburban housewives, but don’t you think that your ROCK following is more likely to buy your new CD (and your old ones)and go to your shows than my 8th grade math teacher and her 9 year old daughter who would watch Idol and the CMTs?

I mean Axl Rose and Steve Clark are rolling in theri graves (and Axl ain’t even dead)

Def Leppard appeared on Crossroads because Taylor Swift (and her Mom) is a fan and she chose them to colaborate with and they agreed. That is the whole point of the show Crossroads. A country artist gets to choose who they want to sing with no matter what genre they are from. What’s wrong with that? I feel like any exposure Def Leppard can get they should go for it! They will always be my favorite ROCK band and they deserve more respect than they are given as artists. Any time they appear on a show it seems like they are only allowed to play “Pour Some Sugar On Me” as if all they are is a sleezy rock band. They have so many really beautiful songs that deserve to be heard. The guys in Def Leppard are great songwriters and musicians as well. Yes, they’re amazing when they rock out but they can also do ballads and love songs like nobody’s business.
