As promised, Eminem appeared on his Sirius XM radio station this morning to answer questions regarding his new album Relapse, rappers he wants to work with and getting back into the acting game. Rap Radar has audio clips from the interview. While Slim Shady didn’t premiere any new tracks from his comeback LP, he did reveal more details about the May 19th release, including why we don’t know more about it. “We’re just extremely careful with our shit. I keep a CD with me, I’m the only one who usually has a CD,” Eminem said. “Maybe me and Dre… Other than that, nobody has it.”

Eminem also announced that the album’s next single will be “3AM,” and a video has already filmed in his native Detroit. The song has a darker tone than Relapse’s snarky first single “We Made You” and Em noted that “3AM” more closely mirrors the overall sound of the album. Dr. Dre produced the entire LP with the exception of one song, which was produced by Marshall Mathers himself.

“Dre made a lot of tracks, and I would get to pick from them and just go through them, and I picked the ones that challenged me rhythm-wise, I tried to experiment with a bunch of different flows,” Em said. There are no cameos outside of 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. Eminem also gave a progress report on Relapse 2, due out later in the year: “If that album’s not finished, it’s extremely closed to being finished.”

As for returning to acting, the 8 Mile star said, “We’re open to scripts and I’m definitely looking to get back into it soon.” He hinted that he has a cameo in a “big” film coming out this summer but wouldn’t elaborate. Eminem, who has reportedly battled with weight and health problems since 2004’s Encore, also revealed how he’s gotten back in shape: Running 17 miles a day. “I’ve been running a lot, taking care of myself. I’m at the point where I’m a little obsessive compulsive about running and the treadmill,” Em said.

Finally, responding to Lil Wayne’s offer to collaborate, Eminem said he hopes to work with Weezy but now isn’t the time. “There hasn’t necessarily really been a time for me to really get out there and do collaborations and shit lately because I’ve been locked down in the studio. But I’m hoping for whatever because there are a lot of artists in the game that I respect right now,” Eminem said. “Hip-hop will be in a great place because I am back.”

Anonymous | 4/23/2009, 6:10 pm EST

Rap is not music.

unfinished_narrative | 4/23/2009, 7:18 pm EST

Shut the fuck up, “stupid Feminem”.

Eminem is the best rapper in history. His new single, “3 A.M.”, is vintage Slim Shady. Eminem is back and I can’t wait for Relapse. I’m checking the Wikipedia page and Eminem.com upwards of 30 times a day each. I’m a little obsessed!

M&M | 4/23/2009, 7:38 pm EST

A lot of people don’t like Em cuz he says it likes it is and doesn’t hold anything back and most people can’t listen passed the lyrics. They just get stuck on “fuck” and “shit”. When really, Eminem is a musical genius. He doesn’t get a lot of respect for it, but he is very talanted, and i really enjoy listening to his shit. I’m glad he’s back.

StrummerJones | 4/23/2009, 7:44 pm EST

Hey look! Someone who thinks they have a good taste in music and puts others down by saying that rap is terrible! What are you, a seventh grader? You’ll learn, you silly little bitch.

Anonymous | 4/23/2009, 8:51 pm EST

I didn’t say rap is terrible. I just said it’s not music.

It’s not.

StrummerJones | 4/23/2009, 11:07 pm EST

If Sister Ray gets to be music, so does rap.

Anonymous | 4/24/2009, 7:47 am EST

Don’t know any ‘Sister Ray’ other than a song by Velvet Underground, and that most definitely IS music.

TubbyChubbs | 4/24/2009, 10:00 am EST

Em is the best!! all of his music is legendary from his old raps when he first started out to his new shit he just relesed! I fuckin glad hes back and cant wait to hear more!! All of you critics and haters of the rap music can SHOVE IT! Listin to it once and awhile and listen to the lyrics. Dont get stuck on the “fuck” and “shit” listen to the rest!! It tells a story and its really good music!!

Schultz | 4/24/2009, 10:03 am EST

For as much as this guy makes for doing what he does, you would think he could pose for a picture that doesn’t look like he has just been arrested. He ain’t that hard.

StrummerJones | 4/24/2009, 12:07 pm EST

“Don’t know any ‘Sister Ray’ other than a song by Velvet Underground, and that most definitely IS music.”

The Velvets are one of my favorite bands. I’m referring to the ridiculous scratching noise that consists of the seventeen minute song. It’s fantastic. It’s music. It’s noise and there’s barely a melody to it, but it’s music in the loose sense of the word.

Rap is most certainly music.

Anonymous | 4/24/2009, 12:20 pm EST

I don’t know about only him and Dre having a cd, as “3AM” is already up and running rampant throughout YouTube…still excited though; a definite step-foward from Encore from what I’ve heard so far…

Lil Ellis | 4/24/2009, 2:48 pm EST

i used to love him.. honestly i missed him.. his music was the greatest for the most part every song was incredible with the exception of a few stupid ones here n there but some of those were at least fun to listen to… BUT.. the new songs he just released make me want to puke… there terrible and totally not what i expected.. the stupid accent and terribly graphic and unnecessarily gross and degrading lyrics with no story or meaning make plainly and simply terrible songs… his music used to mean something it used to be deep and have amazing meaning now its just a mess… i wish he would just get saved and encounter Jesus Christ like i did with his skill i bet the lord could use him for to change sooo many lives…

booger | 5/12/2009, 5:14 am EST

Hip-Hop Head Since '84 | 5/13/2009, 8:47 am EST

The production on this album was incredibly subpar. Lyrically, it’s Eminem & if you expected anything different from his usual off the wall wordplay then you’ve got things misconstrued. I’m sure it will receive praise from the die hard fans, but ultimately Relapse falls way short of being a good album.

JP909 | 5/21/2009, 8:10 pm EST

What the FU$K happened to his voice?? Soundin all whinny and shhh!! I know he’d do that from time to time back in the day but the whole album.?. REALLY? garbage! How do you have DRE production throughout and F that up!?! Dre shoulda told his ass in the studio to quit pluggin his nose, soundin all gay, and just bust!! Lyrics will always be there but who can hear them with that voice? sorry EM… bust the album again and unplug your nose!!! Stop tryin to be a celeb and do one for hip-hop

AnHero | 5/26/2009, 2:45 pm EST

Speaking from a heroin addicts point of view, this album speaks to me in so many ways its kind of scary, however it just goes to show how similar addiction is across the board… the devil is still speaking to me as well

FuriousPsych | 5/28/2009, 6:40 pm EST

I liked the album as much as the rest. I never know how much I really like an album until a week or two of listening. Sounds good lyrically, beats aren’t top-notch Dre but most bang.

christ | 6/1/2009, 3:42 pm EST

The new album is sick , if you dont like it at first you will , give it time , It kinda like heroin that way might make u sick at first but then it just feels so good

Anonymous | 6/14/2009, 7:49 am EST

wow alot of these comments make me laugh, and im sure if he saw all of these little whinny comments im sure he would to. Eminem hides his smile for a reason, this album does have a meaning behind it and every song. eminem takes a seed of truth in his life and stretches it to it limits. whether you like him or not you should really respect him for what he has been through and the talent he has he has worked hard for it and if you actually look into it theres is alot that goes into his music and what he does. I do not know him personally i just wish people would take a step back so give him some credit and not judge because you know what anyone who has been through what he has or even similar situations could relate to why he is or does the things he does. well thats my 2 cents.

I used to feel the same but read the wikipedia page on relapse and you will look at it in a different light. The ’stupid’ voice is his ‘alter ego’ slim shady and if you didnt know that then you are no eminem fan. Slim Shady has existed since day one. Relapse is hard to get into but commenting that there is no meaning is simply bullshit. This album has 10x more meaning than any of his others ! Its the return of his slim shady baby!

Just listen to it properly, i mean really listen to the album and the lyrics and you will see it depicts his four year struggle with drugs, tragedies and obsession. He is rapping thoughts that he had when drugged up. His dark and twisted mind at the time of his relapse.

His flow is better than ever, ideas are better, attitude is better, rhymes are better and Dre is better than ever…

Great Album. I love an album that makes you think and i found this one particularly intriguing. He has expressed his recent dark times perfectly and i feel it means only better things for the future. Now he has produced his relapse into an album, i feel it has helped him get to grips with things and will now help him move past it.

I believe we will be seeing a lot more of Eminem (instead of slim shady) very soon which is exciting!

I AM KING | 9/24/2009, 3:50 pm EST

some people get “Relapse” and others just simply wont. All the bitching about lyrics and sound, could you honestly be anymore sheltered and naive? Maybe you’d understand if knew a thing or two about waking up to 200 milligrams just so you dont trow up your guts and you fight that cold barreled steel in your mouth cause you just want 5 seconds of peace. Em is simply a reflection of the sick and hurting. If you dont get it, we dont give a fuck cause you’ll never know these struggles.
