• Queen will release the rare Queen’s First EP on CD for the first time in America on April 18th to celebrate Record Store Day. The EP, culled from the band’s first four singles, will be released on vinyl exclusively in the U.K. The band will also be the subject of SingStar Queen for PlayStation 3. • American Idol Season Three champ Fantasia Barrino will soon be the focus of a VH1 reality series, expected to air early 2010. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series “will chronicle Fantasia’s life as a recording artist and young single mother.”
• Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal will tour together for the first time this summer. The 30-date BonTaj Roulet will kick off August 6th in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Each concert will feature both artists playing a full set solo before coming together for a jam session to close the show.
• Songwriter/actor Paul Williams has been elected president and chairman of ASCAP following the departure of Marilyn Bergman. In addition to being in the Songwriters Hall of Fame and winning an Oscar for A Star is Born’s “Evergreen,” Williams made an awesome cameo as the apathetic emergency room doctor in The Rules of Attraction.
