When Rolling Stone visited Caleb, Jared, Matthew and Nathan Followill at their Tennessee homes, we learned a bit about how Kings of Leon like to live (watch our video tours, above). But Austin Scaggs got the real dirt while traveling with the Southern rockers for his cover story in the new issue — and he’s sharing his new knowledge with you now. Find out the Kings’ real names, who’s obsessed with Chris Farley, how to clear a room with jalapeños and Nathan’s favorite sexual position right here:

Since when is KOL “Rock’s Hottest Band”?

That’s just RS trying to justify their choice of cover.

Pat Hundley | 4/17/2009, 1:29 pm EST

Fuck off. Kings of Leon are the best band in Pop Rock right now. Face it.

Mike | 4/17/2009, 1:42 pm EST

I agree totally with the previous comment. They just announed a headline date at Red Rocks and I was a bit surprised. Hottest? Maybe. But it’d say more about the current state of the industry than anything else.

I’ve really wanted to like KOL, bought their first CD, saw them at ACL in 2006 and was … underwhelmed. They have a handful of tracks I like.

Yes, there are far, FAR worse bands out there but there are more than a few better.

This band isn’t really anything special. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad at all. They’re just not that good. This attention is more about what the music industry is like now than the ban’s actual talent. Just like Coldplay. Commercially acceptable bands that are average or modestly above average get treated like they’re the best thing in the world just because there really isn’t anything better out there that can get played on the radio.

John | 4/17/2009, 3:10 pm EST

Fuck Yeah! KOL, the best mother fucking band in the world! They’re true rock stars, none of this panzy bullshit on the mainstream.

Jenny | 4/17/2009, 3:57 pm EST

I’ve never been disappointed with a KOL show in the past 5 years. Amazing musicians, great song writers, and a breath of fresh air among hot boxed pop music.

I like KOL. There’s just so much good music out there right now and I want to learn more about the less known guys. Just heard a guy recently at SXSW and couldn’t BELIEVE I’d never heard him before. Shawn Pander – freakin talented. A little more relaxed…

rga121 | 4/18/2009, 1:10 am EST

fuck off, you all have no taste in music. they are awesome,.

Preston | 4/18/2009, 7:35 am EST

Well I just bought the CD and I am a fan of all music. I mean my favorite band is Pantera. I listen to EVERYTHING from Pantera to Jack Johnson to Norah Jones to NILE. I love all Music and The Kings Of Leon are a good fucking band. You can hear what they put into it and what comes out is pure love of music. “Good Fucking Band” You really don’t see to many of them coming around now a days

lotta | 4/18/2009, 10:49 am EST

Best Band Around !!!
Can’t wait to see them this summer =)

P.s Can you buy this magazine in the uk ???

Buckethead | 4/18/2009, 1:28 pm EST

It’s about time that a deserving bands such as KOL are being allowed to shine in the spotlight. Have seen them several times in concert and over the past couple of years and they have yet to dissapoint. One can only hope that this is the begining to the end of the corporate rock sludge that has been plaguing our airwaves over the past 10-15 years…

justwon | 4/21/2009, 5:18 pm EST

funny, you can tell who is in a band and jealous just by the comments

I wish the Walkmen, their opening act, would get just some of the attention that KOL is getting. Their music blows me away.

anthony | 5/28/2009, 5:46 am EST

well, they’re no Beatles, no Kinks, no Ramones, they’re no Nirvana… they’re more along the lines of The Clash or Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains when it comes to their timing… I mean this in the sense that, although their sound isn’t revolutionizing the industry or pioneering any kind of new sound or new guard in music, they’re this incredible band that, after years of being one of the mostly highly-acclaimed bands on the indy scene, happened to put out the RIGHT music at the RIGHT time, and EXPLODED into the mainstream before even THEY knew what hit ‘em! lol… seems like the days when they were packing small-dives across the country wasn’t that long ago…wait a minute, IT WASN’T!…lol… i’m completely stoked and amazed at how HUGE they’re getting lately… one can only hope their success doesn’t taint the quality of the amazing music that BROUGHT them to the dance…

strulli | 6/17/2009, 7:23 am EST

there just a band! i realy dont understand why there so populair! oke they make good music but for me there just a fase for yong girls and little boy’s.

Roger Cortez | 8/14/2009, 9:07 pm EST

The KOL can go **** themselves. I don’t care what they do, nor will I ever buy another of their albums again. They put on a piss poor show in Edmonton and Caleb was a biug baby whining about his stage crew being sub par and throwing temper tantrums and walking off the stage. Screw this idiot and his band. They aren’t anywhere near ‘Rock’s hottest Band’, just another soon to be bargain bin bunch of ass monkeys..
