I don’t know anything about Kanye except how to pronounce his name, like when the kids said “Puff Daddy?” when he entered the room – that’s how alot of people I know would react. I thought the show was funny, and they didn’t take it as far as Jennifer Lopez, Rosie O’Donnell, Paris Hilton, or Oprah. I think everyone knows the creators of South Park aren’t the people you ever want to piss off. And it’s better to just laugh it off like Kanye is going to, than to try and sue them – they’ll just keep your character around to destroy you. Don’t underestimate the mass of South Park supporters, esp. after the Family Guy episode aired.

I totally agree with Kevin the Robot that the Jonas Brothers episode was WAY funnier than this one, as I laughed myself to tears watching Mickey Mouse beat the crap out of Joe Jonas, while I barely got past a smile watching this new episode, although I think Kanye makes himself a perfect target for spoofs like this. So I’m quite shocked that not only he took it so well, but he actually realized what an arrogant a-hole and douche bag he is. If this really does inspire him to become humble, then Matt & Trey don’t deserve an Emmy, they deserve a Nobel Peace Prize. Now I hope their next target will be Axl Rose, and I hope they are merciless on him. Then hopefully it might inspire him to call Slash & the old boys and get the REAL Guns ‘N’ Roses back together. I don’t like or get his music at all. It’s not surprising or relevant to me that it’s hugely popular though. What I really don’t get is why he is critically acclaimed. Have critics completely given up on music? In any other generation, his music would be ignored or laughed at. It’s completely uninspired crap.

The blog posts misses the most important part of the episode – Kanye isn’t talented. He’s good at taking other people’s songs and making a version that kids want to buy. He’s not a talented rapper or singer – he just applies a shitty digital effect to cover up his monotone vocals.

It’s good to see South Park getting some recognition for this episode. They have had some excellent episodes that have taken others to task (such as Oprah, Al Gore and Scientologists) that have been relatively ignored in the mainstream media.

I really never gave him a second thought on his rise because he wasn’t my type of musician, but once I picked up Graduation and saw him in concert last summer on a whim to see what the fuss was about, I see no reason to feel negative about him. He’s genuine, for better or worse, and that’s what I like in musicians.

West is not a “musical genius.” That was the point of the spoof. He goes around telling everyone how talented he is. If he’s that talented, his “talent” would speak for itself.

First of all, this isn’t the first time he’s been self critical. He’s talked about himself like that for YEARS. For every egotistical comment he made, he’s made an equally self-critical one. Do some research or don’t even post.

Seriously, I can’t believe people actually think that South Park has ‘toppled his ego’ and are celebrating some sort of petty victory. I’m not trying to defend Kanye West, but you’re taking it WAY out of proportion here.

I dunno, Kanye West raises a valid point when he says that he inflated his ego to try to help fuel people’s enthusiasm about his rap career. You have to understand, he began as a producer, and everyone was telling him that he couldn’t make it on his own without other artists to template his work. The fact that he’s laughing at himself indicates that he is, genuinely, a decent guy. In the world of hip hop and rap, it’s tough to make it without actively trying to convince shallow people like music execs that you’re the absolute shit. I think people should lay off him and get a little bit of the bigger picture.

Kanye does have an out of control ego but I love his music. Kanye can be a huge jackass but he makes great music and I often love his bravado. His overly inflated ego is sometimes why I love him. South Park is awesome but keep doing your thing Kanye.

SP is definitely one of my favorites shows ever but it we be ridiculousness to say that Trey and Matt don’t have over-inflated egos. They think that they are the voice of authority on everything.
