Britney Spears Delays Vancouver Concert Due to Marijuana Smoke

4/9/09, 9:30 am EST

Britney Spears stopped performing halfway through her concert at the GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, after smoky conditions and ventilation problems forced the singer and her dancers to leave the stage for more than 30 minutes, the Vancouver Sun writes in their concert review. After performing a few songs, Spears and her dancers vanished for no reason, leaving the impatient crowd to chant and do the wave in complete darkness. (Check out photos of Britney’s Circus show.)

After about 20 minutes, a voice came over the loudspeaker to tell concertgoers that smoking marijuana and cigarettes is illegal at GM Place. “It’s become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears. The show will resume as soon as the air around the stage is clear,” the announcement said. After performing the final encore, Spears walked offstage with the words, “Thanks Vancouver. You were wonderful. Drive safe. Don’t smoke weed! Rock out with your cocks out!” Yes, this really happened (watch the video above).

Sources tell Perez Hilton that throngs of people smoking marijuana in the crowd were the cause of the delay: “We were concerned for the lighting guys and everyone else working on the show. If one of those guys up above got dizzy or sick from all that marijuana smoke… It wouldn’t have been pretty.” Spears’ camp issued a statement after the concert, saying, “We want to apologize to all the fans who attended our Vancouver show tonight for the brief pause in Britney’s set. Crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue.” Let us remind you this was a Britney Spears concert, not a Phish show — did you guys really need a doobie to get through “Toxic”?

Ok, i can understand smoking pot at a Pink Floyd concert.

But who the hell is smoking pot at a Britney Spears show? Seriously.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 9:49 am EST

It’s Vancouver

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 10:05 am EST

It’s Vancouver… every concert has a cloud of pot smoke over it… what a friggin’ diva.

sys admin | 4/9/2009, 10:10 am EST

What a shame. It looked as though she was making progress. There’s no way that the European tour will happen now, they’d never get insurance.

In any case, there’s going to be a lawsuit demanding refunds.

Zach91 | 4/9/2009, 10:15 am EST

you gotta be kidding me. Ive been to Def Leppard and Van Halen. What do you think it was like there? She has got to be the most idiotic person in the world. Also people who smoke pot prolly have better things to do than go to a Brittany Spears concert. Come on people.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 10:18 am EST

What some people don’t realize is that young kids smoke pot on a regular basis now. Yes, including B.S. fans. It’s no longer for a “rock” event. 21st century peeps

Julie | 4/9/2009, 10:22 am EST

It wrecked the flow of the night. The crowd had already waited long enough and finally when it started only to be made wait again for over 30 mins. LAME. Smokers should be fined and kicked out of the concert.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 10:25 am EST

Here’s an unexpected twist.

Reporters had interviewed a few atendees. Women in their late 20s or so stated that the front row ticket holders were not as pumped as one would expect with front row tix. Hm, has B.S. lost her touch?

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 10:36 am EST

GM Place – poor ventilation – get real – The Greatful Dead could have been playing and the air would have been cleaner than L.A. -lame excuse – especially for a smoking party girl like Brit…

Disapointed | 4/9/2009, 10:40 am EST

I was there, not smoky, just a bunch of excuses for her failure. People who paid a lot of money should get a refund. The Pussy Cat Dolls were awesome and would have preferred to watch them all night. Britanny should open for them!

Who Knows? | 4/9/2009, 10:41 am EST

I was listening to the Beat this morning, rumor has it that Britney Spears panty hoes ripped and she had a diva fit and wouldn’t go back on the show. Source: backstage crew.

Pot my ass. Another incident where pot is being devil-ized. And i agree with the other comments, people don’t smoke pot at a BS concert!

anon | 4/9/2009, 10:44 am EST

“But who the hell is smoking pot at a Britney Spears show? Seriously.”

Probably guys who were forced by their gfs to go with them.

We’d watched Nickelback concert w/ my husband and I tell you there’s a bunch of drunk “cougars” near us and hell they smoked pot! They were all stinky…just like their faces!

Zach91 | 4/9/2009, 11:00 am EST

oheneba:
Why do you like Brittany?
Is it for her monotone?
For her “Awesome” dance moves?
Or her very deep lyrics?
You gotta let me know.

Swingline | 4/9/2009, 11:00 am EST

Just gonna throw a theory out there and see if it makes sense. You’re dealing with an unstable, and arguably weak-minded individual who could be a Mai-Tai away from relapse.

Walking into a room with that aromatic and potent B.C. hooch could be all she needed to fall off the wagon once again.

Did they mean the crew was “ill like sick” or did they breathe in and decide it was “time to get ill”?

jeanette | 4/9/2009, 11:02 am EST

why should people who don’t smoke weed or anything have to be subjuct to it? for some the smell of weed is nausating and there were kids their people! Hello! Get a clue don’t be a sheep. Be your own person. I think Britney did the right thing and the people smokin should have went to jail.

anonymous | 4/9/2009, 11:09 am EST

Only those needing to suck on pacifiers to the detriment of those around them are going to be making negative remarks here. All of us who don’t like being subjected to second hand smoke are as much “divas” as Britney and thank her sincerely for looking out for our best interests. We paid for tickets to listen in a smoke free environment! Thanks Britney

Swingline | 4/9/2009, 11:17 am EST

If you’re going to a concert, you’re openly accepting the notion that you’re entering a building with people who want to potentially cut loose.

This isn’t a Wiggles concert, the woman is prancing around in stripper gear. So if that’s what these people are bringing their kids to, they’re either completely ignorant or know and don’t care.

Not expecting a place like that to smoke it up like a Cypress Hill concert, but at the same time you’re asking for standards and decency when the main act is pawing herself in half of a cop suit.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 11:23 am EST

Again… it’s VANCOUVER, BC! It’s to be expected!

How many times has she been photographed holding one of her kids with a smoke hanging out of her mouth. It’s all BS and she was just having an episode of irritable bowel syndrome!

craig f | 4/9/2009, 11:23 am EST

hey jeanette, smoke a little weed and loosen up a bit.

tina | 4/9/2009, 11:27 am EST

This is a bit of a dramatic representation. We waited for 25-30 minutes tops, and doing the wave in the dark (with cell phones!) was actually kind of hilarious. I’ve been to many concerts at that venue, and this one was by far the least smoky. Let’s all settle down; what did we expect from our favorite queen of neurosis?

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 11:34 am EST

Panty ‘hoes’?
Yeah, and ‘Who knows’ probably believes marijuana doesn’t affect your judgement. With all the narcotics fueled shootings Vancouver has become famous for as well as an overmedicated East side, there are still people that can’t see the forest for the weeds. Wake up Vancouver. Britney’s not the sick one here.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 11:38 am EST

yes, i’d def need a doobie to get thru Toxic…

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 11:46 am EST

BS she smokes so shouldn’t care about second-hand smoke

and she doesn’t actually sing so it doesn’t matter if the smoke fucks her voice up..her mic is off

also apology on her site and not live?

overall DIVA attention-seeker

Tom | 4/9/2009, 11:53 am EST

i’d have to be doing more than smoking weed to make it through her show. But seriously, what kind of a lame ass crew can’t handle a little weed? it’s a concert, you clowns..

But i do question it – who is smoking weed at a Britney show? aren’t they all like 12 years old? too funny…

BC Bud | 4/9/2009, 11:54 am EST

Smoking a J in Vancouver is like drinking bottled water.

Stacey | 4/9/2009, 11:55 am EST

If you’ve seen the NUMEROUS videos of the concert last night you would see that it was NOT smoky in there- stop bashing Vancouver!! we do not all smoke pot!! Britneys a lazy drugged up over-pampered celebrity who doesn’t deserve stardom or the trappings that go with it. stop lip-syncing!!!

Los | 4/9/2009, 11:56 am EST

I’m with Swingline on this one, as that is the same thought that came to my mind as I was reading this article. You can’t deny that Spears is recovering like crazy right now and can’t deal with the fumage.

yes you do need it | 4/9/2009, 11:56 am EST

because she is horrible. also she is in b.c. wtf is her problem? try that in amsterdam (they probably couldnt sell tickets)

Nicole | 4/9/2009, 11:56 am EST

Hell yeah I’d need a doobie to get through toxic. Probably six actually.

Screw your last line, I’d have such a body high just from seeing Phish that I wouldn’t need drugs. Can’t say the same for this talentless slob.

Todd | 4/9/2009, 12:01 pm EST

Swingline you really said it best. Please – to those placing this trainwreck on some sort of moral pedestal, you’ve got your own morals screwed up. Let’s be careful of those “kids” there – yeah, the kids who are being subjected to essentially a rated R show by their parents. C’mon. Weed is what these kids will need, LOL.

“If you’re going to a concert, you’re openly accepting the notion that you’re entering a building with people who want to potentially cut loose.

This isn’t a Wiggles concert, the woman is prancing around in stripper gear. So if that’s what these people are bringing their kids to, they’re either completely ignorant or know and don’t care.”

Kevin the Robot | 4/9/2009, 12:03 pm EST

Someone must have come out at the end of the show and gave her a functioning microphone so she could say goodnight.

Mr. Miner | 4/9/2009, 12:09 pm EST

Damn RIGHT its not a PHISH show! I would probably need a whole bunch of PCP and Ketamine to get through ‘toxic’, maybe some
2-CB and crack too…

Phish is the greatest touring act of all time, this piece of trash should jump off the nearest cliff.

Nicole | 4/9/2009, 12:12 pm EST

Thank you, Mr. Miner ;)

God | 4/9/2009, 12:21 pm EST

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 12:22 pm EST

smoking at a britney spears show is a waste of weed!

DogLog | 4/9/2009, 12:23 pm EST

Well said Mr Miner….

Horrible trash that she is….Phish is the greatest of all time, and that is kang’firmed..

dude | 4/9/2009, 12:24 pm EST

every concert ive been to has alot of pot smoke so i dont know why this broad is making a big deal out of it. and if the lighting guys have been doin that job for a while its nothing new to them. its just pot people. its not like brittnys never smoked it.

Are You Kidding Me | 4/9/2009, 12:42 pm EST

Firstly, who smokes weed at a Britney Spears concert? Secondly, is Britney afraid that her voice won’t be 100% for all the lip synching she’s doing?

BCer | 4/9/2009, 12:44 pm EST

jeanette:

Your a tool, do you know what a sheep even is? Your the fucken sheep in bringing your little ones to a fucken BRITNEY SPEARS CONCERT!!! hah

Go to Jail for smoking weed? HAH what is this America? YOU DONT GO TO JAIL HERE, honestly, i really hope your an out of towner cause you are a fucken idiot.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 12:49 pm EST

Britney can’t handle good weed. She tried it once when she was drunk and it took her over the edge. Unfortunately, since then she has an irrational hate/fear of marijuana and cannot be persuaded otherwise.

Steve | 4/9/2009, 12:50 pm EST

This idiot has exposed us to her crappy music and crotch-shots and she can’t handle a little bit of weed in the air. Keep walking Brit. Keep walking.

BCer | 4/9/2009, 12:55 pm EST

I still cant believe the cry babies, people defending how bad ‘Pot smoke’ is, specially since there are young ones, but like someone said before me, this is the fucken train wreck of Britney Spears, look at the shit shes done this past few years, do you really think she is a good role model?

Then the last thing she says;
“Thanks Vancouver. You were wonderful. Drive safe. Don’t smoke weed! Rock out with your cocks out!”

What is she a fucken staff SGT, in the military now?

Tiffany | 4/9/2009, 1:00 pm EST

I was there. I didn’t see or smell anyone smoking and plus that venue is so big that it would take way more than just a few cigarettes to create that amount of smoke. It was her smoke machines creating the smoke. I don’t believe their reasoning for a second.

Tiffany | 4/9/2009, 1:06 pm EST

And the rumors will start spinning now lol… As apparently that is probably not the real reason why the show stopped.

David | 4/9/2009, 1:11 pm EST

Um, for the record Rolling Stone, yes, I DO need at least a doobie to get through a “live” performance of Toxic. I couldn’t imagine having to suffer while enduring that crap sober! Weed makes ALL music better, even Britney!

Swingline | 4/9/2009, 1:19 pm EST

In relation to the kids subject that’s come up, ask yourself this:

If a top line kids act (actual people, not Barney) had been exposed doing as much shit as she has in the last couple of years, would you still take your child to see them?

Maybe she remembered that “Rock out with your cocks out” line from an old Mickey Mouse club episode…

Fairness | 4/9/2009, 1:31 pm EST

I agree she’s lost it. With what Britney has exposed us and herself to over the past few years (oh and exposed her CHILDREN TO!) she has the nerve to tell audiences how to behave and what NOT to do? Give me a break. This girl needs to be a lady and GROW UP! Too bad she didn’t have a good role model in her life and now she’s trying to be one????? I’m soooo glad she bombed out and didn’t rock out, she’s a Madonna Wanna Be but sorry she’s done.over and out.

Pssh | 4/9/2009, 1:35 pm EST

Marijuana is everywhere, where was you brought up?

The Hater | 4/9/2009, 1:38 pm EST

This is an enormous STADIUM!! A STADIUM!

How much freaking weed smoke could there have possibly been? I don’t buy it.

BC Gal | 4/9/2009, 1:38 pm EST

“Drive Safe Britney” don’t smoke with your kids in the car and buckle up now , ya hear? Oh and don’t party with your C*c* out, you might expose your undies! You couldn’t pay me enough to go see Britney, I have two young teens in the house, they hated her music, still do and they are into artists not fakes. It is so sad to watch her really sad.

Swingline | 4/9/2009, 1:43 pm EST

“Don’t smoke weed, but help me in bringing the word “Cock” into the lives of many young teenage girls. Oops, my vagina slipped out of my police outfit.”

get a life | 4/9/2009, 1:44 pm EST

should we be making such nasty comments about metallica, some of you will say they are a great band, but by whose standards? yours???? britney is a great act, given last night was a shit house thing to do, but bagging her – she must have a fan base she has sold over 37 million records thats pretty big and made over 370 million in album sales alone, what have you fuckers sold?

BC Dude | 4/9/2009, 1:47 pm EST

First I was there last night and if smoke were a concern it wasn’t anywhere close to me. The stop the show mentality is going against the performers creed, “the show must go on!”. Yes it was a Britttney Spears show but smoking reefers at concerts is a tradition that even Brittney would be aware of. She actualy was doing not bad, for the train wreck of a person that her personal life seems to be, but the stopage was a total buzz kill and the excuse even more of a piss off. If morality of smoking pot at a show was justification for the iteruption then what do her closing comments warrent….refund…????

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 1:52 pm EST

To ‘The Hater’

Actually, GM Place is a hockey arena. NOT a stadium.

There’s a big difference.

RICARDO | 4/9/2009, 2:02 pm EST

All BULLSHIT!, I was there… the worst concert I have ever seen.
Pot or not… her show sucks.. thank god for the PCD and the circus around her!

Chris J | 4/9/2009, 2:07 pm EST

I can’t believe how many of these posts are so wrong. For the first time ever I have to agree with Brit on an issue of right V wrong.

The arrogance of weed smokers that they can just light up at a concert is symptomatic of a self absorbed West Coast lifestyle.

Concerts at this venue are getting worse for second hand smoke and drunken behavior. It is clear that the security staff have abdicated responsibility and just will not enforce the rules. I spoke with several people who attended the event and their enjoyment was seriously reduced by the smoking and drinking.

If you wanna smoke, go ahead. But not in an enclosed space where your actions ruin the enjoyment of others.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 2:08 pm EST

I was also there…it wasnt smokey in there until she used a smoke machine in her act.

anyone whos been to gm place knows it would take sooooo many people smoking to cause problems. it was fine.

lil wayne and his dancers did fine amongst the smoke a few months ago haha….

Anonymous2 | 4/9/2009, 2:10 pm EST

I was there and it wasn’t smokey at all. GM Place is huge, everyone it the arena would’ve had to been smoking for it to be a big issue and that was not the case…not everyone in Vancouver smokes pot! It was still a fun show!

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 2:19 pm EST

It has been said by a backup dancer involved in the concert that she was just throwing a fit about a ripped panty hose. And they’re using the smoke as a formal reason.

Josh | 4/9/2009, 2:25 pm EST

Assuming what she said was actually true, I can understand her leaving the stage with pot smoke in the air.

No one so far has addressed her legal situation.

The divorce judge won’t care HOW the pot got in her bloodstream if/when she fails a drug test. K-Fed will get the kids. And remember her legal issues with car wrecks, drivers’ license etc. were essentially shelved pending her good behavior. A dirty drug test would bring that all down on her again.

All this being said… if you know that your life could be derailed by a positive drug test, ya better keep yr ass out of Vancouver, BC!!! That Canadian snowboarder who lost his Olympic medal can tell you all about it…

Clamhorn | 4/9/2009, 2:33 pm EST

I have a hard time believing that all the 13 year old girls that comprise her audience (who else would go to this show?) created an abundance of anything except annoying screams.

reality | 4/9/2009, 2:44 pm EST

This is what you get for going to a Britney Spears concert! Seriously if you like her music you must have the IG of a first grader. Actually what she does is not “music” it is crap. People actually take their kids to this. Good parenting!

anonymous # 2 | 4/9/2009, 2:46 pm EST

I completely understand needing to stop because of the smoke, especially pot. Can’t really dance, or in a high enviroment continue to work, and not be affected. But….From people I know who were there,,,it def. shortened the show. I know I WILL NOT REPEAT NOT BE GOING TO the TACOMA Show tonight. If they can’t even give people a 20 dollar gift cert. or a freaking cookie for all the innocent people who were not smoking and did NOT get a complete show. Then they won’t be getting as much attendance. From me or 30 other people…and the movement to boycott will continue untill they do more than just appolgize. That’s just fair…no? :P lol

Helnooo | 4/9/2009, 2:50 pm EST

Some one would have to give me a truck full for me to go see her, but my opinion means nothing when I don’t like her kind of music.

Joe Puma | 4/9/2009, 2:50 pm EST

What ,was this their first time putting on a show?I’m not buying the weed smoke being the reason for a delay(usually a concert is delayed by the performers own smoke, waiting for the joint to go out).I don’t want to bash Britney too much here, but her lectures on pot smoking would have more weight if she wasn’t known to drive around with her baby in her lap instead of in a safe child seat, among other bad decisions she’s made regarding her own children.Keep healing thy self Britney ,spare us the sermons.

If you like Britney | 4/9/2009, 2:55 pm EST

do yourself a favor and buy a the computer software “Garage Band”. You can make your music sound even better than hers. This is what the future of our country listens to, how pathetic. Our country is going to end up in shambles because of people like this. How can parents really expose their kids to this? Oh I know because they themselves are stupid dirty sluts too!

To "Josh" | 4/9/2009, 2:58 pm EST

Pot will NOT show up on a drug test when it is second hand. Quit making excuses for a total waste of space.

JB | 4/9/2009, 3:03 pm EST

Ok… I hate Britney Spears as much as most people who have written on here. That is not the point. She is so messed up herself (apparently getting better) she smokes in her car with her young kids, flashes her cooch to everyone, struts around like a cheap stripper and parents still think it is fine to take their kids to see her? Awesome role model. Apart from all that Britney hating. Why on earth does everyone seem to think that smoking pot is ok in Vancouver? As much as you like to hide behind your bullshit, weed is still illegal. If you want to smoke it, go ahead, just not in my face. If i decided that shooting heroin was going to be my thing, would you accept me shooting up next to you at a concert?

Sleazy P Martini | 4/9/2009, 3:27 pm EST

Who does she think she is? A third world dictator in that getup? There was no weed being smoked there , it’s all made up because of her ripped pantyhoes. Who smokes weed at a BS concert?

Advice from some one like her should be questioned as she is no angel. Maybe people should smoke pot.

britneys talent | 4/9/2009, 3:47 pm EST

hello britney i dont think we have ever met…

Swingline | 4/9/2009, 3:48 pm EST

The arrogance of somebody to pay money to go into a concert filled with thousands and expect everyone else to conform to their own wishes is completely delusional.

Isn’t that as self-absorbed as the person lighting up?

Buying a concert ticket is a formal agreement to be one of many for that moment in time. You may not like the actions of the people around you, but they paid the money just the same.

Anon | 4/9/2009, 3:52 pm EST

I need multiple doobies to get through toxic…

Kim | 4/9/2009, 4:02 pm EST

Give me a break..I think that Britney is full of shit. PERIOD. I mean give me a break. Oh, the pot smoke too much for this wanna be princess..FUCK THAT..dont go away mad Britney..just go away. Spoiled brat..

get a grip | 4/9/2009, 4:14 pm EST

britney shouldnt be the one to talk. she is the epitomy of what is bad in this industry. i cant blame everyone for lighting up, its probably the only way to get through the terrible dancing and off key attempt at singing over her own tracks…

Mary | 4/9/2009, 4:14 pm EST

This is actually hilarious! Britney is likely on drugs anyway, so why all the fuss? Ok, I digress.

When people spend their hard earned money on overpriced tickets, let them light up and enjoy. Seeing a concert and live music is one of the last escapes left where a mass of people can close their eyes and enjoy music and let go. Its a communal celebration of unity through the arts. Let people enjoy it. Shame on you Britney.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 4:17 pm EST

I wonder how many youngsters in the audience asked thier parents “Mommy, what is weed?” Britney just opened the door.

hahahah | 4/9/2009, 4:24 pm EST

really?
that makes me want to follow her shows and smoke so much weed that she can never play again on stage…
ah what a great world that would be.

people who spend $ on her | 4/9/2009, 4:52 pm EST

are matieralistic, no soul having, egotastic, delusional whores. The fact that parents let their kids go to this stuff is unbelievable. I would rather have my kid smoke weed then see this crap.

Vancouver | 4/9/2009, 4:54 pm EST

I was at the concert last night. The Pussycat Dolls and Britney’s performers were great. She put no effort in at all. If she was going to lip synch then she should have danced full out instead of marking. Either dance or Sing and do it!

I find it hard to believe she left because of smoking. The air was fresher than any other concert I’ve been too. GM Place is huge. She had her own smoke show on the stage. Even if this was the true reason for her absence they should have been more polite about it. These young people paid alot of money for their tickets. To make us sit in the dark for over half an hour was brutal. No music, no live person explaining the situation or making light of it. People were mad, I saw people walk out and did not come back.

People were pumped up for the first 3 songs, when she finally came back people could care less. Everyone around us sat in their seats.

I too heard the story of the pantyhose. Apparently a crew member enlightened some people on the sky train. Britney apparently pulled a Diva fit and nothing her Wardrobe dept. did for her was good enough.

Rock out with your Cocks out? Way too appreciate your fans Brit!

pebble | 4/9/2009, 5:04 pm EST

i was there near the top. Me and people around me could smell something weird. A few said it smelt like weed. i could smell it but it wasnt that bad first until arount the song radar. so people saying you couldent smell anyting is rubbish

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 5:05 pm EST

She’s really got some nerve telling people not to smoke weed when she is clearly a huge drinker and drug addict not to mention a mind blowing idiot in general

its pretty sad when your losing fans to Hanna Montana

maybe Brit should try a smoke, it might make her music improve cause right now its some of the worst crap anyone has ever produced.

Look what it did for those losers Phelps and Obama, or maybe they “rocked out with their cocks out”

I hope the stoner armey wages WAR on Ms Spears… boycott and/or massive concert takeovers with so much smoke she refuses to perform and when it is announced everyone cheers!

make it happen

sam | 4/9/2009, 5:10 pm EST

chill out guys its britney the ideots who were smoking put her dancers off they couldnt perform properly thats y they stopped! she must have got freaked out u kno Gosh y do these things happen to her i mean all the other flippin stars have easy lifes and tours why does she get so much shit in life! those assholes who tried to fuk her tour up should be shot!

BC's Bud | 4/9/2009, 5:15 pm EST

Being from Vancouver, I felt it necessary to chime in with my opinion.

1. Smoking weed is so engrained in our culture that even if you don’t partake, most people turn a blind eye. This is a city that usually has a ceremonial bong hit before smoking a joint. It is what it is.

2. Seeing the news footage and the interviews of concert-goers, one thing was clear: these were not your typical 13y/o screaming fans. The majority were women in their mid-thirties and gay men.

3. Something here stinks more than the weed. Those concert goers who were interviewed, complained not only of Britney walking off stage, but of the quality of her overall performance. Apparently there was a lot of booing and criticsm of her energy and lypsynching.

Bottom line: Britney’s cheesy act is starting to irritate even her biggest fans.

I think everyone who was disappointed should ask for a refund. I don’t think people should support idiots like Britney in the first place. She’s just back for the money honey! She’s No Role Model we all agree – pot smoking and concerts – enough said they go together, she MUST know that – she was just in a snit herself with that last comment made, dissing a City that is hosting her? Also, there are lots of perfumes on the market now that resemble the musky smell of pot, maybe someone sprayed some? You would need an awful lot of pot for her to be distracted on stage, and a professional would keep going. Let’s face it she’s not a role model, not a great singer (never was) and you can find better talent right in your own home town.

Vancouver | 4/9/2009, 5:23 pm EST

Nobody said you couldn’t smell anything. There was definitely a hint of pot in the air. As an avid concert goer, there is a big difference between a few people lighting up and a room full of smoke. It was not Neil Young concert!

Besides when she came back onstage, there was still the same hint of pot floating through the air. It didn’t seem to bother her then.

I call Bullshit, Brit!

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 5:49 pm EST

I knew it wouldn’t take long before her ‘comeback’ tour, hit a major speedbump.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 5:55 pm EST

First of all, I may have been sitting far from the stage but I do NOT think she should have stoped the show for 30 minutes after like 2 songs. I found it very ridiculous. I have been to many concerts and a few of them have been filled with smoke so I found the whole thing very starge.

An old Birtney fan | 4/9/2009, 6:06 pm EST

Britney has grown into an artist suitable for adult listeners…”if you seek amy”…do 8 yr olds even know what she’s talking about?! doubt it. I like a few of her songs and I think she does have SOMEEEE talent. In regards to the pot smoke..I was in the 5th row and I smelled it, but it didn’t bother me, I expected it at a concert. Her going off and not explaining to the audience herself was stupid… imagine how different it would be if she had not been so lazy and asked the audience politely to cut out the smoking.. Britney is a wack job and I can’t believe I paid so much to see her. I won’t ever go to one of her shows again. She was lazy, hypocritical, and rude. And how dare she insult Vancouver?! that right there was the cut off for me!

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 6:12 pm EST

There’s a huge difference in expecting pot smoke at a rock concert… and a Britney Spears concert.

Refund? | 4/9/2009, 6:13 pm EST

I think there should be some sort of compensation… like bring your tickets back for a 50% refund. I don’t care how f-ing famous Britney is or thinks she is.. when you’re famous you have an obligation to your fans and she shouldn’t be in the music business if she can’t handle her own life and “a bit” of pot smoke during her concert. I’ve been waiting to see her for 10 years! thanks britney for wasting my money. You wanna give advice to Vancouver? Here’s some advice to you… Don’t ever come back here, and consider quitting your job. If you can’t sing at least one song at your own concert live, then you’re full of bs!

this is all too big of a deal | 4/9/2009, 6:36 pm EST

Stars go off stage and cancel shows all the time. Chances are those who are angry are just fans of Briney Spears who really wanted to watch her perform. Those who smoked.. why couldn’t you do it before the concert, there’s no rule saying you cannot enter a concert in a stoned state—YESS it is illegal, but it also IS Vancouver hahaha. Britney you WERE a disappointment to Van, aka.North Hollywood and you SHOULD probably make a personal apology to us Vancouverites live. Thanks, we’ll be waiting.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 6:38 pm EST

Consider there was probably more SMOKE backstage with the crew members being in BC. You know what they say….
HEllz yeah!

disappointed | 4/9/2009, 6:43 pm EST

There were about 20.000 people in GM who paid anywhere from $5o in the nosebleeds to $700 on the floor to see Brit. Some people busted their @ss to see her, forfeiting car payment/rent/food money to see her perform. It’s not fair, when one pays for a show, they expect to see one in full!

Joe L. | 4/9/2009, 6:43 pm EST

For all the complainers on here, why are you blaming Britney, when it was the people in the crowd BREAKING THE LAW. Concert or not, the venue is a smoke-free establishment.

Next time, if you really need to light-up your MJ, stay at home and watch one of her concert videos instead of thinking that it is YOUR right to force others to inhale your smoke. Grow up.

WTF happened last night? | 4/9/2009, 6:47 pm EST

The smoke bothered her?
Her pantyhose had a run in it?
She had an anxiety attack from all the flashing cameras and needed a timeout?
… When JT and TI were singing dead and gone, they were talking about Britney, she’s not the same artist she used to be- some will say she never was one-

Hahaha this is hilarious! The funniest part of Spears’ concert was the young 8-11 year old girls singing “all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek amy”…lol Britney what age do you recommend listen to your songs?

o m g | 4/9/2009, 6:58 pm EST

K i’m assuming britney is on tour to get her life back on track. I’m also going to assume she’s trying to quit the whole substance abuse in the process. All of her fans who were smoking in GM are inconsiderate…

you guys.. tempting Brit with Van’s lush and fragrant MJ.. lol

Deanna | 4/9/2009, 7:15 pm EST

Britney MUST know how much of a joke it is of her to say “don’t some weed” when clearly she WAS a stoner. In fact according to her mom’s tell all book she started using coke as early as 16. She’s also been seen in Amesterdam, wearing sweaters with pot leafs on them, married to kfed, and we can’t forget about that obvious 4/20 reference in the Womanizer video. The smell probably made her want to relapse and struck a sensitive chord with her. and, she’s a total robotic slave to work and life right because she wants custody back. I personally miss the crazy, drugged out Britney, and that’s why blackout was her best album.

S | 4/9/2009, 7:20 pm EST

As someone who was at the concert, there is something that bothers me most about the situation: Her set was scheduled from 8:15-10:00 & she still ended at the scheduled time, even though she wasn’t on stage for 45 mins…. Therefore we missed out on almost half the performance.

I think that fact alone entitles us to a 50% refund, and justifies our outrage.

Pedro | 4/9/2009, 7:22 pm EST

In the Good Old Days of the 20th Century, talented entertainers performed (and actually sang) in smoke-filled nightclubs.

spencer | 4/9/2009, 7:23 pm EST

god forbid those pot smokers damage her voice she never uses due to lip-synching.

contrast | 4/9/2009, 7:48 pm EST

Contrast: A person that smokes marijuana and a person that goes to britney spears concerts.

How on earth did these two past times meet? I know it’s canada and all, but surely someone who has smoked pot would come to realize the low quality of artistry in such pop musicians.

Howie Feltersnatch | 4/9/2009, 8:41 pm EST

You’d have to be stoned to sit through her bullshit concert. I guess you’d also have to be stoned to buy tickets and go to the concert in the first place too.

Anonymous | 4/9/2009, 8:48 pm EST

I saw her in Minneapolis and she was fantastic. She had plenty of energy and since it’s a nonsmoking building … people weren’t smoking … and we got to see the entire show with no interruptions. Funny how that works. And if you want to harp on her for lipsynching, go see the show. She actually sang way more than you’d expect … and I wasn’t expecting more than one song. And the songs she did she sing … she sounded perfect.

noname | 4/9/2009, 9:13 pm EST

I didn’t see anyone or smell any smoke around me at ALL! it was a poor excuse for a break. plus, they left us in complete darkness or 30+ mins, couldve turned on the lights to see the “cloud of smoke”. at the lil wayne concert people were actually blazing it up and it was high noticeable but they still CONTINUED the concert.

Vancouver – marijuana capital of the world. It figures!

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 12:13 am EST

This is the backwater Britney Spears that runs over people with her car, drives around with her kid unseatbelted in her lap, tries on panties in the middle of the Hustler store in front of customers, and on and on. She should be thanking Vancouver for even showing up to her “performance.” She might also want to keep in mind some of the following points.

1. She does not sing, so protecting her voice is a non-issue.

2. Smoking weed is something every band deals with. Yes, it is surprising that anyone at a Britney Spears concert would get high, although I might have to be sedated to make it through the “performance.”

3. As many of the people from Vancouver have stated, pot is a big part of the culture. It’s not uncommon to see people getting high in public.

4. Given Spears’ antics, I don’t think she’s anyone to criticize anyone else’s lifestyle.

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 12:22 am EST

Given her lifestyle, she has no right to judge anyone’s lifestyle.

Every band tolerates pot smoke at shows. She does not even sing so protecting her voice is a non-issue.

Vancouver is a progressive city that embraces pot.

She smokes cigarettes. WTF is she complaining about? What a hypocrite.

She should be pleasantly surprised that anyone in Vancouver would even show up to her train wreck of a show.

The Intl | 4/10/2009, 1:10 am EST

She tells people “don’t smoke weed”; then she tries to convince people she’s really cool by adding “rock out with your cock out” – this verifies what a asswipe she is. And now they say she’s going back with her wigger ex. I hate today’s young celebrities.

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 1:44 am EST

Here’s why the last post is stupid:

Smoking isn’t allowed in the theater. Because it’s not allowed, it’s assumed no one will do it, so there’s not proper venthilation for it.

As for BS smoking cigarettes, what does that have to do with it? Also, who’s to say that every performer has “gotten used to” people smoking weed? And even if they have, that doesn’t mean she has to.

Spears sucks a fat one, but that doesn’t mean d-bags need to smoke a doober at her shows. I mean, seriously, what self-respecting stoner goes to a britney show?

nee nuh | 4/10/2009, 3:24 am EST

POT IS ILLEGAL PEOPLE.

the rest of the world is squashing US and Canada because we’re a bunch of addicted morons, while they advance in education and science.

Britney was very RIGHT ON here.

It is against the law and very uncomfortable for people who do not smoke to have to breath that crap and be exposed to it.

And if you used to do it and are trying to quit it is very hard with everyone smoking it around.

Clean out your jellied brains and live sober!

Right on BRIT! F— the rest! All you Drugged out sheep!!!

Good on Britney !!!

She was loking after herself and her crew and besides why is it that you goddam dope smokers have no consideration for other people Smoke yourself to death, its your life but dont impose your filthy drug habits on non smokers.

Inspector Detector | 4/10/2009, 5:39 am EST

1. If you don’t want pot smokers at your show, don’t play Vancouver (or Amsterdam).
2. Dumb rednecks prefer you take oxycontin or meth before her shows. So take a hint, audience. If you smoke pot at her show, your senses will become attuned and you will recognize how awful the music really is.
3. Its ok for her to talk about cocks at her show where there might be kids mixed in with the cougars and gay men (all of whom likely loved that comment), but not let people smoke pot. wtf?
4. For all those on the Sarah Palin tip, of which there are many who listen to Spears, Vancouver is in CANADA, not the USA.
5. If she is worried about not passing a drug test from second hand pot smoke, she is dumber than we think. You cannot fail a drug test from second hand pot smoke, especially in an arena.
6. Her defenders in this section are as dumb as she is. They all deserve each other. Unless you are a gay male fan who loves the irony and drama. In which case, light up and more power to you!

Bea | 4/10/2009, 5:52 am EST

I am really surprised to see the many negative comments given to this young lady, because she complained of smoking during her performance. Really I did not realize that people were allowed to smoke in a concert.
It is good to know that she was protecting her workers’ health. Yes she has problems, but give her credit for trying to improve her life style. I did not go to her performance, but I am happy that I did not, because I would not want to be inhaling the smoke in the building. To be frank , I could not believe that smoking would be allowed in a concert.
Smoking in British Columbia is banned in the work places, restaurants, and concert halls, like the Orpheum, and The Queen Elizabeth Theatre, so why should it be in allowed GM place?
Kudos to you Britney for taking a stand. I wish you all the best, and keep trying to do well and to improve your life style daily. Ignore the critics. To you who do not understand, even perfume can affect a persons’ singing, much more the pot smoke. Come on, you who are promoting that kind of behaviour and stop degrading Vancouver.
Bea.

All of you drug users should be placed on an island and left to rot in your own self indulgenge. They should outright ban pot. You people who smoke it think that every body else wants to smoke it too, You are very wrong, They should have taken you dirty drug users out of the concert hall and straight into prison where you all belong.

weed is not a drug | 4/10/2009, 11:06 am EST

Really, why would you smoke weed at a Brit Brit show? I would need to be on a real drug to get through that shit!

Old Man River | 4/10/2009, 11:07 am EST

Pot smoke was the excuse, not the problem. Don’t you get it, she couldn’t come out and say,”I’m an idiot, my fault, sorry, I’m having a meltdown and lost my place. It was the most convenient excuse. Grow up kids, this ones on her last legs.

I was a pro lighting guy for over 10 yrs. News flash: We ALL smoke pot too (just after tearing down the show). She is pathetic!

Who even goes to a Britney show? Why would anyone? Sad.

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 12:56 pm EST

Just leave her alone. I love Britney And im gonna see her when seh comes to the Uk. Shes been doin alrite so far. And she has to be doing something rite for selling out 46 arenas worldwide.

And for all of you stating that you would need 2 get high just 2 sit through toxic. what a loads of shit. Britney Is doing well. People are aware that she lip syncs and still go 2 see her shows. but its not just the music which her fans want to go and see. its the whole show. and when the rest of the crew said they didnt agree with the conditions in the arena.. britney did the correct thing to pull the show. the fans that went to see it and missed out on half the show should get discount to one of her other shows. but they cant because there all sold out!!!

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 1:16 pm EST

I thought weed smokers were more forward thinking than to go see Britney lip sync and shake her fat ass around.

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 1:21 pm EST

No one is degrading Vancouver. It is referred to as Vansterdam for a reason. Pot is acceptable, tolerated, and close to outright legalization. If she has a problem with that, then she should not go to Vancouver.

I have been to other shows in Vansterdam, and it is common at any show for people to violate the smoking bans with either cigs or pot. It’s part of playing to live audiences.

I don’t think I have ever been to a concert anywhere in my life that I did not smell pot smoke, or see lots of people smoking it. Complaining that there is pot smoke at your show is like complaining that people are at the show. It’s just that common in Vancouver and the States.

They need to stop selling beer at the venues. I’m tired of getting beers accidentally spilled on me. Then after the idiots get drunk, they spit on other fans and start fights.

I go to a show for the music, and I have never had a problem with someone smoking out. It’s always the drunk people causing the problems.

This is stupid anyway. It is getting Spears way too much attention for such a stupid issue. She’s a moron, and anyone that would pay to see her is a moron.

anonymous a | 4/10/2009, 1:37 pm EST

Just a few years ago, Miss Spears was quoted saying that she smokes cigarettes because she likes the way it makes her voice sound !!!!!

Did she finally wise up and become a non-smoker?

Britney Spears live concerts Rock .

My boyfriend took me to see Rush
and it was so boring and they sucked they could not keep a dance beat going or get the crowd pumped like Britney can ,
she is the most important musical performer in the
history of rock music and is far better than aretha franklin, michael jackson, the beatles the stones , metallica wich is noise
led zeppelin oh and I can’t
forget Rush yawn.

The minute she is eligible she will be in the rock hall of fame
alongside another great performer
madonna, and I had no problem waiting for the show to restart
it just got us more excited once
the stinky pot smoke was gone.
and her voice sounded fantastic just like the cd. awesome

What a bunch of losers. Britney Spears? WHO GIVES A S@#T. Just a dumb talentless pig. Like she never smoked pot before. Doesn’t matter she’ll be dead soon enough from a meth/cocaine/pill overdose. If you listen to Shitney Spears you should go jump off a bridge. Please!!! It’s not fair that we have to be subjected to her talentless loser ass because of YOU… see ya later dumb asses

The Unpromised One | 4/10/2009, 4:48 pm EST

Another excellent reason why marijuana should be legalized, and I am being completely serious here. I don’t even smoke, but if it would stop Britney Spears’ hypocritical, washed-up ass from ever singing again, I would gladly roll up a blunt. I can’t believe she’s acting like she hates drugs now, when she was once, and probably still is one of the drug industry’s biggest fucking customers.

Non-Doosh | 4/10/2009, 6:28 pm EST

I’ve decided that anyone who says that Rolling Stone has lost it has lost it.

What is most popular in the music world is important, regardless of how “good” it is.

A quote from Orson Welles, “The best thing commercially, which is the worst artistically, by and large, is the most successful.”

Rolling Stone needs to talk about who is most succesful in order to be relevant!

If you make music to change the digits in your bank account you might as well be a prostitute tho.

Just wait, just wait…

if you haven’t noticed the entire core of Americanism is burning and breaking.

Everyone of the stupid, cookie cutter, stuck on orgasm people in America will realize their beliefs are shite.

I mean…isnt being christian like believing magic shows are real?

Britney,
You should have a J and get in touch with an inner spiritual voice and look deeply at your music and role as a performer. What will you find?

Britney is no-talent white trash.
Someone compared her to the Beatles ????? What kind of idiot is this?

The Beatles wrote over 200 songs. Britney has everything done for her.

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 8:16 pm EST

I live in Vancouver and have many friends who attended the concert. Most of the attendees were women, aged 17-40, many with youngish daughters with them. According to my friends, all in their 30’s, there was NO smoke. People generally don’t light up doobies when they are with their 10 year old daughters… Also, she should have known better than to use that kind of language. She knows she has tweens as part of her fan base. That language is appropriate for say, Metallica or Snoop Dogg, but not Britney, who supposedly cares about her fans. Someone called into the radio saying that they knew a guy who worked backstage and he said the REAL reason for the delay was that she had a rip in her pantyhose and was throwing a diva fit. She would not accept anything from wardrobe and they could not calm her down to get her on stage. Another concert goer emailed the station photos that show that it was not even BRITNEY in the numbers where she wore the dark wig. It looks like a body double, because it’s not her face. It would be hard to tell if you weren’t up close, but they were, and they had a zoom lens. All in all, I feel sorry for her. I think her father has pushed her into this tour too soon. She is acting like this to rebel against the conservatorship, which is trying, under the guise of helping her get on her feet, to squeeze the cash cow while they can.

JBR | 4/10/2009, 8:33 pm EST

Someone had the nerve to compare her to the Beatles ???? How ignorant is that?

elixir | 4/10/2009, 9:15 pm EST

There are no live musicians right -so how could this be called a concert? It’s just bascically theatrics.

elixir | 4/10/2009, 9:22 pm EST

Someone actually compared Britney to the Beatles – that “she is the most important performer in the history of rock”. What an obtuse statement. Deary – THIS ISN’T ROCK MUSIC.

Peter | 4/10/2009, 9:40 pm EST

To the idiot who wrote her voice sounded fantastic just like the cd, that’s because they were playing the cd, and she was pretending to sing along.

voice of reason | 4/10/2009, 10:02 pm EST

how the hell could person who likes good music go though a britney spears concert with out lighting up? i’m positive it would be much more enjoyable and interesting. but the truth is smart weed smokers are chillin at modest mouse and queens of the stone age concerts. i’d be pretty fucking quasi-retarded too if i went to see britney spears, so i know where you conservative people are coming from.

G-Snatch | 4/10/2009, 10:57 pm EST

Alright, whys every bitching about smoking weed, I smoke weed, lots of people do. Its retarded to leave and disappoint your fans like that be it any concert, no matter what the reason is. For all you people that say marijuana is “evil”, get with the times. It is currently used as a treatment for cancer and other ailments. A little herb never hurt anyone.

Anonymous | 4/10/2009, 11:02 pm EST

I’ve seen:

Pearl Jam, Tool, Modest Mouse, QOTSA, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Rage, NIN, Marilyn Manson and Britney as far as trippy themed concerts go Britney and Tool do them best. I would say Pink Floyd but I haven’t had the chance. Britney should welcome more pot smokers, it’s a visual and sexy dancey experience. instead of trippy call it strippy. One of these days some of you will discover the beautiful world of Britney’s B sides and imports and you’ll learn what rolling stone has been trying to say.

I’ve smoked weed, no big deal, but I’m seeing too many kids thinking its ok to smoke 24/7. Grow up…get a job and at least try to be responsible. It was the encore, show over. Quit crying into your bong and get real…Britney for Christ sake…not a world stopper…go help the PETA wackos worry about animals more than starving kids in the U.S.

Geddy Lee | 4/11/2009, 1:25 am EST

I wish my voice was as masculine as Britney’s!

worksatgmplace | 4/11/2009, 1:40 am EST

Ok, So I work at GM place. I got called in on my night off to work the Britney concert. I obliged, since I was curious about seeing Britney.

I cant tell you if there was pot smoke or not for sure, I couldnt smell any, but I was up in the 300 ( nose bleeds) section, working.

The biggest issue I had, was that when she decided to not come back on stage, no one was notified until about 20 mins after she left the stage.

The quality of the performance was horrible. When I was working ( I could hear the music perfectly clear from where I work) and wasn’t able to watch the show, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. It was kinda like someone was just playing her CD really loudly. She DID NOT SING. No matter what anyone says, the ONLY time she actually said anything was when she said ” What’s up Vancouver?” twice, then when she said bye.

It was just overall a disappointing show. The best part was the intro by Perez Hilton, and the Pussycat Dolls.

elixir | 4/11/2009, 1:48 am EST

Smoking while watching Britney Spears ???? I can’t imagine.

Daniel Lionheart | 4/11/2009, 2:04 am EST

Lol I’ll light up a big doobie and blow it in her plastic face.

Britney spears needs to quit and go back to her Mickey Mouse Club.

I’m starting a Britney spears boycott for all respectable BC weed smokers, whose with me?

tickets | 4/11/2009, 3:50 am EST

If parents would stop bringing there 12 year old daughters to go see Britney the world would be a better place, Because all the arenas would be compleatly empty. As long as you are spending time with your kids anyway, you are better off making it quality time. Im sure she didnt stop her whole entire show because of that one person who thaught it would be a good idea to get stoned during that epic version of “im not that innocent”. She stoped it because she probably snorted one to many oxy contins and got flusterd.

SAD | 4/11/2009, 7:20 am EST

Poor Britney ! With a “contact high” , she may have discovered some “newfound” talent ?…or rather, the talent she never possessed !!!

markf50 | 4/11/2009, 10:04 am EST

The time for MS. Spears to retire with what little face she has left.
Take your millions earned off the backs of teenage girls and well…just go away.
Your 15 mins are up.

enough already

markf50 | 4/11/2009, 10:05 am EST

The time for MS. Spears to retire with what little face she has left has come and gone.
Take your millions earned off the backs of teenage girls and well…just go away.
I do hope you realize the damage you’ve done to our children!
Your 15 mins are up.

enough already, go away.

walter | 4/11/2009, 11:16 am EST

lemme see ;maybe she can tour with the simspon bimbos this summer in an anti smoking tour….the we suck tour.what is the fascintaion with these pieces of crap?

Anonymous | 4/11/2009, 12:18 pm EST

Her 15 minutes are up?

The girl’s been a star for since 1998. 11+ years, is not exactly 15 minutes.

I’m in no way a fan of hers, but give credit where it’s due.

Anonymous | 4/11/2009, 3:47 pm EST

It’s sad how morons see a plant that God created as a drug. Drugs are man made. Cannabis is a plant. I have been smoking for years and still to this day I am very productive. Don’t be dumb sheep and believe the lies of the ignorant. Marijuana is a medicine. Overthrow the DARE cops that spread racism and hate. Brainwasing our children. As to a previous comment about the USA and Canada being “squashed” by other countries, because we are a bunch of junkies, you are wrong. Lots of advances in the entire human race have come from psychodelics. Besides, other countries are having to play catch-up to North-American advancements. These plants were put here as medicine for the mind, by God. Just because you folks have seen immature irresponcible people use Cannabis, don’t pass judgement on other pot smokers as well as myself. I don’t buy into those BS sterotypes of potsmokers. As far a Britney Spears goes Her music is garbage like most of today’s entertainment is. She is not a role model. Parents need a head check for letting their kids listen to this. The sheep have been brainwashed into believing “mainstream” ideas are the only rational way to think.

Anonymous | 4/11/2009, 4:23 pm EST

Hey Mr Mature pot smoker-for years…Im sure you’d make a GREAT role model; keep telling yourself that.

PotSmoker | 4/11/2009, 10:34 pm EST

im going to blow pot smoke in her face at her 4/20 concert. yeah.

[ { ( girl ) } ] | 4/11/2009, 10:55 pm EST

Yeah, young people do smoke pot alot more now…it’s sad. You know why? They say it makes them “feel better”. Well, I guess it would, since you’re on a high, YOU IDIOTS!

It’s also sad that I’m THIRTEEN and know so many people that do it. :(
I’m not making that up, I swear.
Anyway, it was appearently for the benefit of the crew members.

Whatever…don’t blow it all up, it’s not a big deal. If you wish to smoke, do it someplace where there’s not so many people.

[[ God forbid you offend someone! ]]

Andy Sappy | 4/12/2009, 4:19 am EST

I’m sure some one like the Rolling Stones wouldn’t walk off stage because they smelled smoke. Ms. Spears was just worried that the smoke might cause her to test positive at her pee test. Smoking pot is ok. If you don’t know you should ask somebody.

ldnearthesea | 4/12/2009, 9:59 am EST

Why anyone would want to waste money seeing this no-talent is beyond me. She doesn’t write any songs, can’t sing very well, sings the same ol’ stuff all the time. Diane Krall, who is from Vancouver, is a talented singer/songwriter, and good-looking, but doesn’t get a fraction of the attention Britney Spears gets, let alone the money.

buttmess | 4/12/2009, 3:42 pm EST

Britney Spears is terrible. If you paid me to go I’d still need about 5 joints to get me through. But all these years smoking at shows i never thought about the guys working the lights up top. All that weed and cig smoke going up top, they probly get really high and or sick depending upon if they smoke either.

Enlightened | 4/12/2009, 3:51 pm EST

All the soccer moms who are whining
about the smell of pot smoke being exposed to their darling under age daughters need a reality check.
It’s so nice that you made the decision to expose your kid to a bunch of boy toy dancers in fetish gear grinding Ms. Spears, and that she, in her infinite wisdom encouraged you all to “rock out with your cock out”.
Hope you enjoyed “If You Seek Amy”.
Your debutante daughters are on their way to being the best little hookers in high school.
Isn’t Britney a great role model now?

elixir | 4/12/2009, 4:47 pm EST

Britney doesn’t give a rats ass about her fans. She and her father are just trying to bring in as much money as they can – it may be their last chance to rake it in big.

My god! | 4/12/2009, 6:10 pm EST

Now after reading this I can definitely say the world is coming to an end. People are commenting on how Rush can keep a dance beat and how Britney is rock n roll hall of fame material? This is by far just as bad as believing in talking snakes and how one apple changed everything. People pull your heads out of your asses. Who smokes weed and goes and sees Britney Spears. I wouldn’t waste a joint on her.

Anonymous | 4/13/2009, 12:43 pm EST

Don’t smoke pot. Mix nyquil, vodka, and valium like i do.

Smoked Britney | 4/13/2009, 1:50 pm EST

Not since Vladimir the Sprint Dwarf and Artemis Gordon of the Wild, Wild West has such a scene taken place, everyone passing joints at a Britney Spears concert and then smoking out the blonde diva on stage. Shame on you, please drop LSD or take X-tasy the next time, that is odorless versus the billowing smoke of cannibus covering the stage like dry ice, we know you’ll like.

Jungleland2 | 4/13/2009, 2:33 pm EST

Maybe she had to meet her parole officer in the morning?

I hope somebody remembered to hit “pause” on the pre-recorded music and vocals before they all walked off stage

Dirty Duck / Ducky | 4/13/2009, 3:51 pm EST

Britney spears is the best example of how braindead the american public has become when it comes to music. I still can not believe that people are raving about a “comeback” when she lip synch’s a good percentage of her show. How can that be considered a comeback? She’s just in it for the money cause she knows her star has been fading for awhile now and she has kids. She’s pathetic and a terrible role model for this country period! And if another person says how hard it is to dance and sing at the same time all I have to say is f**k off! Without a doubt the lamest and most pathetic remark I’ve been hearing. If your favourite star cant sing and dance at the same time she shouldnt be on the stage for christ’s sakes! This is what happens when music goes oh so wrong. You have britney spears: the combination of a stripper and milli vanilli.
Grow up and listen to better music! There’s so much more talent out there than this fake garbage…

Danni Duck | 4/13/2009, 11:27 pm EST

Duck
Britney made lipsyncing cool. playing in a live band is soo ten years ago as is all the guitar, drums and bass variations. britney’s expert songwriters are away ahead of your skinny jean “indie” music lovin ass.

elixir | 4/14/2009, 1:22 am EST

At her NEXT concert – tell everybody to go – and light up a doobie. Maybe we can smoke her out.

bluesteel | 4/14/2009, 1:31 am EST

Well, I guess we should call it -
“Amy meets Mary Jane?

Reverend Billy D. / Austin | 4/14/2009, 11:13 am EST

“You have Britney Spears: the combination of a stripper and Milli Vanilli.”

Frankly there are not enough drugs in the Western hemisphere to get me anywhere near one of her shows – the very concept frightens me.

No longer Britney Fan | 4/14/2009, 5:15 pm EST

I was present at that concert, and the air quality wasnt bad at all. I have been to many and this had to have been one of the MOST ventilated. You think shed enjoy it last time I checked she was a smoker…

Dirty Duck / Ducky | 4/15/2009, 9:50 am EST

I take it back…

Danni duck IS the reason music is suffering today. Cause of morons like him…or her.
Playing live in a band is so ten years ago? What!? It’s called “talent”. ANYONE can lip synch idiot. So sad….

Pathetic drama of britney | 4/15/2009, 1:02 pm EST

and she ended the pathetic show with an insult to Canada and Vancouver. motherfuckers.
enough stupidity, WE WANT REAL TALENTS,WE WANT REAL SHOWS, TAKE HER TO WHERE SHE BELONG, MENTAL HOSPITAL ONLY.

Ashley | 4/15/2009, 4:47 pm EST

I was at the Vancouver concert. Even if she had not stopped the show for a good 30 min I would still be disappointed. I was at beyonce the week prior and wow she knows how to put on a show. Beyonce’s dress changes were fast and the show was continuous and fully entertaining. And as far as I know she was singing. Britney was gone not just for the 30 min but for what felt like 10 min spaces between every 3rd song. Just when you got into it and thought it was going to be good she was gone again. Not worth the money I spent… double what beyonce was selling her tickets for…. and half the show!!!!

elixir | 4/15/2009, 7:22 pm EST

Sad – she made quite a chunk of change at that show. What do people keep feeding her?

Devin | 4/16/2009, 12:07 am EST

You people seriously need to back off of Britney. I smoke pot, but you wouldn’t catch me smoking joints at a Britney concert! Make some damn pot brownies if you really can’t get through a 2 hour show without getting high! And yeah she lip sinks, find someone that can sing while dancing their ass off like that for hours straight and then you can complain!!! The show is amazing, there are contortionist and trapeze artists, amazing lighting FX, and some kick ass dance numbers.

Shitney music | 4/16/2009, 11:27 am EST

To those who say why dont you leave her alone? in return why cant she leave us all alone and in peace.
She cant move and sing in the same time, why? with all the money she makes what is her problem, a spoiled bitch, who is feasting on her stupid fans. who pays for such shows only those who dont know what real talent is. why is she naked all the time singing, donate pants to britney, skirts, dresses, fucking ugly bitch.

Dirty Duck / Ducky | 4/16/2009, 5:11 pm EST

DEVIN: Are you serious or what?
“Try singing and dancing your ass off for 2 hours”

You make it sound like it has never been done. You obviuosly dont know shit about REAL music or you wouldnt be defending someone who lip syncs but charges ‘fans” over a $100 a ticket.
Have you ever heard of mick jagger? He’s been singing AND dancing HIS as off since the late 60’s and all with his REAL voice. How about Van halen with david lee roth back in 2007? These guys are over 50 and in better shape than britney….and guess what? Dave sang and moved and danced for over 2 1/2 hours for half a night! Ok…not into rock? Beyonce (who i could care less about) blows britney out of the water! All her concert reviews are positive and from what is written, worth every penny. AND GUESS WHAT….she SINGS all her songs. Janet Jackson…the same. Your pathetic statement about how hard it is to sing and dance is one of the most pathetic statements I have ever read. Get rid of your skanky idol and start learning about what a real musician is all about. Britney is a poor excuse of entertainment. Next you’ll be telling me miley cyrus is great in concert too…
Get a life.

VaGina Duck | 4/16/2009, 5:23 pm EST

Dirty Duck get a life. Can you push over 10 years of pop hits live in fishbowl and employ as many people as Britney does? doubt it. Britney isn’t Mick Jagger but her fans love what she does. that’s doesn’t mean her fans are all stupid. I love that Britney doesn’t careless about having approval on her music credibilty. she’s the only one who doesn’t anymore. she does write her own songs and when she doesn’t she hires the best. people you probably never heard of because of your lame assumptions, some of them have wrote for chili peppers, madonna, etc. get over it, britney is a stoner, and this was another live joke from her breaking away from the routine

axiom | 4/16/2009, 6:08 pm EST

We truly have an epidemic of ignorance in this country. That’s why we are in such as predicament. If you are a sucker for this crap, you are sucker for anything. And to the youth – the obesity rate has DOUBLED in the past 3 decades -get off your lazy game playing, Youtube watching asses and do something worthwhile.

Devin | 4/17/2009, 1:13 am EST

Thanks axiom! Your absolutely right :D She does smoke pot and she was totally being sarcastic when she said that… Notice she said, “Thank you Vancouver, drive safe, don’t smoke pot, and rock out with your cock out,” now does that sound like a serious comment? And I actually like a very wide variety of music INCLUDING the great Mick Jagger, whom I would hate to tell you, but he does not do hardcore choreography like Britney who dances on top of a moving lions cage while trapeze artists are spinning through the air over her head. So your rude comments and assumptions are both out of hand and cowardice; easy to talk so much crap to someone when your typing, try and have just a little courtesy towards other humans!

Devin | 4/17/2009, 1:17 am EST

I meant thanks VagDuck lol, axiom also makes lame assumptions and clearly should not be talking crap about people for watching youtube if he has time to get on here, haha!

axiom | 4/18/2009, 2:23 pm EST

The most spectacular concert I saw with effects and REAL LIVE music was Pink Floyd at the LA Coliseum in 1988. Nothing comes close.

Devin | 4/19/2009, 7:16 pm EST

I was just thinking, and one last note. To AXIOM, who stated something along the lines of, “and to the youth, the obesity rate has DOUBLED in the past 3 decades get off your lazy Youtube watching asses.” If you were educated you might think that “today’s youth” is not to blame for their weight. It is actually you ADULTS whom are marketing unhealthy products at children whom then ask their ignorant parents to make these purchases, which thus results in the weight increase. Think a little bit before you insult an entire population.

CG | 4/21/2009, 1:47 am EST

she doesnt like to have pot smoke in her face get the fuck over it to everyone who is freaking the fuck out you all sound so stupid who has loads money and millions fans her. not u sorry keep shit like that to your self anyways just cause you like doesnt mean EVERYone else does so stop being selfish fucks!!!

Anonymous | 4/21/2009, 1:52 am EST

get the fuck over yourselfs pot sucks and its so 1970’s for losers stop being lame. Brit doesnt want it at her shows oh well that kind of shit shoud be done at home in your own bubble not every one likes it.

Anonymous | 4/22/2009, 4:15 pm EST

Devin – they had lots of processed junk food back in the 60’s and 70′. Kids at that time ate alot sugar as well. The problem is – kids today don’t burn the calories – Why not? – they don’t exercise – Why not? – they spend too much time sitting on their asses playing video games, watching YouTube, twittering, and posting on blogs like this – just like you are doing. Take your lazy ass outside and ride a bike.

Anonymous | 4/27/2009, 6:09 pm EST

there will never ever ever be a pot free show in vancouver, if you dont live in bc then you’ll never get it either, so saying it shouldn’t happen just shows you dont know bc or undertand the way EVERYONE lives out here

Anonymous | 5/7/2009, 12:50 am EST

all of yous’ are losers

realist | 5/21/2009, 4:22 am EST

Vancouver is Vancouver, lets be realistic, if you are a star, you have to accept the different ways that people are in different areas, it goes with the paychecks….

Jeune Etudiante | 7/2/2009, 9:45 pm EST

ForexTheaft | 7/13/2009, 6:43 pm EST

What a great article. I stumbled into your site when I was searching for movies and I must say I really enjoyed your post. Will be back to check more out in the future!

mike | 7/16/2009, 4:15 am EST

to Devin:

Yes. Lets not blame the youth for their laziness and obesity. it is DEFINITELY marketing that is making them fat.

People need to stop making excuses for their children, and excuses for themselves being shitty parents, and make sure their kids exercise at least enough to maintain a healthy weight. Theyre going to bitch about it, but they’re kids, so they’ll get over it. You’re the parent, its your responsibility.

and honestly, what pot smoker would waste money on a britney spears concert?

girlshert | 7/21/2009, 10:24 pm EST

This is a great web site. I have some great web pages myself if you are interested to share. But I should not go on about my site too much, that is not fair, right?

Potsmoker 420 | 10/13/2009, 9:05 pm EST

lol what a diva for real for someone whos a crackhead to get ill over weed smell. thats a pretty lame excuse and a big DRAMA QUEEN!!!!

Anonymous | 11/13/2009, 5:22 pm EST

Love You B.S
