- Nas, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, OutKast’s Big Boi, Common and the Roots will headline select dates on this year’s Rock the Bells Festival. House of Pain, KRS-One, Wu-Tang’s Raekwon and RZA and more top hip-hop acts and special guests will take part in the fest. Dates and venues will be announced soon, so watch the Guerrilla Union site.
- According to the Smoking Section, Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst will release a DVD featuring footage from his last tour and the recording sessions from both his self-titled solo album and Outer South. One of My Kind will stream for free on various sites starting April 15th.
- Madonna has made a “substantial donation” to relief efforts following the earthquake that hit Italy earlier this week. “I am happy to lend a helping hand to the town that my ancestors are from,” Madonna told People.
- Songwriter Marilyn Bergman has stepped down as the CEO and President of ASCAP after 15-year term, Reuters reports. Her successor will be elected next month. During her term, Bergman helped extend copyright protection from 50 years to 70.
