Look Back at Dave Matthews Band in 1996, Allman Brothers in 1973

In the current issue of Rolling Stone, Jenny Eliscu goes inside the Dave Matthews Band’s seventh studio disc, which is due in June. Take a look back at the band’s early days in our 1996 profile The Raging Optimism and Multiple Personalities of Dave Matthews, which finds Matthews hanging out at his hometown bar in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Plus, check out Cameron Crowe’s 1073 story on the Allman Brothers, who recently wrapped their 15-date run at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Crowe caught up with the band for The Allman Brothers’ Story two years after guitarist Duane Allman’s death, as the group got its first taste of stardom.
