No, see, it doesn’t work like that. Just because Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are selling millions with pop-rock tunes doesn’t mean bands that are held in high regard such as Radiohead have to do the same. The fact of the matter is, we expect more from Eminem. This is the guy who made the Marshall Mathers LP, and this single just doesn’t cut it. Now, it’s sort of to be expected, as Encore was step back for him, as it was filled with rather annoying joke songs (lead single “Just Lose It” with its annoying Pee Wee Herman yelps, and the terrible “A** Like That”) and some passable serious songs (”Mockingbird”, “Like Toy Soldiers”) that are good for what they are but don’t reach the heights of “Stan”, “Lose Yourself”, or “The Way I Am”. Since it is the first single (unless you count “Crack a Bottle”, which will apparently be on both Em’s and 50’s albums), I was expecting “We Made It” to be another joke song, but it’s just not good. At all. Just because other less talented rappers are making millions doesn’t mean Em has to lower himself to their level. Great music is great music, even if it doesn’t sell well, and Em proved in the past that he can make memorable songs and still be the most famous rapper out there.

I don’t think this’ll be as successful as his other lead singles, but it’s sometimes hard to guess these things. It’s just not that catchy (the female-sung chorus is just bad), and Em once again decides to use that annoying voice inflection of his.
