After a successful one-night-only reunion concert last year, the members of ’70s supergroup Bad Company will once again come together, this time for a run of summer 2009 shows. According to a press release, the band’s founding members — singer Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke — are all on board for the 10 shows that kick off June 17th in Hollywood, Florida and conclude July 4th in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Doobie Brothers will join Bad Company on the tour.

In August 2008, the three remaining members of Bad Company (bassist Boz Burrell passed away in 2006) reunited for the first time in nearly a decade to perform at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. A DVD of that sold-out show, Bad Company – Hard Rock Live, will be released on August 8th. “It’s great to be back with Paul and Simon,” Ralphs said in a statement. “We made great music together and had the time of our lives doing it. I’m really looking forward to getting back out there this summer.”

As of right now, the jaunt doesn’t take the band west of Michigan. Prior commitments may prevent this from becoming a full-scale reunion tour, however. As Rock Daily previously reported, Mick Ralphs is set to reunite with glam band Mott the Hoople in October, and Rodgers still has some touring obligations to Queen following the release of The Cosmos Rocks last year. Check the tour dates as they stand now below:

Good news, except that Atlanta is the closest gig to me, and that is miles and miles and miles away. Please don’t be afraid to step deeper (west) into the U.S. for some more dates, guys.

Dude Man | 3/31/2009, 7:12 pm EST

I agree Bruce. Bad Co. is another band the hall of shame has ignored. It’s a rock n roll hall that hates rock.

weegie | 3/31/2009, 7:52 pm EST

Why do you mookie-mooks with awful taste in music keep whining about your terrible bands you love not making it in the Hall ? Psssstt……those bands suck….hard. It’s why they’re not in ;) Pssst….you have really bad taste in music…it’s not a conspiracy to keep them out…people with bigger brains and better taste run the hall and listen to good music…you’re embarassing yourselves by naming these godawful bands and crying about no inductions. Stop it, really. I kinda feel bad for you..

YAWN

Dude Man | 3/31/2009, 9:53 pm EST

The smiley face was real mature on your part weegie. Go listen to your top 40 rap. Fake singing, rip-off samples, and bummlegum trash included.

The Intl | 4/1/2009, 12:42 am EST

Weegie, you’re a moron. True Bad Co is a shit band, but the R&RHOF is not the gold standard for r&r quality. Metallica? And not Stooges? Need I say more? I didn’t think so.

The good music of Bad Company from the 70s notwithstanding, isn’t anyone but me getting tired of all these former heyday bands going on reunion tours, trying to capture former glories ? Fifty and sixty-year-olds up on a rock’n'roll stage, dyeing their hair, swinging their ass, and pandering to the just as old crowd in front of them ? It’d be hilarious if it wasn’t so pathetic. It’s either living too much in the past or doing it just for the money. Either way, it cheapens the music.

where in the heck is Virginia Beach, FL – maybe this writer can get his TYPOS fixed!

Jon G. | 4/1/2009, 1:05 pm EST

Spook, I think that your words hold true for some of the old acts, but Rodgers is still singing his ASS off.

Mott | 4/1/2009, 1:07 pm EST

Why wasn’t there a headline when Mick’s far superior band announced a reunion? Was I expecting too much from Rolling Stone again?

spook76 | 4/1/2009, 4:20 pm EST

Singing great and still recording NEW music I always applaud. But 50 and 60-somethings have no place up on a rock ‘n roll stage prancing around in a reunion show of a band that was big thirty years ago. That’s not fact. It’s just my opinion.

Spook 76. Ask any music efficienado and they’ll tell you that the classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s is the greatest in history. Better musicians, better musicianship, better music, period! There are very good newer bands out today…Maroon5, James Morrison, Paolo Nutini to name and few,and country is full of great musicians as well. Much of what is put out today though is simply bubblegum crap. If you have to dance while you’re singing it, ala any pop music today, then the music behind it isn’t worth listening to because it won’t stand on it’s own. The skill level of bands like the Doobie Brothers, Bad Company, etc., is missing. While I agree that every band in the R&R HOF doesn’t belong there, classic rock is classic for a reason. Open up your mind, and don’t put someone down because they’re over 30. Eric Clapton, and many others are in their 60’s, and putting out music that is better than ever.
