Fans React To Marilyn Manson’s Dance-Punky New Song “We’re From America”

As Rock Daily reported last week, Marilyn Manson’s new track “We’re From America,” from the upcoming The High End of Low, was posted as a free download on the shock rocker’s official Website. If the song is any indication of what we might expect from Manson’s new LP, it seems like the Anti-Christ Superstar may be heading in a dance-punk direction a step away from the industrial metal and goth pop of previous albums like 2007’s Eat Me Drink Me. Perhaps it’s because Manson is happy to have Twiggy Ramirez back in the fold, but the music ranks among the most upbeat of the singer’s career, even if the lyrics are ultra-critical view of the U.S.A. So, how are the fans feeling about Manson’s new sound?

First, to our ears, “We’re From America” sounds like a Mansonized version of LCD Soundsystem’s “North American Scum,” from its lyrics mocking America down to its vocal cadence and thrash breakdown on the choruses.

Over at the Manson message board the Heirophant Council, the general consensus seems to be pretty positive, with fans celebrating the track’s propulsive riff and beat. To quote one message boarder, “It’s a really catchy and ‘ballsy’ song, fuck yeah!” If the fans have any complaints, it’s the repetitiveness and somewhat clichéd lyrics. “The word America becomes a symbol in this song, and it’s nowhere nearly as provocative as it tries to be,” writes one poster. “It’s been done a countless number of times in recent years, and done better — even by Manson himself. It seems like a fill-in-the-blank Manson parody by MAD TV.”

The High End of Low is due out May 26th, and will be preceded by first single “Arma… geddon.” So what’s your take on Manson’s latest opus? We’re accepting your reviews in the comments.

take your little makeup-caked ass and live elsewhere you angsty rich old man

Sean | 3/30/2009, 3:02 pm EST

Great new song. Can’t wait to dance to it in a club, even if the lyrics aren’t nearly as clever as I expect from Manson.

Tino | 3/30/2009, 3:12 pm EST

The song rocks, haters be damned.

i was a little disapointed but i havent heard the whole cd but i will always respect him as an artist i like the lyrics but its to “happy” for me

enddd | 3/30/2009, 4:32 pm EST

borrrring! Musically stale with “crunchy” guitars and steady dance-like beat. Lyrically lazy with generic angst. It’s the same BS he’s been putting out since Holy Wood. I hate to say it, but the shock-rocker hasn’t shocked me for years, and his angst has turned to pseudo-angst. I hope this first single isn’t an example of the entire album.

Paul | 3/30/2009, 4:33 pm EST

Saying it sounds like a Manson parody song is a little harsh, but it’s still kinda underwhelming. I don’t know, maybe I’d like it a little better if Manson wasn’t going around telling everybody the new album was going to be as heavy as Antichrist Superstar. This song isn’t a hair on the nuts of Reflecting God.

But maybe this is just the pop sacrifice to radio and the rest of it will kick ass. I hope so, anyway.

matts | 3/30/2009, 4:33 pm EST

What is this guy doing still making music? If thats what you can call it.

matts | 3/30/2009, 4:35 pm EST

MM is so irrelevant in music today. Was he ever?

chong | 3/30/2009, 5:48 pm EST

quite disappointed with this one, hope its not a reflection of whats to come on the new album, we need something fresh or its gonna look bleak for the man who could once scare the hell out of everybody by just being in the room! Lets hope the album is a true reunion with his old sound and this song is just a one off to please the masses!

ben | 3/30/2009, 5:59 pm EST

I had applied a technique to my F5 key usually reserved for below the waist on the official Marilyn Manson website for the last day. I was waiting for the new download “We’re From America” that had been first promised in Kerrang! Magazine but was nowhere to be found and was forced to wait the pain of a week to get the song. But now it is mine.

“We’re From America” is very different to Manson’s recent work both lyrically and melodically. The guitar based rock n roll styling of Tim Skold’s work on Eat Me Drink Me have been demolished and replaced by the synth heavy electronic sounds of Twiggy Ramirez that have not been seen in nearly 10 years. The sound doesn’t sound like any other album but is probably close to the triptych (like a cross between Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood) in its layered sound scapes. The song recreates the anthem like repetitiveness found in Irresponsible Hate Anthem and New Model No. 15.

Manson has shifted his lyrical attention away from the romanticism of Eat Me Drink Me to the raw politics of Portrait of an American Family and Holywood, a change that will be welcomed by fans. The lyrics have traded in the poetic quality of Manson’s softer songs for a hard hitting cynicism – this is not to say that Manson’s signature wordplay has been disregarded – with the song featuring clever neologisms and juxtaposition such as “Americovery”. Also worth noting is Manson’s revisiting of his Holy Wood era politics regarding Martyrdom and Victimisation.

While the song can get somewhat repetitive and oversimplified in its lyricism and feels like Green Day in its message. “We’re From America” sounds like what should have come after Holywood if Twiggy had not left and reaffirms the bands status as well layered political shock rock. If “We’re From America” is anything like the rest of “The High End Of Low”, Manson could be releasing his best work since the Triptych if not ever.

Have you ever noticed Manson looks like Ace Frehley with a botched face-lift?

ryan | 3/30/2009, 7:28 pm EST

I feel a bit mis-leaded after hearing this song due to claims that this album is gonna be as heavy as Anti-Christ Superstar.
Then again there are 12 more tracks we haven’t heard (there was a leak of “Arma-God-Damn-Mother-Fuckin’- Geddon” and “the wow”) so hopefully we will get the goods come this May when the album is released.

thezero | 3/30/2009, 7:37 pm EST

What a let down.

Matthew Parrish | 3/30/2009, 7:43 pm EST

I loved every Manson album from Portrait to Holy Wood but Golden Age and Eat Me are probably two of the worst releases of the 2000’s. For some reason, I keep listening, hoping that Manson will return to form. So, here’s comes “We’re From America” and here’s my play by play review:

(song starts) Engaging intro. I’m feeling the energy of the guitars. The beat has a nice kick. Everything’s feeling great. Hey! This might be a good song…wait…WTF? That’s all he’s got for lyrics? I mean, he was never Paul Simon but his words were never as blatantly flat as they are here. On his good albums anyway. They’re too distracting. Verdict: He’s done (or should be).

WILLIAM WILLIS | 3/30/2009, 8:05 pm EST

The Intro of the song reminds us of the “history” of Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez. No longer will we listen to such phonies as the Jonas Brothers, but true artists. The song goes on, stressing that “we’re from America”, that we’re a part of something that’s dying, like were passengers on a plane that’s on fire diving to hell. The song has a great beat, and overall, is one of the greatest song to be released this year so far.

dance metal | 3/30/2009, 8:18 pm EST

marilyn manson is the godfather of dance punk lol

Art | 3/30/2009, 8:46 pm EST

What a let down, I guess he is running out of ideas……..you wanna hear something cool listen to sopor aeternus from germany

COMAwhite | 3/30/2009, 8:47 pm EST

Too “dance remix”..i definitely was looking for something more hard core like antichrist.. and more creative or colorful like mechanical animals.. slightly disappointed. But I am still very excited to hear “15″

karloff the uncanny | 3/30/2009, 9:02 pm EST

You can always count on Manson to change his sound every time he puts a new album. We’re from American is a good sign from what i’m suspecting will be a great album.

LarryW | 3/30/2009, 9:58 pm EST

“We’re From America” sounds like something you’d expect from Marilyn Manson. It’s not his worst, but certainly not his greatest. Nothing to revile (at least Timbaland didn’t have a hand in this one) or celebrate either….

AKS | 3/30/2009, 10:23 pm EST

Great song. I was bored off my gourd with the last two albums. The recent navel-gazing melodies are replaced here with a vitriolic anti-anthem the likes of which we haven’t heard from Manson in a while. I find the dance-punk thing refreshing in the same way I enjoyed Mechanical Animals–a familiar sound given a new spin. But this sound is also going to isolate fans the way Mechanical Animals did when it was first released.

RebelFactory | 3/31/2009, 12:13 am EST

This song is great; yes, it’s not like any previous album: I was actually fearing that he would be repeating himself. I’m glad it turned out to be a completely new sound.

I agree that it is somehow a cross between mechanical animals and holy wood, but it also has some elements from golden age and maybe other songs of the album will have elements from eat me drink me.

That’s what’s great about Artist. They should keep moving forward.

Haters be damned.

theol | 3/31/2009, 12:13 am EST

Been a fan for 14 years, and can’t wait for the cd’s release in May. Loving what I’ve heard so far. And Matthew Parrish, Manson is hardly “done”.

Raul | 3/31/2009, 12:39 am EST

Loved it. Can’t complain. The lyrics are a bit repetitive but they are still good. With great quotes like “We don’t like to kill our unborn; we need them to grow up and fight the wars.”

TSoldier | 3/31/2009, 2:23 am EST

I really like it. The album kind of reminds me of some Dr. Steel stuff, “Ode to Revenge” “glutton” “Childhood (dont) A-Go-Go”

Looking forward to THEOLs release and I cant wait to see some new music videos.

Martin | 3/31/2009, 2:25 am EST

Sweet tune.
Quite minimalist. Good to have Twiggy back.

LeINCOHERENT | 3/31/2009, 2:36 am EST

The song is different but as fans we need different. Manson has experienced his pre-evolutionary development which defined his foundation as a musician; Antichrist Superstar. That said, each subsequent album, or transformation, is an additional layer wherein the listener can explore the world through the eyes of Marilyn Manson. Expecting the Antichrist to return is not only ignorant, but the idea contradicts what Manson is aiming to acheive. The only way you’ll experience ACSS is either by listening to ACSS, or by hoping Manson performs the songs at a concert (e.g. beautiful people, angel with…, man that you fear).

I really enjoy the new song; his music allows me to escape, even if only for 3-5 minutes.

SirSalem | 3/31/2009, 3:49 am EST

Now this is certainly going to be an album to look forward too. I love the style Manson has done the song in and I feel he captures his old-style with a new twist. He constantly impresses me with how he grows as an artist!

sympathyfortheParents | 3/31/2009, 6:25 am EST

‘matt’ sorry… i wish marilyn manson has a lot more relevant in todays music scene…weve been left with pretty sleaves galore hardcore boys. its boring…

im glad twiggy is back and they can start rocking again…seems like twiggy has added that groove that was needed in the last album.

cant wait for download festival 2009!

Frank E-Sound Engineer of MM | 3/31/2009, 7:26 am EST

I’ve heard the entire CD, it has a great mixture of everything, couldn’t expect less from Manson, his best yet so far.

Uncle WIlly | 3/31/2009, 10:08 am EST

The song is good, but if he’s gonna glam it up like that, then why in the hell don’t they get John 5 back? He is an amazing guitarist, and the most talented musician even in the group – sorry Twig. Also, “Four Rusted Horses” is fantastic. I cannot wait for him to come around, but I am not going to some crap festival crammed with mediocre bands just to hear these new songs live. I’ll wait for the solo winter tour.

reznorfan15 | 3/31/2009, 10:21 am EST

from the 4 songs i’ve heard, i have a greater appreciation for ea me drink me. this music lacks something.

J | 3/31/2009, 11:06 am EST

First of all, the song “We’re from America” is a direction of music Manson hasn’t done previously as he is always changing his musical style. I personally like it.
However, the other 3 songs are just SAMPLES (albeit, very good ones) so don’t take them all too seriously. I will say this though, the song “Four Rusted Horses” is a message of what is to come and thats a masterpiece of an album. It’s one of the best songs he’s written and will be even better when its a full song.
Roll on May!

Shakki | 3/31/2009, 3:24 pm EST

The song rules.

Akiko | 3/31/2009, 3:42 pm EST

I love Mansons work (Holywood and prior) but Eat Me Drink Me was a heavy disappointment. This song isn’t disappointing, just . . . boring.

blahblahblah | 3/31/2009, 4:17 pm EST

this album is a disgrace compared even to eat me drink me, fame has gotten to him and he lost everything that i first fell in love with. what happened to the good old portrait and anitchrist days , this is just a bunch of shit , he needs to give it up because hes not the troubled talented young man anymore hes just and old pampas rich little bitch now

MxM | 3/31/2009, 6:30 pm EST

for me i personally think these new songs arent that bad not the best but not the worst either
but honestly who would of really thought of this as a dance punk album if we hadnt seen it be said here?
i think this is just how music is it all changes eventually in every band in the world no one wants to stay in the same sound forever right
like ac/dc all their songs sound like they came from the same album atleast Marilyn Manson can change, which i think is great and about We’re From America yes it is repetitive but i think its pretty good overall and i have no doubt in me that this will be far greater than Eat Me Drink Me and im truly expectin to hear the song “15″ as Manson himself said it would be the most important song ever written by them and also the song where Twiggy will be remembered as a guitar hero i just cant wait for may 26th to roll by :D

Paul | 3/31/2009, 10:54 pm EST

This is a
great song

Dope Hatter | 4/1/2009, 12:31 am EST

Why would anyone write an article referencing to the idiots at the Hierophant?

Great song, though.

jack | 4/1/2009, 12:45 am EST

Who said this reminded him of LCD Soundsytem’s North American Scum? Other than the topic of America, there’s 99.9% no vocal or musical similarity between the two songs whatsoever.

The reviewer needs to take his headphones out of hipsterville and go listen to Queens of the Stone Age, one of Twiggy Ramirez’s favorite bands (and whose various members he’s played and toured with). There’s no doubt of that band’s influence on Twiggy’s songwriting. Better yet! Take a listen to Black Light Burns “Mesopotamia” – THAT sounds like Manson and Twiggy did a near perfect copy of that song. Listen to it and you’ll find far more striking similarities between the two songs than that LcD Soundsystem bullshit.

Wes Borland basically IS Black Light Burns and played a few shows as Manson’s guitarist last year, as well as recorded on 3 or 4 tracks for Manson’s new album that got left on the cutting room floor, according to Borland.

Oh, and this song is the best shit Manson’s done in a decade. Glad to hear he’s got some fire back in him now that his main writing partner is back in the fold. Manson’s vocals sound a lot less worn than on the last album too. It’s a refreshing and exciting song that could revitalize his career if the label doesn’t drop the ball on it.

XxxDressed To DepressxxX | 4/1/2009, 2:29 am EST

I think that although it is a repetitive song, it is much more refreshing to hear than just about anything of that rag appropriatly titled “Eat Me, Drink Me”, Yes he should’nt go around saying its as heavy as “Antichrist Superstar” but it still isnt as annoying as “If I Was Your Vampire”

Psychosocial | 4/1/2009, 2:32 am EST

I think, that considering this is a rollingstone article, It can be considered void. I mean these are the same people that went around panning Led Zepplin hahaha yes rollingstone you have lost all credibility

Ryan K | 4/1/2009, 4:11 am EST

OK, first of all this is the best work he as put out since holy wood. golden age of grotesque was kinda lame, and Eat Me Drink Me was a definite Joke ( i personally blame Tim skold, the guitar all seemed the same in ever song on that record) secondly he never said that the album would be heavy, he said it would be “hard like twiggy’s dick” ( because heavy would just be a burden) and thirdly, the lyrics on were from america are repetitive, ( but arent all manson songs repetitive?) funny and witty,
Oh and reznorfan All the songs on the slip sucked ( except dicipline, and one million) so with that, Marilyn Manson Has returned, and it will be glorious

Kay | 4/1/2009, 5:25 am EST

I enjoyed.

If you need a reminder of Marilyn Manson’s relevance, go to a Marilyn Manson show. You’ll see how relevant he/they is/are and to how many people. If you think he’s too “old,” you might reconsider your definition of “old” (he’s only 40) or tell the Rolling Stones something similar.

Or you can enjoy Manson’s music because it is relevant to *you*, rather than because it meets the “cool” criteria of MTV or radio or magazines.

lightbulb | 4/1/2009, 7:09 am EST

this is a song that works. its almost a ‘return’ single; being a single it must be catchy, easy to listen. being a return it must show a state of mind, give an example of what is coming up. i believe it is much much better than ‘eat me drink me’. I see this album and the last (eat me drink me) as a transition point, and I believe in another transition album. 3 albums close the circle. after that we’ll see.

nef | 4/1/2009, 9:38 am EST

manson is back with full force.
the seeming simplicity of this song is part of the agenda.
this album is gigantic.
thanks to bay bayliss, william willis, leincoherent, frank, j, dope hatter and jack for the intelligent commentary.

Gene | 4/1/2009, 2:15 pm EST

Like always I enjoy Marilyn Manson’s work. We’re from America is catchy and good; although I think he could have gone a lot further with the lyrics.

Eugene | 4/1/2009, 3:19 pm EST

We’re From America makes me take my skateboard back!

Jd | 4/1/2009, 3:20 pm EST

As a member of the heirophant I have to agree with Dopehat. The majority of the members over there are a joke, and cannot be taken seriously. For those complaining that this isn’t heavy or is unlike Antichrist Superstar…Get a grip, this is one song out of 15. It is a freaking single, chill would you?

Anonymous | 4/1/2009, 9:05 pm EST

completely agree with dopehatter and jd…the idiots at hierophant like everything manson does.they follow him blindly like a God..I’m sure manson himself wouldn’t like the jerks.
I am a fan but if I have to point out negative things I will…we all have negatives and positives, mason is a great artist but he is no God (just of fuck.lol)
I like the song but my problem is witht he leaked songs, so far they’re not aggressive as ruby cody said they would be.

Morrgue-ann | 4/1/2009, 10:53 pm EST

As someone who has heard 4 other songs from the album, I would like to vouch that Manson is definitely back. It is NOT the same as it was in days of old, but as Manson himself has stated, if one does not change one becomes a parody of oneself. There is the ENERGY, the ATTITUDE, the RHYTHM and yes there is POETRY – perhaps less allusory but i can’t say it’s simpler, only different, beautiful nontheless. And arma-goddamn is just goddamn awesome. I don’t think I’ll like it more than the triptych, but I don’t think thats a bar he or anyone will top. But I don’t believe that to be neccessary to make good music.

anal | 4/2/2009, 5:44 am EST

Baby Jane | 4/2/2009, 7:09 am EST

marilyns new songs are awesome and definently balsy so just shut up and get used to the fact that hes not 22 anymore

LeINCOHERENT | 4/2/2009, 7:52 am EST

Some fans at Mansonusa are over-the-top but the majority are okay. That said, I disapprove of an authortiarian-type attitude from one of the moderators; “don’t fkn post until he releases the track!!!” and ” obey or be gone!!!”.. obey my dick is what I said.

EMDM was a great collection of tracks – why are you kids saying these outrageous things about the album?

Anyway, I’m beginning to believe that Manson will skip Australia when touring this year; I will be extremely disapointed if he does. I have been saving money to ensure that, when tickets are released, I will be able to afford one. For some reason, each time he tours Australia I try endlessly to gain a backstage ticket in order to say g’day to the band. However, unfortunately, due to dirty girls with their rich and dirty dads, my luck runs out.
I’ve been listening for 16 years and have never met Manson in person. Sometimes I think to myself though; Manson may be total fuckwit in real-life and if that’s the case, I would prob listen to Orbison instead. He rarely says g’day to the fans because most of them run up to him showing off their scars and spitting shit about their experience with drugs – makes us all look like fucking turds.

Fucking low social economic community I live in stinks of bad luck and god damned pregnant girls – pisses me off!

Whoever said every man is born equal, I want to kill you like they do in the movies.

Perhaps the reason the lyrics of his latest anti-anthem, We’re From America, are simplistic is because he’s describing the American psyche?? When you see in black and white, when you know you’re the sh!t, there’s not much reason to think much beyond those facts. Credibility? We’re F’ing incredible! Just shut up, pay your taxes, snuggle up and start making the next generation of infantrymen.

holocausticity | 4/3/2009, 6:23 am EST

i think the reason why the lyrics are shallow, repetitive and dull, is because american are like that: shallow, repetitive, dull.

analyze it well, he’s not speaking from his point of view, he’s speaking from the point of view of your avergae joe. he doesn’t satirize the subject in third person but in first person.

MANSON IS BACK!!!
I love it!! I’ve heard all 4 song’s from the new album, and I have to say that I love them all.. Manson is back, and if those 4 song’s are anything to go by – then it has been worth the wait. The Tour for this album is going to kick ass..
Say what you will about Manson but you have to admit that he is never worried about critic’s opinion’s, he write’s & expresses what he feels and I wouldn’t have it any other way. All these years and still going strong. May 26th can’t come quick enough. He is always changing his style, but still keeping it in the same ‘Manson shock genre’ that we’ve come to know and love. But imagine if he stuck to the same old repeatative sound – how boring would that be for any Artist. Love it, Love it, Love Manson!!!!!

ArtByMe | 4/4/2009, 12:47 am EST

Sounds like Manson grew up. I really do dig hearing Twiggy Ramirez playing behind his vocals again.

james wright | 4/4/2009, 3:30 am EST

Were from America is an awesome song for any true Manson fan. It will be an incredibly fun song to hear live if he does play it. A few more songs like this one from manson would be ok to throw in the mix. I think it will be disappointing though if there aren’t at least a handful of really heavy songs reminiscent of 1996, Get Your Gunn or King Kill 33. Especially since he was so adament that this album was going to be so hard. Maybe it will be a cross between Holywood and The Golden Age of Grotesque and that wouldn’t be a bad thing. Just not what fans expected.

ky manson fan | 4/4/2009, 4:02 am EST

Good song!

wjdavies | 4/4/2009, 5:31 am EST

Overall, I think its a very well written song but I can’t get past the hackneyed lyrics. I know he could be using cliche on purpose, but that doesn’t stop me from rolling my eyes periodically during the song-even while he’s saying things I agree with. If the rest of the album is written similarly to this song, I think I would be ok with it. It is, however, disapointing after hearing reports of Marilyn Manson saying it was like Antichrist Superstar and that Kerry King might contribute on the album. The idea of Kerry King contributing was very apealing to me because I’ve been a fan of both Marilyn Manson and Slayer for a long time. This belief was just further reenforced when I heard they would be touring together again after its release (maybe so Kerry could play guitar on the songs he helped with when they perform live.) Alas, it appears that what I read could very well have been made up. Once again I see that I shouldn’t take what I read on wikipedia too seriously.

Eugene | 4/4/2009, 7:40 am EST

When you skate you feel as american, when you listen to We’re From America you feel as a skateboader.

spiralmind | 4/4/2009, 5:04 pm EST

This song is horrible. Its not well made and seems like it was thrown together using fruity loops. Manson needs to get back with Dr. Reznor because he will make him better.

Spinal tap worship | 4/4/2009, 7:49 pm EST

I keep thinking COMA AMERICA when i hear it, since that song by Amen is just as repetitive lyric wise. Judging by the reviews, I was expecting the song to sound very different in style, but this is essentially more of the same.. thats not a bad thing, i just expected something more imaginative. Ps this is just one song, and given that no one has heard any other full tracks its unlikely the entire album will be as repetitive lyric wise. Would be interesting if it did though. Dance Metal. LOL ;)

Guitar God | 4/4/2009, 7:56 pm EST

This is ok as an album intro, as i kept on expecting the main guitar and/or chorus to creep in, but it didnt. I think ill need to hear more before deciding if the album will be worth it, but its not bad, and certainly more energetic than his last output.

steve | 4/4/2009, 8:04 pm EST

this is pure punk, simple and repetitive, but catchy enough to go down well as a first track at live shows!

n.m. | 4/5/2009, 3:59 pm EST

Don’t worry…the other five songs floating around the web promise that this will be an album worth purchasing. Although I enjoy it for what it is, “We’re From America” is my least favorite song compared to the other that I’ve heard.

iLly | 4/7/2009, 4:49 am EST

I am currently in love with the song. Perhaps it’s because I have been listening to a lot of Nine Inch Nails lately, so when I heard it it brought to mind NIN songs like “Only” and “Not So Pretty Now”

I used to love Manson. Guess I grew out of him after GAOG came out. I didn’t like that record and haven’t liked anything he has done musically since.
I respect Manson as an artist and always will but as far as his music goes…He seems to of lost something. Twiggy’s a great song writer. But again nothing impresses me with Manson’s attempts anymore.
Think its time to give up he day job fella. Maybe concentrate on your films and writing. Your much better at that sort of thing.

I don’t see how even a non-manson fan could be interested in this song. Radio friendly? This just isn’t friendly, period. The first 20 seconds or so were ok, but as everyone stated before… became rather repetitive, boring, and cliche. Not at all what I expected from the album everyone said he was so “cocksure” about.

I remember a news source said “Eat me Drink me” was just opening the window, and “The high end of low” was the hurricane. This song makes it seem more like a dirt-devil.

Out of all the material I’ve heard by Manson, this particular song is the least interesting, the least engaging. If the other tracks do turn out to be badass, I’ll get the album… but I’ll most likely be skipping over this song every time. Shit, I hate it when I have an album like that.

It doesn’t matter how many times I say it
It never gets old
That’s what I have to say

Wow…
Wow…
Wow…

America can not see anything.

Collapsed LunG | 4/17/2009, 5:21 pm EST

Grow up you losers – Manson’s day was done about 5 minutes after Mechanical Animals was released. He’s a wannabe that only made his name on protestors with nothing better to do – trying to get on TV. The early stuff was amazing, but now the guy’s a joke. Even Twiggy being back in the fold doesn’t matter – go buy portrait or Antichrist and forget about the rest.

Go enjoy your cake and sodomy!

As a long listening fan of Manson, I have to say he’s running out of ideas. When I heard this song for the first time, I felt extremely let down. He could do better than that. :(

manson fan? | 4/23/2009, 1:02 am EST

too be completely honest, im not even a huge fan of the early industrialish stuff…
and Antichrist Superstar?
its gewd but i rly expected better from that on
Golden Age of Grotesque and Eat Me are the best albums

Another Manson Fan | 4/23/2009, 12:49 pm EST

Manson’s songs are works of TRUE ART!!!

Meaning, you have to go beyond what you hear. Manson is an artist. You have to look for hidden meanings in everything, including how cliche the lyrics are. “We’re From America” is just another artwork by Marilyn Manson and as such you have to look into it to actually appreciate it.

The song is definitely not what i expected, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The fact that manson is coming up with new stuff.

I enjoyed his stuff back when he was with Trent REznor.

The Golden Age of Grotesque didn’t have the same deepness and meaning behind it that Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holy Wood, had, but it was a good sound.

Eat Me, Drink Me had me scared.. I thought manson was fading from Antichrist to punkish vampire

But when i heard this, i was glad to see that i had my antichrist/antipatriot back. If the other songs are anything like I’ve heard they’ll be, then it’ll be an album worth the purchase.

The High End of Low is hopefully going to be Manson’s comeback, like Circus was Britney Spear’s comeback (though i can’t see how. I found it annoying). When I see my favorite shock rocker back, then I’ll be truly happy.

Sorry for rambling XD

High End of Low FTW!!!

Don’t you realize that when Marilyn Manson makes a new album, he always changes his musical style? This shows the true artistic ability of this great man!
He is musically worship!

Nicole.N loves MANSON | 5/7/2009, 12:44 pm EST

I really like it. The album kind of reminds me of some Dr. Steel stuff, “Ode to Revenge” “glutton” “Childhood (dont) A-Go-Go”

Looking forward to THEOLs release and I cant wait to see some new music videos.

i like it but at his live shows he needs to step it up

kerrin | 8/6/2009, 5:23 am EST

i am so dissapointed in him. He use to be so awesome and now hes totally changed and sounds way to popy now, its such a shame coz he used to be all i listened to and talked about and now i have to accept that the singer he was is never gonna be the same again. Hes lost me as a fan, and im sure hes lost alot of other fans who think like me also.

Shawn | 9/6/2009, 6:24 am EST

Manson is still relevant and still 1000 times more fucking creative than any of the people who criticize him.

Buzzard | 10/3/2009, 2:24 pm EST

If you dislike Manson you should spend less time thinking about him and reading about him. I dislike the damn Jonas brothers, so I don’t go out of my way to read about them or talk about them. Well besides just now. On the other hand, there is no point in trying to covince people that his music is good. I love Manson, if you don’t that’s not my problem.
