- Contrary to reports, Rihanna and Chris Brown have not recorded a duet since their February 8th altercation, People confirms. During summer 2008, the pair laid down demo vocals on producer Polow da Don’s “Bad Girl,” later recorded by the Pussycat Dolls, and they also recorded an unreleased duet called “Stronger” last year, but no new songs by the pair have been made.
- Coldplay, Wolfmother, Jack Johnson and Kylie Minogue all took part in a pair of “Sound Relief” Australian bushfire benefit concerts this weekend in Sydney and Melbourne that raised $3.3 million. The events also featured the reunion of some of Australia’s biggest bands, like Midnight Oil and Split Enz, Reuters reports.
- MTV’s Twitter revealed last night that Saturday Night Live player and Lonely Island member Andy Samberg will host the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
- Nelly Furtado is starting her own music company, dubbed Nelstar Music. According to a press release, the first act signed to the label will be Fritz Helder & the Phantoms, an electro-pop quartet that appeared with Furtado on her last tour and have also performed with Lady Gaga and Semi-Precious Weapons.
