Radiohead Respond To Miley Cyrus and Kanye West’s Post-Snub Tantrums

We’ll be honest, we kind of expected both Miley Cyrus’ and Kanye West’s feuds with Radiohead over backstage snubbings to just fade away considering Thom Yorke and friends aren’t usually ones to stir the pot. We were wrong, however: Yorke took the band’s Dead Air Space blog to issue one last parting jab before the band embarks to South America. “Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you’re not one of those people i have managed to offend by doing nothing xx,” Yorke wrote.

Both Cyrus and West publicly complained that Radiohead ignored them backstage at the Grammys. West was so hurt that he “sat the fuck down,” as Kanye said on VH1’s Storytellers when Radiohead took the stage to perform “15 Step” with the USC Marching Band. Meanwhile Cyrus threatened to “ruin” Radiohead for refusing to meet with her backstage. Surprisingly, the In Rainbows quintet issued a statement to Us Weekly, saying, “When Miley grows up, she’ll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement.” Unfortunately for Miley, the statement did not come with a definition for the word “entitlement.” UPDATE: According to Pitchfork, it was the band’s publicist, not Radiohead, who issued the statement to Us. “The band? That is inaccurate. I’m the one who said that,” Steve Martin wrote to the music blog.

Cyrus dragged Radiohead’s name through the mud last week when she went on the radio to complain about the band’s snub. “They’re like, my rock god. I am obsessed with them. This is the only person I would probably cry over. I would cry,” Miley said. And cry Miley did after a rep for Radiohead told Cyrus’ people that when it comes to meeting people, “We don’t really do that.” If Cyrus sticks to her promise to “ruin” Radiohead, she’ll have to act quickly: Radiohead plans to hit the studio and go out on tour this summer.

This is the biggest beef since Biggie and Tupac.

Kanye West is a sorry no talent loser, and Miley is a spoiled somewhat talented brat.

they don’t seem to care about the
fans even famous ones stuck up
a**holes!!

What the fuck, Jesus? I care! You’re supposed to care, god of love my ass!

... | 3/12/2009, 7:39 pm EST

lool Go Radiohead, defend yourselves!!

person | 3/12/2009, 7:41 pm EST

hey “jesus”, you’re an idiot. Kanye and Miley are complete jokes, and have absolutely no talent compared to radiohead’s long and successful career. Also, i really doubt Miley or Kanye are that big of fans anyways. If you were to ask Miley to name 15 Radiohead songs, i’m thinking she would fail miserably and say, “well they had that one ‘creep’ song”.

David | 3/12/2009, 7:50 pm EST

Hey Visiter, “Kanye West is a sorry no talent loser, and Miley is a spoiled somewhat talented brat.”?

Complete other way around!

ChocoboJangles | 3/12/2009, 8:10 pm EST

Radiohead (or any band for that matter) doesn’t owe anybody a damn thing other than great music and killer shows…if they deliver on those two things – and I think their track record in both departments would shout “check!” – then they have done their job, and done it well. Since when is *any* artist obligated to grant an audience with anybody?

If she really hates Radiohead now, Miley needs to just take the posters down off the wall, burn the shrine and move the hell on instead of acting like a spoiled princess who just got rejected by the boy she has a crush on.

some guy | 3/12/2009, 8:17 pm EST

Hey “Jesus”, what this about radiohead? They are one of the most successful bands of all time! Kanye and Miley have nothing on them. First all Miley is is just the next Britney Spears, and we saw where that ended up. Second Kanye is a stuck up rapper that hasn’t realized that his music isn’t timeless (compared to Radiohead’s), secondly that his 15 minutes are up

Smart One | 3/12/2009, 9:18 pm EST

Okay, please, really, are we fighting over this? It’s not that hard a concept. So Radiohead acted like a bunch of stuckup jerks at the Grammys. Nice, Thom Yorke, really, that’s good. And Miley is acting entitled? Psht, no. Radiohead is the one acting entitled. And then so what if Miley needs to grow up? Miley is sixteen! So shut up, and leave the girl alone. She can’t walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk without someone threatening to sue her. And Kanye… well, I have no way to defend Kanye, seeing as this is like his third feud in the last week.
Point blank, Radiohead is in the wrong here.

Da Truf | 3/12/2009, 9:42 pm EST

what’s sad is that this band of middle-aged men are fighting with a 16-year-old. im honestly fans of both radiohead and miley cyrus. but miley cyrus was obviously joking when she said she was going to “ruin” them. go listen to the actual radio interview. do you honestly think a 16-year-old, even if it is miley cyrus, is serious when he or she says he or she is going to ruin a band like radiohead?

Psh. | 3/12/2009, 9:44 pm EST

Hey Smart One. You realize you are fighting for Miley Cyrus over Radiohead? Really??? wow. I think its time for you to be quiet and listen to some cds..maybe take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror and think “Radiohead is way better then some processed Disney crap”. If I was Radiohead, I would have snubbed her too. She makes a mockery of musicians and performers everywhere

sideshowRaheem | 3/12/2009, 9:56 pm EST

I like the way people are taking sides based on whether or not they like the artist music rather then the actual events. Think about it this way if it was Coldplay who did this instead of Radiohead would you still be defending it? Or better yet if Kanye blew off another artist in the exact same way would you be on his side? Lets face it I’m a big fan of his music but Thom York was acting like a jerk off as if he was above being there with those people. You know the same way Kanye gets accused of acting sometimes, but I guess it’s okay for Radiohead to do that because they don’t make pop music, righ?

Lola | 3/12/2009, 10:04 pm EST

That’s totally rude. Miley and Kanye west are big fan and Radiohead doesnt wanna meet them. They’re way way way way higher on charts than RadioHead. I personally think it’s wrong not to meet your biggest fan!

Anonymous | 3/12/2009, 10:12 pm EST

Miley has talent ??

I JUST found out that she actually sings… I thought it was all a tv show man … are you sure she isn’t lip syncing??

Radio Head is music gods. Mileys money comes from spoiled children who have no taste. They don’t know any better!

the good north | 3/12/2009, 10:51 pm EST

I love the American sense of entitlement (sarcasm!) in this case two artists of varying genres in the music industry happen to be fans of Radiohead (big deal) and according to a lot of people commenting on this that means that the members of Radiohead should be overjoyed at the prospect of meeting Kanye ‘I sample other peoples music to make money’ West and Miley WHO?!? I am a fan of Radiohead that doesn’t mean if I met them I would expect to be able to sit down with a cup of tea and chat for a while…. being a fan is a choice its not a right!

charlie1 | 3/13/2009, 2:06 am EST

Who gives a shit

TrollingScone | 3/13/2009, 3:13 am EST

Attention everyone. Miley Cyrus is nothing outside the US. That is all.

MikeMac | 3/13/2009, 7:10 am EST

Some bands create music for the sake of music. They are not natural showmen. They are musicians. They take their job seriously and need to prepare for onstage performances of sometimes very intricate musicianship.

The private preparation is a crucial part of the performance. Listen to the music of radiohead. It is thought provoking and ground breaking. They are not snubbing anyone. They ask simply to be left to do what they do so beautifully.

Any true artist would understand that. Any mature artist would also know how to graciously handle such matter.

I had never heard of Miley Cyrus before this incident. I HAVE heard of Kanye but only because he gets press by being a noisy child.

Grow up! It’s a MUSIC industry, not spoilt brat campus party.

nat | 3/13/2009, 7:19 am EST

so wat miley and kanye aren’t that talented (as u said)there is no need to say bad things about them. i dont know anything about about radioheads LOL never had of them maybe its because they suck and there are not as popular as miley and kanye but face it they are just artists tryig to get noticed by stabbing a more famous person than them and thats miley and kanye
GO TO HELL RADIOHEADS.

Nat – Well done – you have set us all right with your razor wit, awesome knowledge and, of couse, your wonderful grammar. I think we must all agree that you have truly summed the situation up and kanye and miley must be so pleased to have you as an advocate!

-this kid | 3/13/2009, 9:06 am EST

As a complete third party on this whole thing, i have heard all three artists and must admit. That the most talented of the bunch are the guys of Radiohead. Both Miley and West put out chart-toppers, but no one will remember them in a few years. Miley and West had a right to want to meet the band, but they should’ve have acted like they deserved to meet the band, everyone has their rights to privacy.

TobyTyler | 3/13/2009, 9:48 am EST

Who is Billy Ray Cyrus and why does his Daughter follow me around?

Jack | 3/13/2009, 9:57 am EST

First of all why are they at the Grammy’s? I thought they poopooed this kind of stuff! But anyway, the fact is Radiohead would not be where they are without their fans, and to snub someone and say we really don’t do that is bullshit. Because If you cannot take the time to appreciate the people who put you where you are then you do not deserve it! I don’t care how ‘talented’ and ‘genius’ some of you nerds think they are it still doesn’t take away the fact that people who work their asses off come to your shows and pay good money and then all they want to do is tell you how fucking great you are and how much they love you? Your an asshole! If its all about the music then you would be happy playing at a pub somewhere because its ‘about the music’, once you go and put out albums have concerts and expect people to buy them, download whatever then essentially we are your employer because without us fans you wouldn’t get paid! And yes I know about the fans pay what they think we are worth crap, nice marketing! Besides that we all know the majority of your riches comes from sales of concert tickets and the other crap that is sold not really off the CD sales. Regardless if the fan is a celebrity fan or an everyday Joe, for which they don’t do that for the everyday Joe either! I guess Thom Yorke forgot that he wasn’t very special but he is a creep, that looks like a sad little wet rat. So if you are at their show and ask for an autograph don’t be surprised if they treat you like they did Miley or Kanye because them being who they are really had nothing to do with it it was Radiohead being who they are unappreciative dick heads.

He’s a reasonable man, get off his case, get off his case.

thom | 3/13/2009, 10:42 am EST

well done thom
they both tried to attach there name with radiohead, and if they were even fans, theyd know that radiohead would not appreciate there music anyway… u cant seriously say to me that cyrus is a serious radiohead fan (most likely liked 15 Step because “its kinda dancey you know?’)

these people where never fans… just trying to drop there name in the same article, and if they were true fans why would they chuck a hissie fit like that?

dont go saying that thom dosn’t appreciate his fands cause thats just bollocks…

if anybody had seen Meeting People is Easy (radiohead tour 1997/98 doco) they would clearly understand that thom dosnt apprecitate these american so called celebs

To Rolling Stone | 3/13/2009, 10:52 am EST

Radiohead, the band did not issue a statement to the tabloid US Weekly, it was from their stupid publicist called Steve Martin.

stupid Miley/Kanye | 3/13/2009, 11:16 am EST

I dont care one way or the other about RadioHead,,,,good band but whatever,,,,,,,,Miley and Kanye on the other hand,,,,totally suck. Screw those over-hyped twits,,,,and their fans.

sarah | 3/13/2009, 11:49 am EST

miley,i understand but fuck, they ignored kanye?!that guy has an amazing talent though he’s fucktard attitude pissess us off

In Umbrellas | 3/13/2009, 12:10 pm EST

Radiohead have been ignoring me FOR YEARS!

patrick | 3/13/2009, 1:10 pm EST

if miley and kanye were true fans than they would know better….the band just feels really awkward doing those celeb “meet and greets”. its not that they dont care about their fans, because they obviously do, just look on the internet…

patrick | 3/13/2009, 1:18 pm EST

if fact i dont know any other band in the entire world that has done more for their fans. All the contest they have had with their videos and remixes that they allow for ANYONE to do. not to mention that to go to the concert i only payed $35, compared to britney spears who charges like $200 just to see her semi-sing and semi-dance around…

patrick | 3/13/2009, 1:21 pm EST

thom must be just laughing his ass off at all this..

seriously | 3/13/2009, 1:36 pm EST

who wastes their time reading this stuff and then writing a comment? uh, nevermind

Scatterbrain | 3/13/2009, 1:41 pm EST

Bravo to Tara and her comment below, best one I’ve read. And I agree with Patrick. The true Radiohead fans out there should know that Radiohead don’t give a shit about celebrities and the mainstream media. I’m even surprised they even showed up to the Grammys.

Bangers-N-Mash | 3/13/2009, 2:16 pm EST

Mickey Mouse strikes again! He’ll smite Radiohead, for sure.

Eric B. | 3/13/2009, 3:50 pm EST

Miley is a spoiled brat. Kanye’s got no talent.

Radiohead KICKS ASS!!!

Slow news day | 3/13/2009, 4:11 pm EST

Fire the publicist. What an idiotic thing to say to a tabloid. He ought to know how the media works and should have chosen his words wisely. And I can’t believe Rolling Stone fell for it. I heard that comment and I knew right away it was a mis-quote.

Will | 3/13/2009, 5:06 pm EST

Radiohead dislikes the whole celebrity thing. They make music, and that is how they see it. They don’t really think of themselves as celebrities. They care about their fans, but why would Radiohead care about meeting Miley Cyrus. Also, for the people that say Radiohead is not as big as Kanye and Miley. Ok Computer is in the top 100 albums of all time. Miley Cyrus couldn’t dream of that. They are also known not to do things like that. She really isn’t that high and mighty. It is laughable that she said she will ruin them. And Radiohead has more charities and fan things than any other band I have ever heard besides Thrice. This will go away.

To RS | 3/13/2009, 5:28 pm EST

Is this Miley’s way of “ruining” Radiohead? It seems the tables have turned.

Their neglect just goes to prove that they are actual true artists and I admire their faithfulness to the music, not the media. I go to an art school… everyone here is a complete introvert, that’s just how artists are, how they have been and will always be. Outspoken Miley should realize her lack of artistic ability and give them a break already.

Hey | 3/13/2009, 6:55 pm EST

It’s an issue of cultural differences. At present, we cultually mismatch in personality. We like to be happy, outthere and look down on depression as an excuse to be pathetic. Pop music tends to be happy… It’s like party atmosphere over here… If iwas the 90s and miley and kanye were singing about depression and poverty. We wudda matched. Cause culturally the uk tends to be calm, quiet conservative attention seekers r looked down on. So really no one is at fault here except maybe radiohead for assuming that US artist shud be calm, when there’s a 24/7 party over here..give it5 years and it’ll be like 1999 again and well all be cool. Sometimes though provoking needs to take a back seat, enjoy this period of miley and kanye and every one else grouped with them… because moods change quick.

Niggy Stardust | 3/13/2009, 7:07 pm EST

I’m a huge Radiohead fan and I think what they did was kind of snobish. If i had a chance to meet Thom Yorke and he refused to see me, I would be pretty upset too. I mean seriously that was pretty lame. Miley Cyrus still sucks though.

Cheesecrop | 3/13/2009, 7:09 pm EST

Six-to-one, half-a-dozen to the other…

On one hand, It’s obvious that Miley & Kanye are trying to attach themselves to the aura that’s surrounding Radiohead in the hopes that some of it will rub off. On the other hand, Radiohead’s members are jerks for looking their noses down on the fans.

I’d still side w/Radiohead on this one, if only cause I doubt Cyrus & West are all that sincere in regards to their claims. I would be pleasantly suprised to find I was wrong in that regard.

I hope that Radiohead’s behaviour is confined more to other stars & less to those of us within the general populace.

Bukowski Thompson | 3/13/2009, 9:20 pm EST

I buy radiohead albums at least once of year, because I like them and i wear their cd’s out. I actually still like to go to the record store and by albums. Over the years, I’ve gave them quite a bit of money… well for me it is. If I ever have the chance to meet the band and they tell me to fuck off, I’ll kick thom’s ass and ask for my money back. But… I’m cooler than Miley and Kanye and I’m a geek… so that probably wouldn’t happen.

The Real Deal | 3/13/2009, 9:46 pm EST

Uh, Miley Billy-Ray’s Daughter Cyrus is the product of nepotism and the machine. Machine on display, totally. These days, people are wowed by pop singers who POSE in videos with guitars. Me, I guess I’m old-school: I respect (and buy CDs from) those who actually PLAY them with real competence. Rock on, Radiohead, I would have snubbed her fake ass too.

Alyssa | 3/13/2009, 10:31 pm EST

Why are people incapable of seeing both sides? To the fans of Radiohead, if this were anyone else, you would think what they did was jacked up. On the other hand, Kanye West and Miley Cyrus seem so immature. Useless drama….

i am by no means a miley fanboy, but i do wish her all the luck in the world in ruining radiohead. although, theres not much there to ruin… it is radiohead after all. oh, and the comment about radiohead’s “music” being “thought provoking”: the only thought their “music” has ever provokied in me was to change radio stations as quickly as possably, lest some of their lack of talent and/or musical ability rub off on me.

MileyRocks MyWorld:D | 3/14/2009, 2:10 am EST

Im a HUGE Miley fan as my name states, but CLEARLY given by the verified explanation of what went down. MILEY was being A WITCH w/o the W. Radiohead clearly dont like doin intro.’s so thats their perogtive but she think she can “ruin” him. WHO THE HELL DOES SHE THINK SHE IS?! And Kanye, i luv his music, but cant stand the cocky beast. Lets face it, would u want 2 meet him

Ello Govna | 3/14/2009, 3:20 am EST

Radiohead – If you wouldnt meet me.. I could really give a shit cause your music is amazing an I’m sure you got better shit to do.

im stupid too
but i know

Pam | 3/14/2009, 2:25 pm EST

Well, it´s very difficult to judge the “case Radiohead”. Of course it wasn´t very polite of Radiohead to ignore Miley Cyrus and Kanye West. On the other hand this is certainly not the biggest crime on earth, so it´s an exaggerated reaction of Cyrus and West to accuse Radiohead in public. Obviously these people are too shy to go to Thom Yorke himself to complain. But this is a sad trend of our times that every ridiculous matter has to appear in the media. But maybe the whole story just reveals something about the endless and unnecessary tensions between “mainstream” and “alternative”. But if such categories are really necessary to judge the quality of music, BOTH sides will have to respect each other!

I have some Radiohead albums and all of them are outstanding. I loved their performance at the Grammys, the big orchestra created a very strong sound and Thom Yorke´s vocals were very intense. This was clearly one of the best performances of the whole show.

Holly | 3/14/2009, 2:30 pm EST

Wow. Actually yes, that is the sun, not MILEY freakin CYRUS our planet is orbiting! What a spoiled child. GROW UP! You can not go around trying to “ruin” people and then claim to be a good person kids should look up to!

Fuck Radiohead.

Fuck Miley.

Fuck Kanye.

Radiohead are a bunch of avant-garde nerds who think they are the next Pink Floyd.

Not even close. You have tried to like their music, but can’t stomach it. So I turn on real psyche shit like EARLY FLOYD.

eightball | 3/14/2009, 5:42 pm EST

how could a no talent popster like miley cyrus ruin the great Radiohead?

stukey | 3/14/2009, 5:48 pm EST

Well, radiohead is definitely not one of the most successful bands of all time, unless you’re talking about critical accalaim. they are commercially successful, but not even in the top 20

radiohead-ahead | 3/14/2009, 6:09 pm EST

None of you even know anything about why RH didnt meet up with either of them – its not like they just have all night to piss around, probably just didn’t have time so BOO F-ING HOO.

Clearly if Miley & KYW are ‘way way way…” above RH, then all the fans-of-the-month cheeze-whizzers must have a leg up on the the single most revolutionary band in modern times. Hats off to your delicate music apprec’ skills. When you’ve grown out of your CD of the Month Club, Radiohead will still be making cutting edge music.

Knives Out - There There | 3/14/2009, 6:32 pm EST

LOVING the comment: “…well, I only change the station when R-Head comes on…” HILARIOUS! What stations playing Miley & Kanye (both) would also play Radiohead for you to even recognize them? Does anyone even listen to radio anymore other than sat-radio on online?

Some people just love the ABC-123 over true artists anyway so I guess you can just go and git-er-done and leave those with souls to the real musicians.

LifeinaglassHouse | 3/14/2009, 6:38 pm EST

Funny that Miley & Kanye would love Radiohead enough to be upset they didn’t get to meet them – but their “fans” outright hate and don’t get radiohead. Intersting. And petty. I guess Miley & Kanye have a little better taste than their own fans.

Fake Plastic Miley | 3/14/2009, 9:53 pm EST

Thom Yorke’s response to Miley’s immature rant on the radio talk show was calm, mature and 100% true. She needs to realize that the world does not revolve around her.

Yorke is known for being shy and many of us can understand why he wouldn’t want to meet someone like Miley Cyrus. And Yorke isn’t a jerk to his fans. I mean, he did give away “In Rainbows” for nothing. He just wants his personal space and would rather not waste his time talking to Miss Miley.

rainey | 3/14/2009, 10:36 pm EST

to be honest I’ve never heard of radioheads :( and I’m a huge huge fan of miley I’m even obssesed with her, and if I’ll get the chance to meet her and she’ll tell me “I don’t really do that” of course no matter how obssesed I am with her Im sure I’ll be pissed and hate her for that, maybe that’s how she felt when radioheads turned her down. OK I understand they need their privacy but they should have said “we’re sorry this is our first time to perform here at the grammys can we meet later after we perfom?” cause they are your biggest fan they buy your album and stuff so you should atleast give them a chance to meet you and thank them for appreciating you talent :)

“peace”
(my own oppinion) :) ^-^

rainey | 3/14/2009, 10:39 pm EST

César | 3/15/2009, 12:36 am EST

I’m just gonna say this

Pleasy miley, don’t mess with them…. you’re a pop star OK, cool… but they’re like royalty so please…. stop the childish reactions….

Jane Mary G | 3/15/2009, 1:47 am EST

This story SOOOOO goes hand in hand with the Trent Reznor/Chris Cornell story this week and Pam here said it best:

the whole story just reveals something about the endless and unnecessary tensions between “mainstream” and “alternative”.

Right on! Maybe Radiohead didn’t want to meet either Kanye or Miley because they didn’t have a chance blah blah words get misused; however, I would be more annoyed if they snubbed them just because they didn’t want to be guilty by association. Miley and Kanye are really annoying but a snotty rock singer is more of a bothersome paradox.

IN LIMBO | 3/15/2009, 8:10 am EST

How come so many RS readers who have never heard of Radiohead?

third time lucky. | 3/15/2009, 11:10 am EST

miley will “ruin” radiohead!

baaahahahahaa! what an arrogant stupid little cow she is. she’d be nothing without daddy’s horrendous achey-breaky legacy, and should shut the fuck up and concentrate more on becoming a real artist, rather than a pop puppet for a major label.

i’m not a huge radiohead fan, but at least they create all their own music, and have a shred of originality in their music.

Where are Her Parents? | 3/15/2009, 11:32 am EST

In letting her go on like this in public? If they had any goddamn sense and were doing their jobs as parents, they’d force her to issue a public apology for acting like a self-centered brat. This whole generation of kids do have some sick sense of entitlement and need to be taught some humility.

Good job Radiohead! That’s my position. Miley Cyrus is an absolute joke, nothing else. You have this child who thinks she is the queen of the world saying she is going to ruin Radiohead? Radiohead ARE too good for Miley CRYus.

Bov | 3/15/2009, 12:16 pm EST

I also find it hilarious that these kids who are taking Miley Cyrus’ side have not heard of Radiohead. No, they’ve only been together since what? The early 90s? And they have done so much more than what she will ever do. It’s hilarious really, these clueless little brats who think they know it all, supporting this huge fake, Miley Cyrus.

WhiteVolta7 | 3/15/2009, 6:07 pm EST

Really? I really would feel bad for Thom Yorke…if he cared about any of this. Cliche to say but Kanye and Miley are peasants compared to Yorke. Kanye is a pop-superstar who thrives off drama and controversy, but has failed to put out anything as innovative as something like Kid A. Miley Cyrus needs Midol, and a cat scan, and a look in the mirror.

anonimous | 3/15/2009, 7:23 pm EST

Radiohead,Coldplay,Killers are a bunch of U2 wannabes Miley and Kanye sucks too

Ha | 3/15/2009, 11:54 pm EST

You know that Radiohead and Coldplay feel ashamed of themselves when U2 releases their albums. Bet they say: “No, we came up with that sound all by ourselves.” They should send U2 thank you cards on a weekly bases. I like Radiohead and Coldplay; I buy their records and enjoy, because they sound like U2. While I wait on new U2 albums they come in good hands. Everyone has their place.

dave nz | 3/16/2009, 3:59 am EST

how can anyone put radiohead & coldplay in the same catagory.radiohead are the masters and coldplay wish they were.chris martin is not in the same league but is radio savvy so tone deaf people love him.as for u2 it is totally different music to radiohead but still sooo much better than coldplay.u2 ruled 80s&mid 90s.RADIOHEAD TOOK MUSIC TO ANOTHER LEVEL.

Joe Shmo | 3/16/2009, 9:41 am EST

Team Radiohead all the way! It is known that these guys are not into the Hollywood scene and tend to stay away from the celebrity shtick. Thom Yorke can be moody at times and doesn’t sugar coat anything but it doesn’t mean he and the rest of the band treat their “average joe” fans badly. They just don’t care for the commercial products that is Miley and Kayne. They have a right to decline to meet them and keep the focus on their music.

LRQ | 3/16/2009, 10:23 am EST

You know what Miley, Kanye and Radiohead have in common?????
THEY all SUCK LIVE

rusty | 3/16/2009, 5:27 pm EST

I will just add that Radiohead’s performance of 15 Steps at the Grammy’s was the best of the evening. There are artists and then there are people who get paid to be pretty.

miley's pimp | 3/16/2009, 7:23 pm EST

i saw radiohead live YESTERDAY, and they are awesome!

jean baptist | 3/16/2009, 8:20 pm EST

That girl is soo funny, he want to destroy one of the biggest band on history of rock, & made it public on radio, talking about spolied child… Radiohead totally kicked @ss in Foro Sol de México, after what i see last night, she will need the help form the gods of rock. Good luck in your new objetive in life Juana Montana.

Chad Kroeger | 3/16/2009, 10:48 pm EST

This is truly strange. First off, all the various comments degrading Radiohead saying that what they do isn’t “music” and that you should instead listen to Pink Floyd. Give me a fucking break. And saying that Radiohead is just a U2 wannabe? Have you listened to the two bands? Radiohead is one of the only bands out there that actually make they’re own music and have they’re own sound.

PS.

Miley Cyrus should SERIOUSLY grow up.
I think it’s a little too late for Kanye, though.

raisedlefteyebrow | 3/17/2009, 11:09 am EST

Dude, I think you should take Bono’s cock out of your mouth now. When Radiohead releases a song that sound like the pathetic get on your boots, then you can talk.

sara | 3/17/2009, 8:27 pm EST

miley and kanye just need to get a life, radiohead has been here WAY longer and has way more talent then those two have put together, their so simple minded they can’t comprehend the talent radiohead has, and that they dont’ care to have “private meetings”………miley is just a little annoying teenage brat, im so sick of bands/singers that are all about image and who can’t even sing……. its pathetic

Mexican Fan | 3/17/2009, 11:39 pm EST

How dare you people even suggest that Miley Cyrus and Radiohead are in the same league. Really you people give to much importance to such a petty incident and an even pettier pop fucking singer. I mean come Radiohead rule, I was at their concert last night and it was amazing.
One more thing, and this has already been stated, Radiohead gave In Rainbows practically for free if not for free. Tell me when will shit for brains Miley do that.

Radiohead rules!!!

Jimmy Travis | 3/18/2009, 4:33 pm EST

What’s funny is that, if she was really such a big Radiohead fan, like she claims, she would know that Thom Yorke wouldn’t be caught dead hanging out with Hannah Montana.

Ironic?

Jimmy Travis | 3/18/2009, 4:37 pm EST

Also, those of you claiming that Radiohead rip off U2 are out of your minds.

Please tell me which U2 songs sound similar to anything Radiohead has done since The Bends?

OK Computer? Kid A? Hail to the Thief?

Which U2 album do those sound like? If that’s the case, I really would like to purchase that U2 album.

linda | 3/18/2009, 11:56 pm EST

who is this little sixteen year old threating to ruin Radiohead? She can not sing the only reason she is so famous is because she is on Disney. Gag, i

radioheadrulz | 3/19/2009, 1:27 am EST

Radiohead has evolved in order to NOT be like other bands that they’ve influenced. U2’s awesome but completely different.

Miley Cyrus just embarrasses herself- who the f-k does she think she is, what an evil little twat!

nameless | 3/22/2009, 4:48 pm EST

“i am by no means a miley fanboy, but i do wish her all the luck in the world in ruining radiohead. although, theres not much there to ruin… it is radiohead after all. oh, and the comment about radiohead’s “music” being “thought provoking”: the only thought their “music” has ever provokied in me was to change radio stations as quickly as possably, lest some of their lack of talent and/or musical ability rub off on me.”

i notice how the people slamming radiohead commonly say when they hear them on the radio they turn the station… thats because YOU LISTEN TO THE FUCKING RADIO… and those who are stuck on the radio lack depth in their musical taste.. thats why radiohead isnt popular on the radio.. i mean you dont have to like them.. but you dont know enough to judge them and say their shit.. learn to respect artists whether or not you understand them. i understand kanye, and i understand satan, excuse me, miley cyrus.. fuck both of them.

asshole | 3/26/2009, 9:39 pm EST

most people are dumb. live with it.

Patrick Ross | 3/31/2009, 6:28 pm EST

“When Radiohead releases a song that sound like the pathetic get on your boots, then you can talk.”

How about that? He can talk.

human | 4/5/2009, 3:09 pm EST

Why does Miley think she is so big? Well she sure is big in plastic surgery. She is so fake.

sperry | 4/14/2009, 4:19 pm EST

Miley Cyrus needs to shut that hole in her head. She’ll be nowhere in about five years just like all the other teen bullshit pop in the past… (think backstreet boys, tiffany etc) the only one who made a lasting career is britney spears but thats because shes a fuckin entertaining trainwreck

keisha | 4/16/2009, 2:20 pm EST

These people are getting crazier everyday. Ain’[t no one bigger than God and just because your name is kanye west and miley, that dont mean i have to talk to you or befriend you

anon | 4/16/2009, 11:10 pm EST

the thing is, i bet radiohead would treat miley cyrus the same as anyone else they encounter if the encounter weren’t forced upon them. they aren’t interested in having someone kiss their ass, as well they shouldn’t feel honored that someone who thinks so much of herself wants to kiss their ass. she expects the feeling of being starstruck to be equal, and obviously it wasn’t. some people only want their art put on display, not their whole lives, just the part they choose to show

im ur boss | 4/22/2009, 10:33 am EST

Radiohead the Suckest and on earth!!!

just put urself in miley shoe, how do u fell if u want to meet ur favorite band on earth then they turn u down? they say fuck u, i dont want to meet u. it does not feel good, right!!!that how miley!!!
Miley RULES!!!

Daniel | 5/5/2009, 11:56 pm EST

Wow, seriously…
Know I quite like some of Miley’s songs.. admittedly she’s talentless but they’re catchy.. Kanye West is an idiot when it boils down to it, but his music inspires me. But Radiohead, there is whole new game.
I read day in day out people writing about how awful Radiohead and Thomas Yorke is and I think to myself; ‘Dan.. do these people understand music? And if so, why do they not appreciate one of histories greatest, prog-alt bands?’
I can understand if you don’t like the music, but not appreciating it? What is wrong with you?! As for the bands arrogance, well I’ve watched a lot of documentaries with Thom Yorke.. and as much as I love him and his works I don’t think we’d get on to well, we’re both big characters, I think it would clash… but hey, fair play to them, I wouldn’t want to have Miley Cyrus rambling on at me using the word ‘like’ as most people use punctuation.
May Radiohead have years left in them and continue to record ever-astonishing albums.
Thank you very much,
Daniel.

cjb | 5/6/2009, 8:19 am EST

rolling stone need to stop reporting womens weekly news pieces and leave miley and kanye to the kid magazines where they belong

lol | 5/8/2009, 3:45 pm EST

MILEY & KAYNE U RULE dont take ne shit frm awful radiohead!!! tht band sux n hav nvr made awesum music lik u guys hav…

Sorry, I just couldn’t keep that up.

EVERYBODY CALM DOWN | 6/6/2009, 9:19 pm EST

I come from the internet and the land of acid jazz and doom metal. what we have here, is a failure to understand that both sides are at fault. Miley MAY BE 16, but she still monopolizes on people who don’t know any better. Kanye is a narcissistic twatwaffle who, by his standards, is in the right. It’s a tabloid war, and in case many of you haven’t noticed, these things are a dime a dozen. now, I don’t listen to radiohead, and I hate Kanye with a passion, and miley is a pre-packaged cash-cow.if it weren’t for daddys money and disney, nobody would know who the fuck she is. but here’s the thing: NOBODY REALLY CARES! I would like to assassinate kanye for assaulting my ears with his soulless music, but my wife LOVES his narcissistic shit, calling it “beautiful and inspiring” I listen to things like Jesu and Boards of Canada. just take a deep breath, and think “wow, am I really worked up over a silly squabble like this?” all three have yet to impress me, and all of them are at fault.

MCM | 6/14/2009, 11:40 am EST

I think everyone is in the wrong here… enough said. But for Radiohead to be so god damn snootie… well, who wants to listen to them after that? They don’t give a f*ck about their fans, all they care about is money. “We don’t meet fans, that’s not us.” F*CK YOU TOO! Well, we’ll see if fans buy their cd anymore. What f-ing people.

MCM | 6/14/2009, 11:47 am EST

Oh and I forgot… Radiohead music sucks anyways. To appreciate something, you have to like it.

Elliott | 6/19/2009, 3:17 am EST

MCM, how can you say all Radiohead care about is money? They gave away there last album ‘in Rainbows’ away for practically nothing telling people they could pay anything they wanted for the album! Basically giving it away for free! They didn’t get a penny of the money. Have Kanye or Miley ever done that? They are more than in a position to give back to the fans with their millions! And they did not say, we don’t meet fans, they said ‘that not what we do’. Get your facts straight! They have never mixed in celeb circles and never will. They create beautiful, intelligent music about the important things in life.

MCM | 6/26/2009, 8:01 am EST

To Elliott… Why must you read so much into what Radiohead says… the fact is – “that’s not what we do…” – it’s so obvious to see! You don’t need to be bias and back them up. The truth is… everyone is at fault, and Radiohead music *TO ME* sucks – and others will vouch for that. He should of gone out of his way to do that for Miley and Kanye, and the side that you didn’t hear that Rolling Stone failed to mention was – he already had some celebrity in the room with them… so now they lied and don’t give one shits about their fans. Maybe you need to get your fact straight before throwing shit in my face. I have not found one normal person to actually like their music… and if you sit there and say you love their music… well then, good for you! I know millions of people do, and I won’t argue with that. But do not sit there and tell me your side of the story, because Elliott, I really don’t give a shit.

MCM | 6/26/2009, 8:05 am EST

$13.98 to $9.99… I would not consider that to be “FREE”… they probably had a 10 second window…

nietzsche | 9/1/2009, 9:33 am EST

hahahaha MCMC you’re a fuckin dildo – Thom Yorke can say whatever he wants cos he’s Thom Yorke – kanye n miley are applicable for a simple audience such as yourself – Elliot is on the right page and has already provided a valid argument… so shave it buddy ;)

BMurphy | 9/18/2009, 3:26 am EST

I think someone should shoot her in the face to easyly end the threat that is not going to effect Radiohead or change anything on this earth.

ktoto | 9/22/2009, 1:58 am EST

no comments & no more riding thats really stupid comments-chow you pupile short with brain!!!!

I have no life | 10/7/2009, 7:59 pm EST

I read every single comment, I am an actual readiohead fan and i dislike kanye west and miley cyrus, because there music sucks along with there personalities

Miley | 10/11/2009, 10:03 pm EST

Sry I have no talent and try to create “scandals” with famous people. Why won’t anyone take me seriously?!

harshy | 10/17/2009, 8:27 pm EST

Personally i think radiohead are a talented and original band, which is something that can’t be said of cyrus by any stretch of the imagination. She’s just a spoilt, ignorant little brat who wouldn’t be anywhere today without her daddy’s status. Don’t get me wrong, they could have sugarcoated it a bit more, but if she was a real fan she’d have known how introverted they are and wouldn’t be trying to ruin them for it anyway because if you like a band it should be about the music and nothing else.

Genesis | 11/25/2009, 3:46 pm EST

From what I’ve heard…Thom Yorke is pretty rude to everybody.

Bighead | 11/27/2009, 10:25 am EST

Miley Cyrus is going to Ruin Radiohead?

The only way she could do that is if they let her join them LOL
