Britney Spears’ “Circus” Spectacle Draws Madonna to New York Show: Full Report

As the original Queen of Pop, the specter of Madonna looms large over everything Britney Spears does, whether the younger star is courting controversy with saucy lyrics, writhing her way through a salacious video or importing nuggets of Eastern cultures. Last night in Uniondale, Long Island, at Spears’ fifth show on her Circus tour, Madonna wasn’t just hovering figuratively: just before the final song, a spotlight beamed into the audience and lighted the way as Madonna herself was whisked from her seat to the door.

Over the prior 90 minutes, Spears danced her way through her own interpretation of an art form Madonna has birthed and perfected over her 25-year career — the pop concert as ultimate spectacle. The tour, directed by longtime Madonna collaborator Jamie King, featured several hallmarks of the Material Girl’s recent road trips, from Britney’s arrival (a dramatic drop from the ceiling) and opening number, “Circus” (Spears grasped a riding crop as dancers in bondage gear toted her around the stage) to a brief sojourn to South Asia (for a Bollywood-inspired remix of “Me Against the Music”) and elaborate video interludes that passed time as Spears repeatedly exchanged one sparkly, skimpy outfit for another. (Check out photos from Britney’s Circus here.)

What Britney didn’t do was sing live, actively engage the audience or tightly hit most of her choreography. But these flaws were of little concern to the crowd of 17,000 screeching fans clutching cameras and bags of Circus-branded popcorn. Ten minutes before Spears took the three-ringed stage in the center of the arena, chants of “Britney” echoed around Nassau Coliseum, and when the singer emerged the crowd of tweens, teens and twentysomething females seemed simply thrilled to see her. When Circus was released in December 2008, the album’s title could have referred to the media frenzy surrounding Spears’ life, or the fog of instability that landed her in the hospital and rehab during a two-year breakdown. Today, Spears’ Circus is a place where acrobats dangle from the ceiling. It’s a remarkable turnaround in a short period of time, and one that highlights the debate over just how much of the Britney Spears show is an illusion. But considering where she’s been over the past few years, Britney was back.

Spears wasn’t interested in gazing at the past, focusing the majority of her set on her most recent two albums, Circus and Blackout. “Circus” was spectacle to the point of distraction, with so many aerialists, jets of steam, flashing lights and moving hoops that it was hard to spot Spears dancing in the fray. One song later, she was trapped in a cage for “Piece of Me,” freeing herself in the end. Nearly half the numbers featured the star being dragged around the stage on some wheeled prop, and a variety of poles made their way into the set, aptly illustrating the split demographic Spears has long struggled to reconcile: were they meant to be interpreted as stripper poles or kitschy Big Top tent poles? Was Britney more comfortable wiggling under a male dancer during “Touch of My Hand” or curled in the nook of a giant fantastical umbrella for emotional ballad “Everytime”?

Some of the show’s most bizarre moments seemed to have little connection to the set’s flow. Spears lip synched to Marilyn Manson’s ghoulish cover of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” in a video recalling Eyes Wide Shut; a lone guitarist mounted the stage and wailed for several minutes before kicking into a rocked-out version of “Do Something”; backup dancers grooved to current hits like T.I. and Jay-Z’s “Swagga Like Us,” Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” and Ne-Yo’s “Closer” just before the anxiously awaited “Toxic.” Some scenes seemed stacked with meaning, like when Spears was caught in a frame — a giant picture frame, rather than a photographers’ lens — for “Breathe on Me”, while others seemed whimsical, like at the end of “Boys,” when Spears playfully bopped her male dancers on the head with a giant pink mallet.

The room turned truly electric just twice after the opening number — for a relatively chaste version of “Slave 4 U” that featured some of the night’s best choreography, and the penultimate song, a spare remix of “… Baby One More Time” that yanked almost everything but Spears’ vocal and a booming beat. For all the clothes she stripped off onstage, “Baby” left Spears the most bare and served as another strong reminder of how her entire career has been built on conflicting messages of desire and naiveté. America hasn’t been able to let Spears fly her freak flag because her sexuality and freedom have always been at odds and under others’ control. So when the Princess of Pop emerged for her final number, “Womanizer,” dressed up in a policewoman’s guise, she seemed eager to grab some power back for herself. But by then the most powerful woman in the room, the one she’d been so inspired by, had already made her exit.

Set List:

“Circus”
“Piece of Me”
“Radar”
“Ooh Ooh Baby”
“Hot as Ice”
“Boys”
“If U Seek Amy”
“Me Against the Music”
“Everytime”
“Freakshow”
“Get Naked”
“Breathe on Me”
“Touch of My Hand”
“Do Something”
“Slave 4 U”
“Toxic”
” … Baby One More Time”
“Womanizer”

I love Britney’s new album but Madonna will forever be the Queen of Pop. Britney is an entertainer, Madonna is an Icon

Countess | 3/12/2009, 12:09 pm EST

Britney’s even greater than Madonna. she’s the new Queen of Pop, she’s the Michael Jackson of her generation!!

Trinity | 3/12/2009, 12:16 pm EST

People like the paparazzi’s need a life when it comes to Britney Spears, she is the princesses of Pop and Madonna is the Queen of Pop. Whatever song Britney does it is awesome.

Bronwen Torc | 3/12/2009, 12:22 pm EST

Another so-called music critic fails to understand modern music and teen culture. The “fog” has been the media, unable to accept Britney was no way as destroyed as they tried to make out. And that fans will suffer with their idols, whether Brando, Rourke or Spears. Time for RS to get some brains behind the blogs.

BaliFan | 3/12/2009, 12:23 pm EST

If the Britney were of pudding flavor, she would being chocolate!

NURSELISA | 3/12/2009, 12:33 pm EST

YEAH, LETS BE HONEST. MADONNA IS AN ICON. BRITNEY IS A GREAT ENTERTAINER, KNOWN FOR HER DANCING, BUT EVEN THAT LATELY HASNT BEEN TO UP TO PAR. AFTER READING A VARIETY OF ARTICLES ABOUT CIRCUS, SEEMS LIKE SHES REALLY GETTING BACK ON HER FEET, BUT STILL NOT THE EXPLOSIVE COME BACK SHE REALY NEEDED. SHE WILL BE OKAY, SHES PULLING HER STUFF BACK TOGETHER. BUT BETTER THAN MADONNA, NO. TWENTY YEARS FROM NOW MADONNA WILL HAVE LEFT AN EVEN GREATER MARK, AND BRITNEY WILL BE KNOWN UNFORTUNATELY MOSTLY FOR HER UPS AND DOWNS

Amy | 3/12/2009, 12:46 pm EST

In 1984 Madonna said she wanted to rule the world, 25 years later she still does. Don’t get me wrong I like Britney a lot and I’ll be seeing her in April, I definitely think she earned her title as Princess of Pop. Madonna however is in a different league, one of the greatest icons of the 20th and 21st Century up there with Elvis, Marilyn, the Beatles. Madonna’s music and career moves have influenced every female pop star to follow. For people like Countess to dimish her accomplishments is truely a joke. Madonna will forever be the Queen of Pop.

ksimt | 3/12/2009, 12:59 pm EST

Why do people put up with the fact that Britney is a fake and the biggest lip syncer on the planet.
If you claim yourself as a singer, then sing. It is just so shameful.

Anonymous | 3/12/2009, 1:00 pm EST

Let’s be honest people…what Britney: The Pop Princess touches sells for sure!!… media has made a huge effort to disgrace her, yes she’s made some mistakes, who doesn’t?? but we don’t have the lens over us all the time, that’s the big difference. I LOVE & admire Britney… is not just all about falling, is how you make urself up.
And yes i agree with Shayne… Madonna is an icon: The Queen of Pop.

Jay T | 3/12/2009, 1:02 pm EST

Madonna absolutely paved the way for Britney! Look at ALL of Madonnas live shows then take a look at Britney`s and Kylie Minge-ogres! They pale in comparison.I bet any of you, if you watch, that there will be no arguments! Madonna will ALWAYS be the Queen of Pop..Britney is cool as a princess, but can any female entertainer manage such longevity as Madonna?? I think not!

Roberto G | 3/12/2009, 1:05 pm EST

I think everybody is good in their own way, and the proof is the followers/fans, people that really like these artists. But Madonna is way smarter and so is her art/product and legacy.

C | 3/12/2009, 1:13 pm EST

I agree with the people saying Madonna is still the Queen of Pop. As much as I like Britney and have nothing against her, she has nothing on Madonna. M is an icon, and thats the way its gonna stay. But I’m quite happy with Brit being Princess of Pop, and I’m sure Madonna and Britney are too. =)

Anonymous | 3/12/2009, 1:21 pm EST

Rolling Stone, you are a legit music publication, so why do you continue to give coverage to a tour of an “artist” who lip sync’s night after night? Britney Spears can’t write her own songs, she can’t play an instrument, and she can’t sing live. She’s awful. She’s a joke and an embarrassment to those of us who enjoy real artists like John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen. Quit giving this no-talent so much coverage.

Hater | 3/12/2009, 1:54 pm EST

Yes, I’m a hater. I hate Britney Spears. Her only talent is wearing skimpy, fetish-y outfits. Her early music was so bloody godawful that anything later that was even semi-listenable was seen as talented artistic growth. I think people only really like her in a ’so bad it’s good’ way – ironically.

Dana | 3/12/2009, 2:01 pm EST

Ok, don’t get me wrong Britney is a great Entertainer, but thats it. I can’t call her a singer because she dosen’t even sing. I’ve seen clips from her tour and they look alright, nothing like she used to be. Madonna on the other hand is an Icon and will always be the Queen of Pop because she worked her ass of to be where she is today. I’ve seen her live and she’s untouchable.

Rich K | 3/12/2009, 2:09 pm EST

Everything in your article is right on the money. I truely enjoyed last nights performance. What ever Britney was lacking was made up with the spectacular show. I am tired to shelling out big dollars to see a concert where the band stands there for 45 minutes. Last nights show began with the Pussy Cat Dolls who were also spectacular and the entire show was 3 hours. Worth every cent!

Josh | 3/12/2009, 2:12 pm EST

Madonna rocks. Although she isn’t technically a “great” singer she has been making fantastic albums since 1983. When Ray of Light came out in 1998 she made one of the greatest of all time. Her live shows are still the best and she continues to set an even higher bar for the people that follow her. Britney is a good entertainer, she is the product of her producers and has made some catchy songs. Madonna is the Queen of Pop and even Britney Spears bows down to her.

NJB | 3/12/2009, 2:27 pm EST

It’s good to hear that Britney is doing well on her tour. She deserves it after all she’s been through. Madonna probably wants to make sure that she’s still an icon. She loves Britney or else she wouldn’t be there for support. She just wants to make sure that Britney can follow her footsteps as the years go by. Wouldn’t it be mindblowing if they performed together again soon?

2008 was quite a year for comebacks, Mickey Rourke, Robert Downey Jr. and Britney Spears. I’d say Spears’ was the most unlikely though.

Chuck | 3/12/2009, 2:53 pm EST

It’s good to know that Britney can tour without singing.

I’ll check with my boss to see if I can go to my job without working.

Swingline | 3/12/2009, 2:56 pm EST

At least Joaquin Phoenix doesn’t lip sync when he busts his rhymes…

Brian-South Africa | 3/12/2009, 2:58 pm EST

Britney is amazing. She is the best ever!Brilliant, awsome songs,I love love her voice and by far she is the best performer!I can’t wait to see Britney in London 0n 6 June. All my love and support for Britney!

Alex | 3/12/2009, 3:15 pm EST

Britney’s cool but she doesn’t have 1/4 of the talent that Her Madgesty has. Madonna at 50 can sing, dance and put on one hell of a show live. Britney is a good performer but she’ll never compare to the Queen of Pop

brit | 3/12/2009, 3:56 pm EST

i dont think britney is trying to be the queen of anything, the difference betw. her and maddy is britneys young and has so many years to perfect her style.

richard | 3/12/2009, 3:58 pm EST

I am not sure what Madonna is doing but hopefully she is trying to help Britney any way she can would like to get the details on this story.

jj | 3/12/2009, 4:01 pm EST

Britney’s back and lip-synching as good as ever.

B | 3/12/2009, 4:30 pm EST

Britney doesn;t come close. But good for Britney boldly trying to touch Madonna’s throne. Good for both of them, but as just a spectator, Madonna still is the Queen of Pop. Brit is still the princess.

ed juice (dear anonymous) | 3/12/2009, 4:32 pm EST

id rather see John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen. and as rolling stone is a magazine, thats what im getting. tho id never buy a magazine just to read her. perhaps there are some 80s magazines you could read to get more on your old idols.. no offense meant

ed juice (dear anonymous) | 3/12/2009, 4:34 pm EST

id rather see britney than John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen. As it is a magazine and these old boys dont look so good no more..

Mark Lynn | 3/12/2009, 5:11 pm EST

Get a grip! Madonna is older than my gran! She should give up gracefully- she cannot compete with Britney!
Britney is the definition of QUEEN OF POP!
When Brit makes a record, she doesn’t need to collaborate with any other artist- and I think it’s clear Madonna is way past her sell by date! Madonna used Britney because Brit was the most famous person on the planet and most powerful celeb. Madonna’s record sales are nothing now compared to Britneys. Fair enough, Madonna did well in her day, but today she lacks any appeal.
I mean, did anyone actually hear that poor excuse for a record ‘Hard Candy’? My ears are still bleeding.

Britney is QUEEN!
And you can bet Madonna left early after seeing Britney perform because she seen Brit was better than ever! I’ll bet she was hoping Brit wouldn’t overcome her personal troubles!

BRITNEY IS QUEEN!!—ACCEPT IT!

Jason | 3/12/2009, 5:28 pm EST

Mark Lynn,
Bobby Brown wants his crack pipe back. Madonna is the Queen of Pop, she’s an untouchable icon. She puts on the best live shows, she’s the top grossing solo artist 25 years after her debut. She is an album artist, she can sing live and she’s in charge of her own career. As the saying goes “Madonna is successful for the decisions she made, Britney is successful for the ones she didn’t”

If U seek Britney | 3/12/2009, 5:31 pm EST

Nothing more than the emperor’s new clothes. Selling your body and face as a “talent”. sad that so many people buy into such pure rubbish. F. U. C. Amy? what total b.s.! I’d rather listen to millie vanillie—they had more talent

Dave | 3/12/2009, 5:32 pm EST

I agree with the person who said Britney is a joke because she has no talent and can’t sing, write or play an instrument. She is terrible and if there’s anyone who thinks she’s better than Mellencamp, Dylan or Springsteen, because a fan of something other than music because you know nothing about music.

Mellencamp had the No. 5 rated album of last year by Rolling Stone, so he’s no washed-up 80’s has-been. His 2008 album was considered better than Britney’s 2008 album, except Mellencamp wrote and performed all his songs himself instead of using studio tricks to make his voice sound good. He’s a legit talent who plays real guitar and sings live at his concerts, Britney is a phony who can do none of the above. She should be working overnights at a 7-11 somewhere in rural Louisiana.

Katie | 3/12/2009, 5:33 pm EST

I like Britney Spears. I like Madonna more (a lot). Britney’s stuff is a fun, poppy, guilty pleasure; Madonna is always striving to be a true artist. That’s the difference, and that’s why Brit will never close the gap between herself and Maddy. As much as I like her, she is not the one.

marie | 3/12/2009, 5:34 pm EST

Believe me there were some of us there that weren’t that impressed. Alot of riding on props and prancing. Not alot of real dancing and no singing. Madonna does still rule. She must have not been able to believe what she was seeing but madonna will always be polite if asked.

Visitor | 3/12/2009, 5:38 pm EST

Yes, Madonna was the first QUEEN of POP. She will leave a great legacy behind her after her reign. And Britney Spears is her heiress. Britney will be the new Queen of Pop while Madge will be the Queen Mother.

marcos garcia | 3/12/2009, 5:39 pm EST

DEAR MARK You obviously don’t know anything about popular music or culture or how to understand its significance. Artistically, Madonna casts a HUGE shadow over Britney and most others in that category. But, the best thing is that financially speaking – Madonna – who you claim is “past her sell-by date” – has just been on the most successful concert tour by a solo musical artist! Her Sticky and Sweet tour took in nearly 250 million dollars and has now been extended and her previous Confessions tour brought in 195 million..So, her numbers are still going up..And, by the way – she performed in STADIUMS not before smaller audiences like Britney. Give me a break! Show more respect for your “gran”.

Mallory | 3/12/2009, 5:52 pm EST

Madonna will always be the Queen of Pop. Britney, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado, Kylie Minogue, Lady GaGa and all the other dance pop artists will never compare to the orignal.

Todd | 3/12/2009, 6:15 pm EST

Britney is amazing! I do believe that madonna is the queen of pop, but when her time is up, britney will claim that title. I mean, just over a year ago, britney was going through a huge meltdown, and her career was plummeting. Now, shes back and performing and doing a great job at it! I love britney!

Todd | 3/12/2009, 6:16 pm EST

Unfortunately, since her breakdown, Britney seems to have lost all of her dance moves. Now she just struts across the stage, flailing her arms a little bit, and maybe does some foot work here and there. That’s not choreography. Obviously, Britney has very little motivation to go any further with this career of hers. Granted, her albums are great, but the Britney of old is gone for good. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her breakdowns either.

Madonna is the Queen of Pop; she has worked hard for that title, and no one can compete with her. She was truly meant to lead the life she has led, which is why she will never have a public breakdown like Britney has had. Simply put, Britney can’t handle the fame she thought she wanted so desperately. She’s on her way to becoming a karaoke substitute for what she could have been. It’s unfortunate, but true.

Mark Lynn | 3/12/2009, 7:18 pm EST

Answer me this, did Madonna sell over 110 million records in her first ten years? Plus back in the 80s, the industry was much stronger!
Britney brought pop into the 21st Century!
I’m not saying Madonna is not successful, but compared to britney she is extremely dull.

A dull voice to an even duller personality!
And why must she always do collaborations? Maybe because no one would be interested if JT wasn’t singing with her.
She jumps about like a young woman as though she has the body like Brits.
Sorry, but in the 21st Century, Britney rules!
Shea the most famous person on the planet! Maybe she had troubles, but at least she’s not afraid to show who she really is!

Sheyl | 3/12/2009, 7:21 pm EST

Madonna is the Queen of Pop end of story. Britney Spears is a Pop Princess but she’ll never be a truly Great Artist like Madonna

Liz | 3/12/2009, 7:23 pm EST

Mark without Madonna there would be no Britney, no Rihanna, hell the entire music industry wouldn’t be the same. You obviously don’t know anything about the history of pop music, Madonna is a trail blazing icon and still is amazing at 50. You seem like a delusional Britney fan that is to naive to appreciate a visionary artist like Madonna.

Mark Lynn | 3/12/2009, 7:26 pm EST

And in response to M!
Britney had the ‘breakdown’ due to the worldwide exposure she was placed in since she was 16 years old!
Britneys been a superstar all her life, Madonna had her childhood and that’s why she’s never had a breakdown. Or a breakdown her dumb fans have been told of!

Britney was a superstar when she was a child and remains to be the worlds brightest! Get a grip and stop following a 50 year old who let’s face it, really should be at home with a cup of tea and her knitting!

Plus, if Brit didn’t have motivation, why the hell is she touring?!? If she didn’t want to she wouldn’t! Think before you make such idiotic claims!

Brittany | 3/12/2009, 7:31 pm EST

Many people see Britney Spears as an artist with absolutely no talent. But what they do not realize is that all these other factors are what are making her so popular. She is in the public eye all the time which can be beneficial towards her or affect her negatively. This is what makes her so popular. Britney has had a few roller coaster rides and when she releases music, it grabs people’s attention. Even if they are not a fan of her, they will still most likely listen to her music just to see if it is any good. When doing this, some people realize that they like her music even if it really is not her singing. But all in all, she is still gaining popularity and fans.
On the other hand, I also think that the reason Britney is so popular is because she is young and her music in style. Some people could care less what type of musician she is. They also argue about when she performs she is very sexual and her costumes do not cover much skin. In my opinion, that is show business. When you are a performer, you are also taking on the task as an actress/actor as well. Whichever costume fits with the song and choreography is the one that will be used in most cases. Even though, Britney is a role model for some teens, I do not think that her costumes in her shows affect her as a person because they are strictly for performing. For example, dancers in general have to wear costumes that do not reflect who they are as people but have to wear them for performing purposes. This goes the same way for Britney.
Overall, Britney’s past has given her a bad reputation. She keeps getting caught in these black holes for some time and then escapes them and her music career booms once again. All she needs to do is stay on the right track and she will eventually be the respected artist she deserves to be.

Anonymous | 3/12/2009, 9:40 pm EST

okkk i was there last nite!! she is defenitley backk. it was seriously the best concert ever. i saw madonna in concert for her sticky and sweet tour but britney did amazing!!!! everyone there knew madonna was in the stadium and thats y they snuck her out early. cus on the txting screen ppl were txting “Madonna is Here!” Well I had VIP GA and i stood nxt to the stage but i was waiting since 10am until 7pm just to go in. but during every cold minute it was so worth it!!!!!!

Laura | 3/12/2009, 9:56 pm EST

They are both phenomenal pop artists and icons in their own way. Britney Spears is the closest thing today’s generation has to Madonna.

Sean | 3/12/2009, 10:03 pm EST

Madonna is far more talented and doesn’t deserve to be in the same sentence as Britney. Like a Prayer, Ray of Light, Confessions on a Dancefloor are pop masterpieces. Britney is a pop star, Madonna is the Pop Queen

B | 3/12/2009, 10:19 pm EST

Madonna is a genius, the Queen of Pop. Britney will never be able to replace her. Madonna is the type of star you get once in a generation

iieee | 3/12/2009, 10:51 pm EST

Madonna was Britney AND Britney is now Madonna. This is Pop music people, relax…But soon, very soon Lady Gaga will be crowned QUEEN OF POP! If America still has a good ear to classic Pop, All hail Lady Gaga!!!

MusicLuvr | 3/12/2009, 11:46 pm EST

Ok..so here’s how it goes Mark Lynn and everyone else..I’m both a Britney fan and Madonna fan..but Britney can’t hold a candle to Madonna..I’m sorry..Yes Britney’s been at this music game since she was 17 and Madonna’s 1st album came out when she was like 23 or 24..and I think that’s why Britney is a lil burnt out mentally and physically..she never got a chance to grow up..and do her own thing without pressure..Madonna grew up and got to live her life in New York City and really struggled on her way to the top..if you look at Britney’s career she’s totally been imitating Madonna from the start..and you have to understand the only reason people like Madonna and Janet are relevant today is because they’ve re-invented themselves 34387378 times..I think Britney’s music has changed a bit..and Circus and Blackout were great albums..but there is something to be said for a 50 yr old woman who has the highest grossing tour of the year..by the way Madonna’s real age is prolly like 29 lol..and say what you want about facelifts and botox..her face just matches her INSANE BODY..and if you look at the numbers Britney’s popularity has declined way faster than Madonna’s..yes it’s a different industry..unfortunatly for Britney and everyone else..hopefully the industry will save itself..and lastly CONFESSIONS and STICKY and SWEET were the GREATEST SHOW EVERRR!!!! I LOOVE BRIT but she needs to take a breather and live for about 2 or 3 yrs outside the limelight..go live in Atlanta or New Orleans with your kids..and enjoy life Britney!

Yurei | 3/12/2009, 11:59 pm EST

Sorry, but lip-syncing in fancy costumes dosent equal a comeback.

rolling | 3/13/2009, 12:28 am EST

All I can say is Madonna is a magnificent performance artist with total creative control, and a beautiful voice that continued to evolve, listen to “Rain”. She has always been in control and has taken the criticism and thrown it back in the faces of her critics and haters… with even more daring, challenging “material”. She is the quintessential Material Girl! NOW She is the top act in the world… solo female. Her body of work( and body) has always progressed and sure she has had her media bombs & world wide tumbles.. but her indomitable spirit has overcome it all! Just watch one of her shows you nay-sayers and you will see how she has been copied almost to a tee… costumes, dance routines and all. The others just can’t dance worth beans. You can’t copy that. That kind of grace comes natuarally and through hard work and training.

I’m not blaming them because they do not have the dedication, drive and innate talent that M has, because that is the mark of a true icon. History has many idols but very few icons. She is a perfectionist… and she is the most amazing dancer, who manages to sing while dancing, much of the time…. hello! Go rent “The Girlie Show”. Be glad that she has influenced your idols so strongly, hold them dear, but don’t ever forget that she IS super woman… and remember 50 is the new 25! You will be glad of that someday!

Kayla | 3/13/2009, 2:50 am EST

I WAS THERE, SHE DID AWESOME.

Dancer | 3/13/2009, 3:08 am EST

I’m 17 and when I was 7 I fell in LOVE Britney, and always thought Madonna is too old. Recently I have been on youtube and also other web sites and I have to agree that Madonna has been more successful than Britney. Madonna totally changed the music industry for females and without her, female’s today would not be as successful. As much as I love Britney, we must be realistic in that Madonna is the Queen. However I’m happy that Britney is the only other female to come close to her. Thank-you Madonna for making the music industry more acceptable towards females. In your day you were like Jesus Christ – crusified so others may have a chance to a happy successful life. My favourite is Britney 1st, Madonna 2nd, but the reality is Madonna’s 1st, Britney’s 2nd. Maybe one day Britney can overtake Madonna, but that’s only if Madonna stops and doesn’t keep going. I don’t think Madonna will stop though, meaning no-one will ever catch up to her. History cannot be changed.

Ok so I am a HUGE Britney fan and I am not so much a Madonna fan. But Madonna is a legend ok like vogue? And human nature? Timeless songs I will give her that! Ill tell you why Britney is the new Madonna one her life is under the microscope and we the early 20s crowd grew up with her! Granted she isn’t back to her 2000 vma performace level of dancing which I remember watching when I was 12 and it blew my mind!! Britney is an icon to our generation! Madonna I love you sweetie but its time to hang up the cone bras and bondage gear and let Britney take the lime light! I have seen britneys circus tour I was at the Tampa show! It was amazing she is a true presence and def a “put on a show kind of girl”. Britneys is just fun the songs are fun and her shows are fun and the asshole comparing Britney to mellincamp or who the fuck ever get a life and take that 80s white trash shit somewhere else Jesus!! And for the record Britney did sing several songs live in Tampa including the opening number circus! All in all britneys back weither you bitches like it or not!!!

Mark Lynn | 3/13/2009, 4:39 am EST

Madonna is certainly no icon in Europe.
Quite frankly, we are bored of this woman. She should be more graceful, elegant, not posing with skimpy outfits, and legs spread wide open- she’s old enough to be a grandmother.
If America is too ignorant to acknowledge that Britney is, and remains to be, the best performer in the world, then so be it! But when you finally realize, you will remember this!
I’m all for Madonna continuing her career, but please, be more like an elegant woman when doing so!
BRITNEY IS THE NEW BRITNEY- in today world, no one comes close to the LIVING LEGEND!

PHOENIXAMAZON | 3/13/2009, 5:37 am EST

Do you know what would really impress me more about Britney. Is if she would stop lip syncing ALL OF HER PERFORMANCES. Stop acting like a prostitute selling her self on the Hollywood strip. If you muted the sound to her videos you would have no idea what song they are for because they all LOOK THE SAME. Lets see “Look under your lashes” check. Place your” tongue on your lips.” check. “Grab your boobs”, check. “Flip your hair” check. She does not write her songs nor does she write her music. Her voice is so digitally enhanced that she sounds like a computer trying to sing through two cans and a string. She is simply not a artist, singer or performer.

Aidan | 3/13/2009, 5:47 am EST

mariah carey kicks both of theyre asses.

Nick | 3/13/2009, 8:28 am EST

Madonna is the the Queen of Pop. Mark Lynn Britney Spears might be “hot” again in your opinion, and “young” but remember 25 year old blondes will eventually become 50 year old blondes. The difference is Madonna controlled her destiny, worked her ass off, proved herself as an artist and truely became an ICON. Britney had things handed to her, threw it all away and now tried to get some back. Madonna isn’t going anywhere dude, at 50 she’s still the baddest chick in the game and nobody will be able to touch her.

Mark Lynn, UK | 3/13/2009, 9:02 am EST

Madonna cannot sell records in her own! Just look at Hard Candy- Timbaland, JT, Pharrell- all on doing collaborations. If she were a true Artist, she’d b able to do it on her own!
Britney did not have it handed to her, she had it forced upon her, and because she instantly became the the Biggest Pop Superstar on Earth, certain people, including Madonna used her for their own use.
Have you seen For The Record, Britney is so uncomfortable in her company.
Britney IS the icon, Madonna WAS.
Sorry to say, but Madonnas going to drive herself into the ground if she doesn’t give up.
Have you seem her with no makeup? She looks ill, she needs to bow out whilst she still can.

Keith S | 3/13/2009, 10:05 am EST

Mark Lynn, you’re an idiot. People don’t actually BUY records anymore. A few clicks on the internet and most people can find anything they want….for free. The fact that Madonna just had the biggest grossing tour by a solo artist says everything. Britney can’t even sing live and she’s half Madonna’s age. Radio has a thing against age, if you actually spent time listening to Madonna’s last album you’d realize there was no reason she shouldn’t have received even more airplay. If Gwen Stefani, Lady GaGa and even your precious Britney get so much for making good dance pop songs, Madonna certainly deserves airplay for great dance pop. The problem is young uninformed people that are so far up Britney’s over produced ass you fail to recognize a true artist like Madonna.

Kim | 3/13/2009, 10:18 am EST

Britney is a nobody in Europe! It’s all about Madonna (Queen of Pop) and Kylie Minogue (Princess of Pop).

britney swallows | 3/13/2009, 10:20 am EST

britney isnt the next anything. when her career is over no will remember her lame music (which she doesnt even write herself) the only thing people are gonna remember is the stupid choices she made like shaving her head, spittin out 2 kids when she was still a kid herself, and all the other stupid contreversy she was a part of. ive said it b4 and i’ll say it again, she is just pure eye candy. she has absolutly no talent. she can dance but doez that make her a true genuine artist? NO!!! go away britney!!!! all your doin is brainwashing all the young vulnerable teeny boppers in our nation. we dont need them looking up to you cuz we sure as hell dont want them to end up like you!!

Jessica | 3/13/2009, 11:03 am EST

Madonna was probably thinking damm, how did people ever think she was going to be the new me. Madonna rules, face it she may be 50 but she’ll go “On and On and On”.
Long live the Queen

Bianca | 3/13/2009, 11:25 am EST

I love both Britney and Madonna, but Madonna the most. You can hate her all you want but that doesn’t mean she is ever going to quit, like JESSICA said she will go on and on and on….whether you like it or not ^.^ And if you think Madonna lip syncs, Maybe she does at times, but I went to her S&S Tour, and her voice was freaking amazing. So, before you say Madonna lip sycs all her songs or she can’tsing, and you NEVER been to one of her concerts, you don’t know shit. She can sing and she looks amazing and gorgeous for her age. Don’t be jealous! ^.^ ♥
And Britney is AMAZING as well. She may not be all that..ollaalala to many people anymore but she’s great and amazing too.

Ruben | 3/13/2009, 11:30 am EST

Madonna’s concert had more singing dancing choreography visuals and more audience involvement. That’s why she sells out in every country around the world and makes the most $$$$.

carolyn | 3/13/2009, 11:58 am EST

Madonna and britney both dont write their own music.they both take something someone else wrote and change a word or two for writers credit. they both have lip synched, madonna may not do it anymore but she used to. they have different styles. britney was innocent madonna never played that game. they both admire eachother. britney is pretty humble and madonna is pretty old. and she is as old as many grand mothers on stage in lingerie cursing and gyrating men half her age- how is that impressive to anyone? i think its gross. when your a pop star you have an expiration date and madonnas is way overdue.i think she was a pioneer and an icon but you cant compare the two- britney is the new generations madonna so stop hating her when you know your gonna read every article you find about her in the news your just as guilty

Madonna does write her own music, Madonna CAN play an instrument, Madonna DOES sing live (almost all the time now) and Caroyln you’ll be old some day too. Madonna looks amazing for 50.

SP2 | 3/13/2009, 3:05 pm EST

Madonna is the Queen of Pop, she’ll always be the Queen of Pop. Britney fans need to face the facts, Madonna’s an icon, she is pop music. Nobody will ever replace her and to dimish her body of work (and work ethic) is absurd.

amanda | 3/13/2009, 7:07 pm EST

Dan | 3/13/2009, 11:35 pm EST

As if Madonna sang live on her latest tour; I saw her show last year and amongst the perhaps 20 songs she performed, only about 2 were live, with the track rolling in the background

D | 3/14/2009, 10:11 am EST

I do not understand why everyone is making such a big deal regarding Madonna being at Britney’s concert. They are both artists. All artists go to each others shows and support one another. Madonna has helped Brit become who she is today; Britney sees her as a role model. There should not be an issue for the Queen on Pop to go and see the Princess of Pop. Our society has made celebrity one of the most important things in our lives. When we turn on the news there will always be some sort of story regarding a celebrity. Why is this?? They are people just as we are. Why have celebrities made such a huge impact on our live? When I pump gas in my car I am not having people taking pictures of me, so why should we care who is putting gas in their cars when they are not caring about what we are doing in their daily lives.
Britney Spears has a tumultuous last few years. She has begun to turn her life around and is currently on the right track. It does not matter how small the mistakes she makes we will always hear about them. This girl needs to be left alone. Madonna going to her concert was no big deal. Instead of them highlighting Madonna being in the attendance and having a spot light on her why don’t they put a spot light on some of the fans who actually spent their hard earned money to be able to go to the concert than Madonna who most likely got her tickets for free.

Ryan | 3/14/2009, 3:01 pm EST

I’ve been looking at all you posts and this is what i have to say: Is there even a question as to who is better. As an outsider who loves rock and roll (Led Zep, Sabbath, Floyd etc…), I admire Madonna becasue she actually made pop music look avant garde and taken seriously. Back in 1989 i bought Like A Prayer and that album is THE BEST album by a pop star ever. Ray of Light was great as well. I’ve only become a Madonna fan since 1998 as trust me, she’s a genuine artist/performer. Britney may have the title of the best selling AMERICAN pop star, but Madonna is a global icon and no one will replace her. Madonna sings live (even with a backing track it’s obvious that she sings live). Britney is just a money making machine that is just doing this tour to pay for her managers and mom and dads expenses. You can tell Madonna actually enjoys working the stage. Madonna is the “Queen of Pop”. Britney is merely a damsel in distress. The whole world is watching and trust me, Britney will most likely backslide to the bald freak show she was (and most likely still is).

jaykaybee | 3/14/2009, 6:00 pm EST

Most of you are on point. I am a 36 year old black man, in love with Britney. Madonna was the IT GIRL in her hey day. Madonna is skinny, wrinkled, old and a hot mess. She has the nerve to be dating that young model. She looks like his grandmother. What a role model for ROCCO AND LOURDES. Her sweet and sticky tour can’t compare to the CIRCUS TOUR and I have been to both. I love Janet and Britney but Madonna is just plain ugly and uninteresting.

robert | 3/15/2009, 8:02 am EST

I LOVE both Madonna and Britney.
Madonna is an Icon before Madonna was Cher and Debbie Harry and Donna Summer. Every so often, someone new gets to be the Queen. Look back over the years and check out the charts. and by the way who is Kylie Minogue ?

Robert | 3/15/2009, 3:00 pm EST

People, give these women a break. Britney is a star. Madonna is an ICON all over the world. For all you girls issing Madonna saying she’s old… I would like to see you when you’re 50. You are just green with envy she can date a 22 year old. She will remain on top as long as the public wants her, and for all you sorry-a** losers, she is far from over, whether you like it or not. So diss all you want, it only makes her stronger. As for Britney, more power to you girl.
And as far as the Mariah comment, I also love her singing, but try and teach her to dance while singing….she would fall flat on her butt…

Bj | 3/15/2009, 4:30 pm EST

jaykaybee I don’t believe for 1 second you’ve been to a Madonna concert. That women puts on the best live show of any performer. Britney doesn’t come close and I’ve seen both. Madonna does sing live and it’s clear she does. If you don’t believe it a few clicks on Youtube and you can find her singing live and in acoustic settings. Madonna is an icon, the Queen of Pop and she makes 50 hot. Britney is a mess that has good handlers b/c when she stops the money stops. On a final not history will mention Madonna as an artistic trailblazer, Britney is just a footnote.

yikes | 3/16/2009, 12:30 am EST

I read this stuff randomly when I’m tired and I think its interesting for no good reason. Britney is very talented. She was raised to be a pop star. But comparing the two is silly. Madonna’s career was and is a truly post-modern take on the most important century in history. She created the careers of the pop stars to follow her. She’s not necessarily an icon, as not everybody loves her, but her stamp on society is unrivaled. And until there is more to comment on in the world, it is unlikely that any “star” will be able to achieve that level of success. It will happen, but Britney and Kylie and Avril etc etc are unfortunately stuck in Madonna’s shadow. In 50 years, things will look different once again. But Madonna’s impact will always be the most important celebrity impact of this generation – w/ oprah and bill gates etc – because it defined an era and still does. I’d love to be around when that happens again!

ren | 3/16/2009, 6:51 am EST

i wonder why you people are creating a feud between the two when, after all, in reality britney and madonna are friends. britney even feat madonna in her single matm.

Anonymous | 3/16/2009, 6:12 pm EST

i like britneys new single circus madonna’s life would suck without you as kelly clarkson mentions

Seth | 3/17/2009, 8:22 am EST

Madonna, Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross are the 3 most important female artists of all time. To compare Madonna and Britney Spears is a joke.

jaykaybee | 3/19/2009, 1:26 am EST

BJ, I don’t need any history lessons from you. Furthermore, I have seen old hag live, I wasn’t impressed.

Larry | 3/19/2009, 3:32 am EST

You know Madonna only went so she can get attention. Madonna isn’t a true artist, she only knew how to rely on the best people to make her look better, look at her past career, all the people she worked with are all A-listers, she used Britney so people will notice and care about her sticky and sweet tour, otherwise only the fans will come. See the buzz Britney’s cameo caused for her tour?

Chad | 3/19/2009, 9:55 pm EST

Larry- Yes, you are right. Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour raked in $280 million and she has a Part II beginning in July that should add at least $150 million more to that take (in a massive worldwide recession, no less)… but that success is all due to the fact that Britney did a 30-second cameo at one of her shows two-thirds of the way through the tour itinerary. That makes a lot of sense.
robert- Anyone who knows who Madonna, Britney Spears, Cher, Debbie Harry and Donna Summer are but who has never even heard of Kylie Minogue is a liar. It’s fine if you aren’t familiar with her music but don’t pretend you’ve never even heard of her.
I don’t know why people need to make a rivalry here where one does not exist. I love Madonna — she is my Queen. I love Britney, too, though. I saw both tours and they were both great. Madonna loves and supports Britney and Britney loves and idolizes Madonna just like the rest of us do. Where is the feud? I don’t get it.

Bunnie | 3/20/2009, 9:29 pm EST

Seth, you cannot put Madonna in the same category with Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross; the latter two can actually sing.

Karen | 3/21/2009, 1:24 pm EST

Madonna can SING, not like Aretha but better then Diana Ross and far better then Britney, Rihanna, Gwen, Ciara, Kylie, Nelly Furtado and all the other dance pop artists.

Madonna is the Queen of Pop and anyone that disputes that has by lying to themselve for the last 30 years

britttn | 3/22/2009, 6:12 am EST

kylie minouge has nuthing on britney.
im from aust, were kylie is from.
and most people i kno hate the bitch.
she has nuthing on britney spears or madonna.
she dsnt even deserve to be called pop princess.
beacuse there is only one pop princess and her name is britney fucking spears.

Jess | 3/23/2009, 12:31 am EST

Madonna is the f@cking Queen of Pop and nobody is every going to take her place!

Mark Lynn | 3/23/2009, 11:25 am EST

Madonna WAS good, but really, can you day that Hard Candy was awesome? The same way Blackout and Circus have been? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
And you’re correct, there ain’t a rivalry, cos Madonna cannot rival Britney- couldn’t from Baby One More Time.
Madonna does use A-Listers to get attention. Almost all her singles are collaborations. Brit’s released 2 collaborations in the last 10 and a half years. Madonna’s released 2 in the last year! C’mon, you all can’t deny that!

Britney is superior in every way!
Love you B x

Emily | 3/24/2009, 7:25 pm EST

Britney sucks live and can’t even sing live. Madonna rocks and she’s twice her age. Hard Candy was a good album, Confessions on a Dancefloor was fantastic. Britney releases singles, Madonna releases true albums

jaykaybee | 3/24/2009, 8:48 pm EST

Madonna cannot sing live either! Her live singing is just as awful as Janet Jacksons, Britney Spears and the rest of the voiceless pop tarts. They are all famous because they are entertainers first. Madonna is no exception. Madonna has faired better than most due to controversy and sex.

Paris | 3/25/2009, 7:38 pm EST

Madonna CAN sing live, you’re a moron if you think otherwise. Watch her Confessions tour DVD or youtube You Must Love Me from Sticky and Sweet. She is actually a very good live vocalist now

Mark Lynn | 3/26/2009, 7:06 am EST

fucking buy a Britney album, then come back here and tell me she can’t make good albums.

I bought Hard Candy and it’s nowhere near ad good as Blackout or Circus. Britney does not use collaborations to sell records whereas Madonna, well let’s be honest- is she gonna release a single on her own anytime soon!?

Britney is superior- Madonnas day has been and gone. All you ‘fans’ living in denial ought to accept that!
And Brit can sing! Watch clips of her Dream Within A Dream tour and you’ll see that!

Nick | 3/26/2009, 7:18 pm EST

Mark Lynn you continue to post complete garbage. I own all of Britney’s albums and can tell you that Blackout was her first good one,and Circus is good as well. Madonna on the other hand has been making AMAZING albums since the beginning of her career, each one is an artist statement. Hard Candy was still far better then Circus. Madonna CAN sing far better, dance better, put on a better show, write better songs, make better albums and is FAR more talented and influential. Britney is the product of her producers, Madonna is an artist. People like you are to naive to understand that.

Mark Lynn | 3/27/2009, 5:24 am EST

What you’re to naive to understand is that Madonna I just the older version of Britney. And all of Brit’s albums are good, plus she was a child when she made them, which makes them even better. Madonna is not an artist- she cannot sing or dance.

When Britney made a comeback, there was alot more press coverage and interest compared to when Madonna makes hers.

Britney has been through more than Madonna, she was scrutinized since she was 16.

Madonna had her childhood and grew up before she became famous, whereas Brit grew up as the World’s Biggest Pop Superstar.

And 11 years later- she’s still holding that title after all she’s been through!

Paul | 3/27/2009, 7:04 pm EST

MADGE ROCKs and Brit Brit sucks, she’ll have another breakdown by the end of the year.

jasmine | 3/30/2009, 10:30 pm EST

Madonna is the Queen of Pop! She has more talent in one finger then Britney does in her entire body

Mark Lynn | 3/31/2009, 7:19 pm EST

GET A GRIP YOU LOSERS!

BRITNEY IS SUPERIOR IN THE 21ST CENTURY!!
MADONNA CANNOT COMPETE!!

J | 3/31/2009, 7:23 pm EST

Mark Lynn quit s@cking Britney’s d#ck. She sucks man. A 50 y.o. Madonna is superior in every way

Mark Lynn | 4/2/2009, 12:04 pm EST

J- don’t act wide- Madonna is an old hag- Britney is clearly the best artist.
And stop being a keyboard gangster you poof.

Jony | 4/9/2009, 4:33 pm EST

“She is actually a very good live vocalist now”

Madonna? You have very low standards.

I couldn’t care less who is the queen since I Britney’s and Madonna’s music

AudreyLynne | 4/10/2009, 8:39 pm EST

I was at her opening night at the Prudential center in NJ.
To tell you the truth…..I would have preferred not to see so many circus folk…if i wanted to see the Big Apple Circus…(which I don’t..been there…done that.)….I wouldn’t have spent almost $200.00 per ticket.

Britney is cute and sweet..she’s been thru a lot..her life has been an open book…

I wanted to see her.
I love her music.
I just wish she would have sang live.
I have videos showing her not even moving her mouth when she was running around…
But I got to see her close up..and that was the exciting part. I hope she returns full force again….do you guys think she can do it?

♥AudreyLynne♥

Michael | 4/16/2009, 11:34 pm EST

I have seen Madonna live, I saw Britney live.
True, The Circus even out did Madonna in terms of theatrics..but as far as a performer, Britney failed to connect with the audience. There was not even a band. It was so over the top, she was a guest in her own show. Even though there was some pre recorded music and backing vocals, Madonna sang and did play an instrument…connected with the crowd. I will give Britney credit. Her show was professional and visually entertaining.
Britney’s last two albums are damn catchy but she does not have the depths of Madonna. She could never write a song like “Live To Tell”. And yes, Madonna unlike Britney does write her own music. And any collaborators are fortunate to work with her. She is a legend. I do like Britney’ s innocence…Madonna is no one’s victim. She was never fucked by the industry, she fucked the industry.

Ryan | 4/27/2009, 9:43 pm EST

Madonna has co-written or co-produced every track on her studio albums since 1986’s True Blue. She has full control over her music, producers and tour staff/directors. Her mere ambition and drive to succeed have always been impeccably strong. She never allowed the pressures of fame to force her into a breakdown, and she has never been one to exhibit trashy behavior or fuel for tabloid fodder. She IS a serious artist, and has meticulously maintained consistent control of her mind, image and body for over 25 years. Failing to recognize that is ignorance. Britney does not write her own music, does not tackle provocative issues, is not particularly bright, does not control her image, does not have anywhere close the vision or ambition that Madonna has, and has let herself fall into into traps of fluctuating sanity and weight gain. She will undoubtedly fall off this success bandwagon she’s been riding, and foolish people will pounce at the opportunity to pity her and trumpet the await of her “comeback”.

Karen | 4/28/2009, 4:59 pm EST

Madonna is the greatest female live performer of all time. Britney shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as her.

Josh | 4/29/2009, 7:46 pm EST

I saw Britney last night and although I found her to be entertaining she will NEVER EVER be half the artist, performer, singer or legendy that Madonna is. I really like Britney and have all of her albums but Madonna is a f@cking musical genuis. No other female artist can touch her.

charcentral | 5/1/2009, 3:44 pm EST

I would have to say Madonna is cool but Britney is hot! I am a Black Female who went to her show in Chicago and even though I grew up listening to R&B, Gospel, and Soul Singers who sing so good they dont need music, there is something for me so likeable about britney. When she came out I found myself loving this girl with great style, rythym, and a different sounding voice (because she can sing She just doesnt sound like everybody else).Whats really crazy is the same people I grew up saying britney spears, really? are now saying she is hot. Brit you know you are good when you can have a breakdown, marry a butthole, have two kids, and still come out with two number one albums and a sold out tour. She is BACK!

JerryJ | 5/23/2009, 11:34 pm EST

Hahahahahaha… this is SO fucking pathetic… MADONNA is the QUEEN OF MUSIC and the QUEEN OF TOURS

JerryJ | 5/23/2009, 11:41 pm EST

This is so pathetic, FIRST, Madonna is MADONNA, I saw the Circus Tour, WTF, she doesn’t even count with a band and EVERY single song is playback, is that a joke, she’s supposed to be singing. MADONNA instead has a REAL worls tour selling out stadiums with capacity from 40,000 to 70,000 people charging tons of money even with this global disaster of economy. I attended to every single Madonna tour since 2001 (4 tours to date), she didn’t cancel any show for nervous breakdowns cause she’s not in drugs. She actually sings live and dance at the same time, she really knows how to put a show, all your comments are retarded and ridiculous. Just watch the soon to be released Sticky & Sweet Tour live from Argentina in the GIGANTIC River Plate Stadium, NOW that’s a show you idiots. Pls, comparing Britney with Madonna or Michael Jackson, you must be 13…

Both Britney and Madonna can not sing, period. If you look back years before back in the 60’s Cher will be the original pioneer of all of them next to Debby Harry from Blondie and Donna Summer. Madonna has very little talent but she and her team know how to make the best of it. She, Madonna does not really writtes any music neither the lyrics she usually changes a word or a phrase so she can say “I cowrotte the song”. Hats off to Madonna for being so good at using other people talents for her own benefit as she herself make that stament in the 80s, she is also a “working girl” meaning she works hard and often tries too hard to be popular.I really would like to see (it happended a bit on the album “American life” Madonna produce and writte and entire album and make it sucessful. She tried on that album and it went not where.(disaster).None of them Britney or Madonna will have any good music if they dont work with the “real” talented people that create the music that we love to heard and dance. The two of them are just people with a cool image that appeal to the masses and present to product to the world. Both of them are fun Britney seen to be more innocent and honest then Madonna and a person,Madge calculates every move she makes and always comes as very manipulative. Now on the suject here of who is the Queen or the Princess? There is not need for that they both inspired people and makes sing and dance and “their” music bring us many happy times and memories.
Madonna’s concerts are fun and sometimes she sounds good and many times she sound really bad, but she is fun to watch. Britney is also very good at her concerts I just wish that she sings more “live” instead of just moving her lips.
They are both icons on their own right and hopefully both will keep us dancing for a while.

Madonna is a calculating BITCH. And, Britney is just starting out, and she’s doing GREAT.

Madonna needs Britney on her Sticky tour but Britney never needs Madonna in her tours.. That’s the difference.. Britney is a BIGGER star and Madonna knows that, she need Britney to get attention.. Britney is the queen of pop..

Madonna is a bitch & who cares if she left early Britney don’t need her. Madonna needed her on her tour and Justin just to stay relevant. And Britney put’s on a better show then Madonna & always has sure Madonna may sing live but she can’t dance. she can turn herself into a pretzel but that’s not dancing. Britney would dance circles around Madonna…Britney is the Queen of Pop
