  • Kanye West will reportedly join The-Dream at a free MySpace Music concert March 12th in Los Angeles to perform “Walkin’ on the Moon” from the latter’s awesome new album Love vs. Money. The show will take place at West Hollywood’s Area nightclub, with 300 people being admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis, NME reports.

  • Death Cab for Cutie will release a new EP called The Open Door, featuring songs that didn’t fit the vibe of their 2008 album Narrow Stairs. “It’s not like they’re castoffs or anything; they’re part of the Narrow Stairs experience,” bassist Nick Harmer told MTV.
  • Oasis have released an EP for their Dig Out Your Soul single “Falling Down.” A new B-side “These Swollen Hand Blues” will appear on the multi-format single, as will remixes of “Falling Down” by the Prodigy and Twiggy Ramirez. Additionally, a 22-minute “Amorphous Androgynous A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble” remix of “Falling Down” will be available as a digital download.
  • Aussie rockers the Vines have set a firm date for their return: March 24th. Craig Nicholls and Co. will release their fourth album Melodia on that date, though a tour seems unlikely; a press release notes the frontman’s Asperger’s Syndrome is worsening.

I am really confused. To answer Anonymous’ question, Meldodia was indeed released last year–on Ivy League Records, which is exclusively Australian. No US release. What I took this as is: it’s getting an American release. Perhaps they found a label in America, or Ivy League is now selling in the US. (I have seen it in record stores as an import for like $25 as late as last year, and of course you can also buy it on iTunes. It’s been around since 2008 like you said.) I searched online for Vines news after I read this, and could not find any press release since the one from last year in which they announced all the canceled shows. Not the official site, not the fan club’s message board, nothing. I really wish RS was more clear on this or would update the info, I really like The Vines too and have been wondering if they’d continue trying to make music. After Vision Valley was released it was implied at different times that they might just be a studio band, and I was okay with that given all that’s happened, but at this point it almost sounds as if Nichols has been institutionalized. People really shouldn’t talk so much mess about them, I agree with that too. Their music is strangely prolific in its simplicity. In any case, I hope everything is okay with Craig Nichols. I wish him all the best.

I feel the need to write this, I have Craig’s sister on my myspace, as far as I can gather he is doing better, he’s been sighted at pubs and he was at The Veronicas gig with his sister. There hasn’t been any official news though

I think The Vines are going to be putting an album out in the next couple of years

anyway hope this puts peoples minds at ease, Craig had me worried for awhile too
