Chris Brown Enters No Plea In Rihanna Assault Case, Arraignment Pushed to April 6th

After being charged with two felonies stemming from his alleged February 8th assault of Rihanna, Chris Brown and his legal team opted not to enter a plea yesterday, instead pushing arraignment back until April 6th. Brown was in front of a judge for less than five minutes on Thursday, March 5th, and was ordered “not to annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone.” When Rihanna’s lawyer was asked by the judge if the “Umbrella” singer wanted a “no contact” order imposed, her lawyer responded, “Rihanna requested that no such order be issued,” so Brown and Rihanna can continue to correspond — and presumably reconcile — as the legal case continues. (Track the couple’s time together over Grammy Weekend in photos.)

Brown likely postponed pleading yesterday for a few reasons. Considering the high-profile nature of this case and Rihanna’s reluctance to testify against Brown as they reconcile, the 19-year-old R&B star’s legal team was likely surprised by the severity of the two felony charges. Brown wants to avoid a trial at all costs, as reminding the public of his alleged crime on a daily basis couldn’t help his already-beleaguered career, so the month until he needs to enter his plea gives his lawyer Mark Geragos ample opportunity to work out a plea bargain — and build up some more positive press by attending anger-management classes and showing the public Rihanna trusts him again. According to CNN, if Brown were found guilty of the two felonies, the sentence would likely range from probation to four years in prison.

Now that LAPD Detective De Shon Andrews’ full search warrant affidavit has been released as a court document, the public is getting a harsh picture of what happening February 8th:

“Brown continued driving and Robyn F. observed his cellular telephone sitting in his lap. She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.

“Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it.

“Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.’s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness.

“She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown’s body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions.

As the Brown/Rihanna case enters the legal system, Ghostface Killah has penned a song in support of the Barbadian singer. In “Message From Ghost,” via XXL, the Wallabee Champ tells Rihanna to stay strong, rapping, “That girl Rihanna, you know what it is Rihanna, you little sexy little thing you, you didn’t have to got through all that, that’s that young boy shit. And I ain’t here to interfere either but protect your neck, that’s what Wu told you baby.”

Anyone who still listens or buys Chris Brown’s music after this is basically saying that it’s OK for someone to punch their wife, girlfriend, mother or daughter in the face…as long as they are “in love”. Pathetic.

Krystal_ball | 3/6/2009, 10:04 am EST

My prediction for the fated duo:

Chris gets off, no jail time.
Uses Rihanna to get off from serving jail time.
Breaks up with her later, says it was mutual, tosses her to the curb, then continues his career.
Chris’ career starts off slow, then gets bigger than ever. Guys love him because he “beat the rap,” and girls still love him because “see, he changed.”

Rihanna? Plays to lackluster crowds abroad. Gets booed off of the stage in the U.S. Guys don’t look at her like a goddess, she can be slapped around, who wants to fantasize about that girl? Girls mothers forbid them to the concerts, she is a dumb chick who gave her career for a loser and allowed herself to be used by the system. She didn’t stand up for herself and reconciled with a monster, mothers say, “Oh H– no, you can’t use your babysitting money to see that girl onstage. Here, go to the mall instead.”

She starts waitressing at a dive and gets pregnant at 23. On her 30th birthday, she has a nervous mental breakdown, and realizes she was a pawn to save Chris’ career, which by then is bigger than ever and that her brilliant career could have been saved, and she gave it up for a guy who never really loved her. She lives her life as a has-been, and is seen stuffin’ her face with fast food all over AMerica.

Ri-ri,
He is using you. He will break up with you and move on. Your career is toast, his is going to shine bright.
Now, if you had put him under the jail and threw away the key, you’d be a role model now. But sadly, you are too busy standing by your loser man.
I hope you know I will never pay for your music again.

Buying someones music has nothing to do with whether we approve of his behavior or not. If his music continues to sell then it is because his music is worth buying. His personal life is just that, his personal life and his music has nothing to do with it.

We know that abuse of any kind is wrong. The only thing is that this young man still has time to get help for his problem and no one seems to think that he can turn his life around after this mistake he has made. I am not justifing what he did at all but we need to let young black know that a mistake does not mean a end to their lives or careers. It seems that white men make the same mistake and the public does not have the same hate. Example: Tommy Lee among many others.

What one has to do with the other “TheCoz”. You stupid arrogant people. I do not condone violence one bit but I think he deserve another chance. You must remember that he is 19 and a human being just like the rest of us and instead of condemning him, help him & Rhianna. You all forgot that Jay-Z stabbed someone back in the day, & that is just as violent & you all forgave him & now he is loved by millions. So my point is forgave & let both in question heal.

WowFactor | 3/6/2009, 10:32 am EST

Wow that kids like “Anonymous” would compare a Jay-Z stabbing incident to a young man physically abusing someone he supposedly cares for and claimed to love and respect. No one is saying that what he did wasn’t wrong or that it is even condoned but we all need to realize that this was not his 1st time but merely his last chance to pull it altogether. This is not the 1st time he has put hands on her and possible others. There is no excuse for that type of anger or display.. He would have done better to walk away completely from the situation and the fact that she has opted to continue her relationship speaks volume about how young woman feel about themselves. The big question for me is where are their parents. Does money and stardom equal independence and maturity. Both of them are still babies and if need the quidance of an adult… I am surprised by the involvment of their parents or the lack there of..

Anonymous | 3/6/2009, 10:34 am EST

I 100% agree with Cynthia about Tommy Lee. If this was a young white artist say like one of the JOnas brothers I bet they wouldn’t be going through all of this. I do hope that Chris Brown gets the necessary help he needs to become a better person & better man. What about second chances. This is for you capecoddess and can tell that you are so ignorant by your stupid rants. Go get a life & a job

Are you kidding me? First of all, please don’t call people ignorant when your sentences aren’t grammatically correct. Secondly, he probably will get another chance in the public’s eye…which is fine, he is 19. But seriously people, he beat the hell out of her and it is a big deal. He didn’t stop after one blow, like someone in a light fit of rage would do, he beat her to a pulp. Sounds pretty serious.

TheCoz | 3/6/2009, 10:39 am EST

I’m all for Chris Brown getting a second chance at life but not as an entertainer. Most of the money I earn goes towards people whose jobs are required to make the world function properly, which is certainly something he could do. Join the military, become a teacheer.

Being an entertainer is a privelage, therefore I choose to spend my excess money on people whom I respect. I’d hope others would do the same.

I think rihanna shoudl stay away from Chris brown. Encourage him to get the help he needs, focus on herself, because she herslef needs help, after going through something tike this. If the rumors are true about a reconciliation, then Rihanna, you still have time, to get out, save yourself and your career. You may love him, but that does not mean you have to stay with him. Sometime you have to be selfish and put yourself first. I hope everything works out for the best.

jackie | 3/6/2009, 10:43 am EST

chris brown is awful and should be thrown in jail. if he gets off then how many guys are going to start beating their girls? There is nothing more pathetic then a woman beater.

Wowfactor, I was just making a point. Violence is violence, whether you stab someone or physically abuse someone it is still violent. The point is you(in general) forgave Jay-Z & look at where he is now, both personally & professionally. I am saying instead of condemning Chris Brown for his alleged abuse allow him to go through the proper treatment and lets hopefully he comes out a BETTER PERSON. But there is one thing that I agree with you on he should have just wal away. I do believe if this was an average Joe we, including me would not be so fascinated about the story as well as writing blogs about it.

i personally think chris brown should get what he deserves. its completely unacceptable to beat a woman or treat any living being like that. i mean i love chris brown’s music, so im still going to buy his cd’s and go to his concerts because i find him very entertaining even though i think hes an animal for what he did, but thats between him and god.

Seek God | 3/6/2009, 11:05 am EST

People we can not take this very lightly, this person hurt another person badly. This doesnt have nothing to do with race or age. The problem is, he hurt someone and strip her emotionaly. He does need help quickly, and it does need to be dealt with in the public. After all, his life is public. Chris should come clean and deal with this issue rather letting his status make him. It is a old saying, “What if a man who gained the whole world and lose his soul”. Right now he is dying slowly and he doesnt even know it (flesh). In the mean why, Rihanna is going down with him. Deeply in her heart she knows that he is angry person and he does need assistance with his anger. Most imortant, he has to deal with the root of the problem and see where this anger is coming from. Remember everyone seek God! Keep the peace.

Tessie | 3/6/2009, 11:12 am EST

You know, life happens and most definitely people make mistakes. But there are instances where some “mistakes” can give you all of the “tell” about a person that you need to know in order to determine if this is someone you not just that you want to share the rest of your life with, but CAN spend the rest of your life with. Any man that COULD choke a woman til she nearly passes out and then bite her is not a man that a woman can be with especially when the woman is practically a child! Yes he desrerves a second chance, and a chance to redeem his ownself through therapy. But Rihanna staying in this relationship is very very foolish. She’s in love, but she don’t realize “love” just choked her and beat the daylights out of her, and that is not the kind of love any 20 yr old “near woman” needs. Good luck to these two, they have a lot of growing to do.

JKIZZLE | 3/6/2009, 11:15 am EST

This girl must really hate herself. What a great role model…think about the message, “If Rihanna isn’t a strong enough woman to leave a man that beats her then why should I even try?” Mabey it’s a cultural thing like the Mike Vick thing?

Daynuh Baybee | 3/6/2009, 11:15 am EST

his life is only public because people make it public…. but hes a celebrity and “icon” so he sings, dance, entertains and we enjoy it. but his personal life is just that.. his personal life. anybody whos that worried about it needs to get some business… like anonymous said if this was the average joe no one would care. there are women being beatin everyday its sad but true.

jarr | 3/6/2009, 11:16 am EST

hey cynthia, tommy lee went to JAIL for pushing Pamela. Chris beat the sh** out of this girl, punching her repeatedly, BIT her mike-tyson style, and caused multiple contusions and bruises. HUGE difference.

Diablo | 3/6/2009, 11:19 am EST

Anonymous….YOU need to get a job and a life. Good luck with that.

Anonymous | 3/6/2009, 11:24 am EST

I hope Chris brown gets the help he needs to emerge as a better person to everyone & to himself. I hope he does not go to jail but get PROBATION with the stipulation of going to Angry Management counseling to work through whatever issues that are plaguing him. I also hope the best for Rhianna. You both be strong, God Speed.

Angelic | 3/6/2009, 11:24 am EST

I feel really hurt that society still can look at abuse as being unimportant. Rihanna going back to Chris shows that she puts blame on herself aswell. I won’t buy either of there music! You need to understand that when you become an entertainer you have just become an icon and people of all ages love, respect and look up to you. When you ignore a topic like this what message are you sending out to our kids? Violence is not ok and You want my money to support your beautiful music when you send out an ugly message to my children?! No Way..I think you both need to wake up and be responsible to your actions. Rhianna can find a man who loves her and respects her. Chris should not be in a relationship until he seeks deep council for the built up anger he has. If he doesn’t he’s just being Fake so everyone can forget and move on..well it doesnt work that way. This is why kids are ignorant to it saying they still love Chris..this is sick and it’s time for change! That’s what we just voted for..we all need to apply this! Rihanna wake up girl and be strong, your leading the way for so many!

Tessie | 3/6/2009, 11:26 am EST

Jkizzle – I don’t think Rihanna hates herself. she is confused and she loves him. What we are forgetting is that these are practically children. They are kids playing house. I find it troublesome that her dad supports her staying with Chris, after such a “beatdown”. I hope she has someone whispering in her ear, the truths of life and what it means to be a woman. She’s confused and young and I feel sorry for the both of them. I’m Chris is surprised at himself for what eh did to her. If he wanted to truly enter into a real manhood, he would let her go. he would give up persuing her and let her go, and work on himself. he is no good to ANYONE until he fixes himself. she is obviously not strong enough to let him go. If he truly loves her and wanted to do right by her, he’d take that as a punishment to himself and let her go.

Someone With A Brain | 3/6/2009, 11:27 am EST

Bottom line: His music DOES have something to do with his personal life. Anyone who feels differently either needs – or WILL need – professional help! A man beat a woman. Period. As for the ‘only blacks get treated this way…’ comment – Shut the hell up man – stop the racial garbage and grow the f**k up! Noone cares. If you, as a black person, cared ANYTHING for your culture…….you’d condemn this man yourself for representing his so-called people the way he did. But, you won’t – and that’s the WHOLE problem, right there. Idiot.

I think this is a serious case but I really do think EVERYONE should stay out of it and let them and the law deal with it. and people should keep their opinion on how chris brown and rihanna should handle their relationship because no matter what its not gonna change anything. We americans need to stop basing our lives on these celebrities they are just HUMANS. everyone is acting like they have never heard of a man hitting a woman beofre and the woman after turns goes back to him. personally i don’t have an opinion on the two of them because to me whatever happens happens we will just have to suck it up and get over it. though i do have an opinion on how the public is acting and that is we need to focus on more important thing like our economy from the kid in high school to working parents trying togive their kids the basic needs.

Angelic- you don’t leave it up to these so called icons to teach our kids a darn thing. I have a lil girl and what she knows about men and violence or anything for that matter is MY responsibility. Not Rhianna’s. You rear up your children to be INFLUENCED by YOU and the Lords word. Not People magazine. Rhianna adn Chris are for enetrtainment, Parents and your “village” are for influencing. Yes, our kids see this on TV, but how they process what they are seeing and hearing is ALL on how planted the “right, wrong, and common sense seeds in your child.

My take on Chris--Rihanna next | 3/6/2009, 11:40 am EST

My first inclination was to condemn and villainize Chris Brown. Then I thought about his childhood. From my understanding, he grew up with an extremely abusive stepfather who battered Chris and his mother for years. What do we really expect from a young guy who never learned the right tools to deal with immense pressure? Where were all those feelings of anger, hatred, fear, and vengeance toward himself and his stepfather to go? Truly they don’t just evaporate. Those feelings are buried within. And the perfect storm of youth, love, career pressure, vulnerabilities, hormones, anger, etc. created a pressure cooker that exploded in the violence he learned as a kid. When the stepfather left, did Chris’ mother take her son anywhere to undo the damage that was done? Probably not. I think God’s blessing to Chris is that HE didn’t allow Chris to choke hold Rihanna another 20 seconds and kill her. That was Chris’s blessing. He should take that, go and seek professional psychological help, and then move on with his life (albeit, it may be behind bars). What I don’t like about Chris is that he seems to be scheming to skew this whole ordeal in a way that diminishes his horrific actions. I hear he is the one that tipped off reporters that he was reuniting with (maybe even married) Rihanna over the weekend. This speaks volumes as to who he is, even more so than the violent attack. He is cunning, unremorseful, and unbelievably selfish to further use her to minimize his depravity and to salvage his career. It’s sad enough that he lost control and almost killed Rihanna, but it’s a whole new level of low to continue to emotional abuse her by reconciling for the sole purpose of trying to absolve himself from his pathetic actions against her…now, my first and second inclinations are to condemn and villanize Chris Brown.

Angelic | 3/6/2009, 11:43 am EST

Kids or not, There responsible for there actions. They chose to entertain the world. Do you honestly think Chris is sorry? I dont see any remorse, he wants to lavish her with gifts and make her feel special, just to save his but! This is a pattern seen all to much in the world and now its become a huge thing all over the world. I have had to talk to both of my children about it. They loved both singers and feel betrayed! The kids that need protection are ours who believed that Rhianna was a strong woman and Chris was a great guy, That went right out the window!

CHRIS U LOSER | 3/6/2009, 11:44 am EST

lol @ krystal_ball i think chris needs help and quick this is bad the brothers dont get good press as it is and this aint gonna help, rihanna should get out now and heal herself through this. he wants her back when this case hasnt even been solved he wants to use her to save himself but shes too blinded by love to leave him. how long did it take tina o leave ike? or even whitney and bobby? if she wants to go in that path God help her.

Angelic | 3/6/2009, 11:54 am EST

Tessie~Yes this is why I had to talk to my children about it. The point is where is the justice? When is abuse and violence going to be a serious topic and have consequences regardless of whos involved. That was basically attempted murder, he could have killed her. We can give our kids the right tools on abuse but why should Chris and Rhianna be excused because there young. They chose to be role models when they signed up to be singers. I just wish the topic was taken more serious, there no excuse in the world for what he did and its really sad that Rhianna cant see it for what it really is

Anyone who listens to Rihanna or Chris Brown has lost all credibility to talk about “taste in music”.

mr. goodtimes | 3/6/2009, 12:06 pm EST

These comments are ridiculous…I honestly could care less about either of these artists, I didn’t even know who chris brown was before this incident, and Rihanna is another glossed up pop star who will fade into obscurity within 5 years anyways…but all you people defending his actions, like “maybe they were playing”, are you fucking stupid? Since when has “playing” been classified as socking someone out multiple times?? Another person posts something regarding white/black artist and appropriate punishment…it has nothing to do with the color of someone’s skin, and everything to do with the actions that someone partakes in, white, black, green, red, purple, who cares? He seriously assaulted someone and is charged accordingly. Then there is question of his upbringing, which I know nothing about, but no matter how bad it was there is a point where that does not become a scapegoat for all your wrongdoings, if you can make it in the music business , or any business, you have a sense of how your actions can impact other people. I cannot believe how brainwashed some of you are to think that anything that happens in Hollywood should be treated with a special touch, because they are STARS…im sure if your neighbor beat the shit outta his wife Mrs. Jones it would be a different story.

Why are they being called role models they have not done anything important they are just displaying their talents like everyone else in the country. It is totally ridiculous to pretend that we know these people…. they are pop stars not saints. My opinion is that they are both responsible for what took place Rihanna did something to piss Chris off thats why she took him back, will not press charges, or testify against him. They need to remember that what is done in the dark ALWAYs come to the light.

Someone needs to get through to Rihanna’s brain and make sure she understands that what Chris Brown did was wrong on every level. And that no matter how many times he says he’s sorry and he loves her that he DOESN’T. You cannot treat someone like this and really love them. Period. SHe needs help to discover why she would stay with an abusive, immature, bullying, misogynistic boy who doesn’t have the ability to control himself. His lack of empathy and his rage are a lethal combination. Not only should Rihanna beware of him but so should any other girl he ever wants to “date”.
He definitely should pay the price for his actions. If he doesn’t what a message it sends.

samanthaaa | 3/6/2009, 1:05 pm EST

he never had to do that the sooner he gets punished the better.rihanna shouldnt stick by him its just wrong.

TheCoz | 3/6/2009, 1:06 pm EST

@ Superherpes!

I agree completely with your assessment of Ghostface Killah. His lyrics make it seem that it was wrong to hit Rihanna only because she is “sexy”. The point is, it is wrong for ANY man to hit ANY woman, regardless of how “hot” she may or may not be.

Joi | 3/6/2009, 1:31 pm EST

oMG..Seriously, everyone is being so ignorant!!! For one, regardlesss to personal opinions of their music, Chris and Rihanna’s CDs sell and they are well liked among the pop culture. Also, I haven’t heard Rihanna say she was marrying him ever!!! If she decides to stay by him as a friend or girlfriend during this ordeal, she is doing it to help his future and his image, because at the end of the day I know she feels guilty, NOT THAT SHE SHOULD, but her involving law enforcement has put everyone in their business nothing is worse than this, including almost being killed by someone you love, I know that this is not what she wanted or what she has worked hard for, to be a everlasting reflection of a weak abused young woman. This is one reason why women don’t talk about their abuse because they become judged and rideculed by others. What he did was reprehensive and he should be under the jail for it, but that dosen’t mean Rihanna can hate him overnight. If you love someone or think you love someone decisions like this are often clouded and much harder to make than these morons are acknowledging, but she is not on the darn Disney channel, and just because she is an Icon doesn’t make her a role model, people have to be wise in informing children that entertainers are just that, entertainers, they are not perfect, they have to answer to God and the Law for their actions like everyone else. (Money helps their problems) But Chris is now in a situation that no money can really help, and hoenstly, I think he has probably learned alot from this experience, people beat their wives and children everyday, he beat up his girlfriend and has to answer to the entire world regading his actions, faces jail time, and has lost every endorsement he has…. So people SHUT UP! Let them live their lives. They are adults and have the right to make their own choices, I think that is what Rihannas Dad also meant in his comment.

chris brown should not be given anymore chances.. for the people who think different need help.. have you not seen the pictures?? its fucking horrible.. it doesnt matter what she said.. no women ever deserves that.. chris brown will get a second chance and a slap on the wrist.. how many celebrities have gotten away with murder? its sad what our world has come too..

Joi | 3/6/2009, 1:43 pm EST

One More thing.. People are talking all this crap about What Rhianna Did… to piss him off to that extent. There is nothing on earth that is that serious. Alot of people get angry everyday, they catch their significant other cheating, or doing who knows what… My husband and I are young, we get mad, curse, yell, but we never get physical. There is no excuse to ever beat up anyone the way CHris beat up Rihanna, I would do that to someone who hurt my child and that’s is the only justifiable secenaior for beating anyone that way. He beat her as if he wanted her dead, that is beyond loss of control!!!! Nonetheless, this wasn’t the first time he got physical, not if he was saying he was gonna beat her ass when they got home…its something that has been escalating…

brianna | 3/6/2009, 2:05 pm EST

I love chris brown and what he did it was wrong but idk…y chris y?=(

Concerned | 3/6/2009, 2:05 pm EST

First I would like to say that the media has completely blown this out of proportion. I don’t condone or agree with violence but there is always two sides to every story. And this one seems a little one-sided. She gave the account to the police of what happened, but I don’t know if anyone knows this or not but it takes two hands to drive a Lamborghini because of the shifting of the gears and if he was hitting her while he was driving like she said, he is good! I read the account of the incident and the compartment of that car is very small and she said she turned her back to the door and pushed him with here feet. Why didn’t he crash the car and where is his scratches and bruises. Why wasn’t there any marks on Chris if she” tried to gouge his eyes out”. Then she was on the beach in Mexico with a bikini on and where were the marks on her body from her being punched with his fists. When a person is abused and hit they way she described, there are bruises – why wasn’t her body bruised. Where were the paparazzi? They are always following stars around, why wasn’t they following them. When the picture surfaced, it was hard to believe and the picture didn’t look like her (and still doesn’t) and they said the photo was photoshopped and all the other rumors concerning JZay giving her an STD and she was pregnant. Of course, let’s not forget how Rihanna said she use to fight her brother including the incident where she broke a bottle and cut him with it. Even in one of her songs she sings about fighting a man…Rihanna Breakin Dishes lyrics in the Good Girl Gone Bad Album. … He been gone since 3.30 (3.30), Been coming home lately at 3.30 (3.30) I’m super cool, I’ve been a fool, But now I’m hot and baby you’re gonna get it, Now I ain’t trippin’, I, I ain’t twisted, I ain’t demented, well just a little bit (huh), I’m kicking ass, I’m taking names, I’m on a flame, don’t come home babe. Man, I don’t know. I’m looking ’round for something else to throw …
[CHORUS] I’m breakin’ dishes up in here, All night (uh huh), I ain’t gonna stop until I see police lights (uh huh), I’m a fight a man (tonight), I’m a fight a man (tonight), I’m a fight a man, A man, on a m-a-a-a-aan. Why all of a sudden would she not fight back when she admitted she was a rough girl. Was it because she may have started the fight and it got out of hand. Is she now all of a sudden weak? I don’t believe it!!!. Rihanna is just as guilty as Chris and if another women was involved something else was going on. If he was thinking about leaving, she probably threatened him and told him like all women do to hold onto their man, if you think you are just going to walk away, I’m going to make you pay. With them being portrayed as the “sweet heart couple” to the world, she wasn’t going to look bad to everybody with him moving on to another person or even dating someone else. Granted no one was in that car but Chris, Rihanna and God! Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but until both people (Chris & Rihanna) speak out no one is going to know the true story.

Simple | 3/6/2009, 2:23 pm EST

As with most blogs of this type, there seem to be a lot of morons commenting. In this spirit, I will try to keep this as simple as possible, so you can follow along. First, Chris Brown beat the shit out of his girlfriend. Anyone making excuses for that deserves the shit beat out of them. Then let’s see if they keep making excuses. Secondly, if you make millions of dollars because you can dance, while most people work their asses off for food and a place to live, then expect some backlash when you act like an idiot. Supporting his music has everything to do with supporting him personally. If we don’t buy, Chris doesn’t eat. Then he’s just a regular guy, and the next time he hits a woman he can go to jail. Also, art is supposed to be an outer display of inner feelings, desires, and perspective. If his songs continue being the same as they were, he is not being honest. If he comes out with a song titled “I’m F-d UP and Don’t Know Why” I might listen to it. Otherwise, he can just sing in the shower. Next, let’s cover the whole black vs. whitey thing here. Um let’s see: Tommy Lee went to jail; Scott Peterson was sentenced to death for killing Laci; OJ got off (to the satisfaction of many in the black community); Iverson, Ike, Bobby Brown, R. f-ing Kelly–all free! So let’s drop the tired racist argument. If you beat your girl, pull guns on people, have sex with minors, or kill your wife who is caring your unborn child, YOU DESERVE TO GO TO PRISON!!! Condoning it because the perpetrator is black, is as stupid as hand-feeding a crocodile or betting on George Bush in a spelling bee. If in a few years, Chris Brown gets his head straight, I’m all about forgiveness, but to dismiss what he did simply because he’s black or famous is ridiculous. Finally, if anyone is offended by this comment, then it’s probably directly at you that I aimed it.

X- ing Diddy off my list too | 3/6/2009, 2:34 pm EST

What the heck is Sean Combs thinking? How can he sponsor a reconciliation at his home? Is he going to take responsibility for Rihanna’s next beat down (or worse)? Diddy is older. He should know better!!

I almost forgot something important. To all commenters: Learn how to fucking read and write! It is disgusting how illiterate this country is becoming. I feel like the whole country should be in remedial classes. Especially when so many are quick to call others stupid, meanwhile using the grammar and spelling of a third grader. Really? Really!

WOW | 3/6/2009, 2:42 pm EST

What an imagination Krystal_ball has, damn write a book.

I agree with My-Take | 3/6/2009, 2:45 pm EST

If Chris’ mother allowed Chris and herself to be abused by a man, what responsibility does she hold that her son turned out like this? I’m tired of women inviting violence and dysfunction around their kids, and when they grow up and exhibit the same behavior they lived, the mom is no where to be found. Women should exercise extreme caution when bringing new men into the lives of their kids.

Breezy | 3/6/2009, 2:53 pm EST

Chris is another example of our troubled youth. I don’t agree with the violence, but I also don’t agree that he should be locked up. Being placed behind bars has never solved anything. I pray that he is serious about seeking counseling. Now, put yourself in Chris’s shoes, would you want the treatment you are saying he deserves, to be placed under the jail. It is always easy to wish harm on another, but what if it were you or your brother, would you feel the same. Vengence is for the Lord, not us. We must pray for Chris and Rihanna. They are both very young, and apparently, very lost.

Joi | 3/6/2009, 3:17 pm EST

OKay Breezy, did you see what he did to her? Did you read the police report? Do you know how easily it is to die instantly from a one sudden blow to the head, I am going to assume no you dont know. But it is very easy, and while people can die instantly from ONE SINGLE blow to the head Rihanna received SEVERAL. There is no other reasonable side of the story that Chris can tell or that can exist for Chris to be redeemed from his actions. There is a fine line between murder and attempted murder and with what Chris did to her is in between that line by the Grace of God, Rihanna is still alive. Men who beat women are equivalent to the crap that sticks to the bottom trash cans. God made woman to be loved and protected by men, stand by their side and be a small light in their lives for men to abuse their power and strenghth to hurt a woman or anyone else weaker is a horrid crime.

And trobled youth, I and my brother are an example of troubled youth… Come from broken homes abusive step fathers, drugs, and violence, we both have college degrees and health relationships because we made concious decisions to make our lives better than what we saw growing up…Chris Brown should have done the same thing. NO EXCUSE!!!!

Someone With A Brain | 3/6/2009, 3:41 pm EST

Wow…..you people are so f’d up that you actually try to ‘understand’ Chris Browns actions. And, then you say – they’re adults??!!! WTF?! That’s being an adult? No wonder the this country (and the world) is shot. Values (like the economy) are as low as low can be. I’ll go so far as to say some of you advocate Chris Browns’ actions ’cause you’re capable or doing (or have done) the same to your significant others. Y’all suck…..quite frankly. Especially people like Ida. And ‘Concerned’ – you’re a complete f**king moron! You’re a cancer in todays world.

Tony in Los Angeles | 3/6/2009, 3:57 pm EST

All of you people sittin up passing judgement on these two young adults…shame on you! Your lives must be really pathetic to lash out at two people you don’t even know. Until you have walked in either one of their shoes, shut ur filthy mouths. Chris Brown is human and made a mistake, allow him time to deal with it. Rihanna made the decision to reconcile with Chris, two each its own.

Brandon S. | 3/6/2009, 3:59 pm EST

Voice of Reason | 3/6/2009, 4:34 pm EST

Hey Breezy – the LORD has not ‘judged’ in over 2 centuries. The LORD has not helped this world to be a better place. It is up to humans – you know – the living beings on this planet – to put an end to violence. Jail time never solved anything?!!?! What the F – are you on? In case you haven’t noticed – counseling and so-called rehab drugs have not done a damn thing to help this world either! Wake up, people! Stop the pity party crap for people who don’t deserve it! Give pity to noone – PITY never helped anybody! It’s almost as wasteful an emotion as jealousy. If you’re really into the bible stuff – than you’d know that GOD has given us freedom on this planet to do what we want. And, complacency such as what we’re seeing today – and in your dopey ass comment – is a sin. Judgement on Chris???? HELL “YEAH!!~!~ The guys a loser for hitting another human! Period!

I can only imagine what Mark Geragos is whispering in Brown’s ear. Reconcile and that will look better for you! Yup, Mr. Geragos is known for his down and dirty tactics. That girl needs to learn that abusers usually don’t quit until the person they are hitting leaves…and sometimes they still try to get to them. That is why it is called “restraining order”.

Nathan | 3/6/2009, 8:43 pm EST

Looks like the 2009 Ike Turner award goes to Chris Brown. Previous winners include: OJ Simpson, Michael Vick and Iron Mike Tyson.

Most of you, are a bunch of dolts!

Mikey | 3/6/2009, 10:02 pm EST

I’d like to see Brown forced to enlist in either the Army or the Marines and then complete a mandatory tour as an infantryman in Iraq or Afghanistan. That would be justice in my opinion. Plus, Brown might then learn or thing or two about pain and suffering and perhaps come out of all this a better person.

Y | 3/6/2009, 10:04 pm EST

p diddy sean whatever your name is now, step back, you had no right or calling to try to mend a situation you hope to profit from. Rihanna should be surrounded by caring family members and real friends. The behavior of chris brown should be stopped now and the message reinforced that abuse to woman or any human being will not be tolerated at any level of society.

JustCurious | 3/7/2009, 12:28 am EST

FOOD FOR THOUGHT : I’m curious as to why when people only have half of the story, they have already tried and convicted Chris Brown ! How does anyone know the whole story when the whole story hasn’t been told ? For all we know Rhianna could have been the aggressor. Doesn’t anyone find the location of the bite mark a little odd ? How do we know that Rhianna didn’t assualt Mr. Brown? Are we to be so unreasonalbe as to feel that a woman can assualt a man and he has no right to fight back ? Don’t men have feelings also, are they not human beings? And please no one wants to hear the excuse that men are superior to woman and they should stand there and take what ever a woman dishes out, and then by the same token demand equality! I have been an abused woman and I work with abused people every day men and woman. Let it be said that maybe Rhianna is not the right woman for Mr. Brown instaed of the other way around ! Nothing about Rhiannas’ music or personality says VICTOM to many people. So maybe just maybe the media and battered women activist have it all wrong, maybe it’s not Rhianna that needs saving, maybe it’s Chris Brown. I guess it just can’t be that Rhianna is a jealous and volital girlfriend right ?

Anonymous | 3/7/2009, 2:05 am EST

I am absolutey sick and tired of people saying that we don’t know the full story and that perhaps she were abusing him. Let’s look at the facts. One, he is 6′2 and 195 pounds of pure muscle versus her 5′9 130 pound frame. If there were any possible abuse on her part in the locale of the vehicle, it could only possibly be verbal. And verbal abuse is no reason to beat the shit out of someone and then try to choke them unconcious. Notice that he walked away with no noticible scars to our knowledge and she walked away ooking like she had horns on her forehead, busted lips, a swoen nostril, and severe emotional distress. Second, look at the police documents, they elucidate gruesome details of his actions. Suppose some of those satements are fabricated, what can explain her injuries if that didn’t happen. I’m sure you all saw the photo. Chris Brown has shown very little remorse, he’s more concerned about his image than the damage that he’s done. Jet skiing and partying shows that he’s comfortable and actually believes that he can beat the case. I admit that Rihanna is stupid as all hell to get back with his ass but she will see that the dissapointment that plagues us will soon pervade her career and she will have a dismal fan base as he has now. The point is, he punched her around like she was a man! I could see if he shoved her or even slapped her, and even that should not EVER happen. But no he continued to punch on her like she had everlast written on her face and body. I think he should get jail time and I think the judgse should make an example of his ass. That way he can dance his ass around jail while trying not to drop the soap. Bastard!!!

Firstly I would like to say.
Krystal_Ball, you have an amazing imagination. Seriously, You should be an Author.
But as For Reality, stick to Fiction.
Concerned: I Totally see Your point as i never thought of it that way. I dont understand why people think its stupid but it is true, there are two sides to every story and this story only has one side.
Before You take offense to this comment. It is my opinion and I do not Believe in Domestic Violence and i Do believe what Chris did is wrong.
SoWhat: your a DUMBASS.
Just Because she might of taken him back You hope she dies. We all make mistakes, we shouldnt judge you for what you did but what you did to sort it out.
And lastly. The comments about ‘this wouldnt happen if He were Black’, is Racism.
The coulor of your skin means nothing to what you have done or how you are punished but to the extent of your crime. And if Chris is punished then rightly so!
God Bless

Eventually, you’re going to suffer the consequences for a servere crime like domestic abuse-no matter how talented or innovative you are. Nonetheless, it sucks Chris Brown is living under a nearly dominant black cloud at the very height of his career(him being a prodigy in the making)-especially at such a pubescent age.

Ruscha: I explained this once before, but apparently not simply enough for you, so I’ll try to dumb it down. Music is art. Art is an expression of life. Therefore, an artist’s life and his art (in this case music) are not seperate. You follow this time?

Simple | 3/10/2009, 12:23 am EST

As for the rappers, Ruscha: they rap about “slapping hos,” so if they do it, no one is surprised. Chris Brown claims to be the nice guy and sings syrupy-sweet ballads. That shit doesn’t add up–unless his next single is about multiple personalities.

Chris Brown should be thought a lesson….. I knew he could be of such act.. Whenever i watch is video,i always see this hard guy and an aggressive look on his face… Go to hell…..Rihanna is my baby and i love her.. She needs to be strong, she need to take bow and never go back to him…

Think about it, if you were really getting your a** kicked like she’s describing wouldn’t you run? This story has alot of missing pieces! I still believe that Chris is redeemable, people especially young people make mistakes sometimes BIG ones but i know he’s sorry and has learned a lesson i don’t think he would ever do anything like this again that’s assuming he actually did these things she’s accusing him of doing let it go people

If a man was punching me like this i would not remove his keys and sit on them, i would not remain in the car as soon as he pulled over i would have been out her story doesn’t sound right i’m sure there is an element of truth but something is being left out. i will be so glad when this whole mess is over so you losers can go back to you angry little lives
