Guns n’ Roses Planning Summer Stadium Tour

Axl Rose intends to follow last November’s release of Chinese Democracy with a worldwide Guns n’ Roses stadium tour this summer, according to industry insiders. If it comes to pass, the tour would mark the first U.S. stadium dates for the current line-up of Guns — their 2002 and 2006-’07 tours were arena outings, with some overseas stadium shows. (And contrary to one persistent online rumor, the band has absolutely no plans of playing Spain’s Kobetasonik Festival this June.)

Meanwhile, Guns’ manager, Irving Azoff, tells Rolling Stone that the band has big plans for this year. “Axl has been basically quiet, keeping out of the limelight for almost 15 years. People think they know him but they only really only know what has been said about him by questionable people,” Azoff says. “He is a good guy and often misunderstood — he is a professional who has worked very hard to build and maintain a high creative standard for Guns n’ Roses, which I support. We have some exciting things in the works this year for Gn’R, I’m looking forward to it.”

Since the release of Chinese Democracy in November 2008, Rose has mostly remained silent, speaking to fans via a message board and two interviews. Regarding the possibility of a large-scale tour, Axl told Billboard, “No plans, but there’s talk. Management and our promoters are really excited with the offers coming in both here and worldwide.”

Awesome news! Can’t wait to see Gn’R again this summer. Saw them in ‘06 and they tore it up like nobody else!

anthony pittarelli | 3/4/2009, 7:01 pm EST

oh great i havent seen guns and roses since 1987!

Dave | 3/4/2009, 7:01 pm EST

How about an announcement from Axl stating exactly WHO besides himself is in Guns N’ Roses these days?

Josh | 3/4/2009, 7:03 pm EST

About time gn’r gets back and kicks some serious ass. this line up is awesome and Chinese Democracy is amazing.

way to go Axl, finally something more productive than bashing people in the press. You have a new band it’s time to show it to the world, not mess with the past

Cheesecrop | 3/4/2009, 7:12 pm EST

A stadium tour sounds fine, just watch the prices. The way things are going, it can’t be some $150 & above situation, or you may see a half filled house.

I say more power to him if he can pull it off & make it economical.

matt | 3/4/2009, 7:25 pm EST

Okay, how do we know Axl will follow through with a stadium tour? Whatever happened to that music video for Better?

Steve | 3/4/2009, 7:34 pm EST

Maybe they’ll tour with ‘Faith No More’. That would be nice to see.

Marc | 3/4/2009, 7:36 pm EST

Ok, two years ago, they had trouble filling a lot of the arenas. Now, after the album flops, they decide it’s a good idea to move on to stadiums???

Ken | 3/4/2009, 7:36 pm EST

Come on, who really cares anymore! Ablum is awful and you know tickets will start T $75. Get real.

Slash | 3/4/2009, 7:37 pm EST

Axl, give me a call.

Bridgette | 3/4/2009, 7:50 pm EST

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait!!!!!

Bridgette | 3/4/2009, 7:50 pm EST

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait!!!!!

Ari | 3/4/2009, 8:10 pm EST

He should stop this “G N’R” bullshit. Nobody wants to see him alone calling himself ‘Guns’ along with a bunch of no-namers. If he got with Duff and got a new lead guitarist, seeing that he’s jealous of Slash and would never reconcile, then maybe I might see them.

nfalls75 | 3/4/2009, 8:13 pm EST

Stadium tour? Seriously? Nobody bought this lame album. How does he expect to fill a stadium? Maybe he should change it to a tour of Elk’s Clubs and dinner theaters.

Schlangemann | 3/4/2009, 8:17 pm EST

I really hope the tour will also include europe cuz we already were left out by such acts like Van Halen. They toured the US back and forth but no single show in europe. So let’s hope for the best with GnR this time. but I doubt Guns is able to sell out multiple Stadiums in the US anyway. The arenas in 2006 were also far from sold out, so…

lets wait and see, like it has always been with guns.

The One | 3/4/2009, 8:22 pm EST

Album is great and should be a great show for a stadium. Can’t wait to see this happen. Axl is still the best frontman out there. And he is the heart and soul of GN’R

Greendale | 3/4/2009, 8:22 pm EST

In true Axl Rose fashion, he goes against the grain. “The Most Anticipated Album of All Time” bombs, then he decides to tour STADIUMS. Ha!!!!
In keeping with tradition, when the stadiums sell to roughly 40% capacity, he’ll have someone other than himself to blame. Gurantee it.

Jungleland2 | 3/4/2009, 8:23 pm EST

Don’t think they are big enough for the Stadiums anymore. I bet they will hit the 17,000 seat sheds instead in most markets. Even the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Springsteen and Billy Joel are in Arenas this time around.

slash | 3/4/2009, 8:23 pm EST

can i come along

slash | 3/4/2009, 8:24 pm EST

Axel im sorry for what happend in the past and for what was said ;with that said lets talk and put it behind us and jam together

Hunter | 3/4/2009, 8:27 pm EST

GNR all by itself can not do a stadium tour. Having seen them 3 times since 2002 I can say a smaller theatre setting with a capacity of 6000 would be perfect. However…. maybe Axl is going to something like Ozzy and Ozzfest? An all day festival style tour would be killer. That would be good for Guns.

emoo | 3/4/2009, 8:29 pm EST

Im looking forward to a great tour. Seen gnr in 92,02,06 and the new line up is incredible live!!!! Axl is truly a brilliant showman. As one brilliant man once said “how can you be late to your own show?”……congrats gnr to a great album

tim | 3/4/2009, 8:47 pm EST

ill be there to see a great show

Axl | 3/4/2009, 9:12 pm EST

slash | 3/4/2009, 8:23 pm EST

can i come along

Of course not Slash, you haven’t done a damn thing for me. I’m God!!

Rock | 3/4/2009, 9:17 pm EST

i reli wish i was alive to c them in the 80’s cauz i absolutely love GNR even though its just axl rose and other ppl now. i love steven, slash and the rest and cant wait for a reunion, but im gonna go to this cauz I LOVE AXL TO

Jeff | 3/4/2009, 9:23 pm EST

Yeah right – stadiums everywhere else, theaters here.

You watch – “warmup shows” in the U.S. in smaller venues in preparation for stadium shows internationally.

I love Axl and Chinese and the new band but they couldn’t sell out a little league field in America the way things are at the moment.

Nathan | 3/4/2009, 9:30 pm EST

I’m there!! Come back to St. Louis, Axl! We won’t riot this time, we promise!

BoratRose | 3/4/2009, 9:54 pm EST

Stadium gigs might play well over seas, but Axl is crazy if he thinks it will fly in the US. Stick to the arenas my corn-rowed friend…

Raulinc | 3/4/2009, 9:59 pm EST

Please make it happen!

Anonymous | 3/4/2009, 10:01 pm EST

I don’t get it.

Other than a few scattered sellouts like Madison Square Garden, the majority of shows on the last GNR tour, only a few short years ago, played to mostly half-empty houses.

So why would they think they could fill stadiums this time?

On top of it, Chinese Democracy, while I won’t call it a total flop, has been something of a commercial disappointment.

And combined with a US economy in the toilet, a GNR stadium tour this year does not sound like a smart move at all.

(Not criticizing…. just keeping it real, as they say.)

nik | 3/4/2009, 10:05 pm EST

hey “BoratRose” below me..FUCK YOU! this tour is gunna be fucking awesome! i cant wait. axl and the boys are gunna put on a fucking amazing show!

Love it! | 3/4/2009, 10:07 pm EST

The new Guns N’ Roses Album is awesome, and it will be great to see Axl live again!

Believe me, there is a huge audience out there that is happy to hear the news…regardless of the negative banter that seems to plague Axl.

Stephen Pearcy | 3/4/2009, 10:14 pm EST

And guess who’s opening up?

RATT -N- ROLL 4-EVA

theOne | 3/4/2009, 10:19 pm EST

Axhole is such a loser, it takes him 14+ years to make a sh!tty record.

Ax-Man | 3/4/2009, 10:20 pm EST

GNR with a combination of Sebastian Bach, Korn, Faith No More, A7X = good show.

Put money on it.

KC | 3/4/2009, 10:22 pm EST

Nice!

jcj | 3/4/2009, 10:35 pm EST

maybe it’ll be another 15 years before they tour. lol.

Bill | 3/4/2009, 10:39 pm EST

GnR opening up for The Stones might sell out a stadium tour, but that’s about it…

Boston | 3/4/2009, 11:00 pm EST

I don’t get it…Gun’s and Roses was a great band, when it was Gun’s and Roses…this is just Axl Rose, with a collection of musicians behind him. Call it what it is…Axl Rose solo tour. Without Slash, Izzy, Duff and Matt, it’s a f’n joke. I hope the tour bombs like his album..get put away your pride and get back with the band..now that would be worth talking about

the real Jeff! | 3/4/2009, 11:09 pm EST

They will sell out the first place they decide to go too. I know I will be there!

lodger | 3/4/2009, 11:27 pm EST

Guess Axl’s gotta make some money somehow. God knows he hasn’t made his money off the album…

Irving Azoff | 3/4/2009, 11:36 pm EST

Axl is misunderstood ( he is a asshole living in a false reality)

Chinese Democracy ( huge bomb)

Stadium tour (maybe if it was 1987 with the original line up)

hate-filled man | 3/4/2009, 11:56 pm EST

G’n f-in’ R RULE! Or ruled. Once. It was lightin’ in a bottle, my friends. That original line up, the two and a half good albums…you’re not going to see that again from the likes of them. Axl is an asshole, and even he should recognize that. And the rest of the band, they’re assholes too. Nothing to be done about it. I’m an asshole. I know from assholes. And the one thing you’ll learn about assholes is they never do the right thing. And if they ever manage to please you, it’s by accident. But gosh I like those songs from the eighties!

Bill | 3/5/2009, 12:40 am EST

I am not a huge fan of Axl and how he’s handled the band going all the way back to Slash’s departure. But I think the album is really good. Not the G’N'R we are used to, but good music nonetheless and Axl still sounds good in the studio. I wish his band was called something else (cause it’s not G’N'R) but I will be there to see them if they come my way. Chinese Democracy is a great album.

waste.... | 3/5/2009, 12:52 am EST

Exactly what my name is…..

Pat Allen | 3/5/2009, 1:03 am EST

I don’t know I’m a bit torn. I love the old guns n roses but the new one is great as well. If you look at all the albums and bands Axl has been in he can change his sound and musical style very easily. Each song is the result of a perfectionist spending hours and day and years creating something pretty incredible when taken from a song to song standpoint. Each song is unique and never just thrown together. Sure it might not be what it was back in the 80’s but I really like this new style and sound as well. Axl is a great artist and the same can go for Slash, Duff and Izzy as well. I cant wait to see what Axl does next and I cant wait to see what the next velvet revolver sounds like. Keep up the good work guys

Pat Allen | 3/5/2009, 1:06 am EST

oh and please don’t forget to book a gig for Texas either

james | 3/5/2009, 1:07 am EST

Once dates are announced Rolling Stone should take bets on how many times Axl shows up late or not at all before the promoters realize that he’s insane and cancel the tour.

eruption1962 | 3/5/2009, 1:12 am EST

Wouldn’t mind seeing Buckethead back in the fold…if this tour materializes

mullethead | 3/5/2009, 1:23 am EST

True to form the morons are out in force whining about whatever Axl does. This time, it’s going on tour. Whining about GnR touring. How can you whine about someone going on tour?

layene | 3/5/2009, 1:38 am EST

Ты как обычно радуешь нас своими лучшими фразами спасибо, беру!

Reality is.... | 3/5/2009, 1:44 am EST

Look people, Chinese democracy was a long awaited album and after taking the time to give it a chance…it is a great piece of work. A dud..it sold 3 million copies and is the most downloaded (ie stolen) album on the web.

Welcome back axl…good to hear you again.

giggy | 3/5/2009, 2:22 am EST

Saw the band in 2006. Axl was the show. He could still scream but he took long breaks off the stage. The shredders are good guitar players but slash’s playing sounds better on the original songs. The old band was much better live. Axl has slowed a bit and the others just stand around and are actually pretty boring to watch. Good in the studio but not the best live. They sound alright but the show is nothing special. For everyone saying this will be a highly attended tour. They couldn’t sell out 15000 seat arenas so how do they think they can do a stadium tour. Better get 3 kick ass opening acts. Oh and axl usually doesn’t go on before midnight

Pale Ale | 3/5/2009, 2:43 am EST

Can someone to me point out where Axl is quoted as saying they’re going to play stadiums. Thankyou.

jacky | 3/5/2009, 4:08 am EST

well i guess i`ll be doing overtime to pay for as many shows that i can go to can`t wait, oh and for all the doubters you seem to know such a lot about a band and an album that you don`t like it`s funny if it was a band i didn`t like i wouldn`t waste my time commenting!

Larry Twiggs | 3/5/2009, 4:29 am EST

My mate Mike DeFonza and I can’t wait to see Guns and Roses. I remember seeing them in sydney back in the day. Boy did they rock the house like no other band. I’m so happy they are doing this. I almost spilled my instant coffee when I read the news. Axl Rose is the Chief and I for one will be wearing my tracksuit and getting out there to see them. Max Dodgy, I guy i know, heard they were going to split up but I never believed that for a moment. They will tower above all others for sure. i was checking out rivastakeout.com and saw some interesting retro stuff. Might go make another coffee and stakeout some more stuff on the Gunners.

Peace and Love. Larry.

rockergirl54 | 3/5/2009, 4:42 am EST

Hope they plan a tour for OKC, or Tulsa. Missed them when I lived in St. Louis many years ago and of course there was a riot and scandal. But what can I say, awesome music!

mjstarr | 3/5/2009, 4:46 am EST

So maybe the world hasn’t finally come to a end… I would be willing to bet that we all see a reunion of Great Guns N Roses, people said that Kiss would never reunited or Van Halen reunited. But who really know what can or could be… So Slash & Axel kiss & make up life is to short. Then you die… But your music will always rock your fans forever…

raadiopea | 3/5/2009, 7:01 am EST

Steve, no way FNM would be touring with GnR (again). Didn’t FNM/Patton tend to slag off big-name-acts such as GnR, RHCP?

maria | 3/5/2009, 8:34 am EST

WOW!!!! The 2009 Chinese Democracy tour!!PLEASE AXL COME IN ITALY AGAIN!!!

Axl the Best | 3/5/2009, 8:40 am EST

Awesome!A great tour for a great album! Can’t wait to see you Axl!

STADIUM TOUR??? | 3/5/2009, 8:41 am EST

STADIUMS??? Is Axl kidding? They couldn’t even sell out hockey arenas last time out and now he’s thinking stadiums?

Guys…this line-up is NOT G’N R. Seening G ‘N R now is like seeing Mick Jagger live without Keith Ronnie and Charlie and calling it the Rolling Stones.

Why do people insist that Axl was G ‘N R when it was Slash, Duff, Izzy, Steven (and Matt too)and it will always be.

Stay away from the tour and piss Axl off even more.

Total baby he is!

julien | 3/5/2009, 8:45 am EST

I hate to say this, but can Axl fill a stadium? I love the new band and I love Chinese Democracy, but I saw them in an arena on the last tour and the place was only 3/4 full. Perhaps there will be multiple big name bands on the bill. Anyway, I wish them all the best!

jacoby | 3/5/2009, 10:09 am EST

fact…this new GNR sold out many stadiums back in 06 without a new record. although some claim chinese democracy was a flop in the US, it sold over 3 million copies world wide, mostly in Europe where they still have good taste in music…fact. Now that they are going to support the album, Axl will probably get off his but and do some promotion, interviews, talk shows, etc. they can still rock even with this new incarnation and will sell out some stadiums, but not all. the major markets will still sell very well.

Papa | 3/5/2009, 10:11 am EST

Stadium Tour? They’d be lucky to fill 4 to 5k seat pavillions. The demand is not there.

kevin | 3/5/2009, 10:19 am EST

It seems a lot of people here are really psyched about this, but I think if Axl goes through with this (and it has to be a big IF unless he’s a total idiot), the dates will go on sale, no one will buy, and it’ll be hastily called off. This will be a mega disaster.

so if indeed, there ARE things happening THIS year, could axl elaborate on “who he really is”, or “how he really is” so we dont have misperceptions from “questionable people” who have fed us over 10 years now, if you gonna go public, GO PUBLIC! spread the word, speak up! cause as of now i’ve been shocked by everything axl has said (mostly regarding slash and co.) and please if you do put a book out, write it with a writer! cause axl, you don’t make much sense grammatically. Fans will appreciate, i garanty you.
other then that, a tour? sounds good, but what about the ‘better’ video, or the official CD covers? one thing at a time he? and what about guns n’ roses on tour? (and i don’t mean the axl rose project) …

Chinese Democracy by Stabbing Westward..errr, Guns N Roses hasn’t even gone gold in AMERICA. You know, that country that bought 17 Mil copies of Apetite, 10 mil copies of Illusion 1 & 2, and just recently sold 2 mil of the REAL GnR’s greatest hits. As far as WORLDWIDE. You mean the same world that made “Baywatch” number 1 for years?

This tour is going to bomb…at least in the US. I’m possibly one of the biggest G N R fans and i love Chinese Democracy but it’s not selling well enough for them to play stadiums. They don’t even have a video out and it’s been almost 5 months! Also, the last two times they came to Detroit I was there and they sold maybe half of a twenty thousand seat arena. If they can’t sell that out how are they going to sell more seats in a stadium. The band needs to play small arenas then it’ll seem like it’s a comeback. I’m sorry but that’s the truth.

jacoby | 3/5/2009, 3:50 pm EST

I think if GNR was smart, they would co-headline with another big act to make sure they sell out the venues.

jacoby | 3/5/2009, 3:50 pm EST

I think if GNR was smart, they would co-headline with another big act to make sure they sell out the venues.

rumors | 3/5/2009, 4:00 pm EST

of a GNR Van Halen tour together this summer….

newgnr-vs-vr | 3/5/2009, 4:22 pm EST

i dont think axl cares how much he sells
he probably just wants the new line-up to experience stadiums like the old line-up did back in the appetite and illusion tours.
he doesn’t need to sell full stadiums. he has enough money. he just wants the new guys to have fun.

stephen | 3/5/2009, 4:25 pm EST

Co headline stadiums with Metallica,or STP,that the only way they can pull this off.

Leonardo | 3/5/2009, 4:36 pm EST

Have to agree with Roxxy Starr…they should play small venues in the US to test the reception and then move forward to stadiums with another act (like Van Halen or Metallica)

However, as their 2006-07 tour proved, they will sell out every gig outside US…

Either way…get Robin Finck back and let’s rock…

Bret | 3/5/2009, 4:37 pm EST

Welcome to the jungle, we’ve got fun n’ games….

Mr Brownstone | 3/5/2009, 4:49 pm EST

Here in Europe,They’d sell out any stadium within 30 minutes.

This I Love : Axl Rose | 3/5/2009, 5:14 pm EST

In the arena, in the stadium, on the moon..I DON’T CARE WHERE, I WANT TO SEE THE GREATEST ROCKSTAR OF THE PLANET!!! AXL WELCOME BACK!

Axl | 3/5/2009, 5:56 pm EST

WELCOME BACK AXL

pigman | 3/5/2009, 6:23 pm EST

get robin, get robin, get robin back now!!!!!!

Miike | 3/5/2009, 6:28 pm EST

You got to be kiddin, LOL!

ARTWANKER | 3/5/2009, 7:15 pm EST

Saw G&R in Nagoya,2007. Sold out 15000 seat arena, played 2.5 hours, pleasantly surprised given their reputation for being unpredictable…but, isn’t that just part of the thrill of a REAL rock and roll show, anyway? All the really great bands have had that air of ‘what’s gonna happen tonight?’ about them. The Rolling Stones, in their heyday, could be brilliant one night, and total shite the next.To me,that’s what made it all exciting. America has it’s head up it’s collective arse as far as music is concerned these days. If I were Mr. Rose, I wouldn’t even waste my time there. The rest of the world still appreciates a good rock show.

tom | 3/5/2009, 7:28 pm EST

Guns N Roses in a stadium this summer. I cant fucking wait.

Slash | 3/5/2009, 7:34 pm EST

Yo what’s up dog? If you have trouble selling tickets I can rent you my back yard. It seats about 30-40 people but we can easily add about 20 more seats. You know, on the small chance the show sells out.

Dave | 3/5/2009, 7:36 pm EST

Chinese Democracy really is a fine record, but Axl shouldn’t call the band Guns N’ Roses anymore. I mean, Paul McCartney formed Wings in the 70’s and wasn’t egotistical enough to call it The Beatles.

As for a stadium tour–I think the new lineup is really solid, but just three years ago, the band couldn’t sell out 20,000 seat arenas. Unless Axl has convinced the surviving members of Led Zeppelin to open for him, he’s biting off more than he can chew.

micheal jackson | 3/5/2009, 9:15 pm EST

i’m going ontour, you can open for me…have your people call my people…

gazza | 3/5/2009, 9:48 pm EST

cant stop listening to the new album, axel u still kick ass!!
cheers mate and hope to see u in oz 09*

bennie new york | 3/6/2009, 12:41 am EST

i love axl and i love the new album, but does he seriously think he can fill stadiums? sometimes i don’t know whether the guy is being ballsy or being stupid. actually i think he’s the one who has the two confused.

truthslap | 3/6/2009, 12:57 am EST

At GNR’s peak, they had to co-headline with Metallica to play stadiums. If it’s just going to be Axl and teh new guys, there is no way they can play stadiums in 2009. The new album is interesting, but not a GNR record.
I smell a reunion….Axl is almost 50, how much longer can he wait to cash the check?

mr brownstone | 3/6/2009, 2:11 am EST

at least there will be a lot of available seats

Rock1chick | 3/6/2009, 2:57 am EST

Have been reading these comments with some amusement….Where u guys coming from ‘wont/cant fill a staduim??? I dont understand….He does in the UK they sell out stadiums and arenas all over, tickets are like goldust, we are soooo lucky to obtain one. The US may has lost some faith in Axl but the good ole UK certainly has not. Yes Axl is slightly ‘off the wall’ and ‘unpredictable’….he’s a fucking rock star….wot do you expect. That is what Axl is..
Love you Axl, see you back in the UK..

Axl has won | 3/6/2009, 8:00 am EST

IS THERE A STADIUM THAT CAN CONTAIN THE ENVY OF WHO HATE AXL? NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
AXL YOU ARE GREAT, ME AND MY FRIENDS CAN’T WAIT TO GO TO STADIUM TO SEE YOU AND THE NEW GUYS!! CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE AWESOME ALBUM! WE LOVE THE GREATEST,WE LOVE YOU AXL!!!

fred | 3/6/2009, 9:17 am EST

Axl rose back in the ring…
Fucking great…
Welcome back guns n roses!!!

OldGNR Fan | 3/6/2009, 9:25 am EST

How about a tour where they only play Chinese Democracy songs? That way it can estabilished once and for all that Axl N’ Roses is indeed Guns N’Roses.

I for once wouldn’t go to see them if they played CD live…could care less for that. Point is, GNR were the band that Slash, Duff Izzy and Steven were in, not the new incarnation with guy who wears bucket over his head

Axl has won | 3/6/2009, 10:08 am EST

And who knows what Axl will make to play? It’s always a surprise what Axl do. We want to hear and to sing all the Chinese Democracy songs because are too much beautiful and powerful and then to return home without voice!!!And perhaps they will play something of the new material, something of Appetite and Illusions..who know?? We just know WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE GOD OF ROCK AXL ROSE!!!!!

Leonardo | 3/6/2009, 10:34 am EST

Ok, so far I’ve listed all bog acts new records, so here it goes:

1. GN’R – Chinese Democracy
2 . Bruce Springsteen – Working on a Dream
3. U2 – No Line on the Horizon
4. Metallica – Deat Magnetic
5. ACDC – Black Ice

GN’R made the best record of all five…

Welcome back to the jungle Mr. Rose…we missed you

Bruno | 3/6/2009, 10:35 am EST

If Kiss can fill stadiums…so can GN’R

Nik | 3/6/2009, 11:47 am EST

Hell ya bruno! cant wait for the tour!

Herb | 3/6/2009, 11:55 am EST

I understand there is a rumor that GnR will do a Stadium tour with Van Halen. If ticket prices are reasonable, I won’t feel ripped off when Van Halen does a full set and Axl decides not to show up.

Will | 3/6/2009, 12:58 pm EST

Van Halen owns Gun’s N Roses and always have.

I hope the rumour of them touring together is false.

Just give me Eddie!

Axl the Best | 3/6/2009, 1:02 pm EST

I prefer a tour with only GN’R, anyway..I can’t wait!!! I love you Axl,thanks for the great album,I listen to it every day!!!

JJ | 3/6/2009, 2:22 pm EST

GNR/VH tour is a done deal.

Expect an official annoucement next week.

The tour will hit major market ampitheaters and is set up to play multiple nights in some areas.

jc | 3/6/2009, 3:09 pm EST

any chance velvet revolver opens for them….

haha

AzulTool | 3/6/2009, 3:14 pm EST

NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR 90′S ELECTRONICA CRAP ALBUM, AXL! WAKE ME WHEN YOU GET THE ORIGINAL CREW BACK TOGETHER!

S.N.A.F.U. | 3/6/2009, 3:35 pm EST

GnR on tour with VH? Gimme a break… besides doesn’t Wolfie have some summer schooling to do??? ;)

Nick | 3/6/2009, 4:15 pm EST

Guns are touring with VH?! Oh, this is gonna be incredible!!

sirloin | 3/6/2009, 6:07 pm EST

Poor blighted souls who cannot accept the new GnR! This is Guns N Roses! It says so right on the label.
You gotta be tough to stay in this band and Duff and Slash just couldn’t handle it. Neither could Izzy. Sorum doesn’t even count. He wasn’t on Appetite.
Still no VR singer? Without Weiland or Axl those guys can’t get anything together.

george | 3/6/2009, 6:40 pm EST

i can bet that if guns and roses gives a show near your cities you will be singing right there so shut up and rock and rolll yeahhh

Mrs.Rose | 3/6/2009, 7:20 pm EST

I can’t wait!!!I adore you Axl and Chinese Democracy is awesome!!!!

stephen | 3/6/2009, 8:46 pm EST

I am pleasantly suprised how great Chinese Democracy is,can’t wait to here the songs live,Better,Street of Dreams,IRS,This I Love, and Prostitute, are very standout tracks, and I hope to see Robin Finck in the lineup.

Mitch | 3/6/2009, 8:54 pm EST

Nobody cares…I saw the REAL G’N R back in ‘87 here in Los Angeles. That’s when they were a band. I don’t wanna hear anything about a tour or whatever, there’s bound to be some drama either at the start of it or a few dates in…and it’s terminated. More power to Axel if he can pull it off, but I’d like to see the original line up back together.

Tom | 3/6/2009, 10:11 pm EST

Guns N’ Roses original lineup isn’t getting back together because of Slash. Axl has repeatedly said he would love to play with Izzy again and even Duff. Steven’s problems are well documented. Which, leaves Slash.

bishorn | 3/6/2009, 11:37 pm EST

Fuck Sorum. Get Zak Starkey on drums or Jason Bonham.

26life | 3/7/2009, 12:11 am EST

the reunion of old guns never gonna happen and new guns should go on tour to prove what they capable of..

Don in NY | 3/7/2009, 4:52 am EST

If the tour with VH does happen, I hope they switch night by night who closes the show. Both these bands are too legendary to have one “open” every night.

Could be crazy. Axl and Diamond Dave & Eddie rocking the same stage? NOT BAD!!!

crazy canuck | 3/7/2009, 5:36 am EST

..I realize history is full of them, but I can;t think of one band that pissed so much away by being so self centered….G&R, RIP!!!!

Maria Belgrade | 3/7/2009, 11:10 am EST

I can’t wait!I m looking forward to a great tour.
oh and for all the doubters you seem to know such a lot about a band and an album that you don`t like it`s funny if it was a band i didn`t like i wouldn`t waste my time commenting!and you will come on concert!FUCKERS!i can bet that if guns and roses gives a show near your cities you will be singing right there so shut up.
This tour is going to bomb!!!
Axl,Please make it happen!Come to Serbia or don’t,i will go enywhere.

guy howard brown | 3/7/2009, 11:32 am EST

This should be a great tour. But for some reason american audiences are harder to impress than anyone else.Im not saying were better than or have greater taste in music what I am saying is axel better not fuck this up and keep a level head and show up and perform to the best of his ability.Because I know that dave and eddie will but axl is a loose cannon and a gamble. If he pulls it off and shows up and sings wonderful!!! if he doesn`t he`s finished in america plain and simple.

newgnr-vs-vr | 3/7/2009, 1:05 pm EST

i want to see them play more new songs like

shackler’s revenge
catcher in the rye
scraped
this i love
prostitute

im more excited to see more old songs get brought back from the dead like

move to the city
bad obsession
civil war
pretty tied up
estranged

should be an awsome tour!

yoyoma | 3/7/2009, 1:09 pm EST

maybe he wants the new crew to experience US stadiums like the old guys did back in the 91-93 tour.

Sheckler | 3/7/2009, 3:27 pm EST

Cool if Axl will sing ‘It tastes good, don’t it’ too!!

Red | 3/7/2009, 4:09 pm EST

No Slash=Don’t Care.

I love you Axl | 3/7/2009, 4:25 pm EST

‘It tastes good, and you know it’..YEAH,cool!!! I Can’t wait for you Axl,I adore your voice and your music!

Adam | 3/7/2009, 5:35 pm EST

Van Halen and Guns N Roses r u kidding!!!!! That would be the s**t. Seen Van Halen in April….they rocked. I love Chinese Democracy, hope this tour happen. I live in Saint Louis…come back again bro!

go77 | 3/7/2009, 7:00 pm EST

Why did he keep the Gn’R name?
Should have changed the name after 14 years of inactivity. Would have been better received.

C’mon guys, I graduate in June and Eddie is getting married in June. And Dave is climbing a mountain somewhere. No touring till July for us. Besides Axl hasn’t opened for anyone since 1987, and I wasn’t even born then!

TexasKingpin | 3/8/2009, 3:26 am EST

CAN WE PLEASE KEEP AXL OUT OF THE NEWS FOR AT LEAST ONE MONTH. Is he really that much of a money maker for RS?

mynameisgagaga | 3/8/2009, 7:13 am EST

new gnr IS gnr! PERIOD! im glad they r doing this. hope these shows, the better vid, few more singles, a few more vids, b sides, the new version with the new artwork and the rock band game help with the sales.

Matt 76 | 3/8/2009, 9:33 am EST

Saw em in ‘89′ when I was 13! GNR and Whitesnake! Best concert ever, or so I thought because I was 13.

Slash1994 | 3/8/2009, 10:08 am EST

New GNR is not GNR!!!don’t you see that you have to have ALL the former members to be the same band!!GNR wasn’t GNR in 1992 coz Steven and Izzy were the principal formers, even if Slash and Duff were in Guns it wasn’t Guns,Guns is’nt Slash and Axl Rose,GNR is Axl,Slash,Duff,Izzy and Steven!Axl Rose ISN’T GUNS N’ ROSES,he only has the name, nothing else

maria | 3/8/2009, 12:11 pm EST

New GN’R are great!!! I can’t wait for the 2009 Chinese Democracy tour! Please Axl come in Italy, the new songs are amazing..as your voice!! I love you forever

1992 | 3/8/2009, 1:24 pm EST

this feels like 1992 all over again.

Anonymous | 3/8/2009, 2:56 pm EST

But wouldn’t you then have to say that GNR would have to have Tracii Guns as well, considering that he was a formative member?

respectfulboy111 | 3/8/2009, 5:55 pm EST

I am glad to see Axl has moved on rather than staying in the past he put up a helluva ruckuss but at least he realises that whining isnt getting him anywhere GnR are GnR even without Slash who is honestly popular only because of GH3

Leonardo | 3/8/2009, 7:55 pm EST

Funny how some people’s minds works….

David Coverdale has changed every single member of Whitesnake a dozen times and I’ve never see any fan or critic complaining abiut it and saying that he should not call it Whitesnake anymore…

And you know what, just like GN’R, Whitesnake still kicks ass….

You can’t take away the singer from the band: GN’R is Axl Rose, Whitesnake is Coverdale…

GNR..(69) | 3/8/2009, 10:18 pm EST

YEA…. TA DE LUJO EL NUEVO CD DE ESTE SUPER GRUPAZO DE ROCK……..SOY SUPER FAN DE ELLOS.

BUENO ES TODO POR AHORA SOLO PASABA A DJAR COMENTARIO….VISITEN…CGO69. ..METROFLOG CLARO.

KLiff | 3/9/2009, 7:09 am EST

Don’t need ALL the original members but at least a few. It’s The AXL ROSE Project. Call it what it is and maybe more people would take it serious.

Croatia | 3/9/2009, 8:10 am EST

SWEET !!!

I wanna be there too

rogan | 3/9/2009, 9:41 am EST

whitesnake, good one, Captain Irrelevent.

tim | 3/9/2009, 10:07 am EST

I cant wait to see them. Im hoping for a Yankee stadium show or maybe a giant stadium show

Mb | 3/9/2009, 2:03 pm EST

For the person who listed the best albums from classic artists GnR made the worst album out of all of them. I cant believe people actually like Chinese Dem. Its a low budget NIN wannabe album! Wait im sorry I dont want to disrespect NIN. It sooooo bad and I love GnR so I tried to like it. Its really bad. I think people are just in denial or brain washed or something.

TheVM | 3/9/2009, 4:10 pm EST

The GnR stadium tour is going to be awesome!!! I can’t wait to see 20,000 screaming fans “crammed” into venues that hold 50,000 or more!!!

Living in the past is fun, aye Axel?

Anonymous | 3/9/2009, 4:53 pm EST

If this is more than just a rumor, it means that Axl finally went and got some brains and is going to do something productive with his life. I don’t understand this stupid Slash vs. Axl feud and honestly don’t know if there is even a point to it; they just need to shut their mouths and make some music. Who cares if they don’t like each other; if they really cared about their fans, they’d do it because it’s what their fans want. Either way, I think GNR’ would be a great show to see!

phillip gregory | 3/9/2009, 7:56 pm EST

I hate to burst peoples dreams hear but an original Guns N Roses lineup is NEVER going to happen. Get that through your heads and stop living in the past. All original band members have moved on and are enjoying new avenues. Guns N Roses will live on through memories and that is it. Get over it.

Kyle J | 3/9/2009, 9:16 pm EST

The only reason i have any amount of respect for Axl Rose is because he hasn’t done the metallica thing and try to make a record that they’ve made before a million times to please their simpleton fans, Axl still does what he wants. The tour isn’t meant for you the GnR fans who want to see the hits played again with he original line up. Axl just wants the spotlight and the attention he gets from touring.

Matt C | 3/9/2009, 10:01 pm EST

I don’t understand why Van Halen would want to tour with GNR. VH sold out just about every show their last tour. They certainly don’t need assistance selling tickets. Could this GNR lineup sell out arenas alone? They would need VH more than VH would need them.

CR1ZZ | 3/10/2009, 3:49 am EST

I’m a 14-year-old in New Zealand and me and at least 300 teenagers at my school are desperately holding out for the original lineup. We can handle without slash but duff and izzy really added to the look of guns. Slash would be cool or at least someone that looks like him. Lol. I honestly can’t see why a heartfelt apology can’t mend them, it worked for Eddie (Van Halen) and David (Lee Roth). The set list also needs to be perfect. Open with ‘Welcome to the jungle’ and finish with ‘November rain’. Everything in between is fine.

PEOPLE THE LIFE CANNOT TURN AROUND THE MONEY! A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE THINKS ABOUT MONEY AS THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS OF THE LIFE, I HOPE THIS PEOPLE IN THEIR LIFE DON’T MAKE THEIR CHOICES FOR THE MONEY. tom | 3/10/2009, 9:06 pm EST

Best idea would be a GNR double headlining tour if they expect to fill stadiums these days.

A monsters of rock kind of tour would be sick..

VH? Aerosmith? GNR?

that would pack every stadium.

by da way | 3/12/2009, 3:28 pm EST

this is indeed awsome news. if they do it with vh itll make slash soooo pissed. vh is one of his fav bands and vr tried to play with them back in 06 but they were still broken up and now vr is done and axl is def not letting slash back in gnr!

by da way, i heard street of dreams was released as the newest single with a demo as its b side. can anyone tell me if this is true?

GUITARZOMBIE2012 | 3/14/2009, 3:10 pm EST

I hope that all the needed elements for this tour to happen will “fall into place”. It has been way too long since Axl has put on a series of shows. But this man has tons of talent, and I think he can still put on a damned good Rock show. So bring it!

I love you Axl | 3/14/2009, 5:51 pm EST

There aren’t official dates, but the tour will start this year in North America in the end of summer or before this Christmas, and there has been no contact between Axl and Van Halen, the world tour isn’t sure for this year, Gn’R are working for other stuff at the moment..however I CAN’T WAIT!! AXL & GN’R THANKS FOR THE GREAT ALBUM!!!

lolies | 3/15/2009, 9:49 am EST

an anyone confirm the “street of dreams” single? what about the “better” video? or the rock band game? or the new artwork? or the tour with van halen? what about metallica?

if gnr have so much in store they should get going with it before the record falls off the charts.

Axlfan | 3/16/2009, 2:23 pm EST

Axl is God & Chinese Democracy = The Bible

steve | 3/18/2009, 8:31 am EST

oh my god
silkworms

jackie chan

daddy can the devil do mommy and me?

have all been confirmed for the next record. based on the hints axl gave in 2006, itll have 18 songs(but that couldve all changed now).lets not forget old gnr held onto a lot of songs back in the old days

crash diet
it tastes good dont it
heartbreak hotel
sentimental movie
goodnight tonight
just another sunday
bring it back home
jumping jack flash
aint going down
cornshucker

just to name a few. if van halen r really doing this, i hope axl gives them a guest slot on the next record. he might save it for another album. lets not forget

you could be mine
perfect crime
back off bitch
don’t cry
november rain
knocking on heavens door
live and let die
whole lotta rosie
shadow of your love
dead horse
bad obsession

were all written before “appetite”

dontdoanything | 3/19/2009, 3:08 pm EST

well, we can forget about a tour now. or any other kind of promotion. the album managed to stay on the charts for 15weeks, sell 565,000 copies and went platinum, but it’s off now. dont do anything axl, its too late. just stay home and rot to death. you’ve failed to prove worthy of earning the world’s respect. you’ll probably never realize that the world isnt going to wait on you anymore.

sad….

djashbarules | 3/22/2009, 9:19 am EST

k, who thinks dj ashba will make gnr rock even harder now?

No One | 3/24/2009, 11:26 am EST

“We can handle without slash but duff and izzy really added to the look of guns.” Are you kidding me? The two most famous, well-known members of the original band were Axl and Slash. Yeah, Izzy and Duff added a lot to the band, but not even half as much as Slash did. The original band wouldn’t even have to get back together in order to make people happy, Axl would just need to get over his issues and go on tour with Slash and the rest of the band he has now. Slash is a rock icon, people would go crazy over him in concert with Axl again. I know I would.

Welcome DJ Ashba!! You’re very talented and very beautiful!
Can’t wait for a tour and the videos..Thanks Axl and Gn’R for the great album!!! I can’t stop to listen to it!!!!!

OLDGNRISGNR | 3/29/2009, 1:57 am EST

I am sorry but you cant call this band GNR it isnt its an Axl solo project!
When you replace all the classic lineup and change your music style its a different band you idiots!
And Axl wont sell arenas out unless he plays the old classics.

Lxa | 4/7/2009, 8:56 pm EST

FFS, Axl thinks we’re all idiots!, how many times has he changed the lineup and still calls it guns n roses, and then he comes with the story that he’s not to blame from braking of the band, and this and that, and the saddest of all is that there’s some idiots out there who believe in him… the guy recorded a cd that took him 15 years and still hasn’t achieved anything… Axl is a Used-up, Has-been, he should just quit!

Rob_Les_Paul | 4/11/2009, 4:01 pm EST

It’s a sad truth that Axl’s band (come on it’s not GnR) As much as axl might sing the old songs, a band is made up by the people not by the binds of an old song. Slash, Duff, Izzy/Gilby (mostly Izzy) and Steven Adler made the band, with axl singing was incredible but Axl seriously make a new band with a new name just like slash did, you’ll never get anywhere dragging the good name of GnR through this crap. I don’t mind chinese demorcracy but… come on i went to see guns n roses but come on it took 3 guitarist to make slash’s solo in sweet child o mine and paradise city, and buckethead well… he did his own thing… but Axl needs to stop being such a fuck and talk to slash… slash didn’t really do anything wrong…

bettervideo | 4/14/2009, 3:45 pm EST

i think axl is saving the better video for the remixed version of the album. i don’t know when that’s coming out but based on brain’s comments it should be soon.

Hey Dickheads, i know the sound guy. I will meet Axl on this tour. Go fuck yourselves.

Gez Ed | 6/8/2009, 6:02 pm EST

Good music is good music no matter who the players are. Chinese Democracy kicks ass, of course the sound of Guns has changed slightly since their last studio album! But thats because we’re not in the early 90s anymore! And to all those apposed!?!? Well!!!

paolo | 6/12/2009, 5:29 pm EST

axle’s being a bitch!
too damn lazy to tour or do anything!

but on the plus side, GNR Rules!!!!!

From Brazil | 6/16/2009, 4:34 pm EST

If Axl can´t fill a stadium, who could, my sister?

Anonymous | 6/17/2009, 12:24 pm EST

The old lineup, the old lineup, that’s all I hear. Listen up people there is not one Buckethead guitar solo on this album that Slash could even play correctly. The old lineup could not perform the music on “Chinese Democracy” it’s really that simple. The beautiful layered melodies, the incredible arrangements, the phenominal musicianship. The old lineup although wrote some great raunch & roll songs were nothing more than a glorified AC-DC and every decent musician knows it. I truely feel sorry for the closed minded idiots that can’t just put this record on and listen to it without expectation. Chinese Democracy is one of the greatest pieces of music ever created and not just in the Rock genre.

I couldn’t agree more > S. Kraus

Gez Ed | 6/18/2009, 10:58 am EST

Thats damn right!! Chinese Democracy IS one of the greatest albums Ive ever listened to! All those opposed only care about image!! In the world of the blind who gives a shit about image!! Music should be a sound medium!! Not an image medium!!!
