No Doubt’s Sweet Deal: Buy a Concert Ticket, Get Their Entire Catalog

Just in case you needed a little extra incentive to buy tickets for No Doubt’s upcoming reunion tour, the band has announced a special deal: they’re giving away a free digital download of their entire catalog, from 1992’s No Doubt to 2003’s greatest hits comp The Singles, to each person who purchases a full-priced ticket. “Since the band is heading back to the road, we wanted to find a cool way to get people listening to our music and stoke them with a great deal at the same time,” guitarist Tom Dumont said in a statement. “With this download it’s easy for fans to get psyched up to hear our music live once again and that rocks.”

Included in the download is the band’s cover of Adam & The Ants’ “Stand and Deliver,” the band’s first post-reunion recording that’ll make its debut when the band appears on the May 11th episode of Gossip Girl.

So why offer such an incredible deal? Maybe No Doubt are being cautious with the recession expected to cripple the summer touring season or maybe they’re rewarding their fans for their patience. Either way, the digital download is a pretty awesome and generous move on the part of Gwen Stefani and crew. There is a small catch, however: The digital download only comes with the purchase of a full-priced, $42.50 ticket and not lower-tiered or lawn tickets.

The band launch their reunion tour with a May 2nd show at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, before heading north on the Garden State Parkway for their headlining slot at the Bamboozle Festival. From there, the band flies back west before beginning the bulk of their tour in Las Vegas on May 16th. Check out all the tour dates here, and for the full contents of the digital download being offered with tix, check below:

great idea. ive thought that maybe other bands could do something similar, like if you buy a ticket you will get a soundboard copy of the show that you attend for free. or something like that.

wow they must be desperate now to get people to like their music again. shows just how out of touch they are these days, nine inch nails have been giving their music away for free for a couple of years now, in fact a lot of bands should take a note from trent reznor and find other means of releasing music.

i agree and disagree, bands have to give people incentive to spend the bucks nowadays on a little somethin’ extra, but bands still need to make a profit to exist as well, it’s always been a double-edged sword. As far as them being desperate to get people to like their music again, I dunno, whether you like it or not, Gwen Stefani has been one of the more successful women in music in the last few years, so I don’t think they’ll have any trouble getting fans to show up. Even if those fans happen to be people who only know Gwen and don’t know anything about the rest of the band.

I understand the idea of giving people more for their money. That’s always a welcome thing.

But giving all ticket holder downloads to the No Doubt catalog seems strange.

I would imagine that any fan willing to pay $100 to see No Doubt (which is what most of the front seats cost, after Ticketmaster/LiveNation fees), would probably already have most, or all of the No Doubt catalog anyway.

Helium Singers Unite | 3/4/2009, 4:02 pm EST

It’s blatantly obvious that the lead singer for No Doubt is a later version of the Classic Rock vocalist, who drank hydrogen peroxide mixed with a helium tablet, known as OxyChem2, and that drink appears by the drummer with any suspicious 6-octave voice with a compressed arpeggiation style, especially a wild vibrato that sounds more like a sheep’s BAAAAAAAAAA than a voice that’s normally modulating. She’s good in this genre, and very attractive, but definitely has a Cyndy Lauper style voice that takes a tenor soprano at 3-1/2 octaves and elevates it to an animated cartoon voice with up to 6 octaves, ask those who work around animation, the technique and the motive are out there, very old adults who walk in and keep the drink next to the mic while they work to produce all of those trademark cartoon voices. Nothing new, sucking on a helium balloon produces a more uninhibited effect, the lead singer from Heart is the latest casualty, no one will go see them perform because they have lost their voice and are all pre-recordings and gimmicks launched from the keyboard and the mic. This also produces an even swelling effect of the body and was rampant in Opera, therefore the barrel body effect and enlarged heads you see in this genre. Gwen isn’t into pre-recordings and her performances are authentic, she obvious didn’t over do it over 2 or more decades so is basically in good shape physically, and we enjoy a performance like everyone else, although Alternative pretty much condemned it except for a few which will go unnamed. If they are constantly taking sips from a contanier by the drummer and their voice fits the above description, they’re a helium singer. Just make sure you know what you’re paying for and enjoy the show, it’s a good one!

why is Reznor an innovator, but No Doubt desperate? I highly doubt that they are desperate for fans, Gwen’s solo work has done quite well as far as I can tell. It’s my guess they are doing this for the free publicity one gets when doing a thing such as this, why not drive interest in your tour? Although i agree most fans willing to pay top dollar already have the catalog, it never hurts to get a little something extra. itunes may be in on this scheme as well. Oh well i’ve got my tickets!

Please put your snark aside from the fact that what they’re doing is good for the fans. Who has given this to ticket buyers? Recession brings out the good in people.
