Michael Jackson Plotting London Comeback Concerts?

Michael Jackson comeback rumors pop up monthly like clockwork, but the buzz on today’s stories on possible MJ concerts is a bit louder than usual. Billboard is reporting that Jackson may appear at a news conference at London’s O2 Arena on Thursday, March 5th, to announce a run of shows there. Guess those other Jackson rumors about the pop star’s impending death were a little premature.

From what we can gather, the Jacko rumors started when paparazzi put a video camera in front of designer Christian Audigier, who was filmed earlier in the night walking with Jackson. The designer opened up about the fact he had just designed an outfit for Jackson. “He is going on tour in July, so he’s going to be… for three months, maybe more, and it’s going to be a big comeback,” Audigier told Hollywood.tv. “He’s traveling to U.K., London, on Monday. He’s going to be, on Thursday, doing the press conference…” Audigier is one of a small number of people who can draw Jackson out into public; MJ was photographed at the Ed Hardy boss’ 50th birthday party last May.

Jackson hasn’t performed in London since the 2006 World Music Awards, when he sang a few lines of his hit “We Are the World.” If there’s anyone in need of a comeback, and perhaps the millions of dollars that would come with it, it’s Jackson. It’s been a rough few years for Jackson’s accounting department, as the singer saw his ever-growing debt shuffled around, was forced to auction memorabilia and countless other artifacts he’d acquired over the years and finally said goodbye to his Neverland Ranch.

There were also those Jackson 5 reunion rumors that were obviously false and that report that Jackson was close to death, which would be proven false if this run of concerts at the O2 Arena do in fact happen. We’ll find out Thursday.

Reality Check | 3/3/2009, 4:42 pm EST

Why doesn’t someone get real and let this freak know whatever talent he once had is gone and any respect he once had as an artist. No one wants to hear him much less look at “it”.

Jan | 3/3/2009, 5:10 pm EST

What do you say, when all those concerts will be sold out?

Michael Jackson will always be Michael Jackson. No matter what!

Anonymous | 3/3/2009, 5:12 pm EST

You must be basing that comment on your perception of his personality and quirks. But if i’d be wrong, rude and ignorant to call you an ugly freako, then what gives you the right to do the same against anybody else? Ignoring his quirks, this man is musical genius. As much you say you hate him, I can bet diamonds that you have at least of his albums in your collection. By that account, this event will be HUGE, and nothing idiots like you say can/will change that! You got that?!

e | 3/3/2009, 5:44 pm EST

People will be running from all around the world to see him. His fanbase is huge beyond belief – and more committed than anyone else’s. And he is a genius. The biggest obstacle over there is himself – will he be able to fulfil his own qualifications.

Respect, and welcome back – KOP.

Your comment sucks, and only shows what a moron you are. Michael will always be talented way more than the ones out there today. So get over it.

Reality Check you need to get your own and be quiet. Welcome back michael and fuck all the haters! His name is JACKSON J-A-C-K-S-O-N not “jacko”. “Guess those other Jackson rumors about the pop star’s impending death were a little premature.” A little you say? They were VERY premature.

Miguel | 3/3/2009, 7:42 pm EST

combinedsun | 3/4/2009, 1:14 am EST

Been a fan of Micheal since my childhood, am now 31 and still the biggest fan and goodness, wish he could do some concerts here in South Africa, nice stimulus for England

neil | 3/4/2009, 1:27 am EST

He definitely had talent up until the end of the 80’s where he became a sideshow freak. Seriously any person who dangles an infant off a balcony is just idiotic.

John | 3/4/2009, 1:36 am EST

So basically I just pissed my pants from excitement.

I was going to say kudos on a the positive facts based story that left out the predictable negative tabloid journalist type spin that so many “news” sources drench a Michael Jackson story with, but then I notices 3 things.

1) His name is not Jacko, it’s Michael Jackson, that’s a very disrespectful, tabloid journalist thing to say. It’s very distasteful and has no place in a professional article.

2) He wasn’t “forced” to auction off some of his things, he’s doing it because he wants to and this is not the first time he’s done it.

and

3) You implied he was forced to sell his Neverland Ranch, which is not the case. He didn’t sell it, he transfered the title of the ranch to a company he co-owns that he created with a bank. Interesting side note… he owns the controlling interest in that company.

But all in all very good article that focused mostly on the facts instead of the tabloid, middle/high school, childish, non sense and jokes that adults should be beyond. It’s refreshing to see as a reader, as a Michael Jackson fan and as a journalist in training.

That said, regarding his announcement… WOO HOO!!!!! Go Mike! The King of Pop… the world has been waiting.

finalfantasy | 3/4/2009, 3:39 am EST

hey reality check. will you also post again once all his concerts are sold out within minutes? really, i’d love to discuss your comment about “no one wants to hear him much less look at “it”". i guess the fact is that no one wants to hear to you, but everyone wants to hear michael.

michael is always the best in music industry no but can touch himncefloor

NAD | 3/9/2009, 2:45 pm EST

I truly do not believe that is really Michael Jackson. I think it is a look alike, act alike, sing alike-they has been practising and training all these years while Michael has been in hiding. This guy is too well (healthwise) and energized compared to the MIchael years ago and lately—he has looked like the Grim Reaper. You just don’t get your act together that fast, something is not right here. Hope I am wrong but I don’t think so.
