Def Leppard, Poison, Cheap Trick To Tour Together This Summer

Mid-’80s rock radio is going to come alive in the nation’s amphitheatres this summer as Def Leppard, Cheap Trick and Poison join forces for a full summer tour. “We’re going out with three bands, which limits the amount of time we can play to about 90 minutes. When you do your greatest hits and some new material or extra stuff you might throw in, you have got to push and shove and clamp down,” Def Leppard’s Joe Elliot told Billboard.com. To avoid the expected concert industry slump this summer he adds, “We’ve taken the path of least resistance, we’ve put a bill together that we think is attractive.”

The tour has something for all rock fans, from Poison’s hair-metal antics to Cheap Trick’s classic power pop to Def Leppard’s….. well, what exactly was Def Leppard anyway? When Rolling Stone talked with Elliot back in 2006, he was quick to confront the popular belief that the band was “hair-metal” or “heavy metal.” “We may have once accidentally… had one picture taken that let the hair dresser run riot with the hair spray,” Elliot said. “But generally speaking, we were a long-haired band. If we’re hair metal, so are Led Zeppelin. Warrant and Ratt were hair metal, we’re not. We were always better than that. If you came from the L.A. metal strip thing, Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Warrant, whatever. And we get lumped in with that, I don’t get it.” So what genre would Elliott consider the band to be? “We belong in the same kind of category as Van Halen are. It’s just rock.” It’s interesting that a band trying to distance themselves from hair-metal would tour with a band synonymous with Aqua-Net, but desperate economic times call for desperate measures.

In case that tour doesn’t fill your rock needs, a trio of power ballad-heavy bands are also teaming up for the Can’t Stop Rockin’ Tour: REO Speedwagon, Styx and .38 Special. Check out the full dates for both megatours:

Oh my friggin’ God… yes

cory | 2/26/2009, 1:20 pm EST

It’s a shame to see a band as smart as Cheap Trick on tour with a band as dumb as Poison.

Anonymous | 2/26/2009, 2:41 pm EST

totally agree on CT point. Doesn’t feel like right tour for them. Still, probably makes them more dough than independent tour.

Ruthie | 2/26/2009, 2:47 pm EST

Cheap Trick should never be an opening act. I hope they get enough playing time. Def Leppard’s cool too, but I’m not crazy about Poison. I guess we’ll see.

Simple Math | 2/26/2009, 3:19 pm EST

Cheap Trick=RnR Hall of Fame

Josh | 2/26/2009, 4:30 pm EST

its a hair metal tour, cheap trick should go on tour with LFO

racheal | 2/26/2009, 4:40 pm EST

give me a break! i think it will be a kick a** show.i live in washington and don’t get to see them..and besides they’ve been around long enough to know who they are playing with……………..

Ice Man | 2/26/2009, 5:22 pm EST

Cheap Trick should not be on tour with either of these other two bands. At the least, they should be the headliners.

Tiffany Westy | 2/26/2009, 5:43 pm EST

I Know POISON with Def Lepp—yuck!!!
It was bad enough Lorelei Shellist, Clark’s fiance did a movie with Brett Michaels now these guys are teaming up with him too? Jeez…

after wondering who I would pay to see this summer, knowing I could only pick one or the other, they go and tour together! I’m excited..saves me some dough and I can still see live rock this summer. Cheers!

kimberly | 2/26/2009, 8:06 pm EST

im so excited! in my opinion there will ever be a band quite like def leppard they have a bit of everything ive been attracted to there music for years they are forever be my favorite band …i would still buy tickets if they were touring with a rock but the guests will be great… great fan of cheap trick and posion is great as well cant wait…rock on guys

Dude Man | 2/26/2009, 8:07 pm EST

Def Leppard are an awesome band and not hair-metal, but definately, like Van Halen, a pop-metal band. Cheap Trick are also a fantastic rock band, but Poison come on what are those preoperation trannies doing on tour with those great bands. Regardless this should be a great tour. And good to hear about Styx, gald to see they are still out there performing their songs.

Alicat | 2/26/2009, 9:01 pm EST

Instruments, notes, beats, rythym, music, and lyrics of course are a good core of components of music. All three bands incorporate them into their own music and style. Musicians, and bands present diffent tastes, direction, and opinions. These three bands were erected before what we have to select from today. That is all us comment posters own are opinions. Some liked some not. We all have opinions and that is all that they are. Just as some music, and just like some concerts organized for our enjoyment. I’m confident we will be blown away, surprised and blasted in our seats. Just like they always have. “…i got an itchy finger following me…”…in way too deep over you…”…instead of makin love we both made our separate ways…”. Please me and tease me with everyone else at the same time. This is live entertainment. I hope to make this.

Alicat's Neice | 2/26/2009, 9:04 pm EST

Love Bites thats all I know. Done Deal. I want to go.

Greg | 2/26/2009, 9:41 pm EST

Wow these should be good concerts and worth going too. I look forward to them comeing to my city! ROCK OF AGES

CR1ZZ | 2/26/2009, 9:57 pm EST

Bring this tour to oz and new zealand. Def Leppard was awesome enough by themselves in the small INDOOR show I saw them at. This show would fucking put the show I saw to shame if it was outdoors, (which it would be). Bret Michaels is a douche but poison as a band are awesome. Never seen cheap trick but am dieing to. Someone please show this message to the band. There are hundreds of thousands of rock deprived people dow here.

CR1ZZ | 2/26/2009, 9:58 pm EST

I meant bands and down here. Not dow here.

FootBall | 2/26/2009, 10:16 pm EST

Def leppard should tour with Manrase…love the new stuff!

Mike Hawk | 2/26/2009, 10:22 pm EST

Poison will ALWAYS headline. They’ve sold more albums than the other bands put together, and over the past six years, they’ve made a larger attendance draw than any of the others.

They do a good show. I’ve seen them over the last two years, and it’s been worth it.

nik | 2/26/2009, 10:24 pm EST

No minnesota?!?! brett micheals lied to my face at his tour when he came to minnesota, he said they were comin to MN!!! ah

Force10 | 2/26/2009, 10:25 pm EST

holy crap why wont they come to Austin Texas its always dallas and houston but never Austin

BPR | 2/27/2009, 12:08 am EST

I think CT is down to about a one hour show most concerts. Whatever the deal they are professionals and they play for what they get. It’s all recycled. Last summer they went out with Heart and Journey. At least CT, once upon a time my favorite band, is still a going concern with a new album in the works. I saw them in 2007 and it rocked pretty well but they could do more different tunes and nuggets.

Scott | 2/27/2009, 12:53 am EST

It seems Poison can ruin any tour. Years ago I saw Whitesnake and Poison was the headline act. When Whitesnake was done, I left. So not a bad concert since I did not see Poison. Come on Mr. Zander, I know a triple bill will help pack the seats but why not tour with Styx and 38 Special?

DS24 | 2/27/2009, 7:30 am EST

This tour is going to rock. Def Leppard and Cheap Trick on one bill is a dream concert. I’ll sit through Poison just to hear my two fave bands. Just wish CT were getting more time then Poison because I think they are the more deserving.

John | 2/27/2009, 7:44 am EST

CT can only play 45-60 minutes at once, allegedly because Bun E had a medical issue that limited his playing time. Although that may be resolved, as I see he has a new band he formed…”Tinted Windows” with Taylor Hansen (of the brothers), James Iha from smashing pumpkins and lead guy from Fountain of Wayne Adam Schlesinger

rockballs | 2/27/2009, 9:19 am EST

first of all: def leppard died when steve clark died.
leppard have no balls and severely SUCK!
last great album was hysteria!
pussin’ has always blowed chunks with their ripped off riffs like “talk dirty” explicitly ripped off from the new york dolls “personality crisis” and unskinny bop rippin’ skynyrds “i know a little” riff.
their lyrical content is of the highest moronic substance and they are flat out DUMB>
cheap trick was once a witty original rockin’ band but they stopped makin’ great albums after 1978 though they still rock hard live.
so go see trick in a club and dump this package of POOP!

James | 2/27/2009, 10:19 am EST

I dont know if Def Leopard is a hair band or not, but I do know they suck. Why would a quality band like Cheap Trick tour with two bands that are laughable at best?

josie | 2/27/2009, 10:19 am EST

def leppard and cheap trick – yes!
poison – no.

John | 2/27/2009, 10:28 am EST

I second the motion about Cheap Trick on the same bill with Poison…….Heck, I still can’t figure out why Cheap Trick is not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame yet? I seen them last summer and they rock. This tour no matter what will be a big hit this summer.

Holland, MASS | 2/27/2009, 11:48 am EST

I can’t wait to see this concert. It sucks that they have to play the Mass an Conn shows on a Tuesday!! Can’t wait to see Def Lep!!!

Bill | 2/27/2009, 12:05 pm EST

Where does Joe Elliot get off saying that Leppard is better than some of the great hair bands? Apparently not good enough to go out on tour with Poison. Hair metal for the win and yeah throw Leppard in there.

dan | 2/27/2009, 12:30 pm EST

Can you spell has been!

Mr.Scary | 2/27/2009, 12:42 pm EST

I don’t like Joe Elliots comments on the hair band thing..I like Def Leppard but,I know much more talented hair bands then Leppard,Dokken,Lynch Mob,TNT,Whitelion,Europe,Motle y Crue,Ratt,Kiss,Tesla,Black N’Blue and many more.So Mr.Elliot don’t knock the hair bands cause thats where most of the talent came from in the last 30 years!!!!

A-K | 2/27/2009, 12:42 pm EST

Are you people kidding? I can’t believe so many people are on Cheap Trick’s nuts. I actually wish they were headlining so I could leave after Def Leppard and Poison.

Thundercrotch | 2/27/2009, 12:43 pm EST

Cheap Trick—>Awesome

Def Leppard—>Nostalgic, pretty good

Poison—>I’d rather take some than sit through their set.

Jim | 2/27/2009, 1:03 pm EST

Cheap Trick still rock!

Bonnie | 2/27/2009, 2:19 pm EST

OH BUT YES! “POISION ROCKS” DEF LEP OK AND CHEAP TRICK THERE MOMMIES ALRIGHT AND DADDIES ALRIGHT BUT THE BAND IS A LITTLE WEIRD!

paige | 2/27/2009, 2:32 pm EST

Cheap trick is lucky to be touring with two such great bands as Def Leppard and POISON,its gonna be an awesome PITTSBURG show, Bret Micheals is stll hot as ever!!

cc | 2/27/2009, 2:44 pm EST

poison rocks

Jungleland2 | 2/27/2009, 3:36 pm EST

I think time has been very good to these bands. None were critics darlings, they were “Pop” bands in the BEST sense of the word. I’ve seen all three in the last few years and they know how to ENTERTAIN. (this is not deep soul searching music, this is good-time mindless music, again in a GOOD way) I think the power pop crowd is gonna eat this sugary sweet gooey treat of a tour right up

cRAIG | 2/27/2009, 5:14 pm EST

Cheap Trick is clearly the best band on here, and doesn’t really fit at all…

i love old Leppard (High n’Dry/Pyromania/Hysteria,
and Poison’s first record
is pretty good, but this just doesn’t make any sense…

nikki | 2/27/2009, 7:08 pm EST

Def Leppard ROCKS!!!!!

DaveO | 2/27/2009, 7:32 pm EST

DLRules the others OK

Márcio Loiacono | 2/27/2009, 7:56 pm EST

Cheap Trick……good….very good…poderiam via ao Brazil…sou fã nº 1…….

Rock Dawg | 2/27/2009, 7:59 pm EST

How do you some of you tools like Def Leppard and not Poison?? They’re the same thing!! And why is CT “smart” and Poison “dumb”? Nice opinion. You d-bags are probably the same people that bring blankets for the lawn and get upset when people stand up. Stay home losers!!

Anonymous | 2/27/2009, 8:03 pm EST

Why isn’t Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick not going to Minneapolis? 14th largest media market in the USA!

Mike D | 2/27/2009, 8:11 pm EST

This is gonna be fun. Hope I can catch this when it comes around.

Frampton's Peter | 2/27/2009, 9:55 pm EST

If you can’t get a boner to Cheap Trick, then either you’re dead or you’re a member of the single digit IQ club.

Hair Bands/Glam Rock | 2/27/2009, 10:03 pm EST

“The late 70’s & 80’s Bands”
There are “FEW” bands out there now that can even compare to the bands of the 80’s. The 80’s generation of rock had so many great bands of many types of rock, including hard rock, glam rock, classic rock, its all rock music. The “Hair Bands” name came from the generation of 80’s fashion and decadence. They concentrated on playing and loving life unlike most of the bands today. The talent level of musicians has dropped over the years. Def Leppard,Poison,Cheaptrick are a mix of three types of rock music to attract all kinds of fans. These bands all have talent, if you don’t like all three of the bands than don’t go, but don’t ruin it for the people who do want to enjoy a few hours of good music.

Zorin | 2/27/2009, 11:51 pm EST

I remember I saw Poison w/ Cinderella and Winger back in 02 I believe and that was a great show.

Joe Elliot…his vocals are pretty bad, not sure if this would be such a rocking time.

Remember when CC was all about his band, The Step moms? Guy is a serious tool, Brett only keeps his skinny ass around for this tour.

Jfraine | 2/28/2009, 5:50 am EST

Doesent matter who plays when Cheap Trick is in because the arena because they steal the show every time. Thats probably why they always tone them down as the opening act because if they were allowed to play as if they were headliners, then there would be nothing left to build up to.

recsec | 2/28/2009, 6:53 am EST

This is a great lineup!! It will be a fun time at BOTH of these tours! I don’t understand why the haters feel it is their mission to rain on the parade of others. It’s to bad they are such losers to not be able to enjoy some really good music. I haven’t seen REO since 81 at the Astrodome. They rocked the house down that night! Looking forward to seeing them again!

tony montana | 2/28/2009, 9:54 am EST

def leppard SUCK.
when steve clark died their balls and inspiration died plus it hurts also that they can’t get mutt to do a whole album.
they really need him and haven’t put out a worthwhile album since hysteria!
they blow chunks!
POISON ARE WORSE and are a disgrace to anyone who has brains or any type of intellect.
they’re music is derivitive in the most shameful way and lyrically moronic.
they are the musical definition of DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tric k is people would educate themselves and listen to their music pre-1980 would find original, highly influential, witty, adventurous, and accliamed works like self titled album cheap trick that influenced kurt cobain!
cheap trick also are and have always been an established ASS KICKING band live and they will rock the crap outof the stage.
too bad they have to share the stage with poison and the washed up leppard!

P Bonsant | 2/28/2009, 11:28 am EST

With the possible exception of Cheap Trick, Styx is far better than all 5 bands mentioned here at least in terms of versatility.
Tommy Shaw is easily one of the most underrated performers in rock history.
they ought to ease up on the incessant touring though, particularly the casino gigs…
though I guess we all need to pay the bills.

MSANTOS | 2/28/2009, 12:13 pm EST

POISON & DEF LEPP ROCKS!
CHEAP TRICK.. VEERY GOOD! BUT NOT AS POSION & DEF LEPP

MSANTOS | 2/28/2009, 12:14 pm EST

(8)flesh and BlOoD sacrifice! ,yyyyeeeaaaaahhhh!

DefLep Fan22 | 2/28/2009, 2:04 pm EST

All, this will be a perfect mix of musical styles. There is no question that Def Leppard is not a “Hair Band” by definition. They were however part of a very exciting musical explosion in the 80’s driven by the surge of heavier music on mainstream radio, and the onset of MTV. All three of these bands benifited, although Cheap Trick was already well established. Poison is great live, they have a lot of energy, and their fans are like Nascar fans, faithful.. It will be a great show, so stop being so damn opinionated, if you like live music, this trio will be the best show out there for this genre of music. I saw Def Leppard last summer and they were spectacular, 15,000 fans didn’t sit down for the whole show. See you in Kansas City.

Farts On Fire | 2/28/2009, 4:11 pm EST

I remember back when the REO album “You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can’t Tuna Fish” was released. As soon as I got home I stood to attention with my underware around my knees. I painted the ceiling white. Let’s just say that one could smell the shrimp snack from my bedroom all the way through the other part of the house. ;)

One Eyed Snake | 2/28/2009, 4:17 pm EST

Right on Farts my man! Dude, I saw REO Speedwagon at the LA Forum around 1981 or so. Kevin Cronin bent over to pick up some roses from off of the stage.HE LOOKED LIKE THE HOTEST CHICK I HAD EVER SEEN FROM BACK “THERE”. Needless to say, I barely made it to the men’s room when I waxed my hand in the stall. Now THAT felt good. I’m still a virgin at 49 but some day I’ll meet the right girl.

Julie | 2/28/2009, 6:08 pm EST

Poison puts on a FANTASTIC show and I go see them every summer. My husband hates Poison (and all other bands like them), but he actually admits that they perform well live. Atlanta—Aug. 15th—I’m There!!!

naf kcirt paehc | 2/28/2009, 6:54 pm EST

Cheap Trick still have the same 4 original members. I have seen them numerous times since 1978. They NEVER put on a bad show. They are great. If you get a chance check out Robin Zander’s solo album from 1993. It’s fantastic.

guy howard brown | 3/1/2009, 12:13 am EST

all of these bands will and have earned there place n history and r great performers f u git the chance go n see them u wont be dissappointed.

THE ONLY ONE | 3/1/2009, 2:58 pm EST

Cheap trick is by far the best band on this bill!!! But the Loser Music critics dont like them Like the OLD FARTS in the STONES!!!!!

Spongecake | 3/1/2009, 7:39 pm EST

This tour sounds like the worst idea since Greedo shooting first. If Bret Michaels’ performances last summer are any indicator of what this tour is going to be like … wow. Not even the nostalgia is worth going out to see these washups.

arvin gascar | 3/1/2009, 9:53 pm EST

men…i came from the far eastern fuckin poor country philippine but i still love those bands mentioned above..def leppard, and other old rock acts are great unlike the emos and other nonsense music in this new generation although im just 19years old this time…….

arvin gascar | 3/1/2009, 9:57 pm EST

i can play def leppard songs…emos cannot!!!!ew ew..the guitar licks of these bands are very very difficults while takling about music these times…well i can only practice them for less than 5 minutes…soooooo easy

whawhat | 3/2/2009, 3:55 am EST

one of these things are not like the other..and that is Poison. Def Leppard and Cheap Trick have a back catalogue of literally hundreds of great songs..all Poison have is the Talk Dirty riff which they completely straight ripped from Cheap Trick’s She’s Tight

Stink Show | 3/2/2009, 1:33 pm EST

I saw Cheap Trick last summer on their tour with Journey and Heart. Let me tell you Cheap Trick still give me a boner everytime I see them. When Robin Zander walks out on stage? Wiggles his hips? Shakes his hair, that smile. Ummmmmm like I gotta get to the bathroom fast. ooohhhh. Better orgasm then with my wife that’s for sure. Oh and dreams of Bun E Carlos being female from the neck down. OH YEAH! Us straight guys love the band!

Ryan | 3/3/2009, 9:52 am EST

CC “Cotton Candy” Deville is the best, worst guitarist of all time and I can not wait to see this show. I caught poison last summer at Jones Beach and was going to go see them again this summer anyway but seeing Cheap Trick up there to just made my day.

Jenna | 3/3/2009, 12:26 pm EST

WHO’s headlining this? DL or Poison? Ive had enough of Poison and even more than enough of Bret Michaels, that manwhore who lives for ‘reality’ tv rather than trying to figure out how to make good music. Sadly, because of his disrespectful antics on his pathetic show, he lost me as a fan. Got the memories from the 80s but dont need new ones anymore. What a loser.

CT or DL should be headlining for sure. Sounds like CT isnt. Is DL? Ive seen them all, and b/c they are teamed with Poison, will likely miss this tour in the interest of better taste.

Rockin Rick | 3/3/2009, 1:24 pm EST

Looks like DL will be in the area of Cadott Wisconsin’s Rock Fest this year, why not come join us? Looks like DL will be in Milwaukee on the 18th of July. Rock Fest is July 16-19th this year, and DL has an open slot for July 19th. Good way to wrap up the 15th Annual show.

Duke | 3/3/2009, 2:21 pm EST

Def leppard sucks ass, don;t ever compare yourselves to led zeppelin, your truley a 80’s hairband and you suck, it should just be cheap trick

def lepp fan97 | 3/3/2009, 4:38 pm EST

BEST BAND EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JANET | 3/3/2009, 5:30 pm EST

SAW DEF LEPPARD..LOVED THEM, FROM TAMPA..ROBIN ZANDER LIVES DOWN THE WAY FROM US..SO NATURALLY A CHEAP TRICK FAN..CAN’T REALLY SAY A WHOLE LOT OF NICE THINGS ABOUT POISON…SORRY

TARA | 3/4/2009, 1:33 pm EST

GOT MY DEF LEPPARD TICKETS FOR THE AUG 14 CONCERT. I REALLY WISH STYX WAS STILL TOURING WITH THEM INSTEAD OF THAT WHORE BRET MICHAELS, OH WELL..

Chris A | 3/4/2009, 10:36 pm EST

So? With regard to hair metal Def Leppard thinks “We were always better than that” Are you serious?! Better than what?! Being “hair metal” has gotten you everywhere! I’ll tell you what you are…..pathetic! You can’t hold a candle to hair metal bands! Its only fitting you are with poison! Take your bubble gum “rock” elsewhere! You both suck!

rockergirl54 | 3/5/2009, 4:18 am EST

Whoah there Chris A. Mind your P’s and Q’s okay bud. If you don’t care for a group don’t trash them, find a more fitting way like hey they are not my thing or something along those lines. Def Leppard happens to be a fantastic group! They do have beaucoup (alot) fans and killer tunes! I would love to see them in Dallas when they tour. That is closest to me. REO Speedwagon, in OKC. I plan on being there! Rock On!!

giglejeens | 3/5/2009, 9:41 am EST

I don’t understand why people have to knock this show so bad. I think its going to be a great show. I’ve been a Def Leppard fan since 1983, when they won the Friday night video fights for nine weeks in a row on MTV. Wish they were coming to Memphis this year. It’s time for Def Leppard to be inducted in the The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

YaImALeppFan | 3/5/2009, 3:58 pm EST

For all the people talking shi* about Lepp…You’ll all be cryin when they kick your ass from the fuckin stage, wont you?!
Stop the bitchin, if you dont like it..dont go. Youll be missin out on a great show. This tour is going to sell out in most cities of the USA anyway, stupid shits.
*shakes head* I def. just lost IQ points visiting this site.

Chris A | 3/5/2009, 11:02 pm EST

Listen! If everyone wants to get they’re knickers in a twist over my earlier comments than so be it! What burns me is that Def Leppard wants to act as if being “hair metal” is a four letter word! They even go so far as to say “We were always better than that.” Really?! Better?! I say get over yourself! If your not hair metal then why tour with bands that are considered just that? They didnt just simply shrug off the hair metal image they went further and claimed to be “better!” It pisses me off that they want to shun the era that made them what they are today. I can’t believe that I am the only one.

missyn1270 | 3/6/2009, 11:56 pm EST

y’all r just nuts! I’ve seen cheap trick and poison in concert and they both rocked the stage!! I can’t wait to see def leppard!

Sando 20 | 3/7/2009, 5:33 pm EST

All the CT defenders out there are really acting like crotchety old men. If the masses want to pay to see DL, Poison, and CT together, then who cares? If you want to sit in your basement with your CT 8-Tracks, then go for it. Don’t bash the thousands of people who are more than happy to shell out cash to see and enjoy all three of them.

I like all three of these bands. My favorite might not be the same as yours, but that’s the beauty of it. I can’t wait.

Anonymous | 3/8/2009, 11:39 pm EST

What a tragedy that the new Cheap Trick CD is finished and there isn’t a label who have jumped at this opportunity yet! I hate to say it, but Cheap Trick are in the same artistic boat that The Ramones found themselves. They are American legends whose simplistic approach conceals the complexity of their songs, sound and impact. I would love to see JW compel his editors to give Cheap Trick a couple of column inches in RS and better yet, get them nominated for the Hall of Fame. But you can bet that Peaches and Herb and Pat Metheny will get to the HOF before Cheap Trick do.

Get Smart | 3/9/2009, 7:36 pm EST

Wow- most of these comments are from people who actually get it! Maybe I shouldn’t have canceled my subscription to Rolling Stone after all.
Cheap Trick should be the headliner and Def Leppard the opener and Poison should not even be here!
But there is no justice or Cheap Trick would be in the RnR HOF already.
I have seen Trick 9 times- they rock and rule! This will be # 10!

FOO Fan | 3/11/2009, 2:54 pm EST

FYI: Cheap Trick is probably biggest influence on Foo Fighters (David Grohl). Classic rock band that spans numerous decades and genres, and should as others have noted be inducted in the RRHF. Def Leppard really did NOT start out as a hair band, but their look in the mid-80’s was duplicated by the late 80’s hair metal bands. And yes, they didn’t mind the adoration at the time. Def Leppard–early on–was more akin to AC/DC. Later, well, not so much. Poison is just a washed up hair band relying solely on nostalgia. Poison, IMHO, should be dropped from this ticket.

The One Eyed Snake | 3/13/2009, 11:22 am EST

Let me first start off by saying that I AM A STRAIGHT MALE!!! Back in highschools my buddies and I use to take Hustler magazines and cut the heads off of the centerfolds. We then would tape the heads from Cheap Trick from such magazines as Creem, Circus, and Hit Parader. Man, it made for wonderful one handed bath room reading. I still love those guys. Seen them too many times to count. Playing pocket pool and listining to Cheap Trick does life get much better then that? I think not!

Stink Show | 3/13/2009, 7:33 pm EST

Yo One Eyed Snake, Right on man! Back in the day I had a girlfriend named Robin. Let’s just say that when my eyes rolled in the back of my head and I started screaming Robin I was thinking of Zander. The thoughts of Bun E Carlos with a pair of 36 triple D cups? OH YEAH! Rick in a girl scouts uniform? Tom dressed as a clown. See where I’m going with this fellas? I can’t wait for the tour.

Stickey Fingers | 3/14/2009, 2:52 pm EST

Can’t wait for the Atlanta show. Gonna wax my hand now. ;)

Mr Wizzo | 3/14/2009, 7:23 pm EST

I don’t like this kind of talk here. I LOVE IT!! I remember how excited I was the day Cheap Trick’s At Budakon was released during the spring of 1979. I would crank it up with the head phones. I would sit in the bathroom flipping through the booklet. I must have lost 10 cc’s each time I looked at it. I never ever felt guilty either. I always felt very relaxed and in control! Only losers needed girl friends.

Susie | 3/14/2009, 11:38 pm EST

Where do you guys get this stuff anyway? I guess it’s a guy thing huh? Can’t we just talk about the bands and their music? I will say this though. My hubby says that he used to have dreams that the members of Cheap Trick didn’t have boy equipment “down there”.

Lisa A | 3/15/2009, 1:44 am EST

What’s up with this fascination of Cheap Trick as girls? Seems kind of weird to me. On on hand it seems like you guys have too much fre time on your hands. However, by the same token it kind of turns me on. The best of both worlds I suppose. Thinking of someone male from the neck up and female form the neck down. Hmm. Like Donny Osmond from the neck up and Marie Osmond from the neck down? Oh yeah I can see the turn on to those thoughts.

Anonymous | 3/15/2009, 2:01 am EST

“It’s a shame to see a band as smart as Cheap Trick on tour with a band as dumb as Poison.” EXACTLY…you dumbass.Poison is the anchor band so Cheap trick can get paid..you dumbass..And def leppard is the anchor so Poison can get paid..you dumbass.

Poisonval | 3/15/2009, 12:53 pm EST

This will be a good tour, but I wish Poison would come to England, especially as Def Leppard are a British Band. Went all the way to Las Vegas to see Poison last year, it was brilliant. Come on Poison you still have fans here in England.

Mike Male Virgin at 45 | 3/15/2009, 7:27 pm EST

I am diging these posts. Back in high school my friends and I used to fantasize that the members of KISS were female “down there”. Jean, Paulette, Petra, and Grace. Oh yeah get me going down there still. OH yeah!

Pizza Face | 3/15/2009, 10:23 pm EST

I’m a male age 47. I still live with my mom and have never had a romantic relationship with a female. I’m an intellectual who enjoys spinning in circles, collecting lint, and thinking about sewers. I’m going to ask mom for the money for the concert. When they stroke their guitars I pretend it’s me. ;)

Aubrie | 3/16/2009, 3:19 pm EST

My name is Aubrielle. I am 15 and i met Zak Dall last year at the Lakewood amphitheatre in Atlanta. For those of you who dont know he is Bobby Dall’s son, (bassist for poison. I am still dating him and we are doing great! But that is besides the point that this is going to be another great show//TOUR. Zak has informed me that Cheap Trick will play 1st, then Poison, then Def Leppard will headline!!!! Why will they headline idk because it is Poison’s tour. But thats okay i am a huge fan of all of them. SO everybody who goes to this show have a great time. ROCK ON BITCHES!!!!!

Stained blankets | 3/17/2009, 2:26 pm EST

As for me I “came of age” or “became a man” you know the first time I shot the liquid sauce back in 1983 while watching Def Leppard on MTV. WOW that hysteria album wore me out. I “watched” 3 or 4 times a day. I can not tell you how many times I had to grab the windex and clean off the stains from my TV screen. ;) If there is a God they will make a DVD of this tour. I may in my 40’s now but still like to shoot the sauce!

Willie Wanker | 3/17/2009, 7:33 pm EST

These posts are awesome dudes. Oh yeah rock on! As for me? Well, I used to like to listen to Cheap Trick on my bedroom stereo. While listining I would close my eyes and play a little pocket pool. Remember the Dream Police album? Honestly with all of that no need for female companionship. Here I am some 30 odd years later and still feel the same way as back in high school. Go figure. Only losers get married.

Crader Face | 3/18/2009, 12:22 am EST

Here I was thinking that I was alone listining to these bands and enjoying my many one handed activites through the decades. Nothing in life is better then listining to Poison LOUDLY and working my meat puppet in the privacy of my trailer home.

Bent Barbie Doll | 3/18/2009, 3:52 pm EST

As a woman I get so excited reding these posts from these 40 + year old male virgins.I don’t like these stories. I love them! Sometimes I fantasize that I was born a guy. In my mid 40’s still living iwth my parents. No job, no educaion, no skills. “borrowing” money from mom and dad. Still thinking I’m way cool. Great thoughts indeed!

Menopause Mary | 3/18/2009, 7:24 pm EST

My best days are long gone. I’m old and gray. I have been a fan of these bands for so long now. My 35 year old son has an inflatable girlfriend he calls Nikki. Named after Nikki Sixx. My boy keeps his room clean.

Pete | 3/19/2009, 1:16 am EST

Should be a great show. Looking forward to all three of the bands.

Cheap Trick Tribute Band | 3/19/2009, 3:14 pm EST

When I was in high school I was in a cheap trick tribute band we were called small dick. Many of you may recall taht back in 1978 when Cheap Trick were opening for Kiss taht Gene Simmons often wore a t-shirt that said small dick. 6 times just like the cheap trick logo. Once Rick Neilsen from Cheap Trick was een weaaring it. There wa sa pic of Rick weqaring it in creem amgazine. under the npic it sdaid yes Rick we know…… Totally classic

Bob The Burn Out | 3/20/2009, 7:06 pm EST

It should be mandatory that all of the abnd memerbs in each of the three bands wears clown white makeup, dresses and high heels! Like the New York Dolls much much prettier.

Mel | 3/21/2009, 3:30 pm EST

Why don’t you come to Minnesota?

AUBRIE AGAIN | 3/21/2009, 8:09 pm EST

So as we speak i am just sitting around my house blasting Arena Rock (hair band/// glam rock channel)on all 7 of my t.v’s… my neighbors must hate it but yeah they can just kiss my hair band loving ass. So i havent talked to Zak in a couple of days, were still dating, he still calls but you have to be the one in charge, and keep them guessing ladys!!!! but yes, i LOVE his guts! !So if you want to hear a great fucking band check out Asphalt Valentine!!!! They have been signed by Chavis Records. Many of you may realize that Chavis Records is yes, the same record label that BULLET BOYS is on! so check them out they will blow you away! Oh and dont forget to e-mail me if you have any questions about Poison, or Asphalt Valentine!!!!! love you all! ROCK ON BITCHESS

God Friendly Gary | 3/22/2009, 9:59 pm EST

About the only thing that I get a boner about nowadays is JESUS. Yes and sometimes Cheap Trick too. ;)

Stinky Steve | 3/23/2009, 7:20 pm EST

I hate Poison. However, if they wear spandax and shake their butts? I might be willing to “pull” along with them. OOOOHHHH

Cheap Wank | 3/24/2009, 10:55 am EST

Imagine this my “friends”. Each member of Cheap Trick. Wearing a wig, full make up, lip stick, mini skirt, fish net stockings, garders, stilito high heels, and tease me perfume. Man, I’m all over that.

Hershey Squirts | 3/24/2009, 6:32 pm EST

I forgot to wear my adult diaper the other day. It looked like a bunch of brown fire works went off in my white pants. Stink city too! Looking forward to Def Leppard!

5TH Beatle | 3/24/2009, 7:26 pm EST

Cheap Trick says…good night!

Both Ends Burning | 3/26/2009, 8:15 pm EST

Yes to answer your question I AM BLONDE AT BOTH ENDS! I’m a 45 year old dude but have been told that I look like a chick from behind.

Frampton's Peter | 3/26/2009, 11:53 pm EST

My name is Peter. Yeah like Frampton. When he did the voice box. I ALWAYS imagined that he was using my ” penile voice box”. Remember his song “I’m In You”. i’m in you yeah YOU’RE IN ME yeah. I wish that I had fathered his children. Looking forward to the tour.

The Pull Jesus | 3/28/2009, 2:35 pm EST

You idiots need JESUS in your lives. Now get me a roll of toilet paper. I’m gonna wax my hand to the Poison CD.

pulling it for jesus | 3/28/2009, 7:41 pm EST

Mixing jesus with self stimulation isn’t good. No it is wonderful. As long as I can pull it. I’ll have a great life. ;)

The middle aged teenager | 3/29/2009, 2:05 am EST

I am a 50 year old male. I have NEVER had a romantic relationship in my life. I was far too lazy to go to college or develop any worthwhile skills in life. I still live with my mom and am very happy with myself. I have been in the same bedroom since I was 5 years old. Life isn’t good. It is great!!

Peter Puke Osmond | 3/29/2009, 11:44 am EST

I’ve got a towell that has so much dried “Starch” it stands up by itself. I call my towell (partner) Marie. After Marie Osmond. Marie why do you stink so badly?

Maynard | 3/30/2009, 9:16 pm EST

Def Leppard are gods. Every one of them. I’ve been going to see them since I was 11, (I’m 27) and they get better every time. I do miss Steve Clark, though. He was the genius, the spark, the Riffmaster.

Hard on for Lep | 3/30/2009, 9:49 pm EST

Dudes and dudettes, I still get a boner when I hear Photograph and I’m a 50 year old male. Still a virgin. Still living with my parents. Life is good. Rock on. Oh yeah!

This tour’s opening night is in my hometown. In fact its underway as i type this.

Have a few friends who have called me and said i was right by refusing to pay for some shit over-priced ticket and for decideing this show was not worth at all …. Everyone of them has said nothing but how much the show blows.

I knew i was right from the beginning.

Debbie Herman | 6/23/2009, 9:20 pm EST

Poison ? …

NO THANXS.

travis pastrana | 6/29/2009, 8:39 am EST

Cheap Trick? Oh YEAH!!! | 7/1/2009, 3:58 pm EST

At the show last night 6-30-09 the 10 song Cheap Trick Set List

Way of the World
I Want You to Want Me
These Days
She’s Tight
Don’t Be Cruel
Sick Man of Europe
Dream Police
The Flame
Surrender
Goodnight

Pure heaven. I didn’t go but heard that Cheap TRick were by far the best band. The fans begged them to keep playing but due to time restraints they had to finally leave the stage. Poison got booed off after 2 or 3 songs. Def Lepard were good but no where near the same level as Cheap Trick. Keep in mind Rick, Robin, Tom, and Bun E. have been together since 1974.

cheap trick | 7/1/2009, 5:08 pm EST

can someone please tell me what time they came on last night was it b4 poison or after def leppard

Anonymous | 7/2/2009, 12:32 pm EST

rednaz nibor rof doow | 7/2/2009, 5:21 pm EST

I’ll tell you what, like most guys I still get wood when I see Robin Zander from Cheap Trick on stage. Since I first saw them as a teen in 1978. My wife was actually jelous. Cheap Trick were awesome as always. Poison were horrible. The crowd booed them until they finally left the stage after just 4 or 5 songs. Def Lepard were great too!

sara | 7/6/2009, 11:37 pm EST

YOU SHOULD INCLUDE COLOMBIA IN THIS TOUR!!!!!!
WE REALLY WANT TO SEE YOUR SHOW HERE!!!!
I LOVE DEF LEPPARD

Anonymous | 7/7/2009, 2:52 am EST

“Meh” about Poison. Happy about Def Leppard. Freakin’ ecstatic about Cheap Trick.

And totally stoked about the concert as a whole. Hope I can make ATL.

Cheap Trick Rule! | 7/7/2009, 4:05 pm EST

WOW what a show. Cheap TRick were by far the best. Their version of the Beatles “A Day In The Life” was wonderful. I hope to get to a few of the Sgt Pepper shows in Las Vegas. Poison got booed off after 2 or 3 songs. Pathetic. Def Lep were very good!

Bun E's Bud E's | 7/8/2009, 2:53 am EST

Does anyone even know why Poison are on the bill? In all honesty they were a poor excuse for a band back in their so called “heyday” in the 80’s. But now? They should be playing at carnivals and airport parking lots. The lineup should only be Def Lep as the opening band with Cheap Trick as the headliner. It’s the only thing that makes any sense.

POISON | 7/8/2009, 12:25 pm EST

Poison definatly belongs here, they are one of the classic hair bands from the 80’s and deserve their spot on this tour, much more so than Cheap Trick would.

Oscar | 7/9/2009, 9:10 pm EST

Iwent to the Hartford show on July 7th. Cheap Trick were by far the best of the 3 bands. Everyone was in agreement. Poison on the other hand they got booed off of the stage after the 3rd song. Pathetic. Def Lep were good but nowhere near the same leauge as Cheap Trick

Poison Sux | 7/13/2009, 8:52 pm EST

I went ot he Bristow showe last night. Cheap Trick were awesome. Just wonderful. Poison got booed off after a couple of songs. Apparently this has been happening at almost every show so far on the tour. Def Lepard were very good too. It was a fun night. Poison sux!

Cincinnati Trick! | 7/14/2009, 4:13 pm EST

I’m going to the Cincinnati show tomorrow night. I still get a boner to Cheap Trick. I’ve been hearng about Poison getting booed off at almost every show. I’m looking forward to that tomorrow night.

Cincinnati - WKRP Coverage | 7/16/2009, 11:50 am EST

Dr Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap from WKRP in Cincinnati were the MC’s for the concert last night. Cheap Trick were the best by far. Once again Poison got booed off after 2 or 3 songs. Def Lep put on a good show.

don in cincinnati | 7/16/2009, 1:47 pm EST

poison did not get booed off the stage in cincinnati. i didn’t see or hear any attendees booing any band at any point in the evening. everyone seemed to be having a hell of a good time.

angry andy in cincinnati | 7/16/2009, 6:54 pm EST

I was the angry middle aged balding green teeth morbidly obese guy with the pock marked face wearing the Johnny Bench # 5 jersey standing at the front right of the stage when Cheap Trick played. I had my arms crossed a HUGE frown on my face and yelled and screamed until I finally passed out. Cheap Trick were great. Poison did get booed off after the third song. The audience hated them. Def Leppard were good. I’m a 54 year old male virgin still living with my mom in my boyhood bedroom. I’ve had the same room since 1959! I enjoy being angry and bitter. ;) oh I mean :(

UnZip69 | 7/16/2009, 8:50 pm EST

I don’t know what caoncert you’re talking about, but I was there last night in Cincy and Poison was cheered on for an encore…If anything Poison out performed the other 2 bands.

UnZip69 | 7/16/2009, 8:50 pm EST

I don’t know what concert you’re talking about, but I was there last night in Cincy and Poison was cheered on for an encore…If anything Poison out performed the other 2 bands.

bored in cincinnati | 7/17/2009, 1:24 am EST

I was at the show. And Poison were definately booed off. That is for sure. They seemed like they were going through the motions and the crowd was angry. By the end of the second song the boos were loud. They played a third song and left the stage. Cheap Trick and DEf Leppard both put on good shows.

Not happy in Cincy | 7/17/2009, 2:44 pm EST

Poison got booed off in Cincy. they sounded horrible. Cheap Trick and Def Lepard were both very good.

Tinley Park Show | 7/18/2009, 1:41 pm EST

I was at the Tinley Park show last night. Cheap Trick were the opener and amazing. Poison were next and got booed during their first song. The booing got louder and louder. They left after only 3 songs. I wish that they would get kicked off of the tour. Def Lepard put on a good show.

ChiTownPoisonFan | 7/18/2009, 10:32 pm EST

I was at the Tinley Park show on 7/17 and Poison in no way shape or form got booed off the stage. And they haven’t in any show either. If you don’t like a band, fine, but don’t go saying crap you know is not true!

Poison Sux | 7/21/2009, 11:42 am EST

Hi everyone, I was at the Maryland Heights show last night. Cheap Trick were the opener and were great. Poison were next. They were pathetic. They got booed off after 2 or 3 songs. It was so much fun yelling and screamng at them. I even lost my voice ;) Even aftre losing my voice I kept throwing my arms around with a HUGE frown on my face. Def Lep were good. It was worth it just to see Poison leave the stage in disgrace.

One-World girl | 7/22/2009, 3:51 pm EST

Ok, it may just be me but I think all 3 bands are bad ass! If there is one person on here who doesn’t respect each band YOU YOURSELF deserve to get booed off this website.. I’m going to the concert tomorrow night and Im gonna have one hell of a time, and hopefully lose my voice! :)

Kansas City Hates Poison | 7/22/2009, 4:38 pm EST

I went to the Kansas City show last night. The fans HATED Poison. They got booed off after a couple of songs. The first group Cheap Trick were very good. My husband said taht he used to dream that lead singere Robin Zander was a girl “down there”. Def Leppard were great too. I hate Poison too. ;)

I was at the concert in KC at the Sprint Center last night and it was great. POISON DID NOT get booed off stage. They got called back for an encore. They played there whole hour at was great. I was so hoarse when they were done had trouble yelling for Def Leppard but I did. It was awesome the whole 4 hours. Noone wanted to go.

I’ll be at the Raleigh show tonight. I’ve been told that Poison have been getting booed off at just about every show so far. This excites me very much. I am goin to love BOOING them. Dear God if you exist allow me to boo and not lose my voice at the show tonight.

Yes. A smart band like Cheap Trick who drew at least 25 people to get to the concert on time to see their show last night. Nobody booed Poison off. Get a life. The fact is the people who are actually there, as opposed to pathetic trolls who try to throw mud on message boards, enjoyed the Poison show immensely. The DL was of course the biggest, loudest and the brightest. Being able to use the full stage tends to promote that. Hating on Poison isn’t going to make anyone think you’re ‘cool’ any more than you wearing the ‘Dimebag RIP’ shirt you bought online a week ago.

“My husband said taht he used to dream that lead singere Robin Zander was a girl ‘down there’.”

Wow! Your husband may be holding back a lot of other strange yearnings in his head if that’s the one he let you know about.

Do you hate Poison so much because he wishes you were a girl ‘down there’ too?

Hi Tory! | 8/10/2009, 4:23 pm EST

Tory, you’re dull and ordinary. that’s it Tory get really really angry here. Take out your frustrations by eating a few boxes of Hostess products. I”m guessing you work the carnival circuit. Lazy drooping eye, green teeth, balding, pock marked face, diabetes, high blood pressure, 350 pounds, balding, and worse of all when you do take a shower you still stink afterwards. I have no idea who dime bag is. i will say this though, your anger and hatred is making me shoot the sauce. Yeah all over the computer screen like puke wax. Hey Tory does your guy have bigger dude boobs then you?

I stumbled across this site last nite and i have NEVER seen Poison booed in any way and i have been with them for 15 years.Get a life Get a job and stop hating because you have no talent

I can understand Def Leppard being compared to the likes of Led Zeppelin, AC\DC, Thin Lizzy, Rolling Stones, and hell, even Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had the band stuck to their sound displayed on High ‘n’ Dry and On Through the Night. Only those TWO albums actually “rocked,” and Pyromania wasn’t that bad, but it was their last truly rocking album.

Def Leppard are a joke nowadays without Steve Clark and Pete Willis (one of the founding members).

Cory you’re right. Poison getting booed off after 2 or 3 songs every night while Cheap Trick play to encores every night.
