- Neither DMC nor Russell Simmons seem thrilled about the planned Run-DMC biopic. “I don’t really have anything to do with it,” DMC told MTV. “I’m just happy that somebody thinks I’m important enough to do movie about.” Simmons also said that the Run-DMC story has been told twice before (Krush Groove, Tougher Than Leather), and added that the film shouldn’t be made “on a shoestring budget.” However, something the famed rap group is excited about: Their upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- Arkansas police discovered 500 pounds of marijuana on rapper Fabolous’ tour bus, the Boombox reports. Although the rapper was not on board at the time, the two men arrested in the bust told police that the weed belonged to Fab, and that the rapper loaded it onto the bus himself.
- Britney Spears’ ex-boyfriend, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, was charged with three felonies for allegedly trying to smash his car into a process server, TMZ reports. A warrant is out for Ghalib’s arrest. The process server was trying to give Ghalib papers on behalf of Britney Spears’ legal team, so Ghalib hit him with his car and kept driving as the server was on the hood. If convicted he faces a possible seven years in jail.
- Barenaked Ladies lead singer Steven Page has decided to leave the band after 20 years to pursue solo projects. “These guys are my brothers. We’ve grown up together over the past 20 years. I love them and wish them all the best in the future,” Page writes on the BNL Website. The band will continue on without Page, entering the studio in April 2009 to record a new album.
