The Fray, “Heartless” [Kanye West Cover]
Remember the Fray? Number One on the charts Fray? To help jog your memory — or to endear themselves to you all over again — they’ve released this quivering take on Kanye’s “Heartless” that somehow out-emos
the original. S-M would like to dub this version “Death Cab for Kanye.”

Propain vs. Campain, Zeppelin Mixtape [Mashup/Mixtape]
Alarmingly successful mixtape mashes up thumping Zeppelin samples with breathless verses from indie rappers like Sean Price and Agallah under the moniker “Propain Campain.” It is the one album that will bring together potheads on both sides of the musical aisle.

U2, “Get On Your Boots” [Crookers Remix]
In the late ’90s U2 went electro and fans started freaking out and saying what a bad idea it was. Yeah, why was that again? Remind me. Because this Crookers remix of “Get On Your Boots” is making me hope the boys didn’t get rid of that enormous mechanical lemon. Or the shirt the Edge wore in the “Discotheque” video.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Sheena is a Punk Rocker” [Ramones Cover]
There are certain readers of Single Minded who get inexplicably bent out of shape when we post things that aren’t fresh-from-the-studio. So to those people, forgive us for being four days late on the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s blistering Ramones cover. We only run once a week, after all.

Joe Crepusculo, “Gabriela” [El Guincho Remix]
It’s a small world after all: El Guincho takes Spanish popster Joe Crepusculo to Jamaica, turning in a dark, dubby re-imagining of Crepusculo’s “Gabriela.” For his next trick, El Guincho will turn the latest Matisyahu single into Christian Rock.

okay, thats Zeppelin mixtape, is horrible. those guys should die for disrespecting Zeppelin, its not even good rap, i wish rappers could just come up with there own beats instead of ripping of people that actually have talent with an instrument. This thing really pissed me off. i meen they tried to mix stairway to heaven. Stairway to heaven should never be messed with, ever.

U2’s “Pop” gets so maligned, but if you really stop and listen to it independent of the hype that surrounded its original release, it’s really a great rock album. Great guitars, great lyrics. It stands up with any of their great albums.

Zeppelin Mixtape would be a great bandname. And yes, Oddjob, POP is still way ahead of its time.

yeah that Zeppelin mixtape is pure trash, and I’m a huge fan of both hip-hop and Zep. Sounds very hastily put together with bad sound quality and horrible lyrics on top of that.

I have to say that I never heard the zep mix tape but I think some things should be left alone even though some of the best hip hop samples by rick rubin are classics and I am not talking about that walk this way garbage

funny re: the U2, back then it was called ‘techno’ and everybody f*&^ing hated it. Now, the same thing is called ‘electro’ and everybody can’t get enough of it. Weird.

I know that everyone hates it but i thought it was a pretty sweet idea…..yeah its not great…but the idea itself is sweet, the beats with page in the background are awesome in my opinion.

No one and I mean no one should ever destroy a Zeppelin song. These idiot rappers can not even learn how to play a guitar or any other intruments, so instead they steal from classic rock and a lot of other genres.

Have you ever considered borrowing from another artist could be seen as a tribute?
Everyone truely interestet in music and willing to expand his horizon acknowledges all kinds of genres. When I was 15, I was like “Everything that is not Rap is crap”. Maybe you folks just need to grow up…
Some youths might discover the greatness of Led Zeppelin by listening to that mixtape. Without this mixtape, they might think its just weird crap their dad listens to.
