Duff McKagan Opens Up About Guns n’ Roses, Punk Band Loaded and Steven Adler

2/17/09, 2:03 pm EST

When Duff McKagan dropped by the RS offices last week was running late due to an extended stopover at the Playboy headquarters. It didn’t seem like a problem until his people told us he had to be out of here by 12:30 p.m.. As you can see from his badge above, it was 12:19 at the time. In the 11 minutes we had together, McKagan very graciously answered a fast and furious barrage of questions about Velvet Revolver’s new lead singer, Guns n’ Roses, Steven Adler on Sober House and his punk band Loaded, who are releasing their new album Sick on April 7th. Here’s Duff in his own words:

On Loaded: “We have a really quirky sense of humor as a group and the type of music we do and like is a little left of center. We can take maybe more chances that Velvet Revolver can. We don’t have people depending on us for an income so we can kind of do whatever the fuck we want. We don’t have to go through a bureaucracy to make a video. We’ll make a video for 3,500 bucks, man, in a day and there’s no craft services and there’s no star wagon and we make a video at a place we find that we can get for free and we shoot it punk-rock style.”

On a possible Gn’R reunion: “People ask me that all the time. I certainly don’t sit here and go, ‘God, I wish that’s going to happen.’ I don’t even know what’s going to happen in four weeks from now in my life so I’m not going to be one of those guys who’s like, ‘Fuck that, that’ll never happen.’ It could very well happen. It would have to be right and it would have to be righteous for everybody and for the fans and it would have to be like a kick ass thing or it would just kind of be sour I think… I mean, I love Axl. We’ve been through a lot of shit together and shit nobody can take away from us no matter what people try to make of a squabble.”

On Steven Adler on Celebrity Rehab and Sober House: “I watched about four minutes… somebody said, ‘Dude, you got to watch this thing.’ It was too hard for me to watch. My stomach started getting queasy and I couldn’t watch it. It seems a little dirty, the whole deal. I know the Dr. Drew guy, and he is a strong member of the sober community and he’s helped a lot of people and I think his thing is, ‘Hey man, if one person can get sober out of this whole experience… great.’ I’ll put it this way: if I was still using, I would never go on that show. I don’t get it. I just don’t like reality TV.”

yeah!

Lacho | 2/17/2009, 5:13 pm EST

Is good to know that there is new music coming….I like them working on new music than thinking in the glorious past. I think the future will be better.

damian wood | 2/17/2009, 6:01 pm EST

Duff… Come and live in England. Our great weather will inspire you to write songs as good as the beatles. Do it dude, we’re pretty chilled over here!

jason, belfast | 2/17/2009, 7:41 pm EST

a gnr reunion wnt happen cos axl thought and still thinks he is gnr, he forgets the other guys talent and personalites made them the best rock band in a generation! especally duffs kickass riffs

Mikel K Poet | 2/17/2009, 7:49 pm EST

A dozen minute interview with Duff is more interesting than hours with many others…

jason, belfast | 2/17/2009, 7:54 pm EST

oh yeah, saw duff with loaded here in belfast in september, they were fantastic, he was jumpin in the front row with us and goin nuts! i couldnt hear for an hour afterwards, dont miss out if u ever get the chance to see them!!!

Nathan | 2/17/2009, 8:18 pm EST

I agree with him about Celebrity Rehab and Sober House, and I don’t personally know any of the people involved. His description of it being a “little dirty” is spot on – 99% of reality TV needs to go away! I’ve lost a lot of respect I had for Dr. Drew after these shows.

diaencephalon | 2/17/2009, 9:05 pm EST

Axl should start by bringing Izzy back into GnR. Then Duff. And later Slash. By then Steven Adler will be cleaned up enough to drum.

But first release the next installment of Chinese Democracy.

someone | 2/17/2009, 10:37 pm EST

it would be one the best things to ever happen 4 GNR 2 get back 2gether cauz i wasnt even born to c them in there hay day AXL, STEVEN, SLASH, IZZY & DUFF I LOVE U

dhjfcbfd | 2/18/2009, 1:09 am EST

Loaded is awesome. Anyone who hasn’t heard them go listen to “No More” and “Seattlehead” if ur ever lookin for a band with a cool punk rock edge.

Axl Rose | 2/18/2009, 1:11 am EST

A reunion isn’t happening until Slash gets his head out of his ass. But you and Izzy can come back anytime if you keep in line.

Dexter | 2/18/2009, 1:43 am EST

Duff is the shit. His transformation into sobriety is inspiring. Axl said himself in the Billboard interview he’d be open to working with Duff again.

Axl Rose | 2/18/2009, 1:49 am EST

never mind.. I love Tommy and Richard so you two are fucked

JV | 2/18/2009, 4:16 am EST

Just get over it. They will never get back together unless they’re desperately broke and really need to make some money.

It had to happen before the Chinese Democracy album. Now it’s too late, I’m not seeing the old guns playing Chinese songs and recording and album after this one.

The VR guys are stuck in the punk rock/grunge formula and they can’t work with Axl because he doesn’t like that formula anymore, he moved on into something more progressive and the old guns are not very good in that genre, well, they don’t even like it.

I for instance prefer music with a progressive edge. Punk rock gets boring because it’s predictable. Works well for teenagers, but hey, I’m 32 years old. I need something more challenging so thank you Axl for challenging my ears a little bit.

p.s. After getting into The Mars Volta almost everything sounds boring to me. Chinese Democracy sounds almost perfect to me.

Eric | 2/18/2009, 7:03 am EST

You know if there was a reunion does anyone actually want Steven Adler to play over Matt Sorum?

I know Steve is the original drummer but Matt is just so much better, and actually played on more of their stuff. Maybe its just me but i would definitely prefer Sorum over Adler.

JD | 2/18/2009, 7:12 am EST

Axl should kick himself out of GNR and velvet revolver can have him as their new singer.

As for me I would rather catch a dub trio show any day of the week.

Carol | 2/18/2009, 8:10 am EST

Axl in his last interview said that he could work with Duff.

Duff said: ¨I mean, I love Axl¨.

Thus:

Axl = Duff = OK.

The problem is Axl and Slash. They don’t get along.

Anonymous | 2/18/2009, 8:47 am EST

Who cares?

Slash Rocks | 2/18/2009, 9:09 am EST

>Anybody that likes the old GNR can’t possibly like Chinese Dem. It shouldn’t even be able to have the GNR name attached to it.
>Slash, Duff, and Matt rock! I loved Velvet Revolver and I hope they are able to find another singer who can mesh with them like Scott Weiland did.
>A GNR reunion with all 5 will never happen. Anybody who thinks it will, stop kidding yourself! Axl is a drama queen. Izzy will never be a part of GNR again, he’s done with them, its over. Steven was fired from GNR for a reason. He is still not able to perform. Slash, Duff, and Matt–keep doing your things! It’s still just as awesome as ever!

Money | 2/18/2009, 10:03 am EST

Maybe not now, but there will be a reunion in the future. The money will be to great a sum for Axl to turn down, especially the way Chinese Democracy is selling. I think Chinese Democracy is awesome by the way but it isn’t GnR.
The more Axl speaks, the more I think he is the problem, just like when Eddie Van Halen does an interview. Axl has said for the last 13 years he has been writing songs yet has only just released a new CD. Same goes for Eddie.

Martin From Argentina | 2/18/2009, 10:15 am EST

¿¿¿¿Duff cut his hair¿?¿??¿

John | 2/18/2009, 10:28 am EST

Nobody really knows what has happened between all the guys in the band except themselves.Everything we here is all he said this he said that and the most of it is made up by the media. Some day hopefully they can play together again. Now the difference in music between the two bands is clear.Axl is going for a different sound where VR’s music is more towards the guns era of early 90’s. By that it sounds dirty with the guitars where Axl’s is more of a cleaner sound. Now I know axl has been remixing and editing the sound for years now. I think what it comes down to is they all want to go their own directions musically wise. You can’t blame them for that.

Slash | 2/18/2009, 11:49 am EST

OK i will take my head out of my ass.. i tastes like axl anyway..

how about | 2/18/2009, 12:10 pm EST

axl, duff, izzy, matt, dizzy with robin finck or bumblefoot on lead? LOL only one missing is slash (hated by axl) and steven adler (making a career out of reality TV)

Axl | 2/18/2009, 12:28 pm EST

Duff it’s my friend.

Carol | 2/18/2009, 12:44 pm EST

I don’t know why some old gn’r fans are narrow-minded and think that if like old gn’r, you can’t like new gn’r/Chinese Democracy.

I liked old gn’r, and I love Chinese Democracy. The sound is great.

Carol | 2/18/2009, 12:54 pm EST

Yeah, we don’t know what exactly happened between Axl and Slash. Neither Axl nor Slash told us what happened. Axl is angry with Slash, but we don’t know why he is angry.

Slash, what have you done/said to Axl?

And a reunion is impossible.

Bucket Head | 2/18/2009, 1:11 pm EST

Duh!

Frank Wright | 2/18/2009, 1:26 pm EST

Slash opened his big mouth in his Biography about AXL.
And that shit didnt fly too well.

ribeye | 2/18/2009, 1:33 pm EST

To make a great album someone has to be uncool enough to fight for their vision. In GnR that person was Axl. Chinese Democracy proves it. Without him you have VR. Good but not great. Weiland isn’t going to stand up against the others for what he believes in.

HisPrinceMichael | 2/18/2009, 2:02 pm EST

Duff, has got a realistic perception on the G n’ R reunion.
Humbly, he fails to mention that
a G n’ R reunion/tour, would easily be THE biggest thing to
hit ROCK music, in the last twenty
or so, years.

ROCKERO | 2/18/2009, 2:27 pm EST

Charles Justice | 2/18/2009, 2:31 pm EST

John Fogerty has never re-united with CCR and I would likewise be surprised if Axl would ever re-unite with GNR. Which is too bad. I’ve been a HUGE fan of the band and it’s members since the late ’80s and still feel they were the greatest rock band since the 60s. They were like the perverbial lightning in a bottle. But they have all gone down different paths because of whatever. And that is between them and should be nobody else’s business. I love them all and I love all their music. I think “Chinese Democracy” is one hellaciously great album and I really look forward to hearing more from Axl…and hopefully soon. God bless Axl and all the other Gunners. As John Wayne once said to Barbara Walters, “Don’t let the bastards get you down!”

Leonardo | 2/18/2009, 3:30 pm EST

and we need with the ex-guns members is just a litlle patience…

I love Axl and Chinese asd much as I love old GN’R material…but this ”new” Guns is more interesting/exciting so I pray that they never do a reunion.

Get Robin Finck back and let´s rock

just2cold | 2/18/2009, 3:59 pm EST

OLD BAGAGE,
who the hell would want to pick up Axel and all the shit that comes along with him. He nothing more than a pain in the ass, but a awesome musician. VR got rid of the last pail of ___. Now it’s time to more on people…m

just2cold if your going to insult axl you might as well learn to spell his name.

jason, belfast | 2/18/2009, 7:20 pm EST

gnr were the best thing to happen to rock music since the stones, there just hasnt been a true rocknroll band since, i mean gnr cud play, the albums still blow me away now after 17yrs, chinese isnt a true gnr album but i do like a couple tracks! the mess that is gnrs legacy needs sorted cos a reunion and tour would be massive, show the kids that tv ‘talent’ shows that make the rich richer arent the answer!

Peter S. | 2/18/2009, 7:39 pm EST

Axl is very tempermental … as most girls are.

Bryan | 2/18/2009, 10:54 pm EST

Reunion probably won’t happen until these guys are all 60 and finally act mature about the situation. And the greatest thing to happen for GnR isnt a reunion, but just seeing a sober Steven Adler would be the best thing to see.
Also, those that say GnR is the greatest band since the 60s, major overstatment. Love their music, but the best would have to be U2. Great music and no breakups. They have been going strong for nearly 30 years now.

Hoss | 2/19/2009, 2:30 am EST

Why can’t everybody just learn that not all bands aren’t meant to be together forever. Appreciate the albums that Guns N Roses put out and realize that a reunion will never live up to the hype or expectations. Let’s take some time and reminsce about the time they were kicking ass and wonder why did they put out the Spagetti Incident. haha…

matthew schug | 2/19/2009, 7:09 am EST

I live in northern indiana where guns and roses never played once…or vr….i loved both bands and i cant get into chinese what so ever….black sabbath and deep purple had line up changes all the time and still gave us great music for years with on and off reunions. Ozzy has been there and back and is still vertical to the horizion. as long as the origanal line up isnt dead theres hope. if one dies well get one of two things……pantera “never getting back together” or alice in chains “who wants to see em”

Carol | 2/19/2009, 7:10 am EST

All of them are great musicians. Thus, the best thing we can do, it’s to enjoy their music. We can choose to listen to old gn’r, new gn’r & vr.

the REAL Axl Rose | 2/19/2009, 7:17 am EST

listen duff, you’re an asshole and your band is a piece of shit.
if you think we’ll ever get gnr back together well then you are a fuckin’ dumbass.
wait you are a dumbass and you should get off the H.
okay fuckhead?

the one band member I would like to see back is Izzy as he wrote most of the songs, mind u duff isn’t bad…

Chicken N Chips | 2/20/2009, 9:45 am EST

who the fuck r the Fartz?

Dan | 2/20/2009, 12:28 pm EST

Using Mr. Adler’s drug misery to sell soap is disgusting. I hope Dr. Drew gives all profits from his show to AA or other sober groups.

Huppmoile | 2/20/2009, 1:00 pm EST

No Slash, no GnR.
No Geddy, no Rush.
No Michael, no VH.

mick mars | 2/20/2009, 4:27 pm EST

its funny, they used to open for motley, back then everyone just wanted a chance at fame andto rock….

jim | 2/20/2009, 4:29 pm EST

The problem with Chi Dem is its too good. One of a kind. Give it time and every band out there wanting to re-establish themselves as ” growing in their art ” will begin to sound like Chi Dem. Once they learn to produce that well.

jim | 2/20/2009, 4:46 pm EST

another thing, this is the most ear tantilizing record I have ever heard. Im not confused by it. It may take me years to hear it all. that is its beauty, kinda like watching a movie and seeing something you didnt see in it before. I wish I were 1/10th that talented

Dr. Cornelia J. Dogbarker PhD | 2/20/2009, 9:24 pm EST

I enjoy thinking about a Guns N’ Roses reunion concert, they seem like nice boys and their music has an enjoyable beat and uplifting lyrics, which I like.

Greenbear | 2/21/2009, 10:59 am EST

If they get Adler back in the fold, they stand a chance of being GNR again, but without the original 5, it’s not the same. Once Sorum was in, the chemistry changed for the worse & all the egos went wild (especially Axle, who was never the talented member of the group. Just the loudest). I echo the sentiment that U2 is THE band of the last 30 years. REM was up there until Bill Berry left. Then the chemistry was changed & they have only been sporadically good since. Reforming The Undertones or Jam would be far more punk & exciting to me.

Rik | 2/22/2009, 2:58 am EST

I agree the band changed when Matt Sorum joined.I will always associate him with The Cult more than GnR anyway. Too much time has passed.Forget a reunion.

ben myles | 2/22/2009, 5:11 am EST

guns n roses were the best band on earth and its a damn shame they split but as they say they were way too fucking explosive and did more than most big bands will ever did in the time they had together the loveliest girls are in your gnrs

stuart | 2/22/2009, 4:29 pm EST

the time has come for someone to speak some fucking sence. i have seen and been a gnr fan since the start and am sick of the bullshit i read about the greatest rock n roll band of all time. the fact is that guns can and never will be the same. there ime has passes and there leagacy with live forever. i have seen velvet revolver many time but wuld never go and see the new gnr becouse its not and never will give us old fans the same anticipation of what was coming next. i follow slash becouse he’s what axl’s not, and thats true to the great rock gods that we all grew up with. so lets end the bullshit please and remember that those of us who are the real guns fans no matter what happens. is that we where lucky to witness, rock n roll at its greatest. the memories are will live , like there music. (forever)

stuart from scotland | 2/22/2009, 5:10 pm EST

Just one more thing. If Slash ,Duff, or Matt is out there. please for the sake of rock fans all over the world, please dont ever stop. Becouse without you guys i personaly have no ucking idea what i would do. And as for Mr Rose ? I feel a great sadnesthat you feel the need to carry something on that an self respecting guns fan would class as nothing other than an insult to the name. Keep n kicking ass VR and fuck what anyone els has got to say. please more slash solo’s on the solo record and up and coming VR record.

H | 2/22/2009, 11:50 pm EST

Its funny how there are like 4 different people claiming to be Axl on here.

Alex | 2/23/2009, 4:13 am EST

What you people don’t seem to understand is that there was a time when these guys junkies living on the street where the only escape was music.

This led to the creation of something raw and real because they didn’t care about getting signed. They just wanted to play and get wasted.

Then they became rich and eventually business men and all went downhill from there. Big egos and lots of money.

Even if they were together it wouldn’t be better than the new GNR, maybe it would be much worse.

When Slash and Duff joined the band they were already called GNR. It was Axl’s and Izzy’s band and they already had most of appettite already written. Slash simply added some licks and solos. Very good addition to the band, but everybody knows or needs to realise that songwriting skills are much more important than some solos. Solos without good backing music are never any good.

Has Axl the right to use the name? Maybe he has maybe he hasn’t. I would like it or hate it the same whatever name they were using. What difference does it make?

At least Axl tried to do something different while Slash keeps using and abusing the same song formula he uses since his Slash’s Snake Pit.

VR are not bad but to me they sound like a grunge band with Slash’s solos on top. All 90’s grunge bands are much better than VR. At least they were playing in the right decade while VR are playing they’re outdated music in the 2000’s like they invented a new genre.

I loved VR for a few months and even went to a gig. After that it just got boring. The albums get old fast and the live performance is to plastic for me.

Adler | 2/23/2009, 3:17 pm EST

If there ever is a reunion (and that’s a big IF), Adler needs to be on drums as opposed to Sorum. The former gave their live music a real kick while the latter turned them into a boring, plodding cookie cutter band. See, drummers DO have an impact people!

Mr. Brownstone | 2/24/2009, 2:35 pm EST

If you look at all the good songs Axl was credited, Chinese Democracy is by far the best album musical, maybe it doesn’t give you that nostolgic feel but musical its the best of what was GNR and shows you the future of GNR.
what slash songs are any good, he is not a writer he is a B graded blues soloist, which you could find at any small town night club in the country.
AXL is GNR

i love gnr. the old one not this immitation of a band. its the sum of all the musicians that make a band. not one ego manic. i heard three songs. off the new cd. and they stink. no slash no duff. im not interested thanks. i see many bands dying. god rest in piece gnr.

GNR--time for band therapy | 2/27/2009, 11:29 pm EST

I love the show Sober House and I enjoy Adler a lot. That and the show Celebrity Rehab together show you why Adler got kicked out of GNR though. He’s a real sweetheart when sober, but has the worst vampire of a mother blood sucking any hopes of a career away–so much so that Axl Rose blames Adler’s mother as much as his addictions for the fact that he can’t work with him. Sad as heck. When Adler’s high he’s a horror show even w/out the awful mother.

I would love to see the original line up again, and a sober Adler. I wish these guys would just do band therapy. Hey, even Metallica sucked it up and went to a shrink — on camera no less.

Time to dig up Freud if need be.

As a bonus Freud could help Adler get the truly twisted mom out of his life.

force26 | 2/28/2009, 7:09 pm EST

fact is, G n’ R was ALWAYS a passing fad, a temporary thing. They came at the end of the “hair” thing, and while they were hyped as anti- hair metal, check out Axl’s hair in the “Jungle” video. Appetite was a great album, but they did almost NOTHING of worth after that era, and when Nirvana and grunge went big it was over because Use Your Illusion was going in the wrong direction. Kurt and Courtney taunted him at the MTV awards because it was OVER for them…it still is. Oh, any reunions, Adler is the only drummer or it won’t work…if it’s Sorum it’s still nostalgia, but for the WRONG era.

Me | 3/6/2009, 10:55 am EST

Guys Slash never bagged axl in his auto biography he make the book to dispell all the rumours etc I think that to get a reunion happening you’d need to get Steven sober, make the other business and personal crap fair enough for duff,Get Slash and Axl in a room for long enough and they’ll realise that they don’t actually want to tear each other apart, then tell Izzy everyone else is on board and there u have it :) i think that u cant take anything away from any of them Slash is the only person that could play old gunners with conviction and purpose and Axl (once you remove all the egotistical bullshit) is possibly the worlds best frontman hands down

NY,NY | 3/7/2009, 10:19 pm EST

Chinese Democracy is an amazing album. Diffferent from old guns, but still good. Give it a chance, b/c it really grows on you.

why steven adler.duff mckagan.izzy strdlin and slash are so cute!??!

steve | 3/15/2009, 10:28 am EST

Chi-dem was ok but lacked that raw and blues sound, I think that Axl next cd will still let people know he really is guns and roses. Go axl! never give up on the real fans! but please dont take so long, im in my 30s now! lol

wheredidGNRgo? | 3/31/2009, 2:25 pm EST

okay people need to stop acting like they are axl posting comments espically the fuckhead who spelt his name wrong(axel rose) its axl dick head and a reunion would be insane i would pay my life savings for that. slash and axl need to figure things out and steve needs to sober up

Axl | 4/27/2009, 7:01 pm EST

You Know where the fu$K you are?????

I think I am hungry. I have to go to the bathroom and drop another GNR. Should only take a minute.

Johnny Buttcracke ESQ. | 4/27/2009, 8:50 pm EST

I was always sure it was Axl Dickhead.I think he was the weird guy that lived down the street.

almighty shitdemon | 5/12/2009, 5:14 pm EST

Matt Sorum is as big of a cocksucker as Axl. They need to fire him no matter what they do. I admit is an ok drummer, but he is a whiney little bitch. Too bad Adler can’t get his shit together.

GNR Rocks | 5/13/2009, 9:48 am EST

As a fan from the beginning, I can’t believe the bullshit comming from some of these so called GNR fans. No one knows the real story behind the bands split, except those who were invoved, namely the band. All you know is what you,ve read or heard and decided whose arse you’d rather crawl up. Of course GNR now aren’t the same now, they wouldn’t have been if they were still together. So you should all pull your heads out of your arses, or whoevers arse you’ve got it shoved up, and remeber the most important thing to all of these guys, (Axl, Duff, Slash, Izzy, Steve and Matt) and that’s the MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Velvet Revolver needs to stop the search for a new singer. Get Izzy, drop the name Velvet Revolver, and call the band GUNS. No Rose, just GUNS. BTW, give “Sick” a chance. Loaded is a DAMN good band, and they put on an excellent show live!

I want a reunion including Steven and Izzy. I met Steven last week and he is one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met. I can tell you know, he has got his shit together and is ready to play again. It’s fair enough if Axl wants to keep releasing albums and touring but Guns N’ Roses just isn’t Guns N’ Roses anymore. I can’t wait til the day when the original Guns go on tour and release a real album, just like the Appetite days.

I love everything about early Guns…..and I’m trying really hard to enjoy what each guy is doing now. I can tell you that for me 90% of it is still incredible and it still rocks, but 1 of them soley…..I just don’t get it. No one does, it is a flop.

I won’t ever loose my faith that someday, they will all realize that without Slash and Axl together they can never touch that nerve that launched all of them to where there are. I don’t think another real rock band will come along anywhere near appetite days for a long time….

The fans are simply being discarded by the personalities…..and to be honest, that same brash asshole attitude is why we all loved ‘em. So I guess we can all just suck it.

There was a lot more to GN’R than just Axl and Slash. I agree that they are both awesome musicians but if they didn’t have Izzy writing most of the songs and Duff making most of the beats then they would be nothing. Why do you think Slash still has Duff in his band? HE’S A FUCKING MUSICAL GENIUS!

>The guy posing as Axl on this forum is a moron without much of a life. Just needed to put that out there.

>Everyone is down for a reunion but Axl and Slash. However keep in mind, no one ever thought the original Van Halen would ever get back together, or Motley Crue, yet we were all wrong about that too.

>People give Axl a hard time because it’s the “cool” thing to do. But I guaran-damn-tee you, if a reunion ever did happen, they’d all fucking love him again.

>The majority of people who hate Chinese Democracy weren’t even BORN to experience the generation that GNR virtually transformed. And no, listening to Appetite (even if it’s the best GNR album of all time) does not count. That doesn’t mean they aren’t fans, it just gets on my nerves when people hate on Axl for Chinese Democracy and praise Slash because it’s cool to do that on the internet, but forget it was Izzy who wrote the majority of the original songs.

>Axl isn’t the only one against a reunion. Slash is too, and has said so plenty of times. In fact Axl never once said he wouldn’t do it. All he said was that he would be dead before it ever happened. Don’t try to read into that. He very well could just mean that he thinks it’ll never happen and that he would die of old age first. Not a “over my dead body” thing.

>Anyone who says you can’t like old GNR and current GNR is an ass. Thats like saying you can’t like Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver both.

>Anyone who compares Appetite to Chinese Democracy is an ass. No GNR album compares to Appetite, and none ever will. Not Lies. Not Illusion 1 or 2. Not Chinese Democracy. None of them can compare, so why bother trying. Hell even the Slash from the Illusion albums can’t compare to the Slash of Appetite. So why compare?

>Internet geeks who claim to be die hard GNR fans but hate on Axl are pathetic. There are TWO sides to every story, and keep in mind even those two sides that you read about in various interviews, you still do NOT hear FIRST HAND. Remember it’s the media. Don’t ever put 100% faith in it. GNR Lies taught us that.

i like the new GNR and the old GNR but i think if a reunion ever did happen it would be axle, izzy, gilby, duff, and matt.im a big fan of all these guys but i dont see slash involved unless him and axle could settle their differences.as for now maybe slash could join sammy hagar & michael anthoney.they would rock pretty good together.and lets hope when GNR’s time comes for the hall of fame sometime in the future they will all be there unlike van halen(i like them too but they all should have been there)

GNFRFAN | 11/14/2009, 3:11 pm EST

Please get together you godamnn motherfuckers!!!!!!!! I’d die a happy death if I see a GNR reunion! Axl and Slash are like perfect couple in divorce. It’s heartbreaking. Please get together – it would be the MOST AWESOME reunion in the history of rock n roll, if you do! I hope my dream will come true! GNR Reunion!!!!!!!!
