Velvet Revolver “Weeks Away” From Announcing New Singer

Velvet Revolver are only “weeks away” from announcing their new singer, according to bassist Duff McKagan. “It’s down to a couple of guys,” he tells Rolling Stone. “That’s way down from the 400 original guys we got submissions from.” Don’t expect it to be another superstar like Scott Weiland. “It’s not like Chris Cornell or one of those guys,” says the former Guns n’ Roses member. “We just want someone that fits. It can’t just be good. It has to be amazing or we won’t do it.”

The hunt for a new frontman — which began shortly after Weiland split from the band a year ago — has proved daunting. “We thought it was going to be real easy,” says McKagan. “After Scott left we said, ‘Ok, we’re just going to find a guy in the next couple of weeks. It’s going to be easy.’ You start hearing all these singers and you’re like, ‘This guy’s really good. That guy’s really good. Wait? Was that guy any good?’ You start getting really confused.”

On April 1, 2008, Velvet Revolver announced their official split with Weiland via a press release, citing the Stone Temple Pilots singer’s “erratic onstage behavior” and “personal problems,” and Slash told RS “We’re just excited about finding someone else and moving on.” Later that month, Velvet Revolver revealed they were setting up a Website where hopefuls could post video auditions. A month later, the band announced that they weren’t going to use a reality show to cast their new frontman, even though they’d been approached by Survivor and Rock Star producer Mark Burnett. In August 2008, McKagan denied that VR had picked up Spacehog singer Royston Langdon, but noted that the frontman is “fucking awesome.”

Axl Rose | 2/12/2009, 5:23 pm EST

Still waiting for those guys to call me…

Jeff | 2/12/2009, 5:24 pm EST

The only suitable singer for Duff, Slash, and Matt is named Axl Rose.

And he’s busy writing music much more interesting than anything Duff, Slash, or Matt have come up with in the last 15 years.

Scott Weiland | 2/12/2009, 5:44 pm EST

Hey guys, this Stone Temple Pilot gig isn’t working out…can I come back? Please? My solo album is a tank-job too, and so I reeeally need a job again…

Jim Morrison | 2/12/2009, 6:09 pm EST

I’ve been wanting to make my comeback for the last 38 years but never found the guys to back me.
Until now….

StrummerJones | 2/12/2009, 6:12 pm EST

To be honest, I’d like to see Izzy doing it.

chris brown | 2/12/2009, 6:49 pm EST

hell yeah… the cops will never find me here!!!!

Axl Rose | 2/12/2009, 6:52 pm EST

Since my latest album tanked with these hack no-names behind me I figure I might need you guys after all. I’m sorry? I promise I will stop having temper tantrums and actually show up on time to the gigs.

Vinnie Dombrowski | 2/12/2009, 7:29 pm EST

I look like Scott Weiland and can sing way better then him. Sponge is a great band but Velvet Revolver and I could be 10 times better.

Vinnie Dombrowski | 2/12/2009, 7:29 pm EST

I look like Scott Weiland and can sing way better then him. Sponge is a great band but Velvet Revolver and I could be 10 times better.

Chris Cornell | 2/12/2009, 7:41 pm EST

If they called, I could get Timbaland to produce!

Kurt Cobain | 2/12/2009, 8:01 pm EST

Fuck you all.

jimi hendrix | 2/13/2009, 12:00 am EST

they should give me a call…

Abraham Lincoln | 2/13/2009, 12:32 am EST

Get me a mic and some leather pants. I’m in.

JV | 2/13/2009, 5:06 am EST

Vinnie Dombrowski, haha, I don’t think he looks the part at all, he looks like a wannabe and a copycat. Nothing new in his style.

I don’t think a new singer is all they need. They need a decent songwriter like Izzy Stradlin. Slash has been proving all these years that he wasn’t the genius behind guns, he’s a good lead guitarist like Kirk Hammet, but at least kirk has the brains and decency to realise that without James he’s just a box of good licks.

Gyusz! | 2/13/2009, 6:19 am EST

I think Alice Cooper would be a perfect fit for Velvet Revolver. Just listen to The Garden, or Vengeance Is Mine…What a super group that would be..

The Voice Of Reason | 2/13/2009, 10:21 am EST

They should get Rob Carlyle from The Compulsions.

Don’t know who he is?

You should.

Look him up.

Gwen | 2/13/2009, 10:26 am EST

The should get Rob Carlyle from The Compulsions.

rhianna | 2/13/2009, 10:49 am EST

hey dudes,i look the part now with all my scars and black eye
pick me!

Eddie Vedder | 2/13/2009, 11:29 am EST

I would be honored if they asked. My career has been a sham and I would love to make real music.

Taj Vida | 2/13/2009, 11:52 am EST

Marty Casey from the Lovehammers would be good…That guy is the real deal!

J | 2/13/2009, 12:16 pm EST

This is just a way to stay in the press. There is no new singer.

the real TC | 2/13/2009, 12:34 pm EST

FLASH!!

it’s Axl!!

Craig Hlavaty | 2/13/2009, 12:42 pm EST

Carl Brutananadilewski

Jungleland2 | 2/13/2009, 1:15 pm EST

Royston Langdon is a great pic. Izzy would never do it and his voice does not sound like VR songs (he’s more Keith Richards sounding)

sentimental movie | 2/13/2009, 1:16 pm EST

i don’t think that slash and co. couldn’t write the the kind of stuff on CD, i think if they went into that direction, it would be even better than CD! they just need to get together and write! just do it guys, already.

Mango | 2/13/2009, 1:31 pm EST

Come on guys….Gilbert O’Sullivan hasn’t had a gig in awhile…. he could do “Alone Again,UNATURALLY”!!!!! :)

Joe | 2/13/2009, 1:36 pm EST

Butch Walker

Billy Idol | 2/13/2009, 1:52 pm EST

Velvet Revolver + Idol … enough said!

simon cowell | 2/13/2009, 2:03 pm EST

I know the perfect man for the band….clay aiken.

If not him michael monroe from hanoi rocks would be great!

redraiderdc | 2/13/2009, 2:45 pm EST

Doesn’t Christine McVie need the work?

CR1ZZ | 2/13/2009, 3:06 pm EST

Christine McVie?? wtf. I would see her with fleetwood and no other band. Great to hear that velvet might be getting a new voice, but they gotta come to new zealand with this one.

Kliff | 2/13/2009, 3:53 pm EST

Boy George would a great fit :)

Kurt Cobain | 2/13/2009, 3:58 pm EST

you guys really need ME….jeje..WAIT IM DEAD? SHIT!!…

AG | 2/13/2009, 4:01 pm EST

It won’t matter who it is because they will pick someone who will just follow their lead or someone who can’t write (like Scott), either way it will lead to more mediocre songs and Slash’s legacy will tank further.

Axl Rose | 2/13/2009, 4:05 pm EST

Have fun losers!!!!!!!!!!!!

TO "AG" | 2/13/2009, 4:20 pm EST

Hey you box of shit. Have you ever heard 12-Bar-Blues before. Weiland can’t write. Eat a bag of d!cks.

Axl Rose | 2/13/2009, 4:31 pm EST

still waiting….

Leonardo | 2/13/2009, 5:03 pm EST

Fuck them…Chinese Democracy is far best than anything they’ve done…
Axl is the true talent in GNR…

Tiago | 2/13/2009, 5:27 pm EST

Velvet revolver is the greatest hard rock band in a long time. hope they find a good frontman, as was weiland.

Rick Astley | 2/13/2009, 5:51 pm EST

Never gonna give, never gonna give, give me a call…

lol @ the Rick Astley comment | 2/13/2009, 6:45 pm EST

.

rob | 2/13/2009, 7:41 pm EST

cheers to whoever suggested butch walker. he is the real deal, but i doubt he would do it. he is more into the singer/songwriter vibe right now. how did RS not review his last album? it is unreal.

Marissa | 2/13/2009, 8:38 pm EST

To StrummerJones: Actually, when Velvet Revolver first started and Scott wasn’t even the singer yet, Izzy offered for him and Duff to be the lead singers. Duff liked the idea, but I don’t know how it would have worked out in the long run. It would definately been interesting to hear, though.

Josh | 2/13/2009, 8:56 pm EST

Hopefully Slash can find somebody a little less talented than the lead singers he’s already worked with. Amazing stage presence and vocals can be such a distraction when you’re jerking off your Les Paul for a couple hours. A shitty work ethic will help the new guy/girl also. God forbid Slash should have to sit still and concentrate on a song for more than a single session; then it would lose all its spontaneity.

Slash and Duff should tie each other off and get back to what made them great: Axl and heroin.

David Coverdale | 2/13/2009, 9:03 pm EST

Hey, VR!! I’m not doing anything. Call me.

Pat Boone Fan | 2/13/2009, 9:24 pm EST

the only sensible choice is pat boone. he made the last real hard rock album the world has seen, and it is time for him to make another.

if the rest of the band can keep up with him, the music would be amazing.

Lee Harvey Wilbury | 2/14/2009, 12:35 am EST

How about this Scott Weiland join the Step Child Wilburys

Who tours first? | 2/14/2009, 12:44 am EST

GNR or VR? 100-1 VR.

D | 2/14/2009, 12:46 am EST

VR is pretty much the only good hard rock band left. So y r so many people talkin s**t? And where is all the Axl support coming from?Chinese Democracy is pretty good, but let’s face it : he was given the unusual opportunity to work on one album for over 14 years without people losing interest; it should have been better, especially considering how amazing Gnr used to be. Anyways, go ahead, diss VR. Just remember you’re destroying the last piece of decent, bad-a*s rock left on today’s pathetic music scene. Don’t believe me? Coldplay just won best rock album at the Grammys. COLDPLAY. I don’t know what else to say. Realize that VR and GNR are totally different, have every right to be, and show some support for REAL music.

Josh is an idiot | 2/14/2009, 12:59 am EST

Josh, you clearly don’t know anything about Slash or VR. Get off of this site and go listen to some more metro station or some other band that can’t play the instruments they have. Slash, Duff, and Matt have always given their singers total artistic freedom. Scott didn’t make the best of the opportunity, and it’s his own fault.

D | 2/14/2009, 1:09 am EST

Y did my last comment get removed? It just said that VR was pretty much the only good rock left ,( and I proved my point by reminding everyone that Coldplay won best rock album), and that people who have any respect for REAL music should stop hatin VR. What’s wrong with that? It’s not half as stupid or inappropriate as what some other people (Josh) said.

D | 2/14/2009, 1:10 am EST

Never mind it’s back now

Fuck-OFF! | 2/14/2009, 3:48 am EST

“It’s not like Chris Cornell or one of those guys,” How many out there can be compared to Chris Cornell? I mean honestly. Nevermind. It wouldn`t have been cool. I can`t imagine Cornell with VR. It`s just an unlikely combination in our universe. I miss Audioslave, though… :(

sun grooves | 2/14/2009, 7:19 am EST

3 weeks ain’t enough time to convince axl …

erl322 | 2/14/2009, 9:02 am EST

D,

U r dead wrong. There r plenty of bands around that still kick ass. I agree that there r a ton of new really shitty bands but no way in hell is VR the ONLY decent one around. And for the record Coldplay is amazing. How come when a good band comes up that isnt completely focused on doing drugs smashing things and being as loud as possible (not saying VR is that way but alot of bands r) people r afraid to actually like them. Coldplay is great and clearly alot of people think they r great or else they wouldnt have won a grammy and they wouldnt be nearly as successful as they are. People just cant stand actually liking a band that is different in some way. Honestly sure there are bands out there lots of people like that I dont but i dont make a point of saying how they dont deserve to win an award or be popular, i just take a listen decide i dont want to continue listening and go to something else. just let people like what they want to like and stop trying to convince people that VR is the best and only band they should be listening to.Its people like u that r slowly killing the music industry. Good day sir.

Also I really dont think chris cornell would work. I want VR to find somebody that isnt already huge. I want them to find someone with raw unused as of yet talent and implement them into their sound. I feel if they take an already famous singer it will lock the band into being seen as a certain style or having a certain fan base.

So basically stop dissing popular music because u dont agree. just let people be themselves and like wat they like without being criticized. So just remember to Rock on and let the good times roll..

The 30 year old fan | 2/14/2009, 10:17 am EST

Unfortunatly i CANT see a group of guys like VR recruiting some amazing unknown singer and setting the world on fire. Face it.. the rock gods gave 5 young guys, fueled by drugs and booze, a window of about 24 months to write some of the most brilliant rock material of all time.. (86-88) It took a further 4 years for all the material to get out there in it’s final form and by the 5th year it all imploded and the creative energy, youthfull endevour and hard lifestyle was gone forever.. so too the ability to create the music. I mean i wouldnt complain. 4 great albums is better than 20 somthing offspring albums right??? Time to let it go and just move on…

Wheres the talent? | 2/14/2009, 10:23 am EST

Is it just me or does it seem that there has been no real signing talent to come out since the early 90’s?

ALL the old names keep comming up, Chris Cornell, Mike Patton, Axl Rose, Lenny Kravitz, Scott Weiland, James Hetfield.. Are the new generation of singers there but lack the killer band to make it or is it the other way around???

Was a fan | 2/14/2009, 10:25 am EST

Anonymous | 2/14/2009, 2:59 pm EST

I don’t think it takes much to confuse Duff.

Mike Monroe | 2/14/2009, 4:12 pm EST

I just kicked Andy McCoy out of my beloved Hanoi Rocks so I’m available. I don’t know how to use a video camcorder for audition, though. -See, I am blond, like Kate Hudson is. Well, hire me anyway. I promise I send you my back catalogue in mail. But remember, they are my only copies, my only children. Treat them with respect, not like Axl treated those CD demos by various producers that his record company supplied him with.

Morrissey | 2/14/2009, 4:24 pm EST

Hello Messieurs,
my name is S. Patrick Morrissey. I’m English, I drink too much alcohol, abuse my pancreas, I have gotten an infusion of Wnglish blood and nobody knows who I sleep with. But I don’t do drugs nor eat animals. As far as I know, that was your problem with your latest vocalist. Since my present backing band cannot play (and you should hear them play the piano – worse), I would indeed be amply interested to hire a good road crew to back up my sentimental but uplifting psychological killer songs. Do you want a copy of “Years of Refusal” in the mail? Wait – isn’t that a bad omen…. namewise? Should I write a new song about that? What do you think?

The Voice Of Reason | 2/14/2009, 7:00 pm EST

Like I said before, get Rob Carlyle from The Compulsions in New York City.

He sings like a rabid junkyard dog and his songs are straight-up classic.

Stones/Aerosmith/Sky nyrd quality.

Enough with this new “style” of so-called “rock” that not enough people like and not enough people buy.

Don’t know who Carlyle is?

Look it up.

That’s what Google is for.

Gavin Rossdale | 2/14/2009, 8:03 pm EST

Velvet Revolver needs a singer? Hey guys, don’t make a final decision yet. Gwen, can I audition? The promotors aren’t sold on that Bush reunion thing.

D | 2/15/2009, 12:47 am EST

erl322, I know they are not literally the ONLY good rock band on earth, but I still think they are one of the few good rock bands that are on the scene right now, so they should get a little more support and maybe the industry would be more supportive of other artists of that style of music. About Coldplay, even if u are a fan, don’t you think there is other artists that deserve more credit than them? They are not the worst, but I don’t think they’re the best either. Not because they’re popular, or because they don’t do drugs, but because if the industry would try promoting different styles of rock, then better artists would emerge. So sure, I exaggerated, but I stand by my point: today’s music scene needs more hard rock, such as VR. I’m not killing the music industry. I pay for the music I listen to just like everyone else, and if the music I like isn’t popular, who cares? I think I have the right to make my own decisions, and buying from less popular artists is really just expanding the industry, if anything. Again, I exaggerated to get my point across, but I don’t think I’m “dead wrong” either. My opinion is as valid as yours, whether u agree with it or not. By the way, I agree that they should have an “unused” singer. That way people won’t make judgements before actually hearing the band.

Jeremy | 2/15/2009, 3:55 am EST

I think that Sebastian Bach, former frontman of Skid Row, would make a great addition to VR.

Jeremy | 2/15/2009, 3:57 am EST

Sebastian Bach is the way to go

nawaf | 2/15/2009, 6:54 am EST

i know this for a fact, VR still have a chance to make it as big as GNR were and still, they need to focus this time on real rock n roll not what that former vocal wanted .. lay of the booze and rock on

ROCKBALLS | 2/15/2009, 9:36 am EST

the poor man’s gnr is looking for a new lead singer???
BIG DEAL!
they suck.
go listen to appetite for destruction or aerosmith rocks for some real rock band greatness!

I’m all in for Clay Aiken dog

Rose/Slash/Duff/Izzy/Adler | 2/15/2009, 3:13 pm EST

Make it easy VR, pick Izzy Stradlin, you already have a history, most of the band is former GnR memebers anyway, this way you have someone fits and that you know you can get along with. If Izzy isnt intrested go with Gilby Clark, another former GnR band mate. If you cant either of those two, then forget it. there is no singer out there that can even compare with Axl.

Jim | 2/15/2009, 3:38 pm EST

Slash should sing himself

Sickboy | 2/15/2009, 5:25 pm EST

Begbie could become your new singer, if Slash or that new guy do not want to. I’m sick of Begbie. He just stole my 18-speed bicycle and sold it off for drugs. I can’t stand that junkie. Please, if you need a nasty frontman, who is able to hit the shit out of your fans if necessary, he’s your man. I still have not seen Renton around, there’s another character.

Arch Stanton | 2/16/2009, 1:33 pm EST

I hear Mike Patton and i want to cancel my subscription….kick duff and slash’s ass….basically go ape shit. Patton is and always was a piece of shit. LOng Live Cobain….

Atomic Seb | 2/16/2009, 1:52 pm EST

I think they should split forever and then we won’t talk about it anymore. Erratic Scott was the piece that tight them up together because he is a great frontman, having a no name in front of an ordinary band will be like when Slash left G’N'R and started his own band.
There is wayyyyyyyy too much hype around a band who won’t turn 2010…

Thornley | 2/16/2009, 4:26 pm EST

Ian Thornley from the band “Thornley” (used to be in Big Wreck) would be an excellent. He’s a highly under rated singer, probably due to being from Canada.
Check out “Easy Comes” or “falling to pieces” by thornley on youtube.

Joe Mama | 2/16/2009, 5:16 pm EST

timmmaayyy | 2/16/2009, 7:11 pm EST

Arch Stanton, you’re an idiot, Mike Patton is great. Maybe not for VR, but then maybe he would be. I never had much interest in VR

sirloin | 2/16/2009, 7:12 pm EST

Problem is Slash feels responsible for Sorum after getting him to leave the Cult. So he takes Sorum’s side against the lead singer who is harder to replace. How many more singers will they go through before realizing Sorum is the problem.

Axl Rose | 2/16/2009, 11:54 pm EST

Alright you guys can come back if you do what I say, stop making mediocre music, and tell Slash to shave his head and keep his mouth shut.

Majsteri Rantaluola | 2/17/2009, 8:06 pm EST

Hello all,
I suppose there may be many of us who have purchased the records of both VR and GnR lately. I have, just to make sure I know whether the “Old Skipper” is faring better than those “Mutineers”! Well he is, hence “Better” making the rounds. I have positioned them pancakes alphabetically in my CD rack, which means that “Chinese” is three notches down from the top (slot) whereas one can find “Libertad” four notches up from the bottom. That seems to be their net value/worth as well compared to each other and other records. So maybe VR totally needs this new singer. Are there others out there who buy from both camps?

Royston Langdon, that’d be awesome

i think the best choice for vr is sebastian bach but unfortunatly he is ruled out because of his frinedship with axl i think jimmy barnes would be good and any yanks out there who dont know who he is look up cold chisel good ol aussie rock i think the alice cooper idea that someone mentioned was a good idea also but he is making awsome music on his on but think about this what if vr got there new singer and then did like a mtv mash up with alice cooper that would be of the hook anyway enuf from me let me know that you guys think

a vr fan | 2/18/2009, 2:25 am EST

Sometimes you have to look outside the box. I think you should look in a third world country. I’m not trying to be a smart ass. I’m just saying you could find an undiscovered talent that would be truly grateful for an opportunity to have a better life. I dont know, just a thought.

I hope this new Velvet Revolver singer can pull of Scott Weiland, he’s tuff to do, but i’am pretty shore this guy will be good, it’s hard to belive its been almost a year now since Weiland split, I hope this guy sounds good and can retrace back to what Velvet Revolver was doing before the split.

It may not suit the metal fans, but there is a really great soulful singer named Rob Lamothe who sang for a band called the Riverdogs back in the day. Love to hear Slash and Duff play with someone who has some soul for a change. Not to mention he has his head screwed on straight and there is something to be said for that.

Slash | 2/18/2009, 8:31 pm EST

Oh man, this new singer it’s so fucking good but..Axl, you’re better, I want to play with you again , please, can i suck your dick if you want

No to Seb and no to Chris Cornell both have lost their vocal talents now as age kicks in. Angel Down was average and Carry On sucked ass (as the yanks would say).

I think the best way would be an unknown. Can’t see an Axl reunion as he’s too busy with his Chinese takeaway and synths….. Who knows!

Wade | 2/25/2009, 8:17 pm EST

I heard the Kevin Jones tracks with VR last night and he sounds amazing they’re crazy if they don’t give him the spot it sounds better than GNR and harder than Weiland – its outta control killer !!

Ha. | 2/26/2009, 9:36 am EST

Axl Rose Can’t sing any more. Chinese democracy sucked. Face it. And also, He made a whole loada shit about Slash and Weiland in the press so do you want a douche like that in a decent band?? no. Also, good luck to those who suggested Izzy Stradlin because he hates life on the road despite the fact he has played on stage with VR in the past. I would like to see Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin. Also whoever put Jimi Hendrix, I’m sorry to inform you but he’s dead.Though that would be fuckin’ awesome.

Damien Saunders | 3/9/2009, 6:09 pm EST

I heard Kevin Jones from Huntington Beach sing his VR track at myspace today it’s incredible it sounds like GNR meets VR ! it’s raw and has a huge hook I love the song Jones wrote – go and listen to it you can tell its a demo but man what a voice

area woman | 3/16/2009, 1:29 pm EST

Kevin Jones is the only serious contender. Come On. Everything else sounds like processed cheese next to him.

another voice | 3/17/2009, 11:36 am EST

I read some of the reviews and heard KJ, and the canadian guy – all i can say is the cdn guy is OK, IF they want to keep the SW type voice. I lost interest in VR when HE was the singer, It’s not my bag, I liked some EARLY STP songs, but really – it doesn’t compliment the musical talent in the band. All the SW fans can back off, I didn’t say he sucked, he is too high pitched I THINK. KJ sounds good, looks good – but after hearing 4 or 5 songs in a row, kinda sounds zzzzzz. He’s a good singer, but feels VERY Ozzy, Sabbath type 80’s rock. Not a bad thing by any means..but will it fly in this day and age??? maybe. I would have loved to try out, but i didn’t follow the VR saga, and I don’t have access to all the digital recording that these guys do. I can honestly say I have an Axl/Hetfield voice and weirdly I can sing like the foo-fighters. Regardless, I think they need to find a “pro” unique voice…Marty Casey had a great voice, and So did the guy who sang “aprodisiac smile”, i forget the band name,(disbanded Canadian group) but that guy had SUCH a great voice – he would be perfect! Just another opinion…don’t bash – Just an opinion…lol

Sally | 3/17/2009, 2:05 pm EST

Its Kevin’s world. We just live in it.

enough with all your aids | 3/18/2009, 12:30 am EST

first of all, you ppl need to stop saying that VR is sayin that they’re getting a new singer because they want press. where would that get them?

Second, STOP SAYING AXL WILL JOIN! THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! USE YOUR BRAINS!!

Also, don’t say someone will join when they will not. Just because a singer is good that does not mean he will work well with VR. VR is going to pick someone who suits their style, not someone who’s good at singing country or something. e.g clay aiken will NEVER sing for velvet revolver.

Last, Don’t tell ppl what to listen to. the only rule is that velvet revolver does not suck. It’s the law

gjjffujbfdsrhui | 3/19/2009, 1:01 am EST

“enough with all your aids” is totally right. People should forget about Axl being in VR or about GNR reuniting Axl made that very clear in recent interview. James Michael from Sixx:AM would be good. I sorta wonder what the band would be like if zakk wylde was singing and playing guitar with them, they would be heavier than before but then again having three guitarists, especially when two normally play lead, could have bad results, in fact Zakk and Slash were going to be together in GNR at one point but according to slash they were both lead players so the sound was “overbearing”.

Plonky | 3/20/2009, 2:01 am EST

I would like to remind you all that strange things happen in rock’n'roll, like Gene Simmons almost replacing Bon Scott in Ac/Dc, and Iggy almost joining Kiss(both of which nearly did happen, Micheal Anthony aka ‘Cannon Mouth’ is clearly the man for the job.

Happy in SW's sphincter | 3/20/2009, 2:06 am EST

Hate to be the one to break it to all you hard rock obsessed retards, but Weilands latest solo venture ‘Happy in Galoshes’ is a quantum leap ahead of anything he ever did with V.R, S.T.P, in fact, the stench of his shit is better than those bands and the smell of his farts are more important than all your insignificant opinions.

ZAKK WYLDE IS A REDNECK AND SINGS LIKE EDDIE VEDDER AND HIS PINCH HARMONICS AND NARROW MINDED AND IMMATURE APPROACH TO DRINKING HAS NO PLACE ANYWHERE NEAR VELVET REVOLVER.

Have a nice day

Dugg McFading | 3/20/2009, 2:19 am EST

Duff should really be fronting this band, then VR could include ‘Believe in me’, ‘Seatlehead’, ‘New Rose’ and most of the other Loaded setlist ‘highlights’.
PS I think Slash just pissed himself he really stinks

Gunner | 3/24/2009, 7:32 pm EST

Kevin Jones is a heavy singer that kicks all these names into the dirt – I have heard the guy sing VR and GNR songs he is the real deal I hope Kevin Jones gets the gig. The song he wrote that VR sent him is on his myspace page and sounds great

James | 3/31/2009, 3:36 pm EST

This Dugg dude is an idiot Slash is the best Blues Based Rock Guitarist in Music today !
And no Duff can’t fill the shoes of Axl or Weiland before him – I listended earler today to Kevin Jones on myspace and this guy can belt !!! Much better for them he has some major pipes

Areawoman | 4/1/2009, 12:33 pm EST

In the end it’s KEVIN JONES, if the end can be assesssed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel lie? It’s like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how – what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what’s topping it, and what’s behind what’s stopping it? So, what’s the end, you know??????

days of destruction | 5/8/2009, 12:19 pm EST

A song written about GnR’s days from their beginnings in Hollywood at Rock N Roll hell on sycamore, to their situation they found themselves in around 2002 at club vodka when for the first time they had played as a band with Shooter Jennings as stand in.
The song although metaphoric in all its twists and turns, speaks of the smashing success of the appetite tour to the ho hum feelings of coming home from that tour and realizing that members had to change. (Adler)
Surviving the grunge movement, the oj trial and what riots and the decline of the sunset strip, did for the movement of grunge.
It embodies Axl’s serpentine movements, and his using the word nigger when his star guitar player Slash’s mother was african descent. No better song has been written about these guys nor do I think they ever really realized what the song meant. There isn’t any other singer out there thats got the genius and presence that this band so desperately needs, the edge has worn off of Rock, and silly putty cartoon comic imprint lyrics keep degrading the very essence of the greats that made Appetite for Destruction the Rock n Roll bible of a Hollywood lifestyle religion,,
Scott although quite the innovative parolier in his days with stone temple, never even came close to writing anything remotely edgy or insightful in his lyrics because his ego has made him jaded towards really looking within himself for edge.
Days of Destruction could have been a song that would have made every single guy formerly of GnR proud in Velvet Revolver, bcuz it had the guts and attitude that put Slash Duff and Axl into the households of the world. Undeniably great were the lyrics and music of GNR’s Appetite…and nothing but nothing could have been or will be the biggest mistake that Matt Duff n Slash over look the presence of the greatness behind the being that wrote the lyrics to Days of Destruction. They had him and they let him go seven years ago, now? They search for someone or something that they already found, the sad part? They just don’t realize he’s right there in his nights of candlelight…no power, no money, no bullshit, just pure rattlesnake skin talent raw and and as expolsive as the possibilties of a meteor the size of Los Angeles hitting the face of this planet, sending a shock wave into the homes of all the fans and leaving a dent in the music worlds mantle that not even a Curt Cobain or Mick Jagger or Axl Rose or who ever we think of when we think of the greats..
the men in VR2 need to go back and scan over what they missed, not search for what is missing. The past is a beginning of a beginninng, and all that they need to do is but the twilight of the dawn…Instinct w/ Intelligence….go back and listen to the song men…and let evolution of greatness once again be yours’

VR FAN | 8/23/2009, 4:52 am EST

Whoever they choose has be a good showman as well as a singer. I don’t care what anyone says, Scott Weiland was a great frontman and I enjoyed watching him perform. Obviously they have to be able to sing but I did enjoy watching Scott and whoever they pick has to be able to hold the audiences attention on stage when they tour. No one wants to see a guy just standing around singing.
