I cannot express how happy I am!!! They used to be my favorite band but I never got to see them live. The Raconteurs then Kings of Leon became my favorite bands, but blink might beat em out…can’t wait for their new record!

So, while I am not a huge fan of blink-182, I am a fan. I’m not going to lie. I listened to them when I was younger, and I still listen to Enema of the State almost every time I make the two and half hour drive to school or back home. I’m excited they’re back. I know they’re not the best band out there…but seriously…think of the music we’ve had the past 5 years. There have been a few good bands…and then there have been Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and shit like that. At least this is something different. Music is going back to the 90’s. And I’m personally glad that there are some familiar faces still in the music world, as opposed to the massive amounts of shit facing the airwaves now.

I read through some of the negative posts below.. I dont see how you guys can hate on these guys so much? ok true, Blink make pretty simplistic poppy music, but that’s the idea! It’s great to listen to! Plus blink put on an incredible live show.. yeah pretty average musically, they more than make up for it by having so much energy and being flippin hilarious!

Over the last ten years or so, there are TONNES of bands who try to mimic what blink started, and no one has even come close to matching it.

weird how a lot of people give them shit about being a “pop punk” band. i guess all of you punkers haven’t heard of screeching weasel, the queers or the descendents along with plenty others. Those guys are well past 30 and still kicking it, and the ones that have broken up the members are continuing in other bands with sam formulas. There’s a difference between pop punk, punk rock, crust punk and hardcore punk. Blink-182 is a legit punk band.

Blink 182 can be funny (First Date, What’s My Age Again?), sad (Stay Together For The Kids, I Miss You) and can even be both (The Rock Show). Their music relates to a lot of people in the simplest of ways. If we’re teenagers we’re doing those things. If we’re all grown up, we reminisce with Blink.

You know what? I’m a fan of Blink 182. I do recognise they’re not the most punk band out there. But what the hell does dismissing a band straight up because of its genre accomplish?

Pop punk – if you wanna call them that – brought us New Found Glory, NoFX (yes, I said they’re Pop Punk, sue me) and Sum 41. Sure, it brought us Simple Plan, but that’s not the point. You can’t dismiss a band because of its genre.

okay for everyone who’s saying ahh man you can’t call them bad cause they’re simple cause the beatles were just as simple and they were great; the beatles used complex scales and stepped out of using major chords and were almost 100% original, blink don’t do and aren’t any of those things. but i would say that most people who don’t like them are either too up-tight to find their sense of humour funny, and probably just listened to the hits (the worst songs) and said ahhh they’re so generic. Listen to apple shampoo, waggy, a new hope and then come back. and to the guy who said everyone just thinks they’re punk cause they have tattoo’s, that wasn’t it at all, they’re think they’re pop/punk because it’s one of the poppier subgenres of punk, including the same chord patterns, some of the production styles and rhythms. pop/punk came out of punk, it isn’t a destroyed form of it. also to the guy who said way are they signed when lots of better bands aren’t? because 1) no one offers the same thing as they do, and 2) blink 182 had to work and work for the first so many years to get noticed and make it happen FOR THEMSELVES, THEN got signed to a major. anyone with that opinion has never been a part of the music scene and doesn’t understand it. Some bands get the magic hand, some don’t.

I loved Blink back when I was a teenager. I do not listen to that kind of music anymore, but I WILL by there new album! Cause the music is simple, easy to listen to and it makes me remember the good ol´days, when no one gave a crap about cred and seriousness! Blink makes me feel as if I was 16 again, rolling down the street on my skateboard, drinking beer by the beach and downloading songs on napster;)

Simply the best new’s i’ve heard so far in 2009. Obama was ok news, and the miricale on hudson was ok also, thank God noone died. But this is probably the greatest news of all time. Blink was one of the first bands i ever listened to, which made me get into this whole rock culture etc. Now im more of an Underoath fan and bands related to that, but blink will still stay on my top five favorite bands, just for the simple fact that they are the people i wanted to be. They influenced alot of the music i wrote back with my old band “Never Downfall” (bet none has heard of us…lol)….but anyways…….cant ait to check them out in concert in the summer….God bless them and their way’s……Fucking Rad blink!!…..keep it going!

blink has always been up front about their sound. even in the early days when they sucked at singing. gradually they grew up and found their voices and became one of the most influential bands of our generation.

Alright for the record yeah Rancid and Strokes are punk but that doesnt mean you have to sound like them to be punk. For example Dropkick antiflag and bouncing souls all sound different and they are all punk… the genre is very broad and is everything that wasnt good enough for mainstream music who proved to the record companies that they were good enough to play and make it big… Blink 182 is punk because they made it big when people said they couldnt… Next point Blink 182 does not sound all the same but if they did would it matter? You find one good song everyone likes why not make 20 more that sound jus like it but different enough you dont get tired of it… thats what the ramones did!
