Massachusetts Cop Reportedly Urinates On Metallica Fan At Concert

It’s not even February yet, but already we’ve found our favorite headline of 2009 in the Cape Cod Times: “Brewster Cop Accused of Urinating on Metallica Fan.” That’s the story from Metallica’s January 18th concert in Boston, where an off-duty police officer named Joseph Houston capped off an evening of drunken antics and trespassing by allegedly pissing on a fellow concert-goer. After being asked to leave the concert because he was drunk, Houston flashed his badge in an attempt to get back into Boston’s TD Banknorth Garden. In what was probably not the brightest of moves, Houston also reportedly called a black Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority officer “Obama.”

And then there’s the whole urination thing. The Cape Cod Times doesn’t elaborate on the details, but we’re assuming it went down like this: An obviously drunk Houston really had to go to the bathroom, but rather than miss even one note of “All Nightmare Long,” he reasoned that the appropriate thing to do was to use the poor guy standing in front of him as his own private urinal. Whatever happened, Houston was booted from the venue by 10 p.m., well before Metallica were finished performing, so maybe actually running to use the restroom would have been the better move.

Houston has since been placed on paid administrative leave while all the details of that wild night get worked out. If urinating on someone warrants “paid administrative leave,” we’re really curious what someone has to do to get “unpaid administrative leave.” Houston is due in a Boston court on February 5th to face charges of trespassing. Houston could face more charges if the person he pissed on decides to file additional charges.

Metallica Has been using fans as a public toilet alot longer than this guy.

They are being inducted in the rock hall of fame and then with any luck solo albums and breakup of this has been faux metal band Metallica who stop
Being relevant in 1989.

I thought Jethro Tull deserved
the Grammy. Crest of Knave is
far superior to the The pop album called
The black album. I saw both bands Black album tour and Crest of Knave tour Jethro Tull was better
and Lars Ulrich does not and never has had the drum chops to play with the caliber of Jethro Tull sad but true .
Blackened was the end and hopefully
death magnetic is a Farewell tour. and they can just keep making money on guitar hero games .
and other toys maybe Metallica

Swingline | 1/27/2009, 2:27 pm EST

Tool is about as far from Metallica as you can be in the spectrum of Metal. That’s like comparing King Crimson to AC/DC when there’s no need to.
As for Rage, suiting up for a reunion tour with nothing new to sing about except their re-cap of the Clinton years shows the only thing they own at this moment are memories. Still can’t understand how that group can’t generate something new when the machine they raged about 10 years ago is now one big bag of crumbling shit.
Have not agreed with every step Metallica has made along the way, but Death Magnetic is a great return to the genre they helped pioneer.

Metalica posers and sellouts | 1/27/2009, 2:29 pm EST

Pee Wee Houston (haven’t heard that before this) is not only a public fool he’s a great officer too. He showed up for a noise complaint at my house 5 minutes after the ambulance left with a family member who fell and broke their jaw. Hey Koch and Pee Wee, do ya think that might be NOISY ?

Anonymous witness | 1/27/2009, 6:51 pm EST

He spilled his beer on the dude in front of him and got punched out for it! It was not piss! The press loves to spin a story and the public always buys the lie!

Matt | 1/27/2009, 6:55 pm EST

Nice !

realist | 1/27/2009, 8:28 pm EST

lol @ all the losers who think Metallica is irrelevant (having your latest album #1 in 34 countries means its irrelevant?) or “sold out” because they became popular…..Did they release some pop rock albums that aren’t as good as their capability or 80s catalog? Yes…….Is Death Magnetic a return to their 80s thrash roots? Yes. Give it a try and stop pretending that “modern metal” holds a candle to anything Metallica has done or continues to do…That is unless you enjoy indiscernable screaming instead of lyrics and sloppy uninspired guitar riffs that are nothing other than really fast.

Hey realist | 1/27/2009, 9:23 pm EST

Why doesn’t anybody piss on Lil Wayne? He deserves to be pissed on.

TypicalStuff | 1/28/2009, 5:21 am EST

Seems typical a cop thinks he can do whatever he wants. I would have done a citizens arrest on him once he flashed the badge. He is obviously drunk in public and a danger to himself and others. Maybe he should get a psychiatric eval? That would have taken him down a few pegs.

kelly craig.J. | 1/28/2009, 6:39 am EST

The Fearless are the new Metallica , the new Beatles , the new Rock Revolution.PLEASE is the Best song of all times

We all make mistakes and we all have been cocked too. Give the guy a break he has a family to feed. Be right back I gotta take a leak!

Keith | 1/28/2009, 11:28 am EST

AHHH Much better. Really though, I think this guy is a professional when he’s on duty and should take this as a lesson. His fellow officers will be busting his balls pretty hard don’t you think?

Mitch | 1/28/2009, 4:18 pm EST

I feel bad for the dude’s family. It was a stupid thing to do but he probably going to get bounced from the force as a result.

RIPCliff | 1/28/2009, 4:36 pm EST

As the quality of the band’s music goes down, so does the quality of fans. 80s were golden age of Metallica, 90’s were the mullet age, and the new millinium heralds in a racist urinating low IQ macho cop. Is anyone surprised by this? Really?

WITNESS | 1/28/2009, 6:20 pm EST

There was no urine at all!!!, it was a friggin beer that got spilled and as a side note Metallica was unbelievable! great show! great album!

Another Witness :{ | 1/28/2009, 7:14 pm EST

I was half asleep thanks to earplugs
when the beer was spilled :)

Thank god this Fine officer did the
right thing to protect another citizen from the noise and mayhem and got
me outta that horrible concert.

I am a metal fan from wayback
saw black sabbath with Ozzy
paranoid til never say die Tours
before they broke up:(
and these Hacks don’t come close
Magnetic? I was repelled from the
first note of metallica.
Thanks to this officer for doing
a fine job of protect and to serve.
Justice was served:)

cperiou2 | 1/30/2009, 12:18 am EST

I think its completely irresponsible to base your entire opinion of the police force on a single article found on Rolling Stone. Truthfully, how can you be certain that the man was really urinated on? It seems more likely that after having a beer spilled all over him, a drunk man became angry and accused the police officer of urinating on him. In any case, should the fact that this man is an officer be a factor in this article? At the time, the officer was off-duty, enjoying his time at a concert. The idea that instead of going to the bathroom he decided to urinate right where he stood seems like a ridiculous assumption to make in the first place.
