With his new, five-star album Working on a Dream hitting stores right now, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band decided today would be the best time to reveal their upcoming U.S. tour. The trek will kick off on April Fool’s Day in San Jose, California, and work its way east, culminating in a pair of shows at East Rutherford’s Izod Center in Bruce’s home state of New Jersey on May 21st and 23rd. From there, the band jets off to Europe.

Springsteen is on the cover of the current issue of Rolling Stone, wherein the Jersey legend invites writer David Fricke into the studio to talk about his new music, the first song he ever recorded and life with the E Street Band. For the full story, pick up the issue, but check out a special series of Q&As, too — The Band on Bruce: a series of interviews with members of the E Street Band including Max Weinberg and Little Steven Van Zandt. Is Ticketmaster the best bet to get tickets? Bruce is slated to come to University Park, PA for the first time in forever, but I’m wondering about how tough tickets might be to get.

Bruce, loved you in Montreal last March…best moments of my year (in a bad, bad year) besides Obama’s win…don’t forget Montreal, OK? Love you and E Street since 1975!!

PS, can u give us a break on ticket prices???

Bob Rooter | 1/27/2009, 6:21 pm EST

Has this band EVER heard of a state called Oregon???

Shay1482 | 1/27/2009, 7:08 pm EST

PSU… I used ticketmaster online for Richmond last year, and needed 4 seats.. they went pretty quick, tried 3 times and got seats further away from the stage…each try. I’m contemplating between Charlottesville, and University Park.. live close to DC and Im not sure the Verizon center wont be too big… University seats 15k, tickets are advertised for 43, 71 and 102 … Charlottesville hasnt listed their prices yet.. they seat 16k….hows the acoustics in University Park ? I was spoiled by the Cap Center near DC… he used to sell out 5 shows everytime… back in the day. Either way I plan on going to the window this time to get tickets.. no online !!

nathan | 1/27/2009, 7:22 pm EST

Ummm… Bruce, is it too much to ask that you come to Detroit? It would mean so much… I know, I know, we ALL want you to come to town everywhere. But c’mon, man… DETROIT!

timeandmoney | 1/28/2009, 2:02 am EST

The Boss and the band back on the road one more time…the album is good, and the shows are going to be legendary. Everyone complaining about prices, R U kidding me? To see the Boss is cheap if you can get tix at the box office or offline if you can get through…the overpriced tix are the ones that go up on websites. Quit complaining…if you don’t like him, then don’t go, about where he’s touring…he’s the boss, who knows where he’ll wind up next

The Boss dominates down Oz too and its been way too long!

Blue | 1/28/2009, 8:50 am EST

There’s the real reason for that embarrassingly dumb record: $$big money tour$$ !!!
Time is running out on what’s left of the E Street Band ( is Clarence going to get off his chair at all this time around ? ) and opportunities to cash in on anything ‘E Street Band’ (see Walmart for details) are now few.
Nothing like an all-out whoring ( see Obama for details ) culminating with a proud Superbowl exposure so the masses might get tempted to shell out 100$ to hear live versions of ‘Surprise, Surprise” or ” Outlaw Pete” …
Thank God WOAD is a ” five-star ” album !!!

JO JO GUNNE | 1/28/2009, 10:39 am EST

Dear Mr. Springsteen,
Please stay away–stay very far away–from the Coachella Music Festival this year. Thank you very much. Sincerely, JO GUNNE & DR. HOOK

RooDee | 1/28/2009, 10:46 am EST

Of course it was a “five-star album”…it is in Rolling Stone’s bylaws that they can never say a negative word about Bruce!

OH | 1/28/2009, 2:33 pm EST

Bruce (pre-election): Thank you, Ohio! I love you!
Ohio: See ya’ in four years.

harpo | 1/28/2009, 2:44 pm EST

LUV YA LUV YA LUV YA!!!
Great new CD – will see you both in Philly and NJ!!! Woo Hoo – You and the band have MADE MY YEAR!!!

brucefan | 1/28/2009, 5:32 pm EST

Anybody who thinks that springsteen charges to much you are retarded. Have you seen how much, the Stones, U2 and other big bands charge. Springsteen is cheap compared to them…..and if you hate springsteen so much then why are you coming hear and reading about him…no wonder americas economy is in the crapper who don’t know how to spend your time…f**king idiots.

Dr. Mabuse | 1/29/2009, 12:44 pm EST

Five-star album? Only in Rolling Stone.

I’ve liked Springsteen since 1973, but this album is his worst yet. Queen of the Supermarket? Awful. This Life? Sounds like the Partridge Family produced by Phil Spector. And like Magic, the CD sounds like it was recorded in a tin can.

There are a few good songs, but this album isn’t worth five stars.

Slugger O'Toole | 1/29/2009, 4:11 pm EST

This album sucks. Somebody needs to tell Bruce that Brendan O’Brien is a talentless hack.

adam | 1/29/2009, 4:45 pm EST

5 stars? Come on, dont be so blind, this album is way bellow average.

mike | 1/29/2009, 7:17 pm EST

hey
it is the man Bruce with another album. great job.
good music and writing as always.

nickjB in NZ | 1/29/2009, 11:45 pm EST

Personally I like it-the new album that is, its straight Springsteen, its honest rock n roll, I don’t expect anything more from the Boss, I have every album he has ever produced!

BillyMc | 1/30/2009, 6:59 am EST

Love him and the music. New CD, not so much. The tour? Probably won’t go. Just a bit tired of you, dude. Don’t worry, Ohio, the Northwest… He’ll catch you guys later this summer. And us (Northeast) again, outdoors! Lately, he’s kinda reminding me of Brett Favre!

MANGO | 1/30/2009, 1:43 pm EST

ALERT!!! ALERT!!!! Appears brucefan has OD’D on Kool-Aid….need to wean him off Bruce for awhile. Try some true rockers like AC-DC or Tom Petty!!!

STAT!! STAT!!! KOOL-AID overdose in progres!!!! Roger Wilco!!!!

scojoe | 1/30/2009, 4:32 pm EST

Bruce has always been a favorite of mine, however since his “need” to be involved in the political spectrum is so apparant these days, I find myself losing interest. Bruce should stick to what he does best.(performing!)..and the new album is just ok, but is not even close to a perfect 5 star rating-I’m surprised at you Rolling Stone!!!!

Jeremy Johnson | 1/30/2009, 6:35 pm EST

I am surprised to see so many readers hating on the new album. “Working on A Dream” is a great record. “Queen of the Supermarket” is some of the best singing yet from The Boss. For those of you still sitting in your Camaro waiting for another “Darkness On the Edge of Town,” it ain’t happening. Five starts? Probably not. Great album? You bet.

Trip | 1/30/2009, 6:44 pm EST

well look at that…”so-called” working class hero is admitting he was wrong to have walmart as a sponsor…now he’s trying to apologize for it and still wants you to buy his album. what a joke…i hope this recession kicks your mansion in the ass.
sell out…fraud…it’s a crime “your” doing the super bowl….duh..what’s football?

madmilker | 1/30/2009, 6:44 pm EST

one star goes with tat star above the door 5 & 10 cent store….

Trip | 1/30/2009, 6:48 pm EST

ps i’m tired of rolling stone granting anything that this guy makes a five star event…springsteen must have something on the critics or they grandfathered in that everything he makes has to be a top rate.
it’s like reading the nytimes…it’s one sided.

Quib9256 | 1/31/2009, 4:21 pm EST

Buffalo or Rochester in the Fall????
