- We were all over Washington, DC for this week’s historic inauguration. The party kicked off with Springsteen and U2 rocking outside the Lincoln Memorial, then the Obamas danced to Beyoncé. There was the Beastie Boys’ Rock the Vote concert and even Eddie Vedder had his own inaugural ball in Seattle. Plus, Obama will get to keep the music going with his White House record collection.
- Speaking of that Springsteen dude, the E Street legend was on the cover of Rolling Stone, with writer David Fricke talking with Bruce about his new, five-star album Working on a Dream. - Also, Springsteen got snubbed by this year’s Oscar nominations. Peter Travers lashed out at the Academy for poor Oscar picks while M.I.A. celebrated her Slumdog nod. Heath Ledger got a Best Supporting Actor nom for playing the Joker, and we celebrated Ledger’s life on the first anniversary of his death.
- All the freaks came out of the woodwork when we explored the story behind our new profile of Artie Lange, which documented the “Howard Stern Show” comedian’s struggles with heroin. In better comedy news: The State reunites this weekend!
- Bono and Co. started off the week with a bang when U2 premiered “Get On Your Boots”, the first single from their upcoming album No Line on the Horizon.
