Sneak Peek: “Guitar Hero: Metallica” Offers Deep Cuts and Lifelike Band, But No Cliff Burton

1/22/09, 12:31 pm EST

There is a video clip in Guitar Hero: Metallica of Lars Ulrich performing on a silent drum set while covered in motion-capture equipment. He’s playing a song Metallica haven’t played in more than a decade, and he can’t get the timing right. After a handful of takes, he finally makes it through, and collapses in a heap on the floor. “I’m sorry for all the bad things I’ve done in my life,” he moans.

Now gamers can feel Lars’ pain as the Metallica-themed version of the juggernaut Guitar Hero franchise hits stores March 29th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles (Wii and PS2 versions will follow later in the spring). In a storyline concocted by frontman James Hetfield, players begin as Metallica’s opening act, and eventually play as Metallica once they prove their mettle.

Everything about the game, from the menu animations based on art by Pushead, Metallica’s long-running collaborating artist, to venues and stage sets from all phases of the band’s career to signature lighting effects and crowd chants will be familiar to fans. The motion-capture used to animate the band is strikingly lifelike, as all of the signature moves are there: the contemplative Hetfield during the opening of “The Unforgiven,” the preening Ulrich hopping up from behind his kit to be seen after every song, and bassist Rob Trujillo’s crabwalk and spins.

The members all initially appear as their modern-day selves, but there will be unlockable character skins that hearken back to earlier eras. Although no past members are in the game (there go fantasies for a Cliff Burton cameo — the band feared his inclusion may have felt like a slight to Trujillo), a few of Metallica’s heroes make appearances.

The full track list for the game will be released next week (update: here it is), and Neversoft employees admit that the list of songs which has been announced so far was a bit of a tease — a list heavy on material from the band’s self-titled album and onward (”King Nothing,” “Fuel,” “No Leaf Clover,” etc.) — but fans of the early days will get a kick out of the remaining tracks, which include a few deep cuts and covers that the band has very rarely performed.

The gameplay remains true to previous incarnations of the franchise, allowing players to perform vocals, guitar, bass and drum parts, with the main addition being a new skill level, dubbed “expert-plus,” which requires an additional kick-drum pedal for double-bass on some of the band’s thrashier songs. When the lead developer of the game fails out at 24 percent of the way through a song and calls another “totally impossible,” it’s safe to say that this is the most demanding any rhythm-based game has made itself so far.

However, one drawback is that although Hetfield and Kirk Hammett are one of hard rock’s most celebrated guitar duos — and the game is called Guitar Hero — there is no option to choose between lead or rhythm guitar, limiting players to only one guitarist per band, and not allowing any Hetfield/Hammett riff-trading. If fans at home figuring out the guitar tablature to post online can do it for free, why couldn’t a wildly successful game franchise trying to create “the ultimate Metallica experience” pull it off?

The game disc also comes with bonus features, including live videos from special performances and footage of the band making its contributions to the game, as well as early images, set lists and miscellanea from the band’s career. In addition, the track list will not feature solely Metallica tunes, but also songs from the band’s friends and influences, such as Alice in Chains, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lars’ new favorite band and current Metallica tour opener, the Sword. Sadly, the game was completed before a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony stage could be included.

We’ll see how this goes…I hope it’’s not a waste Like GH: Aerosmith. I already don’t like that their cant be 2 guitars

You don’t prove your “meddle,” you prove your “mettle.” And that typo cost you an opportunity to make the world’s most obvious pun!

Him | 1/22/2009, 3:22 pm EST

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. I never did like the idea of games based on one band, even if they were a good one, simply because there would be no variety in the songs, and if it has other artists in it, it’s not being what it says it is. There are only going to be 25 Metallica songs, which means that nearly half the game won’t even be Metallica. On top of that, Metallica is considered (not my opinion) the greatesst rock band due to their extremely well-selling albums, so doing another Guitar Hero: (insert band name here) afterward would seem a bit like a stepdown in the series. Honestly, I would give it a rental, and it would have to do something spectacular to even consider buying and something Christ-like to change my look at the entire series ever since Guitar Hero 3.

Mark | 1/22/2009, 4:45 pm EST

all i want to know is if the song “Metal Militia” is in because that’s the reason I’m buying this game

Chris | 1/22/2009, 5:24 pm EST

If they do not put Whiplash I’m gonna kick Activision in the face

Nathan Lindsay | 1/22/2009, 5:58 pm EST

Hopfully GH:Metallica hopefully will be much better than GH:Aerosmith. I personally hope song on albums like the Black Album,Load,Re-load even more recent stuff like Death Magnetic should be on there. They could even add some live stuff from like S and M or live S***:Binge and Purge. And because GH:Metallica has Drums and singing it should more enjoyable with songs like One and Frantic!! The microphone will be fun with songs like Fuel with its quick vocal solos…!

Dean Lindsay | 1/22/2009, 6:03 pm EST

THE UNFORGIVEN BETTER BE ON THERE OR I’LL CRY AND SUE ACTIVISION…OH I LOVE WORLD TOUR!!

Joe | 1/22/2009, 6:09 pm EST

Not having dual guitars is just ridiculous. I’m a huge Metallica and guitar hero fan, but that fact alone may keep me from buying this game.

There’s no reason why they can’t allow lead, rhythm, bass, and drums. I understand only being able to use three of them (plus vocals) at a time, but at least include the option of accurately replicating the two-headed guitar monster that is Metallica. Epic fail on Neversoft’s part. They’re supposedly fans of Metallica too. Just terrible…

Nathan Lindsay | 1/22/2009, 6:15 pm EST

I hope song on the black albums, load, reload and more recent stuff like Death Magnetic and St.Anger will be on there. They should have live stuff from like S and M
and Live S***:Binge and Purge should be on there as well. And having the drums should be fun on songs like One, Blackened and Frantic! And having the microphone ability will be fun on songs lik Fuel with the quick vocal solo’s. And everyone love Kirk’s WAH FAROUT guitar solo’s.

Very good article, next week will see the full track list. I cant wait to play ”For Whom The Bell Tolls”.

STFU | 1/22/2009, 8:00 pm EST

Wow Metallica always finds new ways to sell out. People who play this game are posers

Stop. | 1/22/2009, 11:53 pm EST

People get this excited for video games? Alright geek squad, along with guitar hero, also get:

A) a life
B) a real guitar
C) a job
D) laid.

Fucking embarrassing.

Anonymous | 1/23/2009, 12:06 am EST

You mean Metallica is trying to do something for their fans so they can enjoy their songs from a new dimension? OMGZHAX SELLOUTZ!!!

Nick | 1/23/2009, 12:17 am EST

Im not sure what to say… I really love MetallicA, they are just such a good band and so innovative and outspoken… But when I heard about guitar hero metallica i was at first very excired, but then finding out that there was only about 25 MetallicA songs and that there is NO CHOICE TO PLAY RYTHM??? I mean what is up with that? Really sure most people want to jam and play lead, but sometimes its cool just to lay back and play some rythm for a change.

All in all, although guitar hero mettallica is an “epic phail”, I heap most of the blame on the crappy producers. Also, I mean cmon James and Lars have already spent all thier brains on their indisputibly awesome music.

– LONG LIVE METALLICA

screw the haters | 1/23/2009, 12:24 am EST

Metallica may not be the loudest or hardest metal band out there, but they sure as hell are THE BEST! For all you money-hungry “kids” I’ll call you, for calling them “Sell-Outs” I SAY DAMN RIGHT, MAKING THAT $$$ BABY!!! What’s wrong with making more money??? Don’t we all want it? Please, stfu and don’t post if you don’t like Metallica or are STILL pissed about the Napster thing. I dunno about you, but I’ve found better ways of downloading music, movies, etc… AFTER Napster shut down, so I guess we should thank Metallica. Oh of course no one speaks about Dr. Dre’s involvement with the lawsuit, and another dozen artist that were right behind Lars the whole way. Anyway, GH METALLICA WILL ROCK!!!!!

Godzirra Chino | 1/23/2009, 2:20 am EST

Chit gonna rawk!

filip | 1/23/2009, 3:02 am EST

where i can find that video about lars?

Eric | 1/23/2009, 7:39 am EST

Wow…no Cliff. Unreal. Probably because the 12 year olds and/or posers who will be playing this game don’t even know who Cliff Burton is.

Matt | 1/23/2009, 7:52 am EST

I don’t understand why some ppl would come in here just to bash this game and the band. Metallica is a great metal band and even with the inability to play solely rhythm or lead guitar the game is going to be awesome.

Also, I love how the first comment under this article assumes they didn’t put Cliff in b/c “posers” wouldn’t know who he was. If you had actually read the article you’d see that they didn’t want to slight Rob by putting in former bass players (which means no Jason either), it’s as simple as that.

LH | 1/23/2009, 9:05 am EST

That is going to be so cool! I will start playing Guitar Hero due to this edition. To have some friends over and a few beers…. can´t wait.

Metallica leave cliff out ? | 1/23/2009, 9:34 am EST

Cliff was my favorite member of
metallica the graphics would have
been awesome nobody could headbang like cliff hair flailing spit flying
bass playing virtuoso .
I guess its true metallica cannot doing anything right anymore
our standards are so low that we actually think death magnetic
lives up to master of puppets or
anything before the black album
when they sold there souls to mtv.
Cliff burton is the man if they leave cliff out leave me out as well robert trujillo is a scab bass player who took part in
lynching blizzard of ozz and diary
of a madman replacing bob daisley’s
bass work with his subpar performance
Maybe if jimmy page gets in a
dispute with robert plant he
should erase his vocals and replace
them with david coverdale .

No Cliff No buy .

Cliff Burton R.I.P

Major Rager On The Four String
Motherf****R

Sad State affairs the metallica money machine rolls on.

I wonder how many paintings Lars
will buy with this payday ??

Metallica Great News | 1/23/2009, 9:45 am EST

This is going to rock.
I have been giving lessons on guitar
hero and rock band for a year now.
And my students really are getting good at pressing buttons on these plastic guitars . I tried to learn how to play real guitar years ago but gave up in frustration . Now with guitar hero and Rock band,
I Am the the musician I have always wanted to be,
I also teach drums on guitar hero and rock band when I go into guitar center and see people trying to play real instruments
I shake my head in disbelief and
advise them to give it up and join my music school This game has opened a new world for me being a failed musician. I cannot play a note on a real instrument But on these games I’m better than Jimi Hendrix ,John Bonham , Etc.

Long Live Guitar Hero and Rock Band

BTW
I am not excepting any new students at this time
I’m overbooked :)

STFU | Eric | 1/23/2009, 10:04 am EST

Posers… aw to be young again & throw this word around with venomous anger and undying devotion to “true metal”. If somebody doesn’t know about Cliff = poser. Like ‘Black Album’ = poser. Will enjoy a video game = poser. I’m probably the oldest loser posting on this article and I was too young to remember Cliff’s passing. My assumption is that most of you are too young to remember the release of Metallica’s 5th album (more than half weren’t even born yet), but will argue that the band sold out in ‘91 – like you were there in when Metallica opened for Saxon at the Whisky in ‘81. Don’t get me wrong, I did the same thing when I was a kid; even went so far as bashing them for their unsuccessful attempt to recruit John Bush as leader singer prior to RTL. I read this article for the same reason all of you did, especially the ones that took the time to leave negative comments, I love the band and cannot wait for this to be released!!!

When METALLICA’S – KILL ‘EM ALL, was released overseas on the label

DISS | 1/23/2009, 10:38 am EST

When METALLICA released KILL ‘EM ALL on vinyl on the MUSIC FOR NATIONS label overseas in 1983 – a local import shop called TRACK RECORDS on GRANVILLE street in VANCOUVER B.C. received some and the local radio station called CFOX FM had a show called THE IMPORT HOUR. The DJ played one side of the not yet released to the public LP and said it would be available at 9:00 am at TRACK RECORDS. I FELT MY SKULL BEING RIPPED OFF LITERALLY AT WHAT I HEARD ON CFOX. I was the first person to buy the FIRST METALLICA LP at TRACK RECORDS. I then proceeded to take my GOODIE with me to a high end stereo store on SEYMOUR street – it was 2 doors up from A&B SOUND (i can’t remember the store name ). I showed the salesman my new KILL EM ALL and he freaked out, all of a sudden the WHOLE STORE WANTED TO HEAR IT ! I let him play side one on a high end turntable system and it BLEW EVERYONE AWAY ! WHAT A GREAT MEMORY ! I can’t wait to jam along to KILL ‘EM ALL 26 years later on my PS2 with my GENE SIMMONS AXE BASS & my black AEROSMITH KRAMER – YAHOOOOOO !!!. Don’t forget the game also includes the mighty SLAYER!!! DON’T DISS WITH METAL !

Metallica I was there | 1/23/2009, 2:00 pm EST

Hello,

I was there when metallica was
an unknown band the first time
that I heard them was the no life til leather pre Kill’em all.
thought it was a little rough but had potential Then I bought ride the lightning on vinyl when it came out
Was bowled over and told anyone that would listen that this band
was going to be fucking huge but
nobody seemed to care then I tried to see them live in a now closed club in boston mass, called the channel but lars got stuck at logan airport and they didn’t play
they were opening for wasp with armored saint also on the bill , Finally got to see them open for ozzy on the master of puppets tour with cliff burton
and again I was blown away.
sadly cliff died a few months
later but what tour that was amazing
went again to see them on and justice for all another amazing
show and tour great album.
Then the black album came out
produced by bob rock who had
just finished working with
motley crue on Dr. Feelgod
who metallica always called
posers wich was the name for
any glam rock band at the time
and now here we are it’s 2009
Metallica is being inducted
into the Rock and Roll hall of
Fame.
And I truly believe that if in 1986 you told these guys that
they would be part of a video game with plastic button guitars they would say not in a million years
this was a band at the time would
not make a music video One being there first So from looking at thru the years if metallica was
told about themselves back in 1986 they would called themselves sell-out posers :)

Keep out Cliff Burton | 1/23/2009, 2:22 pm EST

We Don’t wantto hurt Rob Trujillo’s
feelings. then we’ll be left with
threat of some kind of monster
part two and nobody wants that.
So lets just forget Cliff Burton
altogether and Jason Newsted as
well.
Because we don’t want to upset
Rob Trujillo the guy who angered
The Ozzy fans when they bought the
Remastered blizzard of ozz and Diary
of a madman With deleted rythm section of Bob daisley and lee kerslake If Ozzy puts out a
guitar hero He better leave out
Jake E. Lee And also Randy Rhoads we wouldn’t want to upset
Zakk Wylde

BORING.

the song they had as d/l for rock band (trapped under ice was it?) was terrible. The mix was so shitty that someone who didn’t know the song could not have enjoyed it.

Sell it by albums. Black album songs and after can be in the discount bin.

and one guitar only? yeah, sounds just like the real thing :ROLLFUKCINEYES

who gives a shit what new guitar hero is coming out. i keep waiting for them to throw some strings on the sucker and make it at least somewhat real. i’ll never understand how pushing plastic buttons can give people such a thrill.

Paul | 1/23/2009, 4:58 pm EST

I’m 12 years old and no offence to people who thought kids did not know who cliff Burton was but anyway i’m a big Metallica fan. I was not born during there early work and all that but ever since GH:3, Metallica has become my idol. Ive read every part of there lives as Metallica in every news article I could find and you know what Cliff Burton was there best bassist ever and to find out that he wont be immortalized in a video game with the rest of his band members makes me sad. I think that by putting him in there it will introduce kids to one of the best F***ing bassists out there. They should so put him in there. So anyone who says that kids who like Metallica aren’t true fans because they don’t know who cliff is, is wrong because i’m a kid and I know who he is and what hes done.

Kurtcobain628 | 1/23/2009, 5:47 pm EST

Metallica is getting inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame so they can’t be posers at least they are in the rock and roll hall of fame not like fucking fall out boy or dochebags lifehouse and parafuckingmore they are not rock. metallica nirvana led zepplin ac/dc guns n’ roses and black sabbath are definetly not posers but rock gods!!!!!!!

1. listen to more Iron Maiden or Judas Priest

2. listen to More Than Meets the Eye by Testament

and 3. Just listen to some more thrash metal

not to say metallica sucks BUT boy was Death Magnetic a disappointment (and the rest of there new shit)

the best metal artist ever was Pat Boone. period. his one album contribution to the genre eclipses the entire discography of iron and maiden and judas preist put together.

iron maiden should be renamed iron pat boone, just out of principle. judas priest should be renamed pat boone’s priest for the same reason.

God, you’re all idiots for arguing over whether a video game is better than a real guitar and visa-virsa.
Seriously, just let the people who will enjoy the game enjoy the game, the people who won’t just stay the hell away from it and leave the others alone. It’s a great way to get their music our to the younger generation who have never heard of them. Take it from someone who plays real guitar first and then saw Guitar Hero and thought it’s great for people who maybe don’t have the time to sit down and get good at an instrument and love to have that dream that you ARE in fact, a rock star. So next time, before you put people down for liking something you think is “gay” or “for posers” make sure you know your shit and most importantly RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINION!

And to think, I once loved these guys.

Metallica Fan | 1/27/2009, 11:37 am EST

If you have ever seen Lars play the drums or attempted to play the drum part for most Metallica songs you too would be covered in sweat and gasping for air. Yes their new stuff wasn’t the greatest but it’s still a lot better than what a lot of other bands are putting out now. Iron maiden is good and does deserve their own guitar hero, Maybe someday.

If you have ever seen Lars play the drums ?
Yes I have and many others and
Lars is not even close as a metal

These guys are all better than pop star lars.

Why is everyone so against these games? They’re games, just don’t play them if you don’t like them.

Mike | 1/28/2009, 9:31 pm EST

You know i was really looking forawrd to this for more then one reason 1. Metallica’s been my favorite band for years, 2. I love Guitar Hero, 3. The Other artist like slayer and Judas priest, and expert plus will kickass then we all get shot with the cliff accident…

You know i can understand Jason (even though hes my fav of the 3), but cliff!?! come on metallica “we didnt want it to slight Trujillo, yea well your slighting us, and since these are masters guess what? Trujillo is playing cliff tricks and Jason tracks, only 2 of those tracks are rightfully his, and they try to get us off with the “old skins” thing, well when theres 19 year old metallica playing with Rob Trujillo, i’m only going to be more ashamed, i refuse to buy this, not because i hate metallica but because they had the audacity to say that trujillo means more to them then to at least let cliff be on his own goddamn songs

Nice | 1/29/2009, 4:13 am EST

Okay, so all of a sudden, people who play video games don’t have a life? Jeez. It’s a shame you waste your time posting comments like that, because people really don’t listen ;) .

As for the game, it looks good. I’m not a great fan of their music, but I’m sure it’ll be good to play. Personally, I’d prefer an Iron Maiden one. But that’s just me.

DIAMOND DAVE | 1/29/2009, 8:10 pm EST

yo, this looks awesome.. but you have to check out the VAN HALEN ASTEROIDS thats free on the internet. Search for it… AMAZING! NO JOKE.

All bands should have games!

Sniper1 | 1/30/2009, 10:26 am EST

God bless andy! iron maiden and judas priest are all good bands but they don’t have enough songs i think they should make a gh metal with pantera iron maiden disturbed system of a down metallica nirvana aerosmith ted nugent acdc motorhead black sabbath velvet revolver guns n’ roses korn metal church megadeth some classic rock oh and metallica is the best band eeeevvvveeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Sniper1 | 1/30/2009, 10:28 am EST

metallica is awesome snd if you don’t like guitar hero than fuck off people can make more money than you have ever seen

d | 1/30/2009, 7:17 pm EST

Cliff was a founding member, Kirk wasn’t.

d | 1/30/2009, 7:30 pm EST

Looking through Metallca’s eyes in ‘88 which was my first of many Metallica shows they would have looked at themselves as sellouts. But how things looked in ‘88 are quite different now and I am looking forward to the game. I don’t believe I’ve sold out, I’ve just evolved with the times.

Pjcub | 2/8/2009, 8:10 pm EST

I hope they put some good songs on it.

Stevo- | 2/19/2009, 6:46 pm EST

Listen up ass jockeys if you don’t like guitar hero then just piss off and play with your stupid amps and break your goddamn strings you stupid fucking ignorant dumbass whiny bitches.

metal | 2/20/2009, 6:51 am EST

the only reason to buy this is the chance to actually along with metal bands……eh…not metallica, they are just a rock band, they haven’t been metal since ‘justice’. at least they included mercyful fate (evil), slayer (war ensamble)….that’s metal.

'Tallica Kicks Ass | 2/20/2009, 5:53 pm EST

I got sumthin’ to say to Eric, (about 19 or 20 posts up) I am only 13, but let me tell ya, I know who Cliff Burton was, he was the damn Bass player to walk the stage with Metallica, but you know what?, Cliff’s gone, Jason’s gone and guess who’s there now? Rob, and he’ll be there for a long time yet, and yeah, maybe Cliff should’ve been included in the game, but Rob Trujillo is Metallica’s Bass player NOW, and he has every right to be in every song of that game.

And yes of I’ll friggin’ buy this game.

And I hate people who say “No Cliff, No Buy” It’s bloody stupid

Ryan | 2/21/2009, 1:23 pm EST

Cant wait for it to come out, but I would like to know it guitar hero metallica’s hammer ons will be like Guitar hero: areosmith were you would almost have to hit hammers ons perfectly, or like guitar hero 3. I think they should be like guitar hero 3’s because gh: metallica will probably be a more difficult game… Metallica rules

Ryan | 2/21/2009, 1:55 pm EST

honestly, I think the game should just have every song from their first four albums. Metallica defidently peaked after “and justice”. I don’t have a problem with their newer music (exeption of ” st. Anger”), but I think people would agree that their first 4 albums were the most influential. Why are they putting on trash like frantic when they don’t even have Ride the Lightning, Blackend or The Four Horseman

JJ | 3/8/2009, 1:49 pm EST

Maybe they should just include Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney while they’re at it – or would that be “slighting” James and Kirk? Any true Metallica fan would and should be P.O.’d over this. This would be like erasing former singers of Iced Earth from the record because it’d be a sleight against Matt Barlow (How could you forget the lineup of one of IE’s best albums (Night of the Stormrider)?).

The point is, Cliff Burton was and still is a major influence on bassists and general heavy metal enthusiasts worldwide, and to exclude him from a game that allegedly represents the band’s origins is an insult to his memory.

R.I.P. Cliff

chris | 3/9/2009, 5:42 am EST

Telling someone who plays guitar hero to play a real guitar is like telling someone that plays grand theft auto to kill real hookers.

Will | 3/11/2009, 11:04 am EST

Hey Him there’s 28 metallica tracks not 25. And what do you mean not in your opinion? They are extreme, of course you probably listen to p*ssy NU metal. And there is a second bass pedal. Anyway this is for the fans, and obviously your not a fan. So why even bother looking at this page, Him?! I’m getting it when it comes out, with the second bass pedal. Live on METALLICA!

Will | 3/11/2009, 11:08 am EST

Hey Chris, Activision aren’t the ones you should kick in the face. Metallica chose all the songs for the game, and if you kick any one of them anywhere, your ars is mine boy.

Will | 3/11/2009, 11:13 am EST

You’re the poser STFU, not guitar hero players. They just play to have fun dummy.

Will | 3/11/2009, 11:18 am EST

You’re retarded Stop.. You can live a life with all those options with guitar hero. I get laid every night from my girlfriend because we are a band online. And I go to work every morning, pick my kids up from school, go to the bank to draw out some money, take my family out to eat or something, come home, and rock out on guitar hero. Wow talk about embarrasing.

Will | 3/11/2009, 11:31 am EST

Metallica leave cliff out? Calm the fuck down. Yes Cliff was fantastic, yes his performances were great, yes I even miss him and would give anything to bring him back from the dead. But just because he’s not in gameplay, doesn’t mean he’s not in any of the extra videos or pictures. Besides, Robert is a better bass player than Jason, who was not as good as Cliff and if you don’t like his work with Ozzy and Death Magnetic, eat shit. Don’t be one of those so obsessed fans that you are going to kill the other members. OK, so please give it another minute of thinking before posting hate mail to Cliff’s brothers and “just as good” bass man.

Your Mom | 3/13/2009, 11:49 pm EST

Metallica is bettr than Megadeth

Juan | 3/18/2009, 5:33 pm EST

Will be the best game ever. I already preodered it at Gamestop so that means i am getting an extra peddle to play like Lars. This will not be a waste money

Jackii Damage | 3/20/2009, 10:06 pm EST

This looks good, almost as fun as that time my band jammed Frantic and Whiskey In The Jar on-stage (H) and all you guitarists who think Guitar Hero/Rock Band is for folk who can’t play an instrument, GET YER HEAD OUT YER ARSE!!!! I play PROPER Guitar/Bass/Drums yet i find playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band extremely fun, especially before playing a gig. And anyway, Guitar Hero and Rock Band we’re made to inspire people to get more involved with music, and IF the player wanted to, give them an extra push towards considering playing guitar, but more importantly for drunken laughs on the weekends.

Her | 3/22/2009, 9:21 am EST

This game looks fun, but not as fun as reading a novel or jamming nails into my face.

k miller | 3/22/2009, 6:16 pm EST

anyone who actually takes the time to leave a negative comment (especially about the greatest band out there) has no life. My question is what brought you to this page if you dont like Metallica seriously? No life, no life.

Miguel | 4/6/2009, 3:47 pm EST

Dude why is everyone so angry at the posts people leave here? It’s a game!

METALLICA!!!!

Dude Man | 4/21/2009, 8:04 pm EST

I think Guitar Hero is just a harmlessly, fun video game and it’s great to see Metallica have one named after them. My only complaint about the game is that niether Budgie nor Blue Oyster Cult have songs in the game, but Metallica has covered both bands.

sikchimp71 | 6/24/2009, 12:35 am EST

CONGRATS TO METALLICA AND TO ROBERT

and as st says send me youre money
