Britney Spears’ Racy “If U Seek Amy” Hits the Radio, Angers Parents

The Parents Television Council is livid that Britney Spears‘ cunningly titled “If U Seek Amy” is getting radio play, despite the fact that the title and lyrics essentially say “F-U-C-K Me.” Parents in Australia first complained about the song’s content, and now that the track has become the third single off Circus, American parents are lining up to demand radio stations cease playing the song between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. as it “violates the broadcast indecency law.”

“There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy,” PTC president Tim Winter said. “It’s one thing for a song with these lyrics to be included on a CD so that fans who wish to hear it can do so, but it’s an entirely different matter when this song is played over the publicly owned airwaves, especially at a time when children are likely to be in the listening audience.”

Despite the PTC outcry, radio stations continue to play the track, as evidenced by its Number 92 debut on the Billboard Pop 100. A Jive-edited version of the song excises the “k” from “Seek,” thus “If You See Amy” (which is pretty much still “F-U-C Me.”) Some inventive DJs are throwing their own names over the “Me,” so for instance when the chorus plays, it’ll go “All the boys and all the girls are begging to if you seek George,” etc.

Meanwhile, we’re still trying to wrap our head around why a Parents Television Council would complain about what’s on the radio. They should be more concerned with getting Bromance off the air than this Britney single. All the chatter around “Amy” hasn’t stopped 107,000 people from buying the song digitally.

don’t be stupid enough to let your children listen to it….better yet, don’t listen to this shitty music at all.

SARAH | 1/22/2009, 12:39 pm EST

U DONT LIKE IT DONT LISTEN WHY U GOTTA HATE

Lee | 1/22/2009, 12:40 pm EST

I don’t get it there is no “c” in “If U Seek Amy” so how can it be fuck me. People have too much time on their hands.

Michael | 1/22/2009, 12:41 pm EST

…and she calls herself an artist? This is swill and should not even be considered or listened to. So when all the rules are broken and every line is crossed and ever person is offended…where do we go? Can’t someone just write a nice song with melody and decent lyrics?

Amy | 1/22/2009, 12:46 pm EST

It’s like the DaVinci Code!

Canada | 1/22/2009, 12:58 pm EST

Lee – Sound it out bud.
If U Seek Amy: If(F) U(U) See(C) k-A(K) my(ME).
It’s quite obvious. Anyway, Britney Spears is brutal, not worth getting bent outta shape over.

natalie | 1/22/2009, 1:04 pm EST

i luv every singer exept from dos shit 1s

Jett | 1/22/2009, 1:20 pm EST

Anybody that shows their bearded clam off can’t be to sharp. Her music is trivia pop at best.

KLeigh | 1/22/2009, 1:26 pm EST

It gets an “F” for originality…The band April Wine had a song called “If You See Kay” back in the early 80’s. Its not only a stupid idea, its not even original.

She still looks good on most RS covers though…

name | 1/22/2009, 1:29 pm EST

come on now, i havent heard the song, i dont plan on ever hearing the song, but i think the lyrics are funny as F-U-C-K, this is certainly not the raciest or most inappropriate song on the radio right now and shouldnt be treated like it is, get lil waynes dumb ass off the radio before going after this song

cuban-link | 1/22/2009, 1:36 pm EST

Sarah must be as lame as brit.. learn how to speak/write English please. brit sucks and the world knows it. once a drug addict always…. just look at her.

MisterHate | 1/22/2009, 1:55 pm EST

Yea, worse than lyrics about murdering cops, huh? Blah.

Lasha | 1/22/2009, 2:01 pm EST

I think its stupid that ppl are getting mad, get the fuck over it, who cares if thats what it spells shes not saying it in her song, I love Britney and i love that song

red | 1/22/2009, 2:04 pm EST

Really, people?! It’s just a song… it’s Britney’s futile attempt at music. If you don’t like it change the station. There are plenty of other types of music out there, i.e. Lollipop there’s some music worth listening to…..

bee | 1/22/2009, 2:09 pm EST

I’m sorry if parents don’t like what’s on the radio- then don’t let their kids listen to it- problem solved- why does everyone BUT the parent have to be responsible for what a child hears?

joe | 1/22/2009, 2:35 pm EST

wait a minute.. i thought “if you see kay” was a turbonegro song.. unless they covered april wine. enlighten me. if your kids listen to britney spears then spank the hell out of them and give them some good music to listen to like the Beatles or G.G. Allin.

Hey Brtitney | 1/22/2009, 2:39 pm EST

If You Seek Q!!!

Seriously, everyone lighten up.

Emma | 1/22/2009, 2:41 pm EST

I love this song !!! I dont think it should be banned from the radio at all or the lyrics changed! I mean, if you see amy??? Do you think that sounds right? Your just ruining a perfectly good song!

Anon | 1/22/2009, 2:42 pm EST

cuban-link – Brit suffers from mental illness and takes medications. She’s not a drug addict. Big difference.

jon | 1/22/2009, 2:58 pm EST

it’s okay for katy perry to kiss a girl but not okay F-U-C-K britney? come on!

JP | 1/22/2009, 3:09 pm EST

Banning Britney’s new song? Great idea, but for the wrong reason. Don’t play this song or any other songs by her. Not because of offensiveness, because she is a horrible pop act. People should be more outraged about the quality of music getting airplay instead of whether or not you can glean an offensive innuendo from the lyrics.

mark | 1/22/2009, 3:09 pm EST

get over it!

seriously there are so many more blatant rap songs to worry about. This song’s tite

Nadia | 1/22/2009, 3:36 pm EST

Jeez people over react… so what if that’s what if it spells out the word? Like there’s not a ton of worse songs out there? Lots talk about things like that without actually saying it, just like she did. “I want to lick you like a lollipop?…” among others… sheesh. get over it!

yo | 1/22/2009, 4:03 pm EST

the current gen is just plain stupid…and weak. there parents buy them everything. they’re too dumb to get jobs.

david | 1/22/2009, 4:28 pm EST

these parent groups need to start looking after there kids, they probably grew up on the beatles lucy in the sky with diamonds. wake up, it’s been happening for years.

katie | 1/22/2009, 4:39 pm EST

OMG…THIS GIVES PARENTS SUCH A BAD REP. The parents of television council or whoever the fuck you are, get the fuck over it. it’s a song. ever hear of freedom of speech?
i have one thing to say to you FUCK ME. uh oh am i gonna me arrested now?

Anonymous | 1/22/2009, 5:09 pm EST

Releasing this track as a single is a very thinly veiled publicity stunt…

and it seems to be working.

Jessica | 1/22/2009, 5:26 pm EST

I agree, the parents should be responsible for what music their child listens to. That job shouldn’t fall on everyone else’s shoulders just because they don’t want to do their job!

I love the song “If U Seek Amy”…it’s really catchy and fun and it’s actually my fave song on the whole cd!

People are always going to complain about something so there is no use trying to stop them.

YallRdipshits | 1/22/2009, 5:32 pm EST

How are parents supposed to control what their kids hear on the radio?

Lil Wayne | 1/22/2009, 5:40 pm EST

Obviously these parents have never heard ” Mrs. Officer”

Silas | 1/22/2009, 5:47 pm EST

These parents are stupid im 15..my parents heard the song for fun..they found nothing wrong with it..They said she is not actually saying the word and its not the title so what is the problem with it…-_-…People just liek to always find something about britney, how bout you go and lick the the lolipop from lil wayne

donnie downer | 1/22/2009, 5:49 pm EST

Brit and whoever has a right to make whatever they want, but I think it’s pretty shitty that they (artist and label) push inappropriate content on the radio when they know their primary audience is pre-teens.

WOW | 1/22/2009, 7:03 pm EST

Honesty, this is ridiculous. Never in the song does she outright say fuck me. So many other songs out there are much more explicit and give details. And really, what kid has heard fuck by like fourth grade.

..EE.. | 1/22/2009, 7:39 pm EST

Why are these people flipping out bout this song..?
have they not heard rap and all that other music..?

deano | 1/22/2009, 7:42 pm EST

this is an awesome song don’t take it off the radio, i had to hear it several times to even pick it up i could’nt understand what people were talking about and i’m 17 my lil sister listenend to it and she just loves the beat she does’nt have a clue and she picks up on things quite easily.

Crookiie | 1/22/2009, 7:47 pm EST

It gets me why this song could get banned over so many others that freely have radio airplay.
The hidden lyric set is unofficial, yh we all kno its there & lets face it, we all kno it was done purposely. Buh im sure i could pick out a lot worse from previous charts. When will people stop trying to sabotage Britneys career.
Ok if extremes are needed then label it Parental Advisory, dont ban it =S
Fooooooooooools

Crookiie | 1/22/2009, 7:50 pm EST

& im shocked someone could even write this…

Michael | 1/22/2009, 12:41 pm EST

…and she calls herself an artist? This is swill and should not even be considered or listened to. So when all the rules are broken and every line is crossed and ever person is offended…where do we go? Can’t someone just write a nice song with melody and decent lyrics?

GRO SOME BALLS & GET A LIFE
Jesus

Bree | 1/22/2009, 8:03 pm EST

can someone explain to me how the hell does the title spells out F.U.C.K. M.E.? Because i clearly don’t see it. Unless ofcourse you had the dirty mind, just as apparently you think Britney does. So what if she names her song that? Rapers and other artistes use more horrible words than that. They talk about bitches and hoes and putting women down and saying that they suck dick. WOULD YOU RATHER YOU DAUGHTERS OR CHILDREN LISTEN TO THAT? Because i can tell you that they like that stuff. No teenage girls got what the message was. A parent did. So now someone made it obsivious instead of leaving Britney Spears alone. Now of course your children are going to listen to the song. How stupid are you? Children these days are doing way worse things. Do you think they care about a stupid title of a song? Stop trying to bring Britney Spears down. YOU ARE ALL JUST JEALOUS JUST SHE CAME BACK!

Bree | 1/22/2009, 8:05 pm EST

I meant to say you are all just jealous because she came back! and i love Britney spears

Imperial | 1/22/2009, 9:09 pm EST

Britney still knows how to get people’s thongs in a wad, doesn’t she? I love the song. I think it’s the best song she’s ever put out (and I never expected to hear a better pop song than “Toxic”), and it’s the best song on the radio. Her tunes are always, always a slice ahead of her peers, imo. It’s ear candy people. Just enjoy it. Besides, she is not actually saying anything profane-no matter how much it sounds like it.

kbrea13 | 1/22/2009, 11:28 pm EST

Honestly, I think the song “If You Seek Amy” is the least of these parents’ problems. Between television show s like A Double Shot of Love and the latest rap songs, parents need to leave Britney alone and start focusing on the people who bluntly put sex in their kids faces . Its freedom of speech, if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it.

ZzzIPPER | 1/22/2009, 11:30 pm EST

Why is it that nobody complains about other artists explicit lyrics. I’ve listened to the song a hundred times and I had to read the article before I got what they were complaining about. Yes, the song is suggestive but to decipher it’s meaning is not as out there as most songs. Has anybody listened to Candyman from Chritina Aguilera or Candyshop from 50 cent, or Go girl dunno from who. I don’t hear anybody wanting those songs banned. Plus, to think that it’s okay for 6 year olds to listen to Britney Spears…please. That’s the parents fault for living under a rock. She’s known world wide for her sexuality as she is for her songs. She’s been America’s sex kitten for years and the crowd has refused for her to let go of that reign.

NYC Nate | 1/23/2009, 7:55 am EST

95% of these posts are downright idiotic…no wonder the world sits back and laughs at us.

Do you honestly think that parents can control what radio stations their kids are listening to 24/7/365?!? I agree that there are a lot of horrible tunes on the air, but there is a burden on radio stations and the FCC to filter through the music that’s played over the air.

And “Freedom of Speech” is great and all, but does not and should not pertain to what’s broadcast over the airwaves. Like, I said…moronic – did any of you even study the Bill of Rights? (That’s where Freedom of Speech is discussed, dummies). It was written in an age where mass broadcast didn’t exist. Obviously, upgrades need to be made.

NYC Nate | 1/23/2009, 8:00 am EST

…and it’s even funnier (or sadder depending on your perspective) how so many of you don’t get the connection between “If you Seek Amy” and “F-U-C-K me”, so I’ll spell it out for all the dummies:

F=If (albeit, with a weird accent)
U=You
C=See
K=K-A
Me=M y

“If You Seek Amy”…say it. C’mon, say it!

Get it now? Good. You might still get your GED, then.

Juli | 1/23/2009, 8:16 am EST

I think she borrowed from Aerosmith with a bit more subtlety:
“Sweet Susie Q, she was a rebel
No angel wings more like the devil
She was so hot, so cool and nasty
Believe it or not here’s what she asked me…
‘If you need love with no condition
Let’s Do the Do honey I’m on a mission

The girl’s so bitchin’, my backbone’s twitchin’
Cause down in Hell’s kitchen
The Devil’s got a New Disguise
I’m on a mission, a proposition
Its intuition cause,
The Devil’s got a New Disguise

If you see kay, tell her I love her
She did me in but I’ll recover
She said love was her desire
All that she touched she set on fire
She was so diss – I couldn’t slag her
She blew a kiss – I threw the dagger”

brittay | 1/23/2009, 9:10 am EST

if you don’t like britney’s music why are you wasting your time downing her? i find it very childidh and if you seek amy does not mean FUCK ME! you idiots, she is talking about all the time people have screwed her over-people seriousl track her down aka seek her just to dig a little more dirt on her. that’s what the song represents, people screwing her over.

britney sucks | 1/23/2009, 9:38 am EST

maybe if parents would stop letting their stupid children buy her music she would finally go away.

Hyug | 1/23/2009, 9:59 am EST

Remember Van Halen’s 1991 album ?!… It was named “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” = F.U.C.K. !!! What’s wrong with that ?… People should teach/educate their children instead of blaming artists (whomever wrote this song) for their creativity, even if it includes subliminar and/or second meaning contents. Is there anything wrong with The Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” = L.S.D. ?… And The Stranglers’ “Golden Brown” (about heroin) ?… Get real, please !!!

DL | 1/23/2009, 10:59 am EST

Silly. Artists have been doing this forever as many posts have pointed out. It might be a little risque, but it’s just a cute play on linguistic sounds to spell something.

Is it really any worse than the songs or band names that related to sexual innuendo. The Loving Spoonful and 10cc were both about ejaculation amounts, Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s song “Relax” and Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself” were about masturbation, Kelis’ “Milkshake” was about big breasts, and so on.

Much “worse” is the actual mis-sounding of words like Extreme’s “Get the Funk Out” from the late 80’s. I mean, that one actually sounds like “Fuck” when they say it.

Keep in mind, many of those songs did cause some controversy in some places, even banning, so even the controversy isn’t new.

Jerry Mercer | 1/23/2009, 1:02 pm EST

Stop ripping off April Wine, girl.

segzee ijit | 1/23/2009, 1:06 pm EST

Rolling Stone, you can’t wrap your head around why the Parent’s TV council would complain? Why don’t you re-read what you quoted Tim Winter said: “It’s one thing for a song with these lyrics to be included on a CD so that fans who wish to hear it can do so, but it’s an entirely different matter when this song is played over the publicly owned airwaves, especially at a time when children are likely to be in the listening audience.” The airwaves (TV and radio) belong to the PUBLIC, and are regulated by the FCC (hence stations need to get a license). It is just like driving: on public roads I must follow the rules and regulations for everyone’s safety. On my own property I can drive like a maniac if I wanted to. This music (as well as the other music mentioned here) poses a danger to the minds of youth, but what do you or the recording companies care if you wreck people’s minds as long as you make a buck?
PS: these lyrics are so juvenile i can’t believe adults produce it, this is the kind of stuff we joked about as 6th graders

Brett | 1/23/2009, 1:31 pm EST

“All the boys and all the girls are begging to if you seek amy” It’s just gibberish unless you hear what she’s really saying. Anybody begging to f.u.c.k. her is begging to get the clap. Why do you keep putting this mindless tramp on your cover rs?

JOe | 1/23/2009, 2:20 pm EST

Tim Winter is just being a little b-i-t-c-h because he isn’t getting any booty at home!

Joe | 1/23/2009, 2:21 pm EST

Ummm…DL Kelis’ “Milkshake” was not about big breasts…and I’ll leave it at that.

Scott Tofte | 1/23/2009, 2:22 pm EST

Um…well this worked in her favor: see madonna.

Do something incredibly risque and lewd to get attention and airplay.

So many people have been there done that. Forget Britney, she sucks. Sing a real song. Write something with a positive message for the 14 year old girls that listen to you.

Re: segzee ijit

If you raise your kids right, then none of this matters. If you’re positive role model and an active force in their lives then they can listen to this crap all they want and they will still turn out to be good people and their minds won’t be ruined.

Rev.St.Huck | 1/23/2009, 2:48 pm EST

jeez who cares this much about britney spears anyway? news flash: if you ignore her, she may actually go away. what better way to make another million and keep you in the press. the population of the world should be ashamed for feeding into this nonsense.

Sly | 1/23/2009, 2:59 pm EST

Who’s Britney Spears?

AndyIII | 1/23/2009, 3:03 pm EST

This is really shocking…the class and songsmanship of the rest of Britney Spears body of work really never pointed to something as crass as this being put out. You’d almost think that it was put out to generate publicity. I guess they’re going to have to fire the computer that writes her songs.

Bob | 1/23/2009, 3:23 pm EST

Steph | 1/23/2009, 3:44 pm EST

Clearly most of the people who have commented do not have children. If you hear a three year old singing the lyrics you wouldn’t think it was quite so harmless…or maybe you would!!! Freedom of speech is all well and good but come on! If you really believe that this isn’t a publicity stunt then you’re in denial. I don’t have a problem with Britney, what I do have a problem with is having to censor the radio myself – in the middle of the day. This stuff has no place for daytime radio – unless it is ‘bleeped’ out.
That’s my 2c worth

@Steph, first off, if your 3 year old is running around singing any song that is distasteful, I’m going to ask you WTF you are doing letting your kid listen to something like that. IT’s YOUR job to be the parent, not the gov’ts. It’s called PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY.

gre | 1/23/2009, 4:34 pm EST

you americans are so fucking prude.

Paddlacus | 1/23/2009, 4:50 pm EST

When I was 8 years old I got the Guns N Roses tape of Appetite for Destruction. My dad looked at the insert of a woman being raped by a few robots, then took the tape to listen to. Noting such endearing lyrics as “Turn around bitch I got a use for you//Besides you ain’t got nothin’ better to do//And I’m bored” he asked if I understood what the lyrics said. I said “I don’t care what they’re saying, I just like the music” and he said “Fair enough, here you go”.
Pretty shocking, but 20 years later, I’m not a sex-predator, or a rapist, or messed up in any other way because of that album.
Why? Because, as with wrestling, my dad taught me that some things are real and some things aren’t. It doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them, but it’s not something to take into your daily life. So I never headbutted my friends, and I never smacked women around.
Parents, when I was 8 I didn’t have a computer or the internet and “bad” stuff was much harder to find. To assume that not having it on the radio is going to change anything is astoundingly naive.
Teach your kids what’s real and what’s not, what’s appropriate and what’s not, what they should accept and what they should reject, and if you do it right, maybe they’ll turn it off themselves. Or maybe they’ll sing along thinking “wow, those are some RIDICULOUS lyrics, but it’s got a good beat”.

“the class and songsmanship of the rest of Britney Spears body of work”

Whoa, I still can’t see my monitor through the tears streaming down my face. This has to be one of the funniest things I have read in a long, long time. I would bash the author something good if I didn’t feel so incredibly sorry for them.

To the topic at hand, to the ever present “where are the parents” morons, um…first you said that I have to monitor my kid 24/7. It is unreasonable for me to ask for “safe zones”. Now you are saying that it is MY responsibility to also manage the public airwaves? I should not turn on any electronic device without first…yah, you guys don’t even make any sense. Not at all. I am a top-notch parent, my three year old understands what “M” on the videogame means and what is expected of him when he comes across an “M” game. But to expect me to sit with my child every second they are in front of a television or radio…it is asinine and silly and doesn’t make any sense at all.

I AM living up to my responsibility as a parent by saying, “Whoa!! Get that off the public airwaves!”

(and then the male adult in me will Google the lyrics and maybe even the video)

Rim tim wim bim lim bim p'tang | 1/23/2009, 4:59 pm EST

I like it.I think we should have more profanity on the radio.
Terrestrial radio sucks so bad now, anything would be a marked improvement, even this crappy Britney single.

FYI | 1/23/2009, 5:10 pm EST

fyi, the song goes:

“…love me or hate me,
say what you want about me,
but all the boys and all the girls,
are begging to F-U-C-K me”

So basically the song is saying you can say whatever and think whatever you want about her and that’s fine, because everyone still wants to have sex with her.

The rest of the song involves her elaborating on a possible lesbian sexual encounter with an “Amy” after leaving the club, as well as the specifics of such an encounter.

Laid (no pun intended) out like this, her intention with the phrase “if(F) you(U) seek(CK) Amy(me)” is indisputable.

But you’ll get no value judgments from me on the song itself, as I could care less. I’ll leave the debate to you wackos who either present a ridiculous amount of disdain for her or a ridiculous amount of devotion. Taste is a subjective concept, as are emotions in general…

rowan | 1/23/2009, 5:10 pm EST

I dunno, but after I heard that song it just… kinda lingers. Y’know?

Jason (In Nova Scotia, Canada) | 1/23/2009, 5:16 pm EST

First Off – No I do not have kids.

Secondly – Yes we are trying to have kids.

Thirdly – I have said it all along, I will continue to say it and it is the environment I (and my wife were raised) – I am held accountable for what my kid does wrong, I taught my kid how when and where to make their mistakes, I will not be recognized for what my kid does well or correctly and furthermore I kind of think in some/most situations the number of things my child does that are “Innappropriate” is supposed to be a guage of my quality of parenting.

So if I have raised a 100% Innapporpriate little boy or girl then maybe I should (legally) not be allowed to have and/or raise children ever again.

Dani | 1/23/2009, 5:18 pm EST

i just got the song off limewire. i listened to it nothings wrong with it. old people just love to bitch about stuff….

Sarah | 1/23/2009, 5:33 pm EST

I didnt even know about this song until i saw all the press on it. And .. its awesome. Keep it up jive!!!! 1 point for britney, 0 for angry parents.

bob | 1/23/2009, 5:40 pm EST

I feel that there is no negative press out right now about britney so they are trying to get something. you honestly cant even hear it unless someone points it out. no kid is gunna catch on. and also i have heard some songs on the radio talking about how they wanna make love in the club…

bryan | 1/23/2009, 5:55 pm EST

what a stupid song. if britney (and her writers) didn’t capitalize on controversy, she wouldn’t have a career. whoever sees her as talented on any level should really be ashamed of themselves.

Kati | 1/23/2009, 6:04 pm EST

I think it is all crazy if it is to not appropriate to play on the radio then they don’t have to play it. She is a grown woman there is nothing wrong with the song. How many rappers can’t play their music on the radio because of the words? people just need to lay off Britt and relax its really not that big of a deal. Doing this you are just making more people listen to her song.

Cathy | 1/23/2009, 6:08 pm EST

For those who didn’t get it, I didn’t either at first cause they weren’t explaining it right. “Say F-U-C-K me” and it sounds just like “if you seek Amy”. That’s what they’re talking about. Then they just write it the 2nd way in the song to get away with it. Makes me wonder about when she sings it, which phrase she’s really singing or thinking about, cause it sounds almost the same.

surforia | 1/23/2009, 6:08 pm EST

“‘There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy,’ PTC president Tim Winter said.”

How is Tim Winter so certain that the song isn’t, in fact, about a girl named Amy that wants to be fucked?

Melissa | 1/23/2009, 6:47 pm EST

How is this any worse than some of these rap artists talking about slapping a b-i-t-c-h or raping a woman? It may not be the greatest song to let your kid listen to, but don’t let them buy the track or the CD or whatever.

I don’t know many twelve or thirteen year old kids who don’t know the word fuck or sex.. our kids aren’t that naive.. kids having sex and doing drugs is sadly starting earlier and earlier in age.

Cassandra | 1/23/2009, 6:56 pm EST

This is silly. A lot of parents spell out words they don’t want their children to understand(when they are younger). Let me tell you most pre-teens hear the F-word in all its glory all of the time. I think it being spelled out being controversial is ridiculous. In the day of iPods, who really listens to the radio. Monitor what your kids listen to. There is far more controversial content in morning radio shows on the drive to school. Come on? As if the drug usage reference isn’t a problem? Is this telling teens that cursing and sex is more of a problem than drugs? This is stupid.

Perry Crann | 1/23/2009, 7:06 pm EST

This controversy is so pathetic, most people would not even notice the phrase if it was not pointed out to them. Honestly, don’t conservatives have anything better to be doing. This is just childish and ridiculous.

John | 1/23/2009, 7:11 pm EST

“I don’t get it. It really doesn’t say fuck me. people are just reaching”…… I like what Bob said Jesus people have you heard most things on top 40 radio? They played “i kissed a girl and i liked it” ect…..it’s 2009 folks shut the fuck up! Say it right Lee “People have too much time on their hands.”

katiedee | 1/23/2009, 7:12 pm EST

So Britney is the queen of controversy and getting her name out there to get publicity. What I don’t understand is why parents in Australia would be so concerned about the “content” of Britney’s “If You Seek Amy” on the radio but do not feel offended at other artists such as Pink with her “U and Ur Hand” song or pretty much any rap song out there. Most pop music today is explicit in someway and can easily offend people if they actually listen to the lyrics and not just the rhythm and beat.

And I know Tim Winters had to be making a joke when he said, “It’s one thing for a song with these lyrics to be included on a CD so that fans who wish to hear it can do so, but it’s an entirely different matter when this song is played over the publicly owned airwaves, especially at a time when children are likely to be in the listening audience.”
Seriously? Who do you think Britney Spear’s biggest fan base is? Because I’m pretty sure it’s the same people who are listening to her on the radio that are buying her CD’s so does it matter if they are going to listen anyway? Preteen girls are pretty much her target audience whether parents want to admit it or not, their little girls are going to go around singing Britney Spears and her lyrics that some see as offensive. Deal with it. They could be listening to Nine Inch Nails “Closer” and should consider themselves lucky.

Erin | 1/23/2009, 7:33 pm EST

I’m sorry but I have listened to “If U Seek Amy” many times and have no clue where these people are getting this idea that it says the “f” word. People are really digging deep on this one.

griv | 1/23/2009, 10:12 pm EST

I do find this tasteless. It would pass if it actually made sense in the way it is written, but it doesn’t. It’s clearly meant for shock value. 12 year olds shouldn’t be reciting this.

MC | 1/23/2009, 10:22 pm EST

First: this has been done before: an indie band called Poster Children had a song called “If You See Kay”. Britney (or whomever wrote the song) is not being original.

Second: if these parents are the same parents who will let their kids watch shows with rampant violence, then I don’t want to hear it. It is just a WORD.

JettaJameson | 1/23/2009, 10:38 pm EST

I am a HUGE Britney fan. If U Seek Amy is a FUN song and anyone who says it doesn’t say F.U.C.K ME is an idiot. It very clearly says it multiple times. I agree with everyone who has blasted the whining parents about this song. Shut up already. Do your jobs and PARENT your children.

Cassidy | 1/23/2009, 10:46 pm EST

I think this is just ridiculous! No one kid is gonna say hey mom is she saying f-u-c-k me instead of if you seek amy, it’s just dumb i think, some parents are too up tight.

Have any of you people that say you don’t get the “F-U-C-K Me” in the song actually listened to it? I didn’t know the name of the song before I heard it on the radio and that’s exactly what I thought was being said!

Iwannaseekamy | 1/23/2009, 11:27 pm EST

It kills me that parents complain about music lyrics. I enjoy Britney’s music. I grew listening to her. When she was becoming a woman so was I. These parents that are making a big deal are only making their children want to listen even more. Britney is 27 let her sing to her age group. I think it is hilarious how many of you bash her and call her a gimmick this is America so you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you are probably fat and ugly with no friends. Seriously get a life and quit trying to bring other people down. You don’t know her so how about giving her a break? I’m sure you are far from perfect, in fact you are probably use to getting picked on so now since you are behind a big bad computer screen you can say whatever you want. Walk a mile in someones shoe and then judge. Wait you can’t cause you cankles won’t fit. Pathetic!

one of the oldest tricks in the book

the rolling stones did it with
star star (goats head soup album 1973)
“star buck a star buck a star–you know you are”

Original title was “Starfucker”, but the title was changed for the packaging and radio play.

so what if the song spells the F word

negative publicity is a tool of the industry

and we are all pawns by even posting anything regarding this BS song(including me)–wait her initials are BS = Bull Sh*t

Urgent Notice : People concerned with these “lyrics”, please find the nearest bridge and jump ! thank you, good night

vib | 1/24/2009, 5:25 am EST

Iwannaseekamy, Brittany’s original audience may have aged with her, but she’s still a pop idol… and that audience is still seen as including kids, so of course she’s going to draw a lot of flak from parents for this. If she was in a different genre with an older expected audience, she might well have gotten away with it.

But then again, maybe not. “If you seek Amy” is so clumsily jammed into the song that it makes no sense (and is a complete grammatical nightmare)… it only makes sense if she is singing “F-U-C-K Me”. That’s just blatant and stupid… if you want to do this sort of thing, you should at least be subtle (if not genuinely clever) and have the lyric fit in a way that’s plausibly deniable.

These parents obviously wants their children to be half naked sluts when they grow up or else they would have found them a better role model many years ago. I think it’s sad that so many people clearly aren’t cut out to be parents.
May some higher force help these children grow up to have good values because their parents sure as hell don’t.

It doesnt mean we`re all loose women with no morals!!! You make me larrrrf!!! Get a life and get the album… Its great to be alive, is it not?? You will dance round your lounge!! A variation upon a very old bit of wordplay.

There have been several songs called If You See Kay, going back to the early 20th century. James Joyce also used the phrase in Ulysses (1922).

I am sick of people trying to reuion britneys life!!! IK have heared this song millions of times already and they are just hearing this cause the song is going so fast so it SOUNDS like she is saying that!!!! The lyrics are… Love me, Hate me say what you want about me, But all of the boys and all of the girls are beging to if you seek amy!!!Get over yourselfs people!!!LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!!!

I listened to the song 2 times and was clueless to where other parents were coming up with this F.U.C.K. The third time I listened to it my son told me how to figure it out-these other parents need to back off on what they say about the music kids listen to these days. Reading too much into the lyrics of a song must be a sign of having too much time on their hands; or they like the song too. Remember how our parents didn’t approve of the music we listened to when we were our kids’ age. The song has a catchy beat to it-people stop ruining the lyrics to songs such as If You Seek Amy. Leave it be the song title it says-”If You Seek Amy” not “F-u-c-k Me”. This is music people, not Analyzing English Liturature!

Dave | 1/24/2009, 10:35 pm EST

Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Why in the world would someone make Britney’s new song out to be something its not! She’s a freaking grown woman. If she wanted to cuss or say the F bomb in a song who really cares?! She is not a little Disney girl anymore. Kids are going to say and do whatever they want no matter how they are raised or what they listen/watch.. So parents get some sense. There are more songs out there that actually cuss and say worse!

matthew | 1/25/2009, 5:18 am EST

ok i dont get the big deal, remember the lolly pop song that came out but i think wezzy or what every it was talking about sucking a D*ck so i guess the ptc doesnt have a problem with our kids walking around singing about sucking on a d*ck but they cant say if you seek amy what every its just them trying to get at britney like they always do. if this song was by someone else there wouldnt be a problem. PTC worry about your own damn zombie children and let us worry about ours you peices of shit.
thanks have a great day

Ah, Britney, Madonna taught you so well in so many ways. Go bananas, make a “comeback” and, above all, figure out a way to get/keep your name in print as much as possible, preferably by doing something the masses will perceive as being naughty. And it’s working for you girl despite your total lack of talent! Only in America. What a country.

duh. wtf. are you seriously going to make a big deal over a freakin song that doesnt come right out and say F**K ME? but implys it. why dont you go look at songs that talk about suckin d**k and lickin’ pu**y. that will corrupt you children. if you dont tell you kids what if you seek amy means then they most likely wont find out. get a life.

ellen | 1/25/2009, 3:40 pm EST

dude seriously f.u.c.k me is not anywhere near as bad as half the song on the radio like lollipop or candy shop or other songs like that if she wants to say fuck me on her songs let here she is a grown woman what she wants to do is her choice

sunny | 1/25/2009, 6:10 pm EST

am I stupid for not even realizing all of this?? I woudldn’t have even thought the title meant anything till this story came along. I just thought it was a song about a girl. and I’m 28 years old!!

mllerref | 1/25/2009, 6:51 pm EST

Here’s an idea; Instead of concerning yourself with what’s on TV or the radio, how about you, gee, I don’t know, BE A PARENT!!! Take responsibility for your own kids and stop pushing your morality on the rest of us.

It’s people like you that make me pay for HBO just so I can hear the “F” word on television, because you haven’t reached a level of parental responsibility that allows you to teach your morality to your kids instead of expecting the world to conform to it.

Andrew | 1/25/2009, 7:50 pm EST

Oh Wow….Its a song titled “If you seek Amy”…..It may mean fuck me but if its not actually said then whats the big deal…..Why werent all these “parents” trying to get “crazy bitch” or “whatever you like” off the radio…i mean seriously even “addicted” Britney knows what shes doing and she knew this song would be popular…..I never thought that anyone would have a problem with it, if they didnt have a problem with all the others…..let Britney be herself forget the rest.

DON | 1/25/2009, 8:40 pm EST

its PRETTY STUPID CONTROVERSY. 1st amendment rights here people. If she wants to make a song about everyone wanting to fuck her than go for it. If the radio’s want to play it a certain way, than so be it. It is definitely up to the parents to monitor what their kids listen to. I dont even think that the radio’s will play it before 10pm anyways because of the controversy. A lot of songs are definatly way worse. Like get low, and the lolli songs etc. Just watch what your kids listen to and stop controlling what i can and can’t listen to on the radio.

LoopGuru | 1/26/2009, 12:36 am EST

i have a 13 year who sneaks to hear songs about sex and violence. It’s hard for me to control her in this day and age when parents like me truly try to raise our kids right. How do you combat all of this? How do you try to raise your child in this world when sex and violence sales? This promotes turmoil in my household when raising my child.

The Big Drrraaaaaaaaag! | 1/26/2009, 1:14 am EST

Reality… Ah, it means so many things to so many people… Let’s face it, most things are just subjective. So, whatever you want to think, say and do without affecting others is your absolute right. However, there are rules in place for reasons. One could SUBJECTIVELY argue that aimlessly shooting guns into the sky or driving drunk are perfectly fine. We can all stay indoors if we don’t ike the results… No, that’s way off… I agree. More like this… If you can have perfect monitorization of your children so as to not have them find publicly aired (tv or radio) garbage, good for you. But, isn’t it a bit sad that we are putting garbage- GARBAGE on the air when there is so much better out there. Somebody agree here. We should make some type of an effort to keep the swearing and sexually suggestive music off the minds of the kids trying to grow up in this already challenging world. That crap is perfect for raising little sluts. Wouldn’t you just love it if all the people in this country were total sluts? Then, we could all just catch aids and die. No, I did it again… Here, be thankful that you can purchase trash like that if you want it. Otherwise, agree to make a collective effort to leave the majority influence a cleaner and healthier place. While none of us is even close to perfect, we really ought to make an effort to appeal to the BETTER nature of our crippled mentaliy as a whole. We can at least TRY to raise 1 out of 7 respectful children, instead of “feedig the machine.” Am I the only one out here who thinks this world could use some major improvements, and that my own life could be a lot better if I just had a little more discipline? Well, can’t we feed ourselves something better than that crap? In fact, this f****** site, since any 8 year old at any time can just jump right on, should have a means to delete mother f****** swear words unless access is gained through a filter for the “junk.” Ah, there probably is one. But, I bet no one uses it. Cause no one really cares that much about what goes in their kids’ heads all day as long as they get a break from the madness themselves… I was thinking… Scaaaaaary! Wouldn’t the best people to ask for advice about WhAtEvEr just be the older, wiser people in the world? You know, the ones who have learned the limitations of our ways… How many people, if they could put this world into someone else’s hands for them to pick up where they left off, would choose to do it a little differently in hopes for a better product someday? WHY CN’T WE TRY A LITTLE?! Should we all have crack bins instead of newspaper racks, too? Just tell the kids “no.” That was way out there… Anyways, lines are drawn for a reason. Let’s error on the side of BETTER judgement for a good future and longevity if possible. Let’s not ALL JUST THROW IN THE TOWEL ALL TOGETHER AND SAY FUCK IT ALL ANYWAY! That SHIT is weak! Now, go ahead and show all the kids those last words, and smile at your daughter when she has 3 abortions by the time she is 19 because all she thinks about is F-U-C-K me. Yeah, I digress, and I’m a KOMPLEEEEET nut. I grant you that. But, that too is legal. And maybe with a stroke of humanity and goodness, someone will read this and start to rethink their logic for the standard of mainstream entertainment in this country/world.

olo | 1/26/2009, 1:52 am EST

really, parents need to realize that kids are gona learn profanity eventually. If the kid doesnt know what “fuck me” means, the he or she wont get “if you seek amy.” If they do get it, that means they have heard “fuck me” before and if they already know, why is it so bad to hear it again. Its not like you don’t hear it at school.

And its hypocritical to single out this song and not lollipop and other songs with sexual messages that put into seemingly innocent language. Because really, what five year old doesn’t want to lick a lollipop.

anonymous | 1/26/2009, 5:00 am EST

Now I wonder how many people remember April Wine’s song from the 1982 LP – Power Play. I worked retail and everyone thought it was a funny anagram for the same thing.

“If You See Kay”

What’s the diff?

I can also quote 137 songs from the Rap/R&B underworld with much more suggestive lyrics. Add to it about 120 rock lyrics to go with it over the years.

ash | 1/26/2009, 8:28 am EST

can i just ask coz i dont get it how the hell does if you seek amy mean fuck me coz id luv to no

ash | 1/26/2009, 9:51 am EST

o yer i get it now. omg who is the sad person whos sat in and actually realised that. get a grip

Joanna | 1/26/2009, 11:28 am EST

Making a big deal out of this will just make more people want to listen to the song. And it is a pretty crappy song. All those kids who can’t hear it on the radio will download it or listen to it on YouTube.

Quillber | 1/26/2009, 11:34 am EST

well i like all sorts of profane hip hop etc music created for adults bla bla and i have to say that i still think this song is totally atrocious, there is no mistaking what the song says, its not something you ‘have to notice’ it is what it is and its actually byond belief ‘all of the boys and all of the girls wanna f-u-c-k me’ a track that would only appeal to 7 yr olds its so bad it sounds like a ringtone, the girl should be arrested for being such a dumb ho, seriously.

hey | 1/26/2009, 12:20 pm EST

im confused i still dont get it, im 16 and i have no idea where FUCK ME come from, soo fuck knows how a kid is suposed to realise !!!

Julie | 1/26/2009, 1:00 pm EST

Brit is in her late 20’s and shes singing about her experiences…dont let your kids listen to it…let them listen to disney ppl. I wish ppl would quit giving her a hard time! So what if she says F-U-C-K…its still a good song! I love Brit, but i dont let my 7 year old listen to it!

Shannon | 1/26/2009, 1:51 pm EST

I don’t hear anything compared to “F U C K” in there, I am not sure what people are smoking now a days but I don’t think it’s too good for you… I listend to this alot of times and even back to to those areas where are hearing that.. still nothing.. people hear what they want to hear…

I don’t hear it..

Isabel | 1/26/2009, 2:10 pm EST

I can’t believe some of these responses. Yes, some teens will get the hidden message, Amy has nothing to do with the rest of the song. And anything that has the “f” word automatically is going to cause uproar because of the law: even if other songs are worse. And plenty of you just responded that people should monitor their kids better. Here’s what I say to that: I’m not even a parent I know how hard it is to monitor what your kids are doing 24/7. Most kids hide what they are doing from their parents. I know we all did when we are kids.

And that comment “Its people like you that make me pay for HBO” …

Wow…I see you care more about your d*** than the protection of the worl’d future leaders: our kids.

Isabel | 1/26/2009, 2:11 pm EST

whoops! when we were* kids.

JPw | 1/26/2009, 2:48 pm EST

I get the hidden meaning, so does my 15 year old daughter and she can listen to it, whichever version she wants, because it is just a song plus my duaghter and I talk, this song will not make her behave inappropriately, she is a good kid, because we talk, just talk to your kids, they will apprecaite it more than you will ever know.

Lily | 1/26/2009, 4:05 pm EST

Yeah, so what about the hundreds of drug reference-laden songs that these parents grew up listening to? Oh sure, now it’s just a cute “trip”(pun completely intended) down memory lane..but back then, THEIR parents were making a big stink about those songs.

I mean, look at shows like Family Guy, (which I love). This show is excessively and blatantly adult material..and is shown on Sunday night PRIME TIME. Not to mention several times a day in syndication. But I suppose “hidden” agenda on a song is FAR more damaging.*rolls eyes* Hardly anyone noticed the content of the song until they started their huge bitchfest.

Presto Massey | 1/26/2009, 5:34 pm EST

Parents just need to shut the f*** up it does not even sound lyk that im listening to it right now and doesnt even relate to that…plus even if it did thats her perogative…not there’s…i lyk it so personally those parents can take a dildo shove it up there ass cuz thats the only drama they’ll recieve…FUCKERS

That1Girl | 1/26/2009, 5:39 pm EST

You’ve got to be kidding me! Of ALL the songs out there for parents to be upset about, this one gets the most attention?!? Britney doesn’t even say “F.U.C.K Me” in it..it’s just implied. People hear what they want to hear..it took me days to figure it out and I’m 21! I happen to think it’s quite hilarious, and hardly inappropriate. For all you parents who are concerned for children’s “Virgin Ears”..reality check. How many of your kids have Eminem or 50 Cent cds?? Hmm? You dont speak up when the radio airs songs about sucking d*** or smoking weed…so what the hell is the big deal? In my opinion, all you over-protective parents need to shut up, get over it, and realize that you’re children dont tell you everything they already know. I love Britney as an artist and a singer..she’s come a long way and still comes out on top. So she’s not singing about being an innocent teenager anymore…grow up people.

Ruth | 1/26/2009, 5:40 pm EST

OK. im 16 and i heard this song a LONG time ago and i didnt get it until i heard about it later. soo.. what is the big deal?? do these parents think that us kids are gonna find some secret code on it?? umm no. we have better things to do. and now that we all kno the secret, it makes us more interested in the song. main point: these parents are stupid.

Daniela | 1/26/2009, 6:01 pm EST

OK i love Britney and i love that song and i was watching the news and i they said something about “if you seek amy” and i didnt get it and they even pointed it out and ask people on the streets and i then i got online and searched and the news website, and still nothing i pre ordered that CD and so i listened to the song 7 times and still didnt get it untill i saw the drop down in google. so i got to this site and relistened to it and still didnt hear it and then i finally i sang it a few time like f.u.c.k me and then i finally heard it and im 20 years old and i look for exciting things like that and i have 2 little sisters that think im the best and they are 10 and 6, and both google lyrics for all the song they like so they can come over to my appt and play prelease cd and proformance. and i think its great they study that. but if they saw that drop down like i did becuase you stupid people who dont have anything better to do other then ruining britney’s life and by the way Alexander Kronlund wrote and produced the song, and i bet britney didnt get it at first untill someone told her. so you people complaining should write a song and i will fine something really dirty. Jesus leave her alone.

Holly | 1/26/2009, 7:22 pm EST

So parents don’t want their kids to hear this song on the radio? It’s one song that plays maybe once every few hours…
… As compared to, oh I don’t know, the station that plays nonstop hip-hop & rap? A station which is -even when edited- gonna be just as worse in lyrical content as Britney’s new song.

Seriously.

ROFL!
Britney knows about it, it does say FUCK ME if you say it fast. I never paid attention till I heard about it.
Stop worrying about Britney

Cece | 1/27/2009, 3:14 am EST

I consider myself to be a highly educated individual. I teach spin classes for extra money outside of med school and I play this song all the time in class. Sadly, it never even occured to me that “if you seek amy” had any underlying conotation. However, only after reading this article and carefully listening to the song a few more time, did I actually hear what these people are talking about.

Britney is now a grown and sexy woman, most “boys and girls” like to “if you seek amy” grown and sexy women. Let her sing about it, I find it very clever that she got it past us this long.

In addition, what about the white dude that talked about “if you seeking” playboy bunnies and doing drugs and how phenomenal it was to be a rockstar? I forgot, its just fun to attack Britney. Wow.

Bre | 1/27/2009, 9:16 am EST

I’m 18 and totally had no idea whtat people were talking about when I saw this on the news this morning! Then I got on here and googled it…and I get it now. I think it’s hilarious! People need to get over themselves. It’s just a song.

SJMom | 1/27/2009, 11:22 am EST

Presto Massey said ” Parents just need to shut the f*** up…” Actually, parents agreeing with the PTC should “If you seek themselves” ;-) Some of my favorite songs in the 70’s and 80’s were ‘Big 10 inch’ by Aerosmith, ‘Get Down Make Love’ by Queen, and ‘Go All the Way’ by the Raspberries. Someone needs to make a remix of ‘Go All the Way’. I loved that song! Seriously, I sung those songs, attended those groups concerts, bought those albums, didn’t smoke pot, graduated from high school and college with high A averages and didn’t lose my virginity till I was an adult. Song lyrics do not influence a teen as much as the eighteen years parents have to raise them into adults. Way too much hostility over a clearly packaged publicity stunt. Go Brit.

i dont think its innapropriate for kids im thirteen and in a f home and my parents are very overprotected and they let me listen to it so you guys f off

dont be stupid
it can´t be banned of the radios at all
it´s a great song
and it´s not innapropriate for kids
nowadays our kids knows many things than kids long time ago
and its not gonna be a song that will change their mind
don´t be stupid
i love the chorus all the boys and allthe girls are begging to if u seek amy

TJ | 1/27/2009, 1:44 pm EST

This song is such a great track….Parents these days are so retarded…..There are so many other songs out there that are worse than “If U Seek Amy”…..even back in the 80’s I bet these same parents listened to songs that had similar inuendos…..Plus kids hear worse things in thier homes and school system and see worse things on the news….Parents just need to cool it and let it play b/c i bet kids will still hear it past the 10pm time and they may already have it on CD or even dowloaded it….there is no way to stop this song from being played! I LOVE YA BRITNEY!

Jose | 1/27/2009, 1:48 pm EST

Britney Is One Of The Best And Most Controversial Artist In America. Parents SHOULD Know That Britney Spears Music Is NOT For Kids Anymore.

please….grow up

Dave | 1/27/2009, 2:54 pm EST

Britney Spears sucks. but I’d still seek her amy.

THE TRUTH! | 1/27/2009, 3:16 pm EST

It does sound like it but seriously look at the lyrics before you go all out of porportion!!!! People are way to paranoid today! If you dont want your children listening to it then dont let them. I want to hear this on the radio!!! I dont care what she says because she ISNT saying F-U-C-K ME!!!!!!

Music Industry Pro | 1/27/2009, 6:10 pm EST

Wow! This is what it is! And it has obviously worked!! This song is a gimmick dreamed up by some marketing pro to get Britney back in the mix. “Hit Me One More Time” and “Ooops…” were the same thing! Gimmicks! There’s no real talent here but it is ENTERTAINING and does cause an uproar! Haven’t you heard, you don’t have to be liked or agreed with – Just talked about – ALOT!! She’s gonna make another 100 million. On the other hand – take a listen to Christina Aguilara’s stuff! That girl has talent. OK, yeah, she uses the whole marylin monroe platinum blonde thing – but she does have pipes!!! Britney’s an idiot with great management! She, personally, will end up broke and an idustry joke but her management – Man, I’d be their assistant for 2 percent.
Out!

kasombra | 1/27/2009, 7:46 pm EST

r you guys really serious i’m 15 and if ppl wouldn’t have talked about it then I wouldn’t even of known about the freaking song your just making more kids liten to it and explaining the meaning to them

Kara | 1/27/2009, 8:43 pm EST

I get why such a big deal is made over the song and as much as I’d like for the innocent kids to not have to listen to this garbage, it just won’t happen. In our generation, we already have enough rappers and hiphop artists spewing F-bombs and talking about sex and violence and such. And its not just the radio, explicit images and speech are used on the streets, in the media, and everywhere else. It can’t be avoided.

The only thing I’d have problems with is if my 9 year old child sings the chorus of this song without knowing the meaning. but it can just be explained and advised against. Every kid has to grow up some day and if society forces him/her to grow up early, there’s nothing we can do to prevent it.

kailee | 1/27/2009, 8:56 pm EST

guess what, go to your kids school.
you will hear MUCH more than fuck me.

honestly, let your children grow up. if your ogna be overprotective; simply dont let your own kid listen to it. sucks for them.

MORGAN | 1/27/2009, 10:18 pm EST

this is how it starts. by using the word once, and think it’s OK. Well it’s not OK. We wonder why our children are out of control, why our children don’t listen, why our children are failing, well folks, it’s because we need to raise the bar with our children. Are we raising the bar when we allow our children to hear such language and say it’s OK. Just how do you think Britney got to this point. It does not happen over night. Nope it’s a slow fade… It started way back when Britney’s parents allowed her to uh, let’s see….allow her a breast implant as a teenager, probably allow her to use the foul language herself, and probably a lot of other no no’s for any teenager, but becasue she was bringing in the money, she called the shots. And look where those shots have gotten her. Britney herself is out of control. But guess what folks, all of you who listen to her music, support her you are saying you agree with her and her lifestyle, why do you think she is still around, because you support her. So guess what don’t complain when your children are failing, cursing, fighting, etc. Remember when you first allowed your child to listen to this, and remember that’s just the beginning.

At first i didn’t understand what all of the buzz was about but after going to this site I finally got the sexual innuendo. While I think it’s an iniquitous song for young kids to be listening to inadvertently, I think the absolute banning of the song will just make matters worse as it will draw the uncanny curiosity of children. Once they have understood the full implications of the meaning, I believe it will run ramped in the rumor mill of the school systems. However, the banning of this one song won’t change the effects the media is having on children; as there are numerous outlets containing messages of sex, sexiness, violence, drugs, etc. I think that behind the opposition of this one song lies the basis of the fundamental problem in todays society; the overexposure children are receiving by the media. As evidence of this just turn on the tv. What do you see? mostly mindless reality shows conveying images everywhere of sexy models and advertisements of what to buy so that you’ll be “beautiful” by societies standards. These incessant images that are depicted by the media exemplify the materialistic society that has emerged as a result of the establishment of modern day media. Children are now growing up faster because of all the marketing and undefined social etiquette bombarding them from all sides, which of themselves are inspiring the belief of children in the notion that in order to be “cool” and “sexy” they need to act a certain way and conform to the norms set by society. The modern media is dumbing down American society, and since propaganda such as this will keep the money flowing in the prosperous music industry/media in general; and the quintessence of the majority of things seen/heard in the media begets the underlying image of sex and adhering to societies standard of “sexy”, i doubt acts like these will cease to exist anytime soon.

Being 15, I have seen the effects the media is having on children and of people of my own age. I look online and see the stupid things people watch/listen to and it disheartens me to see what we as Americans have come to. Even I can occasionally be guilty of watching brain-cell-destroying TV and other nugatory forms of entertainment; and conforming somewhat to societal norms.

it takes less then 3 secs to change the radio station. when the song starts just switch to a different channel
and kids now a days are not as innocent as parents believe them to be.
if only they could hear the things grade 3-5 kids talk about.
its just a song and its quite good.. the more the media talks about it the more publicity it gets and more of a hit it becomes and now that its eveyrwhere more and more kids are inclined to typing IF YOU SEEK AMY on GOOGLE and finding out than before where they would have just thought AMY was lost ..
the media is nasty

People need to stop trying to have celebrities raise your kids. If a parent wants this song banned from peak hours on the radio then you my friend are no parent at all.

Take responsibility as parents and turn the radio off or not buy your children the album. Stop ruining things for those of us that are of age and suitable to listen to it.

No one is complanimg about all the rap songs that at 100x worse then this that are played just as much as If You Aeek Amy.

I Dont Understand all this Drama over one song after all what do you kids acctually here on the radio what do u think its PBS songs from Barney and his pals please 4 year olds start singing songs about a guy having sex with a girl please. IF YOU SEEK AMY has nothing to do with SEX and has nothing to do with IF YOUR SEEKING SOMEONES VAGINA so The Parents who are freaking out please u probally listen to worse music then your kid does so leave Ms Spears Alone after all she is in her comeback and no one wants this to be ruined over some idiots of parents who want to have there mind in the gutter because i kno they want to SEEK AMY

Kimberly | 1/28/2009, 5:03 am EST

And she is making so if you do not want your child to here it then it’s your probleom because you 50 cent make vedio of cursing and with naked girl on top of him, but I don’t see all the parents complaying. Ok let her song be played because I just heard it and I thing is alsome.

It’s crazy, that people want to have this song banned, but it’s okay to say “I want you to lick me like a lollipop” REALLY? If you don’t like the song, like many other people have said below me, change it. Don’t allow your kids to listen to that particular station. Don’t listen to it yourself. Stop being afraid of sex and talking about it, because there are a lot of bigger fish to fry, rather than talking about a britney spears song that will fade into the background in a couple months.

Non Yo Biz | 1/28/2009, 9:23 pm EST

FUCK YEAH!! She can do & say whatever she wants in her songs. Children are exposed to all sorts of crud growing up whether we like it or not…what’s another explicit song gonna do?? My 3 1/2 year old loves that song!! So what…fuck you…don’t need ur opinion on what my child should listen too. Don’t be hatin on Britney!! I am also takin my 3 1/2 year old (that’s right 3 1/2) to her concert in April!! Screw all ya haters!!

ur kids will rebel trust me | 1/28/2009, 9:38 pm EST

honestly who cares if kids hear this song i mean really they’re only gunna hear it later in life and when they finally have they’re freedom from you over protective bitches they will just explode… this is how nymphomanics and other problems are created… so if u dont want your daughter to be pregnate at 16 ease up on the protection a bit… let them date if they want to date at 10 12 or whenever they are interested in the opposite gender… it will help them in the long run because face it people do the wrong things for the thrill, the deprivation, and curiosity.. expose your children!

Nick! | 1/29/2009, 1:13 am EST

Let the song be on the radio most kids heard worse and the song doesn’t have anything bad in it sure it sounds like “fuck” but it’s not so American parents grow some balls and get over it and it is a real great song if you need something to complain about complain about some of those rap songs

i am not saying anything for or against this song but, i have heard songs that have this word and others in it as well. this song is sort of not so open about the word as other songs so, i think that if you ban this one then there are a whole lot more that have to go with it.

lol | 1/31/2009, 9:15 am EST

people needa get over it its just a sing snd there more pressing things than one song to deal with in america, people really need to get their priorities straight!

Richard | 1/31/2009, 8:08 pm EST

This is quite sad. The title of the song is ‘If You Seek Amy’. If you say that properly and with the correct intonation and word stress you will obviously see that she says ‘if you seek Amy’. Perhaps, it is true that when she is singing this song she does sing that part a bit fast but ‘if’ and ‘F’ sound not even closely related. ‘if’ and /ef/…….see the difference. Now, if she does say f-u-c-k me, why is that wrong? She does not come out and say ‘fuck’. Honestly, I would have never thought anything about a hidden meaning had I not heard about the whole controversy.
Do the parents that are complaining and trashing Britney realize she did not write that song?
It is an awesome song and the meaning of the song is subjective. It can be interpreted according to each person’s own opinion.
Once again, had no one commented on this song and some supposed hidden meaning then there would be nothing in the news about this, no one would be talking about it, and I wouldn’t be writing this comment.
If the parents who don’t like their children to hear that song then thay should just not give their children access to the radio, don’t buy Britney’s album for them, and don’t allow them to use internet.

Please, Britney DOES not say (ɛf)-(uː)-/si:/-/keː/ me, she says ‘(ɪf) (uː) (siːk) (eː-mee).

You will notice that seek is one single sound as is Amy. and c k me are a different stress.

Just give it up and leave it alone.

13 going on 30 | 1/31/2009, 8:43 pm EST

If you band the song that would be the worst thing you could do. All if the kids would want to listen to it more. Anyways it says if not f I no they sound the same. I still do not believe Britney had no intension of meaning that despite her behavior in the past. I think the poor girl needs a brake from the press. Let her have her stardom the right way for once. The truth is that a lot of other songs have more suggestive lyrics than “If You Seek Amy.” I did not even understand what was wrong with it until I saw this page.

i listened to the song the other day and actually like it didn’t understand what ppl were complaining about and i still didn’t quite get it until i got online and saw someone spell it out. so come on i’m 25 and i didn’t get it how are 12 yr olds going to hear that? i don’t know but i think ppl are blowing this way outta proportion. give it up.

janeypainy | 1/31/2009, 10:29 pm EST

geez, shez going to make a lotta loot off this song. everyone knows that if a song gets banned it only makes people more interested, hence more money to line her pockets!

Rap ruined all the music. | 2/1/2009, 12:46 pm EST

My nephew was playing this song. And all of a sudden he got red. I heard it clearly. I didn’t say anything then he explained Britney was at a club wanting to fight Amy. Whatever. It’s stupid. She sucks and her whole career was seeming innocent but really being trashy. It’s about the whole slutty oh I am also bi trend going around. All these songs, all of those nasty songs are teaching kids that’s sex is nothing just a syllable. Wait till your kids come home with news your are a grandparent. You’ll wonder.

blah blah crap | 2/1/2009, 8:02 pm EST

What a total DOUBLE STANDARD! Those bunch of parents who complained about this song has got nothing better to do is it? Why should the radio cater to your children needs?
Get a life. STOP being ridiculously shallow. There’s such thing as remote control. It is invented for what? Use it stupid.

G | 2/1/2009, 9:55 pm EST

It’s really quite obvious that this song was written for the pure reason of controversy. Controversy means publicity, publicity means curiosity, curiosity means money. I’m sick of hearing people say, “Oh, she’s so clever, oh she was so smart and brilliant to do something like that.” I had high school sophomores in my chemistry class spelling the F word with the element symbols. It doesn’t take a genius to think of something like that, and I think it’s disgusting that she’s being praised for coming up with a stupid play on words to stir up more controversy, which she seems very good at doing. She’s not brilliant for sliding past the indecency law, she’s just showing that she’s competent enough to think like a fifteen year old. If that’s the standard of brilliance in our society, I don’t want to think of what a genius Former President George W Bush must have been in comparison.

Nel | 2/2/2009, 12:30 am EST

People, get over it!!! There are so many more important issues that we need to put our time and energy into. It’s just a song, and I think it’s pretty good. it’s catchy and fun to sing to.

snoop dogg | 2/2/2009, 6:12 am EST

I like it, its a catchy song!
And really even if she did outright swear its not really a big deal as so many artists do.

Michael | 2/2/2009, 3:05 pm EST

Seriously? No really. Seriously? Parents are making a big deal out of THIS song? This song is Disney Radio safe when compared to Lil Wayne’s “lollipop,” Khia’s “My Neck My Back,” and the list goes on from there. I have listened to this song, and am I the ONLY one who doesn’t hear “F-U-C-K Me”? Am I?

Hardhead | 2/2/2009, 4:27 pm EST

I’m up with the long article above from The Big Drrrraaaaaaag. Read it. It’s right on. Talk to lots of peeps and they say everything’s OK, let me do what I want, I live life how I want. Then it all changes when they have their own kids and suddenly it comes to them…. If they have the balls to admit it: that standards are good, and that you wouldn’t be in the crap their in if someone would have set up some boundaries for you. See what you feel like, pops, when your little girl who you used to dress in pink for easter dinner sluts herself out to every bone head who in it for one thing. But you won’t have the balls to admit you had something to do with it. And when your little boy who you remember playing some t-ball is now playing with crack viles, strung out, yelling at you all the time and now you got to send him to some in house. You had a part in that for not drawing boundaries, dude. Whatev…

liverchick | 2/3/2009, 3:55 pm EST

brit is amazin
i never even kew tht it spelt f-u-c-k me. it not important fo ppl to make such a big deal out of it
if you dnt want your kids to hear it turn off the tv when it comes on
it as simple as that.

otaku | 2/3/2009, 10:47 pm EST

OHHHHH so that’s the story behind this song??? I had no clue… puuuulease…. I loved this song when I first heard it… I’m so slow then because I just realized that the title spells out F-U-C-K-Me!!! I honestly thought that the song was about Amy…. wow… wow… I’m amazed with myself… but come on!! It’s still a clever song and it’s sooo awesome! I’m surprised kids these days are figuring this shit out, parents should be worrying about that LMFAO!

SpkrFone | 2/4/2009, 10:24 am EST

regardless i mean like its stupid… if you dotn want to hear it dont listen, dont want your kids to hear it monitor what they listen to. because honestly majority of people in the world would not point that out until someone says hey this song really says f u c k me…. most would just sing along iof you seek amy because its not really likely but however if you tell someone hey it says f u c k me then everyone is ike omg it does that so clever you’re so right… so jsut stop running your mouth and sing the damn song the way it is if you liek it.

Girl | 2/4/2009, 1:40 pm EST

Oh god, leave this chick alone.

It is a clever song, and even as an extremely highly sexually-active 19 year old woman (;), I didn’t catch it until now. If a young child can catch it upon first hearing, its not the song’s fault, obviously something has been exposed to the child previously.

Howabout any other song that ever had sexual innuendo?
“I’ll let you lick my lollipop” OH, i wonder WHAT THAT MEANS? Andddd, children like candy shops and lollipops more then anything, so, why wasn’t anyone freaking out to 50?
I can just see an innocent 8 year old girl: “Mommy! IIIII want to lick the lollipop!” Seriously, haha.
Howabout Kings of Leons: Sex on Fire?
“if its not forever, if its just tonight, oh its still the greatest”
“You, your sex is on fire.”
I’ve heard no fuss about that one, even though it openly talks about sex.
I even remember singing a religious song in choir in high school that had sexual innuendo all over it.

Honestly, parents:
Eventually, YOUR KIDS ARE GOING TO HAVE SEX. It’s natural, it’s great. A song will not influence their decision, or taint their views on it. It’s safe to say 98% at least, of them won’t even know what the song is about, unless previously informed about it.

People just love picking on Britney Spears.
Let it go.

Jerry NJ | 2/4/2009, 7:18 pm EST

She has no freakin talent if she has to do kindergarten shit to get attention. It’s as simple as that. I’m a DJ for cryin out loud and I won’t play this talentless crap. I’d rather play Lady GaGa who actually has some talent. The people on here that are supportive of Miss Britney can’t seem to If-You-See-Kay-ing SPELL either. Give me decent musical rap like Kanye or great vocals like Christina or Mariah…

Whoa | 2/5/2009, 4:48 am EST

To you kids who keep saying Just don’t listen, Monitor your kids, Freedom of speech: Have you thought about what you’re saying to be sure it makes sense?

How can people monitor their kids 24/7 when their kids are going to school, etc.? They would have to be like God to do that.

How can you “just not listen” if it’s played at a restaurant? Walk out of the restaurant and leave your food half-finished? Attack the stereo system?

Freedom of speech–Ha ha, and you think the people who be hatin’ on Britney should shut up! You’re just repeating the type of thing you’ve heard without really understanding it yet–it doesn’t work like that.

People CAN complain, either using decency laws which the government can be encouraged to uphold, or using their own influence as a group of ordinary people to pressure broadcasters. (Because advertisers may listen to them.)

If you stop listing to lame songs for just a few minutes and look up some information, you can understand how all this works. Then you’ll be smarter than Britney! (Well, at least smarter than some of her fans.)

BritFan | 2/5/2009, 12:21 pm EST

People read too much into song lyrics, trying to bring an artist on a comeback. By the way, if that is the meaning of the song that Britney is trying to express, then let her go for it. What about all of the horrible rap songs that say pretty much the same thing and worse!?!

Kids have access to iTunes. They have friends that listen to this stuff when they’re in a group. You can’t censor everything. You can’t just shut the spigot off. It’s not that easy. Anyone with kids knows what I’m talking about. People just keep allowing the bar to be lower and lower instead of higher. The excuse about other rap songs being worse doesn’t justify anything – some of that stuff is garbage too. I’m pretty liberal with this stuff generally, but I’m all for TALENT. Raise the bar.

seriously | 2/5/2009, 2:00 pm EST

Seriously? people complain about anything britney spears does. it absolutely blows my mind how people can get so much happiness out of watching her in misery. She’s finally turned her life around and is back on top, and people are trying to ruin her again. My little sister sings the song and doesn’t understand what it means. People if you don’t like the song, don’t listen to it. It’s pure genius that anyone thought of those lyrics and if you can’t appreciate them, then listen to something else. Just lay off britney.

What do you think is going to happen to your kid when they listen to this song? Seriously? Have you even LISTENED to this song? I have three kids who love this song, they’re all doing well in school, well behaved, and hang with the right crowd. I couldn’t ask for better kids, but if you HONESTLY believe one song is going to change your kid for the worse, then please lock them in their room, and throw away the key. Let’s shelter them from Britney Spears: The Antichrist.

I don’t care either way about the song the lyrics, its her thing whatever, she didnt write it for god sake people dont go around calling her a GENIUS for crying out loud, she just had the guts to sing these lyrics written by someone else, whatever. My problem is with the DJ guy who defended LADY GAGA for crying out loud! Who has the following lyrics in the song she sings with NKOTB “Beat me Spank Me Daddy Come on Touch My Body” oh yeah…so much better!

The greatest tactic the devil uses is convince us he doesn’t exist. Now before ya’ll get all exited I’m not calling Brittany Spears the devil. What I am saying is that the immoral state our society is in IS the work of the devil and this is how he works. The fact that everyone says well its been going on forever so who cares just get over it shows that its working. You dont see the evil behind it.And if you think kids gont get it, you’re living in a fantasy land, they do get it and its because of parents who say “well its not really going to hurt anyone if they listen” Botom line folks, if you throw a frong in a pot of boiling water the frog will jump out. If you put a frog in a pot of cold water then set it on the stove, the frog will just sit in the water as it heats up, he wont even notice it’s getting hotter until eventually you got a boiled frog. Guess what? the water is starting to boil my friends.

it rips me up that people actually argue and argue and argue about stuff like this–everyone has an opinion! good grief!!! As a 24 year old fan of Britney’s, I think this song rocks (((my opinion))) I can totally understand if parents don’t agree with some of the lyrics on her album, but I can also disagree with things like “I can’t monitor what my children listens to 24-7″ ok yeah, but you can the majority of the time keep track of what your child is listening to. My parents were very limited to what I listened to growing up and they weren’t with me 24-7…and if I came home humming a song they knew wasn’t appropriate for me, you bet they found out who I heard it from and made sure that particular kid wasn’t invited to my sleepovers!! haha… If you don’t want your kids listening to Britney, than don’t get them the CD…and if your afraid they are gonna hear it at a friends house—maybe those aren’t the friends they should be hanging out with. You’re the parent- set the rules!!!

I love Britney and would listen to her if she said fuck in all of her songs..OR none of them. Stop arguing stupid things. It’s not that big a deal. If your kids don’t learn it on the radio, guess what! they’ll learn it somewhere else. I did..and so will they. It’s life. It’s reality. Accept it and move on people.

Wowzah! | 2/10/2009, 12:08 pm EST

This has gotten a little bot crazy, and I just have a few things to say. Take it or leave it.

Parents, I promise, most kids really won’t notice. As a lot of others have said, if your child was able to pick up on this right away, when they heard it, then obviously, you are doing something wrong. I am 19 years old, and I didn’t even realize it until someone spelled it out to me, and even then it took me a few tries to actually hear it.

DJs, don’t let people with too much time on their hands prevent you from playing a perfectly good song.

Everyone else, Just enjoy it. It’s a fun song… and who actually listens to Britney for her brilliant lyrics anyways. Its a song for fun people. Please move on.

Jack L | 2/11/2009, 12:34 am EST

Im 17 years old 11th grader in high school and alot of my classmates still think the lyrics are talking about a girl named amy..haah….if 14,15,16,17,and 18 year olds cand figure it out on their own im pretty sure a little kid wont find out on his/her own they would need help from someone else..so i think the should keep playing it on the radio whenever requested by us who actually like the song

SchoolGirl | 2/12/2009, 1:47 pm EST

I honestly didn’t even notice the significance of the title when I first listened to the song. I was actually confused as to why she was talking about a girl! Haha, I thought she was making reference to Amy Winehouse. Hahah. But really, it’s not that huge of a deal, I mean half the songs played on the radio are way worse then a song with sexual innuendos. I mean really, how is it any worse then the song, ‘If I have one more drink, I’m gonna end up fucking you.’ Exactly.

Britney is sick. She tried to kill her own baby, she is sex obsessed mentally dysfunctional sick woman. Why are we putting anything she makes out on the radio? It should be studied by psychiatrist. Her focus is sex cause that is the only thing she can do. There is no purpose for her in society. If a normal mother would have tried to kill a child she would be in a mental health facility, not influencing the nation’s youth.

DeX | 2/13/2009, 2:19 pm EST

Ye Britney Rocks XD
IF you seek Amy is her best song to date
I hope it goes to no.1 and sicken all the haters

HAHA | 2/13/2009, 2:53 pm EST

I’m a senior in high school, 17 years old, and didn’t realize the title off the bat until reading comments on a forum.

Then, I’ve played the song for friends of my age and some older, and showed them the title and they didn’t get it until I had to prompt and pressure til they eventually realized.

The song is not bad, it’s catchy Pop. It’s what Britney is known for, and obviously she’s selling millions and getting hit singles, it’s what people like and want. For those trying to use the whole “talent” thing, Britney’s talent is what she does. Her dancing, her lyrics (though they’ve obviously and understandably have not been used lately), her music videos. She is an Icon. She doesn’t need a power house voice that will only have her struggling like Christina Aguilera & Mariah Carey have.

If you seriously don’t like the song, it’s clever meaning, and/or Britney, leave it alone. However, the 10 million people buying her records, albums, singles right now will continue to, and if it hurts you so much then kill yourself.

Pandora | 2/13/2009, 4:12 pm EST

Umm HELLO?! Does anyone actually LISTEN to the song? It’s not about a girl named Amy, or necessarily about sex. It’s about a girl who has a darker side-Amy is what she’s named her wildside. We all have one, don’t lie. Not exactly a split personality, just sort of her badgirl side. She’s looking for her badgirl to come out, she wants to get into trouble. No, this doesn’t mean sex. Listen to the song people.

AMY | 2/13/2009, 5:24 pm EST

People can say what they want about Brit and her lyrics, but who is the successful one, Huh……
All you people and your overestimating, overcatastrophizing mental problems should not listen to, or even comment on Art like this.
Brit is clever, and most likely just laughs at your self righteous morality. Get with the 21st century you bigots, or die.
Or find a new hobby- dummies.

AJ | 2/13/2009, 5:49 pm EST

This song is disgusting and so is every other talentless music artist (if you can call them that) who has to use vulgarity in their songs so people will like them.

Crap like this is sometimes unavoidable. I can’t stand it when I am stuck in traffic or in public and songs like this are played (I am not just picking on Britney Spears).

People are so quick to argue that keeping stuff like this off of the radio violates freedom of speech…what about the people who do not want to hear this crap?

There’s way worse on tv and the radio than a clever title to a song. CHILDREN should in no way be listening to Britney Spears. Her songs have grown just as her audience has. If your a parent letting your little girl listen to Britney Spears while she’s singing “Gimme More”, there is something seriously wrong with your parenting! CHILDREN need guidance, so put down the cell phone and guide them!

then i fianlly saw some comments on another wesite and got it.

I’m 33 and pretty darned dirty minded and I could not for the life of me figure out why the dj said the song was controversial. I kept listening closely every time it was played and still could not get it. The dj even said it was the title that was the problem. So, here I am. I had to google it to figure it out. The song is quite catchy, btw.

wtf?!?! | 2/17/2009, 10:50 pm EST

People are wayyy overreacting. If you don’t want your children to be listening to this then just turn the dial! It’s just the same with TV..if you don’t want your child watching it then don’t let them! What about shows like “A Shot at Love”, etc? I didn’t even notice the title of the song until someone told me, and I’m sure that’s the case for a lot of people to. The title of the song is quite creative actually.

Corinne | 2/17/2009, 11:32 pm EST

Firstly, in response to Lee’s comment (1/22/2009, 12:40pm EST), and to other slow people who STILL don’t get it… It’s not so much about the spelling of the title that gives the letters F,U,C,K, ME. It’s more that the title *sounds* like she’s saying those letters. i.e. IF = F; You = U; See = C; k A = K; my = Me.

Secondly,I don’t see why parents should be making such a big deal out of it – Why would kids even realize what it spells, let alone even understand what F*CK ME means, anyway?! And even if they DO understand it, then is it really Britney’s fault? The kids could’ve easily learnt it from somewhere else! Maybe the parents should take more responsibility for what their kids hear, see & learn elsewhere too.
It’s ridiculous because you don’t hear parents complaining about other songs, e.g. Metro Station’s song “Shake It” which contains these lyrics: “We’re on the bed, but your clothes are lying right there”! Or what about Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire”? Or even Black Eyed Peas “Sex”? (look up the lyrics to the Black Eyed Peas song, they’re FAR more raunchy and sexually explicit than Britney’s song!)
I reckon the parents are complaining this time just because it’s Britney.

leanne | 2/18/2009, 8:39 am EST

well to tell you the truth i didnt even notice until some one told me about the song i think that people are making a big ass deal about a song that could have gotten away with it if no one made it so obvious what she was really saying and personally i like the song and every other one on the circus album …..parents who dont want there kids to listen to that song change the station thats all that is if your pissed of because of her song move on its not like the kids understand i have an 8 and 5 year old and they love britney do you really think they sit there and analyze the freaking song , no they hear it sing it and move on they dont wonder what the hell shes saying i dont even think they care ….not what will piss me off is they dam news making it so obvious to what shes saying i think the song should be played a million and 5 times and i give props to britney for doing something so clever if you ask me

hahahaha | 2/18/2009, 12:48 pm EST

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha………..gro w up people

Karen | 2/18/2009, 1:17 pm EST

I think it’s rediculous for parents to suddenly just up and stand when they are finally confronted with an issue. People like that are complete morons.

Parents, do you REALLY think that your kid is that innocent? I bet a ton of them are having sex already. You guys are blind to your own child’s flaws and are constantly taking their side. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t, but can’t you open your eyes for once?

One little song isn’t going to have that big of an effect! In fact, I bet a majority of the parents who complain have already pushed their children to an edge, either spoiling them or monitoring their every move.

Those kids are going to be trash in society regardless of one measley song recieving air play.

Oh, and what was that about Britney supporters not being able to write correctly?

…You poor ignorant moron.

... | 2/18/2009, 1:21 pm EST

People have too much time on their hands, Why don’t they learn to knit or something?

BAD WORDS | 2/18/2009, 4:19 pm EST

How about we just set a seperate station for the shit people call “music”? That would please the people who make this crap, and it would please the idiots who think this is music. Eventually it wont matter anymore; the worlds upgrading. How many people really listen to the radio? Should we destroy our CD players? Our i-pods? NO. Now grow up and teach the people you call “artists” some respect for music. FUCK is used often. But FUCK should never be used in this content. It’s how Spears feels, it should not be related to public radio considering it gets all these idiots shoving fingers in places we dare not mention. Maybe teach your kids to accept the good with the bad. Or even better, maybe become the person who allows this SHIT to be aired. Bad idea?

Brittany | 2/18/2009, 5:49 pm EST

This is stupid. Its a song. Who cares? Kids already know what it means, and the music isnt going to change anything. It doesnt even spell F-U-C-K me, theres no c. As for Britney, its music and she is doing what makes her happy, so who are you to say anything about it. Parents are rediculously over-protective today and the sluts in school are the kids with parents like this. The more you tell your kid no, the more they say yes. They always push back, it doesnt take a genious to figure that one out. As for “12 year old” you can be quiet because clearly by the way your writting and your age, you are not mature enough to be discusing this anyways, and “a catholic youth minister” can-it. No one beleives in religion that intensely anymore, considering evolution is proven, and most of it is scientificly impossible bullshit, so you just sound retarded. Get a life, get a girl and get some game.

I LOVE THIS SONG…I THINK ITS HILARIOUS THAT IT HAS A “HIDDEN” MESSAGE IN IT! AND I THINK PARENTS NEED TO CHILL, MY 14 YR OLD SISTER THINKS ITS A SONG ABOUT SOME CHICK NAMED AMY..HELL EVEN I THOUGHT IT WAS UNTIL I GOOGLED TO FIND OUT WHO AMY WAS AND CAME ACROSS THESE WEBSITE THAT POINT IT OUT…ITS GREAT..KEEP IT UP BRITNEY!!

RE: whoa | 2/19/2009, 9:51 pm EST

In response to the comment “If you stop listing to lame songs for just a few minutes and look up some information, you can understand how all this works. Then you’ll be smarter than Britney!”.. I’m a Britney fan who majored in broadcast communications and attended law school… so I think I understand how all this works.

The FCC states that for material to be “indecent” it has to depict or describe sexual or excretory organs or activities in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium.

In other words… the sexual innuendo that this song supposedly has is not close to being considered patently offensive with all of the other songs that are played on the radio at all times of the day.

And I just think it’s funny that now this controversy is making Britney more and more money as we speak since people are downloading it just to figure out what all the talk is about. So I think the whole goal of the PTC has completely backfired.

dude2 | 2/19/2009, 10:10 pm EST

“publicly owned airwaves” my arse. the fcc-mandated digital tv transition (that only directly affects 15% of american television-watchers) will make a bunch of private companies a bunch of money with a public resource when the radio spectrum is re-allocated. that profit sure isn’t meant to make pbs solvent…

miiNamezAMY | 2/20/2009, 2:24 pm EST

oh.em.gee. parents need to stop critizizing britney. i’m not a big fan because that’s obviously chris crocker but anywayz, parents need to open up thier eyez despite the love they have for thier kidz. bet ya kidz ain’t so innocent, follow them or really secretely snoop and try to find info of ya childs life…if ya kidz think ya dum and ya’ll never find out what they doin then i wish ya was my parent! [not.] stop getting on britney she’s another music artist…if ya wanna get on music lyrics then start getting on all the artist not just single out one…stop the bs and get over it already.

miiNamezAMY | 2/20/2009, 2:28 pm EST

i bet those parents think thier kids don’t know the whole song when really they know it by heart! uh-oh britney does it again!!!! no oopz, no excuse it’s just the truth! parents who have a prob with this ya have 2 choices or more lol…get over it, or take ya childs radio away don’t let them listen to pop radio ya tart faces lol…if ya make this a big prob ya just helping britney spears with her career and music sales…lol

stop being stupid | 2/20/2009, 7:48 pm EST

your kids hear worse in the hallways of their school and probably somes times out of your own mouths so shut up! if you dont want to hear it then change the radio station. i know there are plenty of other stations that you can listen to you dont have to listen it. no one is forcing you. so just dont. its that simple. youre being stupid. quit over reacting and just simply change the station. its not a big deal unless you make it a big deal.

To parents that think they can not monitor public radio. It is called a cd player, or tape deck, every car built in the last 20 years has one. If you don’t want to listen to same music all the time, the pay for your radio and get a children’s radio station. From day until night fun sing-alongs.

See that is the problem, parents don’t want to listen to children’s music or their boring TV shows. They want to watch things that entertain themselves, but have nothing bad in it so they don’t have to send the kids away. You need to grow up and realize you can’t have both it will either be boring for you or bad for your children.

When you have kids you have to sacrifice for their sake. Do you think that I want to watch the same Baby Einstein videos 100’s of times? Or on my day off have to see Blue’s Clues or Sid the Science kid all day long? Of course not I want to watch the TV shows I have saved on my DVR for me.

But I don’t I watch kid friendly TV at any point that she would be watching it, because she loves it. Or we just don’t have any media on at all and we just play. Unless you are letting someone else raise your child for you, yes you can monitor everything. And if you are letting someone take care of them, you can tell them what they are allowed and not allowed to let your children hear and see. If they don’t listen to you. You fired them.

Me. | 2/21/2009, 2:05 pm EST

To all you people saying “she’s not saying fuck me”

screw you.. stop being so naive.

That is completely what she is saying.

It’s a play on words.

It’s stupid, and it’s a desperate cry for attention.

jonathan | 2/21/2009, 8:44 pm EST

Why all like to pick on Britney when she is doing good again. There are others songs out there that are more dirty than If U Seek Amy so stop hatin on Britney Spears.

Bullshit dude | 2/22/2009, 9:53 am EST

I’ve heard this song 10+ times without even realizing what it says. When I was on my way to a cheerleading competition, we were listening to this song. Someone pointed out what it said and I laughed my ass off.

Its just a play on words and I find it incredibly clever.

Honestly, your opinion of this song doesn’t even matter. Theyre still going to play it on the radio and your kids are still going to fucking sing it. Get over it already.

Im digging this song.
If You Seek Amy – F.U.C.K me
Either ones funny as hell to listen to. If you dont wanna hear it, dont. Its not like Birtney spears is holding a Jukbox to your ears.

Stop bitching.
Your waisting your time complaining about it.

Meg | 2/22/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Okay, I’m not a big Britney fan, but I mean.. come on. What’s the big deal?

It sounds like she is singing F-U-C-K ME but she’s singing IF YOU SEEK AMY. I don’t understand why parents are making a huge deal over this song.. There are worse songs out there than this one.
example; Lil’ Wayne’s song Lollipop.
“she licked me like a lollipop.”
really now? I don’t see parents begging for that one to get off the air.

and all the songs nowadays are pretty suggestive. why pick out this one song?
like really now, people.

if it comes on the radio, and you dont want to hear it, turn the damn station.

Anne | 2/22/2009, 4:38 pm EST

This is a great song. I don’t see the problem.
The video sober by pink is worse and you don’t hear people about that.
Even Christina Aguilera sings about sex and more explicit then Britney, but no one is complaining about that.
I don’t know why they are hating Britney so much!

Britney is still a FOX, and I frikkin love her BAD. If she was my girl, I would be lickin’ amd suckin’ and squeezin’ and kissin’ her, and massaging her everywhere, every day. Guaranteed 100 per cent. Anybody who doesn’t think she’s way hot is blind. And I can’t say anything but get out of my way. She’s creamy-sexy-yummy-hot…

Jenna Bender | 2/25/2009, 5:46 pm EST

First off, how many rap songs are mainstreamed with the most provocative lyrics each day? A shit ton! I listen to a variety of different genres and can tell you there are some whack songs out there. Most rap songs give no fuck about what is said and who might be offended by it. These “parents” might as well try to shut down the whole industry while they are at it if they are so concerned about the music going into their child’s ears. As far am I am concerned they can “if you seek amy” as well.

Lyz-MN | 3/2/2009, 1:56 pm EST

I swear I’m not dumb, I had to look this up to see what the song was actually about. I’m 23. It makes sense now, but by listening, I didn’t get it! Is it really a big deal? Besides Britney isn’t 16 anymore….
Think of Souljah Boy, he’s what 18, if that!? Check out the lyrics to “Crank Dat”. Does anyone know what “Superman that ho” means? If not, ask your kids, I bet they do! I don’t think I ever heard controversy over that song and he’s young, but then when Britney’s song is released? HMMMFFFF…….

Why the hell are parents complaining about Britney Spears song being played on the radio? Come on now open up your eyes there are far more songs out there that are worse then “if you seek amy”. Also, Britney Spears is no longer a teenager singing for little girls. She is in her late 20’s and has grown up. People need to stop saying she is selling her music to kids when in reality its not so true. She is not a babysitter looking out for your kids.

person 101 | 3/2/2009, 11:49 pm EST

nice one to “yeah its me” person. I agree with you. If people can get into Britney Spears life and try to bring her down or fuck her up by rumors. I dont see what the problem is with her trying to brain wash people with her songs…Good Job Britney your finally fighting back….

Jasmine | 3/3/2009, 6:41 pm EST

First it is no worse then parents cursing i front of there kids and also the r alot of worse song so stop giving her crap ok she is not a little girl

Ethan | 3/4/2009, 2:34 am EST

The song may not be about someone named Amy, but no child will actually hear her spelling out the f-word. I HONESTLY thought ‘Amy’ was a pseudonym for Britney herself, because I’m just that dumb. I’ve had the song on repeat after finding this out, and just ended up loving the song more, not hearing a problem at all. Parents are griping over nothing. There’s are far worse things to worry about than one song… Props to Britney for making that comeback.

T | 3/4/2009, 11:56 am EST

Okay, I am a 30 yr old intellegant woman with 3 kids, and I had to look this up because I did not understand why this song was so controversial. I get it now, but would have never even thought of that until I read it! I too thought that Britney was singing of “Amy” as a way of singing about herself. I like this song and I own the CD-It’s awesome! The only reason young children will now think of this song in a different light is because stupid people with nothing better to do are making a big freakin deal out of it!!!!!!

India | 3/4/2009, 4:37 pm EST

This is a perfect thing or me! im writing about controversial music, and this is a perfect example, thanks brittany ;)

OMG | 3/5/2009, 12:12 am EST

All this brew-ha ha over Britney’s hidden message, and not a word about the trashy songs sung by Ray J and other rappers who talk about about “hittin’ hit” and describing a woman’s vagina in no uncertain terms? Come on!

??!?! | 3/6/2009, 11:44 am EST

I listened to what the radio station told people to do.. and that was to say ‘If you seek amy’ “3″ times and I did it and got nothing so I decided to look it up and now I get it but who cares!!! No one understands untill they look it up anyway!!!

russlip | 3/7/2009, 1:21 am EST

Who ever thought of this is brilliant. It certainly was not Spears, she’s not that clever. It was either the manager, song writer,or engineer. Controversy sells albums. Ask the beatles,
pink floyd, judas priest,ac/dc the eagles, led zepplin.
Nobody can say shiite(muslim) she doesn’t actually spell
F-u-c-k-Listen to it she clearly only says “if you seek amy”. Get over it losers.

jamie | 3/8/2009, 10:38 pm EST

To all the dumb ass parents griping about Britney’s new song- SHE DID NOT WRITE THE SONG. So why don’t you go and bitch to/or about the people that did write the song.

ithink this song is briliant honestly lol cause everyone does wanna F-U-C-K her lol

ily brit…

as chris crocker would say…
leave britney aloneeee lol

no-one | 3/9/2009, 3:09 pm EST

britney is just doing what all singers do and that is her job and if it means singing a song like “if you seek amy” than who are they to stop her and may i say she is doing a hell of a great JOB!

Kate | 3/9/2009, 7:50 pm EST

I think its funny that they want to ban these kind of songs between 6am and 10pm when they let advertisments about getting an erection on at all time of the day. even at 3.40pm when kids are in cars after being picked up from school… they cant ban one with out the other…

....=] | 3/10/2009, 12:23 pm EST

Yeahhh! I Totally agree with everyone who is saying that singing her music Isn’t her fault! Its GOOOOOOD music! Parents Just need control what there kids listen to! Parents are being completely dumb about this whole thing. NO Offence. But Take some fricking control of your kids, and what they listen to.

Neutral Point of View | 3/11/2009, 3:30 am EST

Honestly, it’s not all that bad in comparison to some other songs on the radio. I would like to think myself an intelligent person, since I just came across a link on youtube to the song and read about some God-awful controversy. The reason I state that I would like to believe that I am an intelligent person is this… As a parent to a daughter who is under two years old (who ironically my husband and I conceived before we were married without help of any such songs of this nature) I find myself more worried about the writ of Habeas corpus not being reinstated or perhaps inflation coming up. I do hate to say it, but there is no law nor right that states that we have the right NOT to be offended. The first amendment does cover the right of pornography and lyrics of songs like this as well as far more explicit ones to exist. To agree with some others on this debate, yes sex is a natural thing. It is how we reproduce, and abstinence only sex ed. is hurting more teenagers and pre-teens than any song has yet. Same goes for video games. If you don’t want your daughter or son to come home to inform you of their impending child… Teach them about birth control! Problem solved.

My question is of the people protesting this, who listens to the Beatles, Led Zeplin, Pink Floyd, and the Rolling Stones?

Chloe | 3/12/2009, 8:52 am EST

Ok so people are complaing because of that but when frankie and emoan cang the f u right back no one blinked a eye lead, and its ok for all these rappers to rapping stuff about girls doin stuff to them and for children to hear or the radio about murders and attacks so stop complaing and grow up, children dont know what that means.

sh | 3/12/2009, 6:50 pm EST

what about…”I want to Sex You Up” or “There ain’t nothin wrong with a little bump and grind”???? the precedent has been established, so are these groups going after Britney because she’s a woman?

As for the video, for those who are criticize her, it’s seems ok for men to portray women as the virgin/whore, but not acceptable for women to tackle that issue themselves, most of all a former mickey mouse club member.

I am an “Over 40 year old mother” with 2 beautiful daughters who have been raised to be free and make their own decisions about “good” and “bad”. These lyrics, this video, and this song is incredibly clever. Basically the whole world should stop trying to cover up the truth to their children and let them know what is going on out there in the real world. If you hide this from your children and give them ridiculous restrictions, they are going to go crazy when they get in college or out on their own. Let them taste reality while they are still in your care and openly help them decide on good choices. Both of my girls (22 y/o and 17 y/o) listen to all these songs talked about and they are good girls who make good decisions, but most of all they are open and honest with me because I have let them be free to make their own choices. I think this song is sensational and I very rarely turn the radio up to listen to songs, but this one is catchy and it got my attention.

MominChicago | 3/12/2009, 11:49 pm EST

I turns my stomache to think of all the kids that are going to learn not only how to spell this particular word, but will inevidably learn what it means because of the discussion it leads to with their parents and all the kids at school. I’m not talking about 10 year olds that already know, but about all their younger siblings (envision 4 or 5 year olds) that they come home and teach it to by just singing it around the house before Mom hears it and stops it. “If you seek Amy” Britney Spears. Is her Dad really in charge over there? All you supporters of this crap (and all the other songs out there talking about this stuff in so many words obviously don’t have kids or any concern for any kids anywhere. It’ll really be great for society as a whole when little 4 year-olds know how to spell FU and what it means. In fact, I’m sure a lot of F’ed up, too-stupid-to-be-procreating parents will find it hilarious when they teach their little toddlers this song and have them repeat it around the neighborhood. Ha, ha, hee, hee. I think I’m going to barf.

Shelby | 3/13/2009, 12:16 am EST

i just watched the music video for “If You Seek Amy” and while it has innuendo, it also came across as representing something inside of Britney.
“I’ve seen her once or twice but boy she knows my face, but it’s hard to see with all the people standing in my way.”
This conversation right now with everyone saying that britney is stupid, that she tried to kill her baby, that she almost died doing drugs… that is exactly what she’s talking about. How is someone supposed to find themselves if there is such a demand to be perfect on the outside when inside you’re going crazy and you want to let loose. I think everyone is jumping to conclusions about the “obscenity” in this song. You’re making so much noise that you can’t even hear the songs underlying meaning.

Izzy | 3/13/2009, 12:28 am EST

“Underlying message”….my butt!

It’s quite simple what she wanted to say…and she did say it…kinda.

I don’t think there is a problem in the world with it! I love the song. I think all of the other moms out there making a big deal about it need to make a big deal about EVERYTHING if they want to keep the soap box they are standing on.

It’s in every genre of music…county…Honky Tonk Badonkadonk?!?!? Talking about a womans ass!!! as said in other post…Lollypop…I kissed a girl.

Everyone watched her while she was in her low point in life, and judged her. Now that she’s back up at top again….still getting judged.

I think she’s great! /hug :D

Compare this | 3/13/2009, 1:07 am EST

I dont understand why ppl always want to compare songs like this to rap music. Compare it to other pop songs and country and heavy metal and hard rocks songs too. All music has its controversy not just rap and hip hop.

danielle | 3/13/2009, 6:26 am EST

What a sad place American is becoming more crass every year.

It’s amazing the moral decline.

Annie | 3/13/2009, 10:24 am EST

Really??? Its called turn off the tv and radio. A kid is not going to think If U seek Amy means something else unless you tell them. There are families like the Duggars who would prefer their kids aren’t exposed to this stuff. If you would prefer to live that way then go ahead. Never ONCE has that family imposed their beliefs on the rest of the US I would prefer that other parents would do the same. (I am a mother of a little girl by the way.) Turn the radio off and get out of our business.

misty | 3/13/2009, 11:04 am EST

Geeze get over the lyrics… it obviously the parents of the teenagers who are listening to the song are finding that message… what does that say about parents… in all honesty, I do hear that in the song, I can see where you would get the message but seriously. Stop bitching and if you don’t like it turn off the radio.

Chris | 3/13/2009, 11:07 am EST

You don’t think your kids don’t hear or say worse at school? It’s just a song people.

Boohoo | 3/13/2009, 2:57 pm EST

Wait kids still listen to the radio? Thats news to me.

If they are old enough to operate a radio they sure as hell have heard more vulgar things then that at school.

Cat | 3/13/2009, 3:17 pm EST

okay im 16 and i didnt get that the first thousand times i heard it odds are no matter how smart your kid is when they hear the words if you seek amy they arent going to turn around and go “oh all the first letters spell something!” especially if they are under 12 and after 12 take it from me no matter what school they go to or who they hang out with this song will be one of the least vulgar things they will ever hear

and if you put that together the first time you heard this song well then nice job your kids learned how to curse from you anyway

JAke | 3/13/2009, 4:04 pm EST

Hey, Lee. your a moron. See=C.

MIchael | 3/13/2009, 5:19 pm EST

I heard this song, and right after I f*cked everything in sight. :(

Jon | 3/13/2009, 6:12 pm EST

Personally, I’m wondering why no one has noticed that a robotic-sounding voice appears in the background several times over the course of the song, apparently singing “fuck me, fuck me…” Didn’t everyone hear that???

Bree | 3/13/2009, 6:24 pm EST

i have a pretty dirty mind and pic up on things like this. I heard it pretty quickly and attempted to tell some people and they just laughed. Personally when i heard “seek Amy” i was thinking as in the movie…i could see how the lyrics could relate but kids will listen to songs because they are dirty…this is by no far worse than some of the shaggy songs i listened to when i was in middle school

HahahehebritneytheHO | 3/13/2009, 7:21 pm EST

All that fuss and blah blah about a song called if you seek Amy, but no one noticed that they synthesize her voice so much. I thought she was a very talented singer. But wen they over mix, what are they hiding?

BRITNEY IS A FRAUD, CANT SING, CANT DANCE, CANT LIP SING.

IF YOU LIKE YOUR KIDS TO WATCH STRIPTEASE TAKE THEM TO A CLUB, SHOW THEM THE REAL DEAL.

THAT AINT MUSIC OR TALENT WHAT BRITNEY IS SELLING YOUR KIDS AND MINE, IF YOU CANT SELL MUSIC SELL SEX, THAT IS WHAT BRITNEY IS ALL ABOUT, WHAT A ROLE MODEL TO ALLOW OUR CHILDREN TO FOLLOW.

FUCK YOU ALL BRITNEY SUPPORTERS. YOUR FUCKING RETARD LIKE HER, AND HAVE NO EARS FOR REAL TALENT AND MUSIC.
FUCK BRITNEY SPEARS, SHE IS SO OVER.

haha. I’m 14, and I caught it the first time I listened to the song.

Whatever, really. Kids are underestimated- we’re much more mature than most adults think. ;)

Someone | 3/15/2009, 8:58 am EST

I heard the song just once before I saw what was written about it and I haven’t noticed it until now.

Honestly I don’t think she made any “nice” song recently, she’s been making all those slutty videos and everything for a long time now. Plus we haven’t heard her real voice since she made that electronic album. Good idea to go even more easy about her work. But this is far worst of her. We heard “make love to me” “I want you” type of stuff but this is the rock bottom.

I don’t think this song is that big of a deal, there are similar songs on the radio all the time. But this song changes my mind about her completely.

I used to like her when she first came out. Her songs had emotions and thoughts and lovely melodies. They were still pop music, but she had an honor or some body parts that not millions of people saw :) I don’t care what she’s going through, divorces, losing her kids etc. It doesn’t justify anything she’s doing.

These are all my thoughts, I’m not saying that people should stop her or buying her albums. Anyone can listen to her songs if they want to this is a free world. But I just pity her and get disturbed by her. What she changed into is just sad.

Nickkyyy | 3/15/2009, 2:53 pm EST

the only reason some of those sexual rap songs are aloud on the radio and not britany spears song is cuz they talk so fast and they dont really pronouce the words and the music is basically playing over their voices so no one can understand what they’re saying hahaha
if parnets could actually understand what they were saying, they wouldn’t let they’re kids listen to that stuff
but noooo…everyone has to take it out on britany who doesn’t even technically say anything bad. she says “if u seek amy” that’s the name of the fricken song. not F-U-C-K Me. seriously, do parents actually think their kids will even think in that way??! of course they won’t!! geeez!
these people need to get a life

AprilShowers | 3/15/2009, 2:55 pm EST

I Agree Non Yo Biss this is a great song with a great tune and shouldnt be banned just because its F-U-C-K me i mean c’mon its a song when i first heard it i never new it said F-U-C-K me until my sister liked the song and searched it through the internet to hear the song but found stupid little complaints like these ITS JUST A SONG PEOPLE.

Dand0 | 3/15/2009, 3:27 pm EST

Ummm who cares. Its a fun song and it certainly can’t be responsible for causing kids to fuck. I thought that hormones were responsible for that. Madonna- Britney- whatever. There will always be slutty sexy music because WE LIKE IT. As for Britney’s synthed voice. Big deal. Sounds good to me. Not everyone can sing. But some people who can’t sing still manage to blow it up. Madonna really can’t sing either. She’s still HUGE and super fun to watch… I LOVES YA BRITNEY!

poor poor haters | 3/15/2009, 6:49 pm EST

oh my gosh people get a grip.im a 12 yr old girl with a christian family. the tighter you grip your kids the more they’ll wanna be set free.trust me. if you don’t like the music turn it off or change the channel its not that hard.and mr.cathlock preist, isnt one of the commandmant do not hold a grudge?so get on with your life.

The majority of you blind fucks that think the song is okay, and that it won’t effect our youth of today, are a bunch of new world order brainwashed clones. Keep eating your fast food & watching your T.v you fat lazy fucks. lol-ouder

Sydney | 3/15/2009, 9:15 pm EST

God! I am so pissed of about u ppl getting mad about this amy thing! How come when she makes a racey song she gets in trouble and when lil’wayne doees it he doesnt! WTF! I luv this song cause of the beat and artists should be able to havee a creative free mind of their own!

Me | 3/15/2009, 10:55 pm EST

There have been worse lyrics out there than this. Rappers rap about women being b*tches, L’il Wayne raps about his “lollipop”, Katy Perry talks about kissing a girl, 50 Cent raps about going to his candy shop, and so much more is out there that children are listening to. I give it up to Brit for coming up with a creative way to get her message across. Why is it society has no problem with a man bragging about his indiscretions, but if a women brags about hers, the world comes crashing down. We have political figures, priests, husbands, and much more out there seeking for their Amy out there on the streets. So I guess that is all right for them to seek, but bad for a women. How fair is that? If you don’t want your kids to hear something on the radio or TV, turn it off. But remember this is a new age and we are not back in the 50’s or 60’s. The only difference is everyone now is more open about those indisrections than back then when it all had to be a big secret. Yeah so the song has another meaning. Whoppee do!!Parents need to take responsibility for their actions and what their children are listening to and watching. There are way worse things your children are exposed to than this song. Get a grip people! It is only a damn song.

Zipe México city | 3/15/2009, 11:23 pm EST

Well.. I think the song is really cool…! her it´s the pop princess! COME WHAT MAY.. IT´S BRITNEY BITCH!

mick | 3/16/2009, 6:31 am EST

id beg to f-u-c-k britney, id get on my knees and worship and beg, shes still as hot as she ever was…

diane | 3/16/2009, 10:48 am EST

these people complaining about Brit’s songs are crazy. damn it. Give justice to the music. if it has that message, then so be it. don’t make such a big fuss about it (and the lyrics are kinda right anyway.. “love her or hate her, all of the boys and all of the girls are still begging to f*ck britney”

Amy-fied | 3/16/2009, 12:59 pm EST

Lee is so stupid u only need a few seconds of your life to hear it.

Anyway, she really is just looking for Amy LMAO

ines isabella | 3/16/2009, 3:56 pm EST

A seriously dumb song, with little to no artistic merit, but it’s damn catchy…

nobamanobritney | 3/17/2009, 12:09 am EST

This song is sick and no children should being listening to it, it should be banned it’s sad that Britney is a tool (minion) for Satan and you all a hopeless souls fall for it to. Just like Obama a hopeless socialist incompetent idiot all u heathens should burn in hell with the devil.

The Amy | 3/17/2009, 12:43 am EST

I heard worse songs than this.. i dont see the big deal…

Gremlin.Kid | 3/17/2009, 3:43 am EST

you ppl that think this song is problemful should shut up, look at other big issues in the world such as easy porn access, underaged sex etc. if you dont like the song dont listen to it, i think the way its hidden within the title is clever, its an awesome song and wil be a hit. :) britney rocks, so if you seek amy.

Gremlin.Kid2 | 3/17/2009, 3:56 am EST

:P BRITNEY IS BRILLIANT! YOU CRITICIZE HER ON SUCH A STUPID ISSUE THAT ISN’T EVEN AN ISSUE, ITS A SINGLE AND HAS A RIGHT TO BE AIRED ON RADIO STATIONS, JUST BECAUSE SOME OF YOU PPL FEEL ITS AN INAPPROPRIATE SONG, WON’T BRING YOU ANY FURTHER IN LIFE, SO GET OVER IT! SEEING WHAT BRIT HAS GONE THREW, AND THE MAJOR COMEBACK SHE’S BEEN ABLE TO MAKE, YOU ALL SHOULD BE HAPPY FOR HER, NOT NOW GO AND BUTT IN ON HER WORK, THAT AS YOU SHALL KNOW, HAS MADE HER THE LEGEND SHE IS. SO BRING YOUR COMMENTS AND PROBLEMS, I’VE GOT ALOT MORE TO SAY!!! ;)

third renaissance | 3/17/2009, 4:55 am EST

Get over it! | 3/17/2009, 6:12 am EST

It’s a song.. If she wanted to say FUCK ME she would say it! She doesn’t need to cover it up! Parents don’t realize all the other songs out there that are completely blunt about it. Get over it people! It’s not like she is going to apologize… who cares!!

LOL | 3/17/2009, 1:56 pm EST

LOL change the lyrics to if you seek george wtf? And get over your selves parent council watever the hell the name is, You think that all the negativity on the news and tv today is any better then this song? Most of your kids at night prolly watch skinemax

Jen | 3/17/2009, 3:42 pm EST

To be honest with you I am 21 years old and my Boyfriend is a DJ… if I had not asked him in the car after hearing this song about 50 million times what the hell it was about I would have never known that “if you seek Amy” really meant F U C K me. Of course now at least the chorus makes sense. And by the way my niece age 8 and the girls I babysit ages 8-12 with parental consent have listened to this song on the radio and they don’t get it’s double meaning. All they hear is “if you seek Amy” and they keep asking who Amy is so we told them it was Britney’s friend. Most young kids are not running around thinking this song is about getting fucked, and if your kids are then you have bad parenting skills and should be paying more attention to your children. I have a much bigger problem with my niece or girls listening to “Lollipop”, “Hot Wuk” aka “Hot Fuck” or some other songs on the radio then “If you seek Amy”. At least Britney isn’t really cursing. You people are making it easier for kids to know the songs double meaning by complaining and posting angry comments like this everywhere then it would be if they just listened to the song.

Alyssa. | 3/17/2009, 6:14 pm EST

I personally think it’s a brilliant step in her comeback. Actually, it’s no longer a comeback…she is BACK! Anyways, she’s our generations Madonna & it’s her job to make songs like this. As for the assholes who are suppose to be watching whats on the t.v not minding the radio…It’s not even that obvious what the song is saying. And if your child can gather that the words are FUCK ME, then maybe you aren’t doing your job as a parent and should spend a little less time worring about B-spears and a little more time on taking care of your children. OH! and another thing, the more parents and idiots make out of this pop song the more popular its going to get. ;) durhhh

funny | 3/17/2009, 9:29 pm EST

When I went home for spring break I noticed that the words to the song were changed on the radio and I was extremely confused. It wasn’t until I looked it up and listened to the song numerous times until I heard the underlying meaning.

Christinaa | 3/17/2009, 10:26 pm EST

Once again, I know something that I would never know if it weren’t for the apparently INSANE amount of publicity it’s getting! Watching Hannity on FOX News tonight I learn that Brittany Spears has a new single…and blah, blah, blah! STOP BROADCASTING IT and it will go away! Stop PROTESTING it and no-one will know anything about it!

Larry Flynt | 3/18/2009, 3:50 am EST

Anonymous | 3/18/2009, 12:04 pm EST

To all you people that think that this is ok, get some morals! That is what is wrong in our society, the philosophy that “if they really want it, they’ll get access to it” Kids need boundaries, and they need to know certain things are not ok. This video is disgusting, and if you admire or like it, then you are just as disgusting. No kid should be listening to things like this, or watching things like this. We wonder why people are the way they are and why crime is so high, and why so many kids have mental problems. It is no wonder. People of America need to wake up and get some morals.

:) | 3/18/2009, 4:23 pm EST

heck, i personally like the song and i think it should be played. if u don’t like it, turn the station it aint that hard.

kenny | 3/18/2009, 7:09 pm EST

heck, i think this song is great. who cares if you don’t like it, change the channel, it seriously ain’t hard. geez.

haha | 3/18/2009, 10:37 pm EST

to all the complaining parents out there; would you rather have this song flat out saying FU*K ME? young kids are not going to understand the true meaning of this song. If any kid now does, it is probobly because of the amount of publicity that this song is getting.

Concern yourselves with getting racist songs off the air, before you touch something like this.

ShadowXRawrxNoFearX | 3/19/2009, 11:14 am EST

Why are there idiotic religious people crying over a song title? There’s nothing wrong with our society today except for crime. Kid’s are mental because of the on going bullying parents and teachers always seem to not take seriously until something horrible happens. Don’t blame the title of a wonderful song for problems that have been occuring long before this song. I’m seven-teen and yea I figured out the oun inside the title along time ago, but I’m also pretty smart for my age. Not every kid out there is all that smart to know what the song is saying. The only reason alot of kids out there will now no is because all of this incessant whineing aldults are doing over it. Seriously don’t tell your kids to grow up if you can’t. Britney I love you and your music and hope that your music remains awsome and impervious to what idiots may think of it. You didn’t get where you are today for singing religious church songs or anything now did you? Sex sells and times change. Everyone has morals but not everyone swallows the same religious bull shit that everyone else does. ^_^ Now that I had my say in this matter, I feel good.
I hope she has even more puns just to spite those who don’t like them.

Brandy.. TX.. USA | 3/19/2009, 12:22 pm EST

I don’t let my children listen to rock/rap etc so it doesn’t effect me so much. I think parents need to limit the type of music their children are exposed to. Brittany obviously doesn’t have the morals she used to have. I wish more artists could put music out there that our kids COULD listen to. I’m a grown Christian woman and I really don’t care for all the FUCK, etc and sex-oriented music that is out there. Our world is in a moral decline and people like this are just helping the snowball roll down the hill faster.. as are all those of you who are posting that it doesn’t ‘bother’ you.

Alexandra Rodriguez | 3/19/2009, 2:26 pm EST

Okay so what if the song sounds like she is saying “F-U-C-K ME!” Its just a song! I love this song and if you stupid people are still crying about what it says, I have some advise for you:
GET OVER IT!!!!

Christy | 3/19/2009, 3:52 pm EST

So what if it sounds like something else if kids are singing the actual lyric they are singing “if you seek amy” people need to find something more important to complain about.

Christy | 3/19/2009, 3:55 pm EST

oh and for all you Britney haters look how much more press you are giving her. She is never going away because someone always has something to say about her! if you seek ME

Polly | 3/19/2009, 5:01 pm EST

Oh, I’m from Russia and all of my friends are crazy about Brit! I advise all who cares abour what she’s singin’ about to shut up. She’s brilliant and even the words FUCK ME in a pretty song “If you seek Amy” can’t spoil her. It’s only your blame if your children hear FUCK me instead of the name. Take care about your owm moral.

kortney | 3/19/2009, 8:13 pm EST

NZ girl | 3/19/2009, 10:20 pm EST

Hellooooo Katy Perry has a song that says “I kissed a girl and I liked it” a far more interesting set of lyric’s to try and explain to your children then “if you seek Amy” at least she has done it tasefully.

NZ girl | 3/19/2009, 10:29 pm EST

Hello, katy perry has a song that says “i kissed a girl and I liked it” i mean come on whats harder to explain to your kids, that or “if you seek amy” most people didn’t even pick up the doubt meaning, and an innocent mind will only hear “if you seek Amy” I mean damn the simpson’s is deemed a childrens program these days but the adult undertone is all over the place

cincy boy | 3/19/2009, 11:31 pm EST

It’s kind of commical that everyone is trying to get this song pulled from radio during those hours…it makes me wonder a couple of things
1. don’t most radio stations who you would hear this song being played have DJ’s who talk about sex and drugs and “adult” situations on air??? what’s the difference
2. during those hours aren’t their kids in school and shouldn’t adults be at work and besides if thos prissy bitchy soccer religious uptight moms are out and running errands with their kids why don’t you put on a raffi cd or a freaking barney cd that you would want your kids to listen to!
3. we must not forget that other songs are just as bad like the song If you see kay … just say it normally and it’s more obvious that if you seek amy it took me forever to ever get britney’s song….kelis milkshakes it’s all about sex! and what about all those rap songs who talk and portray women as being mere objects for pleasure…you people who object to this song are more conerned with having your children hear this song instead of worrying that your child is going to grow up and think all they are there for is mere pleasure b/c they see this on TV and in music videos

COME on people get over youselves and your song there’s much other crap out there to fret and worry over so grow a pair and if you seek amy!

cc | 3/20/2009, 1:01 am EST

I am pretty sick minded and I had to read this article to figure out what was so offensive about this song. I didn’t catch the implication. Amazing how demented the minds are of these holier than thou hypocrites. No kid would have figured it out unless you told them… agagagagggg

mia | 3/20/2009, 3:18 am EST

no kid would get it if you hadn’t told them. im 13, i didnt like the song much, thought it was wierd and didn’t make much sense i only realised the whole F-U-C-K me thing when a friend told me.

Anonymous | 3/20/2009, 4:33 am EST

Most children won’t know what it spells… unless you tell them.

Any teenager, unless they are evil, will refrain from telling their younger siblings, probably for fear of punishment.

Most mammals are humping things by sixth months of age, and although f**king isn’t the best way to say it, at least you can teach them it’s a bad word and maybe they won’t show up at catholic daycare sticking the rubber hot dog in their fly and yelling I have a wee wee in third grade.

When I was five I yelled p*ssy at a football player who fumbled on tv. My parents explained that was a bad word and what it meant and I still don’t use that word… and they must have done something right, as I’m a medical school student doing very well…

Lazy parents are those who are objecting. Take some interest in your kids life and teach them that it’s not socially acceptable to use that word if you’re scared. You don’t even need to explain what it means… just say it’s a bad word, if they’re old enough to protest they probably know what it means already anyway.

If-You-Seek-Yourself | 3/20/2009, 10:51 am EST

Stop crying ovr a song.
Why don’t you find something more useful to do with your time.
I thought adults were supposed to be hard workers and not have time for this bull shit. If you seek amy is an awsome, song and hey you can try and get it to where it’s played after ten but all you’ll be doing is making the song even more known because of all the media it will receive. If your kids haven’t figured it out by now then there most likely not going to. And if they do, well so what I’m sure they’ve heard alot far more worse thing’s on the play ground then they have from the radio. If they’ve heard pretty bad stuff on the radio it’s most likely from the rap bull shit your playing. And if you don’t want your kid’s to say bad words then maybe you should teach them not to say them. I hate how christains and etc. try and earn attention by attacking a good song, because it’s against there “beliefs”, well they need to get the fuck over themselves cause if you’ve noticed today there’s more kids that are atheist then anything. The future generation doesn’t always believe in the god shit anymore. If you don’t want your kids to here the song then that’s your buisness, so stop trying to discipline every other kid out there that isn’t your’s because of your prejudice. “Singing love me, hate me, say what you want about me, but all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If you seek amy”.
ot everyone has the same morals as everyone else, and morals is like chivalry. It’s dead :)

good job! | 3/20/2009, 3:04 pm EST

Im so proud of Brit! way to sneak that in there! i love that song!

Bobby Ben | 3/20/2009, 4:20 pm EST

Hey, if you’re angered, and you’re a parent, stop being such a hypocrite. If you’re a parent, you’ve had sex, and therefore you should have no problem with this talentless harlot prancing around proving further to the world that she is desperate for a good fuck.

Stop being so prudish and get over yourselves. Sex is natural and quite frankly enjoyable, so why not embrace it? It’s the people who already know what Spears is all about who understand the point of FUCK ME.

BESIDES, the people who think this is morally wrong are all the same people who complain about other things being ‘unnatural’ (not naming names). So these people ought to shut their mouths because as I’ve said before, sex is natural. Natural is the opposite of unnatural. If you hate unnatural, and you seek to cover up natural, what’s left? Just shut up. Boys have penises and girls have vaginas (and there are other categories but we’ll leave that for later), most children figure that out at a fairly young age and if they don’t, THAT is a serious problem, a problem caused by the SAME parents that think FUCK ME is morally wrong.

That said, the only problem I have with this song is that Spears can’t sing and doesn’t deserve air time.

Christian Person | 3/20/2009, 7:47 pm EST

Some kids stay home sick, some people don’t know what it means but could one day hear it and realized what the meaning is and some kids how like the song and sing it around the house can get in trouble because they don’t understand the song but the people who hear the kid sing it do. The song should not be on the radio during day hours and I think that the song and the rest of the cd that the song is on should be band for good.

Get Over It | 3/20/2009, 9:44 pm EST

I’m 13 and if you hadn’ realised mostly teens realise what the song is really saying. Younger kids only realise what that the song is saying F-U-C-K ME because of what they hear in school or at home.

Who cares we’re gonna learn a lot of curse words by the time we’re 20. So if you wanna shield your kid from what they’re gonna hear when they get older thats your problem. Don’t try to stop everyone else from listening.

By the way if you hadn’t realised a lot of people listen to the radio after 10 P.M. and kids that have to wake up to go to school early in the morning listen to the radio. Weather you idoits like it or not people are gonna hear this song.

Get over it we’re gonna hear this kinda music when we get older.

Think wouldn’t you rather it be “if you seek Amy” then flat out “FUCK ME” like all the other songs on the radio.

Kat | 3/21/2009, 3:08 am EST

I’m a 21 year old college student with a 140 IQ. I didn’t even know there was something wrong with the song UNTIL I heard all the media hype! All the protesting is, in my opinion, having the opposite effect of what the protestors were attempting to do. I actually think its pretty darn creative! Good for you Brit!

me | 3/21/2009, 4:42 am EST

Omg… I’m freaken 21 years old and i knew there was a hidden meaning because the song didn’t make sense but i never knew what it was until a friend told me about all the hype and angry people. So if I didn’t get it, I really don’t think a kid will, plus, kids nowdays hear way worse stuff from friends at school, they also do worse stuff too… and if they were really interested in listening to a song with cursing in it they’d go and listen to rap and they’d hear all about sex from ludacris or snoop dog… duh! so people need to stop tripping.

Julee | 3/21/2009, 9:58 am EST

I had no idea that was the meaning of the song! I thought it was about seeking drugs. I don’t see how kids could understand it if I’m 25 and I didn’t until I read this article!

Marc | 3/21/2009, 11:34 am EST

Get Over It | 3/20/2009, 9:44 pm EST
I’m 13 and if you hadn’ realised….. Weather you idoits like it or not people are gonna hear this song.
*********************** *********
Get Over It? It only took you 13 years to get this stupid? That may be a record. You shouldn’t use words that you can’t spell…idoits!!! What does the weather have to do with it?

chick on stix | 3/21/2009, 1:27 pm EST

Please i really dont like B. Spears but its only a song! nobody even notices what it says until someone else tells them!!!!! There are a lot worse songs out there that are not even in code!

Charlie'sangel | 3/21/2009, 3:12 pm EST

Why doesn’t anyone realize that Amy is also another name for methamphetamine? Everyone is so caught up in the F*** controversy that they can’t even see what the song is really about, which I saw immediately. So I guess that makes Brit doubly ingenious, huh?

Amy W | 3/21/2009, 9:09 pm EST

I was pleased when I thought my name was in a song…now I’m not so sure ahah!!

Please get over it, arent’ we supposed to have freedom of speech?! Fair play Britney that is cleverly disguised. I had a right giggle when I discovered what it meant. It’s a bit of fun, lighten up, sheesh!! Kids learn to swear in the playground or from their parents, it will happen eventually, and believe it or not Britney isn’t usually the ambassador of underage swearing.

Amy W | 3/21/2009, 9:19 pm EST

AND I back up everyone else who says if you don’t like it or think it’s immoral don’t listen to it! How self indulgent to listen and then rant about it, you really must be at a loss of something in your lives if this is your main priority. If your kids get this connotation then they clearly already know things they shouldnt because it is not obvious at all!! And just because Britney says F-U-C-K doesnt mean all the kids are going to say ‘Oh my god, Britneys told us to have underage sex, quick, lets go forth and multiply!!’ Give your kids some damn credit they aren’t easily brainwashed zombies. Would YOU have done that when you were a kid? No? Then why do you have such low expectations of your own offspring?!

Jesus, war, poverty, murder…. and societies main concern is Britneys illusive anagram.

Haha | 3/21/2009, 9:35 pm EST

I think that song is actually pretty smart to sneak that in there.
I’m 18 and had no clue what it meant, neither did my friends.
We all suspected it was about drugs or something, but for it to say “F-U-C-K ME” is really smart!

It seems some adults are real prudes, are you really going to shield your child from these kind of things for the rest of their lives?
But what mother/father, sat there listening to the song to find something wrong with it? :S
How loopy must you be? haha
And how long did it take? i’m curious.

Get the fuck over it.
Fuck all your religious and moral quarrels.
Thank you :)

parents are idiots | 3/22/2009, 3:48 pm EST

I’m 16, and i didn’t understand the meaning of this song. most peopl don’t understand the meaning of it, so why get so worked up over it??? the only reason people now know it spells out F-U-C-K me is because all of the publicity parents have given it. you people think that our ignorance to this song’s meaning if what’s wrong with our society??? restricting kids from knowing things like SEX is what’s wrong with our society. if you don’t sit and explain to your children what sex is, or what drugs are, etc, and just never tell them anything about it, then they’ll wanna do it even more later on especially if they know it’s off-limits.
People that commit crimes are not because they listen to songs like “If you seek Amy,” it’s because of idiot parents that don’t ever teach their kids what’s wrong and right in this world, and keep them from doing things that are natural. So this song spells out F-U-C-K ME??? so what?!?! I don’t see anyone getting so worked up over Ludacris, Snoop Dog, or Akon. if you people would’ve kept your mouths shut no one would’ve known this song’s meaning. You think it’s a dirty song? Then fine, tell your kids why it’s dirty and that they should wait to the find the right person to have sex and blah blah. but don’t prevent them from listening to them, because trust me, they’re gonna find even worse things to listen to just to spite you. besides, not like this song’s gonna want people to actually go out and have sex. get over yourself, it’s a great song

Anthony Devastation | 3/23/2009, 10:11 am EST

Well me and my friends on making a kick ass lip sync video of this over spring break, and we’ll post it on youtube when were done. Were like learning the steps and everything. So parents can get the F**k over it. Seriously this is getting old now

Anthony Devastation | 3/23/2009, 10:17 am EST

Well she kinda already said it all.
“Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek amy” :D
I’m already getting bored with this topic though. And parents who keep dragging it on obviously need a life and need to find something more productive to do with there time. Like the red cross and stuff instead of preaching why a song isn’t right. Cause honestly us kids and teens don’t give a shit what you adults think. You think your kid is a perfect angel and has a pure mind? Ha! okay keep believeing that if it helps you sleep. Nothing is pure really if you look at it close enough. Disney isn’t even pure, they add adult jokes into movies if you want to get personal about it. Did you already explain why the prince got a boner at the end of cinderella in the movie to your kids?
That’s what I thought.

XxXNoFearXxX | 3/23/2009, 11:11 am EST

It’s just a song, please get over it and find something more productive to do with your free time instead going on about you think Britney Spears is a bad role model and a whore. How about you use the time you use to trash talk her, to lecture your kid’s about how you don’t want them listening to this song, or explain to them why you don’t want them singing it. It’ll probally be a better use of your time. I had no idea what the song meant until I found this site, and I’m usually pretty quick to catch on to thing’s like this. If you seek amy is a great song regarless of it’s point. She already has enough on her plate, with death threats and everything to have time worrying about what parents are thinking of her. If you adults actually had a heart and care about your kids then maybe you can sympathize with the fact that there is a creep or creeps out there threatening the life of her kids. I bet those kind of things never even crossed your mind when you were so busy trash talking her. It’s just a song and as everyone else is saying “there are far worse songs out there”. Either grow a heart and shut the fuck up or grow some balls and put your picture up here so people can see the real pathetic peice of shit you really are.

Meme | 3/23/2009, 11:11 am EST

I love Britney Spears and I love this song, Im 26 and on the night club’s is great this song for dance… I loved

britROCKS! | 3/23/2009, 4:29 pm EST

Seriously everyone needs to shut up and stop blabbering on about this Song!OMG!
Its not as if this song was titled ‘F.u.c.k Me’
Soo how is it possible for kids to even recognise what it actually means. Soo many people have commented saying that they didnt even realise that ‘hidden message’ existed.
I dont see what all the fuss is about! All these rappers lil wayne, 50 cent, akon ETC have more segestive songs than this! Thats what all these rappers write about nowa days sex, drugs and racism!!

All of this sh*t wouldnt be happenng if the media and parents hadnt made such a big deal about it.
I think if all you parents out there find this song disgusting then you obviously havent heard any other music in you life!!!

Give the poor girl a break!! JEEZE!!
And start doing more important things in your life rather than tryner bring ppl down just cos they’ve succeded in life!!!

(Ahh i feel much better)

Tracey | 3/23/2009, 8:23 pm EST

This song is awful. Britney Spears should focus on her own children instead of her ego.

Michelle | 3/23/2009, 9:14 pm EST

I’m not especially thick headed but I honestly didn’t even realize it was suppose to be “fuck me” until people made it a big deal. Whether it should be taken off the air or not parents are just drawing attention to the hidden message and only making kids WANT to hear it more. You’d have to have some pretty raunchy kids if they would even figure out on their own that “If you seek amy” means “fuck me”. Keep your mind out of the gutter.

jess | 3/24/2009, 7:22 am EST

well i sat here for 20 minutes and just figured it out. GET A LIFE PEOPLE. The are alot worse things in the world than this song!!

M | 3/24/2009, 8:00 am EST

That’s really dumb. It’s just a song.there are songs which are a lot of more sexual and no one gives a shit about it. Making a big deal of it is just giving the song more fans :)

jordan | 3/24/2009, 8:33 am EST

is doesnt matter she isnt saying it to your face and saying fuck me she said if you seek amy it doesnt sound like it to me and i dont even like her music much but shes a good person trying to make a life but people go into her life and take photos that are missleading. If you dont like the words dont listin to it then its not that hard. why do people hate her so much anyways jw.

BAMM | 3/24/2009, 8:35 am EST

Eric | 3/24/2009, 10:04 am EST

The adults who keep blabbering on about this is dispictable.
Get a life you worthless peices of shit.

brady | 3/24/2009, 5:25 pm EST

get a life, how did u even figure that out? and besides its not like kids r going to figure this out, i have been listening tho this song forever and never noticed this, its not like four year olds are walking around saying it

Tommy | 3/24/2009, 5:36 pm EST

This is quite funny. I dont get why there is so much controversy over Britney saying ‘If you seek amy’, like children are going to understand it, for all they know she is singing about Amy. It’s alright for Lil wayne and people to sing about pussy, money and weed but because Britney uses a phrase which some find disrespectable. Fuck off and get a life.

Dawn | 3/25/2009, 2:02 am EST

I have the CD and didn’t even notice the words that parents are bitching about. There are many artists out there singing about murder, drugs, gangs, guns, must I go on??? How about complaining about those instead of one track from one artist? It’s not like her songs are filled with expletives, give it a rest. If you don’t like it don’t listen to it:)

Erin | 3/25/2009, 2:59 pm EST

I’ve listened to the song about 300 times after reading this, and I honestly didn’t hear it untill the 301st time listening to it. If this is our countries biggest concern, no wonder the economy is the way it is. Parents need to stop protecting children so much because that is the reason we have all these teenage problems. Teens having babies, dropping out of High school, doing drugs, working at McDonalds forever. Look at Europe, they do not hide the true facts of life and there for on a much better track than America at the moment in time. Start worrying about the issues that actually matter in life and talk to your kids if you are that worried.

me | 3/25/2009, 4:02 pm EST

I bet these parents listened to Puff the Magic Dragon back in the day. And that song was definately not about an actual magic dragon. There are so many lyrics that have sexual references. If they were all banned than there wouldn’t be any music on the radio. There are some songs out that that I think are a little to racy for my kids to hear. But since I am alot older and have kids I think differently but I would not go the extreme. I live near Oakland where that parolee killed those 4 policeman. I am more concerned about that happening than words to a song.

Just Married!! | 3/25/2009, 4:13 pm EST

This is obviously Ridiculous! I am a 23 year who has been in love with this song since the cd landed on the shelves..and truth be told this is the FIRST I’ve ever heard of this ordeal. (Yeah, where the heck have I been?!?!) But anyhow, my point is I have listened to it hundreds of times by now and there is no way in hell I would have EVERRR noticed the whole “F-U-C-K” translation in the song without reading this article. This is absolutely obsurd!! And so what if it is meant to translate over to that..I highly doubt small children would catch that!

Lynn | 3/25/2009, 4:18 pm EST

I’m a parent and i don’t think there is anything wrong with this song,it’s not like she is singing about guns and killing someone and other things that should not be mentioned on the radio…parents need to pay more attention to things that could actually harm there kids then a song that doesn’t even say what they think it is saying. If you don’t like it then don’t listen to those stations when your kids are around.
My kids have more of a chance learning the word from school from kids who should have there mouth washed out then from this song grow up and get over it.

Maddie | 3/25/2009, 5:31 pm EST

this whole britney spears thing is stupid.
lil wayne talks about drugs, sex, and everything you think your perfect child would never do.
teens listen to him.
but oh hell naw if britney says anything.

ellie | 3/26/2009, 3:39 pm EST

Im 18, pretty much could guess what this song (AND EVERY OTHER SONG EVER MADE) was about. but I only got the ‘if you seek amy’ by the time i got to the comment by cincy boy 3/19/2009….. Really doubt kids will understand!!

‘if you seek amy’….. hehe LOVE IT!!

lalagirl | 3/26/2009, 4:38 pm EST

Im 11 and i dont get it. you cant actually hear her say it can you? even though its a good song. and i actually think it was smart idea (not about her putting the bad profinity in the song. so im just saying if some of the parents and kids cant hear the meaning then who cares! they are doing the same thing to Flo rida’s sond “Right Round”

we rock the nigth | 3/26/2009, 4:44 pm EST

I dont get it and im in 6th grade! i mean its was a smart idea for Britany to (well it wasnt smart sneek in that profinity) but come on its catchy. i mean i like ‘if u seek amy’ no big deal right?

winwin | 3/26/2009, 4:45 pm EST

its an ok song just chill! but the profinity she tries to tie in it isnt good

KRISTINA | 3/26/2009, 4:50 pm EST

MY radio station in North West Florida, Z96, claims that they have never heard of If You Seek Amy, they claim to never have even been asked to play it! I know for a fact, I call at least once a week to make them play it! I know I have personally spoken to the DJ in question asking him to play it. He also claimed to not knowing about the censoship of If You Seek Amy! I know this is ridiculous! i read someone’s comments about if this is really all you parents can come up with? a cute girlie song, when people are still out there in schools shooting, and shooting up, and back talking their friends/families, I BET IF YOU FOUND THE PARENTS WHO ARE WORRIED THE KIDS MUST BE DISRESPECTFUL LITTLE SHITS to make a parent think their teachings wont be heard over a SONG… REMEMBER WHEN MTV SAID THEY WONT PLAY A SONG ABOUT GUNS? THEN WHICH ARTIST FINALLY GOT THEM TO? wasn’t it kaynya west or w/e his name is? I guess maybe, If you Seek Amy needs to take that route. BUT BS!! I LOVE YOUR MUSIC! SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL! & THESE PEOPLE WHO COME TO YOUR BLOGS AND WHATNOT AND SAY THEY HATE THE SONG, THEY”RE JUST JEALOUS! LIKE ME! I had your hairstyle in middle school, i have the same now, it looks good on me, BUT I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN IF I HADN’T IDOLIZED YOU! PLEASE COME TO THE PENSACOLA CIVIC CENTER! I KNOW ALMOST EVERYONE IN THE EMERALD COAST WILL SHOW UP TO ONE OF YOUR CONCERTS! OR TO THE HOTTEST CLUB IN PANHANDLE > THE SWAMP

KRISTINA | 3/26/2009, 4:56 pm EST

i guess the parents are looking more into it because i do not hear if you *f*u*c*k*m*e*!! BUT i aam kinda hoping you will make an explicit song with that, for US MATURE FOLK WHO WANNA SING SOMETHING AT A BAR, OR JUST IN THE CAR, I”M SICK OF EDITED SHIT, AND I WANNA SING A REAL SONG… IF this song is about a second side to britney spears, moms are jealous because they already f*u*c*k*e*d up by getting tied down, and they think they should withhold stuff like that from their kids, all they are doing is being over protective, making them wish BRITNEY SPEARS WAS THEIR MOM!

Your Worst Nightmare xx | 3/26/2009, 8:58 pm EST

I can sit here and right a story but I don’t care enough to or have the time to and I can sum up everything in a simple paragraph or two. Dads and soccer moms? Who “if you seeking” cares if Britney says f-u-c-k on the radio when? Really f-u-c-k is everywhere you use it yourself sometimes to, there’s no doubt that weather your pathetic kids hear this song or not will end up being 18 and using the word f-u-c-k anyways. It’s all over the world f-u-c-k in general so covering it up in a creative song? Isn’t going to make a difference. Change the channel and listen to your little soccer mommies perfect songs like Love Story :D you’re all jealous that nobody’s seeking you! And your old farts and useless energy and are control freaks and cant bare the thought of letting this song get out can you? The song is amazing, and so is Britney she’s just singing the truth the more you fuss and complain the more your if you seeking her! I wish you could see it but your to busy making NEWS CASTS and BLOG COMMENTS. Grow up please. And further more? How come it’s fair that Lil Wayne can sing about his “lollipop” and you don’t complain as a matter of fact your probably in your cars singing along to it why is it any different cause he changed the fraise dick to lollipop and lollipop is a kid term? Oh please. If you don’t like this song? You should take a listen to her album there’s worse then this take Phonography for an example wait till that song hits the radio :O your gunna go Phonecrazy calling everyone to stop playing that song aren’t ya? Britney’s hot, famous and your jealous and your kids are crying, so go help them instead of worrying about this song and go teach your kids 2 x 2 and how to write and if their having trouble’s in school. You wouldn’t believe how bad school is these days and to hear parents complaining over this song that will be on the radio for a few more months? And kids are out there dieing? And being bullied to death? And suffering from stress and depression makes me sick. This world worries about to many things that shouldn’t and don’t need to be worried about and forget the things that are most important. Britney hang in there and just know how far you came and it’s way to late to back down now. You’re amazing and thanks for making some of your songs that potentially saved my life, love you betch! Parents go jog around the block and go do some yoga or something to occupy your time cause this isn’t working out for you guys so take a hint and complain about how dumb you are.
This is the truth, and Im not dramatic Im just surrounded by idiots.
Any questions or concerns or complaints?
Everyone can “IF YOU SEEK AMY” how’s that for racy? ;)

marleigh | 3/26/2009, 9:12 pm EST

wait wait wait, okay, to all the people who said they would never have noticed the ‘F-U-C-K Me’ , did you think about the fact that the chorus made no SENSE? hello? “All of the boys and all of the girls are beggin to if you seek amy”

marleigh | 3/26/2009, 9:20 pm EST

“all of the boys and all of the girls are beggin to if you seek amy” that sentence makes no sense !!! that fact shouldve made you think about it and its completely obvious just SAY it “IF YOU SEEK AMY”

XNoFearNoRegretsX | 3/27/2009, 10:02 am EST

Who care’s about one little curse word?
If you seek amy is a great song.
And regardless if it secretly spells out F-U-CK-ME, it’s one little song.
I’m sure your child hears worse words coming from your damn mouth or other childrens mouth’s from school. Not everyone is innocent and trust me kids cursing is the least of your problems.
You have teenage sluts, parents, drug addicts and alot of far worse things out there to worry about then a song.
Just because you personally don’t approve of the song, doesn’t mean you speak for every single parent out there. My parent’s don’t care what I listen to because trust me there’s a lot worse thing’s I could be doing but don’t.
And I dare someone to criticize my parents when they’ve raised me good.
Just because a song say’s fuck me doesn’t mean that every little kid is going to go and get fucked by someone.
I hear songs about drugs and shit and I don’t do them and I’m seventeen. I swear you people need a hobby and need to back off Britney Spears.

K | 3/27/2009, 11:41 pm EST

Personally, I think it’s creative and brilliant. Leave it alone. You don’t like it. Don’t listen.

who-ber | 3/28/2009, 12:09 am EST

Does anyone remember The Poster Children’s single “If You See Kay”? This single received a substantial amount of airplay in 1992. Nobody cared then, nobody should now.

nightMare | 3/28/2009, 1:04 pm EST

Never been a Britney fan, but I have to admit that it’s a brilliant song… because it Does have a catching rhythm despite its meaning being entirely lost on a majority of its listeners. However, I’d have to agree that it shouldn’t be aired if children are tuned in, or can tune in – even if the parents may not be picking up on the subtle message; the fact of the matter is that the Powers that Be *DO* know what’s being said and, as a result, have a responsibility to keep the song off air regardless of its ambiguity.

Lastly? I sincerely hope that parents aren’t assuming that Britney Spears is Child Safe – after all, she’s not a teenager anymore.

Elly | 3/28/2009, 1:38 pm EST

The chorus didn’t make sense to me, so I had to look it up to see what it meant. (should I be embarrassed lol?) I think it’s very clever and little kids probably don’t even care what she’s saying, they just like the sound of the music. If they’re old enough to figure out what it means then they’ve surely already heard the word elsewhere, so what’s the big deal???

JJNJKJ | 3/28/2009, 2:05 pm EST

Ok, I am 11 and when I first heard the song, i was like omg, is that for real, dispite Britney’s past, she is still continuing to put out songs that are not only to be found with profinity, but to keep acting like an idiot, when just a couple of years ago, she had all the little girls and boys looking up to her….. i mean the clean versions, the song is a little better, and yes i admitt that it is very catchy…. but come on people, look any freakin’ songs like, low, hollywood whore, and right na na, don’t you think that your kids have listened to some worse music than this? And at one point Britney Spears was actually trying to put a positive turn on her life…. so it really doesn’t matter if you hate her or not, just lay off!!

stacey | 3/28/2009, 10:25 pm EST

to lee, if you do not understand the concept of this song, you must be specially challenged. and obviously you have time on your hands to sit here and criticize everybody else. thank you:) have a good day!!!

F.U.C.K ME | 3/28/2009, 11:52 pm EST

Seriously, you all do need to get over it.Its a totally brilliant and catchy song.If this parent counsel thinks this song should be banned from the radio, than why dont we ban disney from playing all there older disney movies on there stations. That would be stupid, because just like disney covers up all there hidden meanings so does this song.If im watching Lion King with my 5 yr old niece,im not gonna go “Hey Jenna, keep looking up at the sky, watch its about to spell sex.” Just like if I listen to this song around her im not gonna go “Hey,did you hear that Jenna? The song just spelled fuck me.Now just in case you dont know what that means, ill explain it…….”

I cant even make sense of my comment, thats how baffled I am about you parents complaining about this song.

Alonzo Empire | 3/29/2009, 9:04 am EST

It’s ironic because in the song Britney declares, “Love me, Hate me , Say what you want about me but, all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to fuck me.” Guess what. She’s right. Love her or hate her. She’s not going anywhere. So get over it. People like me will purchase the album and drive sales through the roof until she dies. She’s proVocative and probably a lunatic but, she’s entertaining. Britney Spears is a concept-a fantasy for fans like me. This is exactly the kind of scrutiny that drove this bitch to the loony bin. The song is what it is. It’s playful and it’s catchy. There’s a lot worse on television and the radio than this. Get a fucking life people.

Anonymous | 3/29/2009, 10:42 am EST

I actually didn’t get it until i read it on here. I thought it was about someone called Amy. But hey.

Some of these comments on here are as special as Britney herself. When will the general public understand that Britney Spears is just a puppet in the industry? She wears what she’s told, she says what she’s told, and she sings what she’s told. So she definitely did not write “If You Seek Amy”. She’s just a perfect candidate to sing something like that. The song was made to cause controversy, and for articles like this to be written… it’s great promotion for Britney is it not? After all we are all arguing about it. I do agree that it shouldn’t be on the radio though, Britney is too much of an influence on kids and even though she’s made it look ok to be promiscuous since “Hit me baby one more time”, this has gone too far.

KRISTINA | 3/29/2009, 2:12 pm EST

they air that american rejects song, HOPE IT GIVES YOU HELL, IF YOU SEE MY FACE HOPE IT GIVES YOU HELL.. & IF YOU WALK MY WAY, HOPE IT GIVES YOU HELL! HELL HELL HELL!!!!

Rad | 3/29/2009, 2:38 pm EST

Just to clarify for thosee people that don’t understand…………

If-f , U-u, See-c, KA-k, my(still pronouncing Amy)- me

jennifer | 3/29/2009, 5:39 pm EST

do you relize that britney is not a teen pop idol anymore….. she is a grown up now, her music is gonna change with her age. So if you as a parent do not like her music for what ever reason dont buy it for your children. And dont listen to “adult” radio stations if front of your children.Be a parent, your in control.

atploopy | 3/29/2009, 5:43 pm EST

all you ploopy people need to stop talking about britney spears, but this girl named brittany keaton is fatter than opah!!!! ok stop talking about it because its just a song!! peace ploopy!

Cmon now | 3/29/2009, 7:06 pm EST

How about they stop worrying about one damn song and worry more about the sh!t TV shows and movies that children are watching. Oh, and all the violence and profanity filled video games they are playing?
There are bigger issues than a Britney Spears song.

kate | 3/29/2009, 7:15 pm EST

haahha if you dont want your kid to listen to it, then turn it off? dont ruin everyone elses fun.. get the frig over it.
eathier way, weather you like it or not your kid is gonna hear it any way and chances are they dont even know what it means. So why does it matter?

And if they go to school, they already know about it ahaa, its not something you can stop.

Anonymous | 3/29/2009, 9:01 pm EST

haha i love this song anyway

eh-hem | 3/29/2009, 9:04 pm EST

like any other clever, subtle innuendo, if your kid understands it, they’re not that innocent

swish | 3/30/2009, 8:44 am EST

don’t be silly, there are a lot of crazy songs that suggest sex… like LOlipop… there just making issues…anyway, the song is great. Unfortunately, a lot of dirty minded people interpret the title as “FUCK ME!”…

rockme | 3/30/2009, 4:00 pm EST

Swish – you are obtuse – read the lyrics – of course that’s what it means – it’s a play on words

All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy

Does that sentence makes sense?

By the way, someone else wrote the song. Britney is not that clever.

realdeal | 3/30/2009, 4:20 pm EST

Britney is ALREADY filthy rich –
and getting richer – thanks to all these simple people who pay good money for this ridiculous crap she puts out. Britney Fans – truthfully – she doesn’t give hoot in hell about you. Someday she will be sailing the Carribean and grinning ear-to-ear. Where will you be?

Anonymous | 3/30/2009, 5:28 pm EST

As a mom and a fan – It’s a catchy tune. Songs have been racy FOREVER … shall we talk about the songs from the 80’s?? How about Woodstock??? Children are going to mimic what they are taught in the home. Trying to control everyone is not a great trait to be teaching … tolerance and differences in people would be a better lesson. Turn off what you don’t like … and let others have their own likes and dislikes … Use the on/off button ….

afreemind | 3/30/2009, 6:30 pm EST

Anyone who claims to be a Britney
fan – stay the f..k away from me.

Can you imagine having to sit on a plane next to someone wearing a Britney t-shirt? And they want to chit-chat. My god, what a nightmare. I’m getting ill just thinking about it.

vietvet | 3/30/2009, 8:05 pm EST

No wonder our country is going through andepression. Look at the simple minded old generation running it. It’s a very effing good thing that the new generation is taking over sooner.
Parents get it through your head!
It’s just a song and if you don’t like it then turn it the F**k off. No one is forcing you to listen to it. The more you complain about it just proves even more how simple minded you are. I’ll admit it’s a great song, and she does care about her fan’s hence the mtv vam’s you dip shit, I’m sure the jive records didn’t tell her who to dedicate her awards too. All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek amy doesn’t really make any sense when you sing it but who cares it’s not like your young child is going to figure out what it means. And if they do then maybe you should question them on how the hell they do know. School is more violent and etc. for your child then a song singing F**k me over and over again. Do something more productive with your time, then trash a wonderful artist my god there are afterall a lot more songs out there that deserved to be played after 10 or banned but I don’t see anyone going after them. And people can go and say it’s racist and all this other stuff but who cares. Music is wonderful and freedom of expression, if your not going to attack all of the bad music out there, then don’t single out one song because you don’t like it. Simply turn off the radio or go to a station that doesn’t play Britney Spears. Or play a cd.

Ariadne | 3/31/2009, 11:03 am EST

look i am 12-13 and i couldn’t care less about what the chorus says it’s a song that’s meant to be catchy and it quite frankly is gr8…little kids won’t work it out and besides there are songs by lets say 50 cent that say it but oh no…let’s all judge Britney!( btw little kids DO listen to 50 cent where i live…it is not only teenagers)

Ariadne | 3/31/2009, 11:08 am EST

just becuz some of us like the song that doesn’t mean we don’t like decent lyrics and meaningful lyrics you can like lots of different sorts of music

Ariadne | 3/31/2009, 11:11 am EST

besides I didn’t notice the hidden message untill someone ponted it out lol

truthseeker | 3/31/2009, 3:05 pm EST

In the music business it’s all about the money. Britney is basically a name, face, front, body
etc. The dance routines and most of the songs are created by other people. “Amy” was written and produced by Max Martin. She basically just acts out the role.
The people “behind the scenes” are very clever – they will push the envelope as far as they can to get more publicity and attention with the goal of one thing – make us rich. As an example – Rock fans -
remember Kiss – do you get my point.

When was the last time you saw her as a roll model? Let her express and make her money, she survived your scrutiny and grew up. Leave her alone, censor your kids, and move on.

TwilightFan ( L ) | 4/2/2009, 8:56 am EST

I could’nt believe it when I found out what it really meant. And to think thaty one day Britney’s kids will be listening to it and thinking ‘yeah thats my mum….’ I honestly think its really sick and stupid. Even though it is a catchy song and people are allowed to buy it and listen to it if they want it shouldn’t be put on the radio for children to listen to even if some people think that they wont understand because children these days do actually understand it.

Christina | 4/2/2009, 10:21 am EST

I love this song and I love Britney. I didnt even notice that it said fuck me until I watched WHAT THEBUCK show last night. I love this song. Stop making such a big fucking deal about it.

Mysterious | 4/2/2009, 12:07 pm EST

You know, there are many more other songs that are more rated R than this!!

I really don’t get it!

It’s actually stupid for the parents to make a big fuss about it since

1. Kid are gonna listen to it even more duh!
2. If you don’t like the song than don’t listen to it!!

GOD! There are so many more singers more X rated than her!! Why don’t you go complain on that!!!

farettera | 4/2/2009, 12:11 pm EST

she didn’t write the song…

and she gets the complainments

and the people who do write song that are rated X like snoop dog or little wayne or even 50 cent

there no complain on that??

MEhhh | 4/2/2009, 10:52 pm EST

Wow. i am 15 and i dint get it at first. i mean… i knew tht tha chorus dint make sense bt thn i startd ta sound it out. i actually lyk thes song alot. i don mind tha real meaning of it.
Nd P.S- If yu parents don want yur kids ta listen ta it… CHANGE THA STATION!!!

Alec Mcdowell | 4/2/2009, 11:40 pm EST

If parent’s would listen to a song once or twice instead of simply listening for reason to attack (Which is also the case, myself being a parent as well), they would know that children who aren’t yet familiar with the topic of ‘f-u-c-k’ will simply find the chorus confusing, and simply blow off the song as another one of Britney’s “Oops! I did it again”s. Or parents could take a moment of spare time, instead of writing that angry letter or Email, or even when
simply waiting in line for something, come up with a creative interpretation that can be utilized
while maintaining our children’s innocence. For example, I told my daughter, Marisa, that “all of the boys and all of the girls are begging (to the song) ‘If U Seek Amy”. While admittedly it is a stretch, she is young and accepted the explanation considering that to her knowledge there was none other, and I don’t see all the OTHER hot-headed parents trying to come up with anything!

emily | 4/2/2009, 11:46 pm EST

basically, when i found out what the song meant, i thought it was really clever. these parents can’t honestly say that the kids are being hurt by the lyrics, it’s clearly being played because it’s getting a good response. parents, suck it up, your kids like the song. stop calling britney a whore and trying to get a good song off the radio.

danielle | 4/2/2009, 11:52 pm EST

i will neither agree nor disagree over the issue-
i just wanted to point out that its ironic how parents are outraged that children are listening to a song with crude lyrics && yet 11 year olds are replying to posts on this website that seems to have an EXCESSIVE amount of crude language.. more than that damn song.. hmm……..

Lollipop | 4/3/2009, 7:17 am EST

I listen to all of the new music and I never heard the F word in the song. And I’m an adult.

Now that there has been so much publicity about it I know and so does every adult, child and non US native that reads the news.

Sometimes it’s better to leave things to the imagination and not spell them out. Then your children would have just wondered………so it’s really the adults who have made sure all the kids know!

What about songs like Lick Me Like a Lollipop? Sex is natural that is why everyone sings about it and does it!!

Ellenor xxx | 4/3/2009, 12:21 pm EST

I love britneys new song. I havent heard the f word in it and i’ve read the lyrics top 2 bottom. Tell me were it is. Ellenor age 11 from redka

So just get over it :)

nystomd | 4/4/2009, 3:07 am EST

haha, it makes me laugh that these complaints come from the generation who enjoyed the song “Little Red Corvette” …and we know that song is not about a car…

Weezy19 | 4/4/2009, 4:00 am EST

To be honest, I didn’t even realize anything until I heard people talking about it and my curiousity got the best of me and I googled this. I’m 19, listen to all types of music, and have probably blasted this song while driving around in my mustang. This was obviously done to boost sales and get attention, and all these orginazations and networks are doing is allowing Britney Spears to have her way and give her more and more attention.

I’m not a huge britney fan, however I believe if any other artisit would have released this song, it wouldn’t have gotten half the attention. And there are DEFINITLY worse songs and videos out there. Sadly, that’s what the music industry is, sex drugs and violence. And that’s goes for most genres, not just pop or rap or hip-hop.

Get Over It People.
Or just go “if you seek kay your shelves.”

peter | 4/4/2009, 12:41 pm EST

but i dont hear people talking about that.. DUMB FCKS

Oh for…

I’m a “rent”. To an EIGHT year old. I actually like the song and yeah, very clever lyrics but my 8 year old doesn’t need to hear that shit. Which is *exactly* why there is never radio play in my house or in my car.

Unfortunately there are too many parents out there who don’t pay attention or don’t give a shit or are too lazy to change the station when something like this comes on.

My kid can choose what she listens to when she’s older.

djdjdj | 4/4/2009, 8:38 pm EST

Okay, seriously… I didn’t even realize what she was spelling fuck until yesterday when my friend told me. My point is that it’s not that obvious. Little kids who don’t even know that word anyway aren’t going to figure it out either.

All I have to say is that people do not realize that the standards of living and decency are compromised when songs, videos, lifestyles or the sort capture the attention of kids especially. It affects everything you do and usually people with low standards do not make it far in this world. I can guarantee to you that other countries in this world who are economically growing do not have such low standards and for very good reason!!

hahhahaha. this is like my favorite song. just because i love the beat and all. i really had no idea that it had to do anything with anything sexual, or X rated until i read this. then i just listened to it and i actually sounded it out and i like died of laughter cause personally i think its hilarious. i mean im only 16 but i think that there are FAR WORSE songs then this, yes it is bad but there are alot of songs out there that are alot more provactive and have alot more foul language as well as more detailed descriptions about X rated things. so its pretty simple. if you dont want your kids to listen to it, change the radio station to like radio disney or something. but in all seriousness, this song isnt THAT bad, i mean think of it this way..it could be worse.

LauraB | 4/5/2009, 12:02 am EST

Wow. How many people live their lives sheltered? So many say that listening to certain types of music, watching pg rated tv or even video games with violence are no good for the children. No matter how hard someone tries stuff like this is always going to be around. I have 3 children 14, 10 and 6. My children are not censored. They understand what life is and what is around them. The only thing that they are censored from are veiwing sexual acts. Children aren’t corrupt from what the see, they are corrupt from what they don’t. As a parent wouldn’t you rather you children know what to expect in life. THERE IS NO AVOIDING IT. There have been many songs over the years making reference to sex. Does anyone remember She Bop by Cindi Lauper, it was about masterbation. I was just a kid when this song was big and didn’t understand it. I just learned this not too long ago. So stop the whinning. If you don’t want your children listening to this or anything like it, take away there computers, tvs, radio. While were at it lets keep them inside for the rest of their lives that way they will know nothing.

JustARandomPerson | 4/5/2009, 12:27 am EST

C’mon now. As mentioned a thousand times before: there are worse songs out there. Profanity has always been in music and probably always will be. There are better alternatives:
1. turn off the radio
2. play a CD you *will* allow your child to hear
And maybe think about this: If your child knows what it means, are they really that innocent? Do they need to be that guarded and have they been if they get the pun? If I was eight (which was six-ish years ago), I definitely wouldn’t.

tiredofit | 4/5/2009, 3:00 am EST

She always manages to create a stink about something. I JUST DON’T LIKE THE PERSON. THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT HER TO ADMIRE. People who do admire her are simpletons.

A_Girl_Who's_Fourteen | 4/6/2009, 12:31 am EST

It’s just a song. In two weeks it won’t even be that popular anymore. And as for kids knowing what it means, I think that’s a bit o a stretch. The first time I heard this song it took an adult to say: “Hey did you notice that it’s called, ‘If You Seek Amy,’ like ‘F-U-C-K ME?’ ” and about eight other people to get it before I did so it’s a little far fetched. Besides, unless the kid knows what the f-word is and means, then they’ll just be confused that the chorus makes no sense!

Edward_Lover_101 | 4/6/2009, 2:07 pm EST

If You Seek Amy!! lol

Higbe | 4/6/2009, 2:17 pm EST

Wait… does this mean that Britney’s not a postive role model for young girls anymore? Huh.

Alice Keymer | 4/6/2009, 7:13 pm EST

Another shit song that is “secretly” {LOL} spelling out something else. Cliches galore! Maybe one day Britney and her producer might write a song which sells on talent and becomes a classic, rather than a controversial one which dissappears after it hits number one and leaves the top 40 – like this one. There’s no talent here, move on.

everyonestfu | 4/6/2009, 11:41 pm EST

okay first off its freaken britney spears… your protesting over a little britney spears song mean while radio stations are playing vulgar rap songs? seriously? and im 15 and i didnt even make the connection until my friend told it to me. if you say it you dont make the connection unless someone told you. and if you were able to figure that out on your own, your one sick person.

carmen random 1 | 4/7/2009, 12:15 am EST

I dont get it why people love to be drama queens and make such a big deal of nothing. How would little children understand what it meant? I didnt understand it. I finally understood it when I saw mmmm whats her name forget it…XD yeah how could a little girl 4 example say if you seek amy ooo theres the f word! i bet they wouldnt look up the lyrics on google come on ! some parents are just over reacting! instead of making such a big deal just bild a bridge and get over it!!! just dont let your children listen to this shitty music and if you knew how britney spears is then why would you let em here her? i just have 1 more thing to se if you seek amy!!!!! alright put me in jail already ! if you dont ill be waiting!

i think that people should start getting lives. what about 50 cent who produces this music 24/7 and just becuase britney has never done something like this before (except gimme more) but even when that says its britney bitch, what did people say to that? nothing. im sorry right but i live in the uk and everyone loves the song. i was listening to it with my 9 year old niece and did she say out no! she just sat there listened to the song like other songs on the t.v
great song by the way x

possible1125 | 4/7/2009, 4:20 am EST

lol….I’m sorry, but if a kid can already spell that word, there’s a good chance that they are familiar with it and its usage. Do you parents really not remember being young? Realistically children are exposed to all kinds of things an over-protective parent would object to everyday. Don’t try to shelter you children, in the long run you’ll just cripple them.

Mollie | 4/7/2009, 9:32 am EST

Personally, I think this proves that Britney is a very clever person and not an overally bad role model, seeing as it took me ages to get it. I seriously doubt that a child would be able to ‘get’ this song and, even if they did, interperet it in a sexual way.

darkrose | 4/7/2009, 2:11 pm EST

jeeze this is stupid. sure the song title spells that out but if it bothers you that much, just don’t let your kids listen to it! also, there’s a lot of music worse than this on the radio and there’s a lot worse than this in school and work every day. i seriously doubt your kid will even realize what she’s saying. even if they do, they’re gonna hear it at some point, there’s no avoiding it in this society.

darkrose | 4/7/2009, 2:24 pm EST

and another thing – she actually has a very good point to make in this song. maybe you should look past your predjudice to see it. its much more important than worrying about a song on the radio

astupidtime | 4/7/2009, 2:30 pm EST

I wonder – 50 years from now, if Britney will be considered one of the world’s great artists from the past.

IF U SEEK AMY
I THOUGHT ITS TO DO WITH THE WORDS

BUT ITS THE WORDS THAT SPELL THE LETTERS

IF (F) YOU (U) SE (C) EK (K) AMY (ME)
SOMETHING LIKE THAT

love it :D

It's not entirely the lyrics | 4/8/2009, 3:01 pm EST

For all of you who are saying “well lil wayne’s lollipop gets played and no one complains about that!” Britney Spears was once an artist that young girls could listen to. Lil Wayne has never produced music that was child-appropriate. Britney has. Parents won’t know to turn the song off until it’s too late. So yes, when you’re an artist with young followers, people are absolutely going to bitch about your lyrics first. Also, just because she was able to make a sentence spell out “fuck” doesn’t make her “clever”. I don’t think this woman could BE any more full of herself. What a whore.

Amy | 4/8/2009, 4:14 pm EST

You guys dont get it. the song is about me (amy) and people are looking for me. . . duh!

Society has Evolved | 4/8/2009, 7:31 pm EST

Ppl need to accept the fact that society and social norms have evolved. Children are exposed to things at a much younger age then in previous years, what was unacceptable before is accepted now, taboo is no longer taboo.

Its just a natural evolution of cultures and society as globalization and modernization has brought information to everyone regardless of age.

Those fighting the trend have their beliefs which can’t be changed by anything said here, but in the end, they will either adapt or bury their frustrations as social norms continue to evolve past their personal experiences and expectations.

Just_another_face | 4/9/2009, 12:42 am EST

*Sigh* kids, kids, kids… Just go to sleep and wake up forgetting all about this, because none of what all of you say really matter’s. It’s called music! Music is a form of entertainment… Just enjoy the shit and quit your bitchin’! You all act like you’ve never heard or spotted a swear word in a song before. (If you really have not I suggest going to imeem.com and searching either eminem, kottenmouth kings, G-Unit, tupac, the game, lil wayne, young
jeezy.) It’s all made purely for entertainment/profit. Enjoy it while it’s available instead of wasting your time on here repeating what the 50th person said and everybody before them.

LauraB | 4/9/2009, 1:03 am EST

Just a random comment. The Lion King was made for kids and in the movie when Simba lays down there is a cloud of dirt. If you slow the movie down the word sex is spelled out in the cloud. This was one of the best Disney movies and people didn’t make such a big of it then they do this song.

Britney’s gonna have a new song yanoo and nobody will listen too this one anymore so i don’t get what the big deal is. Young children aren’t really gonna remember it when they’re older are they ? ahaa. i think it’s really gay tryiing to get it only aired at 6:00am and 10:00pm there’s not point ffs

Billy | 4/9/2009, 8:32 am EST

anybody notice how there is more offensive lauguage in this entire comments board then the song itself….

AC | 4/9/2009, 12:13 pm EST

I can’t believe we once had music like Derek and the Dominos and the Who and now this rag is still publishing covering this illiterate twit. The reactionaries were right. Even civilized pop has collapsed.

LM | 4/9/2009, 11:49 pm EST

Some of you people on here are so out of touch with reality. No, it’s NOT okay for a child to listen to this song. You teenagers on here may say that it is, but just wait until YOU have children. Heck, I don’t even have children yet and I know I would never allow such insolent filth in my home or on the radio in the presence of children. Plus, the song just sucks ass. To think I actually felt sorry for this “woman” (tramp) at one point, and then she pulls this crap out of her ass. How full of yourself could one person be? And people, where the hell did your standards go? It appears that you never had any? But the person talking about lil wayne lollipop: I also hated that song and i think its just as bad. Why cant people listen to good music anymore with a positive message like Rush? I mean, it doesn’t have to be Christian music for christ sake. I pretty much hate modern music because of this kind of depraved crap. Have some self respect. You’re better than this.

LM | 4/9/2009, 11:53 pm EST

hahaha, okay, so im a little foul mouthed, I’ll so have to clean that up before I have kids.

Just indulge them | 4/10/2009, 12:06 am EST

There once was a time when a guy and girl could be alone in a room together without having to rush to the altar to save the girls reputation. Now we blatantly talk about sex and not one bats an eye. Such is life. I know a lot of people of this generation are mad this song has been “controlled” but there isn’t anything we can do about it. To the former generation this song may seem immoral and inappropriate but to us its nothing we haven’t heard before. So lets indulge the former generation after all, 30 years ago this song probably wouldn’t have been produced let alone allowed on the radio. They may never get used to these subjects being publicized but, you never know, in 30 years we may be outraged parents complaining that a song is too graphic for our children to be listening to, and that generation will accuse us of acting like prudes. Scary thought really. So for now we will act like the rebellious teenagers we are and listen to the song on our ipods, and the adults can have the naive comfort of knowing thier kids aren’t listening to this song on the radio. As to whether or not Britany is intelligent, all i can say is her intelligence has no relevance to her job. Her record company didn’t sign her on for her brains, as mean as that may sound, she is here to entertain us and you have to admit through her failures and her successes she has entertain us. Because if she didn’t, she would have never ended up on tv and magazines so often. But remember no matter how much you dislike her, their will always be people who idolize her. Another scary thought. Although, I can’t help but wonder how many of us bother to listen to the lyrics of songs anymore, let alone care.

hichem-toxic | 4/10/2009, 8:50 am EST

pppppfff… you parents… you r just trying to have a subject to discuss… you are just trying to make yourselves look like great parents with complaining about a simple song… don’t tell me that ur kids don’t know that word “fuck you”….. i’ll bet that you said it zillion times in front of them…… and now you are pissing off brit….. if you don’t like it don’t listen to it… ok it’s that simple.. poooor people… but i think this is unfair you are just keeping going after her….. while lil’ wine is a bad ass hitting the radios with his shitty lyrics….. PARENTS iF U seeK ayo…….. go to hell….
a good parent will never complain about a song if he’s sure about what he is giving and teaching his child….. ur just trying to make yourselves lokk like good parents… trust me it doesn’t work.. FUCK YOU

14 year old kid | 4/10/2009, 2:54 pm EST

I had no idea what it said till someone told me. I listened to the song and got it. I sing it around my house and no one gets and I have a little brother and he has no idea what it means. All of you people are throwing this out of proportion. If you seek amy is a good song. And it’s great when you add someone elses name instead of Amy. Like if you seek Jake!:)

TechCrew | 4/10/2009, 5:49 pm EST

We just heard the song for the first time just ten minutes ago. We believe it overly smart of Britney to have “hidden” messages in her songs since she went crazy. The song is probably only understood by high schoolers who are surrounded by sexual innuendos every day and anyone younger who gets the song probably had its meaning explained to them.

Jen | 4/10/2009, 7:39 pm EST

I didn’t even know there was a message in the lyrics until I saw the video, and I still didn’t figure it out until I came on here.
Parents spell out words all the time so that their kids don’t know what they are saying.
Besides… a lot of kids listen to songs from “Grease”, and Greased Lightning has lyrics that refer to the car as a pussy wagon, and I think that is way more obvious than Spear’s play on words.

Anonymous | 4/11/2009, 2:19 am EST

to finish the comment below im 18 and can honestly say that the first few times i heard this song i has no idea what it meant. so i dont think you need to worry about an 8 year old understanding it because it probly wont happen. why would they think about that anyway. obviously if they’re 8 and can come up with that, then you’ve probly already introduced them to much worse things. get over it.

If there’s one thing I like about all this controversy surrounding ‘Amy’, it’s that it has created immense publicity for Britney and her new album! Way to go parents! ;)

If you seek a this | 4/11/2009, 5:51 pm EST

At 19 I didn’t get the innuendo for a good 10 minutes after finding out there was one, and I’m not the least bit sheltered. Its clever, but anyone that it’s too mature of a joke for should not get it. More importantly, there are way worse songs on mainstream radio so either get over it or dont let your snotty brats listen to the rado at all. jeez.

B | 4/12/2009, 5:50 pm EST

I’m 16 and honestly it took me hearing someone else pointing it out to even realize what it even said. If parents are so concerned about what their children are exposed to they better start homeschooling them because there is no way that the word fuck is avoidable. I’m not even a fan of Brittany Spears but chill out if you don’t want your kids listening to this song change the radio station when it comes on. Not that difficult, those buttons are there for a reason. And seriously there are way worse songs out playing on the radio; really it’s not even new music. Oldie songs are pretty much all about sex. Example: I wanna sex you up, lets get it on, Why don’t we do it in the road. All classic songs all about sex. Really. Shut the hell up, stop wasting everybodies time complaing about stupid stuff and realize that this shit is going to happen. Kids are going to hear bad words and learn about sex. And believe it or not at one point they will say those bad words and have sex. Yes that doesn’t mean expose them to it all at a young age but don’t flip a bitch, if they are that young either they should be listening to stations that play those types of songs or they won’t even get it unless someone points it out. Oh and Lil wayne’s lollipop…I didn’t hear anyone complaing about that. What the hell he is saying shawty wanna hump, you wanna lick the rapper and she licked me like a lollipop. I’m pretty sure you know that’s not appopriate.

P.s. Who ever LM is, when you said you wouldn’t allow such insolent filth in your home did you not realize that you sound kinda hypocritical after cussing is seen as filth and your comment was filled with it.

crzyazngrl | 4/13/2009, 12:55 am EST

okay, i had nooo idea what this song was called or about, i just thought it had like the best tune ever…so i’m in HS and i dont think anyone under like the 7th grade would even get this…surely i didn’t…so ya get over it..

Megan | 4/13/2009, 1:11 am EST

I’m 22 and listened to the song for a good month before someone told me what it meant and even then it took awhile for me to hear it. if people would stop talking about it i’m sure not many would realize

I personally find this song “if you seek-ing” hilarious! “If You Seek Amy” should definitely be put on a Mad Gab card! :)... G ood song too.

P3 | 4/13/2009, 10:25 pm EST

If someone listening to the song doesn’t like it themselves or doesn’t approve of their child hearing the song on the radio, change the radio station. It’s not like anyone is being forced to listen to anything.

mary juana lopez | 4/14/2009, 4:23 am EST

I just saw part of the video and I did not get the reference. I liked her other songs better. I don’t understand the hiding – fuck me – that’s pretty lame that she’s that hard up for cock. Desperate much?

DM | 4/14/2009, 2:24 pm EST

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONNNNNEEEE!!!!!!!!!!LOL

elixir | 4/14/2009, 6:55 pm EST

Leave Britney alone? Does she leave us alone? She’s already super rich – and now she wants to make more money off the backs of the public by purveying this white trash crap. Screw her.

KiwiMum | 4/14/2009, 9:57 pm EST

ok so i was looking at email and my 15 year old brother and my 11 year old daughter ( i am 33) were listening to brit on the radio and my brother was sayin oooh they want to ban this song and i asked why and listened to it …..he couldnt tell me why at all he knew is it was on the radio being talked about ….he didnt even want to listen to the song because it was by brit spears although once they said they wanted it banned he did he said its cos its got if you seek amy in it i said ok and whats so wrong with that?..he said i think amy doesnt like the song …now i so have a foul mouth but my daugter doesnt and my brother doesnt either ..now what about the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds old song yes but wasnt that supposedly about LSD?, what about the song So i got high, what about the pcd song dont cha and what about the clarence cater song stroke it ? come on we cant screen our kids forever the only ones who will know the meanins of songs would be those educated in the area of sex or drugs kids not brought up with sex and drugs and swearing probab;y wouldnt know anything except the song they like is fun to dance to and has a catchy tune ….. i will let my daughter listen to it cos she doesnt know about sex and doesnt get how if you seek amy relates to fuck neither does my brother and hes 15 for that matter neither did i till i started diggin into it and found here
think before you open your outraged mouths and if you discuss it in front of your kids or keep it from them i hope they get curious and look into it themselves or hear you and you inadvertantly educate on this song and others now ooh and one more thing dont let them kisten to hip hop goodness they might hear about sex more and drugs more and killing too

Yelhsa | 4/15/2009, 7:54 pm EST

Yeah, I never let any of my little cousins listen to britney spears, I don’t even let myself listen to the inappropriate crap she is playing. If she is gonna make a song, she should make it so it doesn’t sound like a desperate whore.

Pearl | 4/16/2009, 12:26 am EST

I’m from the Louie Louie generation. Banned big time from the radio. I still love music. Louie Louie didn’t screw up our generation, and it wasn’t even about sex – though parents were convinced that it was. Britney’s work shouldn’t be banned. There’s no danger in her music persuading a teenager to have sex. Raging hormones take care of that job adequately.

artist09 | 4/16/2009, 12:44 am EST

well i think its funny you all are bitchen about whats being played on the radio, i think its funny she says fuck me. And i think people don’t realize it. Now to be honest she sucks at life in what ever she does, but if it pisses people off thats awesome, esp if it corupts our youth. I mean shit kids know so much junk from tv and their enviorment around them so hardly think parents complaining about her saying this matters. So to all you parents get off your high horse and chill or smoke some pot hahaha.

Raychel | 4/16/2009, 2:32 am EST

Some people man…I don’t know why Britney is always being targeted! There are songs being played on the radio 10x worse! She is not litteraly screaming F**K me! This “message” is VERY hidden, there is NO WAY any child or even teenager would ever hear this song and think “yeah shes singing f**k me”
Again there are songs being played such as FLo rida – right round….from the top of the pole i watch her go down. I mean in comparison that is worse but NEVER again complaints against other artists this makes me feel bad for Britney.

Anonymous | 4/16/2009, 7:42 am EST

get the fuck over it, dope song!

Steph | 4/16/2009, 11:04 am EST

You’ve GOT to be kidding me. Like she’s not trashy enough, she has to put out a song THAT CLEARLY has a “hidden” message to it. Good one Brit. If i had my name dragged through the mud every……4 seconds of the day, I would not be drawing more negative attention to myself. I don’t know, that’s just me. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. You guys who are Brittany die hards, who do you think writes her shitty music???!!! HER??!! Ya, my ass! Writers people. No originality, and totally taking advantage of this opportunity she’s been given ( time and time again), to do something good. You know how many people would DIE for a shot at the “big time”. And she makes a mockery of it. When is the “I’m not a girl, not yet a woman”, going to finally BECOME A WOMAN!!???

axiom | 4/16/2009, 1:50 pm EST

Quite simply – many people don’t like or respect Britney because of her character. She has been a twit. Many people don’t like the Disney baby teen star thing. The
next one we are going to hear about for years is Miley – God help us.

BRI | 4/16/2009, 1:59 pm EST

AHH SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!! LET THE WOMAN SINGS WHATEVER SHE WANTS IF IT WERE YOU GUYS MAKING THE MONEY YOU WOULDNT HAVE A DAMN THING TO SAY. IT JUST A SONG YOU GUYS. THERE ARE WAY WORSE SONGS OUT THERE THAT PEOPLE LISTEN TO INCLUDING KIDS AND NO ONE EVEN BOTHERS TO HIDE THE MEANING. SHUT THE HELL UP. IF YOUR KIDS ARE LOOKIN FOR ROLE MODELS IN ANYONE BUT YOU THEN YOU OBVISOULY DONT DESERVE TO BE IDOLIZED DUMB ASS

Liz | 4/16/2009, 2:55 pm EST

Are you kidding me? You fkn yuppies are going to complain about something else yet again? Listen, if your kids like the song, who gives a flying cow shit. If they “understand” what the lyrics are supposed to mean, then blame yourself for not being a good enough parent for crying out loud. I’m going to go listen to “Squeeze Box” by the Who. Take care you dumb fks. :)

get off your lazy game playing, Youtube watching asses and do something worthwhile.

Amazing | 4/16/2009, 6:48 pm EST

This song is not half as bad as what your children are hearing and doing in school or with their friends. It is amazing that there are parents who want to shelter their children from everything. IT IS JUST A SONG! I also guarantee that some of these “parents” have taken their children to R rated movies. I just don’t understand the obsession.

ana | 4/16/2009, 8:56 pm EST

GET. OVER. IT.

nadine | 4/17/2009, 12:21 am EST

HM…HOW ABOUT EVERYONE WHO DOESN’T LIKE BRITNEY’S NEW SONG SHUT UP ABOUT IT ALREADY. LIKE COME ON GROW UP IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE DAMN SONG DON’T LISTEN TO IT & DON’T BITCH ABOUT IT EITHER. ITS PATHETIC THERE ARE PARENTS WHO CAN ACTUALLY TRY TO GET RADIOS IN TROUBLE FOR PLAYING THE SONG. IF YOU LIKE IT GOOD FOR YOU IF YOU DON’T OH WELL THATS LIFE GO LISTEN TO SOMETHING THAT APPEALS TO YOU.

someone who isn't a moron. | 4/17/2009, 8:06 am EST

Tbf, yeah, Britneys new song spells out ‘fuck me’.. but so what? It’s understandable why parents are getting upset that their children are hearing this, but come on, half of them don’t know what it means, they think they’re singing ‘if you seek amy.’ Parents and what not should just leave Britney to it and stop being so stuck in old ways. this is the 21st century, sex is a pretty open thing that your children are probably exposed to in other, more obvious things anyway.

And half these comments are totally off topic. If you don’t like Britney anyway why comment? It’s obvious you won’t like this song if you don’t like her other ones. So piss off and stop wasting your time yeah.(y)

Simple | 4/17/2009, 9:41 am EST

Plain and simple. If you like Brittany, your a dink.
That’s it, and that’s all.

Enjoy that.

Wah | 4/17/2009, 5:42 pm EST

So this is just like the “perverted” background of the cover of the Little Mermaid? I didn’t she had it in her to be that cunning. The real test is in her concerts if she actually sings the “K” – unless it’s prerecorded : / then again if your not LOOKING for it you probably won’t HEAR it.

nikki | 4/17/2009, 8:22 pm EST

yeah, this song is horrible. it doesn’t sound good, it’s been done before, it’s nothing new ,but to complain about this when virtually every song on the radio is inappropiate nowadays is absurd. They need to be complaining about the issue as a whole not an insignificat crumb.

Brett | 4/18/2009, 6:57 pm EST

to be honest with ya guys.
britneys hot, again.
the songs quite sexy.
and if she’s asking me to fuck her?

To clear up the Lucy in he Sky w/ Diamonds. Julian came home w/ a drawing he had made at Heath House nursery school. John asked him what it was.
Julian liked a girl named Lucy O’Donnell in his class and replied it was Lucy in the sky w/diamonds.
You can also find the actual drawing online as our young son used it during a John Lennon report.

heeey! I just got that! It’s a good song tho. btw ‘Lee’ See sounds like c.

Anonymous | 4/23/2009, 12:48 am EST

If these parents don’t want their children to listen to the song all there dumb asses have to do is flip the channel, or change the station, or just make them listen to and watch Disney.

elixir | 4/23/2009, 3:03 pm EST

The point is – Britney and her record label are using cheap tricks to get attention – to draw people in – and ultimately make a ton of money – she’s is the perfect example of a “sellout”.

Stacey | 4/26/2009, 11:56 am EST

You know, it’s actually sad. Just when you think she’s trying to pull herself out of the gutter, you’re reminded that even with a court appointed guardian that wants to call himself a “father” it’s impossible for her to do so. Is Hollywood out of competent career advisors? Pretty sad when my 12 year old daughter tells me she thinks Brittany is disgusting. I’m in my mid 30’s. Who is her audience? ..and since when does “107,000 people buying the song digitally” an acceptable success for a “superstar?” Yuck!

elixir | 4/28/2009, 6:15 pm EST

Anything that comes out of Disney is just pure commercial bullshit. Now we have Miley. It’s endless torture.

the rockstar | 4/30/2009, 3:25 am EST

it’s sad, it’s one thing to stand on a soap box and flip off an adult but to put this in a song that twelve years olds listen too is wrong. Britney is a tool, I don’t even think she comprehends whats going on. But it seems like for some reason the media is pushing a bisaexual agenda, which is totally twisted. If you ride the fence your gonna have to get off on one side or the other or pretty soon you’ll fall off one side of the other and your gonna get hurt real bad.

the rockstar | 4/30/2009, 3:33 am EST

rock and roll started as a rebellion, the funny thing is for it to be true today, you’d have to sing about decency, and love, peace and God and watch people freak out on you!!!!

AbercromebieFreakk | 5/3/2009, 1:05 am EST

Honestly im 13, all these parents are complaing and itts fuckin stupid! if yure kids know what the song is about, yu either told them or they have been exposed to sexual things before this song, so dont blow itt all on brittany!! dumbasses! Like seriously there are way worse things yure kids could be doing then listening to this song,so what the hell!?! i think itt was genious that she covered itt up by saying- If U Seek Amy- Shes not the only singer who sings about sex. like what about lady GaGa?? she just comes right out and says the shit and all yu complain about is brittany spears! Get a fuckin life!

AbercromebieFreakk | 5/3/2009, 1:14 am EST

Ohh and by the way.. All yu parents say FUCK too, so why is itt so bad when she says it?? if yure kids are younger than 12 and dont get it dont freakin tell them what its about! DUHH!!! then there should be no problem.

Anonymous | 5/3/2009, 3:23 am EST

Come on.. honestly, your all turning this song into a big deal. Interpreting the lyrics so that you can all have a bitch about Britney. I’m personally not a massive fan but geez.. give it a rest. There’s defiantly been worse. Everyone to their own; listen to what you want.

Hmm, how interesting | 5/3/2009, 1:19 pm EST

It’s funny that so many who write here who are critical of this song use such foul language. Some hypocrisy if you ask me. Britney is the reigning queen of Pop and we should treasure her talent and be thankful for her dad for bringing her back from the brink of Anna Nicole.

givemeabreak | 5/10/2009, 1:38 pm EST

Britney has no class. The clubs in LA/Hollywood she attended…. do you know what they do there in the so-called VIP rooms. You talk about sluts. Most of Britney’s fans are naive and ignorant. She’s a low breed.

John | 5/10/2009, 6:28 pm EST

Well, atleast she doesn’t come right out and say “All of the boys, and all of the girls are begging to Fuck Me” Smart girl for covering it up…
Btw, all you parent complaining about the song… Shut the FUCK UP!
You don’t fucking like it? Don’t let your child watch TV/Listen to Radio.
Because a Britney Spears song is the least of your worries.

caz | 5/11/2009, 6:29 am EST

hey Rockstar….watch with the discriminating comments about bi-sexuals… and on the topic about Britney’s song….it’s just a song peoples! Whoever wants to complain about it being bad for kids..you are way too late. Some idiot came up with the idea that children should start sex-ed a lot younger than they should! Now we have a rise in very young mothers out there who learned how to have sex before they even reached grade six!
If you seek Amy should be the least of your worries. That comes from a 32 year old mum who doesn’t let her daughter listen to songs like that! Catchy song though!Kinda grows on ya…. lol.

Smart | 5/17/2009, 2:40 am EST

Brittney=bitch. I hate her. DON’T LISTEN TO HER DAMNED SONGS IF UR GONNA BITCH ABOUT IT. plain and simple.

“all the boys and all the girls are beging to f u c seek me” and not george becuse if you say”
uh-me its like saying amy but uh me so its me

Uvula | 5/28/2009, 9:00 am EST

all you dumb-asses who say “change the channel” or “don’t let your kids listen to it..” blah blah blah…you obviously DO NOT HAVE KIDS. do you think parents are that dumb? obviously, since they ‘raised’ you. they’re talking about the things THEY CAN’T CONTROL!!! like what they do when they hang out with their friends.
so, if you don’t have kids now, PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE: KEEP IT THAT WAY.
and that 13 year old – AbercrombieFreak – you’re fucked. You swear like that? your parents obviously don’t care about you. You must be their 4th or 5th kid. Am I right?

seriously? | 5/31/2009, 3:17 am EST

how the hell do your little children even know how to interpret that. i guarantee they dont even pay attention to what the lyrics mean so why the hell do you care so much. and if they do know what it means you’ve already taught them wayyy too much so get on with your lives and find something way more legit to complain about. puhleez.

oh and btw the radio doesnt even say if you SEEK amy it says if you SEE amy. so unless you bought them the cd (which in that case them learning what it really meant would be completely your fault) or the heard it unedited some other way, they AREN”T going to figure it out. Ok??

hah | 6/9/2009, 2:02 pm EST

Stuff like this comes out all over, it’s not just her music. People are just mad because they were tricked the first time, and want their revenge by raising publicity about it. Too bad there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Amy | 6/10/2009, 10:16 pm EST

I’m 33 and I had no idea what it meant until I heard all the buzz about it and decided to look it up. My girls are 13 and 9 and they have no idea. They just thought it was cool b/c it had my name in it!
The problem with a lot of parents out there is that they make things known by making a big deal out of them and then the kids find out. If everyone would just shut the hell up, then it wouldn’t be such a big deal. I like britney and all of her songs. She’s a lot better than all those hip-hop guys like Lil’ Wayne that they play on the radio…. “I want to f#&@ all the girls in the world”…. and “Lick it like a lollipop”, even that Lady dip$#&@ singing “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” Radio stations are blatent about playing suggestive “sexual” material, and as far as expletives they try to cover them up, but even kids know how to fill in the blanks. But that’s ok????? People just suck. Let’s focus more on the negative messages that are right in in our kids faces…not some stupid hidden message. No little kid knows what Brit’s song means unless they: 1. were informed by a much older kid or adult or 2. are just plain warped.

IF-U-Seek | 6/16/2009, 2:24 pm EST

Before becoming a parent, I thought that parents should and could control the music their children listen to. That’s not true. Children are more influenced by peers. And, as a parent, it’s important to pick the important battles. Drugs are worth going the fight. Music choice just isn’t worth it. Especially when raunchy lyrics will be heard outside the home, in loud cars, kids at school, etc. Also, children are wise enough to know that “all the boys and girls are dying to if you seek amy” doesn’t make sense, that there has to be another meaning. Spears appears to be marketing herself to children as well. At least no adult of normal intelligence would purchase her CD.

Love her, hate her, say what you want about her but, All of the Boys and All of the Girls are Begging To F-U-C-K Her!
Haha!
Keep it spinnin’ Britney!
They more talk the heavier your

The Princess of Pop has truly returned.

The grammar of some people on this page is horrendous. If some of you people saying “get over it” want to be taken seriously, at least spell correctly first.

umm | 6/27/2009, 7:58 pm EST

I find it ironic that people complain about a song and there was a 13 year old kid on this website and read all the swears you people wrote. lets think about this

Den- Kim | 6/28/2009, 1:57 am EST

i dont get it there no c in if u seek amy

So dont listen to that song

Linda | 6/28/2009, 2:10 am EST

Wink, this is an online community not an English 151 class. Their internet jargon or lingo is their language.Forums like these are laid back, informal discussions. Gett Ovar Itt! Oh yes, and since when does spelling incorrectly take away your right to voice your opinion?

britney#1fan | 6/28/2009, 3:42 am EST

FIRST OFF i think this is whole thing is ridiculious!! its a great song and if the parents dont like their children listening to it..then its as simple as shutting the damn radio off! i hate when other people ruin it for others!! there are far worse songs out there! soo all yall who have a problem with this song need to get a freakin life!
keep doin what your doin britney..you will always have haters

Your Name Here | 7/2/2009, 9:27 pm EST

Britney, your maturity level is nowhere near what one would expect of a 28 year-old woman.

All you’re doing is filling this world with garbage. Nothing of value – only garbage. That’s really a pathetic waste of a life.

Eeh | 7/6/2009, 8:10 am EST

This song is brilliant! I love things that makes grown up´s, hwo are trying to protect the childrens for everything, angry. But what the hell?! They say the word fuck in almost every song so hwo cares?

Bill Baker | 7/6/2009, 6:48 pm EST

I dont see what the big deal is shes trying to find amy and seek her out…..The u.s. should be trying to help her

THE SKY IS FALLING | 7/7/2009, 10:52 am EST

OMG, How dare she make such a contrevery and corrupt all the innocent minds of the world, we are all going to die and go to hell because of this song, and all our kids who heard a swear word will now grow up to be murderers and criminals because of britney !!

mongol | 7/9/2009, 10:56 pm EST

Equinelover. | 7/13/2009, 7:58 pm EST

WOW!
Britney Spears is a little bit of a slut. This song is so about her wanting to get fucked. She can’t take care of her kids. But she loves the sex part. She’s a total and complete whore, I had to read this article because well it’s interesting to see what’s going on in the whore’s life.

Truthfully, I’m not a huge fan of Britney, but I’m not a “omg she’s playing horrible shit” sort of person either.

Think about it. All the songs out there. People adored Eazy-E, ever listened to his lyrics? How about all those lyrics about sex, such as “Pillow Talk”? Would this be such a big deal if she’d just said the word instead? Would you have minded if she’d bluntly said “F-U-C-K Me” rather than “If You Seek Amy”?

Cookie jar’s about cheating, and woman being “dough”. Drowning Pool and Distrubed are great bands I listen to, along with my classmates and their parents, while I’m only 14; hello, people, let you children listen to music in general and unless it’s religious it’ll contain either killing people (Let the Bodies Hit the Floor, Perfect Insanity, Inside the Fire) or sex (Pillow Talk, The “Disco Stick” song, Cookie Jar, Smack That).

So, I’ve listened to this song, I’m not going out in the streets suddenly asking random men for sex. I’m not going around asking “If You Seek Amy”. If I was, well, I’d be rather weak-minded. What about all those movies out there? Transformers had suggestive content in it, and it’s about ROBOTS.

Get over the song. I have the unclean version, it says “F U C K Me”, not “If You Seek Amy”, and I’m blantly aware of the content.

Trying to make the radio clean or the house sterile from this stuff makes things worse and can even cause pressure when your kid is living in the outside world; you might as well know about it and then know not to do it then be told by a friend who skips over any bad details. It’s an inappropriate song, yes, but all-in-all, very few songs save for Nursery Rhymes and Gospel are “appropriate”.

lalalalalal | 7/15/2009, 3:06 pm EST

i just like the tune hhahah and stop complaining theres worse music out there

Edward | 7/16/2009, 6:08 pm EST

you are all a bunch of haters.. britney rules!!

callmecliche | 7/18/2009, 5:57 pm EST

get. over. it. If their youung they won’t get it (it took me 2 weeks to) and the only way they would get it is if they know what the F-word means and you can’t blame a song for that!

GiRLY-GiRL | 7/24/2009, 10:42 am EST

OVERPROTECTiVE MUCH?
iT’S LiKE SOME OF THE OTHER GUYS HAVE SAiD…

if u seek amy….haha. wow thats reallyclever, whoever thought of it first, you have to give them that. and yah, if your kid can figure that out, they are old enough to hear it. if not, then they dont know what it means and thats fine too. its a song, okkkayyy???? everyone will get over it so dont fREAK.

Sara | 8/14/2009, 8:03 am EST

The work FUCK is actually an abreviation coming from the olde English phrase – fornication under the constent of the King and was eventually shortened to the more commonly known fuck in the 1800s. So what is the big deal???

Hotmama | 8/26/2009, 5:45 pm EST

I had no idea about this and we (my kid and I) have been singing this all of time because it is so catchy. Actually, it’s genius….LOL.
Britney, you got us good. I personally think…it’s a song, it’s HER song, and if you don’t like it, turn it off.

figure it out | 8/29/2009, 5:26 pm EST

IT IS BASIC OBSCENITY LAWS YOU IDIOTS!!! The law is there and if Britney or her promoters cannot prove that the meaning of the song is anything other than what is being said than NO IT SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED ON GET THIS PART PUBLIC RADIO!!!!
Watch the video and put it all together, is it a big deal to me NO but for christsakes see it for it really is and that is obscenity over PUBLIC AIRWAVES

Hugo | 9/1/2009, 12:23 am EST

Lasha: Your mother should have swallowed & done us all a favor.
Amy: You rule!
Michael: Ani Difranco. :)
Lee: Look up “phonetics” on Google.
Sarah: Because the emperor has no clothes.
dude: Agreed.

J K | 9/2/2009, 7:40 am EST

I agree, I just saw this video on mtv at 6:30 in the morning when kids are getting up for school, and i was like ‘what? she is sayin F-U. . me’ but i figured they wouldn’t let that on the air let alone the radio. The more i listened to it tho i kept hearing it and when i saw the title i actually thought it was pretty clever. But i still think they should keep that song on the c.d. only.

Elijah | 10/1/2009, 6:23 pm EST

@figure it out:
all the record company has to say to get the radio people off their backs is this: “It’s about a girl named Amy.”
What nobody seems to understand is that the whole meaning has to do with perception. the song never actually mentions sex, and technically neither does the video.
There’s nothing to prove.
It may be obvious that the song is about sex, but anyone who watches CSI knows that “obvious” doesn’t count. You have to have physical proof. there is none.
and for god’s IF U SEEK-ing sake, IT’S A SONG! a silly bubble gum pop song. get over yourselves. go after lil wayne and his lollipop, or snoop dogg and his obssesion with sexual eruptions, flo rida and his love of going down on people. if you want to be that over-controlling, go live like the amish. where there’s no internet for you to annoy me.

@Equinelover:
take a second and think about britney’s position at the time. i wouldn’t be able to function too well if one of my music producers was drugging me. and i wouldn’t be able to function too well if when he left, i woke up and realized i had gone so far downhill not even thomas the tank engine could save me. You people are ridiculous. i hope to god every one of you insensitive IF U SEEK-ers loses everything one day, and everyone just shuns you, ignores you, and you rot in hell for a change. karma.

~~~~
i am a 16 year old boy. that defines as one of the horniest, pubescent creatures on earth.
even i can stop thinking about IF U SEEK-ing for four seconds to think through this shit rationally. thinking is a good thing. some of you should give it try.
**BEATLES RULE**
**LIL WAYNE DROOLS**
Raz Levi | 10/2/2009, 1:19 am EST
I thought it was a brilliant idea,
she got away with saying what you’re not supposed to say…
Katebug | 10/23/2009, 5:23 pm EST
ok she already has a song bout people screwing her over, “Piece of Me”.
yeahway | 11/6/2009, 5:41 pm EST
The funny thing is at my gym they cut out the line “if you seek amy” so it just goes “begging to…” and without knowing the lyrics I had imagined them as being far worse and more explicit. lol.
Anonymous | 11/7/2009, 11:30 am EST
Hey, if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. Nobody’s holding a gun to your head and forcing you to listen to the radio station. If you listen to KISS at all, then this song is no different. You want clean and catering to kids? Put a Barney CD on. Don’t expect all radio stations making money off of this CD to cave in to parents exposing their children to this. How about being a good parent and not exposing them to this or anything else? That includes damaging second hand smoke, the damaging effects seeing a parent drink has, oh, yeah, and the little to no respect today’s youth have because parents are too afraid to act like parents. If you don’t like a song, don’t listen, change the station. The rest of us aren’t going to cave in to your whining.
Anonymous | 11/7/2009, 11:54 am EST
BTW, i have a 6 year old and 4 year old. I don’t play the radio around them. It’s my JOB as their parent to monitor what they do 24/7. For those whining that they absolutely can’t, then maybe you shouldn’t be parents because you’re too lazy for the job. If you work, make sure the people your child(ren) is/are around don’t play these things. Such as a certified child centered day care. Those who say “well I can’t do it, so everybody else must” are out of their minds. It was YOUR choice to have children, so now it’s YOUR JOB to parent them. My own children do not fight (thank God), respect their elders, and behave in public because that is what I taught them from the time they could understand anything. Mine aren’t those annoying little brats screaming at the top of their lungs for every little thing they see. I taught them better than that as their mother, and I didn’t have to abuse them to get that message through. I taught by example. Maybe those parents who are so offended by this should do the same, teach your children by example instead of being so lazy and selfish that all you care about is yourself and expect everyone else to do YOUR JOB.
