Jason Eickmeyer was a 15-year-old star wrestler at his New Jersey high school when a gym teacher with a reputation for dallying with her students took a special interest in him. The trauma he suffered when she put a stop to their brief affair ended his athletic career, college prospects and ability to relate to his peers. What really happens when every boy’s fantasy becomes reality? Read the full feature below, plus writer Sabrina Rubin Erdely explains how she reported this controversial story in an insular high school environment, and muses on what went wrong in Eickmeyer’s tiny Jersey town. Also, click above for a clip from the upcoming documentary After School — the film follows Owen LaFave, the ex-husband of the notorious Debra LaFave, the former beauty queen who was convicted in Florida of having sex with one of her students.

While this is a serious issue, I couldn’t help but think, while reading this article, “Damn, that South Park was more perceptive than I thought”…

Maybe the biggest double standard in America. When a woman teacher does this, its looked at “seriously” but with a chuckle and a wink. When a man teacher does it, look out testicles.

If you’re hot shit in high school, isn’t it expected to end up with a construction job?

I feel for the kid but enough is enough. Show he needs to show them all he’s okay and move on. Living well is the best revenge. High School does not define you. Both teachers have been dismissed from their positions but they should have paid a much steeper price.

First off, Ike’s the man. I mean he might not live the best life of us all, but he sure as hell has put up with a lot of bullshit. I’ve been friends with the dude since junior year of high school. We graduated together, and the Tappin that ass thing was the coolest thing in school. Besides that, he caught a lot of shit from Coach Scibilia and a couple people in school and he honestly never wanted this shit to escalate. But when it did, it did and he couldnt stop it. He’s a good, genuine guy, and I know he didn’t want any trouble out of this….but I could see how the pain and the hurt from Tapp and Scibilia affected him. He had a lot of potential, until this bitch fucked his shit up. Thanks Coach Tapp, you coulda sucked my dick and it all woulda been cool

After reading this article, which was full of ridiculous, false, and one-sided allegations — it makes me never want to read rolling stones again. The majority of the story is made-up, and makes Hammonton out to be a town who allows anyone to educate their children. Jason is just pissed because, now he looks like a big a-hole in town and no one cares about his stupid story.. news flash buddy, it was your OWN fault!!
So please don’t feel sorry for this “young, innocent boy who cuts himself.” …where is the parent intervention if he was THAT bad!
I hope they make a movie out of this, so I can go and laugh about it.. hey maybe next time more people can be in it and thrown under the bus (even the ones that helped you).
Thank you Jason for your childish acts.. and Miss Tapp should be ashamed of ever going near you (not because you were under age, but because your a complete MENTAL CASE)

Freakin’ double standard. If Jason had been a girl and Tapp had been a man, the media totally wouldn’t have grilled Jason the way they did. And he’s hot as hell.

Poor guy. At the start I was thinking “Man, I wish I was this guy” but by the end article I felt bad for even thinking that.
