Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” Hits Radio

1/13/09, 11:30 am EST

Although it wasn’t slated to hit radio until January 19th, Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” debuted this morning on New York Top 40 station Z100. As you would expect from Clarkson’s glossy, lollipop-embracing new look, as well as the “I Kissed a Girl” production tag team of Max Martin and Dr. Luke, “My Life Would Suck” is straight-up pop. The opening chords are reminiscent of “Since U Been Gone,” but the track soon cascades into an avalanche of synths and a steady beat as Clarkson sings on the chorus ” ‘Cause we belong together now, Forever united here somehow, You got a piece of me, And honestly, My life would suck without you.”

Kelly’s not taking any risks this time around: The song has all the characteristics of a surefire radio hit. Like the track or not, there’s no denying Clarkson’s voice sounds great as she looks to reclaim her pop princess throne. You can have a listen at the Elvis Duran’s Z100 Morning Show Website, who like to embed the phrase “Music On Demand” into their streams (Click here to listen to the song on Rhapsody).

Of course, the track is the first single from Kelly’s upcoming album All I Ever Wanted, (not Masquerade as previously reported) due in stores March 17th. Meanwhile, Amazon has posted January 16th as the release date for “My Life Would Suck.” Talking about her shiny new looking album cover after a brief brush with Evanescence style, Clarkson blogged, “it’s very colorful and they have definitely photo-shopped the crap out of me but i don’t care haha! whoever she is, she looks great.”

This song totally rocks, Kelly’s vocals are way beyond amazing, looks likes the ol’ KC will rule charts soon again.

Marc | 1/13/2009, 11:57 am EST

Kelly Clarkson, crawling on her hands and knees back to the hitmakers, after she proved she couldn’t write a decent pop song.

Anne | 1/13/2009, 12:11 pm EST

Great song! Kelly’s vocals are insane!! I love her! I really hope she goes #1!

cc | 1/13/2009, 12:35 pm EST

Marc- you wish she were crawling back on her hands and knees. She proved what she wanted, Never Again sold almost 1 million copies and debuted at #8 onthe Hot 100. Blame Clive & Co for that album not generating any radio hits as there were plenty of good pop songs on My December. and let’s try to recall that Kelly wrote Behind these hazel eyes, Because of You and Walk Away, all of which were hits off the breakaway album.

Backspace | 1/13/2009, 12:43 pm EST

No integrity.

She’ll change her style, look everything just to try and jump on the bandwagon of whatever’s cool. American pop music keeps getting worse and worse.

Jun | 1/13/2009, 1:18 pm EST

Awesome new single…I can’t wait for her album…I hope everything will be a blast to superstardom for Kelly! She deserves it! I hope her team is right on! Looking forward for the music video : )

John | 1/13/2009, 1:27 pm EST

Awesome new sound for Kelly who keeps changing it up on evert CD. One thing the never changes is her voice which is always brilliant.

dude | 1/13/2009, 1:57 pm EST

Music is art, but this isn’t art…it’s entertainment for musically retarded individuals who make up a large amount of this shitty stupid country.

Kyle | 1/13/2009, 2:01 pm EST

Great song! and for those that think kelly can’t write… go listen to because of you or behind these hazel eyes.. Those are amazing songs, and kelly wrote them.

Divo | 1/13/2009, 2:38 pm EST

She rocks, her voice is amazing!

Jots | 1/13/2009, 2:55 pm EST

This song is so awesome! Love it!

I really hope it goes to #1!

I guess I have to resign myself to accept “My December” as Kelly’s “Try This”. A great, yet underperforming, pop album.

The single is solid, but safe. Kelly sounds great singing it. Musically and lyrically is quite boring. I’m on the fence on getting the album, or how soon. It really depends on how many good albums are out there at the time of the release and if I like the other songs off the album. I would buy the album if it sounds closer to “Breakaway”. If it ends up sounding like her atrocious debut album, then I’ll skip the album all together.

dannny | 1/13/2009, 5:11 pm EST

I think Kelly has nailed this song just right, although my december was a pretty decent record, if it did not succed blame her record label, hopefully she’ll hit the top 5, and a possible #1 spot

My thoughts exactly, it’ll be forever known as the ‘black sheep’ of her albums,
yet it was still fantastic.

I like this song, I just dont love it =/

Maybe it’ll grow on me

Kelly is so amazing at whatever she does. She’s very flexible, and it makes her so unique. I lovedddd “My December,” because it was so raw and beautiful. I love her new song, and I cannot wait for the new CD… and tour! Rock on, KC. (:

Ashley | 1/13/2009, 6:26 pm EST

Marc- SHOVE IT! Kelly’s an amazing artist, and you obviously wouldn’t know real music if it walked up and introduced itself to you.

me | 1/14/2009, 1:14 pm EST

Im so surprised she released a song liekt his. She even says it’s pop. WTF was My December all about then? She must have gotten a good deal ($$$$) to do a pop album.

S Griffin | 1/14/2009, 3:45 pm EST

Been waiting for this for awhile….love the sound and the voice. Missed her

Amelia | 1/14/2009, 9:10 pm EST

Kelly Clarkson changes it up again. This is a pure PERFORMER, ladies and gentlemen. No matter what style she’s doing- R&B, Punk, Rock, Pop, or Country, Kelly gives it her all and creates outstanding music. MLWSWY is awesome and I can’t wait for All I Ever Wanted! Go Kelly – The only Idol worth idolizing!

cg | 1/14/2009, 9:45 pm EST

Yeah pop music isn’t as great as it used to but thank goodness for Kelly (who can actually SING) to make it better. Her new song is a million times better than majority of the songs out there. Kelly has written tons of descent pop songs a la “Walk Away”, “Because of You”, “Behind These Hazel Eyes”, “Miss Independent”, “Never Again”, etc. Also Kelly is not in it for the money if she was she would have listen to that jerk Clive Davis and scrap half the songs off My December. She told her label if they let her make My December all on her own then she would do whatever they wanted for album #4. Kelly is truly the most down to earth, anti diva singer ever and amazing songwriter. She has won four songwriting awards-that tells you something there. Kelly will be here for ages.

I’m So Glad That Kelly Clarkson Bring Her Fourth Studio Album Out

JED | 1/18/2009, 9:59 am EST

Kelly is an artist that isn’t afraid to take risk….but she knows what she needs to do to be heard…..She has got the greatest voice in music today (along with PINK). She brings to the table what no other artist can do, you feel every note she sings and you can’t control the goose bumps. That is a true artist. When she opens her mouth, she touches anyone that is on the other end listening, and there isn’t a dam thing you can do about it, whether you admin it or not.

JM | 1/21/2009, 3:14 pm EST

Sorry Marc, I have to ask: are you always this stupid? I’m just wondering because “Because of You”, which Kelly wrote when she was 16, was a world #1. She’s also won awards for songwriting.

Kelly Fan | 1/21/2009, 7:34 pm EST

I love this new song! I really loved her “My December” album too, Fave song was Chivas from that album. I am totally rockin to this new song! Love you Kelly!

The “Queen of Idol” is back and is definitely going to be called the “Most Successful Idol” with this one. Even though Idol has some great singers to come out of the show, none of them is better than the o.i. they try but none of them can ever catch up with her.

Hilary | 1/23/2009, 3:16 am EST

I am her biggest fan!!! she is the best singer ever!!! I love all her songs!! Her voice is great and she’a soo pretty!

Let’s be honest people, Kelly’s 3rd album was a COMPLETE flop in every sense. It didn’t even sell 800,000 copies in the US, which is a failure, since her last album sold somewhere between 6 and 8 million. Clive Davis was RIGHT to shelve it. There were ZERO hits. Do your homework folks. Clive is one of the smartest people in the history of popular music, and is responsible for many amazing careers, including Kelly Clarkson’s. She should constantly be thanking him. Also, she’s never written a single hit ON HER OWN. All of her biggest songs have been co-written with some of the biggest writers in modern pop music. She’s desperate for a hit…so she went back to the guys who wrote “since u been gone” and had them write her another song that starts off sounding just like it. Nothing special about this one tho…sounds like it would have been a b-side on Katy Perry’s album. Speaking of which, Kelly’s little songwriting saviors also wrote “I kissed a girl” for Katy and “baby one more time” for Britney. So, how does that make Kelly Clarkson an “artist”???

smoocheepoo | 3/12/2009, 12:44 pm EST

Well, I’m sure all the little bubble-gummers will learn a lot about a “normal realtionship” from this song!!! I love Kelly’s voice but I think that she REALLY needs to think about the fact that a lot of girls LISTEN to the words and see her as a role model. Rhianna is BAD ENOUGH and now Kelly is telling kids that a dysfuntional relationship is OK becz “MY life would suck w/o you” so I’ll just keep coming back for more!! NOT ME!! I’m setting my standards waaaaaaay higher!

preppy!!!!!! | 3/17/2009, 5:21 pm EST

I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! :)
