Paul McCartney Q&A: Behind the Fireman’s New Psych-Pop Gem

In the new issue (on newsstands everywhere today!), Paul McCartney opens up about the Fireman, his low-key experimental side project with British producer Youth. The group has returned after a 10-year break, and compared to the trippy techno of 1993’s Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest and 1998’s Rushes, the new Electric Arguments is a more straight-up, melodic McCartney LP. For the story behind the album — and to find out how working with Youth compares to the Beatle’s time in the studio with Nigel Godrich and John Lennon — click here for an exclusive Q&A:

The new album is awesome. I would recommend it to any Beatles/McCartney/rock fan…

This is McCartney’s best album in years. There are so many great tunes and his voice sounds amazing with Youth’s involvement.
Nothing too much just out of sight is a great song, sort of like a modern day Helter Skelter.

I love the new album. I do wish Rushes would be re-released. Now that I’ve heard it on Fireman Radio on Sirius, I really love it as well.
